Great for these types of students

Millersville is great for all types of students. there is something for everyone there.

    Tips for prospective students

To perspective students when you get to Millersville use all the resources that are offered to you. Do not be afraid to ask questions. If you start strong you will finish strong.

    Bang for the buck

I see Millersville University as very helpful when it come to Financial Aid and scholarships. They provide you with all the resources you need to help you to not have to pay too much for school. The University also gives you a lot of money to attend if you have the grades.

    Am enjoying being here

Millersville University is a great place to be. There is always something to do one campus and there is an organization for everyone. On Saturdays there are movies nights and mid night breakfast. The organizations are always having workshops that are always fun and beneficial. Tutoring is available for anyone who needs it and the library is very helpful. It is over all a great place to be.

    Am learning a lot

Millersville Universities professor provide you with an the tools you need to succeed. The professors strive to build a relationship with you so that they get to learn the type of student that you are. Also because the classroom settings are small you get that chance to be seen as more than just another student. All of the text books are up to date and the resources are impeccable.

Great for these types of students

The school is excellent for any type of education major.

    Tips for prospective students

When applying to Millersville be sure to apply early and send in all of your paperwork as soon as possible. If considering coming to Millersville be aware that there is serious construction going on that will take 10 years to finish all of the plans. Also the library will be completely closed for next year; something I'm sure they haven't mentioned on tours.

    Bang for the buck

Overall the school gives you more than what you pay for. It's a state school so it's cheaper than that of private schools. It offers students a wide variety of educational opportunities that they may not have been aware of.

    Am enjoying being here

As a new freshman I've learned the importance of getting out of your shell and embracing the college experience. Millersville is great for finding finding clubs, organizations and sports that you're interested in. The campus is very welcoming and is always open to new members.

    Am learning a lot

At Millersville the classes are very interesting. Some of them maybe larger, mostly the lectures, however the professors are all very friendly and more than willing to work with you if you have any questions.

Great for these types of students

Looking to go to a great state school. If you're looking to be a teacher, Millersville is the best school in the state for teachers. It started off as a teacher school and eventually started offering other majors. It's great for other majors as well, I'm an art major and the teachers are very experienced in their fields. It's a smaller school so the campus isn't overwhelming. At Millersville, everything's one a more personal level. The teachers get to know you by name and the classes aren't huge, unless you're in a lecture, but even then it's not too huge.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to class, get to know your professors, don't be on their bad side, it'll make your life hell. If you have a question, ask! Most teachers email back right away! If you need help, go to their office hours. Get to know people in your class, it's a good way to make friends and when it comes to studying or being confused with an assignment, it'll save your life!

    Bang for the buck

Get involved. There's so many things to do on campus and there's plenty of clubs. The more you get involved with, the more people you'll get to know! Go to all your classes and your professors will help you out. I transferred in and got to know my art teachers (I'm an art major) and the head of the department helped me get my classes by doing overrides and saving spots in one of the classes that fills up fast. There's so many opportunities for every major.

    Am enjoying being here

There's so much to do. The Student Center is under construction so there isn't as much (from what i've heard). The Student Activities Board has movies every Saturday night and some fridays. There's parties on the quad in the fall and spring.

    Am learning a lot

All of my classes are different and interesting. They're not too tough that you feel overwhelmed but be sure to go to every class or you will start to feel behind. The teachers are great and you have a lot of chances to get help or ask questions. A lot of my teachers have made it a point to get their email out there and make sure students know their office hours.

Great for these types of students

It's wonderful for the types of students that are looking to save money but not loose quality. It has all dynamics, whether you want to spend your weekend in the Fraternity houses, or a quiet night in your room or library. The Professors are top notch. It is not for Students who desire a large city nearby.

    Tips for prospective students

Get an apartment as soon as possible. The off campus housing can be awesome, closely located, and affordable, and can cut your semester bill in half. It can save you a lot of money, and cut your costs drastically.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition is a wonderful cost, compared to the rest of the Universities in the area. It's the meal plans and housing costs that can really kill you. The meal plans are priced horribly, with only a 79$ difference between having 14 meals a week, and 19 meals a week. It makes saving on money hard to do. The differences between triple occupancy rooms and single occupancy rooms are not too big, so if you're looking for a single, you'll be getting a deal, but if you're looking for a triple, you might as well just pay a little bit more to get a double.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is wonderful, and there's many activities to do. The only downside is the lack of a large, prominent city. While Lancaster has some activities to participate in, it is not a city for everyone. I really enjoy the campus and the local surroundings, and the campus will provide Friday night entertainment, but it can lack on activities for a Saturday afternoon.

