Categories Comments Great for these types of students Kids who don't mind staying at home, and adults or teens who have families and can't afford to move away. It's a convenient way to keep a steady job AND go to school.
Tips for prospective students Talk with people you know who go to, or have gone, to KCC. Check out the campus after you've created your schedule so you know where everything is before you go to class- helps prevent those awkward, Hey stranger, do you know where ___ is? situations.
Bang for the buck While the classes are absolutely spectacular, the staff (not professors) on hand are so-so. I understand that they can't get to know everyone on a first-name basis, but they could at least act as if they really care. For timid people like myself, it makes all the difference!
Am enjoying being here Well, it isn't exactly like the college experience you grew up dreaming about. But the campus is clean, and easy to maneuver. No one gets in your business as long as you don't get in theirs. It's a breath of fresh air compared to high school.
Am learning a lot While Kellogg Community College (KCC) is exactly as it says- a community college, there are so many intelligent and experienced professors to assist you with your future career!

Categories Comments Campus Safety the campus security is does there jobs very well and persistent at making sure you feel as safe and welcomed as possible.
Greek Life the college has several greek affiliated organizations.
Clubs and Activities the list of clubs offered has something for everyone whether you are an artsy person or like music.
Great for these types of students in my opinion kcc is a great school to go to get your required classes out of the way before transferring to a 4-year. it is also good for people who are going back to school to a get a degree.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus kcc has an annual student get together where there is food and give away items, all the school clubs set up tables, and the school has other special events as well.
Bang for the buck the campus-wide vending machines are very reasonable.
What to do for fun the campus is only a short drive to the downtown area, where there are parks with running paths, there is a baseball field that is host to a minor league team called the battle creek bombers, the zoo, a mall, and with about a 20 minute commute you can go to kalamazoo.
Food and Dining throughout the building there are several eating areas including vending machines. surrounding the campus are fast food places like burger king and arby's.
Dorm Life kcc does not offer housing but there are several apartment complexes in the area.
Academic Rigor kcc wants their students to do the best they can and will help every inch of the way. if your grades take a hit, the staff will help guide and find tutors to make sure that you and your academic future turns out great.
Tips for prospective students a tip would be that if you want a good parking spot, try to get there during the slower hours of the day. also, another tip would be that if you get hungry expect to pay a little bit more but the food is great.
In three sentences they have a great library with a lot of computers. the staff is very friendly. the college also has gym facilities that the students can use.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students that are just coming out of school and students that are going back would love KCC. The institute is not so big, so it isn't overwhelming and the teachers are there constantly for the students so they can really understand the curriculum.
Bang for the buck The education a student receives can not be measured in dollar bills or time spent. The teachers are passionate about what they teach and they make sure that the students understand the curriculum.
Food and Dining The food is great and they have a nice spot for the students to eat. The prices are great and if you just want a cup of joe then there's even a Starbucks cafe in the building.
Dorm Life Kellogg has no dorm since it's only a two year community college.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor of KCC is not as bad as one might think. There are only a few teachers that believe that students need to work all day on homework from their class. The rest are pretty lenient on the amount of homework.
Tips for prospective students You should never be afraid to ask for help from a teacher; they are there to help you. The school is not that big so you don't have to worry about it being overwhelmed; and try to keep up with the class, because once you start slipping it can go downhill quick.
In three sentences Kellogg is an amazing college. The institute has all updated technologies to help with completing classes. The Teachers go out of their way to help the students succeed in getting their degrees.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Although you do not have to pass through metal detectors every time you enter the building, there is campus security, both in the building and outside patrolling the campus for the duration of campus hours.
Greek Life There are academic and honor societies, but since students do not live on campus, there are no sorority or fraternity houses.
Clubs and Activities The student population is very friendly and there are always academic or strictly social groups looking for new members. There's always something to do, and the bored students are the ones not looking hard enough.
