There is a small town nearby called Eureka. It is very quaint. As far as I know, there isn't much to do around this area, but the beach is close.

Best Eating Places: APD, Los Bagels, Sushi Tao, Sushi Spot, Hunan, Tony's , Don's Donuts. Very few fast food places, a preservation law prevents them from building any new ones. Watch a Movie: The Minor, Mill Creek Cinema, Broadway Cinema 8, Arcata Theater Lounge Outdoors: Moonstone Beach, Clam Beach, Arcata Community Forest, Redwood Park, National Park, Strawberry Rock, Patrick's Point, Fern Canyon and much more. Plus tons of on campus activities and entertainment from fire shows to concerts to music and art performances.

There isn't much to do at HSU other than go on hikes, ride bike, and many other door things. The school does offer many outside activities for students. But its a great place to live.

It honestly takes about a minute or two to get to the forest which has the best view of the stars at night. There are always college parties and there are two theaters close by that charge about $6. They might be small but they have history. The beaches in the area are unlike any I've ever seen. You could go hiking, camping, or just ride your bicycle around the town.