    Am learning a lot

The Professors here are some of the best I've seen. I transferred in from another school, and the Professors are of a different quality at Millersville than I experienced before. There is a partnership between Millersville and Franklin and Marshall College, so the diversity of the classes and professors are extensive. I have seen classes here on so many different subjects, and the University regularly holds conferences with speakers on all different subjects, including conferences for Students to display their research. The amount of knowledge that is shared at Millersville is extremely valuable.

Great for these types of students

    Pretty much everyone.

    Tips for prospective students

Millersville likes extracurricular activities on the application. Include everything you have ever done, and you might get a nice scholarship in the deal!

    Bang for the buck

One of the cheaper schools out there, Millersville provides a wealth of opportunities. Just watch out for the possible budget changes due to Corbett.

    Am enjoying being here

This is a great environment. The University Activities Board lines up some great activities and entertainment for the school year, including popular movies that haven't even been released on DVD yet or talented musical artists. Millersville is close to Lancaster City, so it's only a (FREE!) bus ride away to enjoy the wealth of entertainment available within the city limits. There are plenty of clubs for everyone, and most people here are very friendly and down-to-earth.

    Am learning a lot

Millersville has a solid mix of professors. Some are excellent, and one can learn quite a bit from them. Other professors seem like they're just teaching the same exact things you've learned in high school (though that might be a credit to my high school, and it is possible to avoid these professors). Just be sure to ask around about professors before enrolling in classes.

    Campus Safety

there are 'blue lights' located all around campus and if anyone ever feels threatened, they can simply press the blue light and will be connected with someone who will come and help if need be.

    Greek Life

greek life is fairly prevalent here at millersville. it is not a huge factor, but they are present.

    Clubs and Activities

there are numerous clubs and activities for everyone here. from clubs for those with differring sexual orientations to those who want to play a sport that is not offered.

Great for these types of students

millersville is great for students who want a smaller school and they want that sense of community you get from a small school. it is located in a rural area and it is very peaceful.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

the campus is located around a large pond. everyone goes to the pond to read, relax, or enjoy the birds that live in the pond. the most majestic of these birds are the swans that live there. their names are miller and s'ville. noone knows which swan is which so whichever swan is on the left is miller and the other is s'ville.

    Bang for the buck

millersville is in a good location. it is surrounded by fields so there is some scenery. however, it is located near a mall and there are free bus services that will transport you to the mall. also the bus will take you to lancaster where there are always things to do.

    What to do for fun

millersville has a few programs on the weekends. it's called ville after dark and they normally play videos and movies on the weekends in addition to playing games out on the quad. there have been several dances and there are a few parties and open mic nights. ville after dark will be hosting a laser tag party and mini golf this spring.

    Food and Dining

millersville's food may not be the best in the world, but it always hits the spot. when some food tastes delicious, other items may not be as scrumptious.

    Dorm Life

dorm life here is very fun. you feel like you are part of a large community and students feel at home. they will make the best of friends here and most of them are the people they live near. the dorms provide amusement on the weekends and other programs to bring people together.

    Academic Rigor

the programs here are very difficult, but not too hard for students to handle. students are challenged to think critically and outside of the box. there are very few professors who only wish for their students to fail.

    Tips for prospective students

students should really focus on their school work here. the partying might be fun, but it is always short lived and students are not paying thousands of dollars to go to school and party. students are paying for an education, so why waste it? it's not worth maybe losing your degree and reputation to get drunk for a night. i would also tell students to learn how to balance fun and studying. plus have fun in a positive way. not a destructive way that may hurt yourself or someone else.

    In three sentences

millersville university might be located in the most rural of settings, but there is a dedication there by the faculty and students that is visible by anyone who has happened by the campus. it is a truly spirited campus and anyone who comes here will feel welcome and it certainly is a learning environment where education comes first above all. on whatever scale i am rating millersville university on, i would put it at the top of the list because it promotes learning in a great environment.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for students who are focused and self-driven, and know exactly what they want to get from the University.

