Categories Comments Great for these types of students It's a great place, period, but you definitely have a head start in some of the core courses if you come from a Christian background.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to write a lot, especially for the core humanities courses. Also, be prepared to drive a little bit if you want to eat someplace besides Alex's, the Brig, or Pizza Joe's. In hindsight, I wish I had brought my car freshman year.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Geneva College is great for any student who wants to attend a small, Christian college and meet great people in the process. It is also great for those who may have come from a very small high school or homeschooling setting who are used to more individual attention from instructors. However, it is not a bad choice for those who are used to large institutions either.
Tips for prospective students Living on campus, especially in the traditional dorm residence halls, gives an experience like nothing else. I recommend living in a residence hall on campus, you would be surprised at the close friendships that you make. Also, as far as academics go, if you find something difficult, go talk to your professor. They are there to help; and most of them are very helpful and truly enjoy helping you out one-on-one.
Bang for the buck Private schools are expensive, but Geneva does give out a lot of financial aid and scholar awards. You will pay a lot to attend Geneva, but if you want to attend a college with people and professors who care about you while getting a good education, then Geneva is the place for you.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere on campus is very friendly and inviting. The college staff members and residence life staff members plan activities that are worth attending. The only downside is that the campus is located in a small town with little that is within walking distance.
Am learning a lot I attended high school at a small private school where we did not have access to things such as computer labs, science labs, and individual academic advisers. At Geneva, I am pursuing an Engineering degree and have been able to learn hands on in the labs. Something else that has aided my in my learning experience is that the professors care about their students and are willing to help students inside the classroom and during non class times as well.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Know exactly what you're looking for. Don't settle for a school that's not what you want.
Bang for the buck Tuition only covers up to 17 credit hours, instead of 18. So, if you take more than the allowed 17, be ready to dish out about $800 per credit. Mealplan costs don't vary as much as the mealplans themselves vary.
Am enjoying being here There are some of the most wonderful people I've met at Geneva! Unfortunately, aside from just haning out, there's not much to do except go to walmart.
Am learning a lot The professors are all so nice and caring. They are very easy to get to know personally, thanks to small class size.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is always doing rounds at night and the people here are non-violent and thoughtful.
Clubs and Activities There are many activities as well as clubs. There are plenty of bible studies that go on and support groups. There's also Ultimate Frisbee and many other fun things!
Great for these types of students Geneva is great for believers in Christ but also for anyone who wants to be academically challenged.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Memorial Hall has a tree of tennis shoes for those who have dormed there for four years. There is a zombie apocalypse here. Chapel is attended every week.
Bang for the buck For the most part, I would say that it's totally worth it! Sometimes it's hard to find something to do, but then again there is always something to do. It does seem quite expensive, and I won't deny that, but it's so much better than a public college. The professors are wonderful and you have great opportunities to make wonderful friends. Geneva really does give you an experience like no other.
What to do for fun You can hang out with your friends, go to Pizza Joe's, play Ultimate Frisbee, check out some movies from the library, watch t.v. in the lounge, sit outside and read, walk to the park, visit other dorms, or jam to some music. Upper Room on Thursdays is also really great! You get to listen to really awesome music, hang out with your friends, and worship.
Food and Dining The food isn't too bad. They have plenty of desserts and a generally good selection of options. You can choose to go to Alex's Dining Hall or the Brigadoon. Alex's generally has a better selection, but the Brig is a nice place to go to hang out or do work. Every once in a while there is a specialty meal night. This could be steak, chicken, and shrimp, or culturally unique foods.
Dorm Life Dorm life is pretty nice. The rooms aren't too bad and the people are very easy to get along with. The R.A.'s are always open to talk and are there for you. Open hours are somewhat odd, but it's not too bad to get used to. It can get a little noisy when people get back on the weekend but there is a good atmosphere.
Academic Rigor It all depends on how your schedule is and the classes you get. If you have all 8 a.m.'s and 18 credits, expect yourself to be tired. Always try to find time to study. Some classes have group study sessions. Take advantage of the time you have that is free.
Tips for prospective students Look for as many scholarships as you can. Prepare yourself for your major and be ready for the amount of work that you may get. It's important to have time to study. You are also required to attend 11 chapels. It's important to try and get something out of these because the messages are important to your life.
In three sentences Geneva College will academically challenge you. It also gives you many opportunities to find yourself and who you are in God. It's not always easy but there are many people here who are on your side.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Hard working, passionate
Bang for the buck It looks like a great college and offers a good amount of financial aid. The engineering program has ensured 100% of its students a job within six months of graduation.
