Great for these types of students

Any students that are willing to learn and start a great, new and fresh college experience! I fell in love with the school when I visited, and I've already made friends there, so fellow students don't worry about your social life going down the drain! :-)

    Tips for prospective students

Fill out the application and before you go to any Open House or Orientation, make a visit to the college and pick one faculty to get along with. You will be surprised at the advantages you will have when the faculty knows you by name!

    Will enjoy being here

The campus is fresh, and has the latest in technology. The faculty is VERY cooperative and are genuinely interested in the students.

    Will learn a lot

About 97% of the faculty have PhD's in their field. What other college has that? Plus Student Interaction is one of the fields in which faculty is graded at the end of each year, making student-to-teacher relationships more lasting and helpful for schoolwork.

You should definitely go to the library! When you walk in you'll stand there for a good 3-5 seconds in amazement! I love the booths and the study rooms!

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that you fill out your FAFSA early and keep up with the office! If they don't answer your calls, go in the office to meet with someone! Some people did not receive financial aid until late in the semester because they filled it out late or no one answered the phones. Also research your professors before you pick them. I go to Rate my professors before I enroll in a class or I Google their name. Hope this helps!!!

    Bang for the buck

I would definitely say that this is a great bang for the buck. You can't put a price on the amount of dedication teachers have and the amount of fun that you will have. This is a great community college!

    Am enjoying being here

I love the college. There are so many places to study and relax. They have just built a new library, which contains tons of Apple Computers that are always available to everyone. They have plenty of study rooms that you can use upon request or reservation. They also have DVD's that students can rent to watch in a study room or in their newly built dorms. To keep students interested, the campus hosts events like the Masquerade Ball, Karaoke, and many other fun activities. There are so many places to chill inside and out. The campus is a beautiful place!

    Am learning a lot

Many presume that Georgia Gwinnett College is an easy A school where one can just fly by and still maintain a 4.0. I'm sorry to sat this, but its not. Georgia Gwinnett College is a challenging school and, though it may not seem so as you attend, it prepares you for if you ever want to transfer or for when you get out in the real world. The teachers are always available for questions and concerns, which I love and they always try their best to break it down. With the exception of a few professors, they make sure that you fully understand all the material, which I have greatly appreciated. All you have to do is ask the question! College, in general, has opened me up to a whole new viewpoint and broadened my scope, but if you like small, intimate class rooms of 5 to 30 people, Georgia Gwinnett College is your perfect choice!

Great for these types of students

This school is great for any types of undergraduates students.

    Bang for the buck

Compared to many schools in Georgia, Georgia Gwinnett College definitely is not costly.

    Am enjoying being here

Georgia Gwinnett College truly is The Campus of Tomorrow. Everything here is new! The computers are all working great with fast internet. The campus is beautiful and looks very neat at all times even with the construction of other buildings. The student body as a whole is very friendly. There are many clubs to be active in for everyone that want to get involved.

    Am learning a lot

Most of the faculty (if not all) have their PhDs and a lot of experience. You definitely learn a lot. Even if you do not understand some of the material, the professors are always willing to help. The school even supplied the professors with cell-phones just so that the students can contact them easily. One of my professors actually encouraged text messaging questions to their cell phones. The classes at GGC are all challenging and professors definitely won't hand out grades. This shouldn't discourage anyone, though. GGC has a special tutoring center that always has professor there to help with any subject. They will also review essays and help revise them.

    Tips for prospective students

    It isn't worth the hassle.

    Bang for the buck

They have high hopes in the programs they offer, but as I said before they are expanding and forget about most of their students.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoyed being there when I was finally able to go to class.

    Am learning a lot

The one thing I am learning, is how many obstacles GGC makes you jump through to even register. It is a very, very difficult and long process, and the admissions staff is extremely unorganized and don't care about the students. They lost my high school transcripts and my immunizations records, which resulted in me being out of school for a whole semester at GGC. I would not wish this upon anyone.

Great for these types of students

Anyone! Georgia Gwinnett College is great.

    Tips for prospective students

Meet with an admissions counselor. They are friendly, and willing to help you get through the admissions process with ease.

    Bang for the buck

This college is so cheap! I am getting an amazing education for just a few thousand dollars a semester. Where else can you get that?

    Am enjoying being here

I have made so many new friends, and on-campus activities add fun to college life.

    Am learning a lot

All of the professors are amazing and so intelligent! They have an open-door policy, so I can drop by and chat with any of the professors at any time. They are willing to help me when I have questions, and my success is their top priority.

    Tips for prospective students

It is a fairly new school so in order to have fun you have to get involved, they are still working out any problems they have. They just got dorms so they are very strict with the rules in the dorms. The teachers and people are very friendly and the teachers always want to help.

Great for these types of students

Commuters. Students who want to live close to home and attend college or want to commute to school may want to consider GGC as an option. It is also good for those who are financially needy. For those who do not want to be in a lot of debt after college or those who do not have a lot of money for school, this school is very inexpensive and financial aid usually covers a lot of the cost.

    Tips for prospective students

Always double check to make sure all of your documents and financial aid is filled out before the deadline. Once you withdraw from a class, you have withdrawn and you cannot take it back. I made this mistake and I ended up sitting through a whole course and made an A, only to find out that I had withdrawn early on. Always keep in touch with your professors even if they are gone for some time.

    Bang for the buck

Once again, I think there are a lot better schools out there. This is a great college as far as location because I am a commuter. However, being at this school does not give me the fun college experience that my friends and family at other schools are enjoying.

    Am enjoying being here

I do not really like to go to school here. It is a new school, so there isn't really a whole lot to do except for listen to lectures for the most part. Even when there are some interesting events, most people don't take them seriously because it is such a new college. Most people on campus think it is boring. I get emails for some cool things going on, but they cost money. Also, the admissions office doesn't have it together. I've had the problem a lot where one person in the office will tell me one thing, and someone else will tell me another thing. I have been seriously frustrated with the admissions office.

    Am learning a lot

The academics here are great! The classes are challenging but not impossible. They definitely require some serious effort.

If you are dedicated to your education but you also want to have fun and make friends then Georgia Gwinnett college is the school for you!!!!

    Tips for prospective students

Georgia Gwinnett College is a great place to get an education. If you are thinking about being a student at GGC then you should definitely talk to people who already go there and find out what they think of it and their opinions on professors. Go to an open house date to meet faculty and staff. If you are planning on living on campus you shouldn't pick the 12 bedroom because it is cheapest, you should consider the fact that you will want some peace and quiet to study. Most of all just do your research and be sure you are making the right choice, Georgia Gwinnett College is wonderful but college may not be for everyone.

