Great for these types of students

Edinboro is acclaimed for its accommodations for students with disabilities. Everything is handicap accessible. There is a great nursing program and the speech and hearing sciences programs as well.

    Tips for prospective students

The Highlands are a great place to live in and you meet tons of people that way as long as you keep your door open! Edinboro is extremely easy to get into and Edinboro gets tons of snow in the winter but that makes it more fun! There are lots of handicapped students there as well.

    Bang for the buck

I'm an out-of-stater and it is very affordable especially if you are from Pennsylvania. The education that you receive is what you expect from a state university, not the greatest but still very good.

    Am enjoying being here

You have to be able to handle living in a small town with not much to do. There is a lot of stuff to do on campus and its easy to come up with things to do.

    Am learning a lot

The professors know what they are teaching for the most part. Many of the professors have PhDs so that is a definite plus.

    Tips for prospective students

I would suggest leaving your car at home unless you have a vehicle with 4 wheel drive, the roads get pretty bad and unless you know how to drive on the snow/ice, you should really stick to walking.

    Bang for the buck

It has very cheap tuition, and there is a lot of money saving things on campus, like the free movie theater that has different movies each week, their are two galleries on campus and you can rent rollarblades and bikes with your student ID.

    Am enjoying being here

Its a small town, so you can basically walk everywhere and where you can not walk to the school has a shuttle program set up to take you and drop you off.

    Am learning a lot

The general education classes can be on the bigger side, but for you core classes that are about you major they are small class sizes so that you can work one on one with your teacher. All teachers are willing to work with you and the school has tutoring for every class that is offered.

Great for these types of students

From what I can see this is a great place for those who want to get out of the big city and relax somewhere that is quiet.

    Bang for the buck

I have been pulling my hair out trying to find an affordable college, and here it is. Edinboro is completely affordable for the average middle class family.

Great for these types of students

Edinboro caters to a variety students, most notably are the following: liberal arts majors, education majors, low to middle income students, disabled students, and those after a valuable education.

    Tips for prospective students

Oh, no! Up late? Super hungry? No food in your dorm? John's Wildwood Pizzeria has got your covered. They are open late, reasonably priced, delicious, and they deliver. When you're scheduling for classes, be sure to schedule promptly and on time because seats generally fill up fast. Have an updated bus schedule on hand because it is always a nice feeling to know that the bus is stopping at the building where you're having your next class.

    Bang for the buck

My family is upper middle class and the pricing for this university fit us perfectly. The education is more than I could ever ask for and the overall experience that Edinboro University creates is outstanding. The university takes into account any complaints or suggestions that students may have and develop the proper accommodations.

    Am enjoying being here

Besides the stellar education that this university provides, Edinboro University is a great community where everyone seems to fit in and make friends. Whether it be walking to Pizza Hut or one of the many specialty shops, there is always something to keep you occupied. Edinboro has changed the way I thought about college. It has made me realize that college is not just about learning (although that is a great deal of it!); it is also about making lifelong friends.

    Am learning a lot

The professors at Edinboro University are insightful. They provide a learning experience that surpasses many other universities in quality. Picking the right college with the right professors is critical for any student wishing to achieve success, and Edinboro University has been the right choice for me. I have attended many classes where my initial thought was, How am I ever going to learn such difficult concepts? The professors made the material digestible and I comprehended everything just fine. However, as with all colleges, there are a few professors that use difficult teaching methods that vary from the norm. If you dislike the way a professor teaches, you have a select amount of time to drop the course without penalty and are able to be placed with a different professor.

Great for these types of students

This school is very well set up for handicapped students. There are also great programs for nursing, teaching, and a fairly large art program. The Edinboro art department is set up so your portfolio review is during your sophomore year (called candidacy). This levels the playing field because no two high school art programs are the same. EUP is not located in a city, so it's pretty quiet around here. If you can't afford a private college but don't want to go to community college, try Edinboro out. Great things happen here!