Will enjoy being here The college offers things to do on the weekends almost every week.

Categories Comments Campus Safety there are emergency buttons all over campus - and ladies, if you ever don't want to walk by yourself, they'll even escort you back to your room. campus security is on call 24/7, just press a button or dial the emergency number. it's good to have, but i have never needed to use it.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus some students hike to the g (the high-ropes course on the hill behind geneva), others enjoy studying over a cup of coffee at beaver falls coffee & tea co. (owned by a geneva prof across the street!), and some like to get involved with the community by tutoring in the local after-school program tiger pause. there are plenty of fun campus events that allow for dressing up, too (like the president's ball, film fest, etc.), if you enjoy getting all snazzy.
What to do for fun student activities does a good job of planning activities for those of us who don't go home on weekends. there's always intramural sports and varsity games to go to, but hey, sometimes chilling out on the couch with a movie and ordering pizza joe's (3 words - veggie supreme pizza) is all you wanna do. not to mention that pittsburgh is only a half hour away, and there is always something going on in the city!
Food and Dining alex's is the traditional dining hall and it's not bad. it's really all in what you make of it - you can choose to eat healthy or not. if alex's closes while you're in class, you can go to the brig (the brigadoon) to eat - it's a relaxed, cafe-type environment. even if you're not there to eat, it's a good place to hang out or study (we also have 2 coffee shops within walking distance!).
Dorm Life the sense of community in freshman residence halls is fantastic - the doors on the hall are almost always open! upperclassmen usually live in the apartments across the street, but i would recommend starting out in a freshman dorm so that you can build a good foundation of friends for your 4 years here. most of my good friends now are the ones who i met on my hall during freshman year.
Academic Rigor i thought that, if i went to a school that valued faith in practice, academic rigor would be lacking. i've found that to be false at geneva - faith integration in the classroom & rigorous academics are equally important. i have spoken to alumni in my field (communication disorders) who have said that geneva's professors and coursework helped them to be more than prepared for grad school and the workforce.
Tips for prospective students it doesn't hurt to get involved with as many leadership opportunities before college to prepare you. take your sat/acts seriously and score as highly as you can - they determine how much money you'll earn for academic scholarships for all 4 years you'll spend at geneva. take them more than once if you must, admissions takes your highest scores into consideration.
In three sentences if you are looking for a christian college with rigorous academics, you can find it here at geneva. geneva is small enough to see familiar faces, but still large enough to make new friends. no matter what type of person you are - social, athletic, inquisitive - you will find a crowd here!

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities Geneva's marching band is very impressive and they even use fireworks in their shows.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Geneva is the home of the Golden Tornados. Their mascot's name is Turbo.
Bang for the buck I was afraid of not being able to afford a private Christian college, but I recieved an amazing scholarship and now I am able to attend in the fall cheaper than a state school!
What to do for fun There are a lot of nice little shops in Beaver Falls that you may not find elsewhere. Also, just minutes away is Buttermilk Falls, a beautiful park with an amazing waterfall that should definately be checked out!
Food and Dining When I attended an open house at Geneva, there were many delicious food items for us to choose from.
Academic Rigor I have heard many positive views about Geneva's engineering department.
Tips for prospective students The campus has a beatiful view of the river. The hillside opposite of Geneva across the river has a giant G on it that students can even hike to.
In three sentences I am very excited to begin my jouney at Geneva in the fall. I am able to live at home, and yet get a Christian college experience.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The security is great. Students feel very safe waking around campus at all hours. Security is only one phone call away 24/7
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus humans vs. zombies is a look forwarded every year and students have a great time participating.
What to do for fun there is ton to do around campus and off campus.
Food and Dining it is not quite as good as home but the food is edible and you don't have to do the dishes!
Dorm Life dorm life is great.
Academic Rigor the academics are harder than most other colleges but the teacher are willing to help anyone.
Tips for prospective students bring an open mind, a laptop, and the enthusiasm to make great friends that will last you the rest of your life.
In three sentences geneva is a great christian college. here the class sizes are not too big and every teacher is eager to help any student who would like help. the campus is small and is a great place to be.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Be ready to deeply enrich your faith in God and see that faith integrated in all of your studies.

