    Definitely search around before you make a final decision. Don't ever settle for something for any other reason than because you truly want to.
    Bang for the buck

    Coming from a community college, the expenses are the biggest issue for me, and at Kutztown, a campus more than 10x larger than my community college, I don't pay much more than I had at my community college, and I have the ability to get my Baccalaureate Degree.
    Will enjoy being here

    The campus is beautiful and very well taken care of. The people are welcoming and the campus is within a wonderful community.
    Will learn a lot

    I have been warmly welcomed and feel that I will be given a great education at this institution.

    With Kutztown's size almost any student can succeed here. Just warning you that if you are looking for a school with alot of activities and things to do on the weekend, you should look elsewhere because the campus is empty on the weekend.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you did well in high school I would look into the honors program. You get preferred scheduling and with the number of students that Kutztown has it is hard for freshman to get into the courses they need

    Something most students don't realize that if you are a full-time students you are paying the same amount for 12 classes as 18 classes. Kutztown charges you as if you are taking 18 credits so try to take as many credits as you feel you can handle.

    I am currently a freshman at Kutztown University. I have been, and am, involved in sports, honors program and resident life. If you are looking for parties you can find them here. If you are looking for something more fulfilling you are going to have to make an effort. Talk to people in your dorm and your classes. You are going to have to put yourself out there to make friends.
    Am learning a lot

    If you were a A-B student in high school you will most likely do well at Kutztown. That is not to say that A-B students are guaranteed to succeed and C students can't do really well. If you are willing to put in the work your grade will reflect it.

    With small classes almost anyone can succeed here. Choose Kutztown if you want to receive a great education.
    Tips for prospective students

    For incoming freshman, my advice to you is get involved as much as possible. Not only do you make friends, you will also be less homesick and enjoy being at school more. For first generation college students, I would advise you to get involved with a program that I am currently in called SSSP. It is to help with the transition into college and will help you throughout the couple years you are here. They will help you with picking classes and develop many skills, such as time management, which is very important. They also give some scholarships out and the best part about being involved with SSSP is you receive early registration, which allows you to pick classes about a week or so before everyone enrolled at Kutztown. This is great because it pretty much guarantees you the classes you want for the next semester.

    Kutztown gives you so much for your buck. There are so many events planned where they give away lots of free goodies. Kutztown is one of the cheaper schools where you will still receive a great education. I am paying for school by myself and Kutztown is one of the schools that does not exceed a tight budget. Kutztown is definitely the way to go when you have a tight budget and want a good education.

    Kutztown has many clubs and organizations to get involved in. The rec center is a great place to meet new friends and get involved in different activities, such as different coed sports teams. The campus promotes involvement within the school and the community. There is a lot to do for any personality at Kutztown.

    Kutztown offers a wide variety of majors as well as professors to teach the classes. All of the professors are well qualified in their specific area and really enjoy teaching and developing their student’s knowledge and experience in their field of study. The professors try to involve their students in the class room as well as out of the class room in clubs and organizations.

    Kutztown is a great school for anyone who wants to push themselves to create a better future for themselves. It is also wonderful for anyone who wants to attend college, but is financially bond to a low budget.
    Tips for prospective students

    For any student whom wants to attend Kutztown, I wish you luck, and highly recommend it. The biggest tip I have that I could share with a prospective student is to try their best to come to school without any form of prejudices, or prejudgments on what college is all about; leave the stereotypes behind and take advantage of meeting new people whom will become your lifetime friends.

    Money is something that is very tight for me. I am financing my entire way through school, so it is important to save as much money as possible, so I am not worrying about having to pay back loans for the rest of my life. With tuition being one of, if not THE lowest, in PA, Kutztown University is a great school with a wonderful reputation, that will not burn a hole in your pocket for attending.

    I am currently living on campus at Kutztown University and cannot describe how much I enjoy it. There are constantly activities going on within every dorm in order to get students familiar with processes of school, as well as with others living with them in their dorm. While walking around campus, it is only on an extremely rare occasion that you will ever see someone who does not pass a smiling face back at you. In general, the people at Kutztown University are very kind-hearted, and would be more than willing to lend a helping hand if someone needed it, in any way they knew how, for anyone.
    Am learning a lot

    Being an art major requires a enormous amount of dedication and time, as well as knowledge. With the help of the remarkably intelligent staff at Kutztown University, the learning environments are ones in which a student can feel comfortable asking questions without feeling any less intelligent than others. However, it is not only within the art field that professors treat students with enormous respect. All professor I have encountered over the last three semesters I have attended Kutztown University have only wanted one thing for myself, as well as my classmates, which was to see each and every one of them at their highest potential in order to help them succeed further in college.

    Tips for prospective students

    Always keep this in mind; You are here for your education, not for anything else. I realize it is fun once in a while to go out and have a good time, however don't let this take over your life. A few of my own friends have made the mistake of enjoying college a little too much and now completely regret it. Not only have they lowered their gpa, but they are on academic probation and were kicked out of their own majors, as well as losing friends due to inappropriate actions while intoxicated. Be smart, not dumb!

    This university is definitely worth the money. I for one, pay for my own tuition. I have no money whatsoever, and am paying with every dime I make in my own job. For a 19 year old college student, this is very difficult. The only reason I haven't left this school yet is because of how amazing and worth it the university really is. I am in the process of getting another job that way I can hopefully pay off more of my tuition. For those of you who are fortunate enough to take out a loan, or have your parents assist you with paying tuition, then you are very lucky and should definitely still consider Kutztown University. An overall AMAZING school!

    Since fall semester had started, I easily made friends within the first week, and am now part of the greek organization Delta Zeta (a national sorority). Greek life has truly involved me in many volunteering oppurtunities which benefit me in the long run.

