Categories Comments Great for these types of students This college is great for those who want to further their career, for the young and old, just graduated or not ... basically anyone and everyone. Did I mention it's very inexpensive as well?
Tips for prospective students I would suggest prospective students take the course titled 'Counseling 1' it's a very simple class that provides all the tips and more to succeed in this college. I've just completed it and I can say it was VERY helpful.
Bang for the buck I'm saving thousands of dollars by completing all my general education requirements here and with financial aid and scholarships available I would say that Bang for the buck might not be enough to describe LBCC.
Am enjoying being here I love it! The students, teachers and staff are very friendly, so much so that I actually remarked afterwards that I felt like I had just walked out of a gingerbread house. Bunnies, people, and smiles are everywhere.
Am learning a lot I was planning on going straight to a four year university right after graduating from high school but life had its way (this time) and I, not to happily, applied to go to LBCC. Now a student I can honestly say this school turned my frown upside down and the teachers are so sweet and helpful. I'm learning a lot more than I expected to and, yes, you get your money's worth and more!!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Athletic students will like Long Beach City College, because it has a large array of sports to choose from, from swimming to football. Don't stop playing sports if you loved them in High School, or if you did not do so well back then. Now is your chance to redeem yourself.
Tips for prospective students If you're just getting ready to become a part of Long Beach City College, or any college for that matter, I would suggest that you take your most challenging courses first. Doing this will help you speed through school by staying in your high school mode. Take summer school classes because they usually have less homework and are a lot faster than taking a full length class. Pace yourself like a runner. Push hard in the summer, stride in the Fall, and build up momentum in the Spring.
Bang for the buck LBCC helps its students succeed by lowering prices for things like books and parking. Parking passes never surpass $25, and there are also some free spaces available near campus as well. EOP&S is a program that will help pay for your books, and other expenses you may have that Financial Aid will not cover. You will also have access to state of the art classrooms and computers that the school has recently purchased. Long Beach City College is continuously growing and building new things that students will love. You may be paying for Community College, but besides a dorm, you'll feel like you're at a university.
Am enjoying being here Long Beach is a very culturally diverse city. It seems like there is no one race that takes majority. You are able to make great friends on a beautiful campus with many amenities and resources at your disposal. The school parties and sports games are very exciting as well. Another cool detail is, if you do not like the campus you are currently at, LBCC has TWO campuses to choose from, The Liberal Arts Campus near Lakewood Mall and the Pacific Coast Campus located near Downtown Long Beach.
Am learning a lot Rememnber your favorite teachers in High School. Yea, the ones who cursed a few times, or told jokes to make you forget that you were in SCHOOL. Well LBCC is made up of professors just like your favorite teachers. You'll learn a ton of information, quickly and as much to your convenience as possible. They don't just hand you a ton of homework and hope you learn that way, they actually walk you through your subjects.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There had been a growing population of rabbits living on the Liberal Arts Campus of LBCC for as long as anyone could remember. During the two-day, Western University-staff visit at LBCC helped to see, that roughly 100 rabbits were spayed and neutered. Volunteers from LBCC's students, faculty and staff as well as members from nonprofits Best Friends Animal Society and the Bunny Bunch collected the rabbits, transported them to the mobile veterinary clinic, and provided them with post-treatment care. The goal is to have the bunnies adopted into safe homes.
Bang for the buck I found myself sought and contacted by the Phi Thetta Kappa International Honor Society, and I am so glad they did !! I was just plugging along and had no idea that I had even become an honor student. After being inducted I have found many new opportunities available to me for leadership and even scholarship qualifications !!
What to do for fun Whether it's visiting a museum or watching a performance, rooting for your favorite sports team, or even becoming a member of a renaissance period reenactment, LBCC is your place. Have an idea of your own? They are always looking for suggestions.
Food and Dining The food is pretty decent, and if you bring your own it's easy to find a microwave and condiments. The campuses offer a nice selection of indoor/outdoor tables. Differnent clubs always seem to be offering fresh barbecue lunches at a really good price as well.
Dorm Life There isn't an on- campus dormitory.
Academic Rigor You are all you want and strive to be. If it is becoming an honor student; you could turn any class into an honor class. Perhaps joining a club, a team, or study group is passionate for you there are many for you to choose from.
Tips for prospective students Access all of the many available resources at the school. I am a disabled student and have found that the 'Disabled Student Center' and 'Project Go' have been indispensable to me with an alternate study location and always having tutors present.
In three sentences Long Beach City College is constantly improving the campuses which is inspiring for me to continue improving myself. I am working towards an art degree and having professors that are all working artists themselves makes a positive atmosphere in the classes.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus safety patrols are performing outstanding work. I have experienced a few emergency situations on campus, and was impressed with their punctual attendance in resolving the matter at hand.
Bang for the buck I am truly blessed that I am even able to do, to learn, to think at the college level. I have always prided myself on being a strong minded individual, and knew that there was a bigger plan than I could have orchestrated. It is my intention to take full advantage of the years I have left, learning, experiencing and sharing the time and knowledge God has given me.
What to do for fun I thoroughly enjoy reading actively, mentoring the few students I have to share my knowledge with, the outdoors, bowling, football, baseball, boxing, pretty much all sports. I train on a daily basis, to keep myself in good health and mentally alert. Brain food, if you will. Too many activities to list. I am just a ball of fire!
Food and Dining I normally do not entertain the food gallery; however, I have heard several students comment that it is very good. Unfortunately, I have not had the same experience.
