Am learning a lot
Eastern has such a wide variety of majors and minors. Professors are personable, but still don't make it easy. You have to work for your grades.
Am enjoying being here
I like the campus, but not at night. I don't advise taking night classes because it's a little rough.
Bang for the buck
It all depends on which degree you are after. Eastern is great for Education majors.
Tips for prospective students
Don't live on campus if you live near home. The dorms are smaller than normal and it's not worth the money.
Great for these types of students
Education majors!!! One of the best schools for educators.

Did learn a lot
Eastern has a good atmosphere for learning. The professors offer a college level challenge, yet are very accessible and more than willing to help if you are having trouble. I felt like the cirriculum was set up for you to become a well rounded and cultured person and open you up to many different learning experiences and ideas.
Did enjoy being here
I had a fun time at Eastern. There was plenty of fun to be had. I have seen some great performances from very high-profile entertainers here on campus. The people were very friendly, and the campus was gorgeous, complete with beautiful landscaping and man-made lakes and fountains. The student center is beautiful. During the fall and spring, there is no better place to be than outside studying near the fountains or on the lawns, socializing, or just taking in the scenery.
Bang for the buck
I received a quality education and i have a great job now due to my education, that i am very proud of. Eastern has an impressive campus and good facilities.
Tips for prospective students
Stay on top of your priorities. Be sure to stay on top of academics and financial aid. Dont be afraid to get involved on campus. Eastern is a place where you can get the most out of your time there by being fully engaged socially and academically. There are a lot of great people attending this school, so you can definitley make some life long friends here. EMU has a impressive library to take advantage of. There are also tons of academic resourses to utilize, that are always accessible if you need help in any area of study.
Great for these types of students
Eastern is great for all types. I would recommend this school to anyone. Eastern is a big school with a large student body, yet it maintains a quaint. EMU is also a bit of a commuter school which may be a drawback for some.

Eastern Michigan University is a great school and it offers a good Psychology program as well as Business, and Education. The campus is very easy to get use to and the professors are very helpful and most will actually tell you, If your having any problems just let me know and we can talk. I respect a professor that puts passion into their teachings as well as student well being! You don't find this too often.
Am enjoying being here
Most people that attend Eastern are very friendly but you always have the odd balls in every school. Eastern has many different functions and activities that on-campus students can enjoy such as: Poetry slams, frat steppers, jazz at night, and the sky lounge.
Bang for the buck
Your going to be spending thousands of dollars so why not get your money worth and get those good grades so you can get your desired degree.
Tips for prospective students
Don't get caught up in wordly activities because once you attend a party you will want to go time and time again and this will take away your focus and study time. Always keep in mind the reason why your going to college and I hope it isn't to party because you could have done that without paying college tuitions.
Great for these types of students
One has to stay on top of their work by working diligently, not letting anyone be a distraction, managing your time, always present your best work, and putting your best foot forward!

Am learning a lot
I am an education student at Eastern and since being admitted to the College of Education I have learned so much about the field. A lot of the teachers were classroom teachers in the past, so they have real life experience to share. I also have noticed the amount of knowledge I have learned by my vocabulary. I can talk technical terms regarding education with other professionals. The classes allow a lot of experience by observations and working in classrooms. I feel confident in the education I am getting.

I recently transferred to Eastern and am glad I did. This college makes commuting easy but I am also told by the people who live on campus they enjoy it too. The campus is very manageable and I have never come close to getting lost. The class sizes for the most part are pretty small which allows for more direct feedback from the professors. There are also many places to eat with a variety of choices, I'm a vegetarian and i have never had trouble finding something good to eat. Overall, I enjoy being at Eastern and am happy to continue going there.
Bang for the buck
As far as money goes, Eastern is a good choice. The tuition is lower than a lot of other options and with commuting, it is even cheaper. The university also puts out ample opportunities for scholarships.
Tips for prospective students
There's no special trick to making one's way through Eastern but some advice I would give is to sign up for classes early, research the professors to find the best one, and make sure to take only the classes relevant to the respective programs you are in.
Great for these types of students
Because of the flexibility Eastern brings, it is great for transfer students, commuting students, working students, and returning students. Of course, it is good for traditional students as well, everyone is generally accommodated.

Completing an undergraduate degree in Marketing, as well as a Master in Business Administration from Eastern's College of Business, I found the faculty to be involved, supportive, and incredibly dedicated. You will learn from industry-leaders. I left with two degrees that put me in a competitive position for obtaining jobs in my field.
Did enjoy being here
As with any college/university, getting involved is critical to your success in college. If you expect a college to drag you from your dorm room and show you a good time, you will be disappointed anywhere you go. I found getting involved in academic groups and the Greek system to be extremely valuable to my overall college experience. I also worked on campus (Eastern Echo, Campus Life, and Dining Services) which were great places to meet lifelong friends and feel more involved. In addition, I lived in the residence halls for three years. Eastern has great living and dining options -- it was in the residence halls that I met many people who are most special to me still today.
Bang for the buck
With a variety of academic, athletics, and merit-based scholarships and grants available, Eastern Michigan can be an affordable option for many. Graduate assistantships can also make earning an advanced degree very cost-effective. Ohio residence share in-state tuition rates with Michigan residents which is an added perk!
Tips for prospective students
Live on campus (for at least one year). The freshman center is a great place to meet friends and comfortably get involved. Be flexible with your major! I changed mine 3 times my first two years until I settled into business. I definitely made the right choice for me!
Great for these types of students
Students who are naturally outgoing, bright, and dedicated to making their college experience memorable.