Categories Comments Campus Safety If anything happens, campus security is on the case immediately. They waste no time ensuring that all of the students, faculty and staff are safe, and they are very thorough about their work. Students even have the option of calling for a security escort if they have any reason to believe they are not safe walking across campus.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs to get involved in, I don't even know what all of them are! The opportunities are endless. Also, there is always some kind of activity organized to participate in on (sometimes off) campus without being involved in any clubs. There is always something to do.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus In April, many students on Geneva's campus participate in the event Humans vs. Zombies. For a straight week they run around campus, humans with Nerf guns trying to avoid being tagged by and turned into a zombie, and zombies trying to avoid being shot by a human. Even if you are not playing, it is quite an entertaining sight to see.
Bang for the buck In going to Geneva, you're getting a top of the line education that is well worth the cost. The professors are extremely knowledgeable in the subjects they teach, leaving students with a firm understanding of what they are taught. They are also very supportive and willing to help students reach their ultimate academic goals.
What to do for fun There is a small waterfall down the road called Buttermilk Falls that is always fun to explore on a nice day. There is also a big G on the hillside behind the school that you can hike to. Below the Brigadoon is a room called The Underground where there is a ping pong table, a pool table, board games, a big screen TV, and couches to sit on if you just want to hang out with friends.
Food and Dining The food in Alexander Dining Hall is all-you-can-eat style, so you can never say you will go hungry in college. The Brigadoon has great food as well, with the option of taking it out to your room or somewhere else on campus to eat.
Dorm Life The community in the dorms is one of the best parts. The Resident Assistants and Discipleship Coordinators really try to reach out to each student and engage them in fun activities they prepare for the students in their halls. You will find you make some of your best friends in school in your own dorm.
Academic Rigor Depending on what you study, some courses can be rather challenging while others can be a breeze. You will find yourself working hard for every class, but the knowledge it brings is a very noticeable outcome. Many of the professors make the classes very fun and interesting, so the work is well worth it.
Tips for prospective students Do an over-night stay with a current student on a weekday. Visit classes, talk with professors, and participate in campus activities outside of class to really get a feel for what life here is like.
In three sentences Geneva College is the perfect school for students looking for an education completely centered around Christian values and application. The environment is very welcoming, comfortable and laid back. The faculty and staff genuinely care about the students here, not only in their education, but in their personal lives as well.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The safety on campus is really controlled.
Greek Life There was none on campus as far as I could tell.
Clubs and Activities I wasn't involved too much with the clubs but they look pretty interesting.
Great for these types of students Its great for students who are looking to grow closer to God and also for those who love being social.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Apparently if someone stays in the same dorm for all four years then they throw a pair of shoes up in a tree near that dorm. Also, not necessarily on campus but the coffee shop across the street from campus and the local Sheetz are places that students regularly go to.
Bang for the buck Geneva College is definitely worth the money. The engineering program has had a 100% job placement after graduation and I hear that the business department is amazing!
What to do for fun Geneva plans events throughout the months on campus in order to get students involved and interested.
Food and Dining The food can be really good on campus. I've enjoyed numerous meals but there are times when it could be better.
Dorm Life The dorm life was amazing! I grew close to many people on campus and felt like I was part of a family!
Academic Rigor I rate this as a 4 star because I had been in civil engineering as a major for my first year. The classes for the engineering majors are really demanding.
Tips for prospective students Just make sure you study hard. Studying is an important part in earning good grades and keeping scholarships.
In three sentences Geneva College is a great place to be. I enjoyed my first year there and realized that there is no other college I would have rather gone to. I grew close to so many people and enjoyed all that Geneva offers.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are always different events going on on campus. There is a zipline located behind one of the dorms, a room with exercise equipment to work out in, a track, and a music building where there are pianos to practice. There are concerts and places to shop all around the city also and the campus is about 45 minutes away from Pittsburgh.
Food and Dining There are two places on campus to eat. The main dining hall, Alexander's Hall, has many different options; From a rotisserie section, to made to order pizza's and a salad bar, homemade desserts and ice cream, there's always something to find. The other option for campus dining is a small restaurant like cafe on the other end of campus called the Brigadoon which has The Riverview Cafe right next door if you're in the mood for coffee.
Dorm Life If you are looking to live on campus, dorm life is very rewarding. There are separate dorms for boys and girls, and there are also separate apartments and rules which help to provide an easy going Christian environment. The students you meet in the dorms along with the resident assistants and resident directors are always there to help with whatever is needed and great friends can be made here.
Academic Rigor Geneva College is a liberal arts college, which means that no matter what your major is, there are certain classes dealing with a variety of subjects that you are required to take. This allows for graduates of Geneva to be well rounded in most areas. There are challenging classes to every major, but the end result is rewarding.