Academic Rigor I plan to maintain a high GPA throughout my journey, making it possible to achieve my credentials as a professor, and one day share my life and educational knowledge with serious students.
Tips for prospective students College is a lifelong attribute to your success. Take advantage of the opportunities afforded you, by attending school, and experiencing an enlightenment that may be positively overwhelming. Respect the professors you meet, as you journey through your educational goal(s). They have put the work in to educate students who care about a serious education, and are open to sharing that knowledge in their lectures, office hours, mentoring, etc.
In three sentences Long Beach City College is a very adverse community of higher learning. Students, for the most part, have little respect for their professors; the reason being, they are not truly attending PCC for the education. It's about the $$$$, like everything seems to be in life. I have been introduced to some outstanding professors, most of which I have a established a professional student-teacher re pore.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students People of different cultures and willing to try something new and meet new people.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Dungeon, otherwise known as the study area below the Nordic Student Lounge, also on the trip to the student success and learning center.
What to do for fun Join clubs and social activities. Discover the wide range of services offered for students.
Tips for prospective students If you're looking for a place with a very diverse mix of students, a wide horizon of opportunities to grow and progress as a person, student, and friend, then Long Beach City College is the place to go.
In three sentences Long Beach City College is a very diverse school with a very down-to-earth and real atmosphere. The faculty are great at doing what they do, the people there are friendly and open to meet new people, and the buildings look modern. This is a great community college that's under construction for new, bigger and better things.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I see the LBPD here and there but never on foot.
Greek Life Almost non-existent, I believe there are 2 or 3 organizations.
Clubs and Activities There aren't many clubs to join for the amount of students enrolled.
Great for these types of students All high school graduates and anyone who want's to learn a trade.
Bang for the buck The tuition is rising but it is still hundreds of dollars cheaper for the classes that you would get at a UC or CSU. (Same teachers at those schools somtimes)
What to do for fun Join a club and get connected.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is really good, a bit expensive but other than that it provides a variety of hot meals and snacks.
Dorm Life No dorms.
Academic Rigor There are a few tough classes but not everything is hard.
Tips for prospective students Register for classes ASAP preferably on your priority appointment.
In three sentences Long Beach City College is a great school that offers a variety of courses. Although budget cuts have really hit the school there are still a lot of good courses to take, as long as you register early to prevent being on the waitlist. It's a good school to knock off your GE's.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you just graduated high school, thinking about going back to school, or simply wanting to get a Associate degree i guaranteed you'll find just about everything at Long Beach City College.
Tips for prospective students It depends what you're going for if you are wanting to transfer try doing good in your assessment test because if you don't you'll end up taking non transferable classes for English and Math. Take a counseling 1 so that you can avoid from being confused and it also helps you to understand better at what you're goals are.
Bang for the buck Every class and instructor usually require you little material and they don't go ask you to buy these highly expensive books. I actually save a lot of money because the books are not that expensive. The parking, food, and ect is also cheap as well.
Am enjoying being here Yes i enjoy being at LBCC, at first i was skeptical about how things were going to be since it's a community college. I honestly have to say that i feel that LBCC offers most help than other community colleges.
Am learning a lot I started here in the fall of 2010 and currently still attending. Long Beach City college it's a really good school with the most helpful teachers. The staff are great as well and everyone is friendly. It has a really good learning environment and plenty of sources for you to succeed.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students It's good for students who want to get there general education courses out of the way for a low cost. And those who are going to work hard if they want to transfer.
Tips for prospective students Make a list on classes you plan to take, go onto rate my professor.com and really read the reviews to find those that while actually teach. I definitely recommend you do that for every semester so you do not get stuck with someone who seems mad about being there.
Bang for the buck Cost per unit is definitely afford able. You get what you pay for, average teaching. Overall prices are fair and not exaggerated.
Am enjoying being here I like the LAC campus. It's very nice, and classes are easy to find. But while there its hard to get to know people. Some people are so serious so you begin to not know who to talk to.
Am learning a lot The classes I have now are okay. They fail to challenge. Some professors do not care and seem to not want to be there. You either get stuck with a great professor or a bad one and that sucks. I am failing to learn a lot for the classes are not challenging enough and just plain boring.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you plan on transferring to a 4-year university and if you have an immense amount of patience. And don't drive, it has a shuttle to go between campuses.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you write down a list of questions before you have to do anything at any of the offices. And ask them repeatedly because they never want to tell you everything you need.
Bang for the buck I guess its okay, but I see this place as a waste of time if you have other options.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Nearby mall, a park is next to the college.
Tips for prospective students Incoming freshman should consider only taking around 12 units to not become overwhelmed and slowly grow to learn the college standards.
In three sentences Being that I have only been a student for this past semester (fall 2011) I am quite content with my experience so far. The college is nearby and convenient. I took an online class that was just a rerun of what I've already learned so it was very easy. The teachers are very kind and considerate to a student's personal life and have a fair weighing of grade.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Don't go into the restrooms alone at night. Get security to walk you to your car.
Clubs and Activities TONG is the beer-and-bimbos club.
Great for these types of students Not ready for University, yet.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There used to be Viking Dogs, there used to be bunnies. The T building is nicknamed The Taj Mahal because the royalty dwells there, far from the unwashed masses of instructors and students. Not the side that faces the street, the side that faces away. That's over 100,000 dollars worth of wood paneling in that meeting room where students aren't allowed. No go upstairs to the M building and admire the broken windows and cracked ceiling tiles in the classrooms.
