Categories Comments Great for these types of students Harper is great for all students young and old. There are programs that help adults, returning to school years later, get back on track and comply with their busy schedules. It's a great transitional school for graduating high school seniors who aren't sure they are ready to leave home for a big university. And it's great for students who want to save some money. Harper offers a variety of clubs and sports, there are activities and productions taking place around the campus all throughout the year, and because of the welcoming atmosphere, it's easy for all students to fit comfortably in the Harper environment.
Bang for the buck Those who attend Harper College recieve the same education one would at a 4-year university, the only difference is the price. I've gone for three semesters and have yet to pay the amount one would for a single year at a big university. Those who choose to go to Harper will: pay significantly less while still recieving a university-level education, have smaller class sizes for more one-on-one time, & be able to use top of the line technology.
Am enjoying being here Coming from a rural town to a big suburb where Harper is located was a bit intimidating for me. I applied knowing that I would not be seeing familiar faces on a daily basis. I'm now going into my fourth semester and couldn't be happier with my decision to attend Harper. I can't help but constantly talk about how much I enjoy my time at the school. The campus is aesthetically pleasing, it's obvious that the school representatives take pride in their establishment. Each classroom is equipped with top of the line technology which makes the learning experience more enjoyable. There are people throughout the school that are genuinely there for you and want to see you do well even after you leave Harper.
Am learning a lot I can honestly say I have never been at a school where the teachers care so much about their students. My professors have always made themselves available for out of classroom assistance and are willing to go over tricky topics if you find yourself struggling. I love that the educators are flexible and willing to talk about ideas that are current to society and yet are still able to tie them together with the material of the class. Harper allows you to learn and grow simultaneously.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students friendly, artsy, outgoing, athletic, ambitious, or still pondering on a major
Tips for prospective students register early so your able to make the schuedele you want!
Bang for the buck If you want to save a ton of money, and get a great education harper is ranked one of the best community colleges, if like me you fall in love with the school but dont live in the district, many people dont know that you can also work in the district part time and still get the discount which is pretty amazing!
Am enjoying being here Im trying to get into advertising and im taking my gen eds at harper, what truely got my attention was the design Harper has amazing Architeture and a garden in the middle of all their buildings. Which in the summer is filled with amazing flowers and green grass and has water fountians, and ponds. The atmposhere is unique. As well at the instructors are able to be flexible with their learning techinques, and aid in any subject is avaiable , I was relieved to find out they had a math help lab and 4 current teachers at harper were always their aiding students.
Am learning a lot We all know that how you manage your time and your resources is very important to what you get out of everything in life, but i can honestly say that this college provides you with all the necessary tools for success. Harper has computers available everywhere, almost every building has at least 40 to 20 computers to any students accessability, as well as teachers that are amazing at updating the blackboard system , and are able to maintain amazing communication with thier students in person and through email. Harper is a fairly new community college that flourishes on new technology and, ways of education. Many of the teachers still teach in the field they study, like my psychology teacher and are willing to sit down with their students and talk about the field. I can honestly say that theres so much updated information and willing people to give it to you and aid you.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any-- Honestly unless you have a problem with saving money or not living in a dorm, then this is not the place for you.
Tips for prospective students If you do not know what you want to do or where you want to go, why waste thousands going away to some college when you can take another year or two to decide where you want to earn your degree. Harper is a fabulous choice, but you need to work. The class sizes are smaller so teachers will, more often than not, mark attendance as at least 15% of your grade. The cafeteria has fabulous burgers and you would be insane not to take advantage of the $3 deal.
Bang for the buck This school is $90 a credit hour if you are in district. The starter education is worth it.
Am enjoying being here The people are a community. No cliques exist, which eliminate stereotypes and discrimination. I met many new friends as well as my boyfriend here. It's not the biggest school but it's big enough so if you want to fly under the radar you can.
