Great for these types of students

Christian-non denominational Baptist Lutheran Private Schooled Focused/Serious Students Anyone

    Tips for prospective students

Stay on top of deadlines and do extra researching during the summer on colleges. Check Gardner-Webb out it is a great university in North Carolina.

    Will enjoy being here

The environment was pleasant. There are nice big quads (green grass areas) located right outside the halls and buildings. Their quad is a great place to study, or play frisbee! The staff and students were very friendly. Gardner-Webb has a lot of events for their students, many stay on campus for the weekends. Something fun to do is usually held on Friday at their campus.

    Will learn a lot

Gardner-Webb is a generally small university; the class sizes at GWU provides an excellent environment for learning, asking questions, and getting involved. It's a good thing that at GWU your professor can know you. At GWU your not just a number, your a student!

Great for these types of students

GWU is great for students who want or like a more personal experience with other students and college staff. It is a Christian University so you will not have the typical public university environment. If you are a student seeking a good education, a heart to serve, and a small school GWU is for you.

    Tips for prospective students

I recommend for prospective students that they spend a night or weekend on campus and check out what it has to offer. GWU is great about making the arrangements, you stay in one of the dorms and have a GWU student to hang out with for the weekend. A great way to get the feel of college life, the GWU students and the campus.

    Bang for the buck

The cost of Gardner-Webb is more than a public university but the advantages offered on the campus are worth it. The campus is awesome and provides great places to hang out with friends. GWU is in a small town but there is always something to do on campus or in about 15- 30 minutes you can go to one of the larger towns for more restaurants, shopping or movies.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy being at Gardner-Webb because of the people and opportunities I have to work along side my professors and advisers not only in classroom but in the community of Boiling Springs. It has been easy to make friends and become involved in activities as a freshman student because of the mentoring program GWU provides to new students.

    Am learning a lot

Gardner-Webb University allows you to not just be part of the university as a student but to work along side the staff, professors and help the community in projects and activities. The classes are small which allows for a more personal interaction with classmates and professors. Professors and staff care about the students success and make you feel important not just a number in the class.

Great for these types of students

    Hard-working Motivated Christian

    Tips for prospective students

Take a tour. I toured at Dawg Days and it is so much fun. You take a campus tour and attend a financial aid session, go to a falculty fair, and eat lunch in the student center, and if you go in the fall you get to watch a football game for free. The second I stepped on campus I knew it was the place for me. Scholarships are so important. GWU is expensive and they do offer some great scholarships, so make sure you pay attention to deadlines. Take advantage of Overnight at the Pound visits. They give you the opportunity to stay the night in a dorm, sit in on classes, and see what it's like to actually be a student.

    Bang for the buck

GWU is expensive, but the cost is worth it. Classes are small and you get a lot of personal attention from professors.

    Will enjoy being here

GWU is in a small town, but Boiling Springs is a great. Plus, the campus holds movie nights and other activities, so there's almost always something to do. It also has a great Christian atmosphere and a beautiful campus. The students and admission staff are so friendly and were so willing to help. The dorms are great and clean, and most are close to the quad.

    Will learn a lot

I haven't started here yet, but on my tour I got to meet professors and I know I will learn a lot. They cared enough to stop and talk to you about potential majors, your intrests, and many I talked to exchanged email addresses with me, so we could keep in touch about classes I was intrested in taking.

Great for these types of students

This school would be great for Christians, every religion is welcomed here but we take pride in our Christianity! Blind, deaf, and hard of hearing, because we have a great program for these people. The noel program suits needs for them and you can look it up on their website i think! This is also a good school for athletes, we are a division 1 program in every sport that we have. This school is also great for people that are used to living in the country! I truly believe that anybody could fit in here because there are so many groups, clubs, intramural, etc that people can be a part of.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't come here and plan to party! Dry campus and county, the campus police and RA's are very strict about alcohol and tobacco.

    Bang for the buck

Extremely good price for the school, the campus is beautiful and highly regarded in the area. The education is absolutely fabulous.

    Am enjoying being here

the school itself i have no complaints about, i think the campus is as great as it can be. but as for a location, its in the middle of know where and can get extremely boring. if you attend here you should get involved in as many activities, clubs, intramurals, etc. as possible!

    Am learning a lot

Gardner-Webb is a great school. The professors are extremely helpful and are willing to meet with you at any time. One of my professors even had his class over for dinner! The professors here build relationships with their students and always seem to help their students whether its with school, personal problems, or anything you can think of.