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early even if you're not sure if you want to go here or not yet, especially if they waive your application fee. Also, try to get your housing contract in as soon as possible. I specifically wanted to live on the Honors Living Learning floor, so I sent mine in within a week. Leave your door open when you can so that you can get to know your neighbors. During freshmen common hour, they will encourage you to meet your advisor before you have to find him or her for registration down the line. Do it. Make sure you show up for class as much as possible, because a lot of my teachers will start lowering your grade if you miss more than three days. If you have any AP or College in High School credits, make sure you have them sent in as soon as possible, as in the beginning of summer.

    Bang for the buck

Edinboro's a state school, so you're already saving money. This is especially true if you are a PA resident. I am not eligible for financial aid, so this school is pretty close to my price range. Just be careful when buying drinks outside Van Houten (the buffet style place) because pepsi products are not covered on the meal plan and you could accidentally deplete your flex (your extra cash on your ID). I also recommend traditional housing over the Highlands. Earp and Dearborn are built a lot better, and my floor actually is a community. It's cheaper, and in some cases, our bathrooms are cleaner. Also, they told me that if I visited Edinboro, they would waive my application fee.

    Am enjoying being here

There's a lot of stuff to do here, if you look for it. A lot of activities are free, like the SGA game room, the movie theater (popcorn is a quarter), zumba, yoga, clubs, and other campus activities. The bus is free with your college ID so you can get around campus and go to Erie. There are some cool places in town too, like Earthshine and John's Wildwood Pizza. A lot of people go home on the weekends, but I heard more people stay on campus when it starts to snow and such.

    Am learning a lot

I am definitely learning a lot of new information in every class. I like most of my teachers, and they're pretty reasonable.

The best is stopping by Johns pizza anytime after midnight, great food and sure to be able to laugh at some fellow students enjoying the night.

    What to do for fun

Being able to rent out tons of equipment from the student center is a pretty awesome perk. From camping equipment, roller blades, to kayaks, you can find something to fun around town.

    Food and Dining

Food is great on campus with many options. John Wildwoods pizza is the local hot spot for pizza, wings, subs, and calzones. (open till 4:00 AM) The Empty Keg has the BEST burgers around for cheap prices, great for lunch!

    Dorm Life

Fun! They have different events for the dorms and contests. It is nice being right on campus allowing easy access to all Edinboro gas to offer.

    Academic Rigor

Academics are great, but as with any University or school in general, the academics are what you make of it.

    Tips for prospective students

Get out as much as possible to University events and meet new people, don't stay cooped up in your room. Listen to your advisor, but ask as many questions that you have, they are there to help you.

    In three sentences

Edinboro is a GREAT University in a great location in Pennsylvania. The campus is beautiful already with great spots to read, study, or just hangout outside which is great during the fall. With Edinboro being smaller school you get smaller class sizes which is great when you need help from the professors.

    Bang for the buck

This is a very inexpensive school compared to most. The rooms are beautiful and the campus has a game room for all students that is equipped with a Wii, PS3, XBOX 360, and another Television for just watching shows.

    Am enjoying being here

I have never had so many people around me that truly understood me. It only took a few days and I was hooked. The first weekend there is freshmen only. So i met alot of new people who understood what it was like going through the transition. Edinboro also provided DJs for dance and provided alot of fun activities to get us settled in.

    Am learning a lot

Edinboro doesn't just give you an education, it also provides you with self discovery. The teachers here are very helpful, I had one teacher come to a study group that myself and a few friends were having before a big test.

    Campus Safety

I have never had an issue on this campus with safety. When the weather gets bad during the winter, the side walks are a little slippery, but that is to be expected. There are cops patrolling all the time and you never feel scared to walk alone at any time of the day.

    Greek Life

The Greek life on campus does a lot of different activities that you will see all over campus, especially in the first semester. They really try to reach out to the community of students and bring activities for us to do.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a ton of clubs and activities for the student body to participate in. I actually suggest it. Edinboro can get kind of boring especially if you aren't big on parting. Joining a club is a great way to meet new friends and share a personal interest. There are clubs for almost everything, and if there isn't you are able to start one.

