Great for these types of students

Everyone. HPU Financial Aid will help you, so don't let the Comprehensive fee scare you away!

    Tips for prospective students

Come to an Open House or schedule a Campus Tour, no other university will out shine High Point University!

    Bang for the buck

HPU has the nicest campus. All the housing is either new or newly renovated. Laundry is free. We have the best meal plan options, Subway, Chic-Fil-A, The Pointe, the cafe. We have a Starbucks and a Bakery. We are allowed to have our vehicle and can park next to our dorm, even as freshman!

    Am enjoying being here

Absolutely Love It! There's always things to do here. The University has special performers come to us and they take us by HPU Charter Buses to things off campus, free of charge. We've gone to the Grand Prix go cart track, Dixie Classic Fair, Spooky Woods.

    Am learning a lot

Attend Summer Experience before your freshman year, you'll earn credit hours, meet other freshman and learn your way around. Be sure you go to class. Classes are small and you will be missed.

Great for these types of students

This university is great for students who want a small school setting with great accommodations.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you come to visit the campus. It will blow you away with its beauty and luxury.

    Bang for the buck

Students receive a great education while living on a comfortable and enjoyable campus. To have such accommodations on any other campus would cost students a fortune but here at High Point University, most costs are all inclusive in the tuition. We have a movie theater which is all free including one drink, one snack, and a nice serving of popcorn.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is reminiscent of an upscale country club. Lush green lawns with bronze statues and numerous water fountains decorate the campus and wrap you in a luxurious state of being. The buildings have all been either remodeled or are brand new. University Center alone has three dining venues, a movie theater, a study center (which hands out milk and cookies after 9pm), and a convenience store.

    Am learning a lot

The professors here not only care about your number scores but about your wellbeing as well. High Point University maintains it's holistic approach to education by making sure that a student does well in all areas of life.

Great for these types of students

High Point attracts students from almost every state in the US and 75% of students are from out of state. Students that want a personal interaction with their professors, a close knit community and upscale living will love High Point University.

    Tips for prospective students

You must visit the campus! You will be amazed from the moment you drive in as you are welcomed by your own personalized parking space which will be followed by flowing fountains, statues, and flags decorating the campus. You may want to come to an Open House where you will hear a presentation given by President Dr. Qubein. He is an amazing leader and visionary.

    Bang for the buck

At High Point everything is top of the line. The campus offers so much for the students to be a part of and it’s just the special stuff that High Point does that makes it that much more spectacular. There are food kiosks situated on the promenade where students pick up free food on their way to class. The HPU ice cream truck makes regular trips around the campus offering free ice cream. Also, the university takes charter buses to sporting events and provides dinner which is also free to the student. There numerous options for eating that are all part of the dining plan including a bakery with a stone fireplace, a sports bar with flat screen TVs throughout, a “Tommy Bahama” style grille, and an upscale three-course-meal steakhouse. Every building is either brand new or newly remodeled.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the small class size and that the professors know me by name. As I pass professors around the campus they all smile and say hello. The campus is full of activities and amenities. For example, there is a free arcade in the University Center where you don’t need tokens or quarters to play the games… you just simply hit start. On campus, there is a movie theater where new releases and movies that are not even out on DVD yet are played for students to see with free concessions. One weekend, the school offered free haircuts, free massages, and a catered buffet. Another weekend, a free concert was held on the lawn. Tickets to the High Point Theater downtown are offered free to students. The list goes on and on…

    Am learning a lot

All the professors at High Point University are willing to help you and want to see you succeed. In biology lab, my professor was eager to help us when we had trouble or to just reassure us that we were on the right track. In my other classes, the professors would read over our papers and give us their feedback before we turned them in for a grade so that we could make modifications in order to get a better grade.

High Point, NC is known for interior design, so if that is the direction you are willing to take this school is right for you. Also, for communications and journalism fields, business and education.

    Tips for prospective students

Take a tour of the campus, I'm sure when you see that High Point University gate you will automatically fall in love with this campus!

    Bang for the buck

HPU is a private university so there is no difference of tuition between whether you are an out-of-state student or in-state student. However, they work with you with financial aid. There is the work study program along with applying for scholarships and grants.

    Am enjoying being here

I am from MD so when I heard of HPU and it being in NC, at first I was slightly worried because it is so far away from my family, but at HPU you make a new huge family. There is so much to do here. For example, we have an Arcade, two general stores, the Extraordinaire Cinema, the 1924 Prime Steakhouse, the Great Day Bakery, The Point Grill, as well as Starbucks, Subway, and Chik-fil-A.

    Am learning a lot

Every professor is always there for you when you need them before, during, and after your class. They are easy to talk to and become attached to you.

Great for these types of students

HPU is perfect for every student who thinks they deserve a top notch and quality educational institution to aid them in success. It's a small community with all of the resources of a big school.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for the scholarships very early. You can't apply if you are transferring or after your freshman year. Scholarship deadline ends in December so you can deffinitely apply for them even if you haven't gotten accepted yet. Basically, HPU is looking for leaders with school spirit, determination, and good values. You have to be more than just an SAT score or GPA.

    Bang for the buck

Oh my goodness, at a far glance High Point may have a high price tag. However, $35,400 for a private school is relatively a bargain especially for all of the fancy extras that HPU does provide for the students that you just can't find anywhere else. For example, that tuition includes meal plan and housing so there are no additional fees. Some luxeries that we have that you can't find anywhere else include free kiosks in the morning that pass out snacks and drinks if you didnt have time for breakfast, a free ice-cream truck (in the winter they pass out homemade cookies, rice-crispy treats, and hot chocolate), a free arcade, free tutoring, free ipad, kindle, gps bikes, and other sports equipment rentals, free movie theater with free popcorn, drink, and candy, free HPU t-shirts, water bottles, hats, and other gifts on special occasions, free carriage rides in winter, free spring and fall concerts, free laundry, free parking, free 3 course meal from the on campus steakhouse once a week, free admission to all of our division I athletic events, admission to all musical and theatrical performances on campus, free trips such as ziplining, ice-skaing, bowling, weekend camping trips, etc. The list goes on and on. You have to see what you're missing. In the end you can't put a price on the value of your education and college experience.

    Am enjoying being here

My first year is coming to an end, and let's just say I'm less than excited for summer. Don't get me wrong, I love my family and home, but since being in college I've created a new family and new home for myself. There is always something to get involved in. The tagline couldn't be any more true. At High Point University every student receives an extraordinary education in an inspiring environment with caring people. I can already tell these are going to be the best four years of my life, and to make matters better, I am for sure going to apply for the 5th year master's program for Elementary Education. Everywhere you look the energy and school spirit is so positive. There is no way you couldn't love it here.

    Am learning a lot

There are a lot of General Education Requirements because this is a liberal arts college. However, all of the classes serve to be beneficial to creating a holistic education. Some of the unique classes that are required before graduation include: Dr. Qubein's President Seminar on Life Skills, an ethics class, religion, visual/performing arts, first year seminar, two different social sciences, pe, and a global studies course are a few examples. There are so many choices within each subject that make it fun and interesting to learn about everything. Even if you come in as an undecided major, you will quickly find that there's something for everyone at High Point University. The average class size is small and the university expects accountability so attendence will be taken. The professors are extremely helpful and so are the free tutors in the library.

Apply early and get involved. If you know that you are going to be a double major or in a major that is difficult, apply to do summer experience. i recommend it to get ahead.

    Bang for the buck

It is expensive but you get the quality that you pay for. You have nice dorms, great faculty, and tremendous staff.

    Am enjoying being here

There is always so much to do, you never have to be bored or sit in your dorm room

    Am learning a lot

High Point University has been amazing so far. The atmosphere, the faculty, the students and even President Nido Quebien himself has made sure that HPU is the ultimate college destination. The classes sizes are small so you do not have to feel intimadated to ask questions. There is so much to do here that you are never sitting in your dorm room. Dont wait, apply to HPU

Great for these types of students

    Northerners and people with scholarships.

