Great for these types of students

Hippies, hard workers, smartie pants', dorks, geeks, really awesomely cool people, environmentally conscious folks, casual bicyclists, people who aren't into greek life, druggies, partiers, and maybe even YOU!

    Tips for prospective students

Prospies: come visit the campus, you will fall in love with it. When I came to Hendrix for the first time the summer before my senior year of high school I was so impressed. By the time I was applying for schools I already knew that Hendrix was my very first choice, no doubt about it. So I really reccomend coming to visit, being here is the real end all. And you can come spend two days here and sleep in a current student's dorm room to get the full experience. I never did that, but it's a really awesome program and I definitely recommend that.

    Bang for the buck

Hendrix is very expensive, but it is an incredible school. The social atmosphere and incredible learning opportunities make it worthwhile.

    Am enjoying being here

Hendrix is an amazing place, a week doesn't go by without a million activities available to attend. I D.J. at the school radio station, attend sporting events, go to art shows, parties, lectures, discussion groups, help with the Hendrix community garden, take violin lessons, work out in the amazing Heath and Wellness Center... there's hardly time to breathe! But seriously, there's something here for everybody, and I love it.

    Am learning a lot

As a Secondary Education student I feel like Hendrix is preparing me to be the best teacher I can be. My classes are challenging, engaging, and just plain incredible. They require a lot of work and thought, but that's what I came here for, to learn!

Great for these types of students

Pre-Med, Bio-Chem, Art, Foreign Language, many others.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for every scholarship you can find if money is an issue; especially if it's the final factor in whether or not you choose Hendrix. The money is worth it. Take the ACT as many times as it takes to get a 32 because then you've basically paid for college if you can keep up your grades.

    Bang for the buck

Hendrix costs a pretty penny. All in all, the money is worth it. The community helps to promote growth academically and socially. There are a lot of community activities to attend like dances, concerts and parties; paid for by the student senate using your student activities fee. The teachers all know your names and faces and are more than willing to help you with extra lessons if need be. The money you spend definitely seems worth it while you are there.

    Am enjoying being here

I absolutely love the environment of Hendrix. The community is small (only 1350 students, I believe) and everyone knows everyone else. This doesn't just makes the parties and dances more interesting; it allows for students to get more attention from teachers as well as support for special events like drama performances and concerts. It's also a great environment for finding study partners because you know everyone in your classes, which are relatively small, not just the person sitting next to you. Also, there is little to no discrimination for sexual orientation, race, etc. What discrimination that may be felt is suppressed by those who feel it or is slowly transformed into acceptance. It's a great place to be no matter who you are.

    Am learning a lot

At Hendrix, you are required to take certain core classes which will vastly expand your knowledge and your lexicon. I learned quite a bit about religion in Journeys, a class required to be passed by all students before graduation. In my other classes, I've gone further in depth on subjects than I would have though possible in the semester time limit. I've thoroughly enjoyed learning accounting right along side pottery. Because it is a Liberal Arts school, Hendrix will serve to teach you a lot about many subjects not just one or two.

Great for these types of students

There's something for everyone whether you're an athlete, musician, artist, science geek. history buff, etc!

    Tips for prospective students

Meet with professors that are in your interested major/minor. They can tell you what to except for the next 4 years if you do take that route.

    Bang for the buck

Hendrix is expensive but the campus itself is gorgeous with great academics and the highest percentage of graduates accepted into graduate programs/schools in the state

    Am enjoying being here

There's always something to do. If partying isn't your thing, there's always events going on to encourage students to get involved. The people are varied and crazy fun which makes every day different

    Am learning a lot

The course load can be tough at times but I can honestly say I do learn a lot. The teachers are always available in some way or fashion to help when a student is struggling until they understand the material. All the teachers seem to love what they teach which makes learning from them that much easier

Great for these types of students

I would recommend this school to students who are looking for a small liberal arts college that has a generally politically Liberal atmosphere and doesn't mind a prominent party scene. An average GPA of 3.0 is the most common here, but would still be challenging to those of an even higher GPA.

