Great for these types of students

Homebody's, Likes smaller crowd setting, Likes to get school done and get off campus, Likes a very diverse setting, and someone looking for a cost effective college.

    Tips for prospective students

Become involved in activities that excite you. Be assertive in making friends because in college, no one is making you create a community for yourself. Get to school early enough to find a good parking spot, or any parking spot at that.

    Bang for the buck

I believe you get a great deal for going to this college. You are basically paying less than half of what other people are paying to go to a state school and learn the same thing.

    Did enjoy being here

The campus was very pretty. They just now rebuild a new building that is where the bookstore is and where kids hang out. The reason I did not enjoy being here was because it didn't have the college feel. Although, it is a community college!

    Did learn a lot

I started attending this school the semester after I graduated high school and believed that it was relatively easy. The first semester, based on what you take, is a big review of high school. I did learn some new things but most of it was a reminder.

Great for these types of students

Students who are preparing to transfer to a 4 year instituition. Difficult Nursing Program, Dental Assisting and Associate Degree.

    Tips for prospective students

It will feel like a review (for those of you who paid attention in high school) with some of the courses you take. Yet don't slack off just because you know the information. You can easily fall behind in class especially in college. Teachers don't give you scantrons, you will have to buy them from the vending machine (I know it's a bit much). All teachers aren't the same *key. Make friends, get involved, GPC ALWAYS have something going on so participate.

    Bang for the buck

A plus for those who may not be ready for the $15,000+ tuition, that you would get at a 4 year. In state students save a lot. Example, a semester I was $1,117. Talk about savings!!!!

    Did enjoy being here

At first I didn't enjoy being at GPC due to the fact I felt I should've been enrolled at a University. : P. Yet I can say looking back that it helped shape who I am today. What did I know then, I was only 18. Didn't really feel I got the college experience that I wanted. Since its a community college.

    Did learn a lot

I learned a great deal. From experience I had some wonderful, weird yet interesting teachers. LOL!!! In college period, regardless of 2 year or 4 year, you will learn a lot. For those of you who make the best out of your college experience. It is also best that you take notes and get familar with your professors. I.e, their methods of teaching, what they tolerate and going above the call of duty. Pays off in the long run.

Great for these types of students

Any student who wants an affordable education and is willing to put effort in their future.

    Tips for prospective students

Perimeter is a great school to get a ground base for school. I highly recommend it to anyone. Especially those who cannot afford to go to their first choice college. This gives you two affordable years to find scholarships and grants.

    Am enjoying being here

This is a college that you go to just to get your education. I only go to the Alpharetta campus and there is not as much of a college social life on that campus.

Great for these types of students

Anyone who needs a way to go to college and won't have to worry as much when it comes to tuition costs.

    Tips for prospective students

Just because it is a 2 year college does not mean you can slack off. Its still college and it needs to be taken seriously.

    Bang for the buck

Since I do not have much money at the moment, it has help me by being good price on the tuition and on my books.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus I am currently at is nice and quiet on most days and lively on campus on some days.

    Am learning a lot

Experiencing it for the first semester was great. I am doing much better in college than I did in high school so it is better.

Great for these types of students

Cash-strapped students, those with a family, looking to meet a diverse crowd, focused on education and education only

    Tips for prospective students

Stay on top of things, stay organized with dates. Go to class! You won't have massive lecture halls to hide in, the class sizes are very small. Make friends with the people around you, it makes things a lot easier. Keep an open mind when you talk to people. Your classmates are the most diverse you can imagine, ranging from age to ethnicity to background. Everyone has a story to tell, listen to them.

    Bang for the buck

DEFINITELY. There's no way that you can find a better deal. It's a great plan for someone who plans to transfer to a 4 year school (like me). Take your prerequisites or get an associate and transfer out. They even have the TAG with many schools in Georgia and even a few out of state. That TAG will save you! The money that you could be spending to learn the same things you would be at another 4 year university will be in your pocket.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy my time at Perimeter, more or less. I had my choice of several other schools, but I could not afford them so I was stuck with GPC. In the long run, I know I made the better decision instead of taking out a loan. There's not a college feel to it, but there's always something to do.

    Am learning a lot

A lot of the work is review from high school, but don't let that get to you. The professors move at a fast pace and they expect you to keep up. They have no mercy, even if this is your first semester in college. It's easy to make friends here, and you will meet people from every part of the world and of every age.