    Tips for prospective students

Advice for future students would be to make sure one remembers why they are in college. It's okay to go to a party or two, but do not get caught up in it because before one realizes it their grades will slip beyond the point of repair for the semester.

    Bang for the buck

I am having a lot of fun at Millersville University, but since I from New Jersey I am paying out of state tuition fee. In state would cost about 13,000 a year but out of state pays 23,000 a year. It is very expensive if one is not from Pennsylvania.

    Am enjoying being here

I greatly enjoy being at Millersville University. There are so many good people and fun events, activities, and groups available to be joined.

    Am learning a lot

I am a Chemistry major, and i must say that the Professors in this department know what they are doing and are very willing to help students to get a better understanding for the material.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for all students who wish to pursue a career in teaching. The education program is very strong here and you can feel a strong emphasis on academics.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you get off to a great start int eh first semester. It's very easy to get caught up in the college life but its also extremely hard to get your GPA up after a bad first semester.

    Bang for the buck

The cost of attending Millersville is very cheap compared to surrounding schools which is why I think this is such a great school they give you everything you need to have fun and succeed.

    Am enjoying being here

The school is awesome, the people are great, and the teachers know exactly what they are doing. Even though it seems like you're in the middle of nowhere you can always find something to do. The mall, the movie theater, the city of Lancaster, and the train station is just a bus drive away.

    Am learning a lot

The academics are great here. I learned so much in my first year and I'm pleased with my choice of Millersville. The classes aren't too big so one-on-one meetings with teachers are easy to do and they will certainly help with getting better grades.

Great for these types of students

Students going to school for any kind of teaching degree.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you research all of your possible school choices, but Millersville is a pretty good choice.

    Bang for the buck

The schooling has about and average tuition rate for in state students. It seems like it would be worth the money paid.

    Will enjoy being here

The campus is beautiful. It is under constriction so right now it's not as pretty as hoped, but it is still pretty much looking. Also the ducks there are like on steroids they are huge and friendly so watch out walking by the pond with foods! I would watch the dorms. Even though most dorms aren't very nice these are very institution rooms. Make sure to bring lots to decorate!

    Will learn a lot

From what I have heard the school offers and excellent education. This is an especially great school for anyone trying to get into the education field. With how teaching jobs are changing now this is a good school to head to!

    Campus Safety

There are blue posts around the school. They are call centers to the millersville police and they can be called at anytime. So if a student is walking late at night (for any reason) and they do not find it is safe they can page the police and an officer will walk them to their dorm or apartment.

    Greek Life

I'm not personally in any greek groups but my roommate is and I know some people that are. We do have those groups that are the stereotypical sorority/fraternity. They drink all day and night and haze the newbies. But there are also the groups that do not use degrading methods to initiate students. If you know what you are looking for I'm sure that you can find it in the greek life. Just make sure that you check out all of the groups and learn all that you can of each one so that you can find which is the perfect match.

Great for these types of students

Nearly everyone. The university is an adaptable school. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

    Bang for the buck

It depends on what you thing is bang for the buck. Personally I love the fact that my education is just as good as a private school but at the price of a states school. I love the newly renovated gym as well, it's free to all students and has so many options in it. I don't have to pay to go to the gym and it's open at great hours.

    What to do for fun

Millersville usually always has something to do. There is the gym and the classes that are given (yoga, zumba, bootcamps). There is also multiple dances groups. On weekends there is free movies (New and old). There is also a free bus (only for millersville students) that takes you into the city (Lancaster) and they also always have something going on, specially during the warmer months. There is also a bus that take you to park city mall and the stores/restaurants near there. There are benches and open grass around campus to sit/lay out on when it's warm. There is also a pond that students go to and feed the ducks. The art building is always open and has galleries set up 24/7 for students to enjoy. With so many groups and activities everyone can find something to do.