Bang for the buck Admissions forgets to file GPA for CalGrants so students don't get them. If you can find a way to solve this problem (I haven't for three years now) you'll get more bang for your buck.
What to do for fun Balance your academic classes with creative or physical classes so you don't get burnt out.
Food and Dining Bring food from home or walk to nearby Pizza Hut, Jack in the Box, or other restaurants nearby.
Academic Rigor Depends entirely on the instructor and course.
Tips for prospective students Buy books online, then pick them up at the bookstore side entrance instead of standing in line. Avoid the cafeteria food, it's expensive and terrible. The N building has the only filtered, chilled water fountain available to students. Take Maxell for math if you're math-challenged.
In three sentences Good professors. Administrators for the most part take home huge paychecks while cutting classes, services and salaries.

Categories Comments What to do for fun You can join many of the school clubs, or even hang out in the Nordic lounge.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is very expensive and the food is not very good, It's best to go off campus for food.
Dorm Life There are no dorms here.
Academic Rigor The class atmosphere can be very challenging at times because of the large amount os students that some teachers have in a class. But there are some very great professors.
Tips for prospective students Try to enroll into classes as early as possible, It can be impossible to get into any classes if you wait too long.
In three sentences Long beach city is a great school, but there are far too many students enrolled. It is very hard to get the required and transferable classes, also the class sizes are horribly big with bad teacher to student ratios.

Categories Comments Campus Safety good.
Greek Life not present.
Clubs and Activities clubs tend to be active throughout the semester and many students join them and take leadership roles, for activities the clubs coordinates.
Great for these types of students lbcc has a very good nursing program for students.
Bang for the buck this is the only college where you will have no parking problem due to stadium next to school. students with valid stickers can park their cars. the college also has newly built parking structure which also accommodates a lot of cars; all this convenience definitely gives a better college experience.
What to do for fun join a club!
Food and Dining not so good, but there is a full coffee shop that seems to be a better choice.
Dorm Life unfortunately there is no on-campus housing.
Academic Rigor upper level classes are easy to get, there has been some very little cutbacks; as the college keeps its promise to help students reach their goals.
Tips for prospective students the teachers are also very knowledgeable in their respective fields. they go an extra mile in helping students understanding the concepts. long beach city college is definitely a good place to begin, if you are a high school student or someone who simply want to enhance your career if you are looking into colleges.

Categories Comments Campus Safety even though this campus has had certain campus violations i still feel very safe. we have currently had a man try to abuse a young woman making woman feel as the main targets when it comes to abuse. i as a woman it made me feel very insecure, not wanting to come here anymore. however, since that event happened the school has taken its precautions by letting people know that if they would like an escort to walk them anywhere they can just call.
Clubs and Activities there are so many clubs that is so hard to choose from. we have from educational clubs all the way to social clubs where teens are brought up together to becomes one. they have the chance to compete with one another such in sports, races, spelling bees, and many more.
Great for these types of students i believe that this college is great for all types of students because diversity is very high. this is one of the colleges where i have seen all types of races making everyone feel welcomed.
What to do for fun here at long beach city college there are many things to do for fun. starting with sports if your an athletic person that is willing to work out but yet have fun at the same time then i would say to join a sport. some sports that are offered here are volleyball, basketball, football, waterpolo, soccer, etc. for both men and woman. however, if students want to get involved with the community then there is volunteering clubs that not only give you a chance to get involved within the community they also give you the chance to get to know students and staff.
Food and Dining i as a student bring my own lunch or just decide to go somewhere to eat rather than the school cafeteria. food and dining is at its highest prices making students have a hard time affording it. my opinion on food and dining would be that prices are too high and that they should be more considerate since most of our money is going towars books, classes, gas, tools, etc.
Dorm Life at long beach city college i have not experienced the dorm life because dorms are not built in this college. therefore, if my opinion was asked about dorm life then i would have to say that i would love to have that experience in my future educational life.
Academic Rigor as a long beach city college students classes are not always easy they may be very difficult at times. my academic rigor would have to be on an average level. i have yet to experience much more difficult classes however, taking difficult courses does not mean that your expected to fail. studying will be the solution to all academic problems.
Tips for prospective students important tips that i would give ti prospective students would be to come with an open mind to every class, to be excited, and not be shy to ask questions. this campus is very welcoming and will give all students a true lifetime experience. another tip would be to join clubs and get to know students and staff that way students are able to gain networking skills.
In three sentences my experience as a long beach city college has been very great. i enjoy all my classes and truly look forward in coming to school almost everyday. this campus has given me the tools to succeed in life by giving students the chance to speak to counselors, transfer, and get to to work closely with certain staff.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are a ton of clubs you can participate in. Intermurials as well, which I enjoyed because I love sports.
Food and Dining I didn't really ever eat at school; I was trying to save money. But the times I did, there seemed to be a nice selection and relatively inexpensive.

Tips for prospective students Plan to get your G.E.'s taken care of. If you know what you would like to pursue, find out what core classes you need to take and what overall gpa you need to get into the school you want. Remember to have fun; it is college after all.
In three sentences Overall, Long Beach City College is a good school; however, I believe they need to improve on their counseling. I only saw a counselor one time and felt that I knew more about the questions I asked than the counselor. I believe there is definite room for improvement, but my overall experience was a good one.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There have been a few attempted sexual assault incidences over the last couple years which have led the campus to beef up its security. However, all students should be prepared, especially while taking night classes.
Greek Life There are no sororities or fraternities at this school.
Clubs and Activities You can start your own club with a minimum of ten members or join one already established. The ASB provides service hour and fundraising opportunities.
