Great for these types of students

Great for students who have to provide for themselves or who's parents can't offer a lot of financial support. It's great for anyone who wants to get a great education for less.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't think any less of yourself for having to attend a community college and not a known 4-year school. I frowned upon the fact that I had to go here instead of a university, but after its all said and done, I was so thankful I made that decision! I received a great education that was extremely inexpensive and without much stress. This school is great about offering financial aid. It is a great place to get your education- affordable, well-rounded, stress-free! The knowledge I gained here is no less then what I would've earned at a university!

    Bang for the buck

My tuition was almost free! Earning financial aid through this school is easy to attain.

    Did enjoy being here

The school is right in the middle of a great suburban area, so I was able to find a job close to the school and make a little more money.

    Did learn a lot

The school offers various ways of teaching for all types of learners. The tutoring center is definitely a great thing to take advantage of!

Great for these types of students

Relaxed- It's a pretty laid back place

    Tips for prospective students

Check out the professors before you register. There are some absoulutely amazing teachers here, but one or two that you should avoid at all costs.

    Bang for the buck

Unbeatable prices! Defeinetely reccomend anyone to take first 2 years here, and this is the main reason.

    Am enjoying being here

A nice campus, but can't wait to transfer to a full 4 yr college.

    Am learning a lot

I've taken some great College Level courses here, in a small, (mostly) student friendly environment.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for any type of students. In a way its high school again for 2 years, thugs and all. But just remeber everyone is more respectful, no fight and no confrontation. There are several activitys for students, track, baseball, and soccer, i dont know about football. This college has debate, arts, acting, and sevral outher activitys that can compete with the nations top colleges.

    Tips for prospective students

You dont have to be ranked No.1 in your class to be the top in class. Just Study hard (enough) and understand the course and you'll do fine. Dont over due yourself. Take 4 to 3 classes at first to prepare yourself then go crazy but becareful texas has a 3 drop limit.

    Bang for the buck

I just completed 3 classes and will attend 6 more with my fafsa and i will have a refund back to keep for myself yet to help me with living expenses. In total, this year took a fouth of my financial aid , i had an EFC of 0 so you do get more bang for your buck. But dont stop trying to get scholerships, they will help you alot. With tuition, you get acces to the gym thats open during college hours, the student center where you can lounge and play pool and outher activitys, and professional's help for you classes at no cost to you.

    Am enjoying being here

With classes not excceding 25, you have a better teacher student experience. Most theacher teach three classes so they do remeber there students by name and by profile that student can tell there professors. The students are very respectful, it like high school in a way but there none of the yelling, respect gaining, gang nonsence. Students in college understand that there paying to be there so they understand that they have a goal to accomplish. There are no living quarter but with several loctions in houston, it no more then a 10 minute drive from your house.

    Am learning a lot

I took three classes my first semester in college in the fall of 2009. I took Spanish 2402, English 1301, and History 1301. Yet the classes were hard in a since of you had to work for your grade unlike high school, the teachers helpped you through out the entire way with small classes.

Great for these types of students

Lone Star is great for students who aren't sure what they want to major in or need to continue to stay at the job they have. The availability of classes at different times and the variety of classes allow almost anyone to figure out what path they want to take.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to register for classes as early as possible--you'll get the pick of the best times and best classes.

    Bang for the buck

It is VERY affordable to attend Lone Star. The financial aid that is available to veterans and students with hardships is varied and thorough and the scholarships offered to students who excel in classes are phenomenal. I truly feel like I am getting an equally good education as my friends at state schools for a fraction of what they're paying.

    Am enjoying being here

There is always something to do in between classes at any campus. From free coke floats on one day to seminars that provide study tips the next day, there is something for everyone to do. It almost feels like you attend class but have recess for the rest of the day.

    Am learning a lot

You may hear about how certain classes at 4-year universities are extremely hard and designed to weed out freshmen. This can be discouraging and difficult for many students who are unsure about the transition from high school to college. Lone Star provides a challenging and valuable curriculum in each of its classes that rival these weed-out classes. The courses are just as rigorous as any private or state school, but the instructors actually see you as a person and not as another grade to submit.

Great for these types of students

    Everyone.

    Tips for prospective students

Go here and get your basics out of the way before going to a university. You will have smaller class sizes but the teaching is the same quality. And you won't have to spend 500-700 dollars just for a basic english class.

    Bang for the buck

Full-college learning for a much reduced price.

    Am enjoying being here

I really enjoy the classes, but I do sometimes wish i could be at a university and experience student life like that.

    Am learning a lot

This is a very good community college. I feel blessed to have this education available to me for such a cheap price. I feel as though the classes are the quality you would receive at a full university, but rather than having to go to an auditorium of 300 students, I can attend classes at Lonestar of only around 25-30 students where my teacher knows my name and my grades personally.

Great for these types of students

Homeschooled students (like me!). High school graduates who want to make excellent grades in freshman- and sophomore-level classes before transferring to a university (you save a load of money and have a much more personal, intimate teaching environment). Those who want specialized degrees that require 2 years of college or those going to nursing school. Continuing education.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to attend new student orientation; the information you obtain is invaluable. Go to class! It's amazing how many people do not attend class but expect good grades. Get to know the professors. They are a fantastic bunch of people who will help you succeed in any way possible.

