Categories Comments Great for these types of students Audiophiles, musicians, and film kids will find themselves right at home here.
Tips for prospective students The audio program is intense - do not fall behind in Audio 101 - Audio Recording Theory. Don't just memorize the facts and repeat them back. Make sure you really understand it, since the rest of the program is built on those basic fundamental concepts. The teachers are willing to help if you find yourself struggling and there's an abundance of tutors available in the academic support office.
Bang for the buck Take one look at the studios on campus, and you'll see where all your tuition money is going to. The console in Studio A is especially impressive and the collection of microphones we have access to is better than most I'll end up using in most the average professional studio.
Am enjoying being here I live in one of the four dorm buildings, and during the week, I definitely enjoy being here. My class schedule is great and there's enough work to keep me busy and enough people around to keep it interesting. The weekends living on campus are a little boring though since there isn't much around unless you want to take the LIRR to New York City.
Am learning a lot The audio program here is phenomenal. The on campus studios are well equipped and kept up to date with the latest equipment. My audio professors and studio assistants know the subject inside and out and have been an absolute pleasure to work with. That being said, the business program is pretty average - not that it's bad, but it feels lacking, especially in comparison to the audio program.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Being a Theatre Major I spend a lot of time at five towns. So if you are dedicated to your major and don't mind spending late nights at school this is deffintly a school for you.
Tips for prospective students Really get to know your professors or advisors they are all people who have had experience in your destined career and they may be able to help you in the real world. Also get to know and impress your fellow students, you never know what oppurtunities you'll be able to get from fellow students in the future.
Am learning a lot At Five Towns I have learned from actually doing activities, like building a set, or putting together theatre lights.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Five Towns is great for aspiring artists, musicians, film students, entrepreneurs, and theater students. It is a school filled with talent, inspirations, and passion. Five Towns College tries to make the best possible individuals upon graduating.
Tips for prospective students The talent you will be surrounded by will definitely motivate you to pursue your dreams. There is always something going on at the campus that you will always stay involved if you choose to. We are only about 45 minutes away from the city, so finding something to do is not a problem. The environment at Five Towns is positive and motivating.
Bang for the buck The price is high, and going through a financial crisis could endanger your chances of attending the following year, but applying for scholarships is the key. Never give up by just looking at the price and thinking you will not be able to afford it. There are so many scholarships at both the school and online websites. It is possible for everyone to afford college in many different ways. Five Towns College is not the most expensive school out there, but the price does match up to what type of education you receive. Classes range from 5 to 30 students, which makes learning easier. There is a big advantage attending Five Towns, so the price is just right for what you get.
Am enjoying being here Five Towns College is a small school. With that being said, it is a very positive aspect to the whole college experience. Everyone gets to know you, and getting your name out there is easy. Joining clubs can help you gain so many friends, while giving you the college experience. The possibilities are limitless attending a small school like Five Towns College.
Am learning a lot The classes here are great, in which they help you not only excel in your major, but they give you background information on broader topics as well. The curriculum allow students to master their craft, as well as acknowledge other subjects that are similar to broaden their education. The professors and staff all have great backgrounds and talents. Learning from the professors alone is very beneficial. Hearing about the businesses they are successfully running, and the projects they have done in the past really inspires students to follow their dreams.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are no nurses around. There are only safety kits all over the school. People in wheel chair have to go outside even in the cold because there are no ramps inside the building for them. The good side to it is that the school is so small that nothing can possibly go wrong.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs. However, many change every semester because they are run by students so if a student decides to quit and there is not one soul to take over, there won't be any club anymore. Overall the clubs are very creative and fun.
Great for these types of students GREAT FOR CREATIVE PEOPLE!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus is not that big. This college used to be an old elementary school so it's pretty small.
What to do for fun If you are going to dorm there aren't a lot of fun places to go. For fun is mostly focusing in your career, there isn't much fun going on. = (
Food and Dining It is pretty healthy and good. However is a bit pricey and there are times that there is not a lot of variety.
Dorm Life I Don't know about the dorm life. I never dorm. From what I heard it kinda sucks. The only bright side is having rooms that are big and pretty much new because they build a couple years back. Also, the community is a good community. What's messed up is that the school is in the middle of a residential area, so there aren't many close places to hang out.
Academic Rigor For an average person it is easy to say it is the perfect school for you. If you have difficulty with academics such as English, Math,... not to worry people will always be there to help you out. However if you are a smarty pants believe me this is not the school for you. But if you are smart and want hands on right away more than academics this is definitely that school for you!
Tips for prospective students Be ready to use all you know. Open your mind to new learning and remember to be as creative as you can. The school is mostly for those people who love small classes and small groups. So you will be seeing the same people over and over. You will make a lot of friends while learning at the same time.
In three sentences It is a good college to get hands on right away but it is not the best school to get the best academics at times. There are some teachers that just graduate and become the new teachers at FTC. However, the teachers for Film/Video are great.