    Bang for the buck

Georgia Gwinnett College is rather inexpensive compared to most other educational institutions. The tuition is reasonable, the food is worth paying for, and along with your fees come some great activities and opportunities.

    Am enjoying being here

Whether you live on campus or commute you will love the atmosphere of Georgia Gwinnett College. They offer many fun and exciting opportunities to students such as; field trips, movie nights, festivals, etc. At GGC you will always find something that suits you and you will make a lot of friends doing so. GGC provides a very enjoyable college experience.

    Am learning a lot

At Georgia Gwinnett College you will learn in class and out of class. The professors are wonderful and are all dedicated to their students. The Academic Achievement Center is open 7 days a week to help students with school work. At GGC you will get the education you are looking for.

Great for students who love smaller classrooms. Its on the cheaper side of schools.

    Tips for prospective students

Just embrace the campus and get involved in as much as you can!!

    Bang for the buck

Yeah, prices are going up, but it is the same for all the schools. So get hope, fill out your fafsa, and do scholarships! But everything you pay for is deff. worth it!!

I love it here! This will be my fourth year here! It just keeps improving and more buildings are being built. They care about the students. Everything about the school is for us! They encourage the students involvment in the school and how it can grow even more. What other school asks students what they can do next and then really listen and make the plans to do it!?

    Am learning a lot

Have the highest technology. The whole library has all mac desktops. They have the best staff you can ask for and the staff opens there schedule so you can always meet them for help or text or call them.

    Campus Safety

Absolutely stunning! They are amazing at what they do and will make sure you are 110% safe!

    Greek Life

It's not a MAJOR college yet, such as a Division I college, however, when GGC achieves it's goal of becoming one, I believe there will be an immense growth of the Greek life!

    Clubs and Activities

Haven't joined a club yet, but will soon when I'm not busy with work and all. Although I did have one experience with a club, and it was fun.

Great for these types of students

Great for ANY type of student! Different ethnicities, groups, and diverse people.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The GGC Arch is a place for incoming Freshman to pass under to be apart of the school. The student center is a treat and is a must check out!

    Bang for the buck

In my opinion, definitely worth the bang for the buck! And the BANG is actually LESS for the buck, but you would have to check it out to see.

    What to do for fun

Join clubs, make new friends, and hang around the beautiful, smoke free campus!

    Food and Dining

Offers a good deal of places to chow down on for breakfast, lunch, or dinner depending on the time of you classes. The food is IDEAL!

    Dorm Life

Don't live in a dorm, so I can't really tell you from my experience, but from friends experience, it's EXCELLENT!

    Academic Rigor

Accounting/Finance.. Have not hit the core classes towards my major, but the interim classes are not too shabby. Definitely do-able.

    Tips for prospective students

Work hard, don't give up, DO YOUR WORK and YOU WILL SUCCEED!

    In three sentences

GGC is a very diverse college. GGC is out of the ordinary. GGC is absolutely SUPERB!

    Campus Safety

At Georgia Gwinnett College, we are highly committed to student safety which is why we have 24 hour campus security, Security that can escort anyone to their vehicles, and RAVE alert which sends everyone on campus a text message, a phone call, and an email whenever a threat is present. This is done because we value our students and are tight on secure measures because we always strive to be safe rather than sorry.

    Greek Life

There is currently no Greek Life yet, as there is a need for an entire department focused to this as we are growing, but no worries! It will come!

    Clubs and Activities

We have over 100 Registered Student Organizations (RSO). you can start your RSO with 5 signatures of those interested in the same idea and voila! You have your own organization and with time, you can receive funds to sponsor your events for the school! How awesome is that!

Great for these types of students

GGC is great for any student that is looking to further their educational experience at an affordable price, because hey, the more affordable college is now, the likelihood you would like to continue your education I feel.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have this structure that is called the Arch of Knowledge but looks more like the elbow of Knowledge as I sometimes jokingly tell the perspective students I give tours to. What I love about this tradition, that was inspired by President Kaufman and as to why we have a ceremony concerning this structure every year for the new freshman. This tradition symbolizes that when you come to Georgia Gwinnett College, you enter as a learner. When you graduate, you sigh the Covenant and walk out under the Arch symbolizing your release as a leader. This tradition touches me every year during this ceremony because here at Georgia Gwinnett College, we want to inspire life-long learners, always,

    Bang for the buck

The school is a college and not a university because our president, President Kaufman, believes in being here for the students, in order to ensure our student success. So instead of money going towards research funding, he believes that it should go toward student success programs that ensure that every student accepted has the same tools as everyone else to achieve. He also believes that student focus is greater than a rese3arch focus. That is one of the many reasons why I love it here.

    What to do for fun

I attend campus- wide events, such as Miami nights, movie presentations, participate in student organizations or go with the Outdoor and Recreation staff on a Snowboarding/Ski trip which was awesome!!

    Food and Dining

Our chef's make delicious foods that cater to any diet. food ranges from savory brisket to cheesy risotto and more!

    Dorm Life

Our Suite-styled residence hall include furniture, awesome singular person rooms that come with lock and key and guess what? Flat screens come standard here at GGC!

    Academic Rigor

Your mentors, your advisor, and your professors all work collectively to ensure your academic success.

    Tips for prospective students

Teacher to student Ratio: 1:25 and sometimes as low as fifteen students in certain courses. Georgia Gwinnett College focuses heavily on student success and student involvement meaning your Professors care! Flexible class sizes, awesome professors, a great college experience.

    In three sentences

Georgia Gwinnett College, home of the Grizzlies, has been an amazing experience. I originally wanted to go to the big state institutions and universities, but coming here was my blessing in disguise, because with its small beginning came great opportunities. That is why everyday I am thankful my friend told me to put in my application in the middle of yearbook class in my senior year of high school

    What to do for fun

College activities, social functions, talent shows, sports functions, and field trips are always a lot fun. It gives you a break from studying and lets you take time to enjoy college and socialize. Sometimes just hanging out in the dorms or on the fields with your friends are all the fun you need.

    Food and Dining

Freshman fifteen is definitely something to watch out for in college. The food is awesome. In the dining hall there is a salad bar, sandwich bar, pizza bar, asian grill, burger grill, and the desert shop. The other food places on campus which you use your munch money for are Quiznos sub, Wow Wings, Market Place, and Starbucks. Although nothing is 24 hours, the school is in the perfect location with Wal-Mart down the street and other restaurants nearby.

    Dorm Life

Like every other college dorm, there all rules. Georgia Gwinnett College dorms only have simple rules, nothing out of the ordinary. Dorm life creates an easy way to make friends and socialize more. The dorms model apartments by providing you with a kitchen, a mutual living room, bathrooms for every two roommates, and single bedrooms for each student. Its a great setting that meets the needs of all the residence.