    Am learning a lot

Starting college at the age of 16 was a little daunting; after all, from sixth grade on, I was homeschooled, which was great. I received a terrific education from my mother, as well as other teachers in homeschool co-ops. However, by the time I reached my senior year of high school, I had taken all of the classes necessary for a high school diploma, but neither my parents nor I were ready for me to attend a university. The solution was Lone Star College, which has enriched my education by enabling me to learn from outstanding professionals, preparing me for a university setting, and helping me create lasting relationships with other students and staff. Before I started my first semester at Lone Star in Fall 2008, my parents presented me with an interesting financial aid offer. They agreed to pay for my classes and books as long as I made As; any other grade would result in me having to pay them back for the class. Thus far, I’ve only made one B; but my success can be attributed a great deal to the outstanding teachers at Lone Star. I have taken several classes in which I would have made significantly lower grades had it not been for the additional time and tutoring provided by professors. Had I taken those classes at a university, I likely never would have had the opportunity to receive one-on-one private help from a professor in order to excel in a class. But at Lone Star, every professor I’ve had has taken a personal interest in my education. They truly want students to succeed, whether they’re working toward an associate’s degree or planning to transfer to a larger university. When I transfer to a university in Fall 2010, I will take along many excellent habits that formed as a result of my experiences at Lone Star. One of the best preparational tools Lone Star provided me was new student orientation. I went in expecting to hear about how great Lone Star College was; instead, I received excellent information about how to succeed at the college level. I was told about the importance of going to class, getting to know my professors, and getting involved on campus. In five semesters of school, I’ve only missed one day of class, and I let my professor know in advance that I would be absent. I have made it a point to privately meet every professor I’ve taken during office hours, and they have always been accommodating and helpful, whether I needed tutoring or advice on my future educational goals. Additionally, I’ve attended a number of free seminars, made great use of the math lab, and become an officer in Phi Theta Kappa, all of which has contributed to my education. I have not just attended Lone Star, I have received an outstanding education that has prepared me for success at the university level. Classroom learning and good study habits aren’t the only things I will take with me from Lone Star as I continue my education. I have developed wonderful relationships with many of the professors and administrators, many of whom have written letters of recommendation to assist me in obtaining scholarships and acceptance to a university. I believe these are people with whom I will have a relationship for the remainder of my life because I had the unique opportunity of getting to know them in a smaller, more intimate environment, and they were invested in my success. I also have developed close personal friendships with people from all walks of life. I’ve learned to appreciate people’s differences, opinions and personalities, and I will continue relationships with many of these people long after I leave Tomball. Without question, as I one day think back over my educational experiences, I will consider attending Lone Star College one of my best decisions. The community college experience has helped me grow and mature, both personally and scholastically. It enabled me to learn how to become a successful college student, and I developed relationships that will positively affect me for the rest of my life.

This school is strickly a profit organization and with that in mind does not value the studen's best interest. The financial aid department has poor communication and in fact you must see them in person to conduct any matters you may have.

Great for these types of students

Great for students who are looking to transfer.

    Tips for prospective students

If you already know you want to go to a big university or the similar talk with them about taking classes at a community college and transferring as much as you can. You'll save so much money and work with smaller classes that can really benefit you.

    Bang for the buck

The price is great if your trying to save money or want to take cheaper classes outside of a big university.

    Am enjoying being here

Usually my classmates an I are there waiting outside of class up to ten minutes before it even starts. My classmate have been wonderful to work with. The Financial Aid office was a mess and you have to constantly stay on top of them but the other advisers are welcoming and informative with a reasonable side that I appreciate.

    Am learning a lot

The teachers I've worked with have been wonderful and helpful. Open and helpful after class it's made going to school so much easier knowing I can e-mail or contact my teachers at any time and knowing they'll reply to me in a timely manner. They have been willing to work with us in a way that I can only describe as bending over backwards. If anyone fails any of the classes I have right now, which aren't easy, it isn't because of a lack of help from the professors.

The tutiton is very low. Lower than other universitys. Still its a good price to just get an associates degree.

The environment is very open and enjoyable. There are many clubs to join.

    Am learning a lot

The classes are small and the teachers are very hands on. They will take the time to answer questions and help you understand the material.

    Tips for prospective students

My tips for prospective students are not to let the fact that it is a community college make you feel less of yourself for attending. Also, use the resources they give you to become a better student.

    Bang for the buck

With all of the resources at your fingertips, such as tutors, labs, and online classrooms, it is definitely more than worth the cost. It is a great quality education at a fraction of the cost of a university.

    Am enjoying being here

On the Kingwood campus, we have plenty of student activities and clubs, and they have many fun things going on. Just a few days ago we had a craw fish boil, and around Mardi Gras we had a parade. The campus is kept very clean, whenever your leaving a bathroom a janitor is coming out.

    Am learning a lot

At this school the professors are very well educated and well versed in their subjects. It is usually very easy to understand the material as well. There are lots of resources here too to help you learn, such as math labs and a writing tutor in the library.

Great for these types of students

Anyone serious about having a quality college education rather than the social prestige of being able to say they went to this or that big name school. You can always transfer to those later. I am after I get my 2 year degree (the basics).

    Tips for prospective students

Check the cutoff dates for application to each semester. Register for your classes as soon as possible and take the Texas required placement tests early. Otherwise, this is a great cost-cutting way to get your education without going broke, in debt or taking all of your parents' retirement money to fund your education.

    Will learn a lot

I have been told by my brother and others who have attended that community colleges tend to be harder than the big name colleges. I expect to learn a lot and gain my associate degree here.

Freshmen that want to get their GPA up, or students that want to receive an associate or bachelor degree.

    Tips for prospective students

Ask a lot of questions, nothing will ever get answered if you don't ask. The staff is there to help you!

    Bang for the buck

My tuition at the university was a little over $6,000. When I transferred here, my tuition for first semester was a little less than $800! Need I say more?

    Am enjoying being here

North Harris does a lot of cool activities for their students. I’m more involved here than I was at the university I attended my freshman year. There are many programs and organizations to be a part of here. I’m active with two organizations myself. It’s really easy and fun to stay active in school activities here.

    Am learning a lot

I'm learning a lot about myself and my career field. I assumed that community college was for people that didn't have money or weren't sure about their college major. When I came I was shocked to see how many people came here because they wanted to. It's an easy going atmosphere, but filled with faculty and staff that are ready to help you around every corner. All you have to do is ask.

Great for these types of students

Great for students who had low high school GPAs or SAT and ACT test scores. It is a good way to pad your GPA before transferring to a university. It's good for students who are in poor financial situations, because the cost is low. It is extremely good for people wanting to transfer and save money before transferring.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't go in expecting the college life. Go in and focus, and get out as fast as you can. If you aspire to go there for your entire degree, then good luck. It is hard to keep yourself motivated. Try and remember that being there is getting you one step closer to your real dream of transferring or of getting your Associate's Degree.

    Bang for the buck

This place definitely has bang for the buck. The only reason I am going there is to get my basics out of the way for cheap, and be able to transfer to University of Houston for the rest of my undergraduate degree and eventually attend graduate school there (hopefully). If you are looking to simply get your basics done for a good price and not have to worry about a long drive, I'd recommend Lone Star hands down. They have a variety of locations that are close to your home, and the tuition rates are extremely cheap. It only costs me around $800 a semester for 15 credit hours. That figure is, of course, not including books and cost of living. That's simply tuition.