Great for these types of students Great for working students or those who want to transfer but want to get some cheaper classes out of the way before doing so. They have a variety of general education classes and specialized classes.
Bang for the buck This school offers a lot of financial assistance and they have financial counselors that can help guide you to the best options.
What to do for fun There's always something going on around the school. There will be student bands during lunch time as well as frequent fundraisers (i.e. mini grand prix)
Food and Dining There is a full food court with a variety of hot and cold but they are a little pricey, and if you're on campus a lot, this can add up! They do have microwaves and hot water that are available if you want to bring lunch from home.
Dorm Life I live off-campus on my own so I cant provide you with any guidance here! Plus this college does not offer housing.
Academic Rigor The degree of academic rigor varies depending on instructor and class. I have always been able to do pretty well, but they offer many free tutoring services that are included in student costs.
Tips for prospective students If you already know what your major is going to be, talk to the counselors and try to plan ahead to transfer, especially since the economic status is so up in the air. If possible, meet with your prospective transfer schools counselors to know exactly what they expect you to have ready at the time of application.
In three sentences This school has been pretty good to me over the last couple years; however, I was a little misguided in the beginning by the counselors. This caused me to be set back because I wasn't set up to take certain classes that I needed.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Most of the teachers at Long Beach City College provide an excellent educational experience to all their students. Although the cost of tuition is rising, it is worth the investment to attend Long Beach City College. Many university students agree that Long Beach City College provides the same education that they are receiving at their university.
Food and Dining Both Pacific Coast Campus and the Liberal Arts Campus offer a variety of food at their cafeterias. The food isn't so healthy, and it is a bit pricey, but there are options at every price range. They offer a wide selection of packaged, and freshly cooked food.
Dorm Life I don't live on campus, so I wouldn't know what the dorm life is like. I don't think Long Beach City College has any dorms, actually.
Academic Rigor The teachers at Long Beach City College provide an extraordinary learning experience. They are easygoing and are very helpful. They are very concerned about all their students and try to help everyone they can. The teachers try to teach in ways that are understandable and helpful to all of their students.
In three sentences Long Beach City College is an exceptional school with outstanding teachers and offers a variety of courses to all of its students. This school offers an education to many students and provides the benefit of helping students achieve their goals. Even though the graduation and transfer rate isn't so high, it is still a very good school to accomplish your prospective goals.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities The club that I am participating is totally awesome such a wonderful experience. The club that I am in is called Prayer Club basically what we do is our Youth Pastor comes and shares a bit of the Word of God every Thursdays from 12:30 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
What to do for fun For fun I will hang out to eat with my sisters right after Prayer Club which is awesome.
Food and Dining The food is OK its nothing fancy or anything like that but its good I really like the fact that when you order they make the food right in front of you and the people are really nice.
Dorm Life I really never stayed in the dorm with another student and I'm not sure if LBCC has dorms either.
Academic Rigor I think the Academic Rigor is OK thats why I gave it a 3 star rate.
Tips for prospective students One of the tips that I can give for a prospective student will be that when you start school on your first day don't feel nervous. Once you're attending all of your classes and work really hard in your class you'll do just fine. Especially if you take more than 12 units.
In three sentences I would rate Long Beach City College as an 8. The reason why is that even though I really didn't want to come to this school it really has helped me being able to get the credits that I need in order to transfer to CSULB. Also I been having a great experience on being able to participate in a club at LBCC.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There has been three attempted assaults during the later hours but that's it.

Clubs and Activities Econ Club Phi Theta Kappa Bible Club Prayer Club Philosophy Club Pagan Club Atheist Club World Dance Club the Order of Thor TnT girls club And those are the ones I remember off the top of my head
Great for these types of students Great for those who need a flexible schedule and the honor program is great for students trying to transfer
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a quaint little court yard hidden in the center of the English building.
Bang for the buck It is must cheaper than going to a four year right away and tend to be generous with the financial aid.
What to do for fun Clubs, concerts, random activities, there is almost always something going on.
Food and Dining Overprice and vary little variety, I almost always bring my lunch from home.
Dorm Life There are no dorms that I'm aware of, it's a city college.
Academic Rigor Most classes are just right but there are those few that are ridiculously easy and those that will make you want to cry.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you have a specific time devoted to studying and preparing for your classes if not, you are likely to fall behind and to beginning to feel like your drowning.
In three sentences Like every college, Long Beach City has some of the best and some of the worst teachers on the planet, but provides many additional resources to help succeed in even the worst classes. It offers workshops, tutoring, and supplemental instruction with the intention on helping all their students pass. As a bonus there are many clubs and activities that appeal to almost every type of student.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Seldom there were police cars parked around campus, but I very rarely saw any actual security or police people. While I mostly felt safe on campus because I stayed in groups, but the last semester I was there in particular, there were several assaults on campus. There also are only a couple emergency call stations only in the J parking structure.
Greek Life Mostly, Greek life was not applicable. There were a few clubs on campus who claimed to be fraternities or sororities, but I would not even compare them to Greek life at a 4-year institution.
Clubs and Activities There are a myriad of clubs and activities on campus. It is a great way to get involved with school. I chose to be a part of a service-based honors society. Whatever your interest is, there is most likely a club for you. However, some clubs, because they are student run, have one or two meetings at the beginning of the semester, but fall apart after that. It is definitely worth joining clubs for the social aspect.
Great for these types of students It is the best for students who don't really know what they want to do with their career yet, but want to continue their education.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The honors room is a hidden gem in the back corner of the library. You must be an honors student to go in, but it is a lounge/study area with free computers and free printing (within reason).
