Since IUPUI is a commuter school, it is difficult to meet people. Take the time to meet the other students in your classes. Work hard in your classes and do your work on campus, it will help you to be more successful.

Get out of your shell! On weekends get a group together and walk downtown. Talking to random strangers on campus is a promising way to make more friends. Here it is acceptable to be who you really are and people are accepting of it. Go to study tables, and free events. Free t-shirts are their thing!

Always make an effort to show up in person to build relationships with the advisors. Plan your schedule ahead because of competitive parking and access to the on-campus resources.

Bring a bike, so many people ride them so it's not uncool or embarrassing, it actually saves you a lot of time! (Especially if you have those 9ams and want to sleep in an extra 10 minutes, but still want to make it to class on time) Go to class... you're paying for the class time and the education, and it's not cheap, so don't skip. Don't just study the night before or two nights before an exam, give yourself plenty of time to study for a quiz or exam, because it's only going to get harder. Learn to take notes on your laptop, it makes life so much easier! If you plan to live on campus, learn the bus routes before winter, because they will definitely be you're best friend when it's -15 degrees outside! Learn the tunnels, so when it is cold or rainy, or even too hot, you don't have to walk outside.
