    Great for these types of students

    As long as you are okay with tons of students, a downtown location, and if Metro has your major, Metro is great for any student.

    Apply! As long as Metro has the major that you're looking for, you couldn't get a better deal on college.
    Bang for the buck

    This school definitely gives you a good bang for the buck. (Is that how you use that phrase?) It's the best deal for college that I have ever seen. It's very affordable. If it weren't for Metro, I don't think I would be able to afford to go to college.
    Will enjoy being here

    All of the staff and teachers are very polite, helpful and nice. The campus is in a convenient location. Let's just hope that the students will be just as great!
    Will learn a lot

    All of the teachers that I have meet seem to be very professional and experts in their subject areas. The classes are taught by the professors and not by student aids. The class sizes are smaller, so that means more access to the teacher. I believe I'm going to be learning a lot here.

    Great for these types of students

    If you want somewhere that always had life and has a wide range of class hours and days then this is for you. you can work your classes around your life and not have to work your life around school. if you work a job then its a good place to go because you can always use the light rail or the bus to go where you need to go.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you don't mind the big moving school then it's for you. They offer a lot of great programs there. It might not be the whole dorm living college but there is still a lot of life there.

    For being such a big school its really cheap. You don't have to pay an arm and a leg to go there. But just because the tuition is low it doesn't mean that its a bad school. I'm happy that they have made it where you don't have to pay so much just to get a higher education.
    Am enjoying being here

    i really like how many students go there. There are a lot of students from different ages and cultural backgrounds. And you can't say that there's nothing to do there. Your right there in Downtown Denver. There's always something going on at the campus that you can join in on.
    Am learning a lot

    The learning level is good. There are a lot of different type of teachers there and from the one I've had they were really cool. Plus if for what ever reason you didn't understand the teacher they all have a wide range of office hours that you can go to. If you still don't get it you can always ask one of the other teachers in that department. Then there's always the old fashion way and that's going in for tutoring from students who might be able to explain it to you in a way you understand. though i wont lie there are some old teachers there and you play a gamble with them. some are old and put you to sleep and there are others that are awesome.

    This is a great campus for students who like the urban atmosphere. It is great for people who like to connect with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
    Tips for prospective students

    I believe the most important part of school is to stay on top of assignments. Getting to class on time is also a huge part of success, when class starts, class starts. There is no backtracking or filling in. Most of college routine is picked up by the students, a person has to discipline themselves in order to learn the way of the student. With a great environment at Metro, it is easy to get int he groove of college life.
    Bang for the buck

    Every dollar spent on this campus truly stays here. Abundant knowledge is gained at Metro and every dollar spent truly goes toward learning. The text books are incredibly useful because they completely sync with what the professors have planned in the syllabus. Textbooks can be pricey, but with the help of online purchasing and bookstores scattered throughout downtown Denver; also there are many other students willing to trade books, there is no reason to complain about the price of textbooks with that many alternatives.
    Am enjoying being here

    The campus is great; it is a diverse environment where people speak freely about many topics. It is very difficult to not get involved. There are so many things to do, with clubs and organizations everywhere as well as fraternities. The only problem I would say is the campus is an Open Smoking campus. I am not a smoker and I do not enjoy the second hand smoke I get walking from class to class. Otherwise the campus is a very positive environment and very student oriented.
    Am learning a lot

    The teachers are amazing here. I have been a student since 2009; when I began my college journey I had no idea what to expect. I was actually very intimidated from what was to come. The professors are very friendly and easy to work with. The education is tough at times, but the professors are incredibly willing to guide you through the work. My experience in the classroom has been a very enjoyable experience, and the knowledge I have gained through the years is worth every minute spent.

