When coming to ELAC be sure to complete all the step required to enroll in school done as soon as possible. This way you can start to explore resources available on campus. Study your Math and English skill before taking the placement this way you can be place at or above college level Math and English, you do not want to start at lowest level and pay more in unit to catch up. Make sure to learn about programs offered to help you obtain *priority registration* it is really difficult to obtain some of the class you need to finish community college so obtain priority gives you an advantage. During your first year try to focus on passing your classes, do not fall behind, remember you are paying your own college classes here, you do not want your money to go to waste.

Find out what you want. You don't want to just try out everything without the pay. The classes are affordable and if you want to transfer this is a good school for that too.

Meet with a counselor during your first year and see which classes you need to take so you can get the classes you need to transfer.

If you are planning on attending East Los Angeles College I recommend that you do not take things lightly. The professors at this institution are friendly but when it comes to grading they are very professional. Also take advantage of the library hours, math lab, and writing lab. They are all free and will benefit you drastically. Make sure that before enrolling into courses you speak with a counselor in order to know which courses to take. Being in a community college can be fun however you do not want to prolong your stay. Knowing what courses to take will speed up the process of transferring into a four year institution.
