Categories Comments Great for these types of students Glendale Community College is a school for those who are either not ready for an university campus or rather just have some one on one time with teachers and not be treated as a number. I have had friends and family members attend GCC and all loved the campus and environment. Plus GCC is very affordable for those who can not pay for an university.
Tips for prospective students Glendale Community College is the way to go and there is something for everyone.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students seeking an associates degree or eventual transfer to a university, Students looking to save money!!!, and students seeking to get a comfortable feel of college life before attending a major university.
Tips for prospective students Try your hardest on the placement test. It's nothing too difficult however if you do place in honors criteria, you will receive a full-ride presidential scholarship as I did. You will need to keep up with the requirements such as a 3.25 GPA and 12 credit hours which include one honors class. As long as you study, be attentive, and do your homework it will not be difficult to keep!
Bang for the buck Glendale Community College is extremely affordable. They offer academic scholarships through high school placement, placement testing, and an honors program. Saving money is critically important, and going through community college either to achieve an associates degree or transfer to a university is the way to go! Glendale Community College is the school everyone should consider around the Maricopa County.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere overall is positive and pleasant. Professors are also fun and enjoyable through class. I found that it was very easy to be attentive in all of my classes and I never got bored. There are a lot of staff at the campuses that are more than willing to help new students with smiles.
Am learning a lot The professors at the Glendale Community College Main and North Campus are equally able to help students individually despite the major size differences. I attend both the main and north campuses and i get equal attention and help. There are many tutoring centers on campus that are easily accessible and many opportunities to meet with your professor.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Low budget Associate Degree hopefuls People wanting to get prereqs out of the way for the universities at a discounted price
Tips for prospective students If you are looking to try and save some money and get classes out of the way that are a requirement for a degree that you are interested in the this is the college for you. Instructors are extremely approachable and can be a lot of fun in class. Classes don't seem to be too rigorous and as long as you pay attention in class and have a little bit of study time each week you should be able to breeze right through it assuming you aren't taking something like organic chemistry. You will have good instructors that know the material and offer help if needed and make it fun in some of your classes.
Bang for the buck This college is extremely wallet friendly especially in comparison to the universities. If you don't think that this is a fair price then look at ASU or UofA and see what you think after that. This college is a great way to get a lot of your courses out of the way and is a great transition from high school to a university.
Did enjoy being here This college is enjoyable and friendly. You will meet a lot of new people and have fun with them as you build a relationship with them through your course. It also seems to be a very laid back environment where there is not too much pressure. You can definitely have a good time if you attempt to.
Did learn a lot I didn't really seem to be challenged too much in my time here. It almost seemed like I was learning a little bit more in depth information about the same topics as high school but this could have easily been condensed into maybe a maximum of a couple weeks. That was the case for most of the courses I enrolled in, however there was one where I learned some and that was my Computer Information Systems course and that is only because I had no prior knowledge of some of the programs, but the ones that I did know about I breezed right through without really learning much.

Categories Comments Am learning a lot Glendale Community College is one of our surrounding community colleges in Arizona since 1965. Last year, more than 32,000 students enrolled in a wide variety of degree and certificate programs; on their way to achieving personal goals. From learning a particular subject to earning a degree or certificate to preparing for a new career or transfer to a university, students are always working hard, making life happen. The main campus at GCC North locations offers classes and programs throughout the West valley. There are supportive faculty members and helpful student services. They are ready to provide each student with the knowledge, skills and support they will need to succeed in the college and the world beyond it. For the past year, it has been a great opportunity for me to go to school there (ACE Plus program).I am going to be so prepared when I transfer to a university. GCC is an excellent beginning college for anyone!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students anyone wanting to further their education without having the stress of attending a huge classroom.
Dorm Life i never stayed i a dorm there, so i wouldn't know.
Tips for prospective students don't waste your time or your instructors by going to class and not getting anything out of it.( trust me, it will be your biggest waste of time)
In three sentences gcc is very affordable and is basically made for curious students wanting to get a higher education. the atmosphere there is tranquil and very open for all students to explore. thanks to the ace plus program, i was able to attend this college for free!(gcc is full of opportunites.)

Categories Comments Campus Safety Public safety officers are always plentiful on campus and are a significant to the peace that G.C.C. enjoys.
Clubs and Activities Many clubs are available for practically every career choice to help students focus on achieving their goal of graduating.
Food and Dining G.C.C. has a cafe with fresh food, coffee, and even a game room to help student's relax.