    Bang for the buck

    Tuition is affordable, and the school also provides many work study opportunities. There is also a store near the 16st Mall that will sell and buy your textbooks for a better price. Its really convenient because its just a block away from campus. It really is a great school if your on a budget. Quality education for a great price people!
    Am enjoying being here

    The campuses is pretty small and classes are easy to get to. The whole school is close to home, and I just LOVE coming downtown! Even when its snowing, raining or just plain foggy, the campus and city always have a beautiful view.
    Am learning a lot

    Metro was a great is a great school to start of a college education. Being a first generation student, I was pretty scared the first few days but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. The professors are real helpful and also very friendly. There is a lot of material to learn but I got a lot of help from professors, student aides, and even other classmates to get it all done. The classes are pretty small and that really helps when you feel stuck on a subject. Overall I received a lot of help when I needed it and now I feel ready for finals, and prepared for the next semester!

    the campus is full of cops but there are always plenty walking around on foot, some in their patrol cars and the rest on bikes. they don't over crowd or cause too much commotion, but they are always present.
    Clubs and Activities

    the soccer and basketball teams in the 2nd division are pretty well respected, and i'm about to join in on the court club. let's see what they're all about.
    Bang for the buck

    the text books here are very expensive, but then again they are everywhere. so make sure you pick them up on amazon as soon as possible. everything else ais about regular price except when the discounts and offers come in, than those are way low.
    What to do for fun

    the library is open until 8 at night, the tivoli has a few lounges that can be used at any time of day, and the also have a game room and a pool hall. not to mention the gym with the weigh room and basketball courts, and as always the people on campus can always find something to do.
    Food and Dining

    the food court here has some fast food like mcdonald's and because we are stationed in the middle of down town, there are food places everywhere near by. especially at the 16th street mall. you'll definitely fine something you'll enjoy there.
    Dorm Life

    i don't know about dorm life, i don't live in them.
    Academic Rigor

    the classes here are very self explanatory and require much attention to the readings. some instructor will help out with the explanations and some wont. either way its a long process of studying for any and every class.
    Tips for prospective students

    there is no need to worry and stress yourself out when thinking of becoming a college student. the fear that it is impossible is ridiculous. as long as you were well equipped in high school, you'll be fine on the campus.

    metro is a great campus with very lively staff. the students are all pretty quiet and calm and the environment is amazing. i don't know much about college life but metro's campus life is amazing.

    People who love the city lifestyle, who are very open to all other types of people.
    Tips for prospective students

    Public transportation; learn to love it. I was one that couldn't enjoy it, even thought it was a convenience to not have to drive. Riding this was always packed, in the morning and after school. Being a stuffed sardine everyday wasn't something I looked forward to.

    If you come here you definitely will get a great education compared to the tuition you pay. It is very student oriented and wants the best for each and every one.
    Did enjoy being here

    Even though the classes were good, I did not like the school that much. I did not know many people at this school. You might think, didn't you meet people? Yes I did, but since this was a commuter school, majority of the time, the people I met at least, lived too far away from me so it was too hard to get together with someone. The other part is that since it is an equal opportunity school, many older people not my age (whom I do not have any issues with) attended here which was another reason it was hard for me to make good friends with people.
    Did learn a lot

    The classes I took for my first year of College here were great. I learned many things I did not know and it was challenging! All my teachers were very interactive and cared about each student in the class.

    What to do for fun

    Since Metro is just on the west edge of Downtown Denver, you are within walking distance of the 16th Street Mall, which has a lot to do. There are various clubs and activities going on at campus all the time. You have access to many different things with your Metro ID card; just ask!
    Food and Dining

    There are a lot of places to eat around campus and in their Food Court in the Tivoli Building on the north side of campus; there is also a food bank where students can get a few items per week just by being a Metro student.
    Dorm Life

    I don't live on campus; I live in an off-campus apartment.
    Academic Rigor

    Overall I have been very impressed by the working knowledge of my professors. Again, don't be shy about asking them for help.
    Tips for prospective students

    Get to know financial aid and how it works early on, and don't be afraid to ask questions - those who work in there are mostly students and will know how to work with you. Don't be afraid to talk to your instructors and get to know them - office hours not only help you understand the work involved for the class, but also help you make connections with professors. And always keep contact with other students - you'll be able to help each other out!

    Metro is a school that offers a lot of potential and I have truly enjoyed my experience there. Overall I have had wonderful instructors and now that I am getting closer to earning my degree, I find that I have very knowledgeable professors in my department. I work in the Food Bank under the office of Student Life and have loved being able to work this work-study job, which allows me to do my homework when my work is done for the day.

    dorm life is pretty good. since i am not living on there yet but my brother is, he says that it is safe and friendly and just a nice area. the mountains are a beautiful view!!!

    academic rigor isn't to bad but that is how i like it. the classes are pretty easy if you study and know what you're taking!

    it is a beautiful campus and so many friendly people. classes are nice sizes and you get one-on-one with the teachers. you have time to study and you are not over worked!