    Tips for prospective students

Learn WHO attends the college and try to find friends before you attend. It all helps in the end. Join the Facebook page when you are accepted. It helps you meet new people, get your questions asked, and become a part of the community even before you enter the campus the first time as an official student. Also, attend the Early Registration event. You will be the first to sign up for your classes and you will be able to meet an academic advisor to really help you.

    Bang for the buck

You get a lot of amenities, but that's it.

    Am enjoying being here

Unfortunately, I applied solely for the amenities and the appearance of the college - I didn't really think about the people that might be attending. This college may be for you, but it wasn't for me. Unfortunately, I'm transferring back to my home state the second semester of my freshman year.

    Am learning a lot

I am disappointed in the classes I am taking. Only a few of my classes are actually of value.

    Tips for prospective students

This is a great college to go to. To help with the transition, I recommend all freshmen to go to Summer Experience so you can meet some new friends and get to know the campus a bit better, plus a few free credits to get you ahead of the game.

    Bang for the buck

Trips are included, get 19 meals a week, with 7 magic meals that gives you a free meal at many locations on campus, like Starbucks, on-site stores, Steakhouse.

    Am enjoying being here

There are always fun things to do. Free arcade with Xbox, PS3, Wii, NASCAR, etc. The trips we take are also included in the price, so anything that you need money for is maybe food or a souvenir.

    Am learning a lot

The teachers are great, and class size is small, so a teacher knows your name.

HPU is great for everyone and helps you experience and try new things that you probably would not have wanted to try before.

    Tips for prospective students

Imagine yourself walking around campus and seeing it as your new home. If you cant imagine that then it is not right for you. Also find an environment were everyone is friendly and welcoming and always there to help you and HPU is that kind of environment.

    Bang for the buck

You really do get your money's worth. It is expensive but there is so much to do and it really is worth the cost.

    Am enjoying being here

There is something happening all the time. the Campus Activities Team is something everyone should get involved in because you get to help plan what HPU is going to do through out the school year.

    Am learning a lot

I am learning tons of new things everyday. The President of our school teaches a class here on campus just for freshman and he teaches us how we can get anything we want and what we need to do to succeed in life. Every professor is availiable and there to help you when you need it. I know that i can always go and see or email my professors and they will help me with anything that i need. There are tons of people on campus that are always ready to help you when ever you need it.

High Point is for those who are open to meeting new people and getting involved on campus. It is for students who are serious about their education and goals.

    Tips for prospective students

Come for a campus visit, and if possible, stay with a current student for a night or two. I hosted a couple of high school seniors and they said it definitely helped with their decisions and idea of what life on campus is really like. Don't hesitate to stop a current student when walking around campus, because we will answer any questions you may have, or if you want to chat, that is definitely great as well.

    Am enjoying being here

Attending High Point is the best decision I have ever made. I am comfortable and I feel at home when I am on campus. The energetic and smiling faces makes me miss the campus when I am on breaks. High Point has become my new home. I came to the campus not knowing a single person, and I love the feeling of creating new relationships with my peers, professors, and even the President.

    Am learning a lot

I am in the Interior Design program and only been at HPU for a year, my knowledge of design, and everything else, has increased tremendously. The education provided allows students to broaden their minds, whether it be a First Year Seminar or a Major requirement. The professors are very personable and social. They know me by my name, and they are able to point me out in a crowd walking around campus, and this makes me feel comfortable around campus and in the classroom.

Great for these types of students

All types! There's biology majors, business majors, education, sports, communications, theater, accounting, English, Modern Foreign Languages, and so many more. Whatever your major, minor, personality you'll always be in good company here.

    Tips for prospective students

Tour the school. At first I thought this school couldn't be right for me but when I toured the school for myself I knew right away that HPU would be home for me.

    Bang for the buck

There's so many things to enjoy around campus. Where else can you sign up for outdoor adventure trips (most times free), attend free sports games, enjoy dining at the many restaurants on campus and the 1924 Prime Steakhouse, hang out with friends at the arcade, enjoy a movie at the Extraordinary Theater, go the Campus Concierge with questions, have campus wide wireless internet, attend free plays and concerts, rent movies from the library (for free), have free laundry, free cable and more???

    Am enjoying being here

I came here not knowing any one at all, now its hard to walk anywhere on campus without running into a plethora of friends. This school feels like family.

    Am learning a lot

The professors here are great! Whenever you're having difficulty with the subject or in a particular area you can see them after class or see them in their office. I've called many of my professors at times, when they aren't in their office or on campus and have told them that I don't understand something. Many of the professors are even comfortable meeting up with you for lunch to discuss your progress and difficulties.

Great for these types of students

-Someone who want a small school -Outgoing and very involved -More towards the preppy-ish, well-dressed and clean cut side

    Tips for prospective students

HPU is a great school. We have a diverse population and alot to offer. I would keep in mind though that while Greek Life is not all we have, it is a major part of the school. If you are not at all interested in Greek Life and want nothing to do with it, this may not be the best fit for you.

    Bang for the buck

HPU is not a cheap school, but for what we get it is definitely worth it. The dorm rooms are gorgeous, especially the UC rooms, and all the buildings are well-furnished. We have a steakhouse on campus that is part of our meal plan. How many people can say that about their schools? Not many. If you aren't at the Steakhouse, there is a sports bar, a Panera-like bakery, a Grille and the Cafe (which features a made to order stir-fry and omlete station). Also, we have kiosks open Mon-Fri mornings that offer snacks and drinks to grab without charge when running to class.

    Am enjoying being here

I could not be happier at HPU. There is always something to do on campus. I hate going home for breaks because I know I will be bored. Also, if you are interested in Greek Life, it is a big part of campus, but if you aren't there are definitely other things to do and other groups to join.

    Am learning a lot

My classes so far have been challenging enough to keep me focused, but not extremely overwhelmed. All of my professors have been so willing to help and will go out of their way to help their students succeed.

    Campus Safety

Incredibly safe! Security patrols on foot, segway, bike, golf cart and car. There are security poles placed throughout campus. You really can't go 20 ft without seeing security in some form.

    Greek Life

For a smaller school, Greek Life is pretty big. The majority of students are involved. However, if Greek Life isn't your thing there's no pressure for you to join. There are still plenty of people who are just fine not being in a fraternity or sorority.

    Clubs and Activities

If we don't already have it, then you can start it. There is a club or activity for everyone, and no I'm not exaggerating.

Great for these types of students

HPU is perfect for those who are interested in a great education and are willing to be involved and give back to the community.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are two main traditions: one as a freshman and one as a senior. After signing the honor code, the freshman walk to the amphitheater and place their hand in the waterfall. The seal in front of Roberts Hall must not be stepped on until you are graduating. It's considered taboo if you walk across it before commencement.

    Bang for the buck

Though tuition and housing is pricey, you are spoiled rotted here. Anything that you want or need is here. HPU makes sure its students are happy.

    What to do for fun

On campus we have the Extraordinaire Cinema (free for students!), an arcade, a recreational center and a performing arts theater. There are also a ton of student organizations to get involved with.

    Food and Dining

There are tons of places to eat on campus including the Great Day Bakery, The Point Sports Grill, The Farmer's Market, Chick-fil-a, Subway, Starbucks and more/

    Dorm Life

The dorms are fantastic! No crappy run-down buildings here. Each dorm building is its own community with different things to offer.

    Academic Rigor

Your education is what you make of it, make an effort in your classes and you will get a lot out of it.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be afraid to talk to students you see on campus. We are more than happy to talk about our school. Also, take the time to meet some professors and sit in on a class. That's a great way to see what it's like.