Great for these types of students

I feel that GWU is great for students that are determined to do their best to get their college education!

    Tips for prospective students

My tips for any student would be when you are starting out at any college, not just GWU, make sure that you get to know your professors at the start of the semester. Send them emails, go in and talk to them. Don't wait till you fail a test to start getting to know the professor. You have to show the professor that you really do care about your education and that you want the best out of the teaching from the professor. Also, if you take any online classes, make sure that you spend all your time studying, don't slack off on your studying, online classes could be hard if students don't study, but for the ones that put their best effort into their classwork, it will pay off!

    Bang for the buck

The education that you receive at GWU is definitely a bang for the buck. It may be pretty expensive compared to other schools; however, when you get the great education that you get here at GWU, it really does pay off with the money situation.

    Am enjoying being here

I am living at my house, but as I said, I go to the campus once a week, and I really do enjoy it. I just started at GWU, as I stated, and I really do enjoy it! I always tell everyone that I come in contact with that I really am enjoying it. Also, everybody is so very kind here at GWU, the professors, employees, advisors, and other students.

    Am learning a lot

I am currently enrolled in the GOAL program here at GWU. I am enrolled in 5 classes. I am taking 4 of my classes online and 1 of my classes I have actually on the Boiling Springs campus at night. Some individuals say that you can never learn when taking online classes, but that is a very untrue statement. Yes, you have to put all your time into studying; however, I am learning so many new things this semester. Also, with my class that I am taking in class, Quantitative Methods of Business, I have never done this work before, but I am really learning a lot in this class and getting the hang of the information.

Great for these types of students

Any, the town that G.W. is located is a very small, quite country town. The closest big town is Charlotte therefore it's probably not for people that want to part or go out a lot.

    Tips for prospective students

Get on the scholarships! These are vital in your education at Gardner-Webb!

    Bang for the buck

It is a very expensive private college, it is important to have scholarships.

    Am enjoying being here

It is a very nice campus, very small and the students are very welcoming to new students. Before the first semester all new students are involved in freshman orientation where you'll meet your big brothers/ big sisters and participate in community service along with other building activities. It is a very nice environment to learn in.

    Am learning a lot

Currently I'm enrolled in the core classes needed to graduate, I just completed my first round of finals for all of these classes. I am learning a lot and I'm enjoying many classes I before thought I would not.

The campus is a must if you are a small town guy or girl. The atmosphere is friendly and so are the people.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you ask all of the questions you need to know before starting the program of our choice.

    Am learning a lot

I am currently enrolled in the Education Program at Gardner-Webb University. The environment is friendly and you will get a lot of one on one attention. The only disadvantage is the lack of time spent in outside schools.

Great for these types of students

Gardner-Webb is great for students who are searching for a school that will not only help them to further their education, but also further their walk with Christ.

    Tips for prospective students

My first tip would be to visit the campus. I believe that is the only way you can truly grasp everything that Gardner-Webb has to offer. For me, the visit was my deciding factor. The first time I stepped on the campus I knew that I would spend my next four years there. My second tip would be to look into scholarships and financial aid programs. As I mentioned earlier, the only downside to Gardner-Webb is the price. It is worth the expense though, so if you can figure out a way to pay for it then it makes your decision much easier.

    Bang for the buck

The price is the only downside that I can think of about a Gardner-Webb. It is expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. The education and the experience you will receive at Gardner-Webb can not compare to that of a cheaper public school.

    Am enjoying being here

I have absolutely enjoyed every minute that I've been at Gardner-Webb. I feel like this is exactly where I am supposed to be; it is my home away from home. From the campus and the courses, to the students and professors, to the clubs and activities - I love everything that Gardner-Webb has to offer. I fell in love with this school the first time I visited, and after living on campus for a year my admiration is still just as strong.

    Am learning a lot

I just finished my first year at Gardner-Webb and I've learned so much already just in my core classes. One advantage of Gardner-Webb being a private school is that the classes are smaller so you are able to get to know the professors on a personal basis and if you have question they are more than willing to answer it. Gardner-Webb offers tutoring and other services to help insure that you not only learn the material, but you can also understand and apply it to your life.

Great for these types of students

A student who loves to get to know their professor and grow a relationship with them that goes farther than just the classroom. If you ever have a problem then you can always go back to an old professor and they will help you just like you still had them.

