    Bang for the buck

You can't beat community college prices. You'll be saving up for the rest of your college career (and after).

    Campus Safety

MCC has continuous on campus security officers who are there to help everyone in any way as well as typical campus grounds security and surveillance.

Great for these types of students

MCC is great for every type student because they offer such a diverse study curriculum and most every major and degree available anywhere.

    What to do for fun

MCC has many organizations, groups and gatherings on and off campus. A few of these would be Circle K, Spring Fling, and community and charity gatherings. These are just a small few to choose, join or participate while here.

    Food and Dining

MCC has an awesome cafeteria, your normal drink and snack machines throughout the campus, fresh coffee stand of many types and flavors, but best of all Bubba's Good Eats has a pull along that comes to campus each day around lunch time to prepare their great food for all.

    Dorm Life

    I live off campus.

    Academic Rigor

I feel no matter what school you choose whether it's MCC or another if your not willing to give your all and work hard in every class you need to ask yourself why you want to go to school to start with.

    Tips for prospective students

The only tips I have for anyone interested in MCC would be to take advantage of everything they offer for your experience at school. Some of the classes or programs, etc. may seem silly but they really help to learn the necessaries for attending college and having a good experience doing it.

    In three sentences

Mayland community college has helped me feel comfortable returning to school after many years. They get an A from me for all the counselor support, labs and help for everything in general. I am so enthused, I would recommend anyone in the area to give them a try.

    Campus Safety

During campus hours there is always one or two security guards on duty. They make rounds and make sure all campus rules are being obeyed.

    Greek Life

Phi Theta Kappa is the only Greek Life offered by Mayland and unfortunately our chapter is currently inactive. I think it would be wonderful if we could get more fraternities and sororities involved at Mayland.

    Clubs and Activities

Mayland offers a few clubs and clubs can be started by students themselves if they meet the guidelines and are approved by the SGA. I do believe it would be great if Mayland could offer more clubs for students.

Great for these types of students

Students seeking a two-year degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Medical Assisting, or to become a RN would really enjoy this college. Also, students seeking a two-year transfer degree in science or arts would appreciate Mayland as well.

    Bang for the buck

I receive in-state tuition cost and I honestly believe Mayland's prices are very fair especially for the assistance you can receive from the staff. Books on the other hand are kind of pricey but I imagine it could always be worse.

    What to do for fun

You can join one of the few clubs that students/teachers sponsor and create based of certain interests. Mayland offers a Music Club, SGA, Student Ambassadors, and Circle K Clubs a student can join. Every Fall and Spring, Mayland's SGA hosts a Fall Fling And Spring Fling in which students can congregate, dance, and participate in various activities set up.

    Food and Dining

Mayland offers vending machines with sandwiches, chips and other variety of snacks along with Pepsi and Coca-Cola drink machines as well. Also a local business brings a food truck and offers restaurant food during lunch time for students to buy.

    Dorm Life

Mayland does not provide dorms or on-campus living.

    Academic Rigor

Classes at Mayland are challenging but the staff is amazing if you are having difficulty. The class sizes are manageable for teachers and they are able to offer real one on one assistance.

    Tips for prospective students

Mayland is a jewel in the mountains of NC. When you need some down time there are plenty of scenic and relaxing sites that can give you the inspiration you need. Also Mayland has many advantages and looks great if you are transferring to a four-year university.

    In three sentences

Mayland Community College is a wonderful school for young and older students no matter how long you have been out of school. Friendly and helpful staff are always there for you to answer questions or to help guide you on your academic journey. Fellow students offer support especially if they are seeking the same degree you are and make the college experience a lot more enjoyable,