Great for these types of students

Edinboro is a huge handicap school. People with disabilities or mental illness are very welcomed on campus, especially in the classroom. Also, people that like to meet new and friendly faces. I have never had a bad interaction with a professor or student. Everyone on campus is so friendly and inviting that it makes it easy to meet new people and form new relationships.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Edinboro is a Scottish based school. It isn't weird to see someone wearing a kilt or hear a bagpipe being played. The homecoming is a huge tradition on campus. The whole campus is filled for the weekend. There is a ton to do on campus during that weekend.

    Bang for the buck

Edinboro is one of the cheapest schools of the area. They are also a D1 wrestling school which houses some really great sporting events. The teachers tell you not to buy the book if they aren't going to use them. Edinboro understands that college cost a ton and wants to do everything it can to reduce that fee for us.

    What to do for fun

Honestly, the campus can be very boring at times. Most of the time kids just hang out with their friends and watch movies or go out and party. There aren't a ton of activities to participate in on a normal weekend or weekday. The campus is dry as well.

    Food and Dining

The food services here are great. First coming to college you may get sick due to the change in food preparation and options, however once your body gets use to it, the food isn't terrible. I prefer our food courts and little deli rather than our dining hall.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are very social. I live in the traditional dorms and i have met a ton of people because of it. Everyone leaves their doors open and blasts music. The highlands are a little bit more unsocial but much nicer to live in. My suggestion is to live in traditional the first year then move to the highlands once you made friends.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are like any other school. Some classes can be a challenge but some classes can be really easy also. It truly depends on your major and the courses you take.

    Tips for prospective students

As a upcoming student I wouldn't forget my rain jacket, rain boots, hats, and gloves. The weather here can be very bipolar, which makes for a miserable journey to class. Don't miss out on the campus sporting events or offers. The campus may be small and not a ton to do, but if you get active and join clubs, take advantage of trips, go to comedians and shows, you will enjoy your experience.

    In three sentences

The campus is beautiful and the perfect size. However the weather can be terrible. The college offers smaller class sizes for a better atmosphere, easier learning, and more one on one, which is a huge plus.

Great for these types of students

There are more than enough elevators and walkways for handicap-able students.

    Bang for the buck

The Highlands are really expensive. I wouldn't recommend them if you're trying to save money. You will have to take out a loan no matter what.

    What to do for fun

The student center always has some sort of event going on. There's also a game room in the student center. Check with your RA for upcoming events.

    Food and Dining

Van Houton is all you can eat. Wow is open until midnight. Rose has the best food.

    Dorm Life

The Highlands are nice, but if you want traditional, go with Dearborne or Erp because they are just as nice. I wouldn't recommend Rose or Towers if you can help it.

    Academic Rigor

As long as you try, the work isn't going to be all that hard.

    Tips for prospective students

Prepare for snow. Try buying books online because it'll probably be cheaper.

    In three sentences

The work isn't that hard. It snows a lot. The housing is nice.

    What to do for fun

I have not been up there long enough to roam around and see whats all around to do but i know if you do sports or get a job you'll be busy.

    Food and Dining

If you are a person who need good food to eat while in college Edinboro is the place. they have multiple place to dine and it also has a nutrition list on the website so if you want to eat healthy.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are amazing. Edinboro has amazing dorms that will make you feel as if you were just living in a upscale apartment.

    Academic Rigor

I love the acedemics up there it is to the point where it is not really hard but you will have to work it's not a push over.

    Tips for prospective students

In my opinion prospective students should really look at the college and visit to see if it is right for them i know it was perfect for me price wise and distance.

    In three sentences

Just from my visits to the college i love it. The campus is not to big and not to small. I also love the housing that is what really hooked me.

    Campus Safety

There are blue lights, which are emergency lights, located everywhere around campus and we have police that stay on campus and are always there to help.

    Greek Life

I know very little about Greek life because I do not participate in it.

    Clubs and Activities

There are hundreds of clubs on campus and there are a lot of sports too.

Great for these types of students

We have a really good nursing, education and art program.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are none that I know of.