Great for these types of students

Non-traditonal, foreign exchange/transfer, and students that aren't entirely sold on the college route yet. ;)

    Bang for the buck

It is certainly more cost effective to take at least core courses at GPC. They are the same courses a student must and will take at any college, except it's greatly reduced tuition.

    Food and Dining

The college cafe has decent food and there is vending everywhere on campus. I like that the vending machines take cards because I never have cash! :)

    Dorm Life

    No dorms here....

    Academic Rigor

College is hard, any way you slice it. But smaller classes at GPC making learning it a little easier and more personal. It's a lot more realistic to get help from the professor in a class of 30 versus 300.

    Tips for prospective students

Get invovled! There are so many different organizations and clubs at GPC, there is bound to be one that fits. Employers take into account how a student is involved as well as academic performance.

    In three sentences

GPC is a great school for non-traditional students. I don't feel like I stick out as a student in my 30s. Also, they offer a [credit] transfer admission guarantee program for when I transfer to my next school to complete my degree.

It takes an arm and a leg to get in the school because they want shot records i couldnt find and the took a very long time just to tell me if i was excepted, so of coure i missed deadlines but when i got in i mad up the time.

    Bang for the buck

I was denied in state so it was more inspensive for me but i pulled it through. Thank God

    Will enjoy being here

The campus always have some kind of activity going on.

Great for these types of students

Do your work. Respect your teachers. Get involved in as many extra curricular activities as possible.

    Tips for prospective students

If you want to save money and want to do well in school with out all the distractions of a large university, this is the place for you.

    Bang for the buck

The cost is the best part about perimeter. You can get all your core classes done at a fraction of the cost of other colleges and universities. Then once finished with your associates degree at Perimeter, the credits are easily transferred a larger school of your choice.

    Am enjoying being here

The teachers are very helpful and it's nice to stay to close to home. It's a good way to transition from high school to college.

    Am learning a lot

I am making all good grades and the classes are interesting.

    Clubs and Activities

Haven't had the pleasure to go to any club meetings yet, but the Baptist College Ministry at my campus is really welcoming, and the Student Government does a great job around campus with welcome week.

Great for these types of students

Those who have trouble transitioning, aren't quite ready to be away from home yet, those who like a small college feel.

    Bang for the buck

I'm paying only about $600 p/semester thanks to my scholarship. However, not all of your classes will count as equivalents should you plan to transfer. Look into that! I ended up taking a math class I didn't even need at the advisement of my counselor.

    What to do for fun

Clubs. Hang out in the student center. Talk to people. Work out.

    Food and Dining

Over-priced and okay. Much better than high school cafeteria food, but not by much.

    Dorm Life

No dorm life. It's a 2-year school! I heard that one campus has dorms, but mine doesn't.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on what classes you take, GPC can be easy or can be really hard. It depends on your professors.

    Tips for prospective students

Join a lot of clubs! Always, always, always write your teacher's email down. iCollege is almost always down, don't expect it to always be up and running.

    In three sentences

GPC is a small college that is almost reminiscent of high school. It doesn't feel like a college. Definitely ideal for those who have trouble transitioning.

    Campus Safety

The campus safety is great. Security officers are always present and all buildings are checked room by room by security officers before the close the building and during regular hours.

Great for these types of students

Great for all types of students who are pursuing any type of degree. Students from all over the world attend this school and go on to pursue successful careers.

    Bang for the buck

The bang for the buck is phenomenal. Just about all of the classes that you take here can be transferred to other colleges that may have cost you an arm and a leg if you would have taken them at those colleges. $4,000 a year is unbeatable.

    What to do for fun

Thee are not many things to do a the college itself bit most extracurricular activities are off campus and away from the school.

    Food and Dining

The food is pretty good and very affordable. All meals are $5 and they include a side and a drink. The taste might not not be five star but it will get you through the day.

    Dorm Life

Unfortunately this college does not provide dorms.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor at this school depends on the classes you take and how hard you work to learn what is being taught? For certain students some classes can be difficult and for others it can be easy. It all depends on how you apply yourself.

    Tips for prospective students

Stay focused and don't get caught up in anyone's drama. I would also suggest that you study for you classes the semester before you are planning on taking them. This will guarantee that when classes start you will breeze right through it.

    In three sentences

Georgia perimeter is a pretty good school. It has a pretty laid back atmosphere and the professors are pretty cool. If you work hard

    Campus Safety

So far i have had no issues with safety. The campus police have been on their job as far as making sure the students are safe.