    Am enjoying being here

I have always dreamed of going to a big university. Going to Lone Star is nothing like what I aspire to do or where I aspire to end up. It is hard to have as much motivation when you attend a school like this, because it's so uncompetitive, and it's right in your hometown. The 'college experience' is totally missing. It feels more like a high school, including the fact that half the people from your high school will be walking the hallways. Going to Lone Star makes it feel like you're still stuck in the same little place you were before you got there, the place you've been trying to get away from all along.

    Am learning a lot

Although the quality of education isn't tremendously poor, it is very evident that the professors are not as educated or helpful as I'd imagine them to be at a university. Some professors lecture on topics that are completely irrelevant to what they test over, which can sometimes prevent you from receiving a higher grade since you're unsure of what to study. Some professors, however, are very helpful and seem knowledgeable in their field of study. The professor is the key to learning a lot, in my opinion, so this answer varies.

Great for these types of students

I have to say that it would be great for students that are able to manage their time or for students that are learning how to manage time. The teachers do a very good job at helping students that have trouble with time management and students that are able manage their time gain a lot of independence. It is also a great school for students that want to participate with extracurricular activities as well as classes.

    Tips for prospective students

Many of the classes are transferable here so it would be a great start before going to a university. Going to the community college before a university is very helpful since you take the same prerequisite classes but for a much cheaper price!

    Bang for the buck

They offer a large variety of financial aid for students that are not able to afford going to school. As long as you have a proof of identity then it is not that hard to obtain!

    Am enjoying being here

I like this school because it is not to big but not to small either. There are many activities and sports that are offered, along with, tools that are provided if students are struggling with their classes. I love that there are so many choices for the time that you can take your class and the late start classes if you are not able to start on time.

    Am learning a lot

So far I have taken a philosophy, English, history, and math class and in each class the teachers really focus on helping the students. There are a variety of methods that are used to accommodate each students needs which is very helpful. The teachers do very well for offering their time outside of the classroom and using their time to get through the lessons.

Great for these types of students

People looking for technical or vocational degrees, people who aren't sure what they want to major in, people looking for a smaller step towards independence, adults wishing to return to school, etc.

    Tips for prospective students

-If you can, get classes taught by school faculty. While there are some wonderful adjunct teachers, it's definitely a mixed bag. -Don't expect this to be easy like high school. Think critically and study, study, study! -If you are a school whiz like me, join the honours program! Some of the classes weren't challenging enough for me, so I wish I had. -Go to the tutoring centre! If you can, start early and go often. I work there as an English tutor and can honestly say we are always glad to help. Don't feel stupid going there. Tutoring is for everyone.

    Bang for the buck

If you want economic school options, THIS is the place for you. Each semester was less than $1,000 for me in tuition. They also have some scholarships available and I highly recommend their work-study program if you are eligible.

    Am enjoying being here

I'm glad I started here because community college serves as a great stepping stone to independence. Going to Lone Star allowed me to build up my GPA, adjust to the workload, and work a part-time job whilst not having to move out just yet or pay ridiculous amounts of money.

    Am learning a lot

Don't expect less just because it's a community college; these classes are definitely college level. It *will* be harder than high school, but you will learn more and expand your horizons. For me, the challenging part was the social aspect and amount/type of work, not the material itself. Your mileage may vary because my peers seemed challenged enough by the courses.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't be embarassed that you are enrolled in just a community college. Be proud. Be Lonestar proud.

The cost is 1/3 of what one will spend at a university. We are learning the same thing as they are.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the atmosphere. It is serene, peaceful and very conducive to learning. The students are well-mannered and respect fellow students.

Great for these types of students

Students who don't wanna travel far away, who can't afford the cost of a pricey four year university, or for those who wanna go to college but haven't decided on what major to chase.

    Tips for prospective students

Go here to get your basics and possibly your major if they have it available. The price for classes is just too good to pass up and the teachers ( if you do your homework on them ex ratemyprofessor.com ) Also, know your way around the surrounding community, you never know when you're gonna need last minute supplies or a quick bite to eat. Finally, although it is the cheapest way to go in terms of college don't procrastinate in terms of saving money. The bill can add up depending on what classes you decide to get.

    Bang for the buck

Not too much to say but simply this is the best deal in town for those simply wanting to get there basics out of the way for a cheap and effective cost. I simply love the fact that I didn't have to take out any loans or burrow any money what so ever in order to go to Lone Star. It is disappointing that I am leaving simply because the price is so amazing.

    Am enjoying being here

I do enjoy being here simply because it's close to home and the surrounding area is perfect for the college student. The only things that aren't too great about it is that the college does not have my intended major which is why I am going to transfer to a four year university.

    Am learning a lot

One thing I enjoy about Lone Star is that it's community college and yet the teacher's that I've had enjoy teaching there. I've heard stories from friends where they get teachers that just don't seem motivated to be there or look as if they are going through the motions. However my experience at Lone Star has been great for one major factor, the fact that the teachers their love to do what they do.

    Campus Safety

Campus patrol can be seen heavily monitoring the parking lot, as well as hallways and walkways all over campus during all hours of operation.

    Greek Life

There are some sororities and fraternities around, but they do not advertise much about them so it seems that they want you to come asking them for information instead of putting themselves out there.

    Clubs and Activities

There are 20 plus clubs ranging from sports to math. A great variety that has something for just about everyone.

Great for these types of students

Lonestar is great for those students looking to transfer to a 4 year that is small and cheap.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I have seen a few flash mobs around campus. Who knows how they are organized, but it's fun to see them.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition fees are exceptionally great. Any more cheaper and they would be losing money!

    What to do for fun

There isn't too much to do for fun unless you are in a club, however as a student we have access to the gym at the main campus, and we also have plays, a small art gallery, and great lake scenery on and around campus grounds.

    Food and Dining

Lonestar College offers the usual vending machines and coffee cart, but at the main campus they have a small cafeteria that offers fresh food make daily. The salads are the best in my opinion.

    Dorm Life

    No dorms available.

    Academic Rigor

Challenging yet personal class spaces have helped me greatly in my experience with Lonestar College.

    Tips for prospective students

Make friends to study with in as many classes as possible. Just because it is a community college, that doesn't mean that the classes themselves should be treated lightly.

    In three sentences

The tuition is excellent compared to other schools in the area, however some of the counseling staff seems lazy, uninterested in student needs, and sometimes unprepared.

    Campus Safety

Campus police is great. Fast, responsive, and plenty of officers on watch daily. I personally love the escort to my vehicle at night.

