Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who like attention from Professors and like one on one. Students who like more familiar, small settings. Anyone who wants a really good education at a much better price!
Tips for prospective students Apply online for as many things as you can and save all your logins. Also, when ever you have questions go in person and always try to see the same people. When on campus, speak up...say hi, smile...when the staff learns who you are life is a lot easier! Plus, if you want good parking the first two weeks of class, show up early...dont last minute try to park!!
Bang for the buck The cost is much less than other colleges! Also, the great thing is that IRSC works with FAU, Harbor Branch, and tons of other facilites on professional levels. The education you get is in competition with some of Florida's top Universities. With the one on one, community, education level...definitely a Bang for the buck!
Am enjoying being here The social clubs and activities are great for a smaller campus, plus with the size way easier to make friends and learn your way around. People try to make you feel at home there.
Am learning a lot Professors are very educated and experienced in their fields! Also, tons of ways to get help or more info in classes that you are struggling in.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck The price is reasonable. Also, with it you are getting tutoring when ever you need it.
Am enjoying being here In the classes there are lot of opinions that bring up a lot of interesting discussions. Also, there are a lot of different people which make for a unique environment.
Am learning a lot Most of the teachers are great at explaining what they are teaching. Also, if you are confused, most of the professors explain the subject in a different way. From this, it is a lot easier to comprehend everything.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who aren't quite ready for university and plan on transferring out (most degrees are only offered as AA), students interested in the performing arts (the Theatre/Music/Dance programs at IRSC are hidden gems), and people who need to work outside of their coursework or have children.
Did enjoy being here It felt like the 13th grade but the theatre program made it worthwhile.
Did learn a lot Most of my professors really cared about their student's learning, if you were willing to do the work.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students All types of students would fit in here, unless you want a HUGE campus, a HUGE class, and no 1-on-1 attention.
Tips for prospective students Go here. It is a good way to start out the beginning of your college career. I would advise coming and getting your AA or BA here (they only offer BAs for certain programs though) and then after that you can easily transfer!
Bang for the buck Definitely! So much cheaper than universities and other colleges and you get a quality education!
Am enjoying being here I love it here! The teachers are great and so are my fellow students. It helps to be in band though too, it makes it more fun (or if you're in one of the sports too).
Am learning a lot The classes are a great size which is good because it will be easier to get 1-on-1 with your teacher. The teachers are great and I've learned a lot in my years here. Just as good as a public university, and it's cheaper!

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus is very secure, with security guards roaming the grounds at all times. never once have i considered the campus to be unsafe.
Bang for the buck this college is by far the best institute when it comes to getting your money's worth. the classes and books are inexpensive, and with the help of financial aid from the school, sometimes students end up on the receiving end of the finances.
Food and Dining the cafeteria at the main campus of irsc (in ft. pierce) has delicious food at decent prices. there are also vending machines in various locations, so in case you don't have time to stop by the student union, you can get a snack on the go. also, many of the other campuses have built-in brand name restaurants; for example, the saint lucie west campus houses a subway to dine at.
Dorm Life i cannot comment on dorm life, as i do not live in the dorms at irsc.
Academic Rigor the classes at indian river state college are challenging, but not impossible. it all depends on the class and the professor, really, but most of the time work is spread out evenly over the course of the semester, which helps the average student get their work done more efficiently.
In three sentences indian river state college is an incredible institution for students searching for a good local school. being the 3rd most affordable college in the nation, it is definitely the best choice for those looking to learn on a budget, while still maintaining quality in their education. i would highly recommend this college to anyone.