    In three sentences

High Point is a college resort. The campus is beautiful and the professors are awesome. It has all the southern charm with a contemporary feel.

Everyone! High Point University attracts students from all over, so you are guaranteed to make a few friends, further your education, and enjoy the next few years as a college student!

    Tips for prospective students

Visit the campus if you are still not sure High Point University is right for you! The moment you walk on this campus you will already feel at home!

    Bang for the buck

While High Point University is costly in price, you must think of your education as an investment. High Point University offers its students a great education and a variety of opportunities once you are finished with school. If you are going to splurge on your education - which you're most likely doing no matter where you go - you want to be certain what you're paying for is going to get you some place in the future, and High Point University ensures that for it's students.

    Am enjoying being here

High Point University is truly an extraordinary campus, which is what it strives to be. Like any other college campus you will make new friends, but very few campuses will offer you friendships that come from all over the country, even the world. This university strives to make sure students are active on campus by providing numerous free events to their students - from horseback riding to haunted houses to concerts! Even without the free events, High Point University is simply an enjoyable campus to be one. You will personally get to know President Qubein at some point and make friends with the wonderful staff High Point University has.

    Am learning a lot

High Point University has aimed to be a school that truly cares about each student. You are offered small class sizes (my largest class is 30 students) and individual help from teachers. While High Point University can offer a more challenging education, the university provides all of its students with the resources needed to help all succeed.

Great for these types of students

Honestly, High Point is great for you if you are the typical white, rich kid who has to have their parents get everything for them. If you think that sorority/fraternity life is your destined way of life, then you will love this school.

    Tips for prospective students

Look PAST the marketing tactics that they throw at you. Don't judge the school by the free luxuries.

    Bang for the buck

Hardly ANY scholarships and taking over the maximum credit hours will cost you HUNDREDS per credit hour.

    Did enjoy being here

The social scene is DOMINATED by greek life. Hardly any clubs and the dorms make it hard to make friends.

    Did learn a lot

Professors are nice and approachable. But the students are somewhat lacking in academic ability, so classes will be a breeze anyone who has a halfway decent intelligence.

    Campus Safety

Absolutely safe. The lighting system was redone this year to make sure at night all areas are lit up for everyone's safety. Security is always on top of their game. You will never find a safer campus or feel uneasy on this campus.

    Greek Life

Greek Life is a huge part of campus. Definitely try and get involved! There are many different fraternities and sororities to look into. Rush BETA THETA PI! If you do not want to be apart of Greek life there are many other options.

    Clubs and Activities

There are endless opportunities of clubs and organizations to join for everyone looking to be involved. Get involved early though and stay active. This will look great on your resume and provide many networking opportunities.

Great for these types of students

Students looking for a higher education at a beautiful campus. Students looking for personal relationships with faculty who care about there grades. Students looking for competitive and growing D1 athletics. Almost every student will fit in at HPU!

    Bang for the buck

HPU is growing in recognition and its accreditations. Yes it is very expensive. But with all that HPU provides in exchange you will be satisfied when you receive your diploma.

    What to do for fun

There are many amenities HPU provides from the gym, the courts, the pools, the fields, etc. The area off campus is not the best for looking to have fun though.

    Food and Dining

There are many great options for food at HPU, from Subway to convenience stores, to a sports bar, to the Bistro, to the Steakhouse. Though there could be a greater variety, the food is always satisfying!

    Dorm Life

Security is way to strict at HPU. Due to many freshmen being immature with their actions, security really cracked down last year. Nevertheless Greek life and dorm life is still fun on the weekends. There is always a dorm atmosphere for who ever you are at HPU. There are even dorms set aside for honors students with 24/7 quiet hours. The dorms are also full of amenities.

    Academic Rigor

The workload is not as heavy as you might think for a university. Yes the professors challenge you and provide high level education. But they are understanding of students as well and the workload is not as heavy as you might find at the more prestigious universities.

    Tips for prospective students

Apart from the high tuition focus on the other matters of education and extra curricular activities. You have a spectacular student to faculty ratio where you can meet 1 on 1 for assistance and they respect you. The campus will take your breath away as well. There are endless possibilities at HPU and all the meanwhile the president is still seeking growth and connections for us.

    In three sentences

High Point University presents students with an EXTRAORDINARY education surrounded by a beautiful campus, learning opportunities, and a strong foundation of excellent faculty members. The amenities and food options keep students satisfied while taking a break from academics. At High Point you are put in an atmosphere where all opportunities you take will have tools and resources available for you.

    Campus Safety

i don't think there is a more safe campus in all of north carolina. each and every student feels safe while on campus. whether it be because of the lights everywhere, or the security check points at each entrance of the campus, or the friendly security guards that drive around all day to ensure our safety while at hpu.

    Greek Life

greek life is unbelievable at hpu. it is very popular and makes up a large amount of the student population. personally, i am involved in greek life and couldn't imagine my life without it, but i know of some people who decided not to get involved in greek and they still love hpu and do not feel as though they are missing out on anything.

    Clubs and Activities

there is an endless amount of clubs and activities on campus. there is no excuse as to why someone should not be involved in something at hpu.

Great for these types of students

    smart, fun, open to anything.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

the one thing about high point that is different from most schools, is that you are not allowed to live off campus until you are a senior. i don't mind this because there are so many great places to stay on campus, but many people would like to have that option.

    Bang for the buck

i haven't met one person on this campus that does not like hpu. it is the most amazing school in the united states. yes the tuition is high, but it is honestly worth every penny. you receive an unbelievable education here and if the tuition is too high for you, hpu offers many scholarships to hundreds of students.

    What to do for fun

i am in a sorority so i am very involved in greek life at hpu. i also hang out with my friends a lot, but always make sure my school work comes first.

    Food and Dining

high point's food is great! there are so many options, you hardly ever get bored of it.

    Dorm Life

dorm life is awesome! the dorms at hpu are nicer than any other school in the us. everything is clean, well kept, etc. the workers of hpu put in so much effort to give us everything we deserve, but in order to get all this you must show you deserve it.

    Academic Rigor

the academics at high point university are impeccable. you are definitely challenged in your classes, but in a good way. and if you are ever struggling your teachers and professors are always offering extra help and assistance.

    Tips for prospective students

make sure you get involved! there are so many clubs, groups, activities, etc that are offered at hpu. the extra curricular activities are endless.

    In three sentences

high point university is an amazing school that gives students an exceptional education. the staff, faculty, and student body are all so friendly and kind to everyone. its campus is unbelievable and i could not imagine attending any other college.

    Bang for the buck

At the moment it is still reasonably priced but it is going up

    What to do for fun

There's always something fun to do on campus like see a movie, play volleyball or go to the pool. If you're looking for fun city life though, HPU probably isn't your best bet.

    Food and Dining

There are a ton of dining options so you can always find something you like. The steakhouse is amazing! I was a little skeptical of it at first, but you do end up learning a lot about professional etiquette at a restaurant. The waiters constantly give tips about the right way to act if you're at a business dinner.

    Dorm Life

The dorms hear are unreal - even the most basic freshman dorms were some of the nicest I'd ever seen.

    Academic Rigor

Although the academics are definitely improving, it's still not at the same level as some other schools in the area, such as Duke and Wake Forest. It's really up to the student how much they challenge themselves academically though.

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely take a tour of the school - it'll be the best college tour you'll go on. That being said, try not to plan your visit to HPU as one of the first you go on. The campus is gorgeous and it's hard to look at other schools after seeing it without comparing them to HPU. Also, make sure you apply for the presidential scholarships. They're usually due in mid-December so make sure you get the application in on time.

    In three sentences

HPU is a really exciting school with a great campus. The people here are extremely nice and helpful and the facilities are amazing! It's a lot of fun, but the academics are important too.