Am learning a lot The professors are very knowledgeable about their subjects and I haven't had a problem so far contacting any of them. The professor will teach the class as opposed to a teacher's assistant and will demonstrate a desire to actually teach and accommodate the students learning abilities appropriately.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Whether you are a student that has their entire life planned out or you have no idea what you want to do with your life, Harper is for you. Since there are tons of general education classes available, a student can take a wide variety to get a feel for every area of study. Even if after a year that student still doesn't know what they want to do, they will at least have gotten required classes out of the way and at an affordable price. For students who know exactly where they want to be, there are some specifically designed classes that have a more narrow focus on a certain subject. This way, general education classes can be taken while taking other classes for a specific interest. Harper is a great school for everyone!
Tips for prospective students Get involved. A lot of Harper students go to class, then go home immediately after. One day, when you have extra time, walk around campus and TRY to get lost. You may find a part of the campus that you really like and want to go to more often. Maybe you will find a nice, quiet hangout place to do homework. Check out the website and find a few clubs you think you would be interested in. Call the club advisors, and have them send you more information about their club and what they do. You may find one that you become really passionate about like I did with Environmental Club, or you could find even more you like. The fact is, if you get involved on campus, you will get a much more enjoyable experience out of Harper than if you just go to class and go right home.
Bang for the buck No matter what anyone says, getting an education at Harper is just as valuable as an education at a university. The classes are the exact same level, and the same teaching. The only difference is that we are paying thousands less! Even though there is no on-campus housing, I still feel as if I have had a great college experience there just roaming around campus, discovering new places to get involved or just hang out. You still have to take care of yourself whether you go to a university or a community college. You have to get yourself there, sign up for your own classes, go to class, get good grades, and get help on your own. No one has held my hand going through my first two years; I have had to take care of myself. Harper is one of the top community colleges in the country, which is why we have such high enrollment. It is worth it to live at home. The thousands saved can make a huge difference.
Am enjoying being here I love Harper. Since my first day, I have felt so comfortable here. The campus buildings are very close together, and the campus itself it simply gorgeous. The Quad is a relaxing place to hang out in warm weather and just enjoy being outside between classes. I have made so many friends here, and these friendships are the type that will last forever. I have been in Environmental Club every semester, and just getting involved in one club has made such a difference. I am very involved in the club, trying to improve our campus' green initiative, and just having an all-around great time learning about the environment around us. Clubs, the fitness center, sports teams, and even the cafeteria are all great and comfortable places to meet new people and just get to know how great Harper is. I have always felt welcome here, as I know anyone else would.
Am learning a lot I have had a lot of classes here at Harper where I have gotten great teaching from very valuable teachers. Most of the teachers are very devoted to their work and are available for students when they need help. It is hard when there are so many students at Harper, but these teachers are dedicated to their students' success and future. I have had some teachers that are not as great at teaching as some of the others, but they are still very caring and consider the students' futures as a high priority.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This college is perfect for students who doesn't have enough money to go to a university, and wanting to receive the same education level. Take advantage of the resources without spending more than you can afford.
Tips for prospective students If you know which college you want to attend in the future, know what is transferable. If not don't worry about it since you have to finish your gen ed classes anyway. Eventually you'll know where to go. Also if you don't understand something always ask questions. The teachers are there wanting to help the students. And competition between students are not strong so if you are focused and willing to learn you will earn that A.
Bang for the buck This is probably one of the best deals you could find for tuition price. Especially if you are taking the same exact gen ed courses at different universities, why pay more. You could literally save thousands of dollars by going to Harper college, and learn the same materials. People take advantage of Harper all the time. Some students will end up coming to Harper realizing that the university they went to was not for them or simply because it was too expensive.
Am enjoying being here I love the campus here. Of course you can't experience the dorm life and all the other good stuff, but the campus here is really nice. I like the environment and the diversity at this campus. I believe that this a great place to start off your college life. Not too intense like the universities, but at the same time different from the high school life. It's easy for me to get around the buildings and the teachers here are always willing to help. Overall I'm glad I chose Harper college.