    I transferred out of Indiana University of Pennsylvania because it was an awful school. Once I was accepted at Kutztown, I didn't know what to expect. On the very first day of classes, I could tell things here were so much different. Academics here ARE very important, and professors have equal respect for you and really do care about how you do in their class. They let you know that they are always ready to help you and to never feel like a question you may ask is going to be stupid. Believe me, this school is the place to go if your looking for an affordable state school that is challenging.

    i'm a comuter so i'm not involved as much but the school has organizations specially for comuters so we know about events that are happening on campus so we don't miss out

    Great for social students. Students looking to work with children (there are two day-cares on campus) or the public. The school has a noted Criminal Justice Department and a newly expanded Art Building.
    Tips for prospective students

    Bring some pictures of family. Also don't go home often. The best part of being here is the actual home-from-home atmosphere. Most colleges boast they have it, but you can really feel it here.

    The dorms are pleasant, albeit a little expensive for a state school. But they are high quality and very comfortable.

    There is so much to do for such a little town. The students are all warm and friendly so there is never a lack for company. Also with 200+ clubs and organizations there is always an event or program that may interest you.

    I love Kutztown! I've learned so much about myself, not just what the Profs. have to say. The learning is not just limited to the classrooms, and lecture halls.

    This school's tuition is very reasonable to me. It is not too expensive and you will get the education you paid for and maybe even more.

    This campus is beautiful. I love the trees and fountains the campus has and green, green grass.

    Kutztown University is great for students who aren't looking for city-living. It is more small town with down to earth professors and peers.
    Tips for prospective students

    College isn't as scary as people make it out to be. Always remember to stay organized. Get a calendaror white board to write down your scheduled dates for homework and papers due. You will get out of this school what you put in.

    Kutztown has an amazing atmosphere for brotherhood/sisterhood and getting to know tons of people.

    I learn a lot from my classes here. The smaller classes are good for more one-on-one time with teachers. They also have lecture halls which appeals to a different group of students as well.

    Make sure your major is still being offered. Recently, to save money, the university has cut back on a major or two, so don't spend money at a school where you won't get what you need.

    The food is sometimes sub-par, and a few of the dorm buildings are pretty poorly run. However, it does have its good days, and they generally outnumber the bad.

    There is a club or group for every type of person. Every student is almost guaranteed to find a group of like-minded people who will accept them for who they are.

    The teachers here want their students to learn, even if it's just another gen. ed. for the student. They love the subjects they teach, and will go to great lengths to help the students understand the notes.

    I currently live on campus at Kutztown University and I love it. There is always plenty of events to attend and things to do. Even though it is located in a small town there is enough stuff always going on to keep you busy.

    All of the professors are very nice and always willing to help. I feel I have learned a great amount of information that will be extremely helpful after graduating college.

    Kutztown is great for anybody really. It has the feel of a small city without the ridiculous traffic and noise yet it's far enough away from everything that it feels very rural at times. I encourage you to visit at least once to get a feel for the campus before deciding to attend.

    Make sure you visit the campus first to get a feel for it. It is a gorgeous place but it may not be for everyone. Also, don't worry about not being able to make friends or that everyone already has their group. There are so many new people coming in all the time. There are no set groups or cliques. Everyone is friends with or at least friendly to everyone. Just relax and enjoy yourself when you're there.

    Any college education is worth the money but this is one of the cheaper places to go. The tuition is relatively low and the classes are great. At first it may seem like you're not learning anything new, especially if you were an honor student in high school, but by second semester your brain is full of new knowledge.

    The campus is beautiful and all the people are warm and friendly. There's plenty to do around town whether that means just hanging in the dorms or taking a walk down Main Street. Also, there are usually plenty of on-campus events organized by students.

    The classes are fantastic as long as you pick the right professors. Ask around before you schedule so that you know which professors you will like and which ones to avoid. They really are the key to learning in a college class.

    Kutztown has an excellent art department, whether it's art education, communication design, or fine arts. It is also well known for those who are interested in becoming teachers for all grades.
    Tips for prospective students

    Definitely take a tour of the campus and do not be afraid to ask questions. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable about the campus and education provided here at Kutztown.

    Although going to college is expensive, and with the budget cuts it has only become more expensive, Kutztown is still focused on providing the best possible education for it's students. Since Kutztown is a state school, it is cheaper than other colleges/universities, but you receive an excellent education. The professors here have graduated from outstanding schools, such as Harvard and Yale and are very knowledgeable. As far as the atmosphere of the University, it is very welcoming. It's definitely an experience of a lifetime.

    The University and surrounding town is very welcoming and provides tons of activities for all students, from incoming freshman to seniors. The University works with the community in many events and has many different groups and clubs for you to join; there's something for everyone here.

    Kutztown University is known for its great education and art programs. Also some other popular majors include and are not limited to: English and writing, psychology, criminal justice, math, political science, and the sciences. Every one I know is very enthusiastic about their major and loves the school! Also if you are a student who is very involved with your family and work at home this school is great for you because a lot of students like to go home on the weekend. You will love this school if you want to be close to home but far enough to be independent.

    Be aware of your self control. Know how much fun you can handle with out going over board and forgetting why you are at Kutztown University! It is easy to get lost in fun events, meeting new friends as well as parties. As long as you stay focused in your studies you will be rewarded with great outcomes and confidence. Also don't forget to reward yourself because if you work hard you deserve it!

    Although college puts a hole in my pocket, it is affordable for a university that has a beautiful campus and worth wile classes that will provide you with knowledge for a lifetime. Kutztown is great for someone who has a moderate budget and still wants a quality education. With any university you go to there is a price to pay and you are definitely getting your money's worth at Kutztown University!

    Kutztown University provides their students with a lot of fun events such as trips to NYC, movies every weekend, and other events from the ACE program. Although there are events that keep me entertained I am still provided with quiet hours where I can focus on big projects and study. That is why I love Kutztown University so much because I am able to study hard with out getting distracted but I can also reward myself at the end of the day with fun activities around campus.

    I am a current student at Kutztown University, I am going to be a Junior, and I have lived in the residence halls for two years and plan to continue living in the residence halls this upcoming year. Ever since I have been in Kutztown I am challenged to the fullest of my knowledge. I learn so much in my classes and I am really enthusiastic about learning more. Kutztown provides me with the best environment for my brain to soak up intelligent information.