    Clubs and Activities

Every department has a couple of clubs or programs. They even have cool gamers club to play video games. A little something for everyone.

Great for these types of students

Undecided, non-traditional students, financially burdened, and first generation students.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely saves you money. I am taking 3-4 classes a semester with price ranging to 750-920 dollars on tuition. Many payment plans offered make it easy to attend here.

    What to do for fun

Sports or clubs are numerous. Offer exiting volunteer work with organizations in the woodlands like chamber of commerce and local high schools.

    Food and Dining

Good variety in cafeteria and also close to many yummy restaurants.

    Dorm Life

    Community college doesn't apply.

    Academic Rigor

i’ve been greatly attracted to the idea of attending lonestar college ever since i went to the north harris campus in woodland. last october, mom and i went to lonestar college cyfair campus talked to our representatives there. a close friend of mine and her mother also visited lonestar last spring and spoke highly of the exquisite beauty of the campus which sits on top of a ridge surrounded by the many small lakes, a different but appealing kind of terrain for me. they enjoyed the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and students whom they encountered and the smallness of the classes they attended. they were also impressed with how clean the campus appeared. though my friend will remain in lonestar for her college experience, i want to attend college in a different state, a new place altogether for me. i feel that sam houston college and university houston college is where i belonged, since i'am major in computer science. i choose to agree with the lonestar college. i don’t want a direct popular election because i want the smaller states to still have a voice, but, if america switches to direct popular election, the way things are, might just go worse. there are some good reasons for a direct popular election, and there are not good reasons for one too. i like the lonestar college a lot, and i would like the voting system to keep it that way. however, the lonestar college, being the geniuses they are, created a good places to study that would not cause any noices or any sounds that can affect our study time. one reason i choose to stay with the lonestar college is that there are many campus where i can selects, many campus i decided to go to, it will be cost the same as much as the campus which i currently attended . take arnold schwarzenegger for instance, he was a famous movie star years ago and he is now the governor of california. i believe that he only won because he being famous. if we take away the lonestar college and replace it with many others college, we could have save whole bunch of money. that way, the money that we have already saved, we could use that to get onto big big university and when i mean big. its mean the university that can train you good. there will be alot of people whos going to do my way because of not knowing what they are doing, and not knowing what they want to do with their life is going to waste of a lot of money over taken classes that are not important just only throw money away because of not knowing what they major in. by going with lonestar college, first can save you tons of money. second , it can get you through with all your basic classes english, goverment, us history, and others elective classes. third, it can prepare you before the big thing comes which is university.

Some of the smaller campuses dont have as much of the degree classes, for example, the Fairbanks location does not have many computer/graphic design classes. Best thing to do is take the general classes, such as English, Government, Etc. at the campus closest to you and then focus on your degree classes which might all be at a different location. North Harris seems to have the most computer and graphics classes available

I felt very safe on campus. The security is great and there are buttons around campus you can press to call a cop if you are in danger. I even took night classes and the parking lots were well lit, I never felt scared.

    Greek Life

Other than Phi Theta Kappa, I was not aware of any sororities. Lone Star does not make Greek Life as big a deal as other universities.

    Clubs and Activities

I took part of Phi Theta Kappa and it was a really neat group that was active in activities around the campus. Lone Star has tons of things to join! There is something for everybody.

Great for these types of students

Students who like small classes where professors give each individual more attention. In theses cases, you get to befriend pretty much everyone in the class and it is easy to create study groups. Lone Star is also good for students who are unsure of what they want to major in or are not ready to fly the nest.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Well, I thought it was strange that we were ducks. I saw the mascot walking around once or twice around the school which made my day. I really enjoyed how they would hold certain events towards finals week. I got free food and other goodies! It was nice.

    Bang for the buck

Though I was disappointed that I could not afford the college of my choice, Lone Star seriously surpassed all my expectations. In a sense, I am glad I didn't really have a choice because I honestly feel like I had so much more opportunities. I was able to graduate within a year with my Associates of Science because they accepted a lot of my high school AP/dual credits that other Universities would not. Interesting enough, these transfer to the school I plan to transfer to! I saved my mom, who is single, a lot of money and I go in as a junior. Pretty exciting stuff that many people do not really know!

    What to do for fun

My favorite thing to do was work out in their gym. The facility is pretty nice and they also have volleyball and basketball courts outside. In my Biology classes, we were able to go out into the field to do labs which was pretty cool.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria offers many healthy choices of snacks and different meals depending on the time and day. I have tried their sandwiches and they are pretty good, but I did not venture to buy that much food because it was overpriced.

    Dorm Life

Oops! Lone Star does not have dorms, sorry!

    Academic Rigor

Professors are continuously challenging their students. The faculty are experienced and come from other campuses to teach such as Rice, in fact, many times they give the exact same curriculum! Don't expect to slack just because it is community college.

    Tips for prospective students

First things I suggest: find the tutoring center where you can meet new friends and get ahead in class. Also, it is very important to try and build a relationship with your professors. In this case, you have the chance to be with them in a close environment unlike four year universities. Take advantage of this, it will come in handy for future references!

    In three sentences

Lone Star surpassed all my expectations; this college beats all the presumptions that others usually make about junior colleges. The faculty and people were very friendly, I was challenged academically beyond what I expected, and through the experience I also learned a lot about myself. I now look back at it to see Lone Star as an opportunity that opened doors for my future and not a second choice option to an overrated and costly four year university.

The Lone Star College System Cy-Fair campus has recently started a Glee Club which is open to any and all students. In addition, there are numerous clubs to choose from if students wanted to be more active at their college. There are music clubs, environmentalist clubs, science clubs, math clubs, and much more.

Great for these types of students

Students who are unsure of college life should apply to this college. The Lone Star College System provides a step into what true college life would be like; the only difference is at the end of the day you can go home. Sometimes the demand of a University, or simply the location of it, may require a student to live near campus. In that case, not only will you be paying for tuition, but for housing as well.

    Bang for the buck

The classes are very affordable compared to University costs. In addition, the school offers financial aid to those who desperately need it. More often than not, financial aid will cover the tuition costs of a full-time student.

    What to do for fun

There are many clubs students can join. For example, the college just began a Glee Club, which is open to applications and auditions. There are always events going on in the commons area, whether it is a poetry reading or a dance-off.

    Tips for prospective students

The Lone Star College System is a good school to get your foot in the door for four-year degree colleges. This college also provides associate degrees, so you can start working after two years, or transfer your credit classes to a University.