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus patrol is always around. irsc has code blue phones scattered around every campus location. if there is an emergency, irsc will send an automated message to students' cell phone numbers that are on record.
Greek Life phi theta kappa is the only somewhat greek club the is available for students with a 3.5 or higher, by invite only.
Clubs and Activities there are a wide variety of clubs like the spanish club, science club, campus coalition government, phi theta kappa, etc.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus irsc just opened a nuclear engineering/technology building just this year. it hasn't even had it's opening ceremony yet! it's the only nuclear engineering/technology center in the region!
Bang for the buck there are so many steals are irsc, like the price per credit hour for classes, discounts on software like microsoft office, the price of books is more reasonable than at a university, and accessibility to professors is great.
What to do for fun the beach is always and option, or going down to palm beach, fort lauderdale, or miami if gas isn't an issue.
Food and Dining the food is ok, but there are better options, like big apple's pizza across the street, the tiki bar, or someplace else.
Dorm Life i don't know much about dorm life because i stay with my parents, but i haven't heard any complaints from students since i've been at indian river.
Academic Rigor classes can be very challenging depending on the professor or teacher. some professors are lax and some are very hard, especially in upper level courses, such as courses taken for pre-med and engineering students. irsc's rigor shouldn't be judged by the surrounding community or by its small campus size (which rapidly growing).
Tips for prospective students use your resources and get to know people in all the major departments, like financial aid. also, get up on time to get adequate parking to be on time for class because most professors do take attendance. if you are planning to sign up for work-study, then fill out the application and fafsa very early so that you get a chance. irsc also offers part-time jobs as an irsc employee that pays more that financial-aid based work-study. students should try to get involved in the student support services program, which helps students with financial aid tips, picking out classes and so on.
In three sentences indian river is the #1 most affordable college in the us, and students always get their monies worth by attending. the small class sizes are perfect for getting involved in lectures and labs, and for personal relationships with the professors and teachers. indian river may be a growing college, but irsc has state-of-the-art technology that makes earning a degree very worthwhile.

Categories Comments What to do for fun you can interact with all typed of people and grain greater contacts and friends.
Food and Dining i have heard the the cafeteria is good, but i have not actually eaten there. but there is chain restaurants like subway and etc.
Dorm Life from i have heard, dorm life creates a lot of opportunities to interact and get to know the student body.
Academic Rigor it's rigorous, but with hard work and dedication you can pursue a lot of achievements.
Tips for prospective students it's a great school. if you work full time or have a family to take care of, they offer so many different opportunities for you to earn and reach a greater education. you can base school around your life.
In three sentences indian river state college is a great school. it started out as a small 2 year college which served well for the community and created a lot of opportunities for people. now it has expanded to a 4 year school and offers bachelor degrees in many majors.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus police are amazing. I have personally been able to experience their concern for the safety of the student. Having taken a night class, I have seen them watching the parking lots and locking the classrooms. They respond immediately to concerns. One of the officers even gave my classroom his cell phone number so that we could reach him if we had any problems.
Bang for the buck The student services centers at IRSC are really great. Counselors will help you make sure that you apply for scholarships and work out the best way to pay for your education. Classes are not expensive at all, especially for Florida residents. For what you pay, you get awesome instructors, comfortable classrooms, and beautiful campuses.
What to do for fun The St. Lucie West campus is located by a movie theater, a frozen yogurt shop, and a Superplay USA, which contains a bowling alley, batting cages, a restaurant, laser tag, and mini golf. That's only one campus! The other campuses are also located near the main hubs of their respective cities so that students don't have to travel far to blow off some steam.
Food and Dining The school campuses are all located within cities with restaurants within walking distance. There are fast food restaurants, but there are also nicer dining spots, such as Chili's, Ruby Tuesday, Big Apple, and many others. Also, some of the campuses have restaurants in them, such as Subway. The main campus has a cafeteria that serves meals that are quite tasty.
Dorm Life The school is located near to my family's home, so I do not live in a dorm. However, I do know of students that make use of the school's dormitories. These students claim that the school's dorms are a wonderful provision. The monthly rent includes utilities, cable, and phone service. The dorms are located adjacent to the main campus, which allows the students to be close to their classrooms. The space is conducive to studying, furnished with desks and other arrangements for the students to be able to have quiet time. The dorms are right in the city of Fort Pierce, near beaches and downtown city life, which makes weekends and nights fun.
Academic Rigor The coursework is just above average. You don't feel over worked, but you will feel like your brain is being worked. The load is not overly hard, but it isn't easy either. Many of the teachers use common knowledge and understanding to help you to relate the information so that it comes naturally to your memory.
Tips for prospective students Before you register with a teacher, ask other students about the class and see if you can find people who have already taken the class with the professor. That will help you to make sure that you find the right fit for your learning style. Also, don't wait until the last minute to register, because you may end up in a classroom, on a campus, or with a professor that does not work for you.
In three sentences This school has an unparalleled hometown feel to it. You will find that the majority of the professors are so passionate about what they teach that you will begin to feel some of that passion within yourself. The campuses are all gorgeous and accessible to students from all walks of life.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Always patrolling.
Clubs and Activities Offered but not greatly important to student life.
Great for these types of students Local.
Bang for the buck Good for instate students. I am an out of state student and the quality is not worth $500/credit.
What to do for fun I commute and do not live in Fort Pierce.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to stay on top of deadlines for course registration. Classes fill up very quickly.
In three sentences Teachers are mixed, some are great others are terrible. Advising is a nightmare, long waits and little program knowledge. Very hard to get needed information, and often the information requested is wrong.

