Categories Comments Campus Safety
Campus security has improved with officers station at night stations around on campus housing till about 11pm Throughout the week. At night you can ask an officer to walk you to your car, or ask to be dropped by your car. There has not been any reports of crime on campus as well.
MMC is a HBCU, so there are only active black greek organizations. The only greek organization active on campus are Alpha phi alpha, Omega psi phi. There are students from other organizations at the school, however their chapters are not chartered.
Clubs and Activities
I would like to speak about the clubs, but i only go to 1 to salsa dance. Ibiza, it is well known here for that. As far as other clubs, my classmates often go to different places, so i am sure that there are clubs here to attend.
Great for these types of students
MMC is good for rich students Students who want to get away from their family Students who to become a medical doctor, dentist
Bang for the buck
If you ask me, you never go wrong going salsa dancing.. make sure to try that!
What to do for fun
On campus...nothing. Off campus, shopping and the malls like greenbriar mall, horse back riding just outside the city, historic site, zip line, music city hall and other historic sites at your leisure
Food and Dining
NO FOOD AND DINING. Food u can get is at the hospital across from the school but that is also two thumbs down. You have a lot of food options in Nashville don't get me wrong. Outside of Nashville the options are vast.
The campus housing is pretty much simple. They offer style housing with not kitchen called Dorithy brown, and apartment style housing with kitchen for 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms. Also they say you can't have pets..... I guess u can have fish.
THE WORK IS A LOT. Like all medical schools, if you feel like the work is light, please fear that you are not being pushed. Some of the work feels like busy work. Meharry is trying to have more group learning activities as is required by LCME( Medical School Licensing board)
Tips for prospective students
For any medical school... Before you start make sure you really want to become a Doctor and that you have what it takes. After that Cry ... When you are done Your classmates are not your enemy or opponents. At MMC, it is all do well or get hurt. Help each other. Be friendly with your professor, always respect them when you speak to them. Especially in the first two years of your medical school, as they determine the grades that you make and whether or not to give you curves.
In three sentences
It is an expensive college that will train you to become a physician in this changing field of medicine. Prepare yourself for your character to be challenged, and reshaped. Meharry is becoming more diverse with the entering class of 2017 being the most diverse in it's history.