Dorm Life G.C.C. does not offer dormitories and therefore I must rate this section only 1 star.
Academic Rigor Classes are academically demanding and as such they also offer an opportunity to learn a significant amount of relevant information specific to the class. Class success is based on a student's ability to focus and stay disciplined throughout the entire semester.
Tips for prospective students My three main tips for prospective students are the following: #1. Do not allow yourself to procrastinate. #2. Study in multiple sessions and not all at once. #3. Ask questions in class no matter how simple they may be because there's a good chance someone else has the same question.
In three sentences Glendale Community College is an exceptional college that offers many career choices for its students. The teachers are very knowledgeable and go the extra mile to help their students understand course materials and ultimately earn a passing grade. The school is filled with resources such a writing development center, a music building filled with pianos, and even a library with access to the hundreds of books and several computer stations to study on and about.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any student can succeed here, it is one of the largest two-years colleges in the country and offers most programs. The small class sizes and the colleges dedication to its students makes this college feel like home.
Tips for prospective students Get involved beyond class. GCC offers over 30 clubs and counting to students, and I think my participation in clubs has been the key to my success and development. Also, professors are required to have office hours, and I cannot stress enough how important is to use this time to talk with professors.
Bang for the buck The entire cost for tuition, fees, and books at GCC for the two-years I have been going there is just a little over the tuition alone for a semester at ASU, yet when I talk to my friends attending university they often complain about the quality of education. For the fraction of the price, I take the same courses with fewer students and more interaction with the professor.
Am enjoying being here In the Maricopa County Community College District, GCC is known for having the best student life, offering events and clubs for all interest. There are several development opportunities outside of the class and made available to the students.
Am learning a lot The professors at GCC are dedicated to teaching, I have to see a professor blow a student off or not make him-or-herself available for extra help if needed. Beyond just a willingness to teach, many of the professors are experts in their field and have research experience, so you're getting relevant knowledge on the subject.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Get involved with college clubs and hangout.
Food and Dining There is a wide variety of food to choose from ranging from breakfast lunch and dinner. It is over all good food.
Dorm Life There is no dorms for this school.
Academic Rigor Just like most colleges, there are all different type of professors. Not all professors are for every student based on their techniques.
Tips for prospective students Always be prepared from financial aid wise, classroom wise, and changes that may happen.
In three sentences I think it is an overall good school. It is a larger community college so there are more options and events going on. I rate it an overall great for students starting college or people who want to return to school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus security is good. Not too pushy or demanding, but enough to keep the students safe.
Great for these types of students Students who are trying to find what they want to do with their life. Students who didn't do too well in high school - there's always a 2nd chance!
Bang for the buck Classes are cheap and it is definitely money well spent!
What to do for fun Glendale is close to Phoenix and there is tons to do in Phoenix! Malls are close, water parks are a short drive, and with good weather all year long, who can complain?
Food and Dining On campus dining was good! Lots of restaurants nearby if not feeling the on campus cafe.
Dorm Life I don't even think GCC had dorms so I am not sure.
Academic Rigor For the fact that it's only a community college, the rigor of academics is quite substantial. The classes are thought-provoking and the classes transfer most anywhere.
Tips for prospective students Apply for the presidential scholarship. Ask your counselor or someone at GCC.
In three sentences Glendale Community is a great school that can immensely help their students to get on their feet. They have programs that can help a student to find what their passion is and what they should do with their life. GCC is a great school!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students For students who arent ready for the university or cant afforrd university tuition; Glendale Community College is a great college to enroll. They offer a variety of different types of classes, their science classes are very strong, they are the only community college that has their own science labs and experiments in the United States.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of the small classes and especially of your instructors; they work right with you so you could get your moneys worth. Do your homework and study for exams and you'll do great in every class.
Bang for the buck The pricing for tuition is fair, they offer finacial aid, and scholarships.
Did enjoy being here I enjoyed the campus it was pretty big for being a community college, the students are great, great diversity you'll meet alot of cool people. I joined a couple of clubs which made my college experience a lot better. Being at Glendale Community College gave me a little taste of the University life.
Did learn a lot I learned alot from Glendale Community College; what sets them apart from the University level is the one on one contact with your instructors because they are true professionals in their area.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any student who is unable to pay for university and just wants to start with basics this is a great college to start at! If you are not one for the university and you still want the college campus feel Glendale is the perfect choice because you have plenty of opportunities to meet new people, find activities to be apart of and so much more!