Great for these types of students Kellogg Community College is a great starter college for students looking to eventually transfer to a 4 year, plus university but don't have the money immediately out of high school to do so. It's also ideal for students interested in staying close to home, even for adults that need to stay close to families and jobs.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Although perhaps not unusual, at the beginning of every fall semester there is a day that the school hosts numerous, fun-filled, hands-on activities to welcome new students and returning students to the campus.
Bang for the buck While tuition anywhere burns holes in students' pockets, community college is great place to knock out your requirement courses for less cash before you set foot on a university campus.
What to do for fun There are clubs and honor societies students have ample opportunity to participate in. There are also frequent extracurricular activities hosted in the commons or outside on campus where students are encouraged to socialize and have fun.
Food and Dining The food, although there are often multiple choices of cuisine, is ultimately cafeteria food and it can be quite expensive.
Dorm Life Kellogg Community College, being a community college, does not have dorm life. Students return home at the end of a long, educational day.
Academic Rigor Your academic schedule may be rigorous if you're a self-ambitious student with a hunger for knowledge and getting the most out of your educational opportunities. It really depends on how motivated you are to learn.
Tips for prospective students Even if you are undecided on a major, have in mind courses you will want to take because many classes are only offered during certain semesters and registration deadlines can sneak up on you fast. You don't want to waste any time or money taking filler courses.
In three sentences Kellogg Community College is a great first step in one's undergraduate education. The school allows for cheap but applicable exploration for students that are undecided on their future academic and professional plans. Also, it allows students to smoothly transcend into college life without having to deal with the stresses of leaving home.

Dorm Life What there are supposed to be dorms?
Academic Rigor Varies greatly depending on the instructor and class. Three stars.

In three sentences Small classes with caring instructors. Some instructors are better than others. Classes very greatly in difficulty from one instructor to the next.

Tips for prospective students Try night classes...they are longer but give you the opportunity to work all day and still take classes when its convenient. Also, most night classes are once a week so you have a whole week to do homework. Find a job near the college it works out great for scheduling work and school.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Well lit parking areas and people always around makes for less possibility for crime.
Greek Life Not much for Greek Life here. Maybe underground??
Clubs and Activities Clubs and campus activities makes for a less boring experience. Of course you have to attend first.
Great for these types of students Self-sufficient, easy-going, level headed people. Not much for rules or authority figures makes for a more private experience.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus College will be college.
Bang for the buck Very affordable and credits transfer fairly well for a community college. Even out-of-state tuition is cheaper than most bigger schools around me.
What to do for fun Battle Creek always has something going on for people in the a.m. or the p.m.
Food and Dining Food is adequate. Nothing beats the city food available.
Dorm Life No dorms here.
Academic Rigor Dependent upon credit hours. Doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary. I took 12 credit hours in the summer and didn't find it too hard.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to ask any question that you have and make sure the person answering your questions is the best person for the job. Sometimes it takes effort on your part to get all the required information that you need. Beware the stuff that you don't know you need and make sure you ask about anything that you may need in the future.
In three sentences Kellogg Community College is a good school for someone who has knowledge about college in general already. Some of the help required to be successful in school must be sought after and sometimes not readily available. Teachers seem to be good at what they do and are very friendly and helpful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety All of the campuses are very safe! I have never felt threatened walking in or out of the building.
Clubs and Activities They offer multiple activities for students to try out for! From sports to theater they have them all.
Great for these types of students If you are looking for your associates, to start general educations, or are a duel enrollment student ( high school student taking college classes) this school is just right! They cater to your needs knowing that education is key and that everyone has a busy life outside of school.
Bang for the buck This school is cheaper than most you will find. Not to mention that there are multiple ways to be apart of K.C.C if you can not reach one of the many campuses, they offer online classes as well!
What to do for fun Kellogg Community College is always having little events going on at their multiple campuses. They love to help the students out by giving away free prizes and having holiday events. Plus every few months they have a bus that takes students considering transferring to university around to explore the other campuses near by.