Bang for the buck The unit price has gone up so much in the past few years! I know college is expensive in general, but community college was supposed to be the less expensive route. It is not That much cheaper than 4-years anymore.
What to do for fun Clubs are about the only thing on campus to do for fun. Sports teams are also a possibility, but then you must sign up for them in your schedule, just like a class.
Food and Dining The cafeteria has considerable room for improvement. The cheap options are covered with grease and have been sitting out for hours. The slightly more healthy options, which are not much better, are outrageously expensive. The staff is mostly grouchy and abrasive. I ordered from the grill only once, where they served me a half-raw chicken sandwich. No thank you.
Academic Rigor The classes here are incredibly easy. Teachers expect very little from their students, and important deadlines are anything but. There are a few wonderful teachers at the school, but as a whole, it felt like 3 semesters of high school, not college. I am transferring out now, and with all the severe budget cuts, I am very glad I am.
Tips for prospective students Any students who are seeking a higher education, join the honors program! The honors classes are much smaller (about 20 students), the teachers love honors students, and you get much more personal attention. The classes are not even much more difficult; it's more about the small class style. I also suggest joining clubs as a new student to meet new people. Bring your own lunch, and find your group of friends. LBCC is very clique-y like high school. Also, get all of your general ed courses done right away, and obtain priority registration. My best advice to you: get in and transfer out.
In three sentences LBCC can be a good tool to bridge the gap between high school and 4-year colleges, however, the student must do all the work and research for their education; helpful guidance is not given often. With severe budget cuts, the entire student body and staff feel tension with the administration, as well as there being a lack of classes.

Categories Comments What to do for fun The library is very quiet and one can easily take naps in there. Watching the rabbits is also amusing.
Food and Dining The food is actually really good as well as really cheap. A good place time have a lunch break and catch up on school work.
Academic Rigor While some classes appear to be basic all classes require a certain amount of dedication. Reading and attending class is very important
Tips for prospective students Don't forget to buy your parking pass. Get to school early enough to find parking. Check on ratemyprofessors.com to sign up for good teachers. Don't leave DLA's until last minute.
In three sentences Long Beach City College is a very busy school, but I have very little complaints. I never had a problem with enrolling or getting into classes. Virtually everyone is willing to help with that they can.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is pretty safe. There is always an officer on campus. Pretty well lit. Rarely, there are some incidents.
Clubs and Activities One of my favorite clubs was Alpha Gamma Sigma, the honor society at LBCC. They always had many activities and volunteer events happening all year round. There are many other clubs on campus, however. Usually there are miniature competitions among the clubs which are tons of fun.
Great for these types of students Great for students trying to explore and find a fitting major. Also, if you are just trying to get a degree and head back to work, they have quick an easy ways for you to do so. If you are trying to transfer, many transfer resources that help you achieve that goal.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have campus bunnies. Rabbits that are scattered around the campus. Traditionally, we are welcomed to volunteer and feed them. Very fun tradition.
Bang for the buck As for many California community colleges, you can get a diverse number of resources to help you succeed in life. Whether it's transferring or earning a certificate to advance you in your career. This school is affordable for everything that it offers. I found that many of the professors on this campus are distinguished in the way they teach. They are passionate about their subject and really want their students to learn.
What to do for fun Join the a club. They are great at doing fun on-campus activities that help you make new friends and stay involved on-campus. Join a team like track or soccer. Take a gym course. These are always laid back and fun, but help you stay fit. Near campus there is the Lakewood Mall. Come with your friends here to shop, dine, or watch a movie.
Food and Dining Cafeteria on campus. I regularly eat here. They have healthy options; for instance, healthy smoothies. There is a pizzeria in the cafe that's tasty. The dining area can be a bit small. But, the surrounding outdoors has plenty of grass where you can sit under a tree on beautiful Cali day and enjoy your food.
Dorm Life No stars, because this is a junior college, and no dorms available.
Academic Rigor Some classes are truly challenging with great professors that help you learn more than what's subjected in the books. However, there are many fun courses that you can take that are slightly more flexible. Always keep exploring. The art, music, athletics classes are a blast, so take advantage of them here.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to turn in important documents, like financial aid or transcripts early. If you are a high school student, then you should take an assessment test early as well. Make a meeting with a counselor as soon as you apply if you know what major or program you are interested in. Counselors are helpful in planning your academic career to help you transfer/graduate. Remember to talk to your counselor about the Honors Program. The Honors Program has transfer contracts that can help you secure a position in the University of choice (although, not all universities have this contract with LBCC; UCLA does).
In three sentences LBCC is a well rounded community college that offers many resources that aim to make it affordable and also help students achieve success. Recently renovated, LBCC is a school that strives to be number one by offering many courses, a variety of programs, and increasing the infrastructure to meet the demand of the students. Lastly, this is a great school for any person because LBCC strives to respectively understand each individual's needs to succeed.

Dorm Life I live at home.
Academic Rigor My English and math instructors have been fun, but at times were very challenging, and it wasn't to my surprise to see kids dropping. However, It depends on you, not the teacher.
Tips for prospective students Allowing a teacher to get some one on one time to see how you process what they teach can be very crucial to both you and the teacher. If you are taking courses at LBCC, then use the library; it's extremely useful.
In three sentences The math and science department is ran by amazingly smart people. Don't be afraid to go to them during office hours because doing so can really make a difference in your grades.