Tips for prospective students Any tips I could provide would be to sign up for classes as quickly as possible so that you cna get the courses you want and need. Take some time to explore the campus aside from classes because there is so much provided here. If you do not always have the best enviornment to study at home in they provide different computer labs and areas to sit and work on homework whenever you need it.
Bang for the buck My classes have taught me so much and I feel it was all worth the pretty penny paid for it. I woudl reccomened this campus to anyone because it is easy to navigate and easy to met new people. There are endless opportunities for an enjoyable experience here.
Did enjoy being here This is the nicest campus I have ever been on. There is lots of beautiful landscaping nad many places to eat and study between classes. It is well kept and very inviting.
Did learn a lot This was a great place with great professors! All of the professors I had throughout the 3 semesters I attended classes for my basics were the best! They were engaging and made class easy to be a part of.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students GCC is great for students who do not have the money to go a university, or are not yet ready to move out. GCC will provide you a great transition into a university, and I recommend it to anyone.
Tips for prospective students Take you education very seriously. The classes are not difficult if you do your homework and study. It is so easy to get distracted by work or other things, so I would suggest making a schedule so you can have allocated times to do your school work. School is always more fun when you are succeeding!
Bang for the buck GCC is very affordable, and with two locations, there is always a campus near home. However, you need to keep in consideration how much books will cost you each semester. If you can not afford the books, you need to create a schedule where you can spend time in the library to check out your textbooks.
Am enjoying being here I am currently taking classes at the north campus and it is BEAUTIFUL. Everything is brand new and the do a great job on keeping the school nice. Most of the students and professors are very friendly, so it makes coming to class very enjoyable.
Am learning a lot The class sizes are very small, which makes it easier to have a good relationship with your professors. Most professors come to class early and stay late, so you will always have an opportunity to meet with them privately if you have any questions. GCC also offers an awesome tutoring program that makes it easy to get help when it is convenient for you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -Adults returning to school. They offer day care and ALOT of flexibility. -New students coming out of highschool or from other countries. The school is simple and not as scary as university and VERY diverse! With tons of student activities. Even greek life.
Tips for prospective students Apply early. They offer alot of classes and they fill up quick. Though you can register and get into classes online, it's very good to meet with an enrolment adviser so that you don't end up in the wrong class. The advisors are all super helpful and they really wanna help you.
Bang for the buck Classes are affordable and they offer payment plans.
Am enjoying being here The security on campus keeps it feeling safe.
Am learning a lot The teachers of the gen eds are all very competent.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Those that enjoy as small campus with lots of options.
Tips for prospective students Enroll early!, do not wait until a couple of weeks before classes start to pick your teachers. Email your teachers in advance, let them know who you are and what you plan on benefiting from their classes. Befriend your teachers, this turns out to be a great life saver if you ever need a favor.
Bang for the buck The classes are cheap if you are instate, but the unfortunate recent increase in tuition is going to ultimately negatively affect the school more than it was meant to help because the out of state tuition is ridiculously high.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere is unique, but it lacks one thing, student initiative. Most students want to leave school as soon as possible and yet they at times blame the school or the teachers for their poor grades. Unless one takes advantage of the great resources that GCC has to offer, then one will truly succeed. For instance if you are struggling in chemistry, they have a chemistry guided aid group called the Chemistry Solutions, same goes for math, writing, economics, computer tech, etc.
Am learning a lot When it comes to learning it depends strictly on the initiative of the student. Myself, I used to hate mathematics but now I am a fan of the latter. The teachers here are willing to help you, that is if you put in work to search for the best teachers.

Tips for prospective students Make sure to get an idea where your classes are using the online map. also make sure to have all the needed books and equipment you may need.
Bang for the buck Being a community college its value is really great.
Am enjoying being here The students and faculty are very nice, and point new students any where they need to go, even though they have maps all over the school.
Am learning a lot The teachers at Glendale community college are greatly helpfull, and their tactics at teaching the students are amazing.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Glendale Community College is great for the students who want to excel in their lives. Nearly every student here holds strong to their dream of moving on to a university. As long as you have that dream, Glendale has every last little thing that you would ever need to improve your live. The only kind of student that will not do well here is the one that does not care about their education or future.
Tips for prospective students Don't be fooled, people seem to think that community colleges are like advanced high school. You need to be prepared to handle all that is going to come your way when you register for classes. It is only as hard as you make it though, take notes, read your text books, and set aside the time to actually study, and you'll be fine. Let yourself fall behind? Well, that is all on you, no one is going to baby sit you. You can learn a multitude of things at this school, but you will only take away from your classes as much as that you put into them.