Am learning a lot Academic level is defenitely higher than people would think. You will pretty much learn the same thing as you would in any other places. For the price I'm paying I believe I am getting my money's worth. The teachers are nice and helpful, and the school environment makes it easier to study/learn. It's not as competitive as universities so, obviously you need to have the willingness to learn. If you have the willingness then you will succeed for sure

Categories Comments Campus Safety the school as their own police force (harper police) which as several foot officers that walk around campus to make sure nothing is wrong. there are also officers on bikes and in vehicles that monitor the campus just to keep an eye on everyone making sure nothing bad is happening.
What to do for fun harper college does have sports and clubs that you can participate in. there are also events that the college host year round, like a harper idol which you can participate if you like.
Food and Dining there are no meal plans if you attend harper. there are several cafe's throughout the entire campus which offer a variety of food and decent prices. if you like, you can bring your own food and eat it any where.
Dorm Life there are no dorms here at this college. you will either be living at home or an apartment. for me it only takes 20 min to get to the campus.
Academic Rigor harper college does offer higher level courses like physics, calculus, etc. as long as you are attending classes, and studying hard, you should do just fine.
Tips for prospective students study very hard and put a lot of effort into your studies. the grades you receive from this college (or any community college) is what universities are going to be looking at when you are going to transfer.
In three sentences harper college is one of the best community colleges you can attend. if you aren't sure what you want to major in, this is a good school to get your general education requirements before you transfer over to another university. this is my second year of attending harper college, and i'm glad that i came to this school.

Categories Comments Greek Life phi theta kappa honor society, but no real greek life is offered.
Clubs and Activities i'm not involved in any but if that's what you're looking for, they are definitely available.
Great for these types of students - those who can't afford paying for a 4 year university right away - those who wish to stay close to home - those only seeking an associate's degree - those looking to earn some general ed credit before they transfer
Bang for the buck definitely worth it for those looking to save a huge amount of money.
What to do for fun join a club, participate in school activities, not much else.
Food and Dining the dining hall actually has really good food, but rather expensive. there are also vending machines all throughout the buildings.
Dorm Life there are no dorms at harper since it's only a community college.
Academic Rigor academic workload is bearable, depending on how many classes you take. sometimes it's a lot of howework but definitely manageable.
Tips for prospective students make sure all the classes you take will forsure transfer over to the school you'll be transferring to.
In three sentences smart way to save money. good for those unsure of their future academic plans. good for students not ready to leave for a 4 year institution.

Bang for the buck classes at harper are much cheaper then most 4-year universitys.
Food and Dining harper has multiple cafes' and vending machines. it also has some restraunts nearby.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Harper is a very safe college due to the fact that they have a police squad on campus all day long. Whether their walking, driving or even bicycling; there is always someone there to help you.
Bang for the buck one word; affordable :)
What to do for fun Harper offers over 30 student organizations so there is a very high chance of you finding something that you are interested in, but if you don't find anything that interests you, you could just start your own club that is as easy as 1,2,3. Harper also has a bunch of sports and intramural sports that you could join as well.
Food and Dining The food at Harper is really good from what I have had there so far. I usually go for a nice sandwich with lots of Italian lunch meat and chips which always hits the spot.
Dorm Life Harper college doesn't offer dorms due to the fact that it is only a 2 year college.
Academic Rigor I would say that for the most part, the classes at Harper could be easily compared to classes at other universities and the academic rigor would be almost exactly the same. Just because Harper is a community college doesn't make it a good school, it actually makes it a great school having some of the best professors teaching the subjects that they know and love the most.
Tips for prospective students Focus on your studies and really enjoy going to school by getting involved in some of the 30 student organizations that Harper has to offer all of their students. Getting involved is a great way to meet new people and to really get the full experience out of your 2 years at Harper.
In three sentences Harper college is an amazing college due to the fact that it has that real campus feeling that most community colleges don't have. It is also affordable which is a huge plus because you get the opportunity to get a great education without breaking the bank. Harper College also has such a welcoming feel, and even though most people think that community colleges are so small and feel like mini high schools, Harper college would prove them wrong with having about 24 buildings on campus suiting everyone's needs and giving you a great education.

Great for these types of students Great for any kind of person to attend, no matter what age.