    Kutztown University is great for all students there is a wide variety of ethnicity's that attend this school. They have just about everyone personality group and clubs you can think of.

    My tip is for prospective students is do not judge kutztown right away if you are a city person like me it may take a little time to get use to the smell of the grass.

    I am a commuter student living in the local apartments and I pay with financial aid the tuition is not as bad as other schools I consider this tuition to be cheap I am glad I chose this school.

    YES!!!!!! Kutztown is in the middle of nowhere it would seem that you would be bored out your mind but that is not the case. There is so many activities always going on they always have things for students to do and if you don't want to participate its always time to hang out downtown which there are a variety of things to do.

    I learned a lot at Kutztown University I am a current student and I am a Junior. I have not had any bad experiences with any of my teachers, they arenice and always willing to help you.

    Do not loose yourself! Get involved and active with the campus life! Be bold and make friends! There is so much to do and you will grow as a person as you go along. I absolutely love the friends i have made and the connections between staff, and professor's.

    I love being at Kutztown University! There is always something to do, you just need to be bold and go out to the activities. There are so many organizations that you can get involved in. Last year i was in a few and it kept me busy, and i met wonderful people along the way.

    If you are a person who is scared to be in huge lecture classes then Kutztown is place for you. You get to be one on one with your professors and you are not seen as just a body, you can create a one on one relationship with your professor. Causing you to reach the maximum learning ability possible. The professor's are there to help out the student, and teach them more than just the material, they will also help you build the skills that you will use for the rest of your life.

    This school is great for students who love to party. There is always a party, no matter what your race is. There is also lots of on-campus activities but you have to be pro-active about it. I wasn't into the activities or parties, so I was bored. I am hoping to have a better year and to engage more.

    My biggest tip for prospective students i not to settle for a school you are not completely sure or enthused to go to. When I went to visit, I didn't feel what I had heard you would feel when you knew it was right. I kept trying but I didn't. I did however like the campus but I just did not feel like traveling to visit other schools. I feel that if I had and in the end still chose KU, then I would be at peace with my decision. Unfortunately, I feel that there were other possibilities out there that I could have taken but I chose to just visit that one only... and I had gotten accepted to many. After i made my decision I was happy but even to today I still wonder what if....

    There are guided tours available if you're interested in this university. Come to the campus in person and see for yourself. It's located in rather a rural setting. So if you love the city life, this may not be the place for you.

    As an international student, I have to pay way more than the usual rate. However, there are some scholarships available for almost everyone. So it's not bad.

    It's a beautiful campus. But it's pretty much empty during the weekends.

    the clock tower on top of the old main building is called the chicken because from certain angles, it actually does look like a chicken's head!
    What to do for fun

    i personally love going to the gym for fun. they have group classes like zumba and yoga.

    keep in touch with your advisers; they will help you plan your future. also, use all the resources on campus like the writing and math centers.

    kutztown university is great for all types of students; athletes, artists, and everyone else alike. all the teachers i have had a willing to help with my academics if i ever have trouble. i rate kutztown 10 out of 10!

    Campus Safety

    Campus safety is tip-top. The campus security and the local police can be considered one big law enforcement entity. This means you are safe on campus and off campus. What a combo!
    Greek Life

    KU has greek clubs from the Alphas to the Zetas (literally).
    Clubs and Activities

    Lots of clubs...lots of activities. One club is in particular is cool...The Afterhours Club. This is a club that performs everything from jazz to showtunes, from rap to rock. The best thing is the club is not limited to music majors...anybody can join, and perform!
    Great for these types of students

    Kutztown University is great for those students who come from a high school where everyone knows each other. You will definitely not get lost in the crowd...but it's just the right size to give you the freedom of independence.

    I have not come across any unusual traditions or locations on campus. The grass between the dorms is freshly cut and looks like it could be the model for any gardener.
    Bang for the buck

    If you come to Kutztown University, you definitely get more bang for the buck. It is a mid-sized school with all the amenities of a large college campus. Rolling green hills dot the campus and off-campus living is not very far from the university. Come for a visit!
    What to do for fun

    For fun, we hang-out in each others suites or apartments listening to music, playing video games or board games all night, and playing nighttime touch football (guys and girls). Sometimes we form intramural sports teams and go to the gym to play basketball, compete in weightlifting, swim laps. Off campus is fun too! There is a main strip where everyone just hangs out and sometimes a mobile dance club comes to campus for those under 21 years old and sets up shop at the fairgrounds and includes a DJ, lights, everything!
    Food and Dining

    The food in the dining hall is your average college stuff. But there are lots of take out restaurants in the area who also deliver and 24 hour diners are around too! All dorms have a kitchen and sometimes the students host chicken wing parties and seafood sales--delish!
    Dorm Life

    Dorm life at Kutztown University is pretty cool. Of course, all college campuses have parties and the students engage in drinking. But here at KU, there are Party Busses to take you to the parties being hosted off campus and security will make sure you arrive at your dorm safely.
    Academic Rigor

    The academic rigor (how hard you push yourself to pass the class) can be rated a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. The professors know you are here to receive an education and it is their job to instruct us. There is no easy ride. They will push you to excellence; after all, their reputation is on the line too.
    Tips for prospective students

    The best tip is to check the background of your potential instructors and talk to those students who have taken the class. It could help you pass with flying colors or fail miserably

The university offers small classes for those who thrive in that type of environment. Kutztown University truly cares about its' students financial capability of attending and will do all they can to ensure you are able to enroll regardless of your financial hardships.

    Campus Safety

    About average. Public safety doesn't do much else besides give you tickets for parking in an improper place.
    Clubs and Activities

    There are many clubs and activities available to anyone interested but it is difficult yo join if you work or if you are a commuter.
    Great for these types of students

    Great for students who want a good education without the price, and a good general education. The College of Visual and Performing Arts is very well-known.
    Food and Dining

    The food at South Dining Hall is awful, it makes many people sick. Other places to eat are overpriced and unsanitary.
    Dorm Life

    The dorms are overpriced and many do not have air conditioning or heat.