Bang for the buck Another reason that I love this school is because of it's amazingly affordable classes. It is probably the truth that I would not be in school right now if it were not for community colleges, especially Glendale. But the fact that the prices are lower than most does not mean that the education value is lowered as well. In fact, I feel that this school should charge more for all that they give to their students.
Am enjoying being here I love this school because of the teachers as well as the students. Every person I have met so far has been no less than awesome. All the students vary from age to backgrounds, each with their own impressive personalities. The teachers are tough, but understanding of your needs. They expect nothing less than excellence from you, which may deter some people. But with as much as this school provides for you academically, excelling at all that you do just comes so naturally.
Am learning a lot I am learning much more than I ever thought I would at a community college. For reasons unbeknownst to me, there is a negative stigma tied to going to a community college. But I can say from personal experience that Glendale is a flagship school that sets the standards on education with it's wonderful staff, excellent academic programs, and the students who attend.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students All - except students that want the teachers to just give them the answers. Not here, Buddy.
Tips for prospective students If you need help, ask for it. No one can help you if they don't know you need it.
Bang for the buck I feel like I am definitely getting my money worth, education wise. It would be really irritating if I chose to pay to go to this school and wasn't learning well and couldn't get any help. I've been to schools where the teacher is only interested in presenting the information to you and making you figure out anything beyond the text. Very annoying, infuriating and detrimental to your grades. But here, if you need help, all you have to do is ask for it. The teachers actually want you to learn and really do they best they can to work with you. And it definitely shows in my grades!
Am enjoying being here I enjoy the atmosphere and the classes. It is surprisingly relaxing. It's usually pretty quiet. Of course, my classes are at night, so that might have something to do with it.
Am learning a lot I have learned so much in all of my classes! The teachers have all been really nice and helpful!

What to do for fun Lounge at the student union, join campus clubs and organizations, and attend school plays, musicals, and recitals.
Food and Dining The food and beverages available on campus are adequate.
Dorm Life Not applicable
Academic Rigor The academic environment tends to be less competitive, which is very advantageous because distress exists at lower levels, and you will get to compete with the person who matters the most for your career--yourself.
Tips for prospective students Qualify for the honors program. Not only will you receive a stipend per semester, but you will also be educated by dedicated professors among like-minded peers.
In three sentences GCC AZ has convinced me that community colleges are not so bad after all. Most slackers drop-out toward the mid-semester, so class sizes decrease, and discussions become more intellectually stimulating. The professors are dedicated and plenty of them have doctorate degrees.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i always see the campus safety building, as well as police officers and safety officers throughout the campus.
Clubs and Activities many to choose from.
Great for these types of students people who have lives outside of the typical college-age kid would fit in here great.
Bang for the buck community colleges are typically cheaper than universities, and i feel i got a great deal. all of my credits transfer to university as well.
Food and Dining there are typical restaurants near by.
Dorm Life i cannot comment on this, as i live in an apartment off campus.
Academic Rigor around mid-terms and finals the workload seems a little heavy, but a lot of that is studying. staying on top of weekly assignments is the key to not becoming overwhelmed.
Tips for prospective students if you're looking for a place where faculty / teachers / professors really care about your success, here is the place to be!

Categories Comments Campus Safety campus security is everywhere. they will walk you to your car at night, lock up your bike for you, and are always noticeable. they where blue shirts. there are also real police officers on campus that help as well.
Clubs and Activities there are various clubs on campus that are fun such as bowling, japanese, compass, teachers, black student union, premed, and many more.
Bang for the buck as far as tuition and the other fees college have, this is an affordable school. thee is no fee to park, food is reasonable, and cost to print is cheap. the bookstore is expensive but is expected because it is trying to make money. there is another book store directly across the street with cheaper prices. i buy and rent my textbooks online or use the books on reserve within the library.
What to do for fun there are racquetball and tennis court, track, swimming pool, baseball field, and football field. lastly, there is a game room within the students union. there are pool tables, tv's, and other games available for students waiting for there next class to start.
Food and Dining the student union has a cafeteria with various menu items. they have a grill, pizza station, a bar for deli sandwiches, soup station, and a bakery station, and a coffee station. the deli station has different menu items depending on the day. they usually come in combos. for example, one day they might have a mexican bar with the options of tacos, burritos, taco salads, or nachos. there is also a coffee shop within the student union and another coffee shop in the nursing building on campus. if the cafeteria does not sound appetizing, there are always fast food restaurants across the street.