Categories Comments What to do for fun LBCC does offer many athletic options for fun it's a great way to socialize and do things that are productive. LBCC also provides many clubs and out of class activities to do. Even some of the tutoring is pretty fun.
Food and Dining You have plenty options on where and what to go eat at the campuses, and the meals are not bad at all, or if you have a car there are plenty of local restaurants and stores to find something to eat.
Dorm Life Its a community college dorm life doesn't exist.
Academic Rigor Classes are strict! Which is a good thing if you ask me. It motivates you to accomplish and learn more. The professors really allow you to participate and get in touch with students which is awesome it takes away some of the stress in handling college.
Tips for prospective students Stay alert with your financial possibilities especially if you are an out of state applicant. Make sure to attend orientation at the school in personal much more helpful than online orientation. Take placement test early in the summer you do not want to forget material and be put in lower classes you should be taking.
In three sentences The school campus in the outside looks nice, the inside however could use a bit more work classroom size isn't the best but its adjustable. The enrollment process to the school is easy and fast which is good. However financial aid guidance and counselling are not the best.

What to do for fun Joining clubs of interest can be very fun. You can meet new people with similar interests and make good friends.
Food and Dining Buying food or snacks from the cafeteria or from the student store can get pricy if purchases are being made daily. There is not a variety of healthy choices in the cafeteria as well. I would recommend bringing a homemade lunch a few days out of the week depending on your schedule, thus leaving a few extra bucks in your pocket as well.
Dorm Life Long Beach City College does not have any dorms.
Academic Rigor Majority of the classes available can present a challenge for many students. Some classes can be very high-stressed while others are more relaxed.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The safety is not that great the school is very much open so any one can step into the campus, there is no regulation on who is allowed to go in.
Clubs and Activities There are many clubs to choose from at this campus from clubs that do things for the community to paint ball shooting. A wide variety of clubs.
Food and Dining There is not a wide variety of food that the school offers, mainly the basic foods such as pizza, salads, burritos, chips, sodas, waters, and juices. It's not like university's that have fast food restaurants in their cafeteria.
Dorm Life There are no dorms in this campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is a sheriff's office on campus and there are police men and women roaming the campus daily to ensure that the school rules aren't being broken and to make sure that everyone is safe. Every hour on the hour a police vehicle drives through campus to make sure that no one is in danger. They are available at night for the evening students, should they need an escort to their car.
Greek Life The closest thing to Greek life on campus is the social-service clubs. Pay a fee to be a member, do community service and mingle with the more socially active students on campus.
Clubs and Activities Student life is the heart of the activities and fun on camps. There are always food fundraisers, themed events and musically involved events taking place that are operated by the clubs on campus. It makes for a lively environment and a place to make many friends. There are social-service groups, honor societies and special interest clubs (i.e. French, Archaeology, Christian, German, Medical, etc clubs). Most of these events and going-ons are funded the Associated Student Body Government, which is also a large source of campus and community involvement for students.
Great for these types of students This school's Liberal Arts Campus is great for motivated and transfer-oriented students. It's Pacific Coast Campus is perfect for students pursuing a trade, seeing as how it is largely a trades campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There campus has a variety of wildlife (i.e. people-friendly birds, bunnies, cats and squirrels), it's the cutest thing you will ever see.
Bang for the buck Long Beach City College is worth the money that you pay, which is current at $60/unit + a health fee.
What to do for fun Most of the fun comes from the campus club-executed activities and actually being a part of the clubs themselves. During the winter months, they have holiday themed events and dances. During Halloween they host carnivals for kids and haunted houses for the students, during valentines day, there are rose/chocolate/stuffed animals fundraisers and there are always charity events going on. They have homecoming fairs and games during the fall and Mini Grand Prix events during the Spring where teams come together to build go karts and race them for a prize, queen and princess contest take place and scholarship opportunities are available here too. This campus is rarely lacking in something fun to do.
Food and Dining The food in the cafeteria is pricey and frankly not worth the price, but the eateries around the school make up for it. Most of the dining resources around the school are within walking distance (approx. 5-8 minutes)
Dorm Life Long Beach City College is a commuter school and thus does not have any dorms and therefore no dorm life.
Academic Rigor In general, the faculty at Long Beach City College is a very diverse and equipped one. Of course, there are always going to be bad teachers wherever you go, but this has some award-winning faculty. The main programs of study here are economics, business/accounting, psychology, English, political science, communications, mathematics, engineering, biology/other sciences, nursing, international studies, education and sociology. So this is a pretty good range of majors to choose from, especially since I only named the more prominent ones, but there are more. The school is set up on a semester system, but it is slowly working it's way to becoming a quarter system (or as close to it as possible) in order to become a school of greater preparation for transfer to university (since most are based on the quarter system). The classes can be difficult but there are so many resources (i.e. math, English/reading/writing and multidisciplinary resource/tutoring centers, supplemental instruction and the professors themselves.) The library has plenty of study rooms for group studying and is full of individual study cubbies. It is a quiet and peaceful environment which will aid greatly in advancing in your academics. Finals time can be hectic, but where isn't that the case? Overall, LBCC is a fine academic institution.
Tips for prospective students Apply for scholarships early and always. Use rate my professor as your guide for picking your classes for the best experience and best preparation. Go around the campus to familiarize yourself with the resources available to the students. Visit the library and academic buildings, they are each separated by field of study, and invest in a semester parking pass, it is worth it. I suggest you pack your own lunch seeing as how the cafeteria food can be a bit pricey, but there are plenty of restaurants and eateries around the campus neighborhood. Get involved in extracurricular, especially the honor societies and ambassador programs, they will help you very much in networking for university, if you plan on transferring. Most of all, JOIN THE HONORS PROGRAM! Best thing you will ever do here. It seems like a lot, but all this can be taken care of in a matter of a week. Enjoy!