    Campus Safety

High Point is gated community with security at every entrance. There is security on campus 24/7, you cannot drive through campus without seeing at least two security cars.

    Greek Life

We have 12 National Greek Affiliations, all in which are very involved in the community and school.

    Clubs and Activities

I play on the women's soccer team at High Point University and am also involved in the diversity club and the Education Honor Society.

Great for these types of students

This University is great for outgoing and involved students looking to better themselves as a leader.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Something cool about our campus is we have an international promenade. We hold students from all over the world, and our president, Dr. Qubein has made sure to recognize them. He does this by hanging flags from all countries in which we have students down the promenade.

    Bang for the buck

There is an ice cream truck on campus that hands out free ice cream, all you can eat. In the winter time it hands out hot chocolate and cookies, it's the best.

    What to do for fun

There are endless fun things to do at High Point, but some of your options are going to catch some food at out University sports bar, play some games at our arcade or watch a movie in our Cinema. High Point is right in between Charlotte and Raleigh as well, so there are many things to do in both of those places.

    Food and Dining

Our food has got to be some of the best in the country. We have a five star steak house to assist our students with real life etiquette and communication. We also have an organic buffet called the farmers market that brings in local grown fruits and vegetables. My favorite is the bistro, which does daily specials such as sushi and noodle bowls.

    Dorm Life

I live in an apartment style dorm in the University Center. My room is absolutely immaculate, it's like living in a hotel, only better. I have a full bathroom with two closets, a kitchen and a full sized bed. My roommate and I are connected to another room, which also holds two people.

    Academic Rigor

I have a 3.36 cumulative GPA at High Point and I only see it getting better. I am in the School of Education at High Point and the professors are personable and outgoing. They are not afraid to reach out and give you all of the assistance you need to succeed.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students need to Know how to communicate with your professors and or administration because at High Point they are big on respect and organization.

    In three sentences

High Point University has made me feel welcome, while also inspiring me to try new things. It's extraordinary environment has given me the opportunity to play for their women's soccer team and made me a part of the School of Education. This one of a kind University cares for it's students like no other college I have seen.

    Campus Safety

There is a large gate around all the main campus and off-campus locations. The entrances all have security 24/7 and require a pass or ID to allow visitors in. There are also security stands all around campus you can go to if you feel in danger, but I personally never do. I feel safe walking around by myself at any time of day. Security is also very kind and willing to help anytime they're around or needed!

    Greek Life

There are many top sororities and fraternities at HPU such as Kappa Delta, Kappa Sigma, Alpha Gamma Delta, Beta Theta Pi, and so many more. The Greeks are involved in a lot on campus from philanthropy to intermural sports to leadership positions in clubs and classrooms. There are also some service sororities and fraternities on campus that are nonpanhellenic.

    Clubs and Activities

We have a tremendous amount of clubs and activities for students to participate in. There are 2 activity fairs a year that show all HPU has to offer that students can go to and get information on.

Great for these types of students

    Extraordinary, involved, smart, committed, leaders

    Bang for the buck

Not only does our campus seem excellent from the inside as a student, but even the exterior is extraordinary. All the students strive to be better and prove that through their actions but volunteering many hours, cleaning up litter on campus, being well-rounded and involve, and showing their Panther Pride to those visiting!

    What to do for fun

There are a lot of choices for fun on and off campus that are all included in your tuition as a student. There are 3 pools, a free movie theater and arcade, campus activities team (which coordinates taking students to events like the circus, ice skating, Harlem globe trotters, etc.). There is also a gym and recreational area in the student center that student can go to during their free time where you can take work out classes, use the equipment, rent bikes, form intermural teams, etc. all for free!

    Food and Dining

High Point University has a huge variety for food and dining. We have 9 dining options ranging from a cafe, fast food, and bakery to a 5-star steakhouse we can go to once a week. Other than that, there are 3 convenience stores for groceries and 2 Starbucks locations. All of these things are all-inclusive in the meal plan with global meals, magic meals, and dining dollars. You will NEVER have to worry about where or what to eat at HPU!

    Dorm Life

Even the standard dorms at High Point University are excellent compared to other colleges I visited while in high school. There are also so many options for students, and even freshmen get excellent housing(--I got my own room, a kitchen, and living area)! There dorm life gives so many opportunities to meet new people, form study groups, etc., and it also helps that much of the housing is located ideally in the campus.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on what your major is or what classes you are taking, the time you spend in class and studying just increases as you get older. Thankfully, the faculty is ALWAYS willing to help you out in almost any way. As a Biochemistry major and Math minor, I would say my academic rigor is fairly tough!

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be afraid to step out of the crowd and do what you love, whether that be starring in a theatre production, doing research with faculty, or stepping up into a leadership role. You meet so many people that you form relationships with and improve your experience as a student while you are in school.

    In three sentences

High Point University is an excellent higher education institution for those seeking faculty involvement and a chance to grow in their education and their leadership skills. I love attending this school because the focus of providing an extraordinary education in an inspiring environment with caring people--even the president is seen on a daily basis interacting with students. I cannot express the love I have for HPU and all the life-changing opportunities it has provided me.

HPU can be 'home' for anyone. But make sure it can be home for you. Come with a positive outlook, be ready to have fun, learn a lot, make friends, and have new experiences!

    Tips for prospective students

Visit and spend a day with actual students on campus. You will get tours and such from staff members and ambassadors, but their speech is scripted. Talking to actual HPU students will give you the real insight to whether or not HPU is right for you.

    Bang for the buck

As a scholarship kid, I get the concept of an empty wallet. But this school is definitely worth it, and HPU does everything they can to make sure valued students can afford college.

    Am enjoying being here

There is a reason why students don't leave on the weekends. HPU is the place to be! There is something for everyone to do, every day, any day.

    Campus Safety

High Point has a gate that extends all around the campus, even on the dorms not connected to main campus. This along with the hard working security members, makes the school very safe.

    Greek Life

A good number of students join Greek Life on campus, but not all, so there is no pressure to join one if a student does not want to. There are several sororities and fraternities on campus with ranging philanthropies and activities to partake in.

    Clubs and Activities

There are lots of activities to do on the weekends and during the week. There are also a good number of clubs in a range of interest areas, and if a club does not exist that a student would like to start, it is very easy to create one.

Great for these types of students

High Point seems to be popular with Northern students, although there are students from all over. High Point is really a place for anyone, though, as everyone is friendly and willing to help.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is a 5-star steakhouse on campus which the students can go to for free once a week. And there is a tradition of new students putting their hands into a small waterfall to show the beginning of their new life at the university. The school is also entirely cashless, meaning that to purchase things you only need your student ID card.

    Bang for the buck

High Point can be a bit expensive, especially if you do not get a lot of academic scholarships, but there price is all-inclusive and there are almost no extra fees to worry about. That price pays for your dining/housing plan, laundry, car parking permit, etc. And the school is really clean, organized, as well as a good environment to learn and make friends. Well worth the money, as long as you can afford it.

    What to do for fun

High Point's Campus Activities Team (CAT) works hard to make sure that there are always lots of fun activities to do during the school year every week so that no one gets bored. They set up concerts, movie nights, bowling parties, etc. There is always something fun to do.

    Food and Dining

There are several dining locations and meal plans to meet your needs. There is a 5-star steakhouse, sports grill, and bakery, just to name a few. The food can sometimes get a bit repetitive if you visit the same place over and over again, but that would happen anywhere.

    Dorm Life

All the dorms are very clean and well taken care of, especially the freshman dorms. Even the lower ranking dorms are extremely clean when you move in. High Point cleans all the rooms over the summer along with painting the walls and fixing any broken items. Most dorms also have a work-out facility and computer lab, or it is very close by.