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely do not underestimate this schools standards for it's students because of it's relative obscurity and kind of party atmosphere. I've learned that the unofficial motto of most students here is Party hard and study harder.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is about $40,000 which is a bit steep, but every student here receives some form of financial aid and I know that I was able to get about half of my tuition covered through their scholarships. It is definitely worth it when you take into account the variety of classes, new facilities, and the general environment.

    Am enjoying being here

Hendrix has a small but beautiful campus which includes wonderful lawns and common grounds for students to relax in. The new Student Life & Technology Center (SLTC) is especially cool with it's late night cafe, really nice cafeteria, very accessible computer lab, and extensive games room. The small size of the campus makes it easy to get from class to class quickly, but it is still large enough to take walks in or to ride your bike around.

    Am learning a lot

I feel the best thing about Hendrix College is the small class sizes. All the classes I have taken so far have a had a range of 15-30 students per class and I feel this is the ideal amount for interactive learning. With classes this size there are enough people to make discussion helpful and interesting, yet few enough people to allow for more individual help both in and out of class. The fact that this college is also a Liberal Arts College also allows for a wide variety of courses which is great when coupled with the aforementioned class sizes.

Great for these types of students

Students who want to accomplish something great in life, either through their family and themselves or through the world.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early, even if you aren't sure that you want to go to Hendrix. There is always the chance that you apply late and you aren't let in!

    Bang for the buck

It definitely is worth the tuition. There are many Hendrix graduates who have gone on to do wonderful things in the world from assisting the hunger problems in Africa and other poor countries to helping students here in the U.S. Plus, with the Odyssey program, you have the opportunity to study abroad anywhere in the world for free! If you are able to be picked for the funding of course.

    Am enjoying being here

I love it here. It's warm compared to Iowa and it's gorgeous in the fall. Everyone here is extremely helpful from the other students to the cafeteria cooks to the house cleaning people in the dorms. It's just a nice home-like atmosphere.

    Am learning a lot

There is always a ton of stuff to do! The teachers are all wonderful and they push you to do well. If you have a question or you just need to talk about the class, just e-mail them and they get right back to you. They are always willing to talk and help you. One teacher even lets students study in her office so if they have questions, she's right there to help. There are also tutoring sessions at least three times a week in different subjects and there is also a writing center to help with those pesky essays.

Great for these types of students

Outdoorsy, outgoing, and friendly people looking for a fun and rewarding college experience.

    Bang for the buck

Hendrix is a private school, but if youre a good student, you'll get a fair amount of money. The only reason I didn't go was because I was uncomfortable taking out ANY amount of loans, and I really didn't have much left in the way of that.

    Will enjoy being here

The main thing that I got from visiting Hendrix is that it is the ultimate bridge between a good education and a fun college experience. I think that pretty much anyone could be convinced to come out of their shell and have the time of their lives at Hendrix.

    Will learn a lot

I think the opportunities Hendrix has to offer are immense. I wanted to attend so badly after learning more about the Odyssey Program. People seem to be so worldly after trying the new things that the program allows them, and I have no doubt that the traditional academic atmosphere is likewise as rewarding.

    Campus Safety

The PSafe guys are super nice.

    Greek Life

none, and we like it that way.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs, and they put on tons of events. There's never a shortage of things to do.

Great for these types of students

Hardworking but laid back students will be very happy here.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Getting tossed in the fountain and sung to in the caf on your birthday, disco tray frenzy, Shirttails dance for freshmen, and a lot of the same theme parties happen every year. We like themes.

    What to do for fun

lots of on-campus events every day/evening. Join clubs, hang out with your friends, play pool in the SLTC, party on weekends, go to movie screenings, etc etc.

    Food and Dining

The caf ladies (and men!) are amazing, and get to know us. (You will love Mimi.) They're genuinely interested in our well-being. They do theme days at least once a month as well, where they decorate the caf, dress up in costumes, and serve themed food dishes. My favorite this year was the Carnival day.

    Dorm Life

It depends on which dorm you're in and what personality you're looking for. The dorms are a bit like frats, as they all have a specific vibe to them. You should ask older students when you visit what each dorm is like. Most people move into school-owned apartments when they're juniors, which also have some personality to them but aren't tightly knit like the dorms.

    Academic Rigor

You will be challenged, but it's great because professors are usually so approachable. You can get help when you need it.

