Categories Comments Great for these types of students GCC is great for any type of students. They have many exciting science classes for people who are interested in a science major. They have music and art classes for the artistic people. They pretty much have everything for anyone's style.
Tips for prospective students Everyone who is considering a community college, whether it's for tranferring or to get a degree, should definetly consider GCC. You will learn a lot and you will be ready for anything the future throws at you.
Bang for the buck The classes are very inexpensive and definetly worth it. You get so much quality for such a low price.
Am enjoying being here It is a very good campus with places to sit and rooms to study in. The library has cubicles for students to study in private. The campus is just overall beautiful and friendly.
Am learning a lot The teachers at this school are amazing. They honestly care a lot about their student's education and prepare them for their futures.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Glendale Community College is a great school to go to if you need a school that doesn't cost too much. It is great to attend if you live in the area and are unable to drive yet as well. The counselors are pretty helpful so I'd recommend attending here if you want to go to school for a cheaper tuition while you try to transfer to another school.
Tips for prospective students Any student that attends Glendale Community College should complete their financial aid forms as soon as possible. A lot of people wait until the last minute to complete these forms so there are always long lines during the summer and fall class sessions. I'd also recommend completing your registration as soon as possible so you will be placed under priority registration when trying to get all your classes. And if you have a car, get the parking permit. They are a little expensive, but they are worth it if you have to spend a lot of time at school.
Bang for the buck This is a great college to attend if you are in need of help financially. The tuition for classes is about $26 dollars per unit. This has helped me save a lot of money as I pay for my general education classes in order to transfer to another school. Just make sure you fill out both the FAFSA and BOG in time so you can receive your financial aid on time rather than the end of the semester.
Am enjoying being here The campus is well kept and the plaza, Plaza Vaquero, is green with well kept grass and trees. There are plenty of tables to sit at outside, a two floor library, and two levels to the cafeteria for people to relax with friends or study quietly. I really enjoy being able to walk across campus in about 5 minutes. My only issue with the school is that smoking is permitted so I would recommend doing your best to avoid the smoking sections of the school if you are a non-smoker.
Am learning a lot Glendale Community College has some wonderful faculty. The teachers are hard working despite major cut backs at the college. No matter what, the teachers encourage you to push beyond what you normally do with your learning abilities to go outside of your comfort zone. I've learned how to communicate more effectively with fellow students as well as I've become more open to asking questions and requesting tutoring from my teachers. I'd definitely take advantage of their tutoring opportunities because they are very helpful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety gpd is infamous for certain things but few, if any, serious crimes have happened at gcc.
Clubs and Activities lots of variety and it is easy to start a club on campus.
Bang for the buck though tuition keeps rising, still a great deal for students everywhere!
What to do for fun campus clubs offer students the chance to meet other likeminded peers and put together events or lectures for the whole college.
Food and Dining cafeterias offer ample food for a cheap price and lots of dining options nearby (just across the street).
Dorm Life none yet. commuter school, no official campus dorms offered.
Academic Rigor comparable to uc/csu/etc courses - sometimes even more difficult because of the smaller class sizes.
Tips for prospective students you will get what you put into it - take advantage! gcc is one of the best junior colleges in the state because it has great classes, has a beautiful campus and always commits to maintain its resources for students first and foremost.
In three sentences incredible because of astute professors who encourage you to think critically beyond the generalities of a course - these lessons stay in your mind long after class is over. incredible because of the opportunities it offers students from all walks of life to figure out what they want to do, how to do it and where they will go to do it. incredible because of how it offers room for students to explore and pursue their interests through the broad range of services offered to aid them.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus overall is very safe because nothing bad ever happens in glendale.
Greek Life there's something along a scholars program that requires a gpa of 3.0 but i don't know much about it.
Clubs and Activities there are a lot of clubs on campus and everyone is really active in those clubs. the mini food fairs are my favorite.
Great for these types of students if you want to save some money getting your general education done, then there is a great place for you because it turns out to be a lot cheaper.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus they throw a welcome back to school barbeque every semester and the food is free! all of the clubs host events or sell some type of traditional food now and then and i must admit, its pretty bomb. it's like being in a melting pot of different traditions and having everyone embrace them all.
Bang for the buck though tuition has been going up per units, gcc still finds ways to accommodate to your situation via bog's, eops or fafsa, they also apparently have a system where you can pay monthly.
What to do for fun you can always join dance classes, they teach you things from discipline to really understanding who you are and representing it with movement. every semester the dance production throws a student show for free. you can also join a team like football or basketball.
Food and Dining if you're starving, then you'll eat what they sell, but if you want something tasty then there is always food choices across the street which are pretty good. there is a coffee bean to get your caffeine fix, flame broiler, pizza, quizno's and a mediterranean place that sells crepes, tacos and hamburgers alongside with its regular dishes.
Dorm Life there are no dorms.
Academic Rigor you know, it really depends on your major and what you want to become, if its nursing or any of the biology courses then get ready to apply yourself for days on end because gcc is known for some of the hardest biology courses out there. math is horrible, it's almost impossible to pass.
Tips for prospective students if you're going to see a counselor about your stay at the school, then make sure that you see a transfer counselor versus whatever else they offer because the transfer counselors help a lot more and invest time in you.
In three sentences the campus is very clean and small, there is a lot of greenery and there is even a little water fountain in the middle of the inside of the campus. the majority of the students are armenian and ages vary from high school students to late adulthood. the student body is very friendly.