    Academic Rigor

High Point does care about academics, but it is not to the point of being stressful. Most of the general electives are not very difficult as long as you try, but, as in any school, the major classes/upper-level classes can get to be rather challenging at times. But most of the teachers work hard to make sure that if you need any help you can be sure to meet with them and better understand everything. There is also a good tutoring program for students who need more help outside the class.

    Tips for prospective students

High Point is accessible for both Mac and PC lovers, and the faculty and staff are always friendly. A car is not really needed for the first year, although it is allowed, since the school has so many activities going on during most weekends to keep the students busy. The freshman dorms are very nice and clean, and High Point makes sure to make you all feel welcome.

    In three sentences

High Point is a very clean, organized, and up-and-coming school in North Carolina. It is a 4-year university, although it is working on expanding current and creating new Master's degree programs as well. It has a generally friendly atmosphere and lots of southern hospitality, even though most students are from the North.

High Point University has top-notch security that will answer any call (both emergency and non-emergency) and they are actively patrolling the campus 24/7, both on and off-campus!

    Greek Life

Most of the students attending High Point serve in a Greek Life. Greek Life is actively involved in serving both the campus and the community in a wholesome environment.

    Clubs and Activities

There are tons of different clubs and activities to sign-up for that they even have their own Activities Fair! Every club serves different purposes (i.e., intramural flag football, video game club, etc.).

Great for these types of students

Every student who wants a higher education that helps them build towards a successful career should attend High Point University!

For all incoming freshmen, orientation is a REALLY BIG DEAL to the staff and faculty of High Point University.

    Bang for the buck

High Point has been named the most affordable school several times in a row! From helpful financial aid counselors to the Presidential Scholarship award, High Point helps every student to be engaged in a college that meets both their education and their finances.

    What to do for fun

From the Ropes Course to Greek Life, High Point has it all! There are thousands of activities to do and they all have one concept in mind: meeting new people! These activities help engage the students to build strong interpersonal skills and to maintain valuable, lifetime friendships.

    Food and Dining

The term freshman 15 is just a myth! Here on campus, you have the options to eat at upscale dining restaurants (1924 Prime) or at a fresh food buffet (The Farmers Market). They even have options for those who are vegan, gluten-tolerant, and nutritionally alert.

    Dorm Life

Living in the honors dorms are the way to go! Every dorm has a Resident Assistant that takes care of whatever problem you may have with either your roommate or your room and they make sure it gets done just as soon as you put in the request. The Resident Directors plan out many activities for the dorm students to get involved and it is very easy to make friends.

    Academic Rigor

    Campus Safety

The campus is completely gated and each entrance has a security guard. Security also patrols campus throughout the day and night. I feel VERY safe on this campus. I have lived on the first floor for 2 years and I feel comfortable sleeping with my windows open because I know I am safe. This also makes mom and dad feel a lot better about me being at HPU!

    Greek Life

I am not involved with greek life, but I would say about one forth to a third of students are involved with it. What is nice is rush is differed so you don't rush until spring semester, allowing new students to get accustomed to college life before they rush a sorority and over commit themselves.

    Clubs and Activities

There is a wide variety of clubs and activities you can become a part of. Each semester there is an activities fair where all the clubs and organizations set up tables, and you can see what you would be interested from that! There's something for everyone on campus. Club sports are also very popular, and its nice because at HPU the club sports still have coaches, and they aren't just student run, so you still get the training and technique work like you would in high school.

Great for these types of students

All types of students. Keep in mind that you need to be willing to work hard in order to achieve a lot here at HPU. HPU has greatly increased its diversity over the past few years, and its changing even more every day, and the school is going to look at all students as potential students to this university.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The 1924 Prime is an unusual location due to its uniqueness. As far as traditions go, we have an eagle that flies at Convocation and Commencement symbolizing a transition from one chapter of your life to the next. For Convocation, the new freshmen are being welcomed onto campus and the eagle symbolizes the parents setting them free out of their nests for their time here at HPU. When this happens Dr. Foster sings You Raise Me Up, its a real tear jerker (I'll admit, it was tough to hold back my tears!). On the flip side of this symbolism, each student is given a blanket and they are instructed to give this blanket to their parents. For their whole life, our parents have loved and cared for us, and this blanket symbolizes the love and care that we have towards our parents but also thanks them for what they have done for us at the same time. At Commencement, the eagle flies as the graduate are set out free into the real world.

    Bang for the buck

At HPU, the tuition you pay is all inclusive. You don't have to pay for printing, laundry, any of the campus activity events, and even transportation to the airports is provided (thats only a few examples of whats included). Apart from the inclusive perks, what I pay for this school is well worth it because I have matured and learned so much at this school, and I don't think I could have achieved what I have achieved any where else.

    What to do for fun

HPU has a Campus Activities Team, CAT for short, that organizes and plans events for the university. CAT will do events such as bingo nights, karaoke nights, or laser tag on campus and they even do events off campus (with transportation provided) such as bowling, ice skating, hockey games, and everyone's favorite - The Dixie Classic Fair! Thats only to list a few of the many events that students can do. Another exciting thing that the university does is the concerts, one per semester. I'm a junior so I have been to five concerts thus far: B.O.B, The Fray, Gym Class Heroes, Calvin Harris, and J. Cole. Even on campus, you have the movie theater and the arcade to have some fun in.

    Food and Dining

First off, there is 9 restaurants on campus, 11 if you include Starbucks. You have your traditional cafe which changes their menu each day (but keeping things such as the omelet line or pizza line open each day). Also on campus is a Subway, Chick-fil-a, the Great Day Bakery (similar to a Panera Bread), the Point (sports grill), and more! The BEST dining option on campus is the steakhouse, called 1924 Prime. This is a five star steakhouse for the students and faculty of HPU, while its a great meal to have, you also gain valuable etiquette skills when you dine there. Each student can eat at the steakhouse at least once a week if they make their reservations on time!

    Dorm Life

The dorms are phenomenal here, you can't compare them to any other school. Even the standard, basic dorms are awesome. Also, each summer the school completely sweeps through each room and performs repairs, paints if needed, replace any broken furniture, and they also replace the mattresses if they seem nasty. Thats really cool because any space you move into seems brand new for you!

    Academic Rigor

High Point University has greatly expanded and excelled their academic programs over the past couple of years. We have professors from all different backgrounds who all work together and make HPU's academics something else. One things that HPU stresses is values-based learned, or holistic learning, which means that you have components outside of lecture that incorporate into education. These outside assignments help you better apply what you learn in class to real world situations. I have had a great experience at HPU with my professors, they're there to help you all along the way!

    Tips for prospective students

Come on a tour! It's hard to grasp the meaning of High Point University without seeing, and hearing it for yourself. Also, be sure to stay on top of your academics in high school, and definitely apply early. Applying early makes your senior year much much easier, and you also will get your decision back from HPU sooner!

    In three sentences

High Point University is truly extraordinary, at first you think its just a beautiful campus, but then you realize all the reasonings behind what the university has. HPU is a university so education comes first, and students are offered an outstanding education from the professors and their various backgrounds. HPU is a fun place to be, and the school does an excellent job making sure everyone feels right at home!

    Campus Safety

This campus is VERY safe! Each student is given a passport card which you need to enter any academic building after hours and are only permitted entry into the dorms if you have one. There are security guards located around campuses and at every entrance. They make sure everyone is safe and where they're supposed to be!

    Greek Life

Greek Life makes up a pretty significant percentage of campus life, around 40% of students are involved in a fraternity or sorority. If you want lifelong friends and to make a difference in the community with service projects, I suggest you check it out. Plus the housing in the village is excellent!

    Bang for the buck

Like most colleges, HPU is costly but I honestly believe you get what you pay for here. All the activities, the food, the level of academics, the atmosphere, etc. is worth every penny of tuition!