    Academic Rigor

So far I have not experienced difficulties. The only thing I can say is stay focused so you don't fall behind.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Apply at least five months in advance to claim your spot when accepted. 2. Apply for financial aid as soon as you are accepted. 3. Get as much free money as you can so you wont be in debt when you get out of school.

    Campus Safety

I have never felt in any danger on GGC's campus! The police are always browsing around the parking lots and around campus. One time, I needed a jump for my car battery. I called the Campus Safey office and within 5 minutes, a police officer was out to help me. He jumped my car and stayed to make sure that my car would start and not have any problems going down the road.

    Greek Life

There is no Greek life on campus YET! Elections for student body president just took place and one of the ideas is to get a Greek life system going. I feel like Greek life would be very good to have on campus because it could bring

    Clubs and Activities

There are more sports than clubs, which, as you may know, sports are not exactly everyone's cup of tea. However, the clubs that are at GGC are extremely well put together and extremely well functioning.

Great for these types of students

GGC is great for students who did not want to go to an extremely large college, like the University of Georgia, for the students who wanted, or in my case needed, a more personal relationship with their teachers in order to grasp the material. It is also great for students who are trying to become more independent because GGC places a great deal of responsibility on the student.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The tradition March through the Arch comes to mind. All of the new students are required to march through GGC's on-campus Arch. It is a chance to meet the faculty and get an idea of who you will be taking classes for.

    Bang for the buck

GGC is very affordable compared to other schools. The cost per credit hour is $109.87 and there are payment plans to help students out with tuition. However, the faculty is not cheap quality. All of the faculty members are extremely kind and are also very willing to help students.

    What to do for fun

There are tons of fun things to do at GGC. There are numerous sports teams and clubs. The only sports team that we do not have is a football team, however, we are in the process of getting one of those. We have a numerous range of clubs including Student Government Association. There is also a game room on campus in the dorms.

    Food and Dining

I have a food allergy, so the food options are not always soy-free, which leaves me at a stopping place. That is the only thing about the food eateries and dining halls that I wish they would look at: helping people with food allergies also have as wide a variety as people without food allergies.

    Dorm Life

I do not live in the dorms. I commute back and forth from Monroe, GA. Although, from what I have seen, the dorms are very spacious and very nicely put-together!

    Academic Rigor

I always feel challenged. Yet, even though I feel challenged, I also feel like I can succeed with the amount of help that the faculty provides. There are some very awesome teachers that go above and beyond to make sure that you do well. The one thing that I have had problems with was the technology of the school. Seeing as it is a new school and just starting to develop, the technology has been lagging, but it does not hinder any other area whatsoever!

    Tips for prospective students

Please be patient with the Financial Aid/Student Accounts office. This, fortunately, is a growing school with growing credibility. However, with the growing students, there are not growing faculty positions. Also, get to know your teachers and mentor on a personal level. I promise, it will help when it comes to recommendations and extra help.

    In three sentences

Georgia Gwinnett College is a college I feel like I can thrive. The faculty is exceptionally welcoming and helpful. I would recommend this college to anyone that is not ready for the leap into a school with almost 50,000 students, yet, it does not feel small and you get the special help that you need.

    Campus Safety

GGC is a very security focused school, going so far as to have a tornado warning system in place that can be heard campus wide. There are police around campus almost all the time, and you have security posts in most every building. Security guards do random patrols and keep an eye out for potential issues, and they also have a 'rave' cellular/email alert system to warn students about campus related incidents.

    Greek Life

The Greek life is not really present for those of us commuting and taking classes. It is active within the dorms, and is rather friendly from the impression I've gotten around campus. I would definitely get involved if I lived on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

There are some clubs and groups around campus, but I haven't noticed a lot of activity on that level. The opportunity to join up with particular clubs is present and available if that is something you desire in a college campus. The school is smaller than other four year schools, so making friends is extremely possible if you like to hangout with people from your own concentration or just people who share the same interests.

Great for these types of students

If you're a Business major, as I am, you will love the environment at GGC; but it offers several degree programs including Biology, Mathematics, Psychology, English, and many more! This campus will work for those taking night classes or those aiming to knock classes out early in the morning. If you like options, you will have several teachers to choose from (the roster is definitely growing) and small class sizes to help you focus.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

This is a pretty typical college environment. No waterfalls or gushing rivers, but plenty of open space and innovative architecture. I've enjoyed the study rooms in the library and the school offers many outings and activities through various organizations on campus.

    Bang for the buck

Relatively low tuition for a four year school, especially if you can get scholarships or loans. I won't lie, my tuition has gone up from GPC to GGC and I will need more help in order to continue to cover it. Be prepared to pay for your education, and get to know the people at financial aid because they are the ones that will tell you what steps there are to take and how to take them.

    What to do for fun

Huge fields are available for those into outdoor sports and recreation, as well as a campus gym that is pretty well stocked with workout equipment and available exercise classes. There are theaters and plenty of local as well as department stores near the campus, so don't feel claustrophobic! There's food, fun, and plenty of hangout spots all around campus; even the library is cool to chill out and study in!

    Food and Dining

Again, I go the cheaper route and don't pay for food on campus, but you will have to have a food plan if you are a freshman or sophomore. I don't like that, but it is something they require so be ready. There are a few places on campus to eat, and a plethora of other options right around campus too, so take advantage of the local restaurants if you hate school food.

    Dorm Life

I live off campus and commute to school, so I don't know what living in the dorms is like. I have seen them, and would say that they are well furnished and spacious. If you want to stay in the dorms, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

    Academic Rigor

This is still a college, so don't come here and think I told you it was easy. I attended Georgia Perimeter College before this school, and let me tell you that GPC, a two year institution, looked almost laughable after the first month of classes had ended. This school knows its stuff and the teachers will demand you understand it as well, but there are fewer tests to worry about and excellent tutors as well as classmates to work with!

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to get in because registration is no joke and orientation is mandatory! Get to know your mentor and the people in the registration office as well as the rules for financial aid, and I give you full reign to be annoying here (I probably was). Talk to your teachers because classes are small and you should be taking advantage of that fact.

    In three sentences

This school touts itself as the campus of tomorrow, and I would agree with that from all that I have learned while enrolled this semester. The teachers try to do things differently, thinking outside the box while engaging the classroom at the same time. It's hard, but so is school. The teachers will help along with the people in admissions and registrations. Plus, they all really know their stuff!

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early! If accepted, attend the earliest Bear Essentials- you register for classes at that time. The later you attend Bear Essentials, the less options you'll have for courses.

The quality of the education for the price is, well, a steal.