Dorm Life this college does not have dorms and neither do any of the community college in maricopa.
Academic Rigor the academic rigor varies from class to class. the classes i took were prerequisites for the classes i will be taking once i attend arizona state university. the classes to some extent reminded me of my high school classes except for the english and math classes. the teacher expect all the students to be capable of reading college material, writing at college level, turning in assignments on time, attending all classes on time, no plagiarism, electronics are prohibited at anytime, no retakes on anything, and to ask for help when needed.
Tips for prospective students all students whether they are new high school graduates, parents taking night classes, or returning students, take a class entitles cpd 115. strategies to create success in college. this particular class shows methods for selecting and developing effective academic strategies, increasing self-awareness and developing self-management strategies. elements of college resources and relationships with others explored in support of students' educational experience.
In three sentences glendale community college is a great school for high school graduates not sure of what to major but know they want to attend college, returning students wanting a certification in a particular area, or a student longing to attend a university and transfer later. this school is also great for parents who desire to earn a degree but can only attend school during the evening. lastly, this school is great for students who believe they are not ready for the demands of a university such as time management and self motivation which are a must for any college.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities the clubs are small and do a lot! i've been most impressed with the athletics on campus. i have been able to be on the track and field team. which i though would be an impossibility in college.
Food and Dining there is a coffee shop and a cafeteria on campus with pretty good food. they are very popular and it's a great place to meet and talk to other students.
Dorm Life there are no dorms or housing at gcc.
Academic Rigor gcc has a variety of classes for all academic levels. i was an honors student and had a full schedule, which was pretty challenging.
Tips for prospective students don't be afraid to talk to the teachers! they are really understanding and helpful. some of my teachers have been able to help me out so much just by listening to my problems and giving me advice.

Tips for prospective students Don't think you can just glide along like most of us did in high school, even though it's a community college. You WILL have to study and do your work.
In three sentences Glendale Community College is a great school with helpful advisers and, for the most part, wonderful teachers. Admittedly, the North campus reminds me of being back in high school, which is both a good and bad thing. Overall, I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a community college.

Academic Rigor It is not easy to do the first assignments. College homework is not as easy as high school homework. Their is so much more reading and a lot of notes. As a student I have to keep track of my homework and the next due dates. It gets easier once you get used to the different routines.
Tips for prospective students Make an appointment with an adviser the summer before you enter college to get a better perspective of what your college experience will be like. They are more than happy to help. Talk to your teachers if there are any questions or concerns.
In three sentences Glendale Community College is a student friendly campus and the staff is friendly and very attentive. Their is a large diversity among students and helps me with my social skills. The teachers are willing to help students and encourage them to not give up on school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety campus safety is around but seems to be more for writing tickets than anything else
Great for these types of students great for students who work or need to attend classes at night
Food and Dining they just opened up a cafe that serves coffee but its quite expensive
Dorm Life there are no dorms
Tips for prospective students Since the advisers are not very helpful, if you are planning on transferring to a university i would meet with that university and find out what their requirements are prior to taking classes at GCC that way you're not taking classes that wont count and or transfer.
In three sentences GCC is very convenient for working students. Most of the teachers are good teachers, but as with every school it has its downfalls. The advisers are not very helpful either.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who were fond of high school life may find Glendale Community College similar to that. Classes are small and personal like in most high schools and that means the teachers are more available to help individuals on a need to need basis.
Bang for the buck Glendale Community College offers a wide range of courses and classes that are financially feasible for most students that cannot pay for more expensive educational campuses.
Food and Dining GCC's cafeteria is good but has a few items that are a little bit pricey. The actual dining area is great where there is much social interaction between students, but it never gets too distracting.
Academic Rigor Most classes at Glendale Community College are not too tough if you study. The key is studying. The more time you put into your homework assignments, the more likely you are to pass. Doing the little things like looking over notes or even doing a few extra problems on homework can go a long way on your test scores. In some cases, a class can become difficult for just you alone, but the free tutoring at Glendale Community College is very helpful in getting you passed your speed bumps.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you do not apply last minute. You will thank yourself when you are able to register for the classes you want and not be stuck in limbo on the waiting list to register for the class. Also take advantage of the free tutoring on campus. It may come in handy for more challenging courses.
In three sentences Glendale Community College is a great start to post-high school education. Its helpful atmosphere eases new students in with no hassle. Best of all, it is transfer friendly with many other Universities across the valley.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is on campus police officers. The great thing about this is, they are not security, they are actual police officers. It helps me feel a lot safer when I take my night classes.
