Be yourself and study what your passionate about, Emerson has many unique majors that cater to specific passions. As well, always meet deadlines, it's important and very professional. And the most valuable tip is to always be grateful and appreciative, say things you might not always say outloud - such as thank you, asking about people, and caring.

It can be overwhelming to enter the extracurricular scene in regards to filmmaking, but try not to be deterred, or feel as though you have to join every film set to move ahead in your studies and career. There are plenty of opportunities to get experience when you want them, but don't be afraid to say no either.

Make sure you visit the campus, because even though it is beautiful and amazing, to really get a feel of what the college is, you have to be there to understand if it is for you. Also, make sure you understand what Emerson offers. It is not a performing arts college, but a communications college. There's no music or anything like that; it has a lot of opportunities that span a wide range so long as you understand what they are.

I wouldn't necessarily be the best person to give advice on this topic. I never visited the school before I came because I live across the country, so the travelling just wasn't in my budget. If you are in the same boat as I was, just look up as much information that you can as possible about the school. Look at the online tours of the dorms, look at the alumni, and take into consideration of how much money you are paying. Get as many scholarships as possible so you are not in debt the rest of your life.

If you are going to apply to Emerson, make sure you are passionate because this school dunks you into your chosen field in and out of the classroom. Be prepared to work harder than you ever have before. Most importantly, be ready to learn and create.