    Metro State is best known for it's affordability. Quality education for not a whole lot of money.

    There is an art house on campus that runs independant films. The city of Denver is full of fun stuff like museums, festivals, art gallaries, bars, sports, and restaurants. The Denver Performing Arts Center is in walking distance from campus and has great shows like ballet, orchestra, dance, and musicals.
    Food and Dining

    Pretty good food options like sushi and Mad Green salads. Also McDonalds, Subway, and the usual fast food places. The prices are reasonable.
    Academic Rigor

    No harder than any other school.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you have health insurance and are not participating in the school's health insurance program, make sure you submit your waiver early because you will probably run into problems with it.

    In general Metro State is a good school. Teachers are fantastic, but administration could be much more organized. The college is in the heart of denver and is a very unique place to go to school.

    You can do just about anything from going out and drinking a beer with friends, to going to a nuggets, Avalanche, or Broncos game.

    There are many on and off campus places to dine and just go out for fast food so its extremely good in this category.

    If you choose to live in dorms there are many things to do , being in the center of downtown Denver the possibilities are nearly endless on what you could be doing on your free time.

    There are many classes and majors to choose from and some are harder than others, but its relatively easy to attend and maintain decent grades.

    The best thing for prospective students to do is stay on top of homework, and actually go to class and you'll be fine!

    I think that MSU Denver is a great place to attend school and earn a four year Degree. Metro is a good school because of its affordability and closeness to everything in Denver. The learning program is good here and there are several student help centers to go to for guidance and help.

    This school is fantastic for students who want a great learning experience, a lot of diversity and chance for great friends, have a low income, and want to go to school in the heart of Denver. Seriously the campus is just a 5-10 minute walk from 16th Street Mall.
    Tips for prospective students

    The campus is BIG. So make sure you familiarize yourself with the campus before classes begin that way you know how to get to your classroom on time and not get stuck asking for directions. Also look at the campus map or at the acronyms for the various buildings on campus. Also when you get your books use the Auraria Campus Bookstore website to find your classes and the books for those classes. Copy the ISBN numbers for the books you need and get them used from Amazon.com or new and you'll save even more money for tuition.
    Bang for the buck

    In comparison with other schools MSCD has a relatively low tuition cost. Compared to other 4 year schools my educational debt is about 3 times lower than some people I know that have gone to other schools. I will have no problem paying off loans after school because the cost of MSCD is so affordable.
    Am enjoying being here

    I absolutely love being a student at MSCD. The fact that it is one of three schools on the Auraria Campus means that there are even more students to interact with and an insane amount of diversity. The facilities and grounds of the school are well kept and very nice.
    Am learning a lot

    The faculty and staff of MSCD are phenomenal! Their attention to detail and how the students are learning the subject material is just fantastic. Most instructors have excellent office hours to provide extra help when needed.

    Apply online, and then explore MetroConnect as much as you can! There are little gems in there that will make you life much easier!
    Bang for the buck

    In state tuition for this college is fantastic! Their online application, payment, and financial aid process keep you informed and make sure that you know exactly what needs to be done.
    Will enjoy being here

    So far, the campus has been beautiful and the commute has been fairly pain free. It does cost about $4.50 to park every day, which is a pain, but they do provide free (you pay for it as part of your tuition) public transportation as long as you are a current student. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any fellow students yet, and have only spoken with my teachers via email, but nothing in the registration or admissions process gave me any second thoughts at all.
    Will learn a lot

    I am currently enrolled to take Introduction to Cryptography and Intro to Theory of Computation. The book for my cryptography class is so good that i have already read it before class started. My teacher's have been very responsive via email, and I see no reason why that should change during the school year. The school provides excellent non-traditional classes and has been wonderful at assisting me in selecting an appropriate educational path.