What to do for fun There are things to do at Glendale Community College. Watch for the different activities, they are always posted and updated.
Food and Dining For food and dining, there are plenty of places on campus and off campus that are close and within walking distance.
Dorm Life I currently reside off campus.
Academic Rigor I knew getting into this course was going to be a long journey. Stay on top of your classes and stay on top of your career goal.
Tips for prospective students My tip for prospective students is, don't be afraid to ask the faculty for help and most important, don't be afraid to ask question on something you don't understand. The faculty is there to help.
In three sentences Since I have decided to go back to school, I really appreciate the effort that the faculty has provided to make sure my classes and student information is on track. It was intimidating going back to school after so many years, and Glendale Community College's staff has assisted in so many ways. I am extremely happy with the community college that I have chosen to start my career path.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus safety is a joke here, but nothing bad ever happens.

What to do for fun there are many groups with in the school that offer fun activities
Food and Dining they have great food inside the student center
Dorm Life there is no dorm life here
Tips for prospective students make sure you check to see what you need, from the university you want to go to.
In three sentences There are many people here that are going back to school, and they have kids my age. The classes are fairly easy going with laid back teachers. The student government likes to try to get students involved in activities at least once a month.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's always something happening on campus during the day or evening like festivals or different kinds of events like, plays and guest speakers.
What to do for fun The cafe/Student Union are good to hang out at with friends and have coffee and snacks. In the student Union there's also a little game/lounge room. Looks cool, but I've never been inside because it's always packed when I have a break.
Food and Dining There is a student Union near the front of the campus. The food is a little expensive for a college student on a budget, but there are some things that are lower in price. For example, if you only get a sandwich and not the combo you can save at least two bucks. The Student Union is very roomy and clean, can be loud at times when it's full of students, so it's not a good place to study and eat. There's a cafe inside the Student Union. The students who work in there are very nice and make your order quickly. Although again, the prices are very high for a starving student. However, I will say the coffee is delicious. It looks like they make up different flavors every week. There's also a Starbucks cafe in the semi-new Science building. It's very nice and clean. The students or non-students working back there are very nice as well and extremely helpful. Once I needed gloves for a science lab and they gave me enough for my whole class! The coffee is good of course, it's Starbucks, and the price is the same as any other Starbucks, too much for a student.
Dorm Life I don't think Glendale has dorms, but there are apartments across the street for student living and they are not the best looking apartments. I heard they are cheap, I've never looking into living there but of how they look (kind of dirty). Although, the apartments are in a very convenient place and it would take less than 5 minutes to get to the campus by walking across the street.
Academic Rigor Some classes are easy, some are hard. This isn't High School, but it's not a University, however, students should still expect to work hard for their grades. Students should be sure to check on how the professor teaches. Ask other students or search online for ratings to see if the professor is helpful and actually cares about the students. That's all you can really do to insure good grades, but still be prepared to study hard.
Tips for prospective students Take college seriously! Even though you may think this is just a community college because they sometimes have a bad reputation, it's still an amazing educational institute. The time you spend here learning and earning grades will dictate your future at a University or other college you plan to attend. Do not take unnecessary classes. Talk with advisers at the college and at Universities to insure you are taking the correct classes. Don't procrastinate with this because you will spend lots of money on the wrong classes and waste your time on subjects you don't need. Make time for studying and join study groups because they really do help. If you take early morning classes prepare for traffic in the parking lot. Some times I had to park my car in the park behind the school because there were no spaces open.
In three sentences Glendale Community College is a great school for students who aren't sure what they want to major in or don't have enough money to go to a University yet. Classes are easy to find and the campus is very clean. The campus also has lots of open space with tons of beautiful greenery and has a large diversity of students and helpful teachers.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are a lot of campus security guards riding around on carts, bikes or walking at all times of the day. There has never been a moment where I have felt unsafe.
Greek Life It is a community college, so there is no greek life.
Clubs and Activities There are plenty of clubs and activities to join on campus. The information is always posted around campus on fliers.
Great for these types of students It is great for students who want to get a 5 star education for 1/6 the price of a university. As well as students who want to get their pre-requisites out of the way before attending university. It is a very good transitioning school from high school to college.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There aren't very many traditions that I know of, but there are some cool places around campus such as the Life Science building which has a campus coffee shop in it and looks very modern and is more high tech than some of the other buildings.