    What to do for fun

GGC is a campus that, in my opinion, balances 21st century technology with nature admirably. The campus focuses much of its resources on science and information technology, and the buildings take their architectural cue from this attention. Fast and up-to-date computers are everywhere around the campus, so you will never find yourself lacking access to the internet. There are multiple cafes throughout the buildings, and of course, a library with private rooms you can reserve for yourself or friends to study or work together. Overall, GGC is a campus that makes it easy to congregate with your friends, whether you want to meet in a large open area under the shade, or a quiet room in the library.

    Food and Dining

This is the only part of GGC I am not particularly fond of. The eatery is fairly standard fare, with subs, wraps, pizza, and that sort of stuff. It was recently improved - vastly I should say - with the newly built buffet in GGC's student center. However, I still prefer to go eat at the multiple fast food places nearby.

    Dorm Life

I am not a resident at GGC, so I cannot speak to the dorm life. However, the dorms are a little less than a year old, so they are fresh and well built.

    Academic Rigor

As with all institutions, the rigor of the course is highly dependent upon the professor you choose. GGC gives their faculty great leeway when it comes to their classrooms, and many will have a personal style that inevitably influences their teaching. Overall, my abilities and critical thinking skills have been tested more than they have not.

    Tips for prospective students

Look to nurture a personal relationship with your instructors. Their expertise in their field is invaluable, and will go a long way in establishing a solid background in your major, and beyond.

    In three sentences

A very new school with a rapidly growing, diverse student body. An opposite of schools like UGA, GGC focuses on the 1-on-1 relationship between student and instructor. Some of the most highly trained faculty in the state of Georgia.

    What to do for fun

They do have activities for undergrads but they generally cost money. There is not much to do in the way of fun.

Their articulation agreements with other schools are minimum at best. I suggest that if you begin there, transfer as soon as you can.

    In three sentences

GGC has excellent faculty and facilities. However the administration is generally clueless on how to run the college and is more interested in enrolling students then keeping the ones they have. Pretty good food, but kind of a inconvenience when they stop cooking food in the middle of the afternoon when everyone is out of class.... food runs out quickly on those days.

    Tips for prospective students

Great school to go to if you plan to transfer. Better to ask about professors from students you know rather than reading things online, because they are sometimes exaggerated.

Great for these types of students

There is something for everybody, most people are friendly, there is rarely a time when a guy hasn't held the door open for me. The professors are personal and friendly, you can really talk to them, and they never hesitate to help.

    Bang for the buck

I cannot stress how much money you can save by shopping for your textbooks online, used, and usually in good condition.

    What to do for fun

There are a few parks with fabulous trails within 10 miles, Lawrenceville Square has several exceptional restaurants and shopping opportunities, and the Mall of Georgia is so close. And I must mention the Starbucks that is about 2 miles away, on Duluth highway, and there is an AMC across the street if you want to go see a movie. This college is in the perfect location!

    Food and Dining

There are multiple places around campus to get a bite. My personal favorite is the Starbucks in B, but there are places all over, including a sub shop, a couple of cafe's, and a pizza shop (the pizza is really good).

    Dorm Life

The dorms are new, and very nice.

    Academic Rigor

It is not easy, but it isn't ridiculous either. You study about as much as you would expect to.

    Tips for prospective students

Always look eager in class but don't bother the professor too much. If you are eager, but not annoying, and show in your grades that you are paying attention, they will usually give you that extra point or two at the end of the semester to bump you up a letter.

    In three sentences

Georgia Gwinnett is absolutely the best choice for local students. It is cost effective compared to other colleges, and still has the authentic college experience many students don't want to miss. Academically it is not crazy but it is serious enough to feel like you are getting something out of it.

    Campus Safety

Although this is a wonderful place and all, there are some safety issues. I have heard of a girl being assaulted in the parking pot at night. Good thing GGC just installed a new software to call cops so they could walk one to their vehicle when needed. Asides from that, it is a peaceful place.

    Greek Life

I don't know if there any fraternities here at GGC.

    Clubs and Activities

There almost a club for anything, if not one can simply make his or her own club for others to join.

Great for these types of students

This college is great for students who are organized, outgoing, and don't really look for something expensive.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Walk Through the Arc was a strange tradition where all the upcoming 1st year students walked through the GGC arc.

    What to do for fun

There are many clubs one can join around the campus from dance clubs, reading clubs, to even video game clubs. If the club one looks for is not listed, one could simply gather people and make one.

    Food and Dining

I really love the food here. It's a walk in buffet which has fine dishes such as Chinese food, delicious junk food such as pizza, and even healthy foods such as vegetables and fruits. It really is a variety to pick from.

    Dorm Life

I don't dorm here but from my friend's points of view, it's alright to dorm here although some people could be too loud at night.

    Academic Rigor

College should not be difficult. The only challenging part to it is time management and organizing.

    Tips for prospective students

Visit the library and explore the wonders.

    In three sentences

I really enjoy going to Georgia Gwinnett College. I'm not saying that just because I go here but because I want to stay here. The environment is so well organized and the staff and people are very friendly as well.

I am currently attending for the first time and I am having a wonderful experience. I have been to several schools in GA and this is by far the best. I love the campus, the classes and the ability to take classes on the weekend.

    Campus Safety

The campus safety is pretty good. There's also a campus police car around and they have a number you can call for an escort if you're leaving campus at night and feel you need someone to escort you to your car. The campus crime is pretty much non existent.

    Greek Life

There is no Greek life unfortunately.

    Clubs and Activities

There's a pretty good amount of student led clubs on campus. They have a soccer club, Caribbean student club, chess club. There's just about every kind of club you can imagine on campus. There's also intramural sports and the college just got sports teams for soccer, softball and baseball.

Great for these types of students

This college is great for students who are commuters in Gwinnett county or students who prefer a smaller class size. All the classes are 20-30 students per class so it's easier to retain the material and talk to the professor.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There's a room on campus called the LVIS room and I've noticed that every party and major event held on campus is held in that room so I'm assuming that's the campus party room.

    Bang for the buck

This school is DEFINITELY worth the money. The tuition is very cheap and is the reason why I enrolled in the school in the first place. You're not going to find a cheaper school tuition wise in Georgia that is also a four year college with on campus housing.

    What to do for fun

There's a game room on campus so I spend most of my time in there. They have just about all the good games on PS3, Xbox 360 and the Xbox Kinect. There's also ping pong tables and pool tables in the room.

    Food and Dining

The food is pretty good. The dining hall has the basic stations but the best food on campus is in the other buildings that also have classes in them. In the other buildings they have a Quizno's and WOW Wings Cafe. Also there's a cafe called Jazzman's on campus that has great coffee and pastries.

    Dorm Life

The housing is brand new and each apartment has a kitchenette, flat screen TV, and furniture in the living room and bedrooms included. The dorms are relatively fun but can get boring if you're not with the right set of people.