Bang for the buck Excellent way to save your money when it comes to tuition price! Compared to friends who all went away to colleges and universities, I've saved more than half of what they had to pay for the year.
What to do for fun Sports are always available to anyone who would like to participate. Also there are numerous amounts of clubs that at least one would interest anyone.
Food and Dining Variety of food is always available in the main cafeteria. There is also multiple cafes with great snacks. There are also many restaurants around the area as well outside of campus, especially with Woodfield mall being 10 minutes away.
Dorm Life Great location for a Chicago suburb.
Academic Rigor Teachers really know what they are doing. Most of the time they are always willing to stay after and talk to a student if they request to be talked to.
Tips for prospective students Take the opportunity of receiving help from tutors within the campus. They're always helpful, and will answer questions for you so you won't fall behind in your courses.
In three sentences Harper is a beautiful campus, especially being located in the suburban area where I've grown up in. This school has given me a second chance and opportunity to try and succeed for a future. For being a community college the resources offered are outstanding from tutors, to the library selections, to even their school activities.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Along with campus police all over campus, there are call towers everywhere as well.
Greek Life None.
Great for these types of students Harper is great for students who are looking to save some money on their first two years of school. It is also a great place for students who are unsure of what they want to do in their future. Aside from out of high school students, Harper is an ideal place for adults to come back to school and receive their diploma as well. The nursing program at Harper is one of the best, therefor, nursing students find it to be ideal also.
Bang for the buck For the great academics and the University level classes, Harper gives you your money's worth, without a doubt.
What to do for fun There are a ton of clubs and events at Harper. In the past semester alone, we have a ton of interesting speakers come as well, ranging from Olympians to Holocaust survivors. There are also variety shows, sporting events, and rallies that go on almost every day.
Food and Dining Across campus, Harper's cafeterias have a wide variety of different food selections, ranging from soups and chili, to the most delicious paninis. All the buildings have small quick stops and vending machines as well. There is no reason why anyone should be hungry at school with everything Harper offers.
Dorm Life Harper is a community college and does not offer on campus living.
Academic Rigor The professors are passionate about what they teach. Paying attention during lecture and taking notes is key to understanding the concepts. Almost all classes are at a University level, so it isn't like a typical junior college.
Tips for prospective students The professors at Harper work with you, in order to make sure you succeed. Communication with your professors is vital to achieve your academic goals. Also, take advantage of all the help they are willing to give, whether it be online, study guides, or help labs.
In three sentences Harper college is a wonderful school for anyone looking to further their own personal education. The faculty and staff are dedicated to the success of their students. Students are really allowed to express themselves in whichever way they may please, and are encouraged to be the best person they can be.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I've never seen the need for security first hand, but campus security is always walking around or driving around campus.
Greek Life I think the only Greek life is Phi Theta Kappa. PTK is a co-ed honors fraternity that is nationally recognized.
Clubs and Activities The campus activities board is always posting information about clubs and activities that are going on. There seems to be a club for any interest and there is always something going on.
Great for these types of students Anyone trying to save some money before heading off to a four year school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus V Building. It used to be the on-campus greenhouse, but now its a tiny building with only 3 classrooms that no ones ever heard of unless you've had a class there.
Bang for the buck Quality education (for a certificate or gen-eds) for only $55 a credit hour (in-district). The financial aid office is really helpful, too if you qualify. You can't ask for much more.
What to do for fun Harper offers a lot of extra curricular activities, after school seminars, all day events, and shows that are discounted to students.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is actually pretty good and all the food is prepared by the culinary students (they only serve the A work). There are small cafes all over campus that make finding a quick snack that doesn't come from a vending machine really easy.
Dorm Life No dorms.
Academic Rigor Most of the professors will push for your best work and they will push hard, but you'll grow because of it and this helps find what your strengths are.
Tips for prospective students Don't treat college (community college or a four-year) like an extension of high school; it's not. Be prepared to be treated like the adult you claim to be and start with your best foot forward. By taking college seriously, (yes, even community college) you have a better chance at enjoying your time spent there and getting decent grades.