Bang for the buck Some of the most affordable tuition in the state!
What to do for fun The college has a black box theatre that is pretty good. There are also a number of clubs for students.
Food and Dining Great selection, especially on the Clark Learning Center campus
Dorm Life I have heard that dorm life is good, but I am living off campus.
Academic Rigor The classes can be challenging, but the professors are willing to take the time to answer your questions
Tips for prospective students The financial aid and academic advising offices become very busy around semester registration dates. Take careful notes and follow up with your advisors to expedite your progress (the advisors will appreciate it)
In three sentences IRSC is a great school to attend, whether you are planning to transfer to university or complete a four-year degree on the local campus. The tuition is very reasonable and the course selection is fairly comprehensive. Everyone is very helpful -- from the academic advisors, to the classroom professors and the teachers helping out in the study labs.

Tips for prospective students Register early to get the best classes. The week before classes start is the busiest so try to avoid going in at that time, or get there early. Read the books and come to class!

Categories Comments Campus Safety I always felt safe.
Bang for the buck Amazing! The classes are really cheap. Please take as many classes as you can there. It saves you so much money!
What to do for fun I didn't really study at the main campus, I was more at Chastain. I would hang out with friends in between classes.
Food and Dining I thought that the food at the Chastain Campus was amazing! And so cheap.
Dorm Life I didn't stay in the dorms.
Academic Rigor I loved it there and I feel like I learned so much. I take with me the things that I learned at IRSC.
Tips for prospective students You can learn a lot of the teachers there and I would recommend that. Always try your hardest, there are people that will help you in the student center if you are stuck in Math, Science, English etc.
In three sentences I think that IRSC is great. I learned a lot there. I loved most of the teachers there.

Categories Comments Greek Life Toga Toga!!!
Bang for the buck It's more cost than Bervard C.C by $20. per credit hour but you get what you pay for no matter where you are. I like Indian River State College so far. I felt like they wanted to treat me rite. Clean facility... Everyone was friendly :). Short wait time.
Food and Dining Didn't have any food, but I know it's important.
Tips for prospective students If you're a student that has filled out a FAFSA and plan on attending, make sure you bring in your federal taxes, W2s, and a verification worksheet for financial aid. Go to there website and apply it's real easy and no cost. I am a transfer student from AZ so I've had to wait 1.5 years to qualify for in-state.... if you're in this boat then you will need to submit all of your other transcripts + H.S. All in all it seemed like a nice place to continue my education b/c I checked out Bervard C.C... and it was really crowded + when I was waiting for the financial aid office their TV had Price is Rite on.... I though it was supposed to be an institute for higher education!
In three sentences The atmosphere there was good. Good help when asking questions, friendly people. Less students so that means more attention for yourself.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Mueller campus is next to a high school. The only thing you have to worry about is an old person driving through!
Greek Life There is... Wi-Fi!
Clubs and Activities There are sports teams, but there isn't much in terms team spirit (at the Mueller campus)
Great for these types of students Kids who want to get their two year before going to a university. Kids who are on a tight budget. Kids who aren't ready to move out yet.
Bang for the buck Can't get any better than these prices!
What to do for fun The lobby is a pretty nice place to sit and do homework or wait for your next class. Most of the people that relax in there are cool. There are no activities on campus (It is basically a community college)
Food and Dining Snack machines, soda machines, and a microwave are all you can expect from this school.
Dorm Life I have heard their are dorms at IRSC, but just live at home. I would not know this category.
Academic Rigor Most of the classes I took had a pretty good expectation level for it's students. The biggest thing to look out for is the attendance requirements. Not too many universities have these, so actually being forced to go to class makes school pretty tedious.
Tips for prospective students Do your best to get financial aid assistance! Pell Grants and Financial Aid have made going through college a pretty easy way to get money and work towards my degree.
In three sentences If I had to say one word about Indian River State College, it would be AFFORDABLE. Through IRSC's low charges per credit hour and Pell Grant, I was actually able to MAKE $2000+ a semester! But just because it is affordable does not mean the teachers are any less skilled at their jobs. I have had plenty of great teachers though my journey through college, and with smaller class sizes it has been easy to get on a personal level with most of these people. Overall, IRSC won't give you that traditional University Experience, but if you are on a tight budget (and with this economy, who isn't?) I would highly recommend IRSC for anyone's education!