    Metro State has a nice urban environment as it is located in the heart of downtown. However, it is a commuter school so it does not have the same environment as some universities. Metropolitan State is a great school for part-time students.

    all sorts of clubs, free recreational classes, outdoor adventure trips, campus events and of course just playing frisbee on the lawn.

    there is a cafeteria but there is not a meal plan type set up so its just the normal food court type venues.

    there are no dorms really, they have student housing close but they are not directly affiliated with the school.
    Academic Rigor

    i have never been taught by a teachers assistant at metro, always by a doctor or at least a qualified professor. the teachers take learning seriously and so do the students. this is not a school to mess around at.
    Tips for prospective students

    this is a commuter campus that requires you to actually try to connect with people in order to make friends but completely worth it if you are willing to put in the effort. a very inclusive atmosphere and not condescending or full of itself, fun campus with a diverse mix of people attending. you can find pretty much anything and anyone at metro.

    an inclusive, affordable but serious college focused on serious students who are there to learn. metro has and continues to grow and is now one of the highest rated schools in colorado. a school to be proud you attend.

    the tivoli building has a pool hall and arcade room. the recreation center has a rock climbing room, a pool, and a gym so you can play different sports and/or workout.

    on your off hours, hang out around campus. meet new people, get involved with the campus' events and activities. volunteer on events that sound interesting, it can be very rewarding.

    there seems to be a lot of greek activity going on. letters can be seen all over campus, and tables are usually set up in the court yards. the most predominent greek organization is sigma sigma sigma. i transferred from suny plattsburgh and am a proud alpha phi. i have heard nothing but good things about the tri-sigs.

    there are a lot of clubs and activities to choose from. there are also fairs every semester that all the clubs participate in.
    Great for these types of students

    this school is great for returning adults. all the professors are willing to work with adults who have busy work schedules, and the entire campus is built for commuters.
    What to do for fun

    there are a large variety of clubs and greek organizations to join on campus. there is also a gym and pool available for students with an id card.
    Food and Dining

    i truly enjoy the einstein brothers on campus. there are also a variety of places to eat in the food court, including a subway and salad bar. the pizzeria is also very nice, with pizza made fresh right in front of you every day. it is also nice to be able to have a beer after class, for students that are of age.

    there are no on campus dorms. there are a few student houseing facilities, such as the regency. these student houseing facilities are extremely over priced compared to the student housing in ny.

    the rules are strict and professors enforce them accordingly. they require that each student strives for perfection.

    work hard, and be honest with your professors if you have any issues. most professors just want an honest student that is putting in 100%.

    metro's tuition is rather cheap compared to the other universities in colorado, and the best part of that is the fact that the education and teachers may be even better compared to these universities.

    metro is located in the heart of denver. it is a 10 minute walk or 5 minute light-rail ride to get into downtown. there are tons of different places to eat!

    i do not live on campus, but heard some neat things about it. the dorms are close to school and they often have a lot of different amenities that come with it for students.

    there are easy and hard classes, depending on what your criteria is.

    metro is a great place to go with a variety of classes and majors. they are a great starting block to find out what your interests are.

    Modern, Urban, outgoing, commuter students, working students. If you love Denver this is a great school.

    It is more affordable than the two big universities in Colorado but I think my education is just as challenging and beneficial.

    Get involved. The Tivoli always has something going on and they hold a lot of events and concerts on campus.

    I have yet to find a class that wasn't challenging if you did the work assigned.

    Downtown Denver has everything from clubs to fun resteraunts and festivals in the summer and only 30 minutes from campus is the mountains where you can camp, hike, climb, fish, whatever you like to do in the mountains!

    The campus is right next to downtown Denver, so it is really close to some of the best resteraunts in Colorado.

    I commute from home, but through tuition I get a free light rail pass which is really helpful. I use it everyday!

    While I am learning a lot, I feel like the work load is not overwhelming but I still feel like I am getting the education I need to pursue a graduate degree.

    Subway, McDonald's and taco bell aren't necessarily the best choice for food, but on a college budget they are OK. Luckily there is a pretty good pizza place in the tivoli and since it is located downtown it is easy to get to better food choices.

    Haven't experienced the dorm life, but from what i've heard it's pretty fun.

    Challenging but not too difficult it makes you want to quit.

    Always get your textbooks early, and rent or buy used rather than buying new ones. Get your walking shoes on, it is a large campus! Don't put school work off until the last minute, a lot of courses are designed to slowly build up to larger projects, so it is fairly easy to keep up with them.