Great for these types of students For any student looking for a great quiet school outside the city that gives you the opportunity to transfer easily.

What to do for fun The galleria or the Americana shopping center is fun. Also at night you have downtown la about 15 min away to go clubing or bar hoping.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a campus police office located in the center of the campus. Glendale is a nice area. Just make sure to park close to campus when using the parking pass. The parking lot in the park doesn't receive as much patrolling as the other lots.
Clubs and Activities There's a wide variety of clubs ranging from dance to environmental to the most random thing you can think of. Just find out at the Student Center!
Food and Dining I like the breakfast foods. The upstairs dining area serves burgers, salads, and soup. The downstairs dining area serves sandwiches and pizza. There's a food court outside the campus in the front entrance, so don't worry. There's a Quizno's, Coffee Bean, Flame Broilers, and more.
Academic Rigor This is dependent on the teacher you get. Some professors are harder than others, but in general you will have to work for it.
Tips for prospective students See a counselor ASAP to get started on the right foot. My mistake was I took classes based on course requirements without knowing when they are offered. A counselor should know best when to take which classes.
In three sentences Glendale Community College has a great art department. Tutoring services are available for math and science classes as well as English. I have had an overall good experience with social sciences teachers.

Food and Dining Good cafeteria, and snack store has copious amounts of snacks and beverages to chose from, my favorite part of the school ! The staff is very nice and kind, makes me smile every time I go in.
Dorm Life No dorms at Glendale Community College
Academic Rigor Of coarse, this is not an easy school, you must earn your grade and put lots of effort to get an A, other wise there would be no point in school if you cannot learn. Put in the time to study, take good notes, and stay organized no matter what!
Tips for prospective students Go to the workshops and seminars that take place on campus to learn things you would never know from friends or employers. Get appointments with a career counselor to get guided in the right track. Join clubs to be active in life and apply for volunteer work and scholarships. And most importantly, no matter if it is payed or not, get an internship somewhere, it will do you wonders once you apply for jobs in future. I got an internship at the Social Security Administration of Glendale because of Glendale Community College's job postings in the career center building! No matter if its payed or not, take the opportunity when it knocks!
In three sentences GCC has a great variety of classes and great teachers. The campus is amazing and has many departments for students to get ahead in their of success since they have a career center, counseling, scholarship and internship offices as well as a office for students to volunteer in organizations. The list of clubs are incredibly diverse and very active in the campus at school. The library is amazing with lots of computers, desks, study rooms, copy machines and resources to help students do their best.

Clubs and Activities There are plenty in the college, you can even start your own!
Great for these types of students People who want to work hard to transfer to an university.
Bang for the buck Like i said, it's an awesome school.
What to do for fun This is where it goes down. There's really not much to do around the area, but since most of your life will be given at the college, it's better if you start there...
Food and Dining Foods Ok, but there isn't much choice if you need something quick to attend the college. Whats right across is a place called flame broiler. Best food ever, i swear I'm addicted to that place! pretty healthy, even thug a couple of blocks theres a subway as well.
Dorm Life Theres no dorms for this college, but if you plan to live near the area, expect to pay a hefty bill. It IS glendale.
Academic Rigor Just like the old saying goes what you put in in is what you get out of it. But one thing for sure, teachers are more understanding here, especially if you are a working student.
Tips for prospective students Above all, go to the transfer center and talk to Kevin Mendoza with whatever plan you need in life, even if it means telling him college might not be for you. He'll help you out, help you decide what you want to do with your life.