    What to do for fun

There's tons to do around campus. There are numerous clubs and organizations in which to get involved. In addition, there's church, sporting events, a movie theater, an arcade, and pools right on campus! There's plenty to see and do here. And don't forget to show your Panther pride when attending games! Sport that HPU purple!!

    Food and Dining

The food is amazing! There are numerous places on campus to eat. If you don't want the cafe everyday (though it's pretty delicious and there are different options everyday!) you have a choice of Subway, Chick-Fil-A, a five-star steakhouse called Prime, The Grille, Great Day Bakery, two Starbucks, and more!! Whatever you're in the mood for, this school offers it!

    Dorm Life

The dorms are immaculate like the campus! Even the freshman dorms aren't so bad, much bigger than you'd expect. There's also staff that keeps the hall bathrooms clean for the residents. Students may also select different types of housing. Suit-style and apartment style are open to older students and there are honors dorms as well for those eligible. When you're at High Point, college really is a home away from home!

    Academic Rigor

HPU offers a variety of courses. Many of the classes I'm taking are challenging and intellectually stimulating. I have learned so much within the past few months, more than I thought I would. I'm loving the courses required of my major, they keep me excited about my chosen career path and I discover something new I love about my area of study almost every day!

    Tips for prospective students

I would highly recommend filling out the Presidential Scholarship on your application. If your GPA and test scores are high enough, you could be eligible for a renewable amount of $10,000 a year! Also, take advantage of other opportunities given later in the year to apply. It will save you a lot of money in the long run. High Point is an expensive school, so help yourself (and your parents!) out!

    In three sentences

High Point University is a gorgeous school with an incredible campus. Everyone is so friendly and easy going. And the school has A LOT to offer!

    Bang for the buck

HPU is not in position to offer huge grant for students. However what you get for your money is pretty special. All in, your cost might be just over $40k a year, but you definetely get your money's worth. And if you end up employed in your field of concentration after graduation (as do over 80%), it will have paid off.

    What to do for fun

High Point is a small town and not much surrounds the school, so HPU has created their own stress-free zone on campus. They have a game (arcade) room with pretty much everything from pool tables to ping pong, foosball, hoops, fruit ninja, pacman, and even karaoke. They also have their own theatre that shows movies before they are released to video or netflix. All comes at no extra charge for their students.

    Food and Dining

We did not eat on campus, but what we saw was impressive. One of the perks of attending HPU is being able to dine at the 1924 Prime Steakhouse. Each student is allowed to eat there (with reservation) once a week. They use the experience to teach students about international cuisine and proper dining etiquette. Additionally, there are other places on campus, around town, and into Greensboro that accept your HPU Passport card, so the meal plan is more than sufficient!

    Dorm Life

The dorms they display are to die for. Freshman Honors students are afforded the opportunity to live in fully furnished dorm suites that come with living rooms appointed with leather seating and flat panel TVs, full kitchens, dinette tables and two bedrooms.

    Academic Rigor

This is the one area I'm not so sure of. The school does a tremendous job rolling out the red carpet that I wonder if it is overcompensating for a deficiency in this area. After all, its all about what you learn. I did not get the impression that the educational experience was lacking...I'm just unsure. Everything I saw was so outstanding, I almost felt like it was too good to be true. For that reason, I will remain neutral until I learn more. Without question, I will do the research.

    In three sentences

By far, the best visit I had this spring break was provided by HPU. The college was so well appointed that it looked and felt like a vacation resort where learning occurs. I imagine their students prefer to stay on campus during holidays instead of going home.

    Campus Safety

This campus is extremely safe. If I have to get up at 3 am and leave my dorm, I never feel unsafe.

    Greek Life

Greek life is amazing, and I am not just saying that. They bring a lot of money in for their charities and they also are very friendly. If you are planning on rushing, it is important to become friends with someone from the sorority/fraternity so you understand which types of people generally join the soroity/fraternity.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many activities it is impossible to count them all. Campus Activities Team (CAT) has something planned for almost every day which you can do! You are never bored on this campus!

Great for these types of students

Great for students who do not know what they want to do, for education majors, communications majors, and people with money.

    Bang for the buck

Everything at the school is basically all paid for with tuition, and the big secret is that you can use Dining Dollars for Dominoes pizza. I would say that it is a Bang for the buck, but if tuition goes up anymore, it certainly will not be.

    What to do for fun

Most students play volleyball on the volleyball courts, go to the pool and at nights hit up the greek village. The city of Greensboro is nearby and there is tons to do there, as well as Charlotte and Raleigh which are each about an hour away.

    Food and Dining

This campus has the best food out of any of the schools I have been to, however it is really easy to gain weight if you aren't paying attention to what you are eating.

    Dorm Life

Freshmen should absolutely live in the traditional style dorms if they want to meet lots of people. The more expensive dorms like Blessing, York, and the UC are not only expensive, but the people aren't as nice.

    Academic Rigor

It honestly depends on the professor. However, I find myself slacking off because I am bored in some of my classes. Just ask around before signing up for a class.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should definitely consider size as a factor, this is a very tiny school with out any Saturday Night Football spirit. They also need to consider if they are willing to deal with a bunch of students who have a ton of money and are willing to flaunt it, if you are not looking for this, do not live in the deluxe dorms. Lastly, if you're not interested in Greek Life, contrary to popular belief, you can still have a ton of friends on campus.

    In three sentences

It is an absolutely gorgeous school, however it is still growing and needs a lot of work. I feel as if they need to focus more on what faculty they are hiring versus the way the campus looks. However, they are making major improvements and I see a bright future ahead for High Point University.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a lot of options. You will find where you fit in.

    Bang for the buck

While tuition is rising, High Point will not nickle and dime you for most things. There are tons of freebies that most schools wouldn't provide.

    What to do for fun

Hang out with friends, basketball games, parties, free events thrown by HPU

    Food and Dining

The food is usually good. Can get a little repetitive at times.

    Dorm Life

I lived in McEwen freshman year. It was always clean, and the dorms are really great at HPU. Definitely way nicer than dorms at most other schools. They're very spacious.

    Academic Rigor

I really do feel challenged here. The professors are helpful, and are almost always available. Even after their office hours are over, they promptly respond to emails. Most classes are interesting and fun.

    Tips for prospective students

If you want a small school, and one on one attention, then HPU is great.

    In three sentences

High Point is a great place to learn. I get one on one attention and the professors really do care. The school is very small, however, which is a shock for some.

    Campus Safety

Safety is regularly stressed on campus. We had a hall meeting with security when I got here and security is always roaming to keep us safe. This is a surrounded, closed in campus to keep students as safe as possible.

    Greek Life

This is a huge part of our campus and a good majority of the people you meet will be involved. There are greek houses on campus, located in greek village with it's own pool and area to hold activities.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

A tradition they always do on campus is allow each incoming student to put their hands in the fountain because water symbolizes life.

    What to do for fun

There are always activities going on for students to get involved in on campus. We have so many clubs and organizations. Greek life is also a really big part of our campus. There are always events being run by members of greek. There are exercise classes we can take and trivia events with prizes that can be played as well.

    Food and Dining

We have so many dining options on campus. We have a 5 Star steakhouse which can be used as part of our meal plan. We also have a sports bar and a bakery. Our campus is cashless and much easier to get food than some other campuses I have visited. Even though nothing could beat my mother's cooking, I really enjoy the food on campus.

    Dorm Life

I am extremely happy with the dorms I chose to live in for my freshman year. All off the people I hang out with live on the same floor as me and I am comfortable walking around my hall. Everyone that I live with is friendly and we all make sure each one of us is doing well and feels at home.

    Academic Rigor

Many of my professors teach very well. The homework we are given takes both time and effort but it is for my benefit. I am able to meet with each one of my professors whenever I need help with a subject or with an assignment. Tests are difficult, but as long as you study and do the work, it is okay.