    I feel that I am attending college at one of the safest campuses ever. We have our own police station. Just about every corner has an emergency pole, and with just the push of a button the police are notified and BAM, there they are helping you with whatever you need.
    What to do for fun

    There a TON of clubs, and activities that you can join and I suggest that! Get to know people! Get out there and BE ROWDY!
    Food and Dining

    The Tivoli is one of my favorite places to go on campus because of the food selections, as well as the resources. There is Tacobell, McDonalds, Subway, as well as a chinese food restraunt available downstairs!
    Dorm Life

    MSU does not reqiure living in a dorm, you can stay at home, but they also have plenty dorm experience opportunities. I currently live at the Auraria Student Lofts, and I love it. I have the convienece of just walking to class. My cousin lives at The Regency, which I believe is also a very good experience with a free shuttle ride that takes you back and forth between the Auraris Campus, and the Regency. I have visited and they have pretty decent food, as well as a lot of activities to do, including their own bowling ally downstairs!
    Academic Rigor

    Although the classes are small, the academics level is still the same at any other University.

    There have been some weird incidences this year involving a man flashing young women, and a crazy person swinging a sword around campus, but if you ever find yourself in danger there are phones places all over campus to alert the police, and the police even have their own station on campus. The students and staff are always willing to help someone in need, but anywhere is dangerous at night. The surrounding areas of the campus can get a little sketchy, but the Light Rail and bus systems are actually extremely safe ways of transportation, me and my girlfriend take it to school every day.
    Clubs and Activities

    There are many clubs offered at metro, and many of them even offer help with job placement and scholarship opportunities. Whether you aspire to be a teacher or business entrepreneur, you are more than welcomed into the clubs here. Signing up for them is easy, and most accept just about anyone, even if your major does not match the club type. You can even create your own club, as long as you find a teacher sponsor and at least 4 others to be in your club.
    Great for these types of students

    The only department I am assured of their excellence is the Music, as that is my major. All of my non-major classes ( Im chasing my minor in English as well) have been stellar. My philosophy classes were amazingly interactive and always came with a fresh perspective. The music is challenging and fun, the instructors have very expansive backgrounds and teach the fundamentals and advanced techniques of music in a way that appeals to the small classes, so the instruction is always minded towards the personal growth of the individual.

    There is a hand drumming group that plays openly in traditional wear and sing hymns. There are always fun tents set up around campus to learn more about local shops, i esp. like it when the longboarding company sets up =] From protesters to presidents, something crazy is always happening here!

    Quality education for minimal monetary contribution. Even though any money is a lot of money these days, you wont be paying 50,000 dollars a semester, but your education will be priceless if your willing to work hard and be persistent.

    Right next to Elitch Gardens and the 16th street mall, the downtown location makes it easy to explore Denver and all of its wonderful culture. Metro offers Clubs from philosohy and business, to volunteer and activism clubs. There's even a Quidditch team now, LOL

    If you are willing to push yourself, you can make even the freshman level classes as hard as you want. I had papers that were supposed to be about 1200 words for English comp, but I talked with my teacher to get extended time and ended up writing pieces about 3000 words in length. Now, those papers are being submitted to editors and publisher and will hopefully be in the hands of the public sometime soon! =P

    The more you are willing to push yourself and get involved in all of the programs and activities associated with your future plans, the more you will get out of your experience. Metro offers 1 on 1 tutors (excellent for Music Theory) Writing Center opportunities to have a teacher help you with anything English related, and many clubs that will help you with job placement and expanding your resume and portfolio.

    The music program here, for performance and education, is incredible because of the teachers, practice rooms and small class sizes. For the money your paying, there is no other school in Colorado that will give you a better education in this department (Just about everyone i know pursuing a music degree ends up transferring here if they didn't start at Metro). The teachers here actually care about your personal growth, and will not sugar coat anything; they will push you to achieve your best and help you excel at all aspects of musicality.

    Living in a dorm is not a requirement at Metro so I opted out of living with a stranger. But I would assume it is a pretty good experience because one of the dorm buildings are right downtown and you would get to experience the night life of the locals.

    Make sure your class times are scheduled at most an hour apart because any extra time will make the day seem longer and you will end up dreading the college experience.

    There is SO much to do in the area. Boulder and the campus of CU Boulder is very close, so if you have friends there you can always visit them, as well as CU Denver and Denver University. There are tons of beautiful places to hike, bike, or just go for a nice walk. In the colder months, ski resorts are very close to the school and are a popular spot for students attending colleges in the area.