    Bang for the buck

I believe that it is really reasonable for any budget.

    What to do for fun

I love going to the sport events.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining is pretty good. It is convenient to have when I am back and forth between classes. It is reasonable for my budget.

    Dorm Life

This is only a two year school that doesn't offer the dorm life most first time college students would recommend in order to get that actual college feel. I believe this is a perk for working, full time parents who don't need housing.

    Academic Rigor

Academics is a big plus on my list when it comes to looking for a school. This school seem to be all about the academic thus far and I haven't had any issues.

    Tips for prospective students

I would recommend this school to a prospect student because it has met all my expectations. They offer several different types of programs for all people and I think they would love it.

    In three sentences

I give this school an A thus far because I have just started here. I think that they have great faculty and staff because they have answered all my questions in helping be further my career. One other great aspect of this school is the convenient class schedules that tend to work well with anyone's schedule.

    Campus Safety

The Dunwoody Campus has a dedicated Campus safety building, which watches over the student body to ensure the well-being of the students. Officers are well mannered and often can be seen engaging with the students. All in all, a safety conscious college!

    Greek Life

In my short time here, I have not seen much in the way of Greek Activities and the like.

    Clubs and Activities

Even for a new student stepping on campus for the first time, the activity level of Clubs was immediately noticeable. There are a wealth of options for students to join and activities to participate in throughout the year.

    Bang for the buck

Classes are affordable, and there are financial aid options directly from the college.

    What to do for fun

There are always a plethora of events happening in downtown Atlanta, so quick access to the Metro means plenty of opportunities for fun outside of the college. Also, there are frequent activities occurring around campus, meaning there's rarely a dull moment. White Water Rafting? Yes. On-Campus Water Slides? Yep. Hiking and movie nights? Yes.

    Food and Dining

There are a few local eateries near the Dunwoody campus, but most of the best restaurants are located further in Atlanta.

    Dorm Life

Do not have a dorm yet, but they appear reasonably priced and conveiniantly located.

    Academic Rigor

Professorial are strict, and let the student know that right off the bat. The workload is heavy at times, but never to the point that the student wants to give up entirely. Encouragement is key.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early. Do not postpone any documents missing, and don't be afraid to ask for advice considering any questions you might have.

    In three sentences

Georgia Perimeter College is an affordable alternative to big-name universities that offers a great education nonetheless. It's conveniently located to many standbys and has easy access to the Metro system for commuters.

    Campus Safety

I can only speak for the Dunwoody Campus, that's the only campus I attended. But the Dunwoody campus is great when it comes to security. The school sends out text and emails if anything happens on any campus, the text are usually warning people about the Clarkston campus.

    Greek Life

There is no Greek life at GPC.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a lot of clubs that the school emails you about. I personally haven't taken advantage of them because they don't interest me.

Great for these types of students

Great for people who want to transfer to a four year University, don't get trapped at this school.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Georgia Perimeter isn't special and they don't make the students feel special so we don't have any traditions beyond giving them loads of money.

    Bang for the buck

It's cheap so you get what you pay for.

    What to do for fun

Nothing everybody commutes so when their classes end they just leave.

    Food and Dining

It's expensive and very greasy. The have vending machines all over the school.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is non existent because we don't have dorms.

    Academic Rigor

    It's like high school.

    Tips for prospective students

Search for a better school if you plan to transfer to a school like UGA or Georgia state try starting college at Georgia Gwinnett it has a real college real and it's a 4 year college. I wanted to tell the truth about the school because the other reviews are not honest at all.

    In three sentences

Georgia Perimeter is van okay school, just never graduate from there. If you do plan to attend GPC take full advantage of the Transfer Admissions Guarantee, or find a way out quick. The best advice I can give to a prospecting student is to tell you each semester pay close attention to your financial aid holds because you will not be notified if you have any.

when it comes to events, everything is usually free. it all comes under your tuition and fees. whether its homecoming dances, health fairs, or food, its usually free.

    What to do for fun

i usually spend a lot of time in the gym. they have games such as wii, uno, ping pong, and etc. they even have dance classes, such as zumba, yoga classes, and martial arts classes that go along with you tuition fees.

    Food and Dining

the best food is extremely expensive. i recommend bringing your lunch everyday. even the vending machines are unnecessarily expensive. they occasionally serve chick-fil-a sandwiches at a certain time, but they do not last long.