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are always security guards on patrol and not to mention a cop always nearby or in the parking lot. Also to make sure at night the parking lots are lit up well and some security cameras and emergency call booths.
Great for these types of students That are looking for diversity in age as well as race. Not to mention classrooms are usually never overly crowded.
Bang for the buck You get the same kind of education that you would get in any other college as well as for less.
What to do for fun There are beaches on either side both are about a 15 minute drive. Plenty of boat ramps to go to the sandbars. An abundance of restaurants, and activities such as bowling, golfing, and paintball tournaments nearby.
Food and Dining The cafeteria food that they have to average. Its going be some fancy gourmet.
Dorm Life I do not believe they have a dorm. However students tend to live within walking or 2 minute drive from the campus so there people that may split housing costs.
Academic Rigor It depends on what you majoring in. If it requires rigorous course work such as physical therapy then it will be held up to standard.
Tips for prospective students If your going to be attending this school I believe it will be a good idea to find a small house nearby and split housing cost, and not to worry to much.
In three sentences Indian River State College is a very low-key however nice school that provides diversity as well as a easy going college life. They have a few campuses the main one being Fort Pierce which is absolutely gorgeous with new buildings and provides excellent hands on opportunities. The majority of the staff help out as much as possible and make themselves always available to get a hold of.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The security guards are amazing and if you are living in the dorms make these guys your friends because they are the people you go to if you or your roommates need anything!
Greek Life No Greek Life
Great for these types of students Athletes are well taken care of here and scholarships left and right!
Bang for the buck AFFORDABLE!
What to do for fun There is events within the city and a mall in either direction. Anything you want to do you can because most things are within 30 minutes away. There is a wonderful beach and Orlando is an hour and a half away which has amusement parks.
Food and Dining There is no meal plan but the cafe has amazing food and almost anything any kind of person could want.
Dorm Life Indian River State does not have dorms but it does have private housing, which is normally used for athletes. Each person gets their own room with a common room shared with three other people. They are set up like an apartment with a kitchen and a restroom that is shared between suite mates.
Academic Rigor This college tries to teach the students on what they need to know to be able to get an amazing job. Therefore, the college is there to help the student's best interest.
Tips for prospective students For any Biology majors or other science majors, this school is all for science study hard and start studying early you will need it. The professor at Indian River State try to give you work that will help you so to pass the class you must do everything. Finally, the professors here love helping their students during and after class so if you need help go speak with your professor or you can even go to the library's lab for help.
In three sentences Indian River State is a wonderful school because it has the work load and experienced professors like a large university. What makes Indian River a top school is the professors have done their craft and now teach it. Passion from the professors and other students to learn the material makes this school an incredible place to learn.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are buttons all over the campus to press in case of emergency as well as police in IRSC case it is the Florida Atlantic University Police since the two share campuses.
Clubs and Activities My usual activities writing short stories, doing graphic design, and working at my job (Sbarro). I uses to be in the Anime club but I had to leave due to having to work on Fridays the day the club meets.
Great for these types of students Indian River State College is great for all types of student because there are a lot of different people here who are from all over the world that would love to meet you. There are all kinds of cultures that you'll find someone who you fit in with and there are people who are interested in what you are so all you have to do is find out what do I like.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Always before picking my classes, I always check the teacher on http://blog.ratemyprofessors.com/ and this is also follow done by many other students.
Bang for the buck 1) Buy used textbooks or rent your textbooks 2) Apply for scholarships 3) Save your money and calculate out your expenses for the month 4) If you go to a school with multiple campuses get your classes on the campus you live on.
What to do for fun 1) Join the different clubs and meet new people 2) Go to the library 3) Go to the student lounge or cafeteria 4) Hang out with your friends
Food and Dining The food is alright, I prefer to go off campus for dining and eat out with friends by going to Big Apple Pizza or 5 Guys. The dining room is really nice with plenty of room to have your books, note, and work on the table to study.