    In three sentences

Lone Star College System is extremely accessible to anyone looking to continue their education. It is convenient, as there are many campuses. It is, also, affordable to anyone who cannot pay a University tuition.

    Bang for the buck

I just completed 3 classes and will attend 6 more with my fafsa and i will have a refund back to keep for myself yet to help me with living expenses. In total, this year took a Fourth of my financial aid , i had an EFC of 0 so you do get more bang for your buck. But don't stop trying to get scholarships, they will help you a lot. With tuition, you get access to the gym that's open during college hours, the student center where you can lounge and play pool and other activities, and professional help for your classes at no cost to you. Its also VERY affordable to attend Lone Star. The financial aid that is available to veterans and students with hardships is varied and thorough and the scholarships offered to students who excel in classes are phenomenal. I truly feel like I am getting an equally good education as my friends at state schools for a fraction of what they're paying.

    What to do for fun

There are alot of activites to participate in such as The Office of Student Life hosts Activities Mart, an event designed to help familiarize students with all that LSC has to offer outside and in conjunction with the classroom experience. Student organizations are the campus's life outside the classroom. Shop them all at Activities Mart and on this website and find your fit. Also there is the InteIntramurals sports clubs

    Food and Dining

Food is as great as a convenience stores selection but if you're in a hurry to your next class or you might have time to snack before class then the cafeteria is for you.

    Dorm Life

No dorm life but if you live with a parent or significant other then make sure you have plenty of alone time to study living with those who are not in the same social group as you will tend to deter you so stay focused

    Academic Rigor

As long as you work hard and stay focused on your goals your teachers will see the same inspiration in you because they've all been where you were or are and they are more than willing to help you to achieve your goals

    Tips for prospective students

Understand your rights and responsibilities under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. To plan ahead for a smooth transition, meet with the Learning Disabilities Specialist before classes begin to submit documentation and arrange academic accommodations. Also, Be sure to register for classes as early as possible--you'll get the pick of the best times and best classes.

There are police locations on each campus to secure safety.

    Clubs and Activities

The clubs are amazing. However, you have to search for the clubs. They are hidden in the school structure and should be focused on more.

Great for these types of students

Any type of student can find a place in the Lone Star System.

    Bang for the buck

The combination of schools are basically community colleges with amazing prices that transfer to many schools in Texas. This is the perfect start to your college education and your career, even if you change careers later in life.

    What to do for fun

For fun on campus', there are many places to visit friends such as the commons building. However, each campus has their own perks. For example, the North Harris campus is known for their cosmetics school and offers low prices on manicures, pedicures, facials, hair cuts, etc.

    Food and Dining

Each campus has an eating area with, at least, one restaurant with good choices and a nice place to visit friends.

    Dorm Life

There is no dorm life, for which I am truthfully grateful. I do not enjoy living with other individuals who may not have the same motivation for grades and classes as I do.

    Tips for prospective students

Check the teachers online at ratemyprofessors.com to make sure you have a great teacher. Check classes at other campus' because different locations have different classes.

    Campus Safety

The campus safety is very efficient. I, being a young single woman, can count on if there is a problem that there are security officers around at all times.

    Clubs and Activities

The clubs and activities at Lone Star are a great way to get connected and meet new people. They offer clubs and organizations from anything such as sports, academics, arts, music etc. They best part about it is that you are even competing against or connecting with students from major universities.

Great for these types of students

Lone Star is a great option for students who aren't quite ready to leap straight into a four year university. You receive more hands-on, one on one, quality teaching for less than the price of a university. It is great for students who want to be closer to home and it is great for students who want a more intimate classroom setting with more teacher availability.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The campus has many quiet and peaceful locations where you can study, get homework done or even escape for a little while in between classes. Their small cafe's, indoor and outdoor lounge areas, computer labs and library study areas provide a perfect place to get quiet study time in with your classmates or by yourself.

    Bang for the buck

Lone Star provides so much bang for your buck! In fact, I believe that for students seeking to earn their associates before transferring to a university, it provides more of a quality experience, because you are receiving university quality professors, in a smaller classroom setting, without paying the same price as a university.

    What to do for fun

Lone Star has an incredibly large amount of clubs and extracurricular activities that are good to put down on college transcripts and applications when transferring to universities. It even offers activities that you can continue after high school, such as club sports, art clubs or musical programs etc. I played tennis and was in the choir all throughout high school and was able to continue both after finishing high school. There are clubs and activities for everyone and it gives you a chance to become involved in the school and meet new people.

    Food and Dining

The food on campus is fairly good. The cafeteria provides delicious fresh-made deli sandwiches... just in case you're looking for something more filling in between classes other than a granola bar. Also, all the Lone Star locations are within a 5 mile radius of fantastic restaurants! I attend the Lone Star in Kingwood, which is close to some popular chain restaurants such as Pei Wei, Starbucks, Carrabba's Italian Grill etc.

    Dorm Life

There are apartments close to Lone Star that are beautiful, but there are no dorms. The advantage of going to Lone Star, if you live in Houston, is that it is close to home and there are several locations. So, you can still live at home and be provided a great education.

    Academic Rigor

I was very surprised at the academic quality that Lone Star offers students. Everyone has the presumption that community colleges don't hold the same academic standards or opportunities that major universities offer, which is not true at all. Most of my professors at Lone Star had taught at major universities such as Rice, Baylor, University of Texas, College of the Ozarks, University of Washington, etc. They have the exact same academic expectations and deliver the same kind of quality teaching that they would at any university, making the classes just as challenging yet fulfilling. Therefore, I believe that I had the advantage attending Lone Star my first year, because I was receiving the same quality education but for the fraction of the price of a university.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are considering attending Lone star or have already decided to attend, it is extremely beneficial to do some research on some of the professors that will be teaching the subjects that you will be taking. There are online sources that rate the professors or you could even ask some of the students on campus. The students at Lone Star, from what I've seen, are all pretty helpful and are more than happy to give advice on what professors are or aren't good to take. Don't be afraid to ask for help from current students; They won't bite. Then, after you have researched what professors you'd like to have, it is extremely important that you register early, because the good classes and professors get eaten up very quickly!

    In three sentences

Lone Star provides quality education at a fraction of the price of a major university. It is an excellent option if you are considering getting your basics covered before transferring to a four year university. It is easy to locate classes and very convenient if you live in the area, because they have several different locations.