    Tips for prospective students

Ask your student guides whatever you want; don't be afraid or shy. Also, if you decide to come here, get your housing form in quickly!

    In three sentences

Hendrix students, faculty, and support staff share a vibrant community spirit. People are friendly, energetic, and curious about the world. It's a fun place to learn.

    Campus Safety

Campus Safety is always there to help anyone of need, no matter what time it is. Whether you need your car jumped or you locked yourself out of your room (yes it happens), campus safety is there to help you out of any situation! The men from campus safety are extremely nice, and will inspect you car for you before long road trips! So always keep their number in your phone, because campus safety will help you with anything!

    Greek Life

While Hendrix does not have a Greek life, it has similar traditions that Greeks participate in as well. Hendrix as brother and sister dorms like Greek dorms. These dorms help each other out and create a community feeling with each other, as well as the other dorms. Sometimes Greek life can be a little too wild, and at Hendrix it is important to get a good education, but it is also important to have fun as well! There is a balance of work and play at Hendrix that has always seemed to fit perfectly.

    Clubs and Activities

Hendrix provides many clubs and organizations that students participate in. Whether it is athletics such as soccer, baseball, volletball, etc., or intramurals like dodgeball, students have many athletic clubs to join. Or students might like to join academic clubs that go with their major of Chemistry,Biology, etc. Perhaps a student might want to make their own club! Hendrix is willing to open doors for all students!

Great for these types of students

Hendrix is welcome to all types of students, but students at Hendrix must be serious about their education. With a difficult work load from classes, students must not waste time for they will essentially be wasting their money. Teachers want to give their students the best, so in return the students must respect the teachers and complete the work. If one works hard, they will fit right in at Hendrix, no matter their background or personality.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

An unusual tradition on campus is the dance competition held at the beginning of fall semester. Each dorm creates a dance in which the residents of the dorms dance in front of the entire school in the Brick Pit in the center of campus. Whoever wins in the women and men categories get to jump in the fountain! Another tradition is when someone is dumped in the fountain on their birthday, in which they also receive a cake from the dining staff! A cafeteria tradition in the Disco Trays. Whoever picks a disco tray up is said to have good luck for the rest of that day!

    Bang for the buck

At Hendrix you will receive a top education that will better prepare you for graduate school than most other schools. The student to teacher ratio allows one on one interaction, something you will not find in large schools! Students are able to sit down with advisors who will get to know them personally and discuss their future careers and how to get there. Hendrix takes their students seriously and propels them forward to succeed in life after college.

    What to do for fun

Hendrix College has something going on every night, and students never seem to get bored. Intramurals are very popular for students, or the many clubs and organizations Hendrix has on campus provide entertaining breaks from studies. Hendrix holds music nights almost every week, and students in a dorm will also get together to hold movie nights in the common room. There is an endless amount of things one is able to do at Hendrix!

    Food and Dining

The food at Hendrix is exceptional, and the dining staff are always happy and extremely nice. While other colleges might just have fast food restaurants, the dining staff cook different food every day, and are always happy to cook other things for you. The cafeteria is very vegan friendly as well. Hendrix dining staff love the students, so when it is a student's birthday, the staff will make them a cake and sing to them. The cafeteria is a great environment and also has special days where the staff will decorate the cafeteria!

    Dorm Life

The dormitories at Hendrix are always clean and well managed by staff and respected by the students who live in them. They provide a community atmosphere with the other dorm residents, and the other dorms as well. Dorm life at Hendrix is surprisingly not extremely loud as other colleges might be, and while Hendrix does not have a Greek system, the dorms do come together to host parties and cookouts with each other, just like the Greek dorms do!

    Academic Rigor

Hendrix College provides challenging and engaging classrooms that are difficult to find elsewhere. Teachers are experienced and always incorporate class discussions on interesting topics. While the academics and work load is tough at Hendrix, it will prepare students for the difficulties of graduate school.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students will always find that everyone at Hendrix is there to answer your questions and help you out in life. One of the first things incoming freshman observe is that upperclassmen never get tired of sharing their knowledge of the campus! Everyone loves Hendrix because it has everything you need to make your college experience great!