Dorm Life I don't live in the dorms, I live at home with my parents but from what I've hard from those who do live in the dorms it's really nice and a great way to live as well as experience college.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is rather interesting, at the end of each semester the student review the teachers telling the school how they felt the teacher did and the school takes the opinion of the students. The students also express themselves on Rate My Professor to tell those coming out those teachers and give them a heads up on to expect. Student who want to learn and are willing to make the effort tend to do better than those who just sit there and text the entire time and those who are willing to work hard tend not to have a problem with teacher however, there are some cases were the teacher really is awful and the student drop the class, or end up failing because the teacher is terrible. It all depends on the student and the teacher.
Tips for prospective students 1) Take your work seriously 2) Take good notes in class 3) Review your notes daily 4) Make friends and create study groups 5) Look over each others notes 6) Relax and don't stress yourself out.
In three sentences Indian River State College is a great school to attend because the students take their education very seriously and are willing to work hard to achieve their goals. Another great thing about Indian River is there are teachers that care about the student¢s education and are willing to help them through tough times. There are a lot of things to do on the campus and plenty of clubs to join as well some of the greatest people you will ever meet.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Be careful when taking night classes. Park close to other cars and lock all doors.
Clubs and Activities There are so many things to become involved with. If you can find the time, there are many sports and clubs to join.
Great for these types of students The free tutoring is something I love. For the students who struggle in certain subjects, tutoring is a must. You will find students and staff working together to study and assist each other.
Bang for the buck Don't forget that the bookstore has a buy back period for gently used textbooks. It is a great way to earn a little cash for something that will never be used again by you.
What to do for fun There are all kinds of activities and clubs for students to get involved with at Indian River State College. From sports to arts, we have it all.
Food and Dining There are great food options in the cafeteria such as Subway. It is convenient and healthy for those students who can't find time to eat at home.
Dorm Life I have never met anyone at Indian River State who lives on campus. Most of the students live locally.
Academic Rigor Indian River State College is not a difficult school to say the least. It is a great transition from high school to college without being overwhelmed. As long as you attend, study, and take advantage of the services and tools provided for student success, you will pass with flying colors.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to take full advantage of the free tutoring in the testing centers. It helped me so much when I was taking math courses. Also, use the library to study in! Studying at home is difficult due to the many distractions like phones, facebook, and relatives.
In three sentences Indian River State College is accomadating. I've never been to any other community college with an overall, wonderful and extremely helpful staff. The class sizes are small and the teachers are hands on.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never felt unsafe at this campus or any of the satelite campuses. There is always security on campus and they are easily accessible.
Greek Life I haven't heard anything about fraternities/sororities.
Clubs and Activities These don't seem very organized to me. I thought about joining, but there seems to be more talk about getting a project going than actually starting one, so I just volunteer in the community.
Great for these types of students Any and all students will be a good fit here. I've seen all ages, races, creeds and backgrounds. All you have to be to fit in here is interested in an education.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a covered picnic area in front of the pool building where a lot of different activities happen. A few weeks ago they had a giant waterslide set up. They also have an activity there during Earth day.
Bang for the buck You can tell the Dept. Heads put a lot of thought into their programs. There is practical application that, as an intern, I use and am grateful for. I know that I will use what I learn
What to do for fun Go to the beach! The campus is about a 10 minute drive from the beach. The mall is about 30-40 minutes away. Downtown in Fort Pierce they have FridayFest which is really cool. There are bands and people selling stuff and, of course, there's the Tiki Bar.
Food and Dining Gross, gross, gross! Vending machines rock but the cafeteria food is raunchy. There is a Burger King and a WalMart with a Subway as well as some local restaurants. All are about 1-2 miles from campus. Bring a bike or a car.
Dorm Life I live locally so this doesn't apply, but I've never heard complaints from my friends who live there. I've visited a couple of times and they always seem clean and well lit at night.
Academic Rigor This part depends on your major; mine is nursing and it's tough! I've talked to others taking less intense classes and they would probably give 3 stars here. It also depends on how diligent you are in your studies.
Tips for prospective students It's an inexpensive way to begin a secondary education, especially if you haven't landed a major. IRSC has the 3rd least expensive tuition in the nation and, in my opinion, some of the best instructors. In the past few years, there are even several programs that extend to the baccalaureate level.
In three sentences IRSC is a pretty great campus with an eclectic mix of students ranging from H.S. to middle aged and beyond. The school is awesome, but parking sucks! Staff and instructors get A+ from me; they're always very helpful and knowledgeable.