    The amount of food choices available on the campus itself, let alone Denver as a whole, is astounding. Discount are given to the dorm residents at most of the restaurants and fast food places on campus, making it easy for all these college kids to get the food they want, when they want!

    The dorms that are connected to the campus are very much like nicely styled, fully furnished apartments. They are affordable and seem as comfortable as any dorm, even many apartments, in the area.

    While I am not currently enrolled in this school, from what I can tell of my March visit here, the academic rigor is above average, because of the wonderful teachers employed by the school and the inventive and original curriculum's they have put together.

    It's a very safe campus. There are always officers patrolling and if anything funky is going on nearby campus they send out e-mail and text updates to let us know what's up.

    It's great for all types of students. You can really get the college experience by choosing to live in the dorms, but it is also great for non-traditional students as well because they offer evening and weekend classes to help work around busy schedules.

    Even though it doesn't compare to the pricing at a community college, it does provide a four-year degree at at-least half the price of other schools, such as CU and CSU, so I would definitely say it's got a BIG bang for your buck!

    You're downtown, so apart from all the clubs and activities on campus, the 16th Street Mall is close by and filled with fun, as well as Larimer Square.

    Metro doesn't have cafeteria per-say, but there is a McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Subway in the Tivoli, along with a teriyaki and soup/salad joint. There is also a really great pizza place in the Tivoli. In addition to all of that, there is an Einstein Bros. Bagels on campus, and since you're downtown, it's only a short walk to all the places that downtown has to offer.

    Metro has dorms, but students are not required at any point to stay them, which I find nice because I'd rather have my own apartment - but the option is always there.

    I haven't had any classes that have been too challenging or easy, and everyone has always been open to working with me, so I wouldn't say they are just about perfect for academic rigor.

    I do not know about all of the fields at Metro. I do know that Metro State has one of the mots rigorous music programs there is. They will give you one credit courses, that you have to work HARD for in order to receive an A or a B.

    Stay focus and alert at all times. Go to school to learn, and be all that you can be, yes there are plenty of activities, organizations, and groups to get involved with, but you want to make sure that you are not in school forever, so do your best to enjoy it, but remain focused at the same time.

    Walk across the street to the performing arts center or downtown Denver. Walk over to Euclid Hall to have a beer on class break. Campus is also walking distance from Coors Field, the Pepsi Center, Sports Authority Field at Mile High, and Six Flags. 16th street mall downtown is full of food shopping, entertainment, street performers, and even the Clock-tower Cabaret.

    Right in the heart of downtown Denver, so there are tons of bars and restaurants within walking distance. On campus the food selection is good, the cafe in the science building makes great wraps!

    The Tivoli is a very interesting building and holds a lot of history. It was once a beer brewing company and within you will find many of the same parts. Many of the houses on campus are historical and were long there before the school was.

    Overall I felt it to be a good choice for me. At times you begin to feel challenged and even overwhelmed by the work and academics in general but, find the support that Metro has to offer and you will find relief.
    What to do for fun

    Metro offered different on campus events that the students could get involved in. Often times there was free movie nights at the Tivoli and many different sports and activities that students could choose from.
    Food and Dining

    Metro has a food court containing mostly fast food restaurants and two healthier choices. There's a McDonald's,Taco Bell, Alfresco Greens, Subway and wok and roll. After a while the food court got old and I found other little spots within the Tivoli that offered alternatives. Since Metro is so close to downtown, you have access to pretty much anything your feeling hungry for.
    Dorm Life

    Metro's dorms house three campuses: UCD, Metro and CCD. The dorms are within walking distance to campus and it would be a great area to live because your right in the heart of downtown.

    Metro has bigger class sizes. With this said it was a little intimidating for me and was difficult for me to recieve the one-on-one attention I was used to. Since there was so many students a professor rarely knew you individually by name.

    Stay focus and be prepared to get tons of homework. Metro definitely has a great academic support team along with limitless resources. Seek out opportunities and take advantage of what your school has to offer.

    There are plenty of movie theatres, sports, and clubs on campus so that it is hard for a student to be bored while their on campus. There are also libraries and even arcades.

    More like a 3 1/2... there seems to be quite a bit of homeless people on campus. They generally leave you alone but every once in awhile there is something that happens. Just keep your guard up to anyone who approaches you with odd questions - I had someone tell me they needed me to walk them to a particular building because he couldn't read the map that was right next to us.