    Dorm Life

there are no dorms on this campus. it is a community college for everyone.

    Academic Rigor

as a student coming from a rigorous high school, this college is not too challenging. like most students, i still have to study hard, but all of the academic knowledge is just an extension of what you learn in high school.

    Tips for prospective students

i recommend that students adopt effective time management skills. if you start with a positive attitude then you will most likely finish strong. be prepared to be submerged into a diversified environment. there are people from all around the world.

    In three sentences

overall, the school is great for students fresh out of school and adults looking to go back to school. there are some teachers who have a passion for teaching, while others have a tendency to be less than supportive. i personally think these two years have changed my life for the better.

I have not had to call on them very often, but when I did they responded quickly. Some of them are military veterans, like myself, and so their dedication to the students comes from the heart.

Great for these types of students

There is something for everyone!! I am a non-traditional student, and have taken classes on campus and online. I have encountered student that graduated with my niece, and some old enough to be my grandparent. It's never too late!

    Food and Dining

The campus cafe has lots of items to choose from, and the price makes it even better. They often have specials each semester just for you.

    Dorm Life

    None

    Academic Rigor

The curriculum will certainly challenge you, but it is well worth the effort.

    Tips for prospective students

Maintain a planner of some sort (I use the Franklin-Covey system), especially if you plan to take more than one class. Information can change without warning, but it helps to have major due dates available at-a-glance. Seek out help whenever you need it. It is more beneficial than trying to wing it. Every professor I have had was happy to work with me outside of class rather than risk me not doing well.

    In three sentences

Georgia Perimeter is dedicated to your success. The staff and faculty are readily available to you and are more than willing to help you on your educational journey. There are several organizations for you to join that will keep you engaged in your community if you so choose.

The teachers and the classes are great. There just isn't anything to do.

    Tips for prospective students

Do not go to the Alpharetta campus unless all you really want to do is go to class and leave. Everyone knows each other and it is a little hard to try to make new friends there.

    In three sentences

The staff and most teachers are really helpful. They take the time to help you out with the questions you have. The Alpharetta campus doesn't have much to do unless you want to drive a few minutes to the stores and resturants around it.

Very safe, there is always a police man or security person nearby if anything out of place occurs.

    Greek Life

None- but i wouldn't expect that at this type of school.

    Clubs and Activities

Although i would be graduating soon, i kinda hoped that all the campuses of this school had more to offer. But since its the students that create these clubs, not many decide to create clubs mainly because most have other agendas and jobs to worry about.

Great for these types of students

This college have every form of person out there personality wise. No matter who you are there is a spot that you can fit in.

    Bang for the buck

I notice that there is a fair amount of people attending this school not just cause it is near but that the tuition is cheap. Its even better when your financial aide covers it.

    What to do for fun

There is always an event that the student body government host at times. I attend several but not all since it would intervene in my class times. But if you get lucky, and the teacher believe it is good for the class to go, then you can enjoy events and even get extra credit for attending.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria is clean and healthy. I personally wouldn't mind more variety and cheaper prices but i cannot complain because it really is there for snacking since no one needs to stay there all day.

    Dorm Life

There is no dorm life in this school.

    Academic Rigor

Most teachers know their stuff but it is up to the student to see if they can match the type of teaching they do. Not all the time will you find a great teacher for a complicated subject, but there is help and tutors to guide you through.

    Tips for prospective students

Be aware that you are entering a college that consist of people of everything you could imagine. Keep an open mind because you will need it in the real world. And be grateful for this opportunity to attend because unlike universities, this school prepares you for the next step in your life . It builds a foundation with smaller classrooms so you fully understand the subject. So once you graduate at least if you stop school after 2 years, you can come out knowing enough to survive on your own.

    In three sentences

Depending on the campus you intend to join, this college is overall good. No college is perfect but i see this college is bettering itself to become something great. They have campuses all over Georgia so it is great for commuting.

Campus security is always driving around campus in cars or golf carts. They constantly watch our cars in the parking lot, are quick in case of an emergency, and always around and have multiple security posts. There are also cameras every where on campus and call buttons in case you need to push them and get someone to you quickly. I always felt very safe on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

Way too many to even mention. If you want to be in a club and you say you can't find one then your not looking.

Great for these types of students

Who need to ask questions about topics, have a low school budget, want to better their own lives, want to have a good transition from the high school level to the college level.

