Duh- go into DC. Old Town Fairfax is pretty. There are trails to run and mountains / beaches within a pretty easy drive (and most people have cars).

I like the idea to ride my bike for fun on campus while attending spring or summer classes. I not only get to class faster but I like to get my exercise. On the other hand I am a freshmen right now at GMU so I haven't really found any one thing I like to do. Sometimes I do attend events that GMU offer on the weekends with friends or family such as baseball games or concerts etc. Those are always enjoyable.

One of the perks of being at Mason is its location. It is not right in a big city so the traffic and hustle is not a problem, but it is close enough to Washington DC and Arlington, which makes it a great spot. On campus many things go on for student to do such as dances, sporting events, and concerts at the Patriot Center right on campus. Patriot Center is a good venue and many big names have come through.

For fun, you can hop on the metro and spend the day wandering around DC. the Vienna Metro station is fifteen minutes from campus and the school has a free bus service for students to and from the metro. The fairfax city bus system also stops at George Mason and is completely free to students. It takes you to the mall, movie theater/outlet mall, and all around fairfax. there is no way you can get bored with the amount of things that you can do.

Unless you are part of greek life, there isn't much to do, however there are several interest clubs and organizations that you can join, free student gyms on campus and the proximity to DC means that there are good clubs and parties every weekend.