    Food and Dining

The Galley is the best place on campus to eat. It recently was redone and is now open from breakfast to dinner. Most students on campus would agree that it's the best. The Upper Deck is the main all you can eat cafe, if you're a picky eater it may be hard for you to find something to eat, even though there are a lot of options. There is always a cereal bar, salad bar, waffle maker, and bread toaster open. The grilles and other stations change depending on what meal it is. You have four meal time during the day and you are only allowed to use one meal during that time. This fact is sometimes annoying, but we are given a flex plan that allows us to use the money for anything at anytime.

    Dorm Life

It depends on which dorm you are in. Each dorm has its own personality and depending on what you are like, will help you determine which dorm is best for you. Freshman year I chose to be in a freshman only dorm and I found that it was a great decision. I was introduced to about 100 other students who where on the same step in college life as I was. It gave me the opportunity to make friends for all of my college life. No matter what dorm you are in you will always have those neighbors who are loud and disruptive. Some GA's and RA's are pretty strict. But overall dorm life is pretty good.

    Academic Rigor

It depends on the professor really. There are the basics that most professors follow, but each brings in their own personality and interpretation of the rules. Some professors seem harder while others more lenient. The basic rules of Millersville, when professors follow them to a T, hold you accountable to your own work. I think that they are fair, harder compared to highschool, but this is college now.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that you visit the school and check it out first. You don't know what the perfect school is until you actually see it, but it is smart to look up other students reviews and what they have to say about it. If you can, sit in on some classes that you may be interested in taking and meet professors.

    In three sentences

Not too far and not too close to the city and anything that may be needed. A variety of classes, people, and professors. Great grounds for sports or just enjoying nature.

    Bang for the buck

I mean, if the tuition keeps increases due to budget cuts, there really won't be a whole lot of bang for your buck.

    What to do for fun

Millersville isnt far from downtown Lancaster which offers a variety in art, shopping, and dining choices.

    Food and Dining

MU could have a few dining options from outside sources rather than just all dining halls. I know other universities have contracts with various chain restaurants giving the students some options throughout the school year.

    Dorm Life

I commute to Millersville University so I am not familiar with the dorm life.

    Academic Rigor

Classes usually have a moderate difficulty level. Some of the difficulty comes from the professors themselves rather than the content of the course. However, the professors that I have had at MU have always been willing and eager to help if you aren't understanding the material.

    Tips for prospective students

It is unfortunate that the campus currently does not have a library due to full renovations on the facility so it is the student's responsibility to find a productive study space. I would also recommend getting involved. I am about to study abroad through a MU program and it is the best decision I've made for my future. If you don't want to go abroad, then get involved in campus activities.

    In three sentences

Millersville University is a school where you are more than just another face in the class. Since the university is a smaller school, there are more opportunities to build your future. As a whole I would say Millersville University truly has the students' future in mind and is willing to provide the tools to succeed.

    Campus Safety

It is very rare you hear about anything negative happening on campus or even off. Our campus security are very fair and understanding, but they get the job done when things get serious. The administration posts bulletins and sends emails if anything serious occurs on campus immediately, and their are many safety posts all around campus just in case. If their is one thing I have never felt at Millersville, even at 3 am and that is fear for my own safty. Millersville is very safe and very secure as a University

    Greek Life

While I am not involved in Greek life I do know that we have many sororities and fraternities. I believe ASA and TKE are the biggest names on campus, but all the Greek institutions are like other clubs constantly working to better our school and better our community

    Clubs and Activities

This is where Millersville shines the most, our clubs are doing something everyday, and if you look hard enough you can always find something to do. Our sports teams and club sports are very well known, and we have recently been to NCAA final four in D2 soccer, our Rugby team has a winning tradition, and has recently won the Philly College cup, these of course are just a few small examples.

Great for these types of students

Millersville is great for any student. But really for a student who wants to learn a ton from a bunch of great teachers, and at the same time wanna have fun.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The Campus is next to Lancaster city which of course means you are near Amish country, but its very close to the local mall. Our school has a big name musical artist come to our campus every spring for a spring concert, and students normally get to go for free or a small fee.

    Bang for the buck

Millersville gives everything a student could ask for, great teachers, a beautiful campus, calm understanding administrators, a beautiful campus, and plenty to do in between classes. Do you get more bang for your buck? Of course, but you have got to go out and experience this bang in order for you to understand it.