    Campus Safety

The campus police are very watchful, helpful, and kind people!

    Bang for the buck

Although the cost of attending LSCS Tomball is relatively low, this campus messes up financial aid regularly and is a pain to fix.

    What to do for fun

Join extracurricular groups. There are a lot, and, for the most part, the groups only have members who are actually interested in being there. Also, there is a student organization that has little parties every now and again.

    Food and Dining

There are only a couple of places to buy food on-campus, and it's expensive. Some enjoy it and others don't.

    Dorm Life

    There is no dorm.

    Academic Rigor

Most of the classes offered at LSCS Tomball are not difficult. Certain teachers, however, have higher standards or are more difficult to understand.

    Tips for prospective students

Do not take the word of any counsellor or person in the financial aid office. Make sure you have the correct courses selected and to consistently check your course / financial aid status. This college system is bad about telling their students one thing and then doing another.

    In three sentences

Lonestar College Tomball is simple. There aren't too many or too few students. Their counselling and financial aid offices are not helpful.

There is no dorms in the Lone Star College System. It allows you to have more freedom to choose your housing. I enjoy not having to live on campus.

    Academic Rigor

It is as good as you want to make it, I personally believe what you learn is up to the student. If you put in minimum effort, you will at least pass. This school is not trying to fail you though, but you will not be given any grades either.

    Tips for prospective students

Get through the admissions process as soon as possible. You will have a greater chance at getting into the classes you want, with the instructors you want. It is easy and the advisers are very helpful.

    In three sentences

This college is such a clean and beautiful place to start. I have met very dedicated instructors that work hard to help students reach the highest levels of learning. The tuition is very reasonable, too.

North Harris has a variety of things to do, held and sponsored by StudentLife members, such as discounted movie tickets and houston Astro tickets, as well as setting up little competitions for the holidays like pumpkin carving (Halloween), cupcake decorating (valentines day), etc. and even held a day of fun at Camp Allen (Navasota, TX...transportation included and 100% free)for the first day of Spring Break featuring your choice of games and activities throughout the day like archery, horseback riding, canoeing, etc.

    Food and Dining

I am attending the Lonestar North Harris Campus and have visited the Montgomery Campus as well. Their are plenty of foods to select from at the cafeteria and breakfast times and snack at the cafe areas located near the cafeteria or around the schools (on campus). What to do for fun

There are sooooo many student activities, I can't even keep track of them all. They almost always have food and some sort of activity/performance.

    Food and Dining

Food is average, but there is a variety. You've got the pizzas, hamburger, sandwiches, and salad in the cafeteria. Then there is a cafe in the library where you can get coffee, sandwiches, salads, fruit cups, pastries, and all manner of beverages.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms, but there are apartments literally next door. You have a direct route to the college over a bridge and there you are! There are several other apartments in the area too.

    Campus Safety

I absolutely love our campus safety team. We have police on the campus and they are here all day (literally). They patrol the campus during the day, but if you ever come across a problem whether it's major like harassment or simpler like needing a jump or tire change for your car or needing a escort to your car at night, LSC police is always willing to help. However, be aware they are nice and helpful, but they are police so they will give out speeding tickets and on some campuses give you parking tickets for parking over the designated lines.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a large variety of clubs and activities to do at lone star. Students have the different athletic clubs they can join as well as student activities board, anime, eco, chess, and the less goes on in on.

    What to do for fun

The student life center provides various activities for college students to do while wait for class for no cost at all. They will book entertainment concerts, host food luncheons, as well as devote a week to the students called Stress Reliever Week. This week is all about the students and helping them relieve stress before finals, by having massage therpist come in, breakfast held, etc. This is always a big hit!!

    Food and Dining

Lone Star College system has a place called The Commons which is right by the food, it's actually the sitting area for students after they grab something to eat or to mingle and get in that last minuted studying before class. The food is pretty tasty, and quiet varied. You can typically find anything from quick snacks like ships and sodas (both fountain and bottled) as well as hot food (hamburgers and fries) cold line (salads and fruit) some campuses even have a vegan or vegetarian section which is good, despite your eating preferences.

    Dorm Life

Sadly, LSC does not have nor provide actual dorms, but there are usually apartments near by the campuses that many students rent. So life depends on your neighbors or enduring home life at your parents until you are able to get on your feet. The best thing is no curfew and for some home cooked meals!!

    Tips for prospective students

I highly recommend student orientation for incoming freshman or newcomers to LSC. It's fun way to meet new people as well as learn about the school and the way things work. Another tip is to sign up for classes EARLY!!! The good ones always go first and once they are gone that is it. So get registered early and make sure to check your school email or you could occasionally miss important memos.

    In three sentences

Lone star college is a great starting place to continue one's education. Equipped with great staff both in the class room and out, LSC works to provided high quality education at a fraction university tuition. Lone Star College system rates high in my book.

I don't know about other campuses, but at the Cy-fair campus the cafeteria food is decent. There is a coffee shop in the library that serves Starbucks! Other than that, there are no food restaurants around the campus. Choices within walking distance: Sonic or Subway, and a frozen yogurt place.

    Dorm Life

There are no dorms, but there are some nice apartments around my campus in Cy-fair. Lakeview Lofts is really nice, but were a bit out of my price range. I ended up at Waterford Place at Riata Ranch down the street.

I hear really good things about two of the other campus's. With anything, you get what you put into it. And the students are very chill and well mannered, just like a lot of the instructors. Also lots of free food and other events on campus's like a university.

    What to do for fun

    What to do for fun

There are several clubs you can join, but I usually just go to the gym after I'm done with my classes, just to relax a bit. I also just sit around the lake (did I mention there is a lake? Man-made, of course, but it's relaxing!), and read. The library is also relaxing. Oh, and they have an entertainment center, in which they have TV's, ping pong tables, and several other things I can't remember. It's fun.

    Food and Dining

I personally don't eat there, but I have noticed the prices are super expensive and I've heard the taste and quality of the food isn't the best. They have a cafeteria (obviously!), which is open quite often, and they have several vending machines all over the buildings.

    Dorm Life

Well, there is no dorm life because it's a community college. You live in your own place, which is always comfortable!

    Academic Rigor

For the classes I've taken, the professors have been really easy to get an A with. They have been friendly, and I've understood the subjects, but I am 100% sure that there are better ways of teaching them. I say this because the professors I've had have been too easy when it comes to testing how much you've truly learned: they usually let you use your notes, but when it comes to the final exam, well, it's not good if you depend on your notes to get a good grade. Other than that, the professors are nice and have time for any questions you might have.