    Bang for the buck

Very little money is offered to students in scholarships.

    What to do for fun

You can always go bowling at the bowling alley down the street or go and get Chinese with friends at Main Moon or Oceans Buffet. Most people prefer going with friends into Erie and spending the day at the mall because it is only 20 minutes away.

    Food and Dining

There are about seven places on campus to get food, so there are always options. The food is good and it is always changing so you can never get bored with it.

    Dorm Life

I live in a dorm complexed called Highlands. Living in Highlands is nice, but if you are planning on attending the college, and you fill out the paper that asks who you would like to live with on campus if you know anyone who goes to Edinboro, most of the time, you don't get to live with that person. My experiences with roommates has not been good and I've had to move out of my room twice because my roommates did not like me and threw parties everyday to make me mad.

    Academic Rigor

The academic toughness is based upon what your major is. All of the classes offered are good classes and will help you with your major, but the required classes that every major has to take are annoying and painfully slow.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for as many scholarships in your hometown as possible. Before you apply, make sure you are 100% certain the college you are applying to is where you want to go.

    In three sentences

It has a beautiful campus. There is very little communication on campus between the different offices. There is very little scholarship money.

There are Campus police that are right on campus and patrol throughout the night to ensure student safety and regulations. Also there are emergency phones and call buttons located all over campus. Spotting them is easy as well because the lampposts they are attached to light up with a blue light. I have never been worried for my safety whilst on campus.

    Greek Life

I can't say too much about the Greek Life on campus because I am not part of any fraternity but it seems to be a thrill ride. A few friends of mine are a part of it and seem to have such a great time.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a ton of clubs on campus, especially in the art department but don't worry if that's not your major, join anyway! There is also a very active GLBTQIA club that takes trips and goes to lectures quite often. There is a huge club rush at the beginning of the Fall semesters where new and returning students can get them out!

Great for these types of students

I would say that Edinboro is great for Art students cause the programs are so involved and hands on, being an art student I am speaking honestly! But don't let that discourage anyone! I would recommend this University to all Students! The programs are great and the cost is pretty cheap compared to a lot of other places. And let's face it, school ain't cheap.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

All over campus there are pieces of art or sculptures from graduates that have come and gone from Edinboro and they are odd and interesting pieces indeed. And Edinboro University showcases a lot involving Scottish heritage, after all the football team is called the Fighting Scots!

    Bang for the buck

I would say that Edinboro is definitely a school to consider if money is an issue when it comes to higher education. I would be cautious of signing up for expensive housing though. If you can avoid the highlands, by all means do it. Not because they aren't a nice place to live but because they are expensive. And tread caution when signing up for a meal plan because whatever meals you don't use that money goes right into the University's pocket!

    What to do for fun

There are many clubs on campus that students can get involved with and be a part of, but if that ain't your scene then there is plenty of places to walk around campus. Also there is a cafe that has wifi and televisions for relaxing. Students can work out and get fit in the fully equipped gym located right on campus or even go the student theater and watch a movie right before it comes out on DVD. Best part is the movies are free!

    Food and Dining

The food and dining options at Edinboro are pretty great. I mean ya got healthy choices including Salads, Wraps, and Soups or Pizzas, Pastas, and Calzones If You're feeling a bit adventurous. There is also the Big Dining hall on campus which offers an array of foods for the starving student. There are 3 places on campus in which students can dine and i would suggest trying all 3 and deciding what is best for you because only you can know what you like.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is pretty sweet if I do say so myself. The new highlands buildings are a decent place to live and even the older housing buildings are in good shape. I have no complaints about the living arrangements. If you can afford to, i would suggest getting your own room in the highlands buildings just because the privacy is nice but If you can't then find a sweet kid to be your roommate.

    Academic Rigor

My first year, there wasn't one class i had particular difficulty with, except maybe math class but hey who doesn't now and again? And don't come to college thinking it's just a piece of cake because you still gotta work like in high school except work a tad harder to get where you need to go. The professors I've had the pleasure of meeting have all been nice and helpful when i needed it.