    What to do for fun

Millersville is very well know for its sports teams and clubs. We have seemingly everything, baseball, football, soccer, volleyball, rugby, lacrosse. And if you are more interested in clubs we have tons of those as well. Not good enough to make a team? Thats fine we have intramural sport leagues that go on every year. Millersville is also up to its neck in Greek life.

    Food and Dining

The Upper Deck is really the main place to eat, the food is up and down, it all depends on the day. But for those who are picky eaters should not be worried they have a lot to choose from. The Anchor which is below is kind of like our schools own mini-seven eleven. You can buy any assortment of snacks, or actual foods here to bring back to your dorm rooms.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are ehh, if you are a freshmen or sophmore you might be required to live in them. Burrowes is a dump in all honesty, but it is close to campus which is nice. Bard is really nice, but far away from campus. My advice is after a year or two try to find an apartment or house off campus. Should not be hard, there are tons.

    Academic Rigor

The professors are very strict, you MUST attend class. We are one of the few colleges that requires attendance. Our professors are very educated and prove it in their lecture and classroom discussions, do not under estimate their exams.

    Tips for prospective students

Learn to get your work done early, the earlier you get your work done the more fun you can have with friends in the quad on a nice day or later on somewhere else during the weekend. Don't stress, relax you will be fine if you work hard. Don't underestimate any class, you'd be surprised what college tests and exams are like.

    In three sentences

Millersville is that school thats not too large but not too small, it really is the perfect size for any student. Most of the professors are highly educated and interested in only one thing, their students. The campus is beautiful and the students are hard working but fun.

For the most part I saftey doesn't seem to be an issue, but I would say our procedures could use a little more work.

    Greek Life

There are so many Greek groups on campus and it is a great experience to see the crossing-over of new members!

    Clubs and Activities

There are plenty of clubs to fit whatever your interest is : Animu club, Sola, BSU, Allies,UAB, as well as Student Senate. These are just some of the clubs that provide great activities for students to participate in allowing them to meet new people.

Great for these types of students

I would say it's all about where you best fit in. Millersville Campus is very diverse.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The Swans on campus are a big thing, just don't bother then, they aren't very friendly.

    Bang for the buck

Millersville is a state school so the price isn't too bad either compared to what the school offers.

    What to do for fun

There is the Park City Mall which is only a bus ride away! Students also love hanging out at the near by pizzeria called The Sugar Bowl. In Lancaster City there is always something fun you can find. I would recommend the Manor plaza, after enjoying some yofro you can enjoy a movie across the plaza!

    Food and Dining

There is nothing like a home cooked meal, but when you don't have that, this food does the job. The food is pretty good in the dining halls.

    Dorm Life

I would not say it is the best, but it isn't the worst. You can be sure that it is a safe environment, which can also make it a boring at times. Policies are enforced well.

    Academic Rigor

Definitely some challenging courses, I haven't been to an Ivy league before, but I sure do feel challenged like I'm in one. I love the challenge because it allows me to feel a sense of achievement!

    Tips for prospective students

Do your best to stay ahead, DO NOT procrastinate! If you ask your professors for help, most of the professors I have come across here are committed to helping students.

    In three sentences

Provides a challenge. Has a great community. I love the campus.

Try out the little restaurants around such as Jacks or the Sugarbowl, they are great!!

    Bang for the buck

You are getting a great education for very cheap compared to other colleges.

    What to do for fun

The Student Memorial Center has so many activities to offer on the weekends for fun. Every weekend there is a movie shown and there are always dances, or other events taking place!

    Food and Dining

Great desserts! The food on the other hand can be sort of hit or miss.

    Dorm Life

Make friends with your hall mates during your freshman and sophomore year because those will be the people you live with when you move off campus your junior and senior year.

    Academic Rigor

I have definitely been challenged in my classes. I highly recommend their business program.

    Tips for prospective students

Go on lots of tours and try to do an overnight stay to spend time with some current students to get a good feel of the campus.

    In three sentences

Millersville is a great school if you're the right person for it. When they say it is in the middle of no where, it is. Although, getting into the right crowd and joining lots of clubs will make for a great experience.

The the campus is very safe. You never really hear about anything happening to the students. The campus police and borough police are also in the area in case anything happens.

