Categories Comments Great for these types of students Millitary minded, Military bound, Disiplinary reasons, Physically fit
Tips for prospective students In order to be extremly succesful at this school is to be an exceptional leader if not. You can be on time for every event/ class follower orders from your superiors and you should have no problems
Bang for the buck The school is pretty expensive but with enough scholarships and finacial aid anyone can attend.
Am enjoying being here Its hard sometimes because of all the rules. But at times it can be a fun place and some of the people here are friends that you wiill keep for a life time
Am learning a lot The classes are small if you are used to small classrooms. There are not many challenging courses here. But there are a few classes that will have you pulling an all nighter like your average college. You will also learn a great amount of leadership skills

Tips for prospective students you'll meet some amazing people and if you go you're going to dislike parts of it just work through it you'll be thankful for it later.
Bang for the buck its so cheap for such good quality!
Am enjoying being here its a kind of love the people hate the place ordeal but you love it regardless when you leave!
Am learning a lot class schedule is pretty simple and easy. some classes might seem pointless but they help you for the greater cause in the end

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Students who are looking for the Military lifestyle in college or are prepping for a service academy, or if you are planning for the ECP program.
Tips for prospective students If you decide to attend MMI then make the commitment to yourself to stick it out, if you do then you will have an experience of a lifetime.
Bang for the buck I was on an athletic scholarship so I didn't have to worry about money, but the school is too expensive in my opinion for the students who are not on scholarship.
Did enjoy being here There were many things that frustrated me, but that comes with attending a military school. But I also had some of the best experiences of my life and made some lifelong friends. The bonds that are formed here are unbeatable.
Did learn a lot There were not a lot of challenging/advanced classes offered, but you get a lot of experience learning, such as leadership.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities None... Closest club is in Tuscaloosa (45 minutes away)
Great for these types of students Hard Workers, Military Bound, Determined, Fun, and easygoing people.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus MMI is one of the most haunted places in the country. Kind of fun to have a paranormal experience every once in a while!
Bang for the buck Great courses, very hard schedule, military lifestyle, and much more.... Just come here to find out for yourself!
What to do for fun Go to T- Town , Lift Weights, Enjoy your friends (even though it is nice to get away every few weeks) Join an organization.
Food and Dining If its good healthy organic food you want than run away. I pride myself as a healthy eater and try to stay away from the fried greasy foods. Unless you want a Salad for every meal, this is literally impossible. However there are rumors of them changing the food line-up... I hope this is true!
Dorm Life Dorms, or Barracks are for the most part pretty bland. As the years progress they are making much needed upgrades, but for the most part they are very old. This school was founded in 1842!
Academic Rigor My first year under the SAP program was very intense, it lives up to an academy courseload and really challenges you.
Tips for prospective students Have an open mind, stay positive, befriend everyone, and just try to have as much fun as possible.
In three sentences Truth, Honor, and Service, is the motto here and it really shows. In just two years you can be an up and coming 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. Or in just one year be on your way to one of five service academies, overall this school will help you reach your goals and help you gain an insight on what is important in life.

Categories Comments Food and Dining The food is not bad, but the chow hall is only open at certain times.
Dorm Life The males and females are separate and the beds are not half bad. Coming to a military school expectations are horrible, but it is really relaxing during the day.
Academic Rigor A great one on one experience with the professors. The average class is only 25 students. The learning possibilities are great.
Tips for prospective students Keep an open mind when you first get here. The first two to three weeks are the hardest.
In three sentences Marion has a wonderful learning environment. The school keeps military away from the academics, but also has opportunities for nonmilitary obligated students to dip their toes in the military life. Coming to Marion has been a great choice for me.

Categories Comments Campus Safety One security guard at a time, with a campus that can be accessed at any section of the campus by the outside community. Lots of items were stolen from barracks, and they did nothing about it.
Greek Life None.
Clubs and Activities Wrestling, tennis, baseball, softball.
Great for these types of students Those pursuing a career in the military.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus You can carve your name in the chapel. You can get underneath the chapel, called the tunnels.
Bang for the buck Not at all.
What to do for fun Workout at the gym, or play sports during free time, or random stuff with fellow company members. You don't have much free time.
Food and Dining Terrible. Boring and unhealthy fried foods, pizza, everyday. There is a salad bar and sandwich bar available, but that gets very old. You are only allowed to leave campus for an hour at dinner, and even then, there is nothing in the small city to eat.
Dorm Life The potential student would live in a barracks, rooming with one other person, unless you are a second year person. You are lead by other senior cadets and you dorm life is based on the leadership skills and integrity of the respective leadership team.
Academic Rigor Classes are terribly easy unless you are taking SAP classes, preparing for the service academy. The instructors are terrible as well.
Tips for prospective students Do not go just to go. Either go with the goal of commissioning (ECP program) or go to try and get into a service academy (SAP program.) The basic or LEP program is a waste of time.
In three sentences Marion Military Institute, MMI, is a unique and worthwhile place. The rewards and end results are well worth it. Although, the school itself is terrible.