    Bang for the buck

I felt that the education i received at GPC was a very good one. I could talk to any of the students in class and more importantly the professors about any issues I had with a problem and I would see what I was doing wrong. Of course there are bad teachers from which I heard about but I've many professors in the 90 credit hours I completed at GPC and I can tell you that each one of them would sit with me for a whole 2 hours to explain a solution or theory if that's what it took for me to understand it. And I really did learn a lot from that kind of help.

    What to do for fun

There is always some activities going on and lots of free food events they have. Also with your ID card you have access to the weight room, gym, swimming pool (if your campus of choice has one) and they have special offers sometimes on outside events.

    Food and Dining

It is kind of like any mall cafeteria is the way I would describe the setting. Food was good but could get expensive. I would bring my own lunch to save money. i would only buy drinks out of the vending machine which where about $1.25 for bottles and $0.75 for a can.

    Dorm Life

GPC does not have any on campus living which I didn't need that anyways. With 5 campuses spread around it is easy to pick the best one for yourself.

    Academic Rigor

I gave this a 3 out of 5 because it depends on your major. I am majoring in Civil Engineering so I would say Engineering would be about a 4 or 5 but if you have good study habits and don't slack of any class here with the ease of getting tutoring and help from the professors after class are easy to pass.

    Tips for prospective students

Try and know what you want to do before registering for classes. You don't want to spend your time and money on classes that you realize a year later you don't need for your major. If you are going to talk to an adviser about what classes to take ALWAYS go to the head of that department since they know what they are talking about.

    In three sentences

This school is very affordable to go to. Great to get the easy classes out of the way before going to a 4yr school plus the benefit of small classroom sizes. The school itself is very up to date as far as technology wise and they continue to update there systems.

There is a lot of security but the environment never feels hostile. On the contrary things always seem to run smoothly, it's a tranquil ambiance. The police officers are friendly and always helpful.

    Greek Life

I'm not acquainted with this aspect of the school, although in general I must say, greek life is not popular.

    Clubs and Activities

Soccer is a very popular sport. There are far too many activities and clubs to mention but there is something of interest for anybody.

Great for these types of students

Great for students wishing to spend their money diligently, as well as for students who are looking for a smaller ambiance. This school is culturally diverse and extremely open minded. People from all corners of the world and walks of life cross paths at this institution, this is inspiring. So if you wish to get a better grasp on the globalization of this world you must attend GPC.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    None that I can recall.

    Bang for the buck

I've made the best use of my money at this institution. I pay instate tuition and I don't think I could get this quality of education at a better price anywhere.

    What to do for fun

There are always student organized activities going on. An interest for anyone. I like to pop into a zumba dance class from time to time, its a great way to release stress in between classes.

    Food and Dining

The Dunwoody campus is equipped with a charming cafe. The menu is quiet simple but tasteful. The actual cafeteria offers a good variety of dishes, the cuisine ranges from Chinese to Mexican and they do have healthy options available. The prices aren't all that accessible, but its to be expected from a college cafeteria. For the most part one can find a good plate that satisfies both your taste buds and your wallet.

    Dorm Life

No dorms available in any of the campuses, unfortunately.

    Academic Rigor

This is a school equipped with intellectual professors who for the most part are genuinely passionate about their teaching fields. This should inspire you to think analytically and diligently. A's aren't handed to you, you must put forth the effort, but so long as you show a sincere interest in the class and commit to the work that is given to you, it should be a smooth ride.

    Tips for prospective students

I would recommend you go to GPC with an open mind and positive attitude. Most of my success I attribute to getting well along with others, involving myself in study groups and maintaining and amiable relationship with my professors. Know that there are people from all walks of life that like you have a hunger to succeed. You can confide in them for tips and advice ranging from what classes to take to which books to buy and at what cost. The library is there for a reason, don't fear it. If you don't understand a concept realize that its your responsibility to grasp it, and unless you ask for help the answer won't magically appear in your head.

    In three sentences

On a scale ranging from 1-10 I would undoubtably give GPC a 10. Simply and sincerely because they surpassed any and all possible expectations I ever held. Never have I felt more welcomed and tend to than I have at this institution.

    Campus Safety

Each campus does a superb job at keeping the students and staff safe. It is not uncommon to see police officers patrolling the area to make sure the school and everybody attending it is safe.

    Greek Life

    There is no Greek Life.

    Clubs and Activities

GPC does a great job encouraging their students to reach out to each other. Go on campus and ask the students there.