    Many people enjoy the multiple sports stadiums that are all within a mile from each other that offer baseball, football, hockey and soccer games. The stadiums also offer many concerts from the some of the top performers in the music industry. The theater of performing arts puts on amazing plays and musicals filled with enjoyment and wonder.     The Auraria Campus police are great. They're unobtrusive and help to keep the drifters from downtown off of the campus. There are emergency call centers with lights on top all down the campus. There isn't much crime on Auraria Campus, but the crimes that do occur rarely seem to go unreported.

    The Tivoli building on the Auraria campus used to be a brewery. There are still a bunch of beer crates on the walls. It's the most noticeable building on the campus. There are also a couple of cathedrals and a small Jewish temple.
    Bang for the buck

    I've heard from transfer students that Metro's classes are at a very similar skill level to those at more prestigious schools such as CU and CSU, and that the only difference is that you pay far less to attend. I'm very pleased with the benefits I've received as part of my tuition, such as student health insurance, a membership to Auraria's gym, and an RTD pass (which has been VERY handy).
    What to do for fun

    Auraria Campus is conveniently located by the Light Rail. You're only a stop away from the theatre district, two stops from 16th Street Mall, and a skip away from LoDo's and a number of clubs and bars. There's also a lot to do on campus. They have open mic nights, pool in the Tivoli, book readings, and plenty of extra-curricular events to partake in.
    Food and Dining

    There's an entire food court and a couple of restaurants in the Tivoli building, as well as many food vending trucks on campus until about 4 or 5 PM. Food is usually reasonably priced, fast and good.
    Dorm Life

    I don't live in the dorms, so I can't tell you for sure. My friend lived in the dorms last year, and ended up with a roommate that she didn't get along with, but that's the risk you take any time you choose to live in a dorm. The buildings are relatively clean and well-protected.
    Academic Rigor

    Metro has some wonderful and engaging professors. So far the work hasn't been too hard for me, but if you get confused or have a question, you can always get on the school's portal website and email your teachers and classmates for help. I'd say that it depends on the courses you take.
    Tips for prospective students

    My first tip to you would be to join the First Year Success program if you're going to be a freshman at Metro. You'll make friends and study buddies in your two conjoined classes. Also, know where all of your classes are before you start. You don't want to be wandering around aimlessly on your first day of class.

    It is best to take up any questions one might have about classes, heath insurance, financial aid, etc. in person. It is common when calling some departments that sthe tudent will be bounced around from one department to another because the staff does not know how to answer the question at hand.

    The Auraria campus police take safety seriously. They are a silent presence on campus and alerts are sent out via email to all students when something has happened. There is also an alert that can be sent to a cell phone if it is signed up for it. I feel safe on campus.

    There are many clubs to choose from that are already established at the school. If one is not found that suits you, it is easy to start one of your own.     Being an older student, I find it interesting that in my classes there are a wide range of not only ages, but diversity in backgrounds is also seen.     The small class size and the availability of the professors to help students individually is overall the best equation for a complete education. I feel that the ability to converse with fellow students and participate in class is essential to learning. I have been given this at Metro.

    There are plenty of opportunities for fun on campus. There are symposiums on many different topics throughout the year. Theater, sports, conferences, live music, food, giveaways. The list goes on. There is definitely something for everyone.

    The choices one has for dining are as varied as the population. There is a food court in the Tivoli on campus, as well as gourmet food trucks and small eateries in some of the buildings.

    The academic rigor of the classes at Metro is average for an undergraduate degree program. I have found that Metro offers an immense amount of academic and social support. If one needs help with their studies the opportunity is there to get it and be successful in their academic career.

Take the time to find out what services are available on campus such as tutoring and labs.     There is so much to do here because being in the city, there are many spectacles to see. Where the mountains are not too far and the city life is right at hand, there is so much to do here. The Rockies stadium is close by the campus as well as the Denver Convention Center that hosts many annual events as well as the Mile High Stadium, where the Colorado Bronco's football team plays, even to the Ogden Theater that has many famous musicians perform to the famous Red Rocks, all the way to the Buell Theater where you can enjoy the symphony or the ballet are all not too far from the campus. Some granted are a little farther than most but not too bad.