Bang for the buck I went to a university for one year and I have to say, I am getting the same grade of education -amazing professors, classes and activities- as I did there for almost a sixth of the price!
What to do for fun There are a plethora of clubs and organizations that you can get involved in fairly easily, as well as sports and campus activities (which you will find out about in some classes or from fliers around the campus).
Food and Dining The student union has a few different food choices, as well as a coffee shop (there are a few others on campus as well); though I do not typically eat the food on campus, so I am giving it 4 stars because there is plenty of food options immediately surrounding the school as well.
Dorm Life It is a community college, so there are no dorms; but, there are plenty of apartments and houses immediately surrounding the school.
Academic Rigor The professors are very serious about what they are teaching, but they are also extremely helpful and always available to help. Most are flexible when it comes to attendance, but not when it comes to performance.
Tips for prospective students Enroll as soon as you can because everything runs much more smoothly, and the counselors have more time to help you with everything that you need without you feeling rushed. Read rate my professor reviews if you are unsure because they are all fairly unbiased and true. Get a map and go figure out where the buildings your classes are going to be in are because it will make everything so much easier on your first day!
In three sentences The school has an amazing variety of accredited, extremely knowledgeable professors. The class sizes are on the small side -my largest class has 28 students in it. The campus is pretty and has plenty of places and opportunities to get help and study.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The security officers are all over the place. Its really beneficial if you have night classes because the campus is kind of spooky in the dark.
Clubs and Activities THERE ARE TONS OF CLUBS ON CAMPUS!!
Great for these types of students This college is great for students who aren't quite sure what direction they want to study in. The school offers a variety of different classes.
Bang for the buck If your eating on campus stick with value food! Its cheap and it tastes good everything else is highly overpriced!
What to do for fun There is always seems to be an activity going on! You just have to head over to the student union
Food and Dining The Cafe always has great food! The food on campus is a little pricey though, and the student union also has a great coffee stand!
Dorm Life We don't have dorms!
Academic Rigor The Academic Rigor really depends on the course you take. Some Professors accept late work, while other do not.
Tips for prospective students Register for class early they fill up really fast! Also, if your struggling with your class talk to your teacher they will be more then willing to help and tutoring is free on campus.
In three sentences Glendale Community College is a greater junior college to attend. The class are relatively small and the professors are able to give you a lot of one on one time. The students there are also really friendly, it is easy to make friends!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students From my experience we have great programs for astronomy, geology, geography, and english. I've heard really good things about the criminal justice program as well.
Bang for the buck The astronomy and geology programs here are great, but the chemistry department is a little disappointing.
What to do for fun Library has some really comfortable seats for reading and the computers are usually always available to browse the web.
Food and Dining Cheba Hut, Pizza Patron, Jack in the Box, Panda Express, McDonald's all in walking distance.
Dorm Life Nice apartments across the street, but no dorms.
Tips for prospective students Register for classes early because the best teachers always fill up fast. Show up a little early the first few weeks because the parking lot is usually a disaster.
In three sentences The campus is really nice and not too big, so it is easy to navigate. The teachers are amazing and they really care about their students. I would recommend this school to anyone looking to attend.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I've never seen a fight break out on campus and I feel pretty secure when I attend school. You usually see security officers patrolling the campus often so if the security of the college is an issue for you they can be a pretty comforting sight. They seem fair in their dealings as well and I haven't heard any bad news regarding campus safety.
Bang for the buck Like I said wait until you've attended your first day of class to purchase materials. The book store on campus will have a bit of a hefty price for books due to availability so if you think you have a bit of leeway concerning time try purchasing books off of amazon or half.com. Food prices are decent and they give you good portions.
What to do for fun You can generally just socialize with friends during your break between classes, join a club, or explore the area around the school.
Food and Dining The food here is pretty good and relatively fair concerning price range. Personally I try to eat at the school sometimes since I enjoy their food but will go to the eateries established around the school to conserve cash.
Dorm Life There are no dorms here.
Academic Rigor The schools pretty laid back and professors are reasonable concerning issues that may arise during the semester. If you have a problem or have a legitimate excuse for missing an assignment deadline the professors are usually pretty fair. It also depends on which professor you get. I've had an enjoyable experience with all of mine so far and have no complaints.
Tips for prospective students Don't purchase required material until you actually attend the first day of your class. This can save you much needed money since some classes do not rely heavily on the prescribed books. You can easily survive some classes with lecture notes alone if you make sure to pay close attention and can keep up with the pace of the professor. Your first semester is your experimental phase and will be difficult due to the new found freedom given to you. Make sure to keep your grades as your top priority and don't let this new-found freedom sweep you off your feet. The professors I've had have generally been pretty laid back so you can be yourself around them but always show them respect and let them achieve their objective for the day.