    In three sentences

Hendrix College has allowed me to challenge myself academically and athletically while providing an engaging atmosphere for anyone. It has everything one looks for in a college, and the smaller population of students allows advisors to create personal relationships with every student on campus, which shows that Hendrix is always willing to help their students at any time. I have come to find that Hendrix is full of encouraging and helpful teachers and staff that always take the time to help students out and push them to a brighter future.

    Campus Safety

I have only heard one or two stories of any kind of campus incident. And even then, they were stories of things that happened to students off-campus.

    Greek Life

There are no fraternities at Hendrix College.

    Clubs and Activities

Hendrix offers an EXTRAORDINARILY wide variety of clubs and activities, which students gleefully take part in.

Great for these types of students

Students who are naturally inquisitive, academically interested, and creative in more ways than one find their place here.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Shirttails is an event that happens at the beginning of every year. It's a Freshman-only thing, and it offers a great way for the newcomers to get their foot in the door when it comes to getting to know upperclassmen. Search Youtube for Hendrix College shirttails, and I think you'll fall in love with the college.

    Bang for the buck

The college is VERY expensive, and also very nice. However, that sets an extremely high standard which the college can have a tough time living up to. Overall, it's a great college and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else, but the prices can be smothering at times.

    What to do for fun

Hendrix offers a variety of clubs to join, and even allows students to hold unofficial clubs on school grounds. Perhaps amongst the most unique is the Hendrix College Sword Club, who play with swords made out of duck-tape and PVC. It certainly draws a crowd, though opinions on them may vary. If that's not quite your thing, the Hendrix Lacrosse Team can offer a sports-alternative that may seem refreshing in an otherwise mostly-sports-empty college. Even interest groups such as Students for Black Culture or charity groups like Campus Kitty play a large role on the Hendrix campus. It's hard NOT to find something to do.

    Food and Dining

The lunch ladies here are SO kind it's remarkable! The food here is also amazing. I have never had a negative experience with the Dining Services, nor have I ever heard of a student who has.

    Dorm Life

The RAs seem to vary between being too attentive about what goes on in the dorm (to the extent that they come off as nosy and invasive) or not attentive enough (to the extent that they come off as neglectful and inattentive). However, generally the dorms are pretty nice to live in. Hendrix has no Fraternities, so partiers go to Martin Hall.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are very in-depth and challenging. Several of the lecturers here care very deeply about their fields of study, and wish to lend that knowledge to their students. As a result, however, these professors are immensely popular amongst the students, and it can be difficult to get into their classes.

    Tips for prospective students

Be prepared to be challenged in ways that you would not normally anticipate. Hendrix is a place that has a place for everyone, so many students find it hard to actually take time out of their day for much-needed studying if they don't prepare. The teachers are wonderful, but the classes can be extremely challenging at times, so even if a class LOOKS easy--- it's a trap! Just keep studying and you'll be fine. Also, get to know the Dean of Students. He's extremely likable, looks like Will Ferrell, and loves knowing what students are up to. Worried about breaking the ice with him? Ask him why Will Ferrell looks like him!

    In three sentences

    Never want leaving

    Campus Safety

Safety on Hendrix is unbelievably great. The campus makes you feel safe and Conway is a pretty nice city, so there isn't much worry, but if trouble does arrive, they have convenient emergency poles all over and public safety driving around all the time to protect their students.

    Greek Life

There is no greek life at Hendrix, but like everything great. Freshman dorms act as sororities and fraternities and we host activities such as Faux Rush Week and Shirttails. Plus it is always fun five years down the road to say I was an Easy VZ girl. A.K.A. I lived in Veasey Hall for freshman and sophomore year.

    Clubs and Activities

Hendrix has a large amount of involvement on campus. In fact, most things that happen in this college town for Hendrix Students is on campus. The Hendrix experience is so great that it isn't even considered a suitcase college. Most people prefer to hang around for the weekend activities that happen around campus.

Great for these types of students

The school is great if you are leaning more towards a liberal education. It's also great if you were singled out in high school and just want to be united with a huge group.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The campus has OR week for freshman and it is crazy awesome. The orientation at hendrix is unlike any other orientation. Shirttails is also a tradition that Hendrix has and basically it is a dance off of each freshman dorm. The freshmen learn the dance choreographed for their dorm and then perform it in the brick pit the second saturday night of the school year. Their is also the tradition of throwing students in the fountain on their birthday, it is fair game all day long. They also bake you a cake and sing happy birthday in the cafeteria on your birthday. This campus is filled with tons of awesome and fun traditions.