Food and Dining At the larger campuses Kellogg Community College offers a wide variety of food from the cafeteria, and for i have not eaten there, i hear the food is delicious and the atmosphere is perfect to study or catch up with friends.
Academic Rigor The Professors are generally willing to hear from the majority if they can move on faster or need to slow down the pace. I am learning at a good pace and actually understanding. The small class room sizes make it easy to communicate with the professor.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that you focus! Most of the professors allow breaks between the long class hours as long as everyone focuses for the required amount of time. If you are a duel enrollment student like ,myself this is the perfect place to go!
In three sentences This college is great for those with active lifestyles and still want to earn a degree; or like in my case start earning credits. Kellogg Community College is a clean friendly facility that is willing to help their students with their specific needs. This school is affordable and a great start to any career.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is campus security and doors are locked later in the evening. Windows on class doors are usually frosted so there is no visibility from outside of class. There are security cameras and locks in place to keep people out of places not meant for public. Security can be found inside by the front desk where Financial Aid is located. As well as outside in the parking lot cruising around. Campus security is more than adequate.
Clubs and Activities Clubs are offered and can be found from school athletics to stage theater. There are other clubs involving academics. As well as honors program and fraternal societies. There is also the Deans list as others schools have as well. Activities are always featured on the school website and bulletin board. School always has feature activities presented.
Great for these types of students Great for first time college students as well as those returning to school to pursue a higher education. Solid classes very easy going, students that stay focused will excel and succeed in class. Variety of students from different demographics. So nobody is singled out or seen as a minority. Great for students looking to transfer or obtain an associates.
Bang for the buck College is very affordable; relatively minor reliability issues with FAFSA. Bookstore has flexible hours can pre-order books to be ready upon arrival. Everyone one campus is friendly and has a bright attitude. Classes are transferable and in league with MACRAO. Would recommend to anybody indecisive about majors or which degree they want. Flexible class schedules and many different classes are provided. Especially a good school for those who need to brush up on academics. Overall a nice community college.
What to do for fun For fun on the campus there are always activities and clubs to join. There is the theater to go watch plays and there are always postings on the bulletin board for extra curricular activities. Outside of college there is the mall downtown and a variety of stores as well. There is the movie theater located at the mall there is also the water park Full Blast. There is the Binder Park Zoo that holds a variety of species. There is a museum of natural history and the new Fire keepers Casino. There is certainly always something to do in Battle creek.
Food and Dining There are a number of cafes and restaurants that can be found locally. There are more commercial dinners such as Buffalo Wild Wings and Apple Bee's that can be located at the mall. Also fast food restaurants are scattered around the city There is a vendor as well on campus that serves food.
Dorm Life The school offers apartments and other living situations however don't expect dorms as large as Michigan State. I am currently not living in any school offered campus apartments or dorms. I have no keen knowledge to offer on the subject.
Academic Rigor Classes are relativity easy only difficulty is maintaining turning in assignments on time. Midterms and finals can be stressful yet if appropriate time is measured to prepare and study it should be a breeze. The syllabus as always gives dates and times for assignments and class activities, so there should be no surprises. Teachers are easy going so turning in a late assignment should not be a big deal however be prepared for some points being docked. Overall the school is very easy on new students or those going back to college.
Tips for prospective students Tips most of my teachers and other classmates have shared with me all share a common theme. Always check your email's, make sure to thoroughly examine the class syllabus and watch your grade book. These tips should get you through the hectic life style of college with ease. Classes may appear simple however don't be fooled. Once you begin to procrastinate a build up of late assignments will harm your grade in the long run. School flies by at first so turn your assignments in on time. Better safe than sorry; not all teachers except late assignments. Follow these tips and you should do fine.