    Tips for prospective students

As a tip, I would say: Go to the different fairs they have, because they always bring different representatives for different colleges and you can definitely take advantage of that, especially if you plan tot transfer to a four-year university. Also, do not hesitate to talk to the advisers. They are very very glad to help you, but many students don't go.

    In three sentences

I currently go to the Cy-Fair campus, and it is very relaxing and satisfying, and the buildings are spread out not far from each other but not super close either. If you ever need any help, the C.A.S.A. building is full of friendly people willing to help you with a great variety of things. Some of the professors are not the best ever, but I guess that happens in any college....but overall, I am happy I decided to go there for my first year of college.

Do not take what you do not need.

    Dorm Life

    Academic Rigor

Overall, Lone Star College System is pretty challenging. I have heard in the past that community colleges have been known to be a little more relaxed than major universities. This is not the case at Lone Star. The teachers and staff take their jobs seriously and are very professional.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are still unsure about what you want to major in out of high school, I would recommend to students that they take a year to go to their local community college and save money while they begin their basic courses. This not only gives you time to explore options if majors, but allows you to truly decide which school out there is right for you.

    Food and Dining

I have always been encouraged to not spend when I cannot afford. The understanding of how money works is complicated especially to a college student. We tend to rely on our parents when we are in high school, so there is a huge difference in saving on money and knowing when to spend between a college student and a parent. Save money and live within my means is a motto that I live by. Knowing the difference between needing and wanting is the name of the game. Money can be dealt with knowledgeably in many different ways, which could include eating when you can and also spending when you have money to spend. Dining out is easier but cost more, while learning how to cook and eating in is more important. When dining, know that you are spending because you can and not because you just want to. I do not splurge on anything unless it is a good deal and a good deal consists of knowing when something is made then bought prepared. Eating is an important part of living, but spending when you can is even more important. The difference in a good meal is when it is saving you money. Dining in is an important part of saving money because when you buy food in bulk, you admit to yourself that it will be well worth it. You purchase food to last and not to expire so you are also observing expiration dates and notice how much you buy within that week or month.

    Dorm Life

I am unfamiliar with a dorm life due to the fact that I go to a community college and live close to campus. This is a benefit that I am use to and like because of the fact that gas prices are at an all-time high. The cost of living has increased so saving money is also a goal to try to attain. Living on campus has its ups and its downs, but knowing the difference between traveling far daily and walking down the campus is the key. I do know of many who are in the dorm life and I hear that it is difficult to only worry about you. While your stay in a dorm, you tend to focus on yourself and your room mates as well. You live together so you focus on comfort level in the dorm. Each student is expected to be respectful and courteous towards the other. If I have an opportunity to avoid a dorm life, I would avoid it only to enjoy renting or owning a place nearby. This would be a benefit if I could find a job on campus and find scholarships to apply to. Scholarships can save you money and if money is gained, then most of the money earned will be used to purchase beneficial things. To live on campus also means to live within your means.

    Academic Rigor

Procrastination is something we all know as making things more difficult for ourselves. We hold off and think about what we could do until the last minute of when the assignment is due. This academic rigor is serious and challenging to go through without determination. Knowing to hold off when you can and get a short break when possible. Take the assignment as serious as possible because planning is winning in the steps through college life. Difficulties include more than just holding off, but also include knowing when it is the right time to do something positive and impactful. Take every opportunity in college to get the most out of the experience. Know that when something is holding you back, then it may be more important to finish it early to finish the semester stronger than ever. Semesters come and go but knowledge of how to get through any rigor that college may have can help you through looking at the past. Experience is the key to victory and knowing how to deal with a difficult decision is a key step of life. Use every experience as a stepping stone towards another and never act upon a situation without knowing the outcome. Learn to adapt through rigors by making the most out of every opportunity that seems simple. Plan each new step and each goal that shows youâ??re determination is what will get you through any academic rigor.

    Tips for prospective students

Look to make your college experience as simple as you can. Look for every opportunity to help you through tough times. A great example is to apply to as many scholarships as possible. Look for a career that will look for you to work for a salary and not a job that will pay you hourly only to lose focus on striving through life.

    In three sentences

My Lone Star College experience has been great and worth my time. I see Lone Star College as a community college that has saved me money and lead me through experiences that have been difficult and yet I have pulled through them. This community college has been supportive of me through and through so that is why I know Lone Star College is and will always be known as nothing less than great to me.

There has been a shooting since I started here, but it wasn't a mass-murder incident, just a personal dispute. There was an assault on another campus, but it was domestic violence. Police presence on campus is pretty noticeable. Seems that if you don't bring your home problems to school, you'll be just fine.

    Greek Life

    Non-existent

    Clubs and Activities

There seems to be a club for every interest, although membership and participation in most seems limited. Student Life is always planning events for the student body, from build-a-bear on Valentine's Day to movie day the following week. Brother for Brother seems active, and the Geology club takes regular field trips.

Great for these types of students

Non-traditional, GED, evening and weekend, distance learning.

    Bang for the buck

Inexpensive, and you get what you pay for.

    What to do for fun

Participate in the extra-curricular and Student life events. Watch a sporting event. Take some time in the gym for free. There is always a free lecture or guest speaker of some kind to listen to.

    Food and Dining

Blah. One cafeteria, what you see is what you get. Baked potatoes aren't bad, gyros were just okay. Pizza, burgers, french fries, etc. One coffee shop, not a starbucks, not that good. On the bright side, if you order for a group, the staff becomes confused easily and only rings up half your order. 50% discount.

    Dorm Life

    No dorms....

    Academic Rigor

Not all students are meant to go to college, despite what your high-school counselor told you. If you can't cut it here, don't waste your time applying to university. Do all the homework, whether it is assigned or not, take advantage of the free tutoring, and ask someone for help before the tests. There is no reason that any student can't get an A in any of these classes, if they apply themselves. Extra credit is offered in several classes. Do it.

    Tips for prospective students

Take as many classes as you can accomodate in your schedule, but do not try to be over-ambitious. Recognize your limitations and plan accordingly. Join some extra-curricular groups. Despite what the college will tell you, most universities do not want you to complete your Associates. It is a waste of money for you, despite what Lone Star says. Consult with your university advisor for your degree plan regularly.