In three sentences GCC is a good starting point for those who need to adapt to the drastic changes that take place in the transition stage from high school to college. The campus is overall very warm and inviting although complications can arise at times. Nevertheless most problems are solved by competent staff and diligent students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Glendale P.D. roams around the campus 24/7, and is quick to respond if any incident occurs. In addition, weapons (of any kind) are not allowed on campus; almost every student abides by this policy. It is a very safe educational environment.
Clubs and Activities If you want to join a club, whatever it might be, GCC probably has it.
Great for these types of students Glendale Community College offers one of the best arts and liberal arts colleges in the Valley of the Sun, and is renowned for its ability to build and shape university transfer students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus While there are no real unusual traditions on campus, many Music Majors tend to use lecture hall pianos for class performances to rehearse for ensembles.
Bang for the buck At Glendale Community College, you will earn your degree, and at a fair price. With classes costing just $725 each, it is an extremely inexpensive way to attain an Associates Degree, or to complete undergraduate credit requirements.
What to do for fun Contrary to popular belief, Phoenix is not an amusement park city. As such, the common entertainment around campus is movie theaters, parks, mountain hiking, shopping, and museums. At GCC, there are music ensembles, plays, and several other artistically-inclined events as well as public debates and speeches.
Food and Dining Though driving is a necessity in Phoenix (and its vicinity), Glendale boasts one of the most diverse arrays of dining and marketplaces in all of the Valley of the Sun. Whether you like American, Italian, Japanese, Thai, etc., Glendale has something for you.
Dorm Life Though dorms are highly disregarded in this environment, local housing is safe, affordable and (generally) clean.
Academic Rigor While not as challenging as some universities, Glendale Community College holds its own in making students earn their degrees.
Tips for prospective students While community college may seem a bit daunting and underwhelming, the professors at GCC do challenge you. In addition, with flexibility in credit hours and prices, if necessary, you can have a job and go to school with little to no worry about whether your professors will work with you. This school just works, and it is a great starting point for any academic.
In three sentences Glendale Community College is a center for driven students who wish to receive a quality, university education at a community college price-tag. Professors and staff are knowledgeable, polite, and understanding, and will work with you to solve almost any problem you have. Plus, the campus is gorgeous, boasting rows of palm trees and decorative gathering places.

Categories Comments What to do for fun At the college: clubs and sports.
Food and Dining Food's pretty good. Main campus is always packed in the cafe/lounge area. North is pretty laid back over there, not many people.
Dorm Life No dorms at a community college.
Academic Rigor Depending on what classes you take. Some are easy and some are super hard. And some may sound easy, but have a lot of work to do in them,
Tips for prospective students DO NOT always take the super easy professors you read about on ratemyprofessors website! If you're going to be taking, for example; many math classes.. take a more challenging prof so info sticks with you and you're not sliding on by and you won't be overwhelmed when you take higher math.
In three sentences You hear a lot about community colleges and many people bag on them, but GCC is pretty nice! I mostly attend the North campus. Classes are small and I really like that.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck I believe out of all the schools I talked to when I was searching for my parent school GCC had the most knowledgeable staff around. Without them I don't think I would have known what I needed to do to sign up for classes or even where to begin. I appreciate everything they did for me.
What to do for fun There are a multitude of things to do for fun, there is an open gym, pool, and track that can regularly be used by students as well as plenty of other academic and nonacademic clubs that can be joined.
Food and Dining Centrally located dining facilities are on campus and provide a much needed resting/break area for all students.
Dorm Life I do not live in the forms as my family is in AZ and I am able to stay with them, thankfully.
Academic Rigor Professors are more than willing to assist student in become as smart as they can but don't expect them to sit right down beside you and them give you the answers. They are there to assist you in finding the answers yourself, not just handing them over to you on a silver player.
Tips for prospective students If you are not a veteran or active duty military member I highly suggest enrolling on campus and the signing up for your classes online. It eliminates the need for waiting in line on campus and helps you to become familiar with the online systems put in place to assist you.
In three sentences Very veteran and military accessible with a knowledgeable Veterans Assistant Office to make enrollment quick and easy. Multiple campuses to help cut travel distances down depending on where you are located. Easy to use online system that makes logging in and figuring out what is needed of you for the school semester a snap.
