Around Town

Bowling, Skating, Movies are free the first thursday of every month for us at the movie theatres. We have parties.

For fun you can attend BPB events, mixers or go to neighboring schools.

If you have a car, then that;s fun for you.

Staunton is a historical and pretty town filled with lots of quirky shops. Students enjoy the movie theaters, thrift stores, organic grocers, and coffee shops offered downtown. The American Shakespeare Center (in walking distance from the school gates) also puts on great plays. On campus it is suggested that you audition in the theatre, or join a club or sport for fun. Having a car is ideal if you want to party, as JMU is one of the closest colleges to us.

There isn't much to do on campus. However, there is a theatre you can go to, two movie theatre to go to, and Gypsy Hill Park to take a break from campus and stroll around the park. You can even feed the ducks!

Down town sometimes has live music and events. You have to drive a bit for some really good fun. Not a lot of shopping close by you have to drive at least 30-40 minutes for that.

Shakespeare theatre, movie theaters, coffee shops, park, all in a safe environment. Campus is small so the officers know who belongs and who doesn't. They approach and speak to people who they don't recognize.

Every month the Baldwin Program Board hosts a movie night where students can go to the movie theaters for free and get either a free popcorn or drink. The movies are current and change every month. They also host other events, like Spa Day and Apple Day. Each dorm has their own events as well.

Mary Baldwin is located within the historic downtown of Staunton, so there are quite a few things one can do for fun. The school also organizes activities, events, and mixers.