In three sentences LBCC is currently being renovated and even though the construction sites can sometimes be a hassle to get around, you can tell that it is going to be well worth it; the campus is going to be gorgeous. It has one of the best Radio and Television, Culinary, Political Science and Film programs available within the community college system (in general, the academics here are very solid). The administrative services are staffed with amicable people and anywhere you turn you run into someone friendly and willing to help, campus-wide.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Long Beach has police officers on campus as much as possible.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of clubs on campus and over 400 to choose from.
Great for these types of students Long Beach City College is great for commuter students. There are plenty of transits that run through the city and will get you to the college.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Long Beach City College welcomes bunnies on its campus. Most of them are black and they are the cutest things ever! You can spot them most of the times in the mornings and in the afternoons as well.
Bang for the buck If you attend Long Beach City College you will definitely get a bang for your buck! This school offers many UC and CSU transferable courses along with various associate degree programs. You are guaranteed to save money and decrease your future debt when transferring to a university!
What to do for fun There are plenty of things to do for fun. There are numerous clubs that students can join, and shows/concerts to attend.
Food and Dining Long Beach City has a cafeteria and a food court. The food here is pretty decent, but there are also surrounding places were students can grab a bit to eat if they are not satisfied.
Dorm Life No dorm life
Academic Rigor Long Beach City College is as hard as one makes it. Rate My Professor.com comes in handy.
Tips for prospective students Some tips that I would give for prospective students is 1. Meet with a counselor at least 3 times out of the semester 2. Keep track of all the classes you take 3. Study on a regular bias
In three sentences Long Beach City College is a large Community College with two campus sites. One is the Liberal Arts Campus and the other, the most popular, is the Liberal Arts Campus. From almost two years of experience at Long Beach City College I rate it a 4 out of 5.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I personally think that being in LBCC makes me feel safe. Securities are everywhere. Some are just posted on one side and others are walking around. Which is really great! However, just always be smart with your decisions especially if you're taking late night classes. It's always better to walk around campus with a friend.
Clubs and Activities During club networking days, don't be afraid to walk around and check out the clubs the school has. Joining a club is a great way to gain new friends and just have fun. It would even be much better if you're joining a club that can help you with the major you are pursuing or just school in general. Maybe even join a club just for the fun of it or to try something new. Just have fun!
Food and Dining The LBCC cafeteria offers different kinds of food. There's burgers, fries, salads, and many more. You can even make your own sandwhiches like in Subway. There are also chips, pizza, and fruits as well. I really like the food they offer but I wish they have more staff and varieties as well.
Academic Rigor This school is a great place to save your money and pursue your academic goals. Make sure that you meet with your counselor because they will definitely give you an overview of how college will be like for you in terms of the classes you are taking. It is wise to be set on your major as early as possible. This way, you can follow a specific plan (A (AA degree), B (transfer to Cal State), and C (transfer to a UC)) where you can narrow down both the classes you need and the classes you can take. It's going to save you a lot more money if you only take classes that you really need for your major. This is why using the Plan as a guide is important because not only does it show you the requirements but also the classes that are available for those requirements.
Tips for prospective students It's important to have an open mind and be mentally ready. The first week of college can seem pretty manageable. But keep in mind that that's only the beginning. The instructors are there to challenge you and make sure that you genuinely learned something from them in their course. Take advantage of those who open their office hours for students who need help. If you really need help on something, even after you tried figuring it out on your own, the student centers are open for you and you can also ask your instructors. Time management is critically important. Always be aware of deadlines. If deadlines are given for any school work, try to be a step ahead by completing them as soon as possible when you can. And of course, don't be afraid to meet other students. They're really friendly. College is also about meeting different types of people in one place. Make note of that and just do it. Goodluck!
In three sentences LBCC has a clean and great learning environment. The students and staff are very welcoming as well. This school opens a lot of opportunities to make friends with other students, find a place to study, and get the help you need in order to succeed academically.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very safe it is located on a major street and near a neighborhood.
Greek Life There is not really a greek life, mainly because it is only a two year college.
Clubs and Activities The clubs are fun and there are so many you are bound to find one you love!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus A lot of LBCC is under construction right now so there are not that many cool spots at the moment. Sometimes you can see rabbits roaming around the campus though. I think they like the grass areas.
Bang for the buck The location is great, the campus is safe and I really do feel like I am making a lot of friends and learning a lot.
What to do for fun Join clubs! Meet people! Go to the sports games. Basically, just get involved.
Food and Dining The food is pretty good. I usually eat off campus just so I can study on my own. I think it is pretty tasty.
Dorm Life There are no dorms on campus ,but I know some students that rent houses in the nearby area or that rent apartments near Long Beach City College.
Academic Rigor It can be challenging ,but the work is manageable. The teachers really try to challenge you which can be good.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Not much security around, yet you wont find an officer not to far from any sites.
Clubs and Activities For the college size, there is defiantly a wide variety of clubs for students to participate in.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who wants to transfer.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Usually in the center of campus you got students who flip around and dance which is a good site to see. One location that's comfortable would be the student service room where students just basically chill until their next class starts.
Bang for the buck I love the teachers on this campus, they don't want students paying high bucks for books and that's something I value. My first year here I was able to not spend more than 200 bucks and the rest of the pell grant was for me to save. I understand that it is a community college and much more cheaper when it comes to enrolling but it's not much a bang for the buck for me.