    Academic Rigor

Majority of the professors have PhD's so don't expect the courses to be high school easy. The classes are not too hard but not too easy and the professors work really hard to make sure you understand the material.

    Tips for prospective students

If you're considering this school, I would advise any prospective students to get a meal plan. The food is pretty good. Also, make sure to get all your financial aid business done as soon as possible, the school has grown over night so try to get to the financial aid office before anyone else.

    In three sentences

Georgia Gwinnett College is highly innovative. It's environmental friendly and modern. Also, majority of the professors have PhD's with NO office hours!

    Academic Rigor

Not that hard, but it really depends on the teacher you have. But overall, it isn't too bad.

    Tips for prospective students

Although there are many good teachers here, go on ratemyprofessor.com before signing up for classes! Some teachers are terrible, so you should be prepared! And remember to meet up with your counselor every semester. If you don't, they won't take a hold off your account, which prevents you from signing up for classes!!

A lot of construction around the area because of 316 and the expanding amount of students attending.

    Bang for the buck

I got 2 years of college done without any loans. I learned quite a bit and a lot of the classes transfer, even to schools like Georgia Tech.

    What to do for fun

... Nothing really to do in Lawrenceville. But there are plenty of clubs, activities, and groups that do community service and events.

    Food and Dining

Good variety of food with a campus buffet and some fast food choices. There are also a lot of local places since the college is not too far from the mall of Georgia. A little expensive on campus, but it was of good quality.

    Academic Rigor

Very easy. I took AP in high school and was blown away by how easy this school was. Some of the classes were VERY informative and interesting, so just because it is easy, that doesn't mean its not a good school. I worked 20-30 hours a week and had a lot of down time and still had a 4.0. If I can do it, anyone can.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Commute; not worth living on campus. 2. Do your HW. As long as you pay attention in class and do your assignments, you should do fine. 3. If you are commuting, parking is scarce. Leave in plenty of time.

    In three sentences

Georgia Gwinnett college is a good transition school for students coming out of high school. The classes are small like high school yet the material is more college-level. The school is a bit overcrowded, but the diverse student and teacher community makes it a very interesting campus.

Every time you walk to class whether it's early in the morning or late at night there is always a police car patrolling the premises. Also, if you don't feel safe walking to class you can always call and ask a security guard to escort you. In the dorms there are plenty of security guards monitoring the cameras and front, back, and side entrances at all times.

    Greek Life

Slowly but surely Georgia Gwinnett College will have sororities and fraternities in the future.

    Clubs and Activities

Georgia Gwinnett College has plenty of clubs and organizations that can fit your type of style.

Georgia Gwinnett College is a good start whether your a freshman or a transfer student.

Make sure you check out Jazzman's they have amazing coffee there and sometimes make a stop over at Starbucks and they also have a mini cafe in there as well that serves all types of sandwiches.

    Bang for the buck

Georgia Gwinnett College is cheaper than other colleges or universities, because its smaller and through time it will branch out more.

    What to do for fun

There is always events on campus that usually have free food. Also almost every Friday, Greenlight hosts a dance or some type of themed event that are really fun to go to.

    Food and Dining

First, eating at the dining hall is great and all, but after a month or two you'll get tired of eating at the same stations that you go to almost everyday. So, I would suggest checking out the Starbucks , Jazzman's and A Building Cafe( they have Quiznos, Marketplace, and World of Wings).

    Dorm Life

The reason why I didn't rate it a full 5 stars was, because the walls in the dorms are so thin. On the bright side you get your own room and you share a bathroom with one other person and you have a living area with a flat screen tv! You have a refrigerator that you share with other roommates and the dorms is a really nice place to meet new people.

    Academic Rigor

Teachers will usually respond back to a text or call within 24 hours. Also, the majority of teachers are willing to give you extra help whether you need extra time after class or scheduling a meeting with them.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Make sure you always review over old material, because you can soon forget it by the time of the final. 2. Keep in contact with your professor, whether its via email, text, or call. 3. TIME MANAGEMENT IS KEY!

    In three sentences

I would give Georgia Gwinnett College five stars. They have an excellent staff who will willingly help you. Also, there are plenty of ways to help you find extra help; tutors and the AEC(academic enhancement center).

    Greek Life

GGC does not have sororities or fraternities. They might one day because they ate trying to transform into a big university.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a lot of great clubs and groups at GGC to be involved with. They can serve as a substitute of a sorority/fraternity.

Great for these types of students

Students who are looking to transfer but who are tight on money at the moment. Also, the school is good for students who like to have their own room in the dorms.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

An unusual tradition is that we do not have Greek Life, but we do have groups that set up special guests for the school and clubs that holds special events for students.

    Bang for the buck

I think that the room and board is definitely worth living on campus but I feel that the tuition is a bit too much for the school.

    What to do for fun

We have a game room on campus which consists of pool tables, ping pong tables, video games, and board games. Also, the dorms have a lot of activities planned for us and a few special guests that come.

    Food and Dining

The dining hall is pretty good. We have really good food except we have the same things every day so it might get boring. We have a Starbucks, Quiznos, Jazzmans, Wow Wings, and Marketplace on campus and they except munch money and real money. My favorite place to go to is the Starbucks.

    Dorm Life

Living on campus is great because we get our own bedrooms and we share a suite. We share a small kitchen with no stove/oven and we have two people to each bathroom and separate sinks. The bad part is the cost. A lot of people cannot afford it along with tuition itself because there are a lot of unnecessary fees.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are not hard at all and they are very good because they are not huge auditoriums. The classrooms are small, intimate spaces where you can get specific attention.

    Tips for prospective students

The number one thing is to make sure you pay attention to deadlines. They are very strict on deadlines and will drop your classes if every penny is not paid by that deadline.

    In three sentences

Georgia Gwinnett College is seen as a college that you would attend for one or two years then transfer. The classes are mainly core classes and they are pretty easy to get A's and B's in. Overall, the school is pretty good for people who are tight on money.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

GGC has a Get Involve Initiative, that sends email alerts to students about upcoming events on and off campus. (Free Rock Climbing, Free Move tickets to new movie premieres, ect.).

    Bang for the buck

GGC is probably the most affordable and convenient college option for students living in and around the Lilburn/Gwinnett, as tuition and fees w/ commuting only around 2,000-3,000 dollars for upwards of 15-16 credit classes

    What to do for fun

GGC have various game rooms throughout campus. You can also checkout videos and games, as well as books from the campus library. The GGC gym has a full equipped weight room, cardio center, yoga/fitness-class studio, an indoor track,a basketball court, racquetball courts and a saltwater pool, as well as outdoor soccer field and baseball stadium, and other amenities.