Clubs and Activities Plenty of clubs and activities to fill all or any needs for extracurriculars.
Great for these types of students Computer science and design majors.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The annual chug a thon. Volunteers chug a gallon of whole milk then run a two mile obstacle course. For the past two years i have been the DJ for the event.
Bang for the buck Would not change schools for any reason at all. Great education without breaking the bank.
What to do for fun In my school we have a studio open to students in my degree program. On our time off we will work on live recordings of bands or make video in front of the green screen.
Food and Dining The dining area is very comfortable and beautiful. The food is college food nothing special but gets the job done in between long classes.
Dorm Life I live off campus so i am not applicable to answer this question.
Academic Rigor Classes are difficult but you can easily pass all classes with proper time spent to study and apply yourself to the projects.
Tips for prospective students Be serious about your education and your teachers will be serious about helping you get a job. The more you work in the field while you learn is also great for your future in a career.

Food and Dining Food and dining is very good!
Dorm Life I cannot answers this. I do not and have never lived in a dorm.
Academic Rigor I have only taken two classes in the past and signed up for my next two. The rigor seems pretty basic and what you would expect from any college. My best tip I received that I could pass on, is to read all the reviews at http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ on your corresponding professors.
Tips for prospective students Do not bother calling to speak to staff. I have rendered it stressful and useless based on numerous phone calls. I find it more resourceful to just go in and speak to counselors in person. They cannot rush you off the phone that way.
In three sentences Staff is not very helpful, especially by phone. Beautiful campus and convenient locations. Flexible class schedules.

Great for these types of students Students looking to save some money or students looking to do this and transfer. If you're looking for a school with limited degree programs you will be ok.
Bang for the buck As an in-state student the tuition is extremely affordable but out of state is kind of expensive for a state college. Receive a very good education for the most part
What to do for fun Not much
Food and Dining The Cafe at the main campus is amazing. Love their food and very reasonably priced. There is no set cafeteria at the Vero Campus and as far as I know not at any of the other campuses but there are places nearby to get a bite
Dorm Life They have dorms, not very well known by students. Should offer more options for student housing. The dorms they currently have are not the greatest. Website makes them out to be nice but this is not the case.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to study! Become very familar with Angel and MyIRSC. If you plan on calling any of the offices plan on having a while because you will be on hold for a while. Also, plan on having several hours if going in too.

Food and Dining The school is down from one of the major highways so food is not far to get too.
Dorm Life I have my own place.
Academic Rigor Great!!! Teachers
Tips for prospective students Get a one man/woman that you like a deal with them. Even if you have to go to the Main Campus to get something its worth the ride.
In three sentences I rate Indian River State College a 7 out of 10. The reason why I say that because yes the school is cheaper/fianacial purpose, but you feel that way because the hole fiancial aid and advisors could be more helpful. You shouldn't feel like your getting on there nerves. You come to school for a reason not just as a on looker. That I wished they could up grade on then I may move the number up to 8.5 or so.