In three sentences Harper is really quite good for a community college. Most of the professors have real world experience and are more than willing to help students is any aspect of their academic career and goals. Campus is beautiful, tuition is reasonable, and the education is top notch.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Harper has a full police building with lots of friendly officers that take their job seriously and makes it a main priority to keep the campus safe.
Bang for the buck The cost for attending school here is very reasonable and affordable. They are always thinking of ways to keep it affordable while also making sure you are staying interested with fun campus activities. Its the best investment I've ever made!
What to do for fun Harper College is five minutes away from some of Chicago's' biggest attractions. Wood-field Mall, which is one of the largest malls in the country, is only a few minutes away. The movie theater and lots of other shopping centers is also right around the area. For the most part, people on campus are very friendly so making friends and having fun with them should never be a problem.
Food and Dining The food here is great! There is something freshly cooked every day at a pretty reasonable price. There are about five cafeterias and plenty vending machines all around campus so picking up a good snack is always very convenient
Dorm Life Harper doesn't have dorms but there are a lot of apartments very close in range.
Academic Rigor For the most part, the staff at Harper College is very great and their way of teaching is even better. Even if you don't agree with the teachers style of teaching, there are great free tutoring centers where you can actually get one on one help.
Tips for prospective students If I could give tips to any prospective student, it would be to simply make the most out it. There is so much the school has to offer and so much to get involved in. There are countless numbers of clubs and always some type of activity going on. Just stay focused, get involved and you'll will be sure to enjoy your time here.

Categories Comments Food and Dining The food and dining services at Harper College is your typical mini buffet . It has anything your heart desires. As for me I'm more of a heart healthy eater. I prefer the typical salad, with fruits and vegetables. But, overall it isn't bad when your desperate for satisfying your taste buds .
Dorm Life NO DORM LIFE :/ Having a dormitory would make the school even better. Its not fun having to come home after your classes.
Academic Rigor The classes at Harper College are manageable. The classes at Harper College are taught by some very intelligent professors and teachers, especially how they love what they do. As far as academic rigors go , the classes are the same as a university. Just because your attending a community college doesn't mean your not getting the same education as if it was for a student who attended a 4 year university. You actually are saving a ton of money before transferring to the school of your choice.
Tips for prospective students Attend Harper College focusing on your studies and opportunities. Keep yourself active and sophisticated. Meet new people and enjoy the short couple years you have there, before attending a university of your choice.
In three sentences If you want to attend a school that saves you a load of money without putting you in high debt, then i highly recommend attending Harper College. Also, It's a great transitional school for graduating high school seniors who aren't sure they are ready to leave home for a big university. Also Harper College is great for having a campus that actually feels like one, unlike your typical community colleges.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a police building on campus and they're often seen driving around the parking lots and walking through buildings and around campus.
Greek Life Harper has no frats or sororities.
Clubs and Activities At the beginning of the school year there is a week where the clubs and activities all set up booths in the main quad, go to this! You will be able to sign up for clubs you're interested in and don't be afraid to sign up for a ton. You'll get emails where they will tell you when meeting are and if you don't like the club it's easy to opt out of emails. It's the best way to get involved.
Food and Dining Harper has a cafeteria which is set up like a food court with a sandwich station, soup and salad bar, snack table and several other options. There are also smaller cafes scattered over campus which sell pizza, snacks, drinks, etc. The food is pretty good and everything is kept very clean.
Dorm Life There aren't any dorms at Harper, but there are apartment complexes very close to campus.
Academic Rigor There are easy and more challenging classes, but the professors I've had so far are highly knowledgeable and want you to do well. I'd recommend using ratemyprofessor.com before signing up for classes in order to find the best teachers. What you get out of the classes depends on how much effort you put toward homework and attending lectures.
Tips for prospective students Become active on campus. Since there aren't any dorms meeting people and making new friends is centered around clubs and sports.

Clubs and Activities There are numerous clubs and activities to join at Harper College whether it be a sports team, religious club, or even charity organizations.

Bang for the buck You get very good education for a very good price.