In three sentences Kellogg Community College is a cheap and affordable school with transferable credits in association with MACRAO, which is very convenient. This is a decent school to begin with, especially if you are undecided or planning to transfer to another institute. Money is well spent as an alternative to a campus or university.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Kellogg Community College is a place where you can feel safe while you are at the school. There are campus security at the school 24/7, and there is a school police officer that is there during the hours of the school day.
Greek Life I am not sure of any Greek life.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs that are offered at KCC. There are clubs such as True life (christian club), there are many sport clubs that you can be involved in, and there are art clubs.
Great for these types of students This school is great for anyone who is trying to get their prerequisites out of the way before they transfer to a 4 year school. The nursing program and the early childhood program are also great for students who are wanting to be a nurse or an early childhood teacher.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is an event called bruin blast. Bruin blast helps get its students involved in a club, and it helps students to relax in between classes on that day.
Bang for the buck Kellogg Community College is extremely cheap and affordable. For how great the school is and for how amazing the instructors are the price is fantastic.
What to do for fun Kellogg Community College has many clubs ranging from Christian clubs to chess clubs. These clubs are a very good way to meet new people.
Food and Dining The food is not to good and it is at a very high price, but they have it at convenient times.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at the college; however, there are apartments all around the college if you need a place to stay. And they are for a good price
Academic Rigor Even though the schooling is not to tough, for some, you will still need to put the work and effort in to ensure your best possible grade.
In three sentences Kellogg Community College is a great place for you to further your education in the field of studies that you would like to go into. Categories Comments Campus Safety Safety of the students and staff is the first priority at Kellogg Community College. I rarely go a day without seeing one of our security guards walking around the school or driving around the campus. I have always felt that the school was a very safe and quiet place to learn.
Clubs and Activities There are a variety of clubs and activities available to students. I would however like to see more clubs and extracurricular activities become available to the students in future years. The social aspect of college is a very important part of the college experience.
Great for these types of students Kellegg Community College is great for every type of student. Whether you are a student fresh out of high school who needs to improve some academic skills before transfering to a four-year instituition, a student who is looking to save some money and stay at home, or a full-time working parent who is determined to get their education. With the wide variety of class times and locations, Kellogg Community College is a great choice for anyone.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every year we have the Bruin Blast which is a big social event where there are many different games and activities available to the students along with a free lunch. This is a great place to meet new people and get more familiar with the college.
Bang for the buck Kellogg Community College is very affordable and the quality of the education received by the students is very satisfactory. The college really works hard to help the students succeed and to prepare them for a four-year institution and graduate programs.
What to do for fun Kellogg Community College has a lot of extracurricular activities to offer and many other social events for the students. Every year there is Bruin Blast where all of the students are treated to a free lunch, and may participate in a variety of different games and activities. It is a great way to meet new people and make new friends.
Food and Dining Kellogg Community College does have a cafeteria that has a large variety of foods to offer. They offer everything from snack food to full meals at a reasonable price. It is a great place to stop buy between classes to stop your growling stomach from distracting you during the next lecture.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at Kellogg Community College.
Academic Rigor The difficulty of the classes varies with the class and the professor as well. The harder classes usually require more studying. Kellogg Community College offers many resources such as free tutors, professor office hours for the students to go talk to the professors, online resources and much more to help students who are struggling in a class. All of the professors I have had have been extremely helpful whenever I have had questions about the more difficult material.
Tips for prospective students After being in college for a year and a half, I have many tips to give prospective students but some will help more than others. A couple that I cannot stress enough is to stay on top of your work, do not procrastinate, and use the helpful resources provided by the college. College is much easier when you stay on top of your work and your grades will improve dramatically with the help of tutors, librarians, by meeting with the professors during office hours and other resources provided by the college.
In three sentences Like all educational institutions, Kellogg Community College has its pros and cons. After experiencing three full semesters here, I have found the pros to outweigh the cons by a long shot. The affordable tuition, friendly professors, and the abundance of helpful resources available to the students to help us succeed make Kellogg Community College a great college to attend.