    Bang for the buck

The only really depressing part about Hendrix is that it is private and extremely expensive. However, the money is worth it if you are staying for the complete four years. They also have a ton of scholarships that they are willing to hand out to any student who has worked hard enough to obtain them. Hendrix has a high price, but if your planning on medical school, law school, or graduate school, then it is absolutely worth the extra bucks.

    What to do for fun

Campus is full of great opportunities. The school has a ton of social events including a foam party, toga, and ghost roast. It's a blast and it keeps the students safe and on campus. They also have the best orientation week I have ever heard of for freshman. It includes a weekend trips with a smaller group, pizza wars, and Playfair. If you never heard of any of this, go to hendrix.edu and click on the future students and orientation site for more information on that.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining experience at Hendrix was seriously my favorite part. The cafeteria staff is absolutely amazing and the food is delicious. Plus on your birthday, they will bring you out a cake that they baked in the back and sing the happy birthday song Hendrix style. (It's a bit different from a regular happy birthday song and most people never know the words)

    Dorm Life

The dorms are a blast as far as the social experience due to all the fun activities that are hosted by the college. The only downside is that this campus is old and their is a lot of mold that pops up around the dorms. When you become an upperclassman, you have a chance at the houses or the apartments and they are significantly better.

    Academic Rigor

Hendrix is considered a Harvard of the South. It didn't get that nickname because it is an easy school. The professors expect a lot out of you and everyone there was pretty much at the top of their class in high school. Make sure to stay up on all assignments and Do not procrastinate because it will bite you later.

    Tips for prospective students

Study hard because it is not an easy college and professors will not pass you without your dedication to the class. Pay attention in lectures because more than likely it will be on the test. Make friends with the cafeteria workers and any workers because it is such a small campus that if you ever need anything, they are willing to help you out in any way they can. Go to tutoring if you have trouble. It is why they have tutoring, for students in need. Get involved.

    In three sentences

Hendrix is a liberal arts school that has a wonderful professor to student ratio. It has a small, homely feel to the campus and the faculty and staff are very interactive. The academics and social life both have high rankings when it comes to it and other colleges.

Campus safety is great and everyone is very courteous.

    What to do for fun

Play football and baseball but at Hendrix think I am going to checkout Ultimate Frisbee and Co-ed Softball, when I am not on the football field and class.

    Food and Dining

    AWESOME!!

    Dorm Life

Maintance and cleaning staff to help, free laundry facilities, room about normal for a resident

    Academic Rigor

High academic, Hands on Approach to Learning

    Tips for prospective students

Take the Hendrix Experience if you are looking to attend Hendrix, it is awesome. Meet with Department Heads and talk to them about your future educational plans. Start Early to create your financial package.

    In three sentences

Very professional in their recruiting of high academic students. Constantly showed that they cared about the perspective student and the process of choosing the right college or university. Always informative on topics to help students know what the college was about and the Hendrix Experience puts everything into perspective.

    Campus Safety

The campus is monitored by its security force around the clock and the campus is diligently protected. There is no concern among students as to the safety on campus

    Greek Life

Hendrix College is missing two pillars of southern collegiate life: Greek life and football. Although the school is likely to get a football time in the near future. There is no Greek Life on campus, but the dorms take the place and serve as a unique identity for their residents.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a wide range of activities and clubs for students to participate in and the school encourages students to start clubs based on their own interest.

Great for these types of students

Hendrix appeals to many different people for different reasons. The shy student feels at home on the small, friendly campus, while the confident outgoing person finds it easy to jump in and begin making friends. Hendrix is a community founded on inclusivity and acceptance.

    What to do for fun

Sports at Hendrix don't exist to any significant degree. Students make up for it by throwing parties and socializing in the dorms. Downtown Conway is a neat quiet place that many students use to get away from school and relax as well.