    Tips for prospective students

Come here knowing what you want to do. I know deciding what one wants to do with the rest of your life is difficult right out of high school but try and come here with a bit of a direction. especially if you are an incoming art student. Candidacy could be an issue if you are unsure, but no need to fret. Make sure you sign up for cheap housing and a meal plan that won't break the bank ha-ha!

    In three sentences

Edinboro University's Campus is very easy to navigate through and the resources available to the students, including the student center and library, are very useful indeed. Edinboro University offers many many programs for incoming students but the teaching, art, and music programs are probably the university's greatest assets. And finally Edinboro is in a great location, is it right next to a little town that has almost anything you need and whatever it doesn't have is easily found at the nearby Walmart which is only a bus ride away.

    Campus Safety

The campus is pretty safe. Hardly anything bad ever happens here.

    Greek Life

Greek life can be a little crazy here, as I am sure it is everywhere. Most of Greek life is nice and welcoming. If that is what you seek in a college then Edinboro has a great selection.

    Clubs and Activities

There are tons of clubs and activities to choose from.

    What to do for fun

There are many things to do for fun on campus. There is a fitness center, a game room, many pool tables scattered throughout the campus, and many activities provided by the RA's and other people. There is always something to do. Even simple walks around campus can be nice since the area is so beautiful.

    Food and Dining

There is hardly anything healthy on this campus. Most of it is fried and greasy food. It is good, but after a while it does make you feel sick and unhealthy.

    Dorm Life

I have enjoyed the dorm life at Edinboro so far. It can be noisy and sometimes there are problems with neighbors but overall it is a really good experience. It is great to be able to meet other people. I have made so many great friends from staying in the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

Some classes can be very difficult and require the time and effort. Just pay attention and actually try by studying and reading the text and it will be well worth it in the end.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to check into every area of housing on campus before choosing one. If you decide to stay on campus they will make you stay for two years whether you like it or not. Also, if you want to succeed, during your freshman year really mold your academic life. By that I mean get into the habit of studying and taking time to do well. There is time to do stuff for classes and have a good social life.

    In three sentences

This college is amazing!! I am learning so much by attending here and feel myself shaping into the person I want to be. The classes are great and the teachers that I have taken so far have been wonderful overall.

    Food and Dining

Many options for places to eat on campus. The University Center has been changing and has recently added WOW which many students seem to like. Van Houten, the main dining hall, has a little bit of everything including vegan options.

    Dorm Life

The older dorms such as Earp provide an environment to become closer with people on your floor. The Highlands, however, keep everyone more separated. The newer buildings have also been known to have A LOT of problems such as flooding.

    Academic Rigor

With academics at Edinboro you get what you pay for.

    Tips for prospective students

Become involved on campus and your experience at Edinboro will be greatly enhanced. It doesn't matter what you join be it athletics, greek life, or any clubs. Just join something, you'll be glad you did.

The food is good in the beginning, but you'll eventually grow tired of it.

    Dorm Life

If you're a girl and going to live in an all girls dorm, DON'T. Girls don't like other girls and our hall was always quiet or they fought nasty with each other. I live in the Earp/Dearborn Halls. Highlands: Highlands seems to be an anti-social apartment like dorm facility. I prefer to live somewhere more lively and make friends. Like Dearborn or Earp Hall.

If I had the resources, I would have attended a private school for my second degree instead of a state school.

    What to do for fun

Erie is about 25 minutes away, and there's a lot to do there. Erie features a really nice zoo, Presque Isle State Park (which has beaches), plenty of shopping, seasonal events, and a great night-life. Edinboro itself has a lovely lake, with walking trails behind the campus.

The food in the dining hall is not very good. If you eat a lot of food however, I recommend going there. Skipjacks in Rose Hall is the place I always eat at. Good food and close to the traditional dorm living.

    Dorm Life

I live in traditional dorm life and I love it. I feel close to the people on the floor and my social life has risen.