    My one tip is to do your work. I'm currently a sophomore and i realized just this year how much it takes to keep yourself going. Everyone thinks that Freshman year you can do whatever you want, but keep in mind that your freshman year impacts the rest of your college career just as much as any other year.     Compared to other schools, Kutztown isn't bad with money. Especially since it is a state school, and there are so many opportunities for scholarships.

    The campus is beautiful. The people here are great as well, there are many opportunities to be a part of something or be someone on campus. I've made so many friends just being in a dorm setting and these are friends I plan to keep for the rest of my life.

    Attending Kutztown was one of my better decisions, The classes aren't so big that you feel like you are overwhelmed and some are even like high school classrooms. If you need help with anything, the professors are always willing to give you extra attention and most of the time if you put in the effort to work harder, they'll give you extra points.

    Get involved! My first couple of weeks were hard but once I started meeting people and joined NAEYC ( a club for people to get involved with little kids). After doing this, I was fine. GET INVOLVED!

    Kutztown is a very reasonably priced school. A great education for a great price! The food is expensive if you don't have a meal plan, so make sure you get one that fits around how much you eat.

    I love the atmosphere here at Kutztown. The campus is very pretty. It rains very often, but it is still beautiful. The people at this school are really nice and have a lot to share about their experiences here.

    I would go here if you like outsdoors things and for a peaceful time. There is of course the party scene but not everyone goes out and if you're into that then it definitely has that side as well. All in all is is a well balanced school and i think that anyone would feel welcome at Kutztown.

    I would say Kutztown is a pretty cheap school. Both of my parents went there and both have great full time jobs, meaning K-town has some credibility.

    I don't know where else i would want to be. Kutztown has some of the friendliest students and the town around the campus is quiet enough during the day and fun enough at night, but not to fun...

    What to do for fun

    After awhile it may seem like there isn't much to do in and around the college but once you get involved with any of the clubs and activities that soon fades away. If your not into the clubs just making stuff to do with your new friends takes up the time.
    Food and Dining

    Well its nothing like home cooking but the food isn't that bad. There are many different place on campus that all serve different types of food. There are heathy options for those are try to stay on the healthy side and the dinning service even provides options for those with special needs such as having allergies and being a vegetarian.
    Dorm Life

    Dorm life isn't bad at all its actually where I made most of my friends. The dorms are pretty clean, granted not everyone is the cleanest person.
    Academic Rigor

    It depends on the professor that you mange to get but most professors are will to work with you, as long as you try and they see that you are trying. Some professors are difficult and expect a lot out of you because you are in college but you just have to work with their style.

    ku has its own public safety department, which is an actual police force that is commissioned by the state of pa. that police force, combined with 24 staffed desks at the front of the residence halls makes for a campus that is safe and enjoyable.

    our greek life is phenomenal. at this point, the greek culture on campus is growing and getting larger, and the students in the greek life organizations are committed to community service and making kutztown seem like a socially exciting school.
    Clubs and Activities

    out of this world. over 150 clubs to choose from. if you want to try something and you can't find the right club to join that fits your needs, start a club. it's that easy.

    students that are comfortable meeting others, spending time with friends, going to class regularly, being held accountable for their own actions and academics, and who can enjoy the simple things on a college campus.

    we have a festival called bear fest, which has been going on for about 35 years now. in april towards the end of the semester, there is a week long outdoor festival and all of the events are free. the tradition is that on tuesday night, there is a pudding slide. yeah, i said it. pudding slide. there are about 500 gallons of chocolate and vanilla pudding laid out on tarps and students can slide down them, all covered in pudding. great fun, and really fun to watch.

    just like stated before, you can't get a phenomenal education like this for this price anywhere else. the professors here are top of the line, and they put a lot of hours in to making sure that students get the education that they pay for and they deserve.
    What to do for fun

    there is always something to do on campus. for those that say there is never anything to do, my response is always the same: you aren't looking hard enough. we have free movies that play thursday-sunday nights, sponsored bus trips to nyc, free food and games in the student union building, over 150 clubs and organizations to try out, among many other things. there is always something to do that is a fun and exciting.

    kutztown recently changed food vendors to aramark, the same company that supplies food to the philadelphia phillies stadium and other colleges and major sports venues. the food is great, and the prices are affordable.
    Dorm Life

    dorm life is great. it is a fun, energetic atmosphere where there are always non-alcohol related programs that students can attend-for free! at ku, the residence halls surround a large grassy plot of land on the south end of campus, so all of the dorms leak out on to one area of campus. that are acts as a hub for hangouts, sun bathing, frisbee, and campus wide events.
    Academic Rigor

    you will get out of college what you put in to it. that rings true with academics as well. the classes are hard, but only if you make them hard by not attending class and not studying.
    Tips for prospective students

    make sure that you come to college with an open mind. in high school, conforming to other's beliefs was cool, at college, it's cool to come up with your own. also, make sure that you are able to balance the academic and social life appropriately. it's ok to have fun, but make sure that you are able to handle both.

    Campus Safety

    Campus Safety is great! There are blue buttons all over campus that you can push and a Public Safety officer can come help you or walk you somewhere. The shuttle runs from 7:30 am till 4pm on week days and from 7:30 am till 3 am on Thursday through Saturday, in case you need to get somewhere safely! The doors to all dorms need to be swiped into with your ID so strangers will never be able to get into the building, and the rooms all have locks and dead bolts so your stuff is safe when you leave!
    Greek Life

    Kutztown has Fraternities and Sororities and both are welcoming to all! Greek Life movies are nothing like the real life experience, they are excepting and fun and give you great connections for the future.
    Clubs and Activities

    Kutztown has hundreds of clubs, intramural sports, free movies, and free and fun activities. I'm sure you could find plenty of clubs and activities that fit your interests and schedule!

    Kutztown is a good place for anyone, but the biggest and best programs are Art and Education, so if you're interested in painting/sculpting, any type of creating or teaching, this is your school! But Kutztown has a lot of other good programs and could be a marvelous fit for any student!

