Am learning a lot
I am learning a lot here at Florida A and M University. I learn more about our past as African Americans here than i have anywhere else. We are constantly told that a first appearance is everything because you only have one time to make it and since we are a school known to host a lot of very important people that lesson is taken to heart. As an SBIAN our saying is, No Academic Pain, No Professional Gain! hopefully that says it all for you
Am enjoying being here
The atmosphere here is great. i myself made some friends my first day and have been hanging since. i work at school alot and since i am a freshman this year is was important to established a friendship with some of th upper classman which i have as an SBIAN established relationships with people who are third and fourth year and m.b.a students as well as my own freshman class
Tips for prospective students

FAMU has helped me choose the best major for me and has helped the teachers in my college go out of their way to make sure that I have the best experiences and am taking the right classes to be successful in my major
Am enjoying being here
FAMU is not like any other school in that the students at FAMU are help to help one another. The school spirit and the closeness of the student body is amazing. Everyone helps one another in many ways, FAMU helps you build connections that will last a lifetime.
Bang for the buck
Compared to other schools FAMU is very economical and moderately priced for the education you will be recieving.
Tips for prospective students
Go to FAMU with no expectations because it will be WHAT YOU MAKE IT. Everyone's experience is different it just depends on how you spend your time here.
Great for these types of students
Business majors, Agricultural Majors, Pharmacy Majors, Journalism Majors

FAMU is a HBCU that is known for it's African American heritage and minority excellence. They offer a highly esteemed Pharmacy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, MBA, Health Care Management, Health Informant's Management and Engineering programs. FAMU is also the home of the FAMU Marching 100 Band.
Tips for prospective students
When attending FAMU, be prepared for excellence. Open your mind to unlimited higher educational experiences. Embrace the melting pot of different cultures and ideals. Enhance your Learning and networking skills that will benefit you in campus life and in the work place.
Academic Rigor
FAMU is a wonderful experience that you will grow into and learn to be better prepared for life lessons in your personal life and in the work force.
Dorm Life
Dorm life will help you to be organized, responsible and accountable.
Food and Dining
The food looks, taste and smells good. Students make sure that they do not miss a great meal provided by FAMU staff. There is also snacks, coffee and a variety of sweet treats to satisfy the different palates of their students.
What to do for fun
There is a bowling alley on campus. A game-room. If you want to style your hair, they have a weave and hair store on campus. There is a full gym for exercising your body. Students can also go swimming, play tennis, run on the track field or walk around campus for exercise.
Bang for the buck
There is always something to do on campus. 2013 will be the return of the Marching 100. And that means more excitement for all Rattlers in Rattler Nation.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Fried Chicken Wensdays, gives KFC a run for their money. FAMU students enjoy the fabulous fried chicken in the Student Union. You can look forward to smelling fried chicken on the campus and craving for a chicken leg or two.
Great for these types of students
FAMU is great for potential students who are interested in pursuing a career in Pharmacy, Nursing, Business, Allied Sciences or Psychology. FAMU is a multicultural University. And attracts potential students from Puerto Rico, Africa, Spain and Brazil just to name a few
Clubs and Activities
Students can participate in clubs that are affiliated with their college major. For example, my major is Health Care Management (HCM) and I am a member of the Student Health Care Management Association (SHCMA).
Greek Life
Greek life is active and hazing free. There is no tolerance of hazing on or off of campus. And any reports or suspicions of hazing will be investigated immediately and be reprimanded accordingly. FAMU wants all students to be responsible and safe on or off campus.
Campus Safety
FAMU's website offers each student the opportunity to have texted alerts sent to their phone when the Campus Police are investigating a situation on campus. This service is active at all times, during and after campus activities.

As a native northerner, I was very apprehensive about enrolling in a southern school-- especially one that is currently dealing with a national scandal. However, In the few weeks I have been here, my opinion has completely evolved. The academics, the atmosphere, the facilities, and of course, the student body are wonderful, and, I am very happy to call FAMU my home for the next four years.
Tips for prospective students
Be nice, speak up, and be persistent!

Academic Rigor
I am still early in the semester, but the instructors I have had thus far were not difficult, but they require an average amount of effort. Listen, take notes, turn off your phone and i-pod, and do your homework. Most importantly: Study.
Dorm Life
SHOWER SHOES, and throw rugs are a must. Also, have your own refrigerator and microwave. The cafeteria is on the opposite side of campus from the five main girls dormitories, and I doubt you want to make that hike everyday. Double rooms are roughly 12.5x13.5 feet-- a pretty decent size, I feel. Not a mansion, but not too cramped either.
Food and Dining
The cafeteria has a pizza bar, salad bar, hamburgers,a dessert station, made-to-order sub sandwiches and made-to-order stir fry. There are several chain restaurants on campus, including two coffee shops, pizza hut, and a grill. The food is good, fresh, hot, healthy, and there is a good variety.
What to do for fun
The shuttle system can take you to the mall, local attractions, and will bring you back to campus or your off campus apartment. Every Friday, students perform their original music, and often hand out samples free of charge. There is a campus recreation center, theater, bowling alley, various clubs, activities, and sports.
Bang for the buck
If you want a school that offers life, learning, top notch facilities, and great resources, FAMU is a good pick.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
The FAMU marching 100, regardless of current troubles, are all top notch musicians and performers.
Great for these types of students
Great for musicians, artists, scientists, and law school hopefuls.
Clubs and Activities
There really are too many to count, and many of them are partnered or affiliated with outside organizations. The schools literary magazine, Cake, is open to both students and staff, and is widely read on campus. There are your basic clubs-- arts, theater, musical, anime...
Greek Life
Though I am not personally involved in Greek life, there is a strong influence around them.
Campus Safety
There are many preventative measures, like access-card-only- dorms, outdoor lamps, security officers, cameras, and emergency alert posts throughout campus. However, with an open campus, where anyone can walk on campus and into buildings, there is still risk, though it is fairly average in amount.

Here the professors have a tendency to want to help their students understand the material. If the student shows a conscious effort to want to learn, the professors will gladly help
Am enjoying being here
The HBCU experience is awe inspiring. Everyone here is beyond friendly and all the administrators are readily helpful to those in need.
Tips for prospective students
Many people argue the importance of going to big named schools in order to get the best education. I've noticed that no matter what school he or she enrolls in, it is always going to be up to the student do their part in making the most out of their education opportunity. Likewise, no matter where they go, the raw material that each professor teaches should be the same. Therefore Florida A & M University is just as good as any school when it comes to gaining a quality education.

This pass term I've learned great social, professional, and leadership skills. Being avoid in extra-curriculum is not an option, it is a must. You will fill oblige to join numerous of organizations, be involved in your major, not because you have to but because you want to.
Am enjoying being here
Being at Florida A and M allowed me to met one of the greatest organization on campus called Voices, which is the first poetry groups on campus. Through them, I gained a chance to be more involved in the community of Tallahassee, also the opportunity to be a leader, and increase my talent as an poet.
Bang for the buck
For out of state students, yes it is expansive. It is well worth it, only if you know what to do while you are here. You will get a great balance of the party life, academic life, and life in general.
Tips for prospective students
When you first arrive make sure your Financial Aid is in order.
Make sure you have a way to pay for school.
Never stop applying for scholarships.
Surround yourself with positivity, although this is a great institute, their is still negativity surrounding it.
Get involved in school, if you sit around, you will hate it.
Great for these types of students
Future Leaders
lawyers
dreamers
hard- workers
etc. This school is great for everybody but sloths, but even than this school can break that.