Great for these types of students

GPC is great for future nurses, accountants, dentists, engineers, film directors, musicians, and enviormentalists. It all depends on the campus you go to.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every once in a while, there is a bouncy castle.

    Bang for the buck

This is a great school overall. When it comes down to it, you pay for college to get your education, not to throw it away, so do not come to GPC and expect to rave all day long. Research websites like Galileo are paid for in the tuition, which is not even all too expensive. GPC definitely gives you bang for the buck.

    What to do for fun

Luckily, each campus is unique and has unique locations surrounding it. You and your friends can hang out there. When comes to on campus fun, do not get your hopes up. There are no drinking parties or anything as depicted by the movie Project X.

    Food and Dining

The food quality is based on which campus you go to. Assuming that all campuses have the same food quality as the Dunwoody campus, I can say that it is most enjoyable when you are starving. It is not the fact that the food is bad that I rate this with three stars, it is the price.

    Dorm Life

There is no dorm life, because there are no dorms. There are no dorms because this is a community college, not an overpriced frat boy, sorority girl infested 4 year university.

    Academic Rigor

Most classes here are not that tough unless you are an engineering major. With free tutoring and a plethora of free resources found at your campus, it is tough to fail as long as you try.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Unless you have the busiest life on the planet, do no get 3+ classes back to back on the same day. You will become tired and will soon regret it. 2. Unless you enjoy being broke, do not buy the books from the school at full price. 3. If you are looking for a job and have no experience, GPC can help you out with that. 4. Get to know the professors, since the classes at GPC are relatively small, you can get the one on one attention you may need. 5. Do not procrastinate on the assigned readings.

    In three sentences

Georgia Perimeter cares about the quality of education each respective student is getting. Although relatively small, they compensate the lack of quantity with quality. It's an overall great school. Also, it is one of the few research schools in Georgia.

GPC often has events going on in the courtyard and all around campus. Otherwise, you're more than welcome to spend your breaks sitting outside in the courtyard on the grass or at the picnic tables.

    Food and Dining

There's a small cafe in one of the two buildings. They offer sandwiches, pizza, salads, a variety of things. It's a cute, quaint walk-in. Also, there are snack options for purchase in the bookstore. There are also a bunch of vending machines around campus.

    Dorm Life

GPC does not offer dorm options. It is all off-campus living.

    Academic Rigor

How difficult it is to get a high GPA depends entirely on your professor as well as self-motivation. There is a free tutoring center with very flexible hours too, if anyone needs help.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you utilize grants and scholarships, because books and supplies can get to be ridiculously expensive, really quickly.

    In three sentences

The only issues I've come across at GPC are their lack of Financial Aid representatives, as well as in the Advising office. Also, the book store seems to up their prices every semester. Other than that, I've enjoyed my time at Perimeter.

    What to do for fun

I like to attend different events around the campus.

    Food and Dining

The food is good. I actually prefer eating at school than any fast food restaurant.

    Dorm Life

I'm not sure about the dorm life because I stayed off campus. I love my apartment, and the area that it's in.

    Academic Rigor

I always feel as if I'm being challenged by my professor, and the work given. It makes me apply myself more, and I'm glad because it's worth the money

    Tips for prospective students

I suggest that you do everything early. For instances early enrollment, early registration, etc

    In three sentences

I love Georgia Perimeter College. The campus is always nice, and clean. The teachers and staff are nice and professional.

    What to do for fun

There is not anything fun to do there. It's a community college. You go there to get school done.

    Food and Dining

The food selection and salads kind of suck but the food is pretty good. The fresh brownies are awesome!

    Dorm Life

I have never lived in a dorm at this school.

    Academic Rigor

Some professors expect a lot out of you. Some professors seem to think less of you because your in a community college. The academic rigor depends on the classes you take.

    Tips for prospective students

Ask your classmates for advice. I picked the best professor for an anatomy lab by talking to some people in my class. I know I'll get good professors next semester because of it too.

    In three sentences

I attend the Dunwoody Campus and I am taking prerequisites for a nursing program. They professors are all very helpful but I use ratemyprofessor.com to make sure I pick a good one. The problem I have run into is the equipment we use for labs. The cats are typically very fatty and the stethoscopes don't work well at all. The EKG machine is faulty. The professors are great but the equipment is kind of awful.

    Campus Safety

You will find that there are always security guards around campus. Some security officers even attend classes at GPC. I have even seen actual police officers (with squad cars) attend classes when they were just getting off duty. I'd say GPC is a pretty safe campus.