What to do for fun There are a lot of clubs and organizations to join at Harper College. If students do not want to commit to a club then they can do other activities. I usually go to open gym and play pick up games with other students. That way I am able to meet new people. In addition, I workout at their fitness, which is one way for me to relieve stress from all the schoolwork.
Food and Dining Pretty nice foods, but a little bit overpriced.
Dorm Life No dorms at this college. Everyone commutes.
Academic Rigor Like all colleges and universities, it is challenging. However, if we are willing to do other best and ask for help, it will be no problem.
Tips for prospective students I definitely recommend Harper College because it's affordable and will prepare you for a 4-year institution later on. Harper College is like any other colleges and universities. Always stay on top of your game because classes are challenging, but at the same time very enjoyable.
In three sentences The classes are small, which is very beneficial for students. Categories Comments Campus Safety No incidents. No stealing. No...Well, I don't know, I don't deal with crime. I can, however, assure, that I sleep sound and safe, and I have no present (even future?) concerns about the safety on the campus. P.S. The police is friendly here. I guess.
Greek Life Honestly, I think I've never heard that term before. What does it mean/describe?
Clubs and Activities A lot of interesting clubs and organizations. Just check out the clubs and organizations section on the official site.
Great for these types of students Aspiring students who just don't have the money to go to a more prestigious place. Or, people who don't know what do they want to do with their lives just yet.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I haven't noticed any.
Bang for the buck Perfect. You learn-you get your credits. Almost free, if compared to other institutions that are available in IL.
What to do for fun Personally, I find fun studying or going to the musical room or researching stuff at the library. There is a game floor, 3d floor in building A, which provides such entertaining activities as air-hockey, chess, and more. A lot of people also play card games, there are nice tables that look like they were set up perfectly for that (A statement which card gamers would look at sceptically-does it matter, the table?).
Food and Dining That is the only area that upsets me: there isn't much of a choice between foods and most of the foods aren't healthy a bit. Each day you can get something new, but the foods are of the type of fries, pizza, hot-dogs, burgers, sandwiches, and etc. Not a sufficient diet. There are salads available, but that does not dominate the food system. I guess there is a positive side--surely can't die from hunger.
Dorm Life I gave such a low rating for a simple reason--there are no dorms in Harper College. It is a local (community) college, and the majority of students aren't from far away. If you plan to enter Harper College as a student from a different state, there are opportunities for renting an apartment.
Academic Rigor The classes aren't hard, but you do need to study (At least, that is beneficial, and if you want to truly understand the deal of the course, not just get a letter grade in the transcript). For the most part, I like the material and the way/s it is presented.
Tips for prospective students Take your studies seriously and plan your courses relevant to your major; yet, also take a few courses that are interesting to you, even if they are outside of your major.
In three sentences It is fun. It is enjoyable. I, personally, love it!

What to do for fun It is a community college once again, so there isn't much to do on campus besides the variety of clubs and organizations they have to offer. Woodfield mall and the streets of woodfield are nearby which is always fun to be at.

Food and Dining They have food though mostly stuff you could find in a vending machine.
Dorm Life No dorms. It's a community college.
Academic Rigor The classes I've taken haven't been as hard as they could have been. The teachers make it easier than it might otherwise be.
Tips for prospective students Check for scholarships, there always seems to be a bunch left over. And get involved, a lot of the clubs do a bunch of really cool things and it's pretty much the only way to meet new people.
In three sentences The teachers are good and the classes are interesting usually. There aren't a whole lot of people who stick around when they don't have a class so it isn't very social. There are a lot of great opportunities if you know what you want to do.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck The tuition is cheap! Another reason why it's great to start your college degree here!
Food and Dining They have a cafeteria and two smaller satellites. The food is average.
Dorm Life There are no dorms.
Academic Rigor For a community college where most of the students are also working full-time, I would say this school gives a challenging amount of coursework. Professors expect professionalism and motivation.
Tips for prospective students Go to class! Also, prepare for you tests and if you need help take advantage of office hours and help centers on campus.