    Academic Rigor

Some classes you will need to push yourself to get through. Not every class will be easy for you. Study, go to class, and pay attention and you will be fine.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure your department is right for you. You have to be positive that this is where you can see yourself for the next 4 years.

    In three sentences

Personally, I am in love with the Psychology department at Edinboro University. All the professors seem to care about you and your education. The classes are wonderful and the students all seem kind as well.

    Campus Safety

With a police station right on campus one will feel incredibly safe here. The police are constantly patrolling around campus looking out for any danger. Also there are emergency locations that one can go to contact the police and get help. These are marked by blue lights and are located by Highlands and spread through out campus.

    Bang for the buck

Edinboro is a great option for a Pennsylvania resident. You get the great education with multiple opportunities and majors to chose from. Tuition is comparable to most other schools and with the great housing options and even the option to commute one is really getting what they pay for here at Edinboro.

    What to do for fun

There is plenty to do for fun here in Edinboro. Football games as well as various other sporting events are always roaring here on campus. The University is constantly hosting events for students, showing movies in the student center, and having chances to go on outings. Edinboro is only a short way from Erie so with a car one is minutes away from a plethora of restaurants, stores, and other things that Erie has to offer.

    Food and Dining

Edinboro University offers a variety of dining options. The in house dining facility Van Houtton offers a consistent menu as well as specials in a buffet style manner. In the student center there are many options depending on your craving. In the student center there is W.O.W which stands for World of Wings. W.O.W offers things such as wings, French fries, sandwiches, and even quesadillas! Also in the student center is chopped and wrapped which offers a variety of salads and wraps and also has a soup of the day. New is the student center is a sushi café Bleu which offers sushi and some other Chinese cuisine. There are many more options too many to list! But I give the dining a thumbs up for always fulfilling my cravings!

    Dorm Life

I currently live in the Highlands which is apartment style housing. It is very nice and clean and I feel at home. There are a variety of different options within the Highlands. One can have their own room with three other suite mates and a shared bathroom for the whole suite. One can have their own bedroom with a common area, kitchenette, and two bathrooms. Another option is to share a bedroom and bathroom with one other person. One can even have their own separate room and suite. The staff is very friendly and there has not been any problems here! Everything is close to the Highlands so they are located nicely. Edinboro also offers a more traditional type of housing. These dorms accommodate to all types of students, even ones with special needs and in wheel chairs.

    Academic Rigor

Being a Nursing student is not easy. The classes are hard yet fun. It is nice to have an Anatomy and Chemistry background coming into the program. A lot of studying is required!!!

    Tips for prospective students

College is nothing like high school! Visit every school you have in mind and ask a lot of questions!!! Study as hard as you can and read the syllabus for every class very carefully! Meet friends in your major and create study groups and have a study night once a week. It will help tremendously when it comes for test time, there will be less cramming.

    In three sentences

Edinboro University is a wonderful campus that feels like home with friendly staff and well maintained facilities. Higher education is valued very high here and the Nursing program is one of the best. I am proud to be affiliated with this University.

    Campus Safety

the campus of Edinboro is very safe all the time there are a lot of safety measures put in place to keep students and professors and everyone safe

    Clubs and Activities

I think Edinboro has the greatest amount of clubs and activities I have seen on a college campus. I am currently involved with students of Edinboro for environmental defense and we do great activities that are open for anyone

Great for these types of students

if you are a big environmentalist the geosciences department has a lot of opportunities for you to get involved.

    Bang for the buck

I think you get a lot of stuff for the money you do spend

    What to do for fun

there are all kinds of clubs and organizations for students plus the college itself is always hosting some kind of event that students can have fun at.

    Food and Dining

the food is not bad there could be lower prices but its a good deal for what you get

    Academic Rigor

the courses are challenging butin a very good way

    Tips for prospective students

the biggest tip I have is to get to know the professors and people within your department where you will be studying the most

    In three sentences

they are a great school. with a lot of very educated and helpful professors. The best thing about the school would be the openness of the professors.

    Food and Dining

Food was good everywhere on and of campus. And not to pricey

    Dorm Life

I did not live on campus, but the dorms were beautiful.