Eastern is a smaller school so you get to know a lot of people. The professors make themselves available whenever you need help. I feel like I'm understanding the material rather than just trying to get a good grade on a test.
Am enjoying being here
There's a lot of activities to get involved. There are student organizations, the recreation center, and downtown Ypsilanti. However, during the weekends it is very quiet and empty.
Bang for the buck
At EMU you get to experience being a part of a division 1 school that isn't very expensive.
Tips for prospective students
As long as you stay focused on getting good grades and ask your teachers for help when you need it, you should do well at EMU.

Am learning a lot
I have just completed my first semester at Eastern and so far I have learned quite a bit. Everything from Risk Analysis on buildings and computers to Ethical decisions to learning different types of speech.
Am enjoying being here
I love being here. The atmosphere is great, everyone is friendly and laid back. I am a candidate of Sigma Nu Fraternity and they help a lot to make sure their brothers keep up on their grades so it makes me do good in school. Also there is tons of places to eat whether is on campus or a Jimmy Johns off campus that isn't more than a 10 min walk.
Bang for the buck
Eastern is the only college in the state of MI that has their price of tuition increase lower than everyone else. The dorms are nice, the food is good, and the teaching is excellent.
Tips for prospective students
If you come here make sure you get involved. It will make your college life so much easier and you will know so many people. Whether its with Student Government, a fraternity or sorority, and anything else. GET INVOLVED!
Great for these types of students
Great for students who want to learn, student who want to major in computers this is the place for you because NSA actually recruits students in the field.

In three sentences
Eastern Michigan offers opportunities that will definitely satisfy the majors offered. There are several clubs/sports that allows interaction with other students/peers. The academic curriculum is the most interesting I have ever seen.
Tips for prospective students
The main goal of attending Eastern Michigan University, as well as any other college, is become lazy enough whereas your grades are a negative reflection of your effort. The work is not that hard and do not put partying before school work. That is what I did, but I definitely learned from it second semester.
Academic Rigor
All of my classes consisted of professors that made my first year of college the greatest. My professors were very lenient on work and made sure all of the material was comprehensible.
Dorm Life
I personally loved my dorm experience. My room was kind of the chill spot so many people would stop by everyday and just relax, laugh, and just have fun. However, the dorms are sort of small, but as most colleges have for their freshman students, the room size is not a main priority for incoming students.
Food and Dining
At first, the food was amazing. There is such a big variety of foods available to eat at EMU. However, towards the end of the school year, the food choices became more and more repetitive and I began to steer away from it. Then again, who can eat the same thing every single day.
What to do for fun
There are numerous frat houses around the campus that hosts parties every week. That is a chill spot. There are a few clubs in the area. Most people attend parties that are in apartments around campus. I personally go to the Rec/IM Center every day to play basketball. I love basketball. Or I would just go outside to socialize. I am well known around the campus.
Great for these types of students
If you like to party and stay up all night, Eastern is definitely a place to go. It is always a live atmosphere. But it is also serious when it comes to the work. Work is always important. But I am positive that there is a way to tie both into one schedule.
Clubs and Activities
There are D-1 sports available as well as Intramural sports.
Greek Life
Kappa, Omega, Beta, Iota, etc. There are many different organizations around campus to choose from.
Campus Safety
The campus safety is absolutely superb. There is not one incident on campus that will not be noticed immediately. Eastern has a program called See-Us which provides personal safety for students who do not feel safe walking around the campus. They will escort you to your destination safely.

The professors are very knowledgeable and are very experienced. Outside of the classroom I have learned more then I thought I ever could. It has been an amazing experience, and I could not ask for more.
Am enjoying being here
It truly is my new home after high school. The campus is small but with a lot of students. I have never walked across campus without running into someone that I know and enjoy talking to. At the same time however, there are so many students that you always get the opportunity to make new friends.
Bang for the buck
One of the cheapest Universities that I looked into and it is one of the best experiences I have ever had. Plus financial aid has paid for all of my schooling with the exception of aviation costs (which is a very expensive major to get into).
Tips for prospective students
I was told this when I first came to Eastern, and it is Make this what you want that was the best advice I could have ever received. I found my niche within minutes of stepping on campus and could not have enjoyed my time here any more that what I currently do.
Great for these types of students
Any one who wants to get a great degree at a relatively cheap cost in comparison with any other colleges. There are so many options for anything that you could ever want.

I have had one great year attending EMU. i have taken about 30 credit hours this year and haven't had any bad professors. they have all helped me and have made the classes enjoyable!
Am enjoying being here
i transferred from a community college, making this my first year living on campus. i believe emu has made the transition easy and enjoyable. plus i live in the dorms and love every minute of it, they provide fun activities and get you involved in on-campus activities. because of that i became active in my dorm by being on the Leadership Advisory Board as the sports coordinator to encourage other residents/students to become active.
Bang for the buck
yes, EMU is expensive but the financial aid office helps you get your financial aid ready and applying for scholarships. EMU also offers many services to help you, including a career center which helps you with choosing a career later helping you apply for scholarships.
Tips for prospective students
If you choose EMU as your college, become active in the community! being active with EMU campus helps you meet people and guides you to becoming a leader. also, use the help that they have to provide you!
Great for these types of students
EMU is great for students looking into a career of education. other fields are great but not as big as our education program.