    Tips for prospective students

When you start school, have your mind on your studies first, and the other things second. Your studies are the most important thing in college.

    Bang for the buck

Worth every bit of the money that you spend here.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the atmosphere of the school. When you walk onto this campus you can feel the warmth and the welcome from the Gardner-Webb community.

    Am learning a lot

The professors are wonderful and are willing to help in any part of the day. The university is small enough so that the professors can get to know you as a person, and not just a number.

    Campus Safety

other than car break ins, this is an insanely safe campus. we have a full police squad on our campus, they are constantly driving around and they are always here. i have never once felt unsafe, even when walking around by myself at 2 am.

    Greek Life

we don't have greek life, if you want a frat party, you should go somewhere else.

    Clubs and Activities

there are a lot of academic and ministry clubs on campus, i personally think there could be more, but it really comes down to the fact that other students haven't started them yet. there is great potential, someone just needs to make more.

Great for these types of students

anyone really. there is a niche for everyone.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

we have geese that will attack you, we toilet paper the whole campus the night before our homecoming football game and walking through the arch is bad luck. it means you won't graduate on time.

    What to do for fun

there aren't a ton of things to do in this general area. it's a small town, but you can make your own fun. intramural sports, actual sporting events, and going to the river are three main things that people do around here. also, res-life and student activities host lots of things so there is always something going on. and charlotte and asheville aren't far away, so if you want to do something else you can always travel there.

    Food and Dining

more like prison food, but it has it's good days. luckily we are getting a new student center so we will have a food court with more options so the food will be better. we currently only have a cafeteria, simply to go and a chickfila. but next fall with the addition of our student center, there will be a lot more options.

    Dorm Life

i lived in a dorm for 2 years and i met some of the most amazing people i ever could. we don't have co-ed housing, but we have a great community. res-life does a great job at making people feel welcome and building a sense of community and family among the dorms. we also have visitation hours when the opposite sex can be in your room, but we do not have a curfew. i loved living in the dorms, and i would do it all over again if i could.

    Academic Rigor

gardner-webb is a tough school. there are obviously some majors that are harder than others, but we do have a rigorous core. you get a taste of every department and our faculty hold students on a high level. they don't want you to memorize answers, they want you to actually think.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. bring a pair of flip flops and dedicate them as your shower shoes. 2. don't try to be someone else to fit in, people will like you for who you are, not how many times you can say cool story bro 3. don't be a slacker, skipping class and not doing work won't get you anywhere in college, it will just make you look stupid and cost you in the long run. 4. have fun. college is the time of your life, so make it the best that you can.

    In three sentences

this is a really great campus. it's small, but personal, you really get to know the students and professors on a personal level which is really important. it's a close knit community that helps you grow academically and as a person.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is very important and the University police takes that job seriously. They are open 24 hours and they always drive around campus to make sure we are all safe.

    What to do for fun

With the new Student Center opening this year there will be a lot more things to do for fun. More restaurants will be in there as well as a movie theater.

    Food and Dining

The food in the cafeteria was not always the best, but we had chic-fil-a in another building if we wanted that. Also, there is a new building opening this year and it has a lot more food opportunities.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life depends on which dorm you live in and who your residence are. All the dorms are clean and safe, but the people on your hall make up your dorm life.

    Academic Rigor

Academic rigor depends on the teacher and his or her teaching style. Some teachers make learning fun with their teaching style, other teachers not so much. The challenge is based on you and how you learn best.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to every class because that is what you are paying for and teachers notice your attendance. Also, don't be so attached to one set of friends, get acquainted with everyone. Always talk to your teachers when you do not understand something.

    In three sentences

Gardner-Webb is a safe and friendly environment that allows you to grow in so many ways. Gardner-Webb has the nicest teachers that genuinely care about your future and your success as a student. Gardner-Webb has fun activities that keep the students interested.

    Campus Safety

Very safe, University Police is always on the prowl.

    Greek Life

    No Greek life.

    Clubs and Activities

Lots of different sports teams, clubs to join, or extracurricular activities to do.

Great for these types of students

Students looking to become theologians, or for music, business, computer science majors. The football team is not the best but those looking can get a pretty sizeable scholarship.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There's a small playground behind the campus, so it can be a little odd to see a bunch of college students playing there.

    Bang for the buck

It can be very expensive and you may feel that you are being ripped off.

