The biggest tip I can give is to ask teachers for help whenever you are confused about anything. Don't be afraid to ask questions or visit teachers during their office times between classes. Also, the counselors are very helpful as well. I was having some trouble with an online English class and one of the counselors helped me by going over my essays with me before I submitted it.

Make sure you have transportation (either bus, car, whatever) and send them in the mail all necessary documentation to register for classes. Learn from my mistake- I am a transfer who forgot to send in their high school transcript and had to rush in last minute to just make it in time to register. If you can handle 4-5 hours of classes in a row (with 10/15 minute breaks- enough to eat food, go to the bathroom, etc) DCCC has wonderful scheduling options so you can go to school only Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Don't slack on the classwork though! Very easy to get a 4.0 here- which you will want to get for applying to universities and scholarships!

Badger the staff with questions all the time. Ask them every last thing you can possibly think of, even if it doesn't seem important at the time. You won't believe the catastrophes that can be averted this way. If you have any financial questions, don't ask the almost useless counselors. Instead, ask the beleaguered and terribly overworked cashiers. They know everything the counselors are supposed to know (but don't) and they don't take two weeks to get an appointment with. Use Delagate all the time. Get the new app for it. Check the textbook requirements a few times right up until class starts, to make sure they haven't wantonly changed them all at the last minute. They do that. If you want to know exactly how much you need to pay out of pocket before a tuition deadline, choose the option to pay your bill with a credit card, under the records tab, and then just don't follow it all the way through. This is inexplicably the only way to find out. The bill won't tell you, since it fails to mention that various financial aid packages come through at various different times, many of them too late.