    Greek Life

Greek Life is small but mighty. While the administration may not be a fan of Greak Life, they are definitely a fan of themselves. Not all the students on campus understand or have misconceptions of Greek Life which is unfortunate but they are making a bigger name for themselves around campus.

    Clubs and Activities

Anything that you could possibly want a club of, there is. And if there is not then you can start your own club. There are so many options that there is something for everyone.

Great for these types of students

If are looking to get involved and but now sure what with, Organizational Outbreak is the place for you. It is a large gathering of many, many organizations on campus where a student can see what they are all about and ask the members questions.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are various pizza places within walking distance of campus. One popular place is Ho-Pi where you can find many Millersville students on any given Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night.

    Bang for the buck

For the in-state student Millersville is a reasonable price. For an out-of-state student I think that it is a little expensive, especially in it's current state. Currently at Millersville, the library is under construction and with budget cuts it has made registration difficult. Hopefully, when the library is done it will make the money a little bit more worth while.

    What to do for fun

While Millersville is a little bit more in the country, Lancaster City is near by which has various events that are appealing to college students.

    Food and Dining

The food at Millersville is decent. There are many options based on what you feel like you want to eat. There are two dining halls that are buffet style where it is all you can eat and then there are two dinning facilities that are more grab and go. Both of which offer a variety of food to suit whatever mood you are in.

    Dorm Life

Living in the dorms at Millersville is a great way to make new friends and meet new people. It allows you to get to know the people who live around you and on your floor. I know for me it also allowed me to meet people whole were in my classes; it worked out that most of the people in my hall/floor had the same major as I did, so we were able to go to class together.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on what you are studying depends on the classes that you are required to take. While some majors are more academically demanding than others each major is challenging in it's own way.

    Tips for prospective students

My biggest advice for some for a prospective student at Millersville or any other college is to get involved. Getting involved in various campus activities allows the student to meet new people, develop social skills and friends, and also is a great resume booster.

    In three sentences

Millersville University is a beautiful college that really allows it's students to excel. While the courses are challenging, the professors are willing to work with students both in and outside of class so that they can succeed.

    What to do for fun

There is a bus that takes you to the mall. In Manor shopping center (not too far from campus), there is the movie theater, Chinese food, frozen yogurt, and other stores you will want to check out. The campus always has tons of events that you can go to, like movie nights, poetry readings, talent shows, and presentations by some pretty important people.

    Food and Dining

I am a vegetarian, so sometimes it is hard to find vegetarian alternatives. My advice to you is make sure that you call dining services to ask for certain foods to be held for you behind the counters, like gluten-free foods or Silk yogurts, etc. If you ask for something, most likely you will get it. Take advantage of the comment box. Your chicken was too rubbery, tell them. You loved the peanut butter pie, tell them. Dining Services loves to hear from you on what was great and what can be improved. Make time to go to the dining halls. While the Anchor and the Cove are great for convenience store options like getting boxes of cereal and the like, go to the dining halls. It is an all-you-can-eat buffet, so you get more for your money. The dining hall hours sucked this year, so hopefully they will have fixed that for the fall!

    Dorm Life

Go to the programs your RA hosts. Not only will they be fun (like movie nights, glow in the dark frisbee, etc), they will also allow you to meet new people, help out others (bake sales where proceeds go to the ASPCA, for example), learn new things about yourself and about others, and you can learn new skills that you could apply to your life in the future (how to prepare and take the Praxis, for example.)

    Academic Rigor

All of my professors were pretty tough. Do the readings, because not only will you most likely be quizzed/tested/questioned about it, but it can help you better understand the material that you are learning about. Go to classes prepared, so that you don't feel confused about what the professor and other students are talking about. Plus, you can give your two-sense during discussions or be able to ask a question about something that might be confusing a lot of people from the readings or homework assignments.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved -- get an on campus job, join a club or organization Live in the residence halls -- living in the residence halls allows you to get to know so many people and to go to fun activities hosted by the RAs Study first, play later -- a lot of the professors are really tough, so you want to make sure you get all of your work done first so that you can get the good grades you deserve!

    In three sentences

Millersville University was a great school to attend. The classes are taught by the professors, not graduate students. The professors are interested in getting to know you as a student and are always there to help you understand a topic. The campus is beautiful, and there are so many clubs and organizations you can get involved in to meet new people.