    What to do for fun

Lots of sports, a free gym for students, and people are always looking to hang out. Go to the football games or other sports games!

    Food and Dining

It's cafeteria food, but plenty of fast food is within walking distance.

    Dorm Life

People are always open to listen to you, and the people on your hall will quickly become your best friends.

    Academic Rigor

People will complain about the classes and professors, but if you pay attention, you should have no problem.

    Tips for prospective students

Get to know your hallmates, your classmates, and pay attention in your classes. In small classrooms, the professors will take note of those who care about the material.

    In three sentences

Great yet challenging small private college. Not much of a party scene (no Greek Life and it is a dry town), but close friendships are made and it is a lot of fun. Lots of different majors for everyone, not just for theologians.

On campus, there is a gym, and lots of paths to walk on. It is a beautiful campus to walk around. Within walking distance of the school there is a coffee shop that is a great place to hang out. GWU is also 1 hour from Charlotte, so it is easy driving distance from a city with great night life opportunities.

    Food and Dining

GWU tries to make a lot of options available. They are putting in a new student center that is supposed to have even more options available in it. The food is usually really good.

    Dorm Life

A lot of the dorms are in the process of being redone. The school is working to improve them for the students. Living in the dorms is a great way to make friends. They have created a very close-knit, friendly environment that makes school feel like home.

    Academic Rigor

    Greek Life

Gardner-Webb University doesn't support the Greek Life, but there are a variety of clubs and organizations that cater to the desires of every student.

    Clubs and Activities

There are all kinds of clubs that fit your talent or hobby. Student activities are very fun and free.

Deaf, Blind, and Handicap have access to the Noel program. There is always way of communication.

There is always an event Monday night before finals called Pancake Bingo Night. Students win hundreds of dollars of prizes.

    Bang for the buck

It is too expensive for the quality of school.

    What to do for fun

Go to the Broad River and hike, go worship at the Verge.

    Food and Dining

The Caf is buffet style, Chickfila is delicious. Next fall 2012 new food services will be open and more accessible.

    Dorm Life

Community is the most important thing in the dorms. This is a great place to find friends.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers care about your success as a person. Academics are high, but the biggest goal is to mold their students to be well rounded humans.

    Tips for prospective students

Bring an open mind. Just because it is a small town that doesn't mean it is a boring place.

COOKOUT! Not to far from Gardner-Webb there is a restaurant called Cookout. This place has great hamburgers, chicken, and the absolute best milkshakes ever (in 30+ different flavors)! This place is open super late, usually to about two or three in the morning, which is convenient when studying late. Plus, they give you so much food and it is super cheap, which every college student loves.

    What to do for fun

Gardner-Webb is located in Boiling Springs, NC. This is a very small town and since the town is so small sometimes the town itself does not provide Gardner-Webb students with a lot to do. The university tries to help with that as much as possible through arranging trips to football games, movie nights on the quad, pancake bingo night, and dances. And if all this fails to keep us entertained, GWU is not far from Charlotte, NC where there is always something to do for everyone.

    Food and Dining

In the past, the food at the Cafeteria at GWU has not always been pleasant, but it has vastly improved the past couple of years, not only that but there is also a larger selection of places now besides just the cafeteria. These places range from Chic-fil-A, to a cool new hamburger joint, to an Asian food place, or the coolest option of the World of Wings Cafe.

    Dorm Life

My experience with dorm life has been great! The girls on my halls have been spectacular and loads of fun to hang out with, but they are also there for you when you need them. The resident advisers are always having fun events and programs that encourage bonding with your hall mates and community.

    Academic Rigor

Classes at Gardner-Webb sometimes vary in difficulty. Most of the time the core classes tend to be the easier ones and most major classes are harder. Depending on the major you choose will also depend on class difficulty, sometimes certain classes are harder for certain majors than others. There is plenty of work to do; if you want your degree, you are going to have to work for it. It is usually as hard as you make it.

    Tips for prospective students

The best advice that I can give to any new college student would to get out and meet new people and get involved!

    In three sentences

There are a few things that make Gardner-Webb stand out. Among those would be the friendly people, the environment, and the professors. Gardner-Webb's environment is so welcoming, and that is not only because of the beautiful campus, it is also the great people. The professors here really take the time to get to know their students and they genuinely care about their students in and out of the classroom.