    Greek Life

Phi Theta Kappa - Honor Society of all 2-yr colleges. I joined them and it was well worth it. I received several scholarships from being an active member (my grades, GPA, and aptitude helped, of course) and leader in the Alpha Zeta Mu chapter.

    Clubs and Activities

As I said, there are always club activities going on at GPC. Sakura Festival, Japan Fest, Cultural Day, Stress Day, and many others. Just the few that I attended were awesome. There were prizes, food, and games at every event. Japan-Club even did a traditional Japanese dance at their festival!

Great for these types of students

International, inner-city, sticks, all socio-economic classes, and honors students.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The Gazebo on the lawn next to the pond is a nice retreat from campus bustling/hustling. There is a small trail on the opposite side of the pond from the campus that leads off into the woods, too. I also found a tiny little path that leads from GPC (near the parking decks) directly to the back yard of a house on the other side of the trees. I scared the owner pretty bad...sorry! (Pretty funny though!)

    Bang for the buck

If I had gone to any other college, I would have spent more and learned less. GPC is worth the money, that is, what little there is to pay.

    What to do for fun

There are always activities going on. GPC loves Jazz on the Lawn, Movies under the Stars, and club activities are nearly always going on all over the place.

    Food and Dining

The food is fantastic. The campus cafe serves everything from pancakes, eggs, and sausage in the morning to Chinese food, Jamaican beef pouches, burgers, and pizza in the afternoon.

    Dorm Life

There is no dorm-life at GPC, because there is no dorm.

    Academic Rigor

Personally, I found the coursework to be pretty easy. However, I tend to find that many people complain about how much they have to do. I suppose it all depends on your personal ability and willingness to do work.

    Tips for prospective students

Buy all your books on Amazon, make CERTAIN from your professor that you will actually NEED it for classes. Most of the classes will have plenty of opportunities to take notes and the books are just extra study material.

    In three sentences

Georgia Perimeter College (GPC) is diverse and dedicated to your education. This school has respected professors and a great set of degree coursework that is accepted at almost every single university across the nation. GPC strives for excellence and commits great resources to helping students get the most for their buck.

I've been there a year now and nothing's bad happened to me. I've also never heard of anyone getting hurt or robbed.

    Clubs and Activities

There are all types for clubs and activities for the students and staff. And we have 4 campuses so there is always something to do on almost every one!

Great for these types of students

This school is great for someone who wants to go back to school after they have been out for a while. It's great for a student putting themselves through school and looking for something affordable. And it's also great for people who, like me, want to go to college but isn't ready for the Big Campus feel.

    Bang for the buck

The classes are more than affordable, the only rip off is the books but what bookstore isn't?

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of clubs and organizations to join. They are always having workshops and things of that nature for students and it's free!

    Food and Dining

The food is okay, but it's a college campus so don't expect anything 5-Star.

    Dorm Life

    It's a two-year school so no dorms.

    Academic Rigor

I have done GREAT so far, even better than High school and I was a pretty good student. The classes are flexible and the teachers are helpful, there is no way you shouldn't pass if you really try.

    Tips for prospective students

I would tell students who are thinking of attending or about to attend that you need to try your hardest, pay attention and take advantage of the classes offered at such a low price. Rather you are just there and thinking about transferring or going there until you graduate, you won't regret it. Some teachers are good and really helpful. They care about your education and that can be hard to find in a Huge university.

    Great starter school.

I would say its pretty good value. Tuition is like $400 bucks for 3 hours and up to $1700 for 15 hours. If you are trying to get a degree it isnt near the value of a larger state or private school but its great for getting certain credits.

    What to do for fun

They have a pretty good baseball team

    Food and Dining

I would prefer to eat elsewhere but if you are crunched for time its not terrible.

    Dorm Life

No dorms available. You're on your own.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on the professor and depending on how hard you work it can be very easy to get an A. I would say it is the equivalent of a mediocre AP course.

    Tips for prospective students

Review the professors online at ratemyprofessors.com and KNOW THE DEADLINES FOR EVERYTHING. (i had to pay extra fees for not dropping a class in time)

    In three sentences

The class size can make you feel as though you are in high school. It is a very under rated school solely because people do not value community college education. I am apart of the honor society Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), and enjoy the educational perks associated with it.

    Bang for the buck

Absolutely more bang for the buck at about $99/ credit hour, it is a tremendous savings.