They have blue phones all over campus. Press the emergency button and an alarm goes off and lights flash. If you are walking back to your dorm and it's dark, call campus police and they will escort you back safe and sound.

    Greek Life

Fraternities and sororities are here but don't get houses because they are not condoned by the school. They are allowed to exist just not have a house.

    Clubs and Activities

There are clubs here from bowling to dancing to robotics! It's amazing! I'm part of a few including Robotics and TECCA.

Great for these types of students

Here we go...another cliche answer but it's true!! Anybody!!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

They usually do a parade type thing called a walk a mile in her shoes. It's to end domestic violence. The young men at the school who participate wear high heals and of course what ever other female attire that they want and then walk a mile in those high heals. Funny, educational, and has an impact.

    Bang for the buck

I'm out of state so I need to pay a bit more, but I think it's worth it! I love it out there! The teachers seem to really want to be there and help in any way that they can. The students are very friendly (for the most part...hey, every school has it's bad eggs) and the buildings are nice and kept up to date.

    What to do for fun

Two words...Line Dancing! Go to a place called The Barn on Tuesday nights. It's 5 bucks and you dance your heart out! I love it!! There is a movie theater down the road as well and I like to take a drive in the country every once in a while. Hockey tournaments set up by students go on as well. The guys are great and all are welcome!

    Food and Dining

Okay, food talk. The food is actually pretty good although it doesn't fill you up completely. I usually eat about 3 or 4 plates full and I'm a pretty small person.

    Dorm Life

It's nice to have a space of your own (without your parents that is). It's a bit small and you have to share but all in all, it's a good experience. The accommodations at Millersville are pretty good.

    Academic Rigor

You're going to need to work a bit but hey, who said it was going to be easy? If life was too easy and we all got everything we wanted, life would be boring and have no purpose. We would take everything for granted and become even more of a greedy society.

    Tips for prospective students

This is very cliche but so true. Do your best. Use office hours to your benefit. The professors are not there to fail you, they are there to help you but you need to take the initiative. Teachers respect that.

    In three sentences

This is a great school to go to. The people are diverse and everyone can find something for them. I should know, I didn't think I was going to fit in but I found my group and I am so very happy!

Friday and Saturday nights free movies are shown. There are also semester concerts. You can hang out by the pond or on the quad. Take the free bus to the mall or movie theater. On the first Friday of every month, you can go to the arts celebration downtown.

    Food and Dining

There are increasingly more dining options, but the quality of the food is not the greatest. The food is not as healthy as it should be.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are average. The showers are the worst part. Buy shower shoes!

    Academic Rigor

Academic rigor greatly depends on the individual classes and the professors. Some classes are very challenging and time consuming while others are not.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should try to live in the renovated dorms. They also should consider downsizing their meal plans, since the food is not the greatest and many meals go to waste. Academically students should get involved right away and get to know their professors. Professors are very helpful and will go out of their way for you if they know you as an involved student. People are friendly so joining clubs and organizations are a great way to meet other like-minded students.

    In three sentences

Millersville University is a small town campus setting with a beautiful campus that is a great feature of the university . The academic programs are headed by wonderful and challenging faculty members. The downside to Millersville University is on campus living and dining.

Great for these types of students

Millersville isn't a very large school. It is perfect for students who don't want to merely blend in. The size allows for close relationships with professors, and it allows for more personal involvement in activities, research, etc.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The duck pond is a notable place on Millersville campus. It is home to the Millersville swans, Miller and Seville. It is a beautiful peaceful location, perfect for studying or taking pictures or hanging out with friends.

    What to do for fun

Millersville offers many trips (which are free for students) to a variety of places, such as New York and Baltimore, not to mention consistent transportation into historic Lancaster City, full of restaurants, bars, cafe's and shops. On campus, Millersville offers state-of-the-art fitness facilities, as well as ropes courses and disk golf courses. With the numerous clubs on campus, there is something to match the interest of every student here at Millersville.

    Tips for prospective students

Really get to know your professors. The professors at Millersville can offer you such a wide range of opportunities for you while you're attending and after graduation, and these opportunities should be taken advantage of. Millersville, as a University, has more to offer than people realize, and you only have four years to get as many new experiences and perspectives as you can.