    Several places around in town are special to the Kutztown Students, the Airport Diner is open 24/7 and is so close you won't be able to help yourself, you and friends will walk down for breakfast in the middle of the night for sure! Spuds and Mama's Delight Pizza Shop are also popular places to grab a bite to eat late and night or for lunch on the weekends. The Strand is a popular movie theater that is family owned and only costs $5! The campus has many fountains that on hot days you might spot people splashing around in, and every year at the end of the year Kutztown has a pudding slide! You're in for a lot of fun if you come to Kutztown!

    The dorms are nice, the classes are interesting and the town is nice. You get a lot for the little amount of money you pay, and it is a good reputable University.
    What to do for fun

    There are a lot of activities that Kutztown sponsors, moon bounces, dancing, singing, movies etc. There are also a million clubs you can join, intramural sports, scientific clubs, crafty/creative clubs anything you can imagine! So get out and do anything and everything you can! The town is close enough to walk back and forth everywhere it has a CVS, a Dollar Store, several restaurants and lots of stores.

    Their are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat, a buffet style cafeteria, a Chik-Fil-A, Burger Studio and a Starbucks! There are two pizza places, to other burger places, and two wrap/salad places also on campus! Their are also three coffee places called Java City that have bagels, donuts, coffee etc. Their are places all over so you won't have to walk far to find the food you want! It's usually tasty and comes with variety!
    Dorm Life

    Dorms are less than what you expect probably, there are a lot of students living all in one place, you'll most likely share a bathroom with 30 or more people and you'll have a room mate. The beds and furniture are standard, nothing special but the buildings are generally nice! Respect the other people that live there, and hopefully they'll respect you too. You may even meet your best friends in the hall you live in. Set rules with your room mate right off the bat, so that when problems arise you can go back to the rules and say We agreed to this. The dorms do have quiet hours, and guest rules, but don't complain it's for your safety and benefit!
    Academic Rigor

    Classes are a lot of work, and that should be expected it's not High School anymore. You're going to need to go to class and do the work, don't get too caught up in the freedom and forget what you're paying for, put effort into the classes and then have fun!

    Go out and do everything you can, join clubs and do activities! The way to have a good college experience is to make friends and go do things! There are plenty of activities, something for everyone from Quidditch to Football to Art Club.

    The dorms are nice and are as nice as to be expected of any traditional dorm setting. The Honors Housing is awesome! There are so many options that even if you stay on campus all four years you won't be stuck in a little dorm room for even more than a year. I love the programming that housing does that tried to include everyone on campus even if they live there or not.

    I transferred in a lot of credits from my community college that transferred perfectly to KU. The teachers don't ask too much from you, but they make sure that you learn.

    I think KU can fit a lot of different students. Its not a huge campus and is set in a small college town so that might make some students more comfortable while for the students that like bigger cities both Allentown and Reading are both only 30 mins away.

    One thing that KU does that I think is fun is Humans VS. Zombies.

    There are lots of things to do for fun at KU. There is alway advertising for clubs and in the MSU they nearly always have something to do. KU also has a lot of different sports teams you can either join or watch.

    Food and Dining can be iffy. Some of they places to get food are GREAT while others are only so-so. One great thing is in the South Side Cafe they have an all you can eat play that fits on your meal plan.

    Dorm life really depends on what dorm your in. I spent my first year in Deatrick and HATED it but when ever I went to visit some of the other dorms they were much nicer. As long as you get a good roommate and take advantage of some of programs your dorm runs dorm life is good.

    You definitely have to be willing to work hard. Some of the classes are really difficult but if you work hard great grades are possible.

    While Kutztown may seem like a little now where town if you take the time to walk around there are a lot of nice little stores all over town. Make sure that you spend time getting to find your classes early though because some of the buildings can get a little confusing.

    Campus safety is GREAT. They have big poles places around campus that have buttons you can push if there's ever an emergency - security will be there within the next 5 minutes. Kutztown also has a system where you can call security when you're out studying late or something and you need an escort back to your dorm. I feel completely safe on campus.
    Clubs and Activities

    There are a million clubs to join! I'm part of Humans vs Zombies and my Quidditch membership is pending. Also, on most saturdays, you can board the art bus for a $20 round trip to New York.

    It's a dry campus, which is great for me because I don't party or drink. I feel safer knowing that alcohol will not be on campus or in my dorm.

    Not only am I going to Kutztown because it's an amazing school, I'm going because it's affordable.

    There's a huge recreation area on campus with a gym, a rock wall, a pool, an indoor running track, basketball courts, ping pong tables and more.

    The meal plans are easy to understand and convenient. The food is good - Mama's pizza is close by, they have Chick-fil-a in one of the dining areas, and an all-you-can-eat buffet dining hall. There's places for ice-cream and smoothies on campus.

    The dorms are really nice - the one downside is that not all of them have air conditioning. There is luxury housing, with suites and AC. It's definitely fun to meet all of the new people that will be living there with you.

    The campus and a look inside the building where I'll be studying won me over! If you're thinking about Kutztown, check it out in person and you'll fall in love too. It seals the deal.

    Everyone. It's well known as an art and education school, but it is so much more than just that.

    You will constantly hear people referring to the Angry Chicken. This is the clock tower on top of Old Main, which, when looked at from a certain angle, resembles an angry chicken.
    What to do for fun

    There are always parties going on the weekends, and if that isn't your scene, there's always something going on on-campus. There are a lot of cute shops on main street, and the Allentown and Reading aren't too far away if you have a car.
    Food and Dining

    It's no home cooked meal, and some of it could use some work, but for school food, it's not as bad as it could be. There is a lot of variety and different places on campus to get better food than the traditional dining hall.
    Dorm Life

    I've had a few not-so-great experiences with roommates, but everyone else I have talked to love the dorms. Be careful who you choose to room with.
    Academic Rigor

    Some professors are more difficult than others (and difficult to get along with), but for the most part they are all very friendly and more than happy to help or give advice, even if they don't have you in their class. Do NOT procrastinate, and keep up on studying, you'll regret it if you don't. Also, go to class.