What to do for fun I personally enjoy participating in a wide variety of clubs and campus events. As a student, you need to be connected to your campus and really enjoy what it has to offer. In LBCC, you wont go a day without seeing a group of kids flipping around in the center of the campus, or students dancing, even club events that really connects the students.
Food and Dining Definitely a good meal in this campus. A wide variety for students who is in need of an appetite. The only problem I have is the price of the items, and I feel they take advantage of the students.
Dorm Life Since it is a community college there aren't any dorms.
Academic Rigor For as long as I've been here, everyone wants you to succeed. Teachers, counselors, friends, family, the academic behind it wants you to succeed. It's challenging especially what majors you aim for but in the end, the school does supply great transfer programs as well as tutoring for students.
Tips for prospective students Really enjoy college for what it has to offer, I feel it may be taken advantage of but really do what you got to do to succeed. Participate in events and get connected with the school such as events, programs, counselling. But overall, college is flexible and it's definitely not high school.
In three sentences Long Beach City College is a great school and highly encourages it's students to transfer to UC or Cal States. Just by reviewing the orientation online, this city college is a great start towards my career as a pursue a degree in business. With the help of current students(clubs, organizations etc.), counselors even the EOPS, any student would guarantee admissions to any universities or cal state with the passion and determination to succeed.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Like I said before, the school has a great environment, and I've seen fights at other schools before I've seen a person trip on their own foot at this one.
Greek Life Huh?
Clubs and Activities The clubs are pretty productive; from anime clubs to community service clubs, many people join to find people of like minds. The only problem is many clubs aren't broadcast as well as others, so students have to search for them.
Great for these types of students Great for social students! The campus is teeming with lively talkative students constantly.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Going back to the sausage eating contests and root beer drinking contests for Oktoberfest.
Bang for the buck In honesty, the school does very well for a community college. It wasn't what I expected, because it's actually a really good environment, and it's a great place to go swim, play some sports, join events, or just sit down and enjoy a nice book.
What to do for fun The library is a great silent place to go and read. Sometimes clubs will have events like karaoke, club days, and even sausage eating/root beer drinking contests! (for Oktoberfest). Events usually take place in the lounge.
Food and Dining The food is excellent, and the staff work around the clock to keep the cafeteria in tip-top shape.
Dorm Life There aren't dorms at the school that I know of.
Academic Rigor The classes are difficult enough to challenge one, however, sometimes instructors may tend to forget that most students are new to subjects that are being taught.
Tips for prospective students Do not take classes for granted. Most teachers will help, but classes are college level classes, and most teachers have to fit a lot of information into only five months! Procrastination will definitely lead to failure.
In three sentences To put bluntly, many of the courses at this college are a wake up from the real world. The courses are tough, but there's a multitude of great teachers, of course ignoring a few. Overall, the school is a decent school to continue my studies at.

Categories Comments Campus Safety For the most part the campus is safe and is located in a safe neighborhood.
Greek Life Honor Societies on campus use greek letters, I wouldn't consider them fraternities or sororities.
Clubs and Activities LBCC has an active club life with plenty of activities for clubs to do.
Great for these types of students Clubs are great for students who are already outgoing, or for students who have never been involved in school activities.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus LBCC has a homecoming in the fall, and has a Spring Sing and Mini Grand Prix event in the spring. Intramural sports are also popular on campus and bring clubs together in a fun, competitive way.
What to do for fun Get involved by joining a club. That will be all the fun you will need.
Food and Dining I wish they had better food. Most food isn't tasty or healthy, and the dining area needs to be remodeled.
Dorm Life Im not quite sure if LBCC has dorms.
Tips for prospective students Take courses that have long sequences first like math or chemistry. Get involved in a campus club to increase your networking and your experience while at LBCC. Do not be afraid or ashamed to seek tutoring if you are not doing well in a course.
In three sentences This school allows a student to explore different majors, so its a great school to attend if a student is not sure what to study. Most professors are challenging and encouraging. Categories Comments What to do for fun There are many things to do for fun around the campus and off the campus. One of the things I love is that with my service card I can go to certain restaurants and get a discount for being a student at LBCC. This doesn't only include restaurants but theme parks as well.
Food and Dining The food in the cafeteria isn't so great. Its not the worse but not my favorite either.
Dorm Life There is no dorms because its a community college. If you wish to rent an apartment they can help you find something cheap and close to the campus.
Academic Rigor The college itself doesn't have have an academic rigor. If you as an individual don't take classes seriously you will have consequences. The teachers have a big role on this yet they all have a different way in accomplishing their goal to help you as a student.
Tips for prospective students A tip is that if your enrolled in a class make sure you everything in your power to pass it. Its better to start off strong than slack off and procrastinate in your career.

What to do for fun I like to hang out with friends and family. some times on campus just walking around and talking is fun.
Food and Dining don't spend a whole lot on dinning out, just maybe a little from like lets say if you pass a class or for a friends birthday, but don't go out like every night. Now the food here is really good.
Dorm Life I don't know much about dorms, but from what you see on movies.
Academic Rigor If your just starting just keep up with your studying don't slack off at all, because when you keep up with the work it really makes your classes easier. And just keep trying and really aim for your goal, don't give up.
In three sentences It is a fun school, and most of the teachers really do care about our education. The environment feels like a safe place, where you can trust the students and employes. And its really disability safe ( for people with any kind of disability).