Tips for prospective students My tip for those looking into receiving their education from Geneva would be to find what it is they want from a school. If a closely knit school that feel's like family is what they're looking for then they'll definitely find it here. Whether living on campus or commuting, it is easy to be involved and to find a sense of belonging.
In three sentences I would give Geneva College an 11 out of 10! The faculty is caring, the students are active, and it is a great place to receive a fabulous education. The best part about Geneva is that you can see how everyone on campus has a love for learning and for God.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Cardkeys needed to enter any dorm with seperate lock combination on every seperate room door. Emergency help pillars located through out campus incase of emergency.
Food and Dining Large variety of food choices. Enough food to keep you full. Actually tastes pretty good!
Dorm Life The dorms have a great community life with events specifically set up to create a family type atmosphere. Very friendly and caring RDs and DCs.
Academic Rigor Classes are small which provides great oppurtunities for the professors to really get to know and assist students. As long as you keep up with the work, classes are challenging enough to keep interest without causing too much stress.
Tips for prospective students Do not let the rules scare you away. There may seem to be a lot, but it really is not that bad or strict.
In three sentences Geneva College is one big family. They focus on connecting everyone not only with others on campus, but the community as well. They strongly believe in incorporating faith into learning.

Categories Comments Campus Safety 2011 2012 school year had some strange counts of vandalism, but the security is usually on top of things although a bit aged.
Greek Life none.
Clubs and Activities There are some cool clubs... and some weird clubs... but quite a few to choose from if you have the time.
Great for these types of students Christian, wanting a decent education, or Christians, who feel they are rebellious, but compared to normal humans arent.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus No dancing on campus. Longboarding has just recently been made allowed.
Bang for the buck The money doesnt seem to be going all back to the students. The campus buildings could definitely use a facelift.
What to do for fun You make do with what you have. Pittsburgh is only a day trip away, there are flea markets close by, and a mall. A few movie theatres, but game nights with friends top all.
Food and Dining Only 2 dining choices on campus. They make do, but they will have you wishing you could eat at home. Good cereal choice in Alex's, and the roast beef subs in the Brig are pretty good.
Dorm Life The people can make or break your experience as it would be anywhere. The dorms are old, and need renovations. Cramped and not well thought through. Plus side is that although it is a Christian school there are still visiting hours, and you can come and go as you please with your student ID.
Academic Rigor It's a lot of talk, but when it comes down to it, the classes are not all that hard, depending on your major of course.
Tips for prospective students Be careful to choose your roommate, and if at all possible live in honors housing. Befriend your RA, or an RA, as they can be extremely helpful. Focus on your studies and don't get caught up in hanging out constantly. The best times, are the late night study sessions with your hallmates.
In three sentences Depending on the people you meet, could be an extremely edifying Christian experience. A lot of opportunities for fun activities. Overpriced and run more like a greedy business than a Christian business.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety was a huge deal for me since I am a girl. I always see security vehicles roaming around campus and stopping to talk with students. If something goes wrong on campus or there is too much snow, an alert is set out to that every student of faculty member gets an email or a text message.
Clubs and Activities Geneva has intermural sports, rock climbing clubs and outdoor clubs while also enhancing the more academically gifted side of things. Geneva offers biology clubs and community service opportunities for students, along with short missions trips and on campus jobs.
Great for these types of students Geneva is accredited for many majors like business, biology, engineering and music plus so many others. Geneva offers diversity for any one really. Eventually anyone can find the group of people that they feel the most comfortable with, but while on Geneva's campus student mix it up and change groups as well.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus A funny tradition on Geneva's campus is that if you are a Junior or Senior and you have been dating someone for a while the girl should have a nice ring on her left hand finger by spring. This tradition is called Ring by Spring. Geneva also does a game in the spring called Zombies and Humans, where people run around all of finals week attacking each other with nerf guns.
Bang for the buck While Geneva has a lot to offer, they could improve with updating their systems and buildings. They could also cut back on certain things in order to expand the campus in necessary means. Geneva could do a better job with finding ways to cut back tuition but still give a quality education to students who accept the challenge.
What to do for fun Geneva offers on campus activities like film fest in october, the black and white in the winter and then a campus wide talent show at the end of the year. Geneva also puts together road trips and athletic rallies. another locational perk for Geneva is that it is only 30 minutes from Pittsburg.