What to do for fun There are many clubs to join or you can just hang out with friends.
Food and Dining The food in the cafeteria isn't that bad. You have many options to choose from, burgers, salads, wraps, and many more.
Dorm Life Indian River State college does give you an option to live in dorms but I haven't experienced it.
Academic Rigor Many programs require you to pass all classes with at least a C, but not all. Depending on what you want to do, courses may be harder or easier. You really have to maintain a good grade to easily get into certain program or career.
Tips for prospective students This is a great school. But if you're going into health, be prepared to study! The science classes here are said to be really hard.

Clubs and Activities Human Services Club CCG International Students Veterans to name a few.
Great for these types of students Basketball players, (male and female teams) swim teams, volleyball teams...GO PIONEERS!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Public Safety Building (PSB). Reason: Strange to drive down the road and to see the tail of a plane stuck in a body of water. Fire, screeching tires, cadence being called out...PSB is the hub of the treasure coast for the fire departments, law enforcement and criminal justice classes that are held here every semester.
Bang for the buck Tuition went up 5% on an average, IRSC went up 3% and you still get the same education. Many new Bachelor level programs have been recently added.
What to do for fun Beach, clubs, activities, many volunteer opportunities.
Dorm Life I live off campus, however, the set up is very cool.
Tips for prospective students Awesome athletes, inviting swimming pool and swim teams, great counselors and teachers and support staff. The beach is not far, try it, you will love it. Dr. Massey is approachable.
In three sentences I love IRSC for many reasons, however, a couple of them are the classroom sizes are intimate enough where I get my questions answered and large enough to have diversified information each time I am there. Another reason is that my professors are full of experiences that only help to enrich my college experience, and I feel fully prepared to work in corporate America. IRSC is also the best kept secret in the nation, military friendly, many clubs and events, great speakers and it seems as if every semester there is something new to learn about my college. I love it here. :)

Great for these types of students Working, parents, all ages, fresh from high school or even years since school.
Bang for the buck Cheap way to go! Rates top affordable schools in the U.S.
What to do for fun Join clubs, (good ones, because some are poorly ran) Attend school events, volunteer and the beach is not too far from campus!
Food and Dining Cafeteria is nice and a great way to meet other students and staff. Many choices and reasonable prices.
Dorm Life Dorms are old and look like prison pods but in order to get to know people and really experience college life I recommend staying in the dorms! If you don't, you are really missing out!
Academic Rigor Many professors are great! But, there are a lot of hard ones. Your grade not only depends on you, but your teachers as well so be sure to pick one that doesnt have a horrible rating. The wait to speak to an adviser can be over 2 hours long and while waiting you get to watch most of them walk around socializing instead of calling names to help students. Many advisers aren't helpful. Ive been told many different things by different ones. When courses are released, most all will be gone just an hour after release. Cause of too many students and not enough classes offered.
Tips for prospective students Join clubs, go to school events, eat in the cafeteria, live in the dorms. And ALWAYS use ratemyprofessor to pick classes.
In three sentences Great school for the most part. Needs some improving but it really has come a long way! Affordable and if you try hard to be involved it can be a great college experience!

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are security guards patrolling all over campus to keep students safe and help with parking all day and night. Also at least one sheriff's that patrols during the busier times of the day.
Clubs and Activities I am not currently in any of this college's clubs.
Great for these types of students This college is good for students that live in the area and want the convenience of not having to move away for college.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Financial Aid department is the most unusual place on campus. Their staff members make students do the most ridiculous things to try and get there financial aid. Some students at this college sign up for classes just to get financial aid and the day after the drop add period they never come to class again. But students that have all A's they make jump through hoops but they are never satisfied. That is unusual to me.
Bang for the buck They have a great Automotive program and extremely amazing teachers, but they give the Automotive department all the colleges old hand-me-downs. From the one broken vending machine to the ripped up and cracked chairs. The automotive department is hidden behind a giant brick wall where no one going in or out can see, so the college doesn't need to put as much effort or expensive in it.
What to do for fun I'm in college there is no fun when your a dedicated full time student.
Food and Dining Nice sitting area and presentable kitchen.
Dorm Life I have not lived in the dorms to comment.
Academic Rigor Great teachers so far.

In three sentences Most teachers at this college are dedicated to there jobs. Campus presentation is almost flawless. But the student services departments need a lot of work.