The campus is very safe. The campus is well-lit particularly at night and campus police are at your service at the touch of a button. There are emergency stations placed in conveinient areas around campus, and the Boiling Springs police are right down the road if you need them. The gentlemen on campus are also quite helpful as they will escort the ladies back to their dorms at night if she so chooses.

There are many activities one can take part in. During the warm months students enjoy going down to the Broad River Greenway for a picnic, fishing, pictures, swimming, or to play on the playground. Right outside of town there is also bowling, movie theatres, and many shopping venues. On campus there are also activities every weekend from foam parties, to gameshows (in which you can win money), concerts, to sports games and bounce houses, balloons, FOOD, races, and much, much more! Student activities does a wonderful job of planning things for students and one great thing about Gardner-Webb is that there is Food at every event!

There are also many restaurants and grocery stores off campus to get food from such as Ingles, Olive Garden, Papa's Pizza, Ruby Tuesday, Fatz Cafe, Dollar General, Italian Garden, Walmart, and IHOP just to name a few select.

    Dorm Life

The dorm community is very nice to experience. One is allowed the chance to meet many new people and make new friends whilst living in a dorm. The facilities in the dorms along with the room sizes are pleasing. The housekeeping staff does a great job of keeping things sanitary, neat , clean, and also smelling nice. The people you live with also help keep things tidy because no one wants to live in a dirty mess!

They have 3 different kinds of police on campus. They will escort you anywhere if you feel unsafe or if there is ever an emergency you just dial their number and they'll be there in less than 60 seconds. They also have swipey cards to get in the dorms and other buildings so some person off the street can't get in. No one that shouldn't be there can't get in.

    Greek Life

They never talked about Greek Life on the tour but if your interested you can contact them or ask them whenever you visit.

    Clubs and Activities

They have tons of activities and clubs. Too many clubs to list. They have Christian activities and giving back to the community activities and many, many, MANY clubs! If they don't have a club you can make one which is nice.

Great for these types of students

This is definitely for someone who wants to get a degree but stay close to God. I haven't been connected with the Lord lately but this is a school that does that exactly. There are 40 churches in a mile radius of the place in all directions, from what I heard at the visit.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

They have this one tradition they do every year where they don't wear shoes for the entire day to raise awareness and to get a feel for the poor people that don't have shoes.

    Bang for the buck

Gardner Webb does have a free application if you do it online which is good for us poor people. The fee is about $34,000 a year, which isn't that bad for what it offers. It's would definitely be worth it though!

    What to do for fun

There are tons of things to do on campus. First of all they have a wicked rock climbing wall in the Tucker Student Center. They also have a high ropes course kind-of thing in the woods. You could go swimming in their indoor pool, whenever the swim teams not meeting of course. There's sports, sports games, laying under the trees. Eating. Going into the drive-in movies. Going to Fuzzy Peach and eating Frozen Yogurt!! There are also student lead nights and just going to church can be fun. There is always something to keep you busy on campus which is really nice.

    Food and Dining

The food is delicious andddd...they have a chocolate milk machine!!! The best thing EVER! They also have a Starbucks and Chick Fila, which seems to be a must on most Campus' these days. They have a cafeteria that is buffet style with a HUGE variety.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is amazing. Even though the halls aren't coed, the apartments are. The dorms are separated by gender and class. The bathrooms are clean and homey unlike most colleges. The rooms are air conditioned and the rooms are livable.

    Academic Rigor

The amount of time and effort these professors put into their students is unbelievable. This is a one time thing at Gardner-Webb that you may or may not find at other colleges. I sat in on a class and it was AMAZING! If you are serious about Gardner, definitely sit in on a class. It is worth it's wait and gold. I learned so much in 2 hours from an awesome professor. The classes are small and you WILL get to know your professor here!

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely visit the campus and visit Gardner-Webb's website. On there you can find a virtual tour that takes you all over the campus. You need to see what kind of college's you like. This one is focused on Christians so you need to see if you like that or not.

Being a small, Christian oriented school, not too much happens on campus. However, we do have campus police who are available 24/7 whenever someone needs help. They will unlock your door if you forget your key, and do whatever they can to make you feel safe if you feel that something is wrong.

    Greek Life

I am not too familiar with the Greek life on campus, however I do know some people who are involved with it. Gardner-Webb offers different Greek courses.

    Clubs and Activities

There are different clubs and activities students can get involved in such as intramural sports, small groups, bible studies or even just hanging out with your friends, watching a movie in the lobby. There are monthly movie nights on campus where students get together to watch a variety of movies.