    What to do for fun

I enjoy their water aerobics and step class to de-stress and stay fit. There are movie nights, plays, game/card tournaments, etc.

    Food and Dining

It's ok. I prefer to bring my food due to costs, however, whenever I have needed to purchase food from there is was decent.

    Academic Rigor

I think that people believe that a community college isn't as challenging as any other college. I beg to differ. It is challenging, yet rewarding because you have learned something for life, not just to make it through the tests. Their Nursing program, is by far the best, and least expensive around. But they have at least a 97% NCLEX passing rate.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that you file your taxes in enough time to complete your FASFA. There may be delays, so ensure that you are always ahead of the game. Also take advantage of the half semester classes, especially if you would like to maximize your time and financial aid.

Georgia Perimeter College provides an excellent opportunity for those that are coming out of high school, returning to college, or older students changing careers. The unique opportunity for high school students to attend classes and possibly graduate from high school & college with an Associate's degree at the same time is phenomenal. For those that would like to keep their money in their pockets or strapped for cash, the classes are by far the cheapest per credit hour that you can find.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety i cant too much complain about. As long as i have attended the school i had yet to see anyone in danger and need any assistance. Although, i would say that the theft rate of other individual belongings is exceptionally average compared to other schools within the given or nearby area.

    Clubs and Activities

Just as any other college, GPC offers a wide select amount of different clubs for different individual interests and desires. Spare time activities are very benefiting for those who like to kill time in preparation for their next class or next event.

Great for these types of students

GPC is great for students that are looking for an education with flexibility. Many students there work full time jobs and attend there classess as well. Students that are short of transportation should certainly look into the bus and train routing system before attending this college.

Don't get me wrong, every school has its perks with their staff's but GPC isn't in that category. Most of the teachers and instructors are usually on time or their classes but they do often sometimes cancel classes unexpectingly which is a huge issue that i personally beleive should be taken more seriously as a leader of the class and as a staff itself.

    What to do for fun

Within the school, the social life is pretty well orientated. Diversity among individuals is pretty large so its often easy to meet new people. It is a very friendly enviorment for most people.

    Food and Dining

The food is absolutely great. Not too many things you can choose from but your options are always tasty. Food within the school area is also complimentable.

    Dorm Life

There is no dorm life. Apartments and different forms of housing is quite expensive because of the location of the school. Also, traffic is certainly a major issue.

    Academic Rigor

Cant really say too much of anything in this field

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should definetely look around more if they are serious abot a 2 yr. plus college committment. Be sure to have proper transportation because the bus system is very complicated. Lastly, keep belongings to yourself because theft is often occurred.

    In three sentences

Georgia Perimeter College is a very good school for short term goal people. Those who are interested in obtaining their associate degrees are in the right place. The teachers are sometimes undependable.

There no unusual traditions or locations on campus that I know about. But that doesn't mean there are non.

    What to do for fun

I read and listen to my music and audio books for fun. In light of my injury that placed me on permanent disability I can't do a lot of physically demanding tasks for fun. But I still like to attend sporting events despite my inability to participate.

    Food and Dining

All GPC campuses are not deserving of a one star. However, the campus I currently attend in Newton County truly deserves this 2 out of 5 star. Yes there is food to eat but the quality and variety of both the foods and snacks are nothing to stand in line and shout about. It's best to bring your own food and/or snack if you want to enjoy a decent meal.

    Dorm Life

The reason I gave this a one star is because there is no dorm life of which to speak. Nevertheless, this fact does not discourage students to behave in such a way that as not to feel like there wasn't one lol.

    Academic Rigor

The academic rigor is as tough as any college.

    Tips for prospective students

Colleges such as this particular one are unjustly labeled as a not real college. Class academics, student life, and other relevant areas that make going to college really worth the time and financial investment will not be wasted. Never be afraid to ask for help. The school offers FREE tutorial sessions in all major areas of study; Math, English, Science, etc. for all enrolled GPC students.

    In three sentences

This college has a small hometown feel with tons to do. Both teachers and staff remain knowledgeable, caring and friendly towards students on a consistent basis. If anyone remains hesitant to join a college for fear of being lost or overwhelmed by the massive class sizes many universities are known for then fear not, this school would be a great investment in ones education.

I would recommend GPC to start off your career by receiving and Associates degree.

Just remember to come ready to learn, also stay focused, don't be afraid to network, ask many questions, and build professional relationships with your advisors and professors.