In three sentences Harper is a great starting point for any college career. The professors want the students to succeed. I would say the only con is that the school allows students to not get involved with the campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This campus is very safe. There are police around constantly and they are very friendly and easy to talk to if you have a problem or need assistance.
Great for these types of students All types of students! From students who are fresh out of high school to working adults, Harper College offers programs that are flexible enough to fit just about everyone.
Bang for the buck The prices are incredibly cheap compared to four year universities. I have been able to pay for my classes completely and will not have to pay back any student loans. Knowing my finances are covered and I don't have to pay anything in the future is very much a relief.
Food and Dining There are several cafes spread out around the campus. The food is pretty good, and will satisfy you if you have to wait at the campus for a few hours between classes. There are also vending machines filled with drinks and snacks if you want to grab something quick.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at Harper because it is only a community college.
Academic Rigor Harper offers a wide variety of classes with very knowledgeable professors. I have taken courses ranging from math and physics to philosophy and psychology, and all of my teachers know exactly what they are talking about and are very knowledgeable. You will definitely feel like you learned something after taking courses here.
Tips for prospective students Register for classes as early as possible and make sure your credits transfer to the university of your choice.
In three sentences Harper College is a great community college for students of all different types. Knowledgeable teachers and a variety of class have made the experience enjoyable. The low tuition prices also lower the stress of trying to find a way to pay for school.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck As described above, Harper is a great choice for those who are not willing to pay exuberant amounts of money in order to attend larger schools.
What to do for fun Join a club. Harper offers a wide variety of clubs and organizations, including clubs such as Think Tank, where modern philosophical issues are discussed and debated, or Buddhist Interest Group just to name a few options. Can't find a club that sounds appealing? Create your own! With the permission of the Clubs/Organizations Head, it is possible to construct a new, official organization on campus.
Food and Dining Food is offered at several locations on campus: the cafeteria in A building, various food courts around the main level, such as those in the Avanté building and the far north corner of the L building.
Academic Rigor Courses at Harper are challenging, especially the higher-level courses, such as those associated with the STEM area of career fields (i.e., Science Technology Engineering Mathematics). Students will be pushed to see how far they can expand their knowledge, but, at the same time, the workload is not at all unmanageable.
Tips for prospective students It's simple: Attend Harper for two years. The educational experience at Harper College is the same, if not better, as the experience one would have at a university; however, more funding would be required in order to attend the latter. In other words, Harper is the frugal option when comparing other schools; students get the same education for a far lower price.
In three sentences Harper College is an active site for advanced learning and maturing. Students are challenged in order to prepare them for their future endeavors beyond Harper, where they can excel as a result of their exceptional experiences. Harper is a worthwhile investment and a great way to save money versus going to a four-year university for two additional years (i.e., a student's freshman and sophomore years).

In three sentences Harper is a great school full of teachers who are passionate, and love to teach. At least that's the experience I've had so far, and classes are very cheap compare to other places. Also, they have a great transfer-friendly program that even Northwestern accepts, and a top community college in the country.

In three sentences Harper is amazing, the faculty is insightful and caring. Without Harper I would have never met my Biology professor who has become my mentor and gives me hope for the future in environmental science and I would have never study abroad in Costa Rica. Plus, they are so inexpensive that I didn't have to apply for a bunch of scholarships like I do now.

Categories Comments What to do for fun GET INVOLVED. Its no fun just going to school to get through it, meet new people, join clubs, and take risks.
Food and Dining There are vending machines all over the place with beverages, snacks, and coffee, but their dining areas all offer something delicious.
Dorm Life Since Harper is a community college, they offer no Dorm Life, but they are in the progress of purchasing housing and becoming a 4 year school.
Academic Rigor Depending on the teacher you have, the academic rigor will vary. Some teachers are an easy A while some are an almost impossible A. Just like any other school, you get what you put in.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to check RateMyProfessor.com before signing up for any classes because the teacher you have matters. Always attend class, it is the only to make sure you are staying on top of things. Get work done early, nothing good comes from waiting to the last minute.