Great for these types of students

Gardner-Webb is a Christian oriented school. Believers and in non-believers of Christ are welcomed with open arms. No judgements are made based on what you believe. There are many bible study groups and youth groups for those who love to serve Christ.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Tuesday nights is when most students attend The Verge. It is a student-led worship service for anyone who wants to go. Students are not forced to go, but it is very fun and fulfilling!

    Bang for the buck

Gardner-Webb University is a very expensive school if you don't have adequate funding. However, the education received is well worth it. We have some of the best professors out there, in my opinion.

    What to do for fun

Getting engaged is the best way to enjoy yourself at Gardner-Webb. There are intramural sports teams, bible study groups, a gym, a pond to walk around, etc. Interacting with other students is the best way to have fun!

    Food and Dining

Dining services are decent at Gardner-Webb. There are three or four lines to choose from, and some of the cafeteria staff will cook you whatever you please.

    Dorm Life

Different residence halls offer different atmospheres. Overall, the dorms are nice and well-kept. Gardner-Webb offers a comfortable atmosphere that is as close to home as you can get.

    Academic Rigor

The professors and classes are relatively tough, but worth it. With an adequate amount of time set aside for studying, the students will have no problem receiving their education.

    Tips for prospective students

My advice would be to apply for as many scholarships as possible and stay focused from the very beginning. Get engaged in student activities, and study hard!

The Campus Police are very involved with daily life around the campus. You see them around the campus at all times, so everyone generally feels as safe as possible on the campus.

    What to do for fun

Gardner Webb offers many cultural experiences, many activities planned by the Student Life office, a large variety of sports events, and many other things. You are only 45 minutes from Charlotte, 15 minutes from the Tanger Outlets in Gaffney SC, and also very close to Asheville NC as well.

    Academic Rigor

The Professors are great, and prepare you very carefully for academic success.

Go on an individual visit to the school even if you attend the Dawg Days, or not. They pay attention to the small details like assigning you a personal parking spot, sending you on a tour of the campus with student guides, introducing you to some of the staff, and many other ways. It is worth it to see the personal side of Gardner Webb without the crazy, and fun times of Dawg Days.

    In three sentences

Gardner Webb University is a school that actually cares about the success of every student. They welcome you with open arms, and bend over backwards to make your educational experience completely positive from the time that you visit to the the time that you graduate. Campus Safety

The campus is pretty safe, and they have a police station right on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are all kinds of clubs to get involved in, and always a lot of activities going on.

    Bang for the buck

Gardner-Webb is pretty expensive, but everything thing there seems to be top notch.

    What to do for fun

Gardner-Webb has a ton of different clubs you can become involved in, they have a beach volleyball court outside, they have a couple of gyms and a pool. There is almost always people playing frisbee or throwing a football on the quad (grassy areas). There are plenty of fun things to do on campus.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria food at Gardner-Webb is about average, but they have a lot of variety and different options at each meal. They also have a chick-fil-a, sub place, Asian Cuisine, and coffee shop that you can eat at, and ll of those have really good food.

    Dorm Life

Gardner-Webb has some really nice dorms and suites. I live in the dorm that mostly freshman live in, which is definitely on the low end of the dorms, but it is still nice. The rooms in the dorm I live in are pretty small, but nice, the bathroom, laundry and community kitchen are nice. I like living in the freshman dorm because I get to meet all the other new students.

    Academic Rigor

I think as far as academic's go that Gardner-Webb is enough of a challenge that you don't become bored, but it's not too much of a challenge, that you become overwhelmed.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved in one of the many clubs/groups on campus, so that you will get know people sooner and make friends. Don't be afraid to go to your advisor if you want to change your schedule around or if you have questions, they are always friendly and helpful. Find the balance between keeping up with your studies (and job), and still hanging out with your friends. Drive your car as little as possible, because you don't want to lose your parking spot, you may not find another one.

    In three sentences

Gardner-Webb maybe a small campus, but you definitely still get the average college life here. And the fact that it is smaller is kind of nice, because you get to know people pretty quick, yet it's not so small that you know everyone. The smallness is also nice in the classrooms, because most of the time your teachers will know you by name, so you're not just a number, but a person. All of the faculty and staff are super friendly and helpful. All the students I've met have been very friendly, and will invite you to join in things. I think it's the perfect size school to go to.