    Food and Dining

The food at GGC are okay, there's options ranging from the main cafeteria buffet, to various food court stand. The Market Place over in A building has a get breakfast menu in the mornings and serve pizza and pre-made daily snacks during the lunch rush. Personally, I am a picky eater, but others seem to enjoy the food and dining offered.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are fairly new, and within walking distance from the campus. Students have a range of options on dorms from (3 bedrooms to 6 bedrooms) with price lowering upon the addition of (bedrooms/ roommates). Private and 2 person dorms rooms might be available, but tend to be the more costly option. Most people hang out in the rec area of the dorms and the quad so you'll never lack for company (provided your a social person). The dorms are quite empty early morning and midday though so you will get quite time.

    Academic Rigor

GGC is rigorous, technical, and innovative. Students at GGC, all use various online programs (D2L, BlackBoard, Galileo, MyMathLab, GetActive, MasteringChemistry, ect.) as a part of their classroom curriculum to insure computer complacency after graduation. The facilities are equipped with many Mac Computers, and the entire campus is equipped with wi-fi, to accommodate student computer usage within campus. The professors are all skilled and competent within their subject matters, and some of them have the most amazing personalities.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should not be afraid to take advantage of a professors tutoring hours, or the tutoring offered in the Academic Enrichment Center on the 2nd floor of the library. They should take the time to explore the campus, (the gym, the pool, the game rooms, ect.), since GGC has a lot to offer if one is willing to go explore and the Get Involve Initiative at GGC offer students promotions, events and activities in and outside of campus, often free of charge, with a bus transportation option from campus to the location. GGC is more than about learning (while that is an important part of the college process), their goal is to foster an environment for well rounded, articulate, creative, socially and academically active individuals to develop their needed skills.

Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) is a rapidly growing liberal institution conveniently located in Lilburn Georgia, off of University Park Way (Highway S85) with a small-medium class size (18-30 People). The Professors at GGC are all experience professionals who seem to be willing to go above and beyond for their students provided a reciprocated effort on part of the student. The facilities are ever-expanding and will have a Nursing Graduate school in the near future.

Police everywhere and at orientation, campus safety training is learned.

    Greek Life

    Little to none!

    Clubs and Activities

Clubs for everyone! Activities for everyone, as well. GGC always has something going on like Corn-in-Hole tournaments, soccer tournaments, etc. They have free screenings of movies almost every week. There is a club for everyone. If there isn't one that catches your eye, you have the ability to make your own!

Great for these types of students

If you have a heavy work schedule or you live at home, GGC is for you. They offer flexible schedules that work around YOU.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every year, the freshman participate in something called March the Arch. It symbolizes a transition from high school to college and it is fun because you get to meet a lot of new people.

    Bang for the buck

If you are looking for a school that does not break the bank, GGC is for you. They have everything available for you while other schools may charge you more for it.

    What to do for fun

Join clubs! They are always doing something. Also, there is a game room filled with video games, pool, and ping pong.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria is great, offering many selections, but the lines are so long. The food looks like it tastes good, but it does not have much flavor.

    Dorm Life

Dorms are so nice, but they are not diverse enough. It is very difficult to find a roommate with similarities so people are assigned roommates with completely different personalities.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are not hard at all. Just pay attention, manage your time wisely, and always work ahead.

    Tips for prospective students

Always work ahead. The professors always give you some heads up and if you wait until the last moment, you cannot succeed in college. Be prepared. Keep an agenda and be aware of assignments professors give you. Write them down and try to work on them immediately.

    In three sentences

Georgia Gwinnett has very nice facilities and very dedicated professors. However, all the students at GGC have it too easy. If you are a dedicated and motivated student, GGC is not for you because not all the kids there are not on the same page as you.

Great for these types of students

Great for non-traditional or focused students. If you are going to college just to party, this is not the place.

    Bang for the buck

Great value for the money. You will not get a watered down education, like the larger state schools. There are no egotistical tenured professors taking up space or large lecture halls with 300 plus students. The professors are there to teach, enjoy teaching, and love teaching. Because the school is young, the professors want to be part of the success.

    What to do for fun

A car is needed. However, campus is close to downtown Lawrenceville and 30 minutes from Atlanta. There is no Greek life or football team. You need to make your own fun.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are difficult. However, the professors are highly involved in the teaching process, and make it easier. The material is the same no matter where you go. Not your traditional (tenured) professors that expect you to teach yourself. One of my accounting professors makes videos of the lecture available online and uses class time to work problems and help. The professors are great communicators and have the ability to convey the most complex subjects to almost anyone.

    Tips for prospective students

Not your big state party school. A great value for the money. If you are planning to go to graduate school, this is a great place to spend your first 4 years.

    In three sentences

It's nice to have highly qualified untenured professors in small classes, catering to those who pay to be there (No TAs) If you are majoring in accounting, the professors will go out of their way to make sure you know the material, which comes in handy if you plan to pass the CPA exam. I am returning to college after several years and can honestly say that I have never had such outstanding professors.

AMAZING dorms! You get your own room, a kitchen, your own sink and everything is brand new! The people living in the dorms are terrible and they don't want to do anything but stand in the parking lot at 3 am and smoke and listen to loud music.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers are wonderful and the class sizes are small. However, there aren't a lot of majors and the school is not really academically focused. It seems like they care a lot more about expanding the school than providing quality eduation.

    Tips for prospective students

Dorms at Georgia Gwinnett College are like mini apartments excluding a full kitchen. You have your own personal room with a door that can actually lock, a living area with a big screen television, and you have a bathroom that you have to share with one other person which wasn't that bad.

    Academic Rigor

The teacher at Georgia Gwinnett College are so amazing. They actually want to see each and every student succeed in the career of their choice.

    Tips for prospective students

Tuition is capped off at $1700 for full time! Financial aid opportunities is always there. So the education our receive here is a steal since you are learning from the most coolest, often easy going, professional teachers here.

    What to do for fun

There is always something happening on campus, whether they rent a game van which is a van on campus whenever you have time between classes just go in and hang out. It's so random, you can't even. One day, there was just a random bounce house on the quad?! The game room is always a great place to hang out or the various small restaurants on campus like Jazzman's cafe near the library. The library is the second hotspot full of the best computers and tons of books. Also, another place to kill your boredom is going to the fitness center on campus replete with indoor track, indoor pool, indoor tennis court and a weight lifting section. There is always something to do at GGC with friends or by yourself. There is always something happening whether interesting speakers coming to talk about interesting topics, club activities, trips to the aurora theater to check out community plays. Always check the emails or bulletins they send. Rock climbing, hiking trips are always available to students. So take the opportunity to immerse yourself in campus life and get yourself out there. Try new things because GGC is abundant in opportunities for students.

