You really make your own fun. There's a nerf club, and a group plays murder in the dark every week in Paine... Letchworth state park is nearby...

I like to go for walks on the many quiet trails or work out at the gym. There are also a lot of campus-wide activities to participate in.

There is rather really nothing around, but there is a Subway and a China Star. There is also a beautiful park, as well as small towns with some stores.

STUFF!

There are concerts, sporting events, and other random events throughout the semester. The dorms and floors have events, and CAB (Campus Activities Board) often has events. We have speakers often as well, many of whom share wonderful messages. If you think Christian worship is fun, then we have many different types and styles of worship that you can participate in.

There are many activities right on campus in which anyone can participate.

Houghton College is in the middle of nowhere which means one has to make their own fun, which any country grown person will know how that is. There are local swimming holes, trails through the woods (Allegany State Park is just down the road about 15 minutes), and all the people on campus. The college has a great Student Life team which work to organize fun things on campus like celebrations (Homecoming), campus-wide movie nights, and Spot (a student-comedy night once each semester). Houghton does have a variety of clubs which regularly meet. The drama clubs regularly perform and they tend to be quite good. The school has an equestrian center for horseriders. Olean - the nearest town - is one half hour away which is where most students go shopping and see a movie. Buffalo - the closest city - is one hour away; most students go to Buffalo to get out of the country.

At Houghton College, since it is slightly remote you learn to become inventive with your free time. Games, movies, bowling, skateboarding, biking, skating, walking, going to the gym, concerts, the art shows, or just laying out on the grass and enjoying the day.