    Food and Dining

There are several food locations on campus. The food in the caf is barely ever satisfying with its main courses, but there is always enough variety to be creative. The Wonderful World of Wings is very delicious, but can get very pricey. There an on the go snack bar from which you can get food fast in between classes. And when all else becomes unappetizing, Chick-fil-a is your go to spot.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is the best. Some dorm rooms can be a bit small, but that can be easily overlooked by the awesome community within each dormitory. The campus is small so there is not much walking distance from the dorm to class. The bathrooms are kept clean and are big and really nice. As for laundry, there is provided washers and dryers for each dorm at a convenient location within the building.

    Academic Rigor

Classes can be tough depending on the subject. Professors are willing to work with you and can be pretty lenient if you are doing bad in a course. Some professors will take the time to work with you one on one. As for work load, you can be expected to have a fair amount of work as you would expect from any other University.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you can afford coming to a school that is so expensive like Gardner-Webb. Many people enroll for a semester or for a year and have to transfer simply because it costs so much to be a student. Make sure any outside credits you plan on taking transfer into the school. Gardner-Webb can be picky with credits they do and do not except.

    In three sentences

Gardner-Webb is the perfect combination of small town and super friendly. The class sizes are small with professors who are super kind and understanding in working with you. The environment is great for meeting new people of all sorts.

    What to do for fun

Usually for fun, people travel to Gaffney or Charlotte. We also have our new student center that offers a rock climbing wall, pool tables, and a mini movie theater.

    Food and Dining

The Caf has its good days and its bad days, and it seems that the bad days out weigh the good. It depends on your personal preference of food, but since I'm a picky eater, your opinion may differ. For picky eaters like me, they offer you different selections of food. They offer choices from pizzas and burgers, to home cooked southern meals. There is even a vegan/vegetarian section.

    Dorm Life

I love the dorm life. The rooms vary in sizes, but they are very reasonable. The Resident Assistants (R.A.) are very nice, and they do many things to make dorm life even more fun. They may have little get-togethers, like parties for Holidays, or movie nights with your dorm floor. This gives you a chance to meet people who are in the same dorm as you are.

    Academic Rigor

Some of the classes can be quiet easy, but then there are others that can be quite challenging. Sometimes it can be due to the different professors you have.

    Tips for prospective students

College is a lot like freedom. You are no longer under the control of your parents. With this new found freedom, comes responsibility. My tip would be do not let the freedom of not having your parents there to tell you when to do your homework or when to study get to you. Make sure you do your work for each class needed. I've seen many students struggle due to not knowing how to juggle fun and their work. Although college is a fun experience, you are there to further your education, not to constantly party. If you learn to balance your work and fun, then you will succeed.

    In three sentences

Gardner-Webb is a private institution that was founded upon Christian beliefs. It's a quiet university with a friendly atmosphere. Being located in the middle of no where, it can get boring at times, but if you know how to make your own fun, then it's a great place to be.

There are plenty of clubs and activities that are held on campus to participate in. There is a sports game almost every single day that are free for students to watch. once a month there is an some sort of activity in the Tucker Student Center. Sometimes its a comedy show, a magician, blow-up twister or a local band. Down the street from school there is a river that students frequently go to when the weather is warm and they float and play in the river.

    Food and Dining

The food at Gardner-Webb is not the greatest food ever but I haven't met any one who says that their food at college is the best thing that they have ever had. The food served in our caf is the same every day and night which can get boring but the food isn't terrible. We are fortunate to have a Chickfila on campus and a few other restaurants in our student center that have some great food. We also have many inexpensive restaurants in town.

    Dorm Life

The dorms at Gardner-Webb are like any other dorm at any other college. The rooms aren't beautiful and there are common bathrooms. But with the right decorations you can make your room look like home. All of the dorms both the girls and guys are very well taken care of by the Gardner-Webb staff and cleaned daily. I have never met an RA or GRD that was not friendly and welcoming. They are there for their residents at all times. I live in HAPY dorm and the RA's there are great and we have tons of hall and dorm activities throughout the semester. No matter where you live you will not be disappointed with the dorm life.

    Academic Rigor

Your professors and teachers will push you to do your best because they know that you are capable of it. The faculty at Gardner-Webb are on your side and they help and encourage you through your courses. Your professors are also there for moral support and encouragement outside of the classroom. No matter what it is the faculty and staff is there for you. Some classes will be easy but most will be challenging. Your professors want you to succeed by doing the best that you can and they will help you do that.