Food and Dining The food at Geneva has a lot to offer. My group of friends especially liked the dessert bar and ice cream area.Although this is the case, Alexander Dining Hall could improve with more ways to prepare food and present a wider variety for the regulars.
Dorm Life Dorm life at Geneva is awesome. If you leave your door open you will get nothing done and chances are that there will be others from your floor in your room. There is a strong sense of community throughout the entire campus, but especially in each hall.
Academic Rigor Geneva professors do a great job to make relationships outside of the classroom with their students. But they can only do so much if the student doesn't take hold of the opportunity. Geneva pushes their students at different levels depending on the difference of the individual.
Tips for prospective students Get out and experience what college life has to offer you. Apply yourself academically, don't just wait until the second semester. Start as soon as you get onto campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I attend at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary site in Homewood. It is very safe.
Greek Life I am not involved with Greek life.
Clubs and Activities I am not involved in any clubs or activities.
Great for these types of students Christians, and non-Christians alike, if you are looking to form a relationship with our Lord and Savior.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus None that I know of.
Bang for the buck The tuition may be on the higher end, but the education is well worth it.
What to do for fun Watch the Steelers!
Food and Dining I don't eat at Geneva College. I attend off-campus at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Dorm Life I don't live in the dorm.
Academic Rigor Though the road may get rough, stay with it.
Tips for prospective students Remember that with Christ you can do all things.
In three sentences Geneva is a Christian College and I'm so happy that I attend a Christian College. The pace is challenging, but the rewards are endless. Geneva has extended my relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Categories Comments Campus Safety It may be in Beaver Falls, but campus is safe. Be wary of weirdos, though. There have been incidents, about one per year.
Greek Life None to speak of.
Clubs and Activities AWESOME!!! History club is the best. No joke, it's one of the most popular clubs on campus. The Chem club exploded pumpkins for Halloween, though.
Great for these types of students People who are interested in a holistic education- one that rounds you spiritually and communally as well as educationally.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The guys in Memorial Hall throw a pair of their shoes into one of the trees if they live in Memorial all four years. Also, there's this group of people who play dagohir (a kind of medieval fighting with foam weapons) when the weather is nice out on Memorial lawn.
Bang for the buck SO expensive, but I think it's totally worth it.
What to do for fun If you can make friends with someone with a car. You have a lot more to do. If you stay on campus, your limits are your imagination. Get involved in a club. The college hosts free events, and every Friday night a church in walking distance hosts swing dancing- all evening for $1
Food and Dining Alex's is not the best. The Brig is sightly better. Desert is always, always amazing, though.
Dorm Life The freshman dorms are so warm. :-) It's a great community. The people you live with day in and day out are good people, and they care for you.
Academic Rigor The professors are interested in seeing you succeed. They care about what they do, and they care about the students. Get to know your adviser, they're the ones who help you with everything during your time at Geneva.
Tips for prospective students Don't eat the fish in Alexander Dining hall, it tastes like cardboard. Get involved in on campus events if at all possible, and stay on campus one night while going through the admissions process.
In three sentences A Christ-centered, academic driven community. Everything ties back to the Reformed Presbyterian tradition and the beliefs held, which makes some people very unhappy. The academics are fabulous, though, and the community is very loving.

Categories Comments Campus Safety If someone wanted to do harm to you, that one campus guard that drives around will not be an obstacle for the person intending you harm. One star because the door to your building only opens with a school ID (which is not hard to obtain) and your dorm room has a key pad on it.
Greek Life Greek life? Must not have one at this campus because it is unheard of.
Clubs and Activities Many clubs and activities. If you want a party club do not come here.
Great for these types of students Christians, afraid of opposite sex, treated like a child.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus School holds a film festival once a year. Make a short video and send it in to see if it is good enough to been seen by the whole campus.
Bang for the buck Campus provides a hang out place where you can buy food and drinks. Its expensive.
What to do for fun Almost nothing. You must go off campus for fun.
Food and Dining Average, but some days it is below.
Dorm Life Dorm life is kind of boring because of the rules.
Academic Rigor If you want the A you must work for it.
Tips for prospective students Prepare for strict rules.

Academic Rigor It is a challenging curriculum, but you learn a lot and are better for it.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to not be able to partake in partying. There is not much to do around campus, so know that.
In three sentences It is a great small college for people looking for a Reformed Presbyterian education. It is secluded and has an excellent atmosphere for learning. Unfortunately, Geneva is also known for being strict and the furthest thing from a party school.