    Make nice with your professors, the more they like you, the more they'll help you if you need it. Do not slack off freshman year, it's not fun trying to get your GPA back up after bombing the first year.

    You will have a blast when you go to Connections! You meet a lot of new people. When you are going through the application process and you are not sure of what you need completed, when it is due, do not be afraid to ask as many questions as you can.     What to do for fun

    There is a market, bookstore, over 200 clubs and activities, sports, and a great variety of authentic shops, restaurants, and ice cream parlors, just right off of campus.
    Food and Dining

    The cafeteria offers a great variety of different foods such as: Italian food, Asian food, burgers, Chick-fil-le, deli wraps and sandwiches, and many types of drinks. I had the Breakfast, lunch, and dinner during orientation, and it is filling and satisfying.
    Dorm Life

    I am going to be commuting while attending Kutztown. However, I was informed at orientation about the many activities and clubs students can get involved in to spend there time on campus. Also, Kutztown is closely monitored for safety throughout the campus, with emergency calling booths located throughout the walkways.
    Academic Rigor

    The professors are great and want everyone to succeed. There are hours after school where the professors help you one on one, or you can get tutoring from students who are doing well in a particular subject. Anyone could fall behind or not understand something, but Kutztown has many opportunities to get back on track and excel.
    Tips for prospective students

    Just make sure that you keep a schedule for yourself through which you purchase your books on time, take care of your financial aid, and get your parking situation taken care of before school starts. If you need help with anything at all, just look in your student handbook given during orientation, or go online. Someone will take care of your requests or provided you with the appropriate guidelines.

The orientation takes place through a two-day program in which you get to know everything from classes, locations, professors, activities, and see the diverse and accepting community found here.     Campus Safety

    Kutztown's Campus is very safe. Security teams, Kutztown University Public Safety, and the Kutztown Police all maintain a presence on campus. It is a very safe, quiet campus during the week with a fairly rowdy nightlife on the weekends. There is lots of walking to do, and as a guy I always feel comfortable. However, there have been incidents (as every school has) and some girls that I know don't necessarily feel the same way about walking back up Main Street at night as I do.
    Greek Life

    Greek Life at Kutztown is here-and-there. Greek fraternities and sororities do NOT have actual housing on or off campus at Kutztown, but the organizations themselves do exist. You do go to meetings and perform community service, etc. Greek Life is well-respected at Kutztown, but you do not get a place to live out of it. Full-on Greek Life did exist at Kutztown at one point, but it fizzled out as many frats and sororities were suspended for hazing practices.
    Clubs and Activities

    There are SO MANY clubs and activities, everyone will find something to get involved in.
    Great for these types of students

    Laid back, relaxed students who don't mind going to school in a VERY small town. This school is literally built with corn fields surrounding it and you WILL see many horse and buggy's from the nearby Amish folk if you live on campus. If you need to get away from the city or like the country with a small-town flair, Kutztown is the place for you.
    Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    The Golden Bear graces you with open arms on campus in three different spots. And, every spring, Zombies vs. Aliens occurs. This is a giant on-campus Nerf Gun war, which may even find its way into a hallway or dorm building near you.
    Bang for the buck

    Kutztown is one of the least expensive state schools in Pennsylvania, but it does not show it. Most of the upperclassmen residence buildings are brand new (unfortunately, not so much with the lowerclassmen buildings) and all academic buildings have A/C throughout (even Old Main, built in the 1800s). Academic buildings are well taken care of, and buildings are incredibly nice inside. No expense seems like it is spared.
    What to do for fun

    The dorm associations do a GREAT job of creating activities in your dorm building from movie showings to game nights, etc. HARLO, The Housing and Residence Life Organization, does a great job with events like Bearfest (every May), Casino Nights, Pudding Slides, Carnivals, Free Food Days, and more. There is NEVER a shortage of activities on Kutztown's Campus. Off campus offers, of course, parties, and for the 21+ crowd there are three incredibly nice bar/restaurants on Kutztown's Main Street.
    Food and Dining

    There is NEVER any shortage of food both on or off campus. The South Dining Hall, the main dining hall, always has surprises, but can get old after a few months. But, Dixon Marketplace offers its own ice cream shop and convenience store right next door. There are places to get wraps, pizza, make-your-own burgers, salad, sandwiches, and even Chick-Fil-A on campus. Stepping off campus, you have 20+ restaurants within walking distance. Highlights include Spuds (80+ different kinds of French Fries), Airport Diner, Pop's Malt Shoppe, Pretzel Revolution, Main Street Cafe, Mamma's Pizza, The Bagel Bar, and many, many more.
    Dorm Life

    Dorm life is GREAT at Kutztown. During your first year, live in a traditional dorm...they are not the prettiest accommodations at Kutztown, but this is how you will get to know potential friends. Kutztown has an open door policy in its traditional dorms, which helps you meet people, but in the bigger suites buildings (Dixon Hall, for example), a closed door policy is in place. Live in a smaller hall your first year, too. It's like a little close-knit family. Then, in sophomore year, live in Dixon Hall (if you can get in). They are suites and are only going on 4 years old. The accommodations are AMAZING. In your junior and senior years, live in Dixon Hall, Golden Bear South Apartments, or off-campus on Main Street or at The Edge/Apex. Stay away from The Cliffs and Sacony Commons; they are not updated and are very old with their own little problems. Both Apex/The Edge and on-campus apartments are BEAUTIFUL and almost brand new. Main Street offers many nice apartments above businesses too.
    Academic Rigor

    Some classes are harder than others, as are some professors. However, it is a Pennsylvania state school, so its academic rigor isn't too high. Some classes I've personally taken are difficult, others are so much of a joke you don't even have to go.
    Tips for prospective students

    Go on a visit - and then go back and explore on your own. You'll learn a lot on the tour and on your own you will find out even more. Check out the businesses on Main Street and get a feel for the town. It's a great town with a great school, but a lot of people don't give it a chance. And, speaking of that, DEFINITELY visit DURING the school year; in summer the town is VERY inactive.