    Tips for prospective students

Check out the brand new Tucker Student Center that was built in 2012! There are awesome study rooms on the third floor that are sound proof so you have a place to retreat to to study. The great thing about Gardner-Webb is that they have suites and apartments for their students to live in as well as dorms. If your an honor student check out HAPY dorm! The RA's are wonderful and the rooms are great! You will never be disappointed with Gardner-Webb!

    In three sentences

Gardner-Webb University is an excellent school that welcomes all of their students with open arms. My home was far away from Gardner-Webb and never once did I get homesick. The university supplies students with many activities to participate in and many clubs to join.

    What to do for fun

With the Tucker Student center there is plenty to do. Rock wall, movie room, game tables. It is all awesome. Sports with friends are fun with a vast scenery to enjoy and there is even a gym.

    Food and Dining

The cafe has many options as well as many known restaurants residing on campus. Chic-Fil-a, Subway, and even a coffee shop. Options are not limited here.

    Dorm Life

Male dorms are smaller than expected. Other than light, people are easy to get along with and residential life is pretty nice with the student activities.

    Academic Rigor

From what I have been told academics are not taken lightly here. Courses are rigorous but the instructors are willing to help along the way.

    Tips for prospective students

Get your paperwork turned in. Talk with your counselors and other staff to get help. Don't be afraid of rejection.

    In three sentences

This is a hidden gem in the midst of North Carolina. It is staffed with wonderful and helpful people. The experience both educationally and fundamentally is well worth it.

Great for these types of students

Strong Christian Faith Anti-social nursing students

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

No clubs, fraternities, sororities, etc so no tradition unless you plan on being a minister.

    What to do for fun

Fun activities at gardner webb include absolutely nothing. I played football as a walk on and that was pretty much a job.

    Food and Dining

The cafe is your main source of dining which is not good at all. I hope you're a good cook....

    Dorm Life

AWFUL.......i was given the opportunity to live in the apartments. If you cannot afford an apartment or suite DON'T DO IT!

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor of gardner webb is completely based on the professor. Some classes may be extremely challenging while the same course with another teacher may be easy.

    Tips for prospective students

If you attend here you must have strong christian conviction. It is a small school in Boiling-springs, thus be prepared for boring weekends. Don't use all your flex points in the first month, you'll understand eventually.

    In three sentences

Gardner-Webb is not a university with a curriculum to prepare you for the real world. The strong christian beliefs exhibited clearly rid room of common sense. The people are nice, but they live in an unrealistic view of the world.

    Campus Safety

Safety isn't really an issue here, probably because it's such a small town.

    Greek Life

No greek life on this campus.

    Clubs and Activities

Multiple clubs to get involved with, especially when it comes to helping the community.

Great for these types of students

Christian followers, academic driven students, and those looking for a smaller setting within a university.

    Bang for the buck

Gardner-Webb University is a more expensive university because it's private, but if your academics are your main focus then it's worth the tuition.

    What to do for fun

Being in a small town makes the area fairly boring, but our students activities program always has activities going on around campus, in the Tucker Student Center, and off campus. This is a division one university so sporting events always take place during the week and weekend. There is also a Christian based service every Tuesday night in the student center.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria always has a salad bar, fruit bar, sub bar, vegetarian meal option, fast food meal option, and a couple home cooked options. My favorite would be the home cooked options. You can dine in or take your food/drink to go. Other dining places on campus include the meal exchange areas on campus, as well as SubConnection, Chic-fil-a, Broad River Coffee Company, and World of Wings.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life isn't for everyone. Any university's dorm life will take adaptation and adjustment, but our university does offer a great range of housing/residents. Multiple dorm residents, suites, and apartments are available!

    Academic Rigor

Courses at this univeristy are indeed rigorous because professors challenge their students to grow academically. They challenge your ability to learn, understand, and preform concepts being taught, but are there to give help every step of the way.

    Tips for prospective students

Gardner-Webb University does a great job at making sure all students who want to be successful in attaining a degree in their field of study have the proper support and tools to do so.

    In three sentences

The university has so much to offer academically because of the fact that it is a liberal arts university, the range of majors/minors, and the great student to professor ratio. Not only are academics a major offer from the university, but spiritual growth with Christ is too. Gardner-Webb University may be in a small town, but it has so much to offer to all students.