    Food and Dining

GGC dining is so great. I go there twice a week even though I don't have a meal plan. The food there is always varied to suit anyone's tastes. The dessert section and coffee section is the best in my opinion. I always love going there to eat. It's the best part of my day. I prefer it since I eat healthier that way.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is so great. Most people commute to GGC since many students live in the Lawerenceville area. However, if you want a taste of true independence and living by yourself (well amongst roommates) this is the way to go. In every dorm, is a flat screen tv, and sparse furnishings. You get the standard microwave and oven. Decent bathrooms. The dorms have a communal game room, study room, and so much more.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor at GGC depends upon you. This is college, not high school so there are not any busy work assignment. Just lecture and practical assignments. Depending on your prospective major, you know what you're getting into and the work you get depends upon that but ultimately whether it's overwhelming or a piece of cake depends on your time management and effort. One thing is assured that everything you learn here can be put to practical use.

    Tips for prospective students

Come to GGC if you're looking for a relaxed and sophisticated school environment. The campus may be small and the classes not so big but that means you get more attention and can easily get help. GGC is always expanding and with more prospective students like you, GGC will be open to a wealth of programs that are in the beginning stage.

    In three sentences

GGC is a great college to attend for students who think they can't afford college. Tuition is capped at 1700 for going full time and all professors have a PhD so they are so qualified to teach and so cool as well. If you love food, fun, and random events occurring, GGC is the place for you.

Hit up the game room for some fun. Sugarloaf Mills mall is not far, which has a D&B, a skate park, and a movie theater, among other entertainments. The gym has a racquetball room and ping pong tables. You can rent equipment.

    Food and Dining

The Dining Hall is fairly large with a variety of foods in an all-you-can-eat set up. Try the Mongolian Grill! There are outlets around for charging laptops, and the wifi is pretty reliable here.

    Dorm Life

From what I've seen, the dorms are nice, clean, and well secured. Parking near the buildings is limited, however. I haven't lived in a dorm.

    Academic Rigor

Most classes I've had are fairly easy and require little work, and there don't seem to be high expectations.

    Tips for prospective students

Look for reviews on professors, as they are pretty hit or miss. I've had courses where I was expected to teach myself basically, and then come in with questions. Look into your major and what it entails- if you aren't sure what major, look at all of the ones you are interested in, as unexpected degree changes can lead to wasted classes. The library is great- use study rooms and nooks to catch up between classes!

    In three sentences

The GGC campus is fairly nice, though parking is overcrowded and you often end up pretty far from buildings. I have had some really great professors who love their jobs, but I've had more than a few professors who were completely unorganized and taught at an extremely low level. For the cost, it is a great school.

    Academic Rigor

The academic really depends on what classes you take; for example chemistry will be alot harder than film. So its primarily the classes and your study level and preparation for class.

    Tips for prospective students

In my mind the major tip is research who your future professors are going to be. Mostly in my opinion you want to go to school knowing what you want to do in life saving yourself time energy and money and taking classes you don't necessarily need for your majors or goals in life.

    In three sentences

Georgia Gwinnett College is not a bad school at all. The only reason I came to this school was because I know that it is cheaper for me to go to GGC and get my core classes out of the way. If you're hurting for money then this school is a great place to start. My tuition for this semester starts at $2,400. After HOPE I owe around $1,300 for this semester alone (not including textbooks.) This school would also be great for you if you work a lot and don't party much.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The school is right off of Lawrenceville-Suwanee so there are plenty of places to eat that are close by. The school is relatively new so there is a lack of tradition, of course.

GGC is school. Because I'm only a freshman on my second semester it may be a little too early for me to be giving my opinion. I feel as though at GGC I'm still going through high school. Of course the teachers leave you alone and things seem relaxed but the classroom sizes are small and most of the students are dull. I may have not experienced everything I can at GGC, but I definitely haven't received much bang for my buck.

    What to do for fun

GGC has a recreational room where students go to relax to play some video games, play some ping-pong, shoot some pool, or just to hang out and study. The room isn't spectacular and kind of crowded at certain times. Better than nothing.

They have a Starbucks, Quiznos, and a Wow cafe. Everything in these stores are ridiculously over priced. If you want to eat at the cafeteria they either charge you $7.50 to get in, or you have to pay over two-hundred dollars for a meal plan of 15 meals for yourself and five for a guest which will get you an all you can eat buffet. (Freshman are required to buy a meal plan regardless.)

    Dorm Life

I commute but i've seen the dorms and they are BEAUTIFUL. Of course they are extremely expensive, but beautiful nonetheless.

    Academic Rigor

Food is good enough to eat most of the time

    Dorm Life

I don't live on campus but I've seen the dorms and they are REALLY nice

    Academic Rigor

Easier than any school I've ever been to

    Tips for prospective students

Don't freak out before you go here. This college is not as hard as college is made out to be.

    In three sentences

I'd give the college two and a half out of five stars. It has good teachers and the campus is nice but the students here are not the best of people.

    What to do for fun

Student involved activities all over campus and they are all of the time as well.

    Food and Dining

The food court is a great place to eat and hang out with other students.

    Dorm Life

I am insure about the dorm life, because I live off campus.

    Academic Rigor

The academics are rigorous, but no more than any other USG college. However, with the professors always helping and available for help, it makes it much easier.

    Tips for prospective students

This is a great campus to attend. The teachers want to help you. There are so many student involved activities here that are fun and helpful.

    In three sentences

It is a rapidly growing campus. The professors and teachers actually care about the well-being of the students more than any other college that I have attended. The classes are small, which makes the professors more available to the students during class and outside of class.

    What to do for fun

There is ultimate frisbee, bible study, film contests, and they one time had a masquerade ball. You can hangout at the library, coffee shop, or cafeteria. There is also a great gym for working out, playing basketball, and swimming.

    Food and Dining

They're food was pretty good. Definitely better than high school cafeteria food. They have lots of options from Asian, to subs, to on the grill, to pizza, and others. But somedays the food at the Asian station can taste bland.

    Dorm Life

I hear that it's pretty good. I haven't actually had a dorm though.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are very easy. Most classes have lots of reading assignments, some writing, and a few tests or essays. This means little to no busy work but reading is very easy to fall behind in if you don't keep track. Math is of course going to be different and only has homework online on MyMathLab. This gives you an unlimited amount of tries getting questions right and is an easy 100 for your homework grade.

