San Rafael is a fairly small city, but close to many larger cities. A lot of times students would go hang out in San Francisco for the day or go to San Jose for the weekend. A regular class week for students is Monday-Thursday, so there are also plenty of house parties to attend on Thursday and Friday nights.

The best part about living in Marin County is the close proximity to Mt. Tamalpais, numerous hiking and biking trails, and the many, many beaches! Outdoor recreation is the best form of fun, in my opinion. However, there are many decent bars in downtown San Rafael and activities in nearby San Francisco, as well.

There is honestly not that many fun things to do on campus, but DUC is 15 minutes away from San Francisco. There is bowling in San Rafael, and that's pretty much it. The bars (if you're 21 and over) are not too exciting.

Downtown offers some stuff, but San Rafael is very small. San Francisco is a short drive away, but as a freshman you will not be allowed a car. Be prepared to walk everywhere, or bike uphill, and ride the bus if you want to go to SF.

For fun my friends and I are always in downtown San Rafael. It is only a 20 minute walk from campus and there are a lot of places to go. Sol Food and San Jose Taqueria are both amazing restaurants on Fourth Street and Double Rainbow, an ice cream place, is amazing as well.