    I can't speak for every major mines is Sociology and I've loved my classes so far. Every professor is different but mostly they are helpful if you need help. It's alot of material you have to read but if you study you'll do just fine.

    Don't be afraid to meet people or talk to someone you don't know it could be your neighbor the person sitting next to you in class etc. Have fun yes it's college but you still have to make the best of your four years there. And don't sit in your dorm mad at the world get out and make friends , go to the events and games etc. Enjoy this time of your life while you can because once it's gone you can't get it back.

    Not only do they have security guards but they also have there own police force. Once you leave campus you will see a Kutztown city police officer as well. This school is very safe and will make anyone feel comfortable.

    Kutztown has a very active greek life that is recognized through out campus. It doesn't matter race, background, or anything; you will find a home in one the many members of the greek life community.
    Clubs and Activities

    If you can think of it Kutztown has it most likely. If you are into sports they have multiple intramural programs that consist of anything from ping pong to flag football. Kutztown has at least one academic club per major. You will even find different kind of clubs such as hula hoop clubs and the newly added quidditch club.

    Kutztown has something for everyone. The art department is second to none in my opinion and the athletics is top in the country in almost every sports at the Division 2 level. The multicultural center is always flooded with students and provides an opportunity for everyone.

    KU is a Pennsylvania state school so the price is one of the cheapest in the state for PA residence. A large number of KU students are from other states as well and have really been satisfied with the cost.
    What to do for fun

    There is always something going on at KU. South Campus housing makes it convient to walk out of your dorm and in five minutes be inside the football stadium on Saturdays. Almost every sport is played on South Campus and the other two baseball and softball are located on North Campus. Kutztown has hosted many festivals from outside vendors that college students are welcomed to attend such as; Renaissance Fairs, Craft Shows, Art Shows, and many more. KU also has its own movie theater, where you can watch movies for free with multiple showtimes throughout the week. There is so much going on that you can find something to do daily here at KU.
    Food and Dining

    Food is actually very good here. South Dining Hall has many options to choose from, including: Buffet, Grill, Coffee bar, pizza, deli, and much more. On North Campus you will find the Student Union Center is another great place to eat. There you will find a Chick-Fil-A, Burger Studio, and another deli. That isn't all either the Academic Forum hosts a Starbucks and another dining center inside.
    Dorm Life

    The Dorms are located on South Campus and there is only two academic halls on the South Campus. One is Old Main that is also a dorm for women and the other is Keystone Hall. Keystone is home to the basketball arena and behind it is the soccer and lacrosse fields. The dorms are near each other and you will always see peers roaming the campus in groups. There is always something to do and many students not only enjoy living on campus but will continue to live on campus throughout their college career. You will find traditional dorms all the way to suites and apartments. Kutztown housing really makes it enjoyable to live on campus.

    Do not let the acceptance rate fool you. This University is built on opportunity. The classes will challenge you and it is up to you to create your future. The faculty is willing to help and the campus has countless options you can utilize to get you to your ultimate goal.

    Like any campus, anywhere, Kutztown has it's fair share of campus issues. All issues are addressed upon the time they are reported and the University offers a student alert system which notifies each student by text if there is any suspicious activity on campus. Kutztown also offers security escorts at any time of the day upon request. There is also a weather/crime alert system on campus which includes poles that blink when there is any danger on campus. Each pole is also equipped with an emergency button.

    Kutztown makes it very easy for any student with some drive and a good idea to be able to start their own club on campus. The clubs on campus are very welcoming and interactive with all the students who wish to be a part of them. There are clubs and activities for everyone from Gaming Club to Renaissance Club.

    its worth every buck. Kutztown offers a lot of stuff here. The library here rents out amazing things such as a digital camera, camcordar, digital projectors, dvd players, ipods, voice recorders and many more. They also have macbooks and regular PC laptops that they allow you to use in the library. they have a lot of computer labs avaiable on campus. they give you 300 pages to print, many students do not use them all if so you can get more. they provide transportation, rec center, and many more. They also give out free goodies. So I believe its worth every dime. Tution isn't so bad.And they provide a great education.
    What to do for fun

    They do have plenty of events on campus. They have a lot of different clubs and organizations you can join. Sports events are popular and where you're see most of the students. There is a lot you can do on campus. Night life here isn't so great though unless there is an event going on. Weekends here is like a ghost town because most students go home. If they decide to stay, you'll see everyone on Main Street at Mama's Pizza shop or Main street Cafe. Everyone is on main street walking up and down the street looking for something to do. You are more likely to bump into someone you know if you decide to walk down the street.
    Food and Dining

    Being that I don't have a meal plan I don't eat that much on campus. When I do I'll rather eat on the north side of campus because they have a better variety than the south side. South side dining hall isn't so great. They usually serve the same food everyday and you get tired of it. They also do the same on the North side of campus, but I guess the food taste better. South Side dining hall food isn't so great.
    Dorm Life

    The dorm life here is great. I transferred here and was lucky to get into the apartments they have here on campus. (Golden Bear Village South) Ever since I've been here I always assign myself to live in the apartments because they have a kitchen and you are not required to have a meal plan. And it just feels like a place of your own. you can also decide if you want to have a roommate or have a single if you live in the apartments. Another great hall on campus is Dixon Hall. They're one of the newest resident halls and you can also choose your roommate or decide to live in a single, but you're have to share the bathroom area for the other person who has a single in that suite. The other resident halls they have here on campus are great too but they're not as new as the Dixon and Golden Bear apartments. Be sure to talk to your roommates and people in your hall because that's how you meet people and know how to get around campus. Everyone is really friendly here. You will love it.

    My advice for incoming students is that they should come in knowing what they want to major in. If they don't they will probably be here an extra semester. Students should get to know their Community Assistant, if they have a freshmen mentor, and building director. Also get involved with student organizations such as RHA and Hall Council those places can take you far.