    Academic Rigor

I would not say the classes are hard, I had a tough time with them mainly because my professors were unhelpful so as soon as I was not understanding something I would fall so far behind and most of my professors were useless in getting caught up.

    Tips for prospective students

Always talk to the head of the department rather than the adviser you are given. Go on Rate my professor before scheduling that way you have an idea on how they are, I had to many bad professors at Edinboro, I regret not using it sooner.

    In three sentences

A beautiful campus and located in a small town. Good courses, but not very helpful professors Very unhelpful academic advisers.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The towers on campus are said to be haunted. I was going to go up with some friends on Halloween but we forgot to. supposedly someone hung themselves from the towers and that's why they are haunted but I wouldn't know for myself.

    What to do for fun

Most of the kids on campus go to frat parties and what not, me I just hang out with friends. I haven't really went anywhere off campus yet.

    Dorm Life

If you get into the Highlands your freshmen year you'll be good, but if you don't no need to worry a lot of people change their minds on where they want to go and transfer so you may get in. Also, roommates is another thing, some of them can be very rude and disrespectful, just change your room don't put up with them.

    Academic Rigor

Most of the education professors are really nice, however some of the math professors for the math classes are rude and very unhelpful.

    Tips for prospective students

Bring a very heavy jacket and good boots because the snow is bad. Also, they use a weird salt on the side walks that is supposed to help the kids who are in wheel chairs, however it just makes the side walk more slippery. Don't go down the emergency exit stairs when its snowing, you will fall down them because they do not salt them. Keep up with your classes and go to class. Most professors don't care that you don't attend, they just give you the grade you get.

    In three sentences

It gets very cold here and you get a lot of snow. Also, the food places on campus are not that good; however, there are a lot of places that deliver so its not so bad. Another good thing would be the amount of people you meet here, many different people where you can learn a lot of different things.

Responses from Police are usually timely, except some police officers tend to be very rude.

Great for these types of students

Art programs are some of the best available in Pennsylvania!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Well, there are some interesting sculptures on campus that have certain resemblances... (ask for Dietrich Wegner!)

    Bang for the buck

MANY opportunities to take your classroom experience and put them to the test in real life situations. This is especially true for art students like myself!

    What to do for fun

Up town, there's a few bars, a bowling alley, a few restaurants, and a hookah bar about 10 minutes walking distance off campus.

    Food and Dining

Be careful where you eat. There's something in the food that can make you feel pretty sick! Watch out for Van Houten.

    Dorm Life

Sometimes lacking, the on campus living places could use work. However, the highlands are like hotels and offer a very cozy place to stay.

    Academic Rigor

Excellent professors, timely feedback, and fun assignments.

    Tips for prospective students

1.) Bring snow boots and a parka, maybe a sled and some huskies. 2.) Get your homework done ahead of time. 3.) Have a plan ready for finals.

    In three sentences

The professors at Edinboro use their real-world experience to build their students up and teach them everything they know. The campus life is nothing short of incredible. It's really a wonderful place to grow.

Great for these types of students

Art Students, Local kids looking for a cheaper college, people wanting a medium sized school where professors know who they are

    What to do for fun

Lots of sporting events going on, harder to find stuff in the winter, bike when it's nice around the town and to Edinboro lake, go to the bagel shop or Flip Cafe. The Student Center always has events going on as well.

    Food and Dining

It's decent food (especially Sandella's and Subs & Shakes) but the meal plans are a bit of a rip off unless you go to Van.

    Dorm Life

The Highlands, the suite-style dorms they are trying to make everyone live in now are expensive. They also don't provide the typical dorm atmosphere you'd get in traditional halls and you don't meet as many people because of this.

    Academic Rigor

I am in the HPE Sport and Recreation Administration program and I think it does a good job preparing us for the real world. Though all classes you have to take aren't the hardest, most are useful. I know other programs that are much harder and a few that are easier. It really depends on your program and the specific professors you have.

