There are many things to do downtown or in southside such as shows, sport games, and parties. There are things to do if you enjoy partying or not on campus as well.

USE THE POWER FITNESS CENTER. Really, a built in fitness, activity center that offers a tremendous variety of physical options. Informal and formal dances have a place in the calendar, along with concerts, movies, and game days and nights. The Penguins home, the Consol Energy Center is located adjacent to campus. The Pirates, Steelers, and other sports teams call Pittsburgh home. A short walk across from campus is the South Side, a night life hub of activity.

Downtown Pittsburgh has a large amount of free or cheap entertainment. The South Side also has plenty of things to do.

I go explore Pittsburgh, go to Oakland where Pitt is to hang out with friends. Walking through Shenley Park is awesome, going out to eat in the cultural district.

For the first few months it seems like there is an overwhelming amount of things to do. So many shops and places to eat on Southside East Carson Street, Southside Works, the Waterfront, and at Downtown Pittsburgh, but the excitement fizzles out after the first few months. Unless you like to party every weekend, expect to be bored a lot. Duquesne Residence Life and the Student Government Association try to have activities at the NiteSpot and play movies for sober fun which is nice if you take advantage of it. They provide lots of FREE fun.

There are many places to go and have fun since DU is so close to the center of the city. Downtown has some fun stuff, including winter activities like ice skating. There are plenty of clubs downtown as well, and an endless amount of bars in South Side. The shopping in the South Side boutiques is also pretty cool. In addition, the Strip District has some pretty great (AND CHEAP) stuff like clothes and groceries. On campus, the Nite Spot has nightly activities, competitions, or movie offerings. And of course, you can always find a party somewhere close to campus, to go hang out and have fun.