    Tips for prospective students

If you have any early classes, you want to get to the school an hour early in order to get good parking or to get any parking. It can get dangerous right before classes when everyone is fighting for the few parking places the school has. If you have any classes in the A building, I suggest you go to the college a day before you classes begin and try to find them. It is ALWAYS confusing to get through A building your first semester. For dual enroll students, besides signing up for your classes, bear essentials is absolutely pointless!!!! For whatever reason they still require you and your parent to pay go and walk around and hear people talk in the hour long parent meeting and 2 hour long student meeting about things that ONLY apply for traditional students. When paying for classes, carefully read through and make sure that what you are paying is the right amount, especially if you are changing your student status from dual enroll to freshman. They sometimes forget to change your status as a student and don't apply HOPE into your payment.

    In three sentences

Good college to get all the basics done, but I don't recommend it for graduating. The campus is small but it is starting to expand and improve. Overall, it is a good commuters school but it is average when compared to the others in Georgia.

    In three sentences

GGC is a nice college if you like the whole high-school aspect, and want to have smaller classes. Its not like many other colleges and universities, since it is only about 30 students a class. Overall the college is ok but i do not enjoy it.

It is a very friendly school. The community there is ready to help and find way to help you make it through school. The teachers are there to assist you in any way possible.

    Campus Safety

GGC sure does like making it's students feel safe while on campus. You can almost always guarantee seeing an officer any where you are on campus which in my opinion helps deter crime. There has only been one incident I can recall where people were scared for their safety, but after GGC police did an investigation, they determined the allegations had been false. I always feel safe while on campus.

    What to do for fun

There is a lounge-like room next to the dining hall where I have seen many students hanging out. There are tv's there with game consoles. There are also pool tables, ping pong tables, and many other activities that students can do to keep occupied. There is also a very big gym for people who would rather work out and stay fit. It has an indoor pool, indoor running track, hot tubs, locker rooms, and many other amenities.

    Food and Dining

The food around campus features a lot of big chain fast food places such as GGCity Cafe which product serves Starbucks coffee. Additionally, the school's dining hall is reasonably priced and includes an all you can eat dining experience with foods ranging from cereal to pizza and subs to all sorts of desserts and pastries.

    Dorm Life

I don't personally live on campus, but I know the school just recently had the new dorm buildings open and they look really nice. Security is good there as well so I know the residents feel safe.

    Academic Rigor

The courses are mixed on their difficulty level. It all comes down to the professor. I can only speak for the Criminal Justice department, I have had every single Criminal Justice professor at GGC and they are all amazing. If you're not sure you should check out professor rating websites.

    Tips for prospective students

To any prospective students, I would recommend getting on campus way before your class time, as parking is hard to find.

    In three sentences

This is a really great school to attend as it is fully accredited and the price is reasonable. The professors here are willing to help any student that asks. This school is growing very quickly though and I feel space will become an issue in the near future if this school does not start expanding now. Parking is already a problem, but other than that, this school is amazing and I'm glad I can have the honor of graduating from this school in the upcoming months.

The classes are not terribly difficult as long as you show up and turn in good quality work.

Georgia Gwinnett college is a great school for anyone who has just graduated high school. Students are able to access many different forms of technology and the professors are great.

    Campus Safety

I never felt unsafe at the campus. They also allow you to sign up for safety texting. You can text security if you are at the campus late and would like to be taken to your car or if you see something suspicious going on.

    Greek Life

No Greek life while I was attending.

    Clubs and Activities

I know the college offered quite a few clubs and were always making announcements about upcoming events. Georgia Gwinnett did try to connect the student body to clubs or activities.

Great for these types of students

Students that are looking for middle ground. I didn't want to attend a community college, but I also didn't want to attend a school as big as UGA. I found that the size of the student body was nice.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

An unusual spot that a friend and I located was on the second floor of B building. We found that offered the most quiet to do a little studying before our next class and Starbucks was just downstairs. In the Library, they also have glass rooms that are great for group study sessions.

    Bang for the buck

The college has a fair tuition rate. Other than losing my loan check and causing me to pay a ton in interests rates while they located it, I would say the college has a good rate for students.

    What to do for fun

Unfortunately, I cannot speak much for the campus activities. I was a working college student and usually left the campus right after classes. I do know that I heard a lot about the sports the college offered. The student body had a lot of school spirit. If you're into fitness, the college offered a nice gym. The staff there was always friendly. They also have a game room available for students. I know many students would find that to be a nice place to catch a break in between classes.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria offered quite a few options for meals and for a fairly good price. The area was kept clean and was in the middle of the campus so it made for easy access.

    Dorm Life

I lived off campus, so I cannot speak to how the dorms where. I do know they had been newly renovated in 2011. The inside seemed very functional, but I do not know how the college was as far as rules within the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

Most of my professors spent more time talking about their personal lives than teaching. I am very tight with my money and because I was personally paying for my education, I wanted to get the best education possible. When I show up to class, I expect to learn, not gossip for the entire class.

    Tips for prospective students

Do things early! After a certain time period, the admissions staff turns off their phones so they can only be reached in person, which requires standing in line for 2 hours. Just be cautious! I have friends who attend the college and love it. I had a TERRIBLE experience with them that has caused me financial trouble even after leaving the college. Be weary of the location! It is on a busy road that means for sitting in a lot of traffic to get to and from school.

    In three sentences

Georgia Gwinnett College lost my interest almost immediately after I had enrolled. After losing my transcript 3 times, I was unable to get the HOPE scholarship that I earned because my transcript wasn't turned in by the college on time. The financial aid staff also lost my loan check for over 6 months and I had to contact the Dean of the school before the issue would be taken seriously.

    Campus Safety

    Very, very safe college!

    Greek Life

No greeks on campus as of yet but, im sure they will be beginning!

    Clubs and Activities

There is pretty much a club or activity for everything and it is very easy to start your own club.

Great for these types of students

Great college for commuters, traditional students, non traditional students. Ive never lived on campus but, this is a great college.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Lots of different locations to study and hang out but, I do wish there was more outdoor space to hang out during the summer.

    Bang for the buck

I believe the school is well worth the money! Still a lot cheaper then a university but, almost exactly like one!

    What to do for fun

The school always has a variety of events going on so it is easy to stay busy. As far as night life is concerned you will definitely need to go off campus.

    Food and Dining

The dining hall has a large variety. There isn't many other options but, I do know that they are looking into getting a chick fila and a chipotle on campus :)

    Dorm Life

I have never lived in the dorms but, I can say that they are very nice. They were built just recently and they include a variety of excellent amenities.

    Academic Rigor

The professors in the criminal justice department all have a variety of backgrounds which I feel has contributed greatly to my education. Some of them have been in the police force while others have worked in criminology and research.

    Tips for prospective students

Take your time picking a major. The school is beginning to offer a lot more majors. Take all of your core courses first and then decide what you want to major in. Saves time, money and other resources.

    In three sentences

Georgia Gwinnett College is a great school with a variety of opportunities. There is a lot to do on campus and it is constantly growing. Perfect for traditional and non traditional students.