    In three sentences

This college is a great resource to knock out your core classes for far cheaper than university. Don't expect a lot from either your peers or your professors, or you will be disappointed. This is a great place to get your GPA up to a 4.0 before transferring with minimal effort.

    Clubs and Activities

I am not involved in any.

Great for these types of students

The classes are not too big. I would say that the biggest class would proabably contain no more than 30 students. Being in class is very comfortable and there is much opportunity for student-teacher interaction.

I think the fact that the mascot is a duck is a bit odd.

    Bang for the buck

I love Lone Star, I think it is awesome and I honestly wish it was a four year college!

    What to do for fun

The school is very large and very nice and there are multiple chairs/benches/tables outside seated in front of the water fallls/lakes which are nice to sit on and do homework and or study! Also, there is a tutoring center on the second floor of the library.

Lone Star College System is a wonderful community college for one to start out his or her college career out. The campus is nice, new, and large, yet not overwhelming. Cannot rate so high on campus safety seeing as this school system has been on the news twice in the last year for a shooting and a mass stabbing.

    Greek Life

None that I know of, although i'm sure it's there.

    Clubs and Activities

Tons of clubs and activities available. Just check one of the bulletin boards in any of the buildings and be prepared to be overwhelmed with clubs and activities!

Great for these types of students

Anyone who like to learn by comprehending rather than memorizing.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

As far as I'm aware the nature trails are the only unusual location. Tomball also has a pasture used by the vet. tech. students that often has cattle or horses in it that you can take a stroll by and see them grazing though you cannot go in! (The cattle and horses do the grazing not the vet tech students [usually])

    Bang for the buck

Overall this is a great school to go to for your money, it has great education, great campuses, and the costs (tuition, supplies, books [ok books are insanely expensive but that's EVERYWHERE]) are not too crazy.

    What to do for fun

Some of the campuses are quite beautiful and walking the campus itself is an activity. The Tomball campus also has extensive nature trails and there are tennis courts, tracks, gyms, clubs, and other activities to keep you occupied. Campuses will also put on events, for example the German festival (food, music and dancing!)

    Food and Dining

Not the greatest food in the cafeterias, but enough choice that you should be satisfied during your breaks.

    Dorm Life

I don't believe this applies here unless there are dorms at one of the campuses that I am unaware of.

    Academic Rigor

Academically I believe this school excels when compared to other community colleges

    Tips for prospective students

This school has a way of teaching more material than some other of the community colleges I have experienced while at the same time making the classes more enjoyable and easier to pass. Here it is about learning the subjects not cramming material so if you can get yourself interested in the class you will probably do well by default.

    In three sentences

Usually pretty great professors and classes. The online systems and shcool technology can often go haywire which can lead to many headaches but when everything is working correctly it is all very up to date. The career programs (veterinary technology specifically) are truly impressive!

    Campus Safety

I feel like the safety of the campus could be improved, by adding more lights outside or having more officers that were just patrolling the area at night when the night classes are getting out. There has not been any big issues such as shootings or stabbings, which have occurred at other campuses.

    Greek Life

There is not a Greek life at this college.

    Clubs and Activities

The campuses have various different clubs that a student can join and have an active social circle. There are various clubs for different degree programs as well just like at a major university.

Great for these types of students

It is really great for students that are not just students, such as those that have families and are going back to school.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

I am not aware of any unusual traditions or locations on the campus.

    Bang for the buck

They are very reasonably priced if you liver there. However if you live out of district the prices almost double, and with gas it is almost as cheap to go to a university that you is close to you unless it is a prestigious university.

    What to do for fun

The university is very good about putting on things for their students. There are many opportunities to get involved there and to have the chance to participate in extracurriculars.

    Food and Dining

I do not know about their food there. I try to not eat out a lot any where.

    Dorm Life

There is not a dorm life with this colege system.

    Academic Rigor

There are some professors that are very good and there are others that are just easy As. It is about the same as it is with every other college.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that you read about the professors, and if nobody is taking a professor there is probably a reason why. Make sure that you do study though because that is how you are going to maintain a good GPA and get in to the program you are applying to, which are very competitive there.

    In three sentences

It is a good college, if you get the right professors, as with any college. The school experience there is a good atmosphere to get used to the college environment. They are very good about working with extenuating circumstances.

Recently there have been bad events at some of the lone star campuses, but that does not mean that it's always a dangerous place to go to. It would be nice if the campus could to metal searches before letting students on campus, but they don't because of their rules and procedures. Greater safety measures would be something they need to work on.

    Clubs and Activities

There are many clubs that you can join like The engineering club, Phi Theta Kappa, The Latin American Assosication, International Alliance, Anime club, Alpha Omega, and plenty others. Follow this link for more: http://lonestar.collegiatelink.net/organizations

    Bang for the buck

Like I said before, LSC is for students who want to save money, or for those who feel like they don't have enough money for a college education. You spend about $700-1000 for 12 credit hours including all the fees and then about $200-500 for books and supplies (varies). And if you qualify for financial aid then it covers all your costs for classes and books. (This is a good way to save than spending over $40,000 for the first 2yrs of a university education).

    What to do for fun

There are many things you can do for entertainment as there are events every day. First there is the Student center, which has ping pong tables, a movie room, and I think a game room. There are also many couches, and tables in which students can just hang out. For me the funest events are the student life events like ice cream BINGO, donut day, Octoberfest, pumpking carving contest, and other cool stuff you can attend to after or in between classes.

    Food and Dining

The food here isn't great, it's expensive heated up food that I believe is not worth buying unless you have nothing else to eat. I recommed future students to bring their own lunch unless you want to spend over five dollars daily on bad food. McDonalds and Subway are other options.

    Dorm Life

LSC does not have dorms as they are located nearby your parent's or the individual's home. Which is a good thing since you won't spend thousands living on a university's dorm.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on the class and each person's best subject, you might have easy to hard classes. For example I did well in my Government and English classes, but had a harder time with my science classes like Chemistry. So academically LSC has medium difficulty.

    Tips for prospective students

For students who are registering for classes, make sure you search who your professor is before taking their class. and register early as classes fill up fast. Find out who the good advisers are because some will help you out more than others.

    In three sentences

Lone Star College is a good place to go if a student is undecided on what they want to do, or feel unready to go to a university. Community College is the transition between high school and a university education and you get to save money for the time your there. I recommend this school to any one who feel they can't afford a college education or feel unprepared for it.