    Food and Dining

Hendrix College cafeteria is known as the best cafeteria food in the state. It is universally accepted as the best school food the students have ever eaten. The dining services will not disappoint.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are not as high tech or aesthetically pleasing to many students, but the student body tries hard to use the dorms and living quarters as a sort of identity and replacement for Greek Life. There is a universal camaraderie among the dorms that adds to the school spirit.

    Academic Rigor

Hendrix is a hard school. It has a reputation throughout the state and the South as being a top college, and for a long time was the best channel by which an Arkansas resident had of going to medical school. Quality programs at Hendrix include the chemistry and biology departments, but psychology and political science are among the most popular degrees.

    In three sentences

Hendrix has a small town, cozy atmosphere designed to make students feel at home. While the campus is small, it is a pretty and manicured location that entices all who tour and observe the learning that takes place there. Don't let the quiet surroundings fool you, the student body is made up of fun loving and boisterous individuals.

    What to do for fun

There's almost always something going on on campus. I rarely feel the need to go off campus for entertainment.

    Food and Dining

The options seem endless. It's as if there's a pantry of ingredients available to make your own personal dishes.

    Dorm Life

Great! It definitely depends on the dorm, so choose one that fits your personality in order to avoid issues in the future.

    Academic Rigor

Tough, but good. The professors are quite willing to answer questions and help the student, but they won't baby you either.

    In three sentences

Hendrix is an even better decision than I had imagined it would be.

    Campus Safety

Never feel unsafe. P-Safe is always around, but they are really nice and don't try to get people in trouble.

    Greek Life

    non existent

    Clubs and Activities

Lots of clubs and ways to get involved.

Great for these types of students

Weirdos, hipsters, and smart people who like to have fun and get crazy.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

SHIRT TAILS! First week of freshman year there is a dance competition between all the dorms. Upperclassmen choreograph a dance for each hall and teach it in a week. The whole day of the competition is a party (except for the performers who have to wait until after their dance), with a concert that night (we had Chiddy Bang last year). Also, Hendrix is very lax on its alcohol policy- no open containers. That means put it in a cup and you're fine.

    Bang for the buck

The school is really expensive, but they are awesome with financial aid. It is a small private school, which is what you pay for.

    What to do for fun

People are really outdoorsy at Hendrix. Often I lounge around with my friends outside. There are benches and tables all around to hang out around. We love to go camping and hiking on the weekends. You can go out to Conway to get food or go to the movies or shopping, but you have to have a car to get anywhere for the most part.

    Food and Dining

The kitchen staff are really nice and will learn your name within the first month of school. There are a lot of different stations in the cafeteria, with a mix of healthy and fried food. You can make your own sandwiches and there is a wok to make stir fry with. There is also the Burrow which is great for when the Caf closes.

    Dorm Life

All the dorms are pretty close to each other and really close to classes. Depending on the dorm you pick you get different sized rooms. The girls dorms tend to have bigger rooms with sinks and mirrors. Some of the guys dorms have sinks in their rooms. Its best to check out the layout of all the dorms before selecting your 3 choices. The RA's are really relaxed unless you're being stupid- like being too loud or dangerously drunk. They don't care about drinking as long as you hide it well and don't act like a jerk.

    Academic Rigor

Hendrix takes academics very seriously. Its a liberal arts school, so students have to take classes in various fields. Most of the teachers are pretty hard (but fair) graders. Teachers push for the best work.

    Tips for prospective students

Take a tour on during the day on Friday and spend the night with a current student. That way you can get a better feel of what Hendrix is really like.

    In three sentences

Hendrix is an awesome school because of its small size. The campus is easy and fast to get around. There are always familiar faces everywhere.

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of clubs, I found the Game Theory Club most interesting. Hendrix offers many sports and outlets on campus that leave little time for students to look anywhere else for entertainment.

    Food and Dining

I have to say, there is no other place I have been to that offers the same kind of cafeteria food and service like Hendrix. There are truly qualified, kind cooks behind the lunch buffets. Speaking of buffets, Hendrix has plenty of choices for any kind of diet. I had to watch myself as I ate lunch in their Harry Potter-style lunchroom, careful not to stuff myself silly. They could definitely be a five-star restarurant if they wanted to be.

    Dorm Life

From the opinions of the students I received, the dorms are like any other college. You have your ups and downs, but they are beautiful in a rustic kind of way.