    Tips for prospective students

When I was choosing I school, I was waiting to feel that special something inside of me that told me this was my school. I knew I could see myself living here and knew I could feel comfortable even though I was leaving home. Always choose a school that will satisfy your needs; including both academic standards and living arrangements.

    In three sentences

My university, my home away from home, is a beautiful place to live. The academic life is challenging, but is only making me a stronger and smarter person. Socially, the school had some of the most caring staff and students I have ever associated with and I am very pleased with the decision I made to attend High Point University.

    Campus Safety

At any time during the day you can see security officers who constantly have your safety on their mind. At night, there are lights all over campus, so you will never have to walk in the dark. Also after ten, security will not let anyone on campus without an ID.

    Greek Life

From what I hear, Greek life always has something going on. We have probably between about ten sororities, both in the NPHC and the NPC and six fraternities in the IFC, so if you plan on going Greek you will definitely have a choice.

    Clubs and Activities

Campus is full of clubs for every interest, from anime to math, to TOMS shoes, to religion. Also, we have intramural and club sports for those who want to be part of a sports team without playing D1. At the activities fair during the first week of school, you will have a chance to see every aspect of student life and get a feel for everything on campus.

Great for these types of students

High Point is great for students who want to be seen as an individual by their professors and for those looking to go the extra mile. By being at a small school, students are able to make connections with professors and because of this it is easier to get involved with things you otherwise would not be able to. For example, I have friends who are majoring in interior design that are able to work at the furniture market and are therefore able to make connections that could lead to future employment. Also, a professor in the Computer Science department was able to take students to a programming competition and some have even gotten to develop apps for Apple.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is a little pricey, but while on campus, you can see that it's going to improving the school and making it better for you as well as future generations. The academics really are nice and you are getting a quality education.

    What to do for fun

For fun, you could always go to the arcade, or the movie theater, they show movies almost every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday plus you get free popcorn, candy, and drinks. If you want to go off campus, Greensboro is only about 20 minutes away and is filled with fun things to do.

    Food and Dining

The food is pretty good, way better than I expected! You can of course eat in the cafeteria, but there are other options like The Point, a sports bar type restaurant, The Farmer's Market, a great place to get salads and other organic food, and Subway or Chick-fil-A.

    Dorm Life

I live in the Women's complex and I absolutely love it! Here you are able to build relationships with the people on your hall easier than you would be able to if you lived in one of the suite style dorms. My friends who don't live in the complex always complain because we are always doing something fun. The other dorms are nice though, you get a bigger room and a partial kitchen, plus you don't have a hall bathroom.

    Academic Rigor

I definitely have to pay attention in class as well as do my own research outside the classroom, but compared to some of my AP classes in high school, the tests and quizzes are a little easier.

    Tips for prospective students

When applying, make sure you apply for the Presidential Scholarship, it's really helpful with tuition, and I wish I had known about it before it was too late to apply. For a lot of scholarships, you have to go through an interview process, so when you make it to the interview, just be yourself and don't stress about it.

    In three sentences

High Point University is a place where education is valued highly. It is a place where you can be yourself and make friends who accept you. There is always something going on, so you will never be bored.

    Food and Dining

Food and dining at High Point University is incredible! There are several food options, including three all-you-can-eat style restaurants, two Starbucks, Chick-fil-a, Subway, a Sports Grill, and a four star Steak House, which is a favorite among students. The faculty is all very personable and they interact with the students on a daily basis. Students become familiar with the dining faculty and some are on a first-name basis.

    Dorm Life

There are several options of housing available, including standard, co-ed, suite style, and apartment style dorms. There is also a 24-hour quiet dorm, for those students who want more time to study without having to worry about loud noises in the hallway or surrounding rooms. The Resident Assistants on each floor work to plan social events for the floor and are available if the students need them.

    Academic Rigor

There is a wide variety of classes to choose from, and the Honors Program is also an option for some students. Professors teach materials in class and offer extra help outside of class to aid students who need it. All of the Professors are happy to assist students and work with them to improve their performance in the class.

    In three sentences

Overall, High Point University is a great school. The environment is friendly and welcoming and the faculty and staff work to make you feel more at home. Campus Safety

The campus itself is fully gated with a guard at every entrance. No one is allowed on campus without an HPU passport or special parking tag. At night you are required to stop at the gate and to show your passport to the guard. Also, there is always a guard on duty in the University Center for any assistance. Security poles are located throughout campus if emergency help is ever needed.

    Greek Life

Greek life on campus is always doing fundraisers for all kinds of associations or for them to do a type of volunteer work. They had t-shirt tie-dying one night! It was only five dollars. Also, recruitment doesn't start until January so you have plenty time to decide if you want to be a part of Greek life and which one.

    Clubs and Activities

You will never be bored on this campus. In addition to the weekly movies and arcade, there is also events like the Inter-Residence Council that put on the Panther Pop Quizzes. They are so much fun and include free food! Last time they served wings and fried ravioli. Yes, I said fried ravioli!

Great for these types of students

High Point is great for students who just love to be in a caring environment that inspires you to learn. For me, I love going to the library and sitting in one of the huge comfy couches or chairs to study. Being on campus just makes you feel so at home and like you want to make a difference.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

One class we are required to take is the President's Seminar. Everyone loves Mr. Qubein because he is so friendly! He gives funny and interesting speeches on how to be successful in college as well as in life. After each of them he would give us, the whole freshman class, a gift to represent his message. Gifts included t-shirt, teddy bears, and even a dollar bill.

    Bang for the buck

You really do get all there is to a college experience. This past week we have had exams. At 10:00pm free Kuerig coffee was available in certain study areas all over campus until 6am. Also, each night a different study break snack was served- free of course. We even had Krispy Kreme one night!

    What to do for fun

Every Monday night there is movie shown in HPU's own theater. It's a free movie with free popcorn, candy, and drink! The campus shuttle also takes people to town for ice skating and movie premiers very often. Every Wednesday night is open mike night down by the free arcade. Yes, I did say free arcade! It has pool tables, Pac Man, Wii games in enclosed rooms with flat screens, Fruit Ninja, Nascar racing, and much more!

    Food and Dining

There is one place called The Great Day Bakery that is HPU's own little Panera Bread. Also, The Point, is a campus favorite. It has so many T.V.s it's ridiculous. Many people gather in there until 2:00am when it closes to watch games and eat. There is also a cafe, Subway, Starbucks, and Chick-fil-A on campus!

    Dorm Life

The dorms are absolutely amazing. You have never seen such before. My dorm now has two double beds and kitchenette! It looks like a hotel room with its nice cabinets and granite counters. I'm not joking! They even have this one called Blessing where it's suite style with 4 bedrooms, living room, and full kitchen! Definitely worth a time to go visit.

    Academic Rigor

So far I have enjoyed my classes except for the one first year seminar class we had to take. It just didn't pertain to my major and was boring for the most part. Teachers are willing to help and email you back efficiently when needed. They make the material interactive and fun. most importantly my largest class was about 25 students!

    Tips for prospective students

Visit the campus because it is unlike any other school you will ever lay your eyes on! I was sold the minute I set foot on the beautiful campus. Also, keep your options open and explore every school that may or may not be recruiting you. Go somewhere where you feel like home.

    In three sentences

High Point is a wonderful inspiring school that makes you want to learn and achieve your dreams. The staff is so friendly and normally willing to help. Plus, you will never be bored on campus with all there is to do every single day.

    Greek Life

Greek Life is big on campus. The majority of kids on campus go greek.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is very high, but worth it. There is inclusive laundry, cable, huge dorms, a lot to eat on dining plans, and many activities through the school.

    What to do for fun

The university sponsors a lot of events both on and off of campus. They take you to basketball games, Winter Light Festivals, and many more activities.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are absolutely amazing, and huge. Even the bad dorms are nicer than those at your average college. My dorm has a king sized bed, and came equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, and a lot of storage space.