    There are many great places to eat since it is located in Denver. Some affordable and some not so much but the diverse of food you can access is within reach.

    If you are looking for that traditional college feeling where the campus is really close to the dorms and such then this school is probably not for you but there are many great spectacles near by. The mountains are near by so you can go skiing or snowboarding and the Rockies and Mile High Stadium are close by too. Denver is filled with much entertainment and good food and also offers many educational opportunities in many different aspects as well.

It has its positives and negatives like every school but the fact that the campus is shared with two other schools makes the school much more diverse-- that being a good thing.     I believe our campus to be relatively safe. It is located in the heart of downtown which does tend to have an increase in criminal activity. The campus police tend to be very visual on campus allowing a sense of safety. There are emergency phones available at a variety of locations. There is also a great reporting system of any issues that arise on campus. We are notified nearly immediately if there is an incident. I feel safe on campus.
    Greek Life

    I do know there are some Greek life avaiable on campus but I am not a part of it. I don't really know much about it either.
    Clubs and Activities

    There are a ton of clubs available to those on campus, though you generally have to search them out. In my program we have a Geological Association Club that does various activities from hiking trips, visiting local attractions, and even movie nights. These are open to all even those not in our program and more often than not the teachers often participate. The campus also has an outdoor adventure program that offers various activities from camping trips, kayak trips, and rock climbing. They also have equipment available to rent at extremely reasonable prices.

    This campus is great for any type of student. Depending on your program the classes can be very flexible and fit many different lifestyles from people who work, those with families, and those right out of high school. I find the teachers are very supportive and understanding of different situations. Having a family myself, I have brought my children to campus and field trips with me.

    Many holidays are celebrated on campus regardless of religions. I find the variety of culture and openness on the campus and the open celebrations of many traditions exciting and refreshing.

    With the increase in many tuition and the cuts for higher education I think Metro has reasonable tuition rates and wonderful programs. The staff I work with are wonderful and very knowledgeable. I'm excited to be a part of the program I'm in.

    Coors field, invesco field, and the Pepsi center are just blocks away where our state teams play, many bars and clubs right downtown, mountains are an hour away for great skiing/snowboarding and amazing mountain life. Many lakes for the summer.

    Metro shares a campus with CCD and DU. The Auraria Campus has its own police department who regularly patrol the campus. If anything unsafe does happen, the campus has a notification process that informs students from all 3 schools that an incident occurred.

    Metro has several food courts and the campus is regularly filled with food trucks from local venues. If none of those are your cup of tea, Denver's 16th St Mall is less than a mile away and has several other dining options.

    There are no dorms on campus since Metro is a commuter college. However, there is student housing available nearby for those interested.
    Academic Rigor

    I am currently in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program and it hasn't been overly taxing just yet, but the second half of the program becomes highly rigorous and demanding.

    If you are thinking of coming to Metro, I highly suggest attending one of the 2 Open House events that occur annually (before fall and spring semesters). There you'll have an opportunity to meet with the heads of each department to find what would be a good fit for you.

    Colorado is a non-stop option of fun. Going to the mountains to snowboard in winter or a hike in summer. Broncos games in the fall, or Nuggets/Avalanche games in winter. There is never a dull moment.

    Although their are reports of crime on campus (Such as petty theft) this campus is equipped with armed security guards that protect the students that come here.

    There are several amazing clubs on campus that can account for almost any potential interest. I personally am a member of the school Honors program as well as a vibrant Christian organization on campus.

    The Student Union Building was once a brewery and some people think it may be haunted.

    This college is extremely affordable (Which is one of the reasons why I came in the first place) while at the same time offering quality professors and top notch program (The Teacher's education program is one of the best in the state)

    They have some great food locations directly on campus and being downtown, this campus is conveniently close to various other food options as wells.

    Curriculum is fun as well as challenging but none of it is beyond the capability of an average student. Many professors encourage active participation in their classes which can only be done by being fairly well versed in the material.

    This college comes with a bus and lightrail pass that is included in your opinion so be sure to take advantage of that. Also be sure to become involved with organizations on campus, especially if you plan on commuting to school so that you can still make friends and be involved.

    This is an amazing college! Campus is located right in the heart of Denver with facilities that accommodate this tri-college campus. All of my professors have been passionate in their area of study and class size is small enough for many of them to become familiar with you personally.