    Academic Rigor

The admissions counselor I met, Brett Carr, told us juniors that we would be writing in every class that we take, even mathematics classes. Hendrix is a traditional liberal arts college, it puts the well in well-rounded. The Odyssey Program is one way Hendrix exposes students to areas of learning they would otherwise avoid. It requires students to do research, volunteer work, or service in an field seemingly opposite to their preference.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you take into account the good and bad of any college you visit, including some things you did not expect to impress/disappoint you. For example, I was ecstatic to hear about Hendrix Odyssey Program, but was disappointed to hear from the students ther opinions of the dorms. Using this information, I can better make my final decision with balanced facts.

    In three sentences

I visited Hendrix College this month arnd was AMAZED! I loved the atmosphere, the personnel, and the spirit of the students there. I definitley want to apply to this school during my senior year!

    Campus Safety

Public Safety does their best to keep things safe around here! They patrol regularly and have emergency call phones all around campus. That being said, it is an open campus in the middle of the city so it's also important that students remember to be smart and careful.

    Greek Life

    No Greek life on campus.

    Clubs and Activities

So. Many. Clubs. If there isn't something for everyone I would be shocked. But then again, you can always start your own club if that were the case.

Great for these types of students

Students looking for impassioned learners and open minded peers.

    Bang for the buck

While the price tag is pretty hefty, the college is really good about giving scholarships if you work for them, which makes it more than manageable. I paid less than some friends going to the University of Arkansas.

    What to do for fun

The college is located in the middle of a descent city and is pretty close to Little Rock, so even on the off chance that you cannot think of a thing to do on campus (it's a fairly busy place in it's own right) you can go find something to do in town.

    Food and Dining

It has a world class cafeteria! In fact, it was rated one of the top 25 most overlooked colleges in the U.S. because of the grub!

    Dorm Life

Each dorm has a certain appeal. Each one definitely has a certain atmosphere that makes it different from the others and none of the (girls) res halls look the same.

    Academic Rigor

It's on the difficult side. There is a great deal of work, but the professors and administrators are aware of that and it is definitely do-able. It just takes a little more focus and hard work.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to check out the campus and city as much as you can! And talk to as many people as you can, like students or admission counselors, they tend to have the best advice! If you're interested or worried about something specific, ask about it! No need to keep wondering!

    In three sentences

Wonderful faculty and staff who really care and remember you personally! The best food you'll find on a college campus! A really inviting and open atmosphere!

There is a rock climbing wall in the Wellness and Activities Center. There are so many social activities that you will have a hard time trying to decide which ones to go to.It's always nice to have so many options!

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria women are the best!Hendrix has themed days like Rock and Roll day where they dress up and play music while you eat. You can also suggest a recipe and they'll make it. You have vegetarian options as well. I spent a month there and gained half of my Freshman 15 before I even become a freshman!

    Dorm Life

I have stayed in Galloway during a college visit and Hardin Hall during Governor's School. Both were fine but Hardin (really, an all male's dorm is quite spacious compared to the Galloway room I was in. A female dorm that is more spacious than Galloway is Veasey. The dorms are a pretty close-knit group probably because of Shirttails among other friendly competitive activities.

    Academic Rigor

There is a new freshman class called the Engaged Citizen.I don't know if it is necessarily difficult but the students say that the classes are challenging.

    Tips for prospective students

If you went to or you are attending Arkansas Governor's School, remember that the 399 kids you spent or will spend 4-6 weeks with might not be going to Hendrix. Don't base 4 years at Hendrix on your time at AGS.There are people who didn't attend AGS who are just as awesome!Visit the school during Embrace the Orange. It's a great way to see the clubs, dorms, and any activities that go out throughout the year.Plus, brinner (breakfast+dinner)

    In three sentences

I am so excited to attend Hendrix this fall! The students are friendly, there are many social activities and interesting classes, and the faculty is excited about giving each student the valuable education that they provide you with. One of the things that I feel helped me decide on Hendrix is the motto Unto the Whole Person and how the entire campus takes it seriously because this is a time that you learn more about yourself, what you want to do in life, and how to apply it to improving the livelihood of yourself and others.Plus, it doesn't hurt that the sweetest cafeteria ladies create the best campus food I've ever tasted!