    Academic Rigor

The classes can be challenging as far as the amount of work that you are given, but the difficulty of the work is reasonable. If you get ahead and stay organized you'll succeed in any class.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you stay organized and keep close contact with your professors through email. Check your grades often on Blackboard! Always check RateMyProfessor.com before signing up for a class.

Millions of activities set up by the school and of course greek life and student run clubs.

    Food and Dining

Many options. High Point makes eating healthy easy and fun!

    Dorm Life

    The facilities are unprecedented.

    Tips for prospective students

High Point is not a party school so do not get your hopes up. Come prepared to deal with the more snobby affluent people, but there are very nice people. Study Hard, High Point may be easier to get into but the classes are hard!

    In three sentences

High Point provides an amazing environment for its students to grow and prosper. High Point does not give much financial aid, so for those who are reliant on getting scholarships, High Point is not the school for them. High Point's teachers are the most caring and influential people I have ever come across.

    Campus Safety

The security on campus is very present, I have never felt unsafe while on High Point's campus

    Bang for the buck

The price is a bit expensive but it is a private school, the dorms and dining are incredible, and there is so much that is included in the price of enrollment. I believe that I am receiving opportunities here that I would not be offered anywhere else.

    What to do for fun

While the town of HIgh Point may not have much to offer, the campus activities team does so much for its students and offers it for free. They even take students on bus trips to amusement parks and other attractions.

    Food and Dining

Even for a small school, there are so many options for eating. The dining program really listens to students and takes suggestions. There are a ton of healthy but also delicious options.

    Dorm Life

High Point has some of the best student accommodations I have ever seen. I know my first apartment after school will not even compare to where I lived at High Point.

    Academic Rigor

Students are held to a high standard but help is always available if you need it

    Campus Safety

I feel safe at all times on campus. The campus security is always patrolling the campus and the campus security gate guards make sure that each person riding into campus has been cleared by them.

    Greek Life

As freshman, a student at High Point University cannot rush until the spring semester of their freshman year. This gives students time to adjust and check out the sororities and fraternities at HPU. Greek Life is a great option to look into if a student is interested.

    Clubs and Activities

HPU always has activities, club meetings, and events occurring. Students may even seem overwhelmed by the overload of opportunities and options they have. The most important thing is that a student should try some of the things they are interested in and choose a couple to focus on.

    Bang for the buck

There is absolutely no school compared to HPU. When speaking of getting the most bang for the buck, High Point University maximizes this saying. Students can stop by a mid-morning kiosk to receive a free breakfast treat, an ice cream truck in the warm weather, and the amount of free HPU gear we get makes each student a live advertisement for the school.

    What to do for fun

The surrounding areas of HPU include High Point, Jamestown, Greensboro, and Winston Salem. The optimal location of the school provides students with shopping, adventure, theatrical, and laid-back entertainment venues to seek out at any time. Growing up in an area close to HPU, the options are endless of activities to do for fun.

    Food and Dining

Amazing!!! The endless options of dining offered at High Point University can leave a person in awe. The school gives the students many healthy choices as far as food. As always, there is the go-to Starbucks at two locations on campus.

    Dorm Life

Personally, I cannot attest to the quality of the dorm life at HPU. I commute to HPU due to the close proximity in which I live to the school. The one piece of information that I have learned is HPU accommodates to many different living styles and has the most luxurious dorm living any university could ever provide.

    Academic Rigor

The academics at High Point are phenomenal; the faculty is dedicated to the students at the University wholly. The academic workload varies from class to class but overall is not too overwhelming. If you ever need assistance with anything in a course, there a multiple resources to aid in helping you.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to keep track of all deadlines for applications, scholarships, etc. Dates can sneak up on students and the key to success is organization!

    Campus Safety

No one is allowed on campus without a student ID it is a gated campus

    Greek Life

Big - they have been kicking off almost all fraternities recently replacing them with start up frats that are dry and only have about 10 people in them.

    Bang for the buck

Overpriced - the fines even out everything that is free you can get a fine for cursing at this school.

    What to do for fun

Off campus. Parties on campus get broken up by midnight and you are fined for any underage drinking or any noise.

    Food and Dining

Steakhouse is good. You basically have to have a meal plan to attend school so the food gets old after a while. Most food is not very good or nutritious.

    Dorm Life

Pretty dorms but you must live there until you are a senior and you must have a meal plan. Not much freedom.

    Academic Rigor

Not very difficult unless you're an interior design major

    Tips for prospective students

Literally only go to this school if you don't care about night life whatsoever. You have to live on campus until you're senior year. The school does this to have complete control over the entire student body. People that throw parties get kicked out of where they live and separated from their roommates. This school only cares about image and freshmen.

    In three sentences

Pretty School. Night life is horrible. Fines for basically everything which equals out the free stuff. Many who go here feel as though they are in boarding school

    Campus Safety

Campus security is always at hand to help. The gated school makes you feel secure and with the amount of lights on at night it is almost brighter than daytime so you never have to worry. Campus security keeps everyone secure but isn't mean and breaking up parties like on other campuses. They are just there to help you.

    Clubs and Activities

So many clubs to enjoy from Greek Life, Club and Intramural sports, academic clubs, and unusual clubs. In my freshman year I joined many clubs, many of them service organizations and even took on a few leadership roles and became president of an academic honors organization.

Great for these types of students

Great for preppy hard working students who appreciate the finer things in life

    Bang for the buck

Considering that High Point is all inclusive tuition is definitely worth it. You get all the academic amenities such as the communications building and music rooms. And all the fun amenities like the steakhouse and arcade. Throw in all the free food at the kiosks and movies and you get the biggest bang for your buck. Also, scholarships are fairly easy to secure so that reduces tuition.

    What to do for fun

Campus activities are abundant. CAT- the campus activities team offers many on campus and off campus activities for free. Of course you also have the many amenities, such as pools, arcade, theater with new movies and free popcorn and the beautiful grassy campus. The city of High Point doesn't offer much but there are some hidden gems and Greensboro and it's many restaurants, concerts, and bars is nearby.

    Food and Dining

The food at High Point is top-notch. Besides the steakhouse, which is obviously amazing, the dining locations offer many tasty options. Compared to other colleges High Point has many more dining locations. These range from fresh veggies at the Farmer's Market, burgers at The Point sportsbar, or bagels at the Bakery. And of course, HPU's dining plan is very generous. You get meals as well as dollars to spend in the campus Starbucks and convience store. What really sets HPU dining apart though is the employees. Campus employees really care for the students and remember your name and usual.

    Dorm Life

Just look at any picture of HPU's dorms and it is obvious that they are luxurious. For my freshman year I stayed in York hall, the Honor's apartment style living dorm. Three girls and I shared a large full size kitchen and living room. We each had our own LARGE room and we had two large bathrooms each with a shower, toilet and double vanity. No matter where you live on campus you can be sure you will be living in the largest dorms of any college and have all upgraded amenities. In all dorms there is laundry rooms, free of course, and a business center with computers and free printing. When you live on campus everything is all inclusive or as they call it a cash free campus. Dorms also hold fun movie nights, free food parties, etc.

    Academic Rigor

High Point has a reputation for not having the highest academic rigor and that was something I was really worried about as I entered school. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the academics at High Point. The classes can be challenging, especially the honors classes. Also, the teachers are always readily available to help and honestly care about their students. Having small class sizes and personable teachers really tailor the class to fit your academic level.

    Tips for prospective students

Talk to your admission counselor as often as possible. They will help you through the admissions process as well as securing scholarships. Apply for the Presidential Scholarship. DO IT! Scholarships are fairly easy to obtain and the presidential scholarship weekend is a great way to meet other prospective students.