    Tips for prospective students

The meal plans are a bit of a rip off but you save a lot of money if you don't buy drinks, carry a water bottle around instead - it's healthy for you anyways.

    In three sentences

Edinboro is a good size if you don't want to be overwhelmed by a bigger school but still have diversity. Be use to snow if you want to come. A good option with the growing college costs as well.

    Bang for the buck

Not a very expensive school when you compare it to others, but they find the most random ways to get extra money out of every student. Especially through the food and housing. Theres not a lot to do on campus, but this makes it easier to focus on school. There are a lot of available things on campus that are great, like the gym or lounges..

    What to do for fun

Not much to do for fun other than homework haha...

    Food and Dining

Food is way overpriced. Not very good food at all, and is misleading about the options. There is a lot of different places to eat on campus but all are using the same food simply in different ways, and none of it is very good.

    Dorm Life

I live in the highlands and it is great. I have my own room, and share a small kitchen, shower and toilet with four others. Worth the extra cost.

    Academic Rigor

Depends on your major. I'm an art student, and its rigorous but helpful. Everything I'm learning is easy to apply, and is worth the work and time spent.

    Tips for prospective students

If you can afford to live in the highlands. Try to cook or bring your own food as much as possible, the food is awful. Lots of warm clothes if you are out of state like I am..

    In three sentences

Its small enough you can get to know a lot of people well, but big enough its not like a bigger version of high school. Housing and food is way to expensive, and not worth it, but you have no choice. Not a whole lot to do in town or anywhere other than erie...

    Campus Safety

The president of the university has recently instituted a new program where students may have police give them rides during certain hours of the night. Each dorm comes with an RA and several levels of scanned door security to enter the individual wings with rooms.

    Greek Life

Greek life is very friendly to newcomers and is a good method to get introduced to the campus and all of the various clubs to pursue.

    Clubs and Activities

There are countless amounts of clubs and endless possibilities to gain recognition on campus. If there isn't something you like, you can just start your own club using your own innovation. After you are recognized, you may receive funding from the Student Government Association to perform whichever duties you deem fit.

Great for these types of students

Edinboro is great for anyone with a physical dependency. In addition to all amenities and specific dorm rooms made for those with physical handicaps, Edinboro aids students by allowing them to focus in special education and these special education students will directly aid those with physical handicaps.

    What to do for fun

Edinboro offers several outlets for fun including a full-service gym which includes racket-ball, basketball courts, a track, rock climbing obstacle course, and many other activities. There is a game room where students may play traditional arcade games to checking out consoles like the X-box and Play-stations. Edinboro has other fun nights like karaoke night or comedian night where they will bring in a comedian to entertain students.

    Food and Dining

Dining is of exceptional quality. There is more than 10 locations for students to grab a snack or eat a meal on campus. Meal plans come at a price but are a good introduction to keeping a student well-fed.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is an aspect that may need review. New regulations demand that prospective students enlist in a mandatory 2 year contract for the Highlands which offers troubling prices and other mandatory stipulations such as meal plans as compared to off campus housing opportunity. On the upside, Edinboro has phased out older traditional dorm buildings by building the Highlands which offer a hotel-like feeling.

    Academic Rigor

As with any university, Edinboro's courseload entirely depends on the student. It is up to you to take however many credits you would like and generally speaking the lower the credit-load the lower the amount of work you need to complete. Courses generally wean their way up to higher levels of difficulties and often require prerequisites so you needn't worry about any unreasonable academic demand. Edinboro's professors are ready to assist you to greater understanding of the necessary material with their office hours. If that doesn't pan out, you may check upon several of the university's tutoring resources.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are looking at Edinboro and are from a warm-climate area, you need to prepare for cold weather. As for any university, you must keep in mind that the purpose of attending a university is for education.

    In three sentences

Edinboro professors offer a much superior quality than what the university charges in tuition per semester. In my opinion, this is of vital importance when picking a school because it isn't how much you spend, but how much you learn. Despite a lot of downplaying of quality from the local area, Edinboro has established itself as one of the best schools for physically handicapped students with a full support staff to tend to their needs.