    It all depends on your teacher, your course level, and how much effort you want to put in. You get out what you put in. There is a lot to learn in the classes if you really want to learn it and utilize your professors. There are a lot of passionate and intelligent professors here.

    For students your need to get involved. Do not sit in your room. Go to hall council, get to know your housing staff and most importantly get to know yourself.

    There are so many activities and clubs here, its unbelievable, there is also free movie nights, where they showcase movies that are currently in theaters for free, and many fundraisers for students to get involved.

    We've had many crimes. The most are car break-ins and robberies. Public safety does a good job handling the situation and the school does a even better job informing the students with the KU Alerts.

    Kutztown University is home to over 150 clubs and organizations. You should get involved in any kind of club or organization.
    What to do for fun

    For fun, my friends and I participate in some on-campus activities, watch the sports games, go see movies that are playing, and we go to the gym. Since I have a car, we try to find things off campus to do. There are not many places to go off campus considering the location. But somehow, err always manage to find something.

    The food is not your usual home-cooked meal, but it's good. You may not like the choices in the dining hall, but you could always choose another place to eat. There are many places to get food so that you aren't limited to one thing.

    The dorm life is amazing. You make many friends within your building. You alp may even hang out on campus together. The resident buildings are in very good condition. Follow dorm rules and regulations and everything well be fine.

    In my last semester there was 1 stolen car and 2 armed robberies. However the 2nd armed robbery ended up being a drug deal that went bad. So much happens here. But I can gladly say that nothing bad has happened to me yet.

    Most of the Fraternities and Sororities just sot around and hand out cookies. They seem nice though

    The book store and the marketplace are very unusual. Some items that you think might be pricey are cheap however day to day essentials are completely overpriced. For example; a bottle of shampoo that normally cost $3.50 will now cost you $5-6.
    What to do for fun

    If you like to party then this is a great school! If you like to join clubs, there's a million of them here. There is actually a lot to do. Some of the club meetings can be inconvenient but still they help alleviate some stress.

    Eating at the dining hall completely messed up my stomach lining. I'm getting ready to go back for next semester and I have no clue what I will be doing for food. I know that I will try my best to not eat there.

    The dorms are cool. The bathrooms are disgusting! You already know how people act once they're away from mommy and daddy. If you choose to come here, you'll see it within the 3rd week.

    The classes are not hard from what I've seen so far. Looking back I barely did any work and I got great grades.

    If you are just trying to get your work done and get good grades, this school is not for you. If you're lucky your surroundings might not be filled with party animals, but the chances of that happening are slim.

    I honestly don't know what there is to do for fun because I'm a freshman. Usually lots of stuff happens off campus.

    The Food at Kutztown is ok. Honestly, after a while I get sick of eating the ame foods over and over but maybe that's just me.

    Dorm life could be better. Maybe I'm just saying that because I live in Old Main, which is the oldest dorm on campus.

    I honestly think it depends on the professor you have but in general I say the classes are not too easy not too hard, depending on your professor.

    If you are going to kutztown, don't forget to buy rain gear. I unfortunately didn't think about that stuff when I moved on dorm. First day it rained I was soaked. Rain boots and an umbrella is a must, especially since you have to walk everywhere and not everything is close by.

    Police safety is available 24/7 and it is very helpful. If you ever need an escort you can call the police safety office and they will send someone over. There are also stations among campus where you can press the button in an emergency and someone will be right with you.

    Greek life is very popular at Kutztown. You always see people walking around in their t-shirts for their sorority or fraternity.

    Living on your own is awesome. I love being around people all the time. We all get along and have fun. I thought I would not like the showers but they are always being cleaned and the water is hot for hours.

    Be smart!!! campus security is willing to pick you up f you have a late class and don't want to walk back alone. Go places with friends, and stay where there are people. Also there are emergency buttons all over campus, which notifies campus police and the Kutztown police of where you are.

    Although the campus has had a few criminal issues recently, the campus security has upped it's patrol immensely. We not only have the state and local police working with our school now but it's own public safety unit. We also have this unique group called KuBok a teacher and a few students created a few years ago. They walk up and down Main Street every Thursday-Saturday nights to make sure no issues arise and they also will walk home students if they seem like they can't take care of themselves. Kutztown tries it's hardest to make sure each student feels safe.
    Greek Life

    There is an extremely active greek life at Kutztown. They are a tight knit group of students that are always holding events around campus.
    Clubs and Activities

    Like I have said, there are clubs for everyone. There are dance teams, community service clubs, religious groups, international student clubs, if there is as club you can think of, it exists. If it doesn't exist the school will work with you to start it yourself.

    Kutztown is great for all different kinds of students! There are clubs for any type of person. There is the traditional Greek life, marching band, sports, clubs for each major, Humans vs. Zombies and so many more. The campus is welcoming for everyone.

    The university always tries its hardest to keep the school affordable for everyone, and at Kutztown your money goes far. The tuition not only pays for the usual classes, housing, etc. but also a writing lab where you can get help writing your papers, language labs, campus events, and so much more.

    Kutztown is a typical small town, so you have Main Street which has a bunch of little pizza places and restaurants. On campus has events throughout the semester and every weekend there is a free movie playing. The school is always trying it's hardest to keep everyone entertained and it shows.

    The food is good depending where on campus you go. The dining hall near the dorms isn't too amazing but it's not bad either. There are two other places on North campus that are much better. There are plenty of options too. There are burgers, pizza, chicken, salads, wraps, and a lot more. There is also a Chik-fil-a! Off campus places have some of the best mom and pop restaurants I have ever had.

    Dorm life can be awesome if you let it be. Living in a traditional dorm is the best idea for incoming freshman. There are other dorms that are suite or apartment style for students too depending on what you prefer.

    The course load isn't too bad, it really all depends on your major. Some professors grade harder than others, but it's never too impossible.

    Don't be afraid to go out of your way to ask for help, you are paying for your education and you should use the school to it's full potential. Get involved! There are so many ways to get involved at KU which makes it super easy to make friends.
