From its campus on Chicago’s south side, the Illinois College of Optometry is America’s first optometry institution and also its largest. The core curriculum at ICO features intensive coursework over students’ first three years in subjects such as ocular anatomy and physiology and multiple externships in their fourth year. Students also participate in clinical studies with patients at the Illinois Eye Institute beginning with their first year of enrollment. The campus is just a couple of blocks from the CTA train service which provides access to Chicago’s numerous museums and attractions.