Millersville University is more than an average state school. It is continually modernizing in appearance, technology, and education, while still maintaining it's historical value and prestige. It's a very quiet and safe area. I've never had a problem walking around campus in the evening, alone. Although, it's still important to use common sense like taking a buddy when you go out, letting someone know where you are and locking your doors at night.

    Greek Life

I am personally not a greek, but several of my friends are in sororities and LOVE it.

    Clubs and Activities

Plenty of ways to get involved. Although, you may have to dig around a bit before finding a club that is the perfect fit for you.

Great for these types of students

Prospective science majors (especially meteorology), and future teachers (especially elementary education).

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Swans and ducks rule the school outside of Wickersham Hall. There is a BEAUTIFUL pond on the north side of campus where you can hang out with the swans named Miller and S'Ville. Perfect place to hang outside in between classes.

    Bang for the buck

Financially, I'm really happy that I went to this school. You will save ALOT by attending Millersville. Yes, there will always be tuition hikes, but you will have those wherever you go. Compare Millersville tuition to any one of the local private colleges and I guarantee you will give this school a second look.

    Food and Dining

The meal plans are pretty good here and if you aren't a fan of the dining halls, there are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby to suit your tastes. The only problem I have with the meal plans is that they're restrictive about when you can or can't use meal credits.

    Dorm Life

Depends on the dorm. They tend to be noisier beyond a reasonable level and some of the halls are in need of serious renovation. Best dorms? Harbold or Lenhardt halls. Worst? Burrowes hall.

    Academic Rigor

This will depend on your program. Overall, the curriculum is challenging. However, because of increasing class sizes, the assignments tend to be based more on multiple choice exams and attendance rather than essays and projects.

    Tips for prospective students

It really isn't that difficult to get accepted. Just make sure you have a decent GPA (the average student has about a 3.0 in high school) and don't blow off the SATs (they usually like a score in the 1200 combined range).

    In three sentences

Millersville is a mid sized state university with a great academic reputation. It's also a campus where it's not too big but not too small and where the professors really do care about your academic success.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety is pretty good. We have emergency poles all around campus and the cops are always on patrol at all hours. As far as I know, nothing horrible has every happened on our campus.

    Bang for the buck

Though I love being a student at Millersville, there are issues when it comes to the money. Tuition is high, though they can't help it. I do think their books are over priced, and the school store is a rip off usually.

    What to do for fun

I'm definitely not a party person, so I can't help those who want to know where to go for parties. I just have fun hanging out with my friends on campus. There's movie nights every weekend in the SMC, they try to hold events every so often, and there's free busing to and from the mall.

    Food and Dining

The dining area is always good, but you have to watch out what time you go to the Upperdeck, it can get horribly crowded there. I enjoy eating at the Northside because it has a homey feeling to it, sadly they aren't open weekends. Food is always good, but sometimes can get repetitious.

    Dorm Life

This depends upon what dorm you end up in. Gaige Hall was great in my opinion, and Gilbert was awesome. Diehm not so much, but again that's my opinion. Everyone I know has always like Lenhardt and Hobbs and disliked Burrowes.

    Academic Rigor

I think this question depends on your major, the reason being, if you love your major, no matter the difficulty, you'll put the work into it. Not all classes are going to be rigorous, but there is always a few. Like I said though, if you love it, you put the effort into it, and come out on top.

    Tips for prospective students

Get yourself out there! Everyone is friendly and there to help you. No one wants to see you fail, so make sure you try your hardest.

    In three sentences

Millersville is a great college with a home-like atmosphere. It might not be as well known as known as Penn State or the like, but it's just as great or even better. It's a great education, amazing professors, and a place I'll surely miss after graduation.

There are plenty of clubs and activities that you can join, from intramural sports teams and tournaments, to greek life and all sorts of other clubs that fit your desires!

    What to do for fun

There are many parties on the weekends that you can go to, there's a movie theater and a huge mall and each has a bus that can take you there that runs frequently on campus.

    Food and Dining

The food is good, but its nothing like your mom's home-cooked meal. The dining areas are nice, but sometimes they get filled up quickly if you go at certains times and you have to wait/search for a table.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is nice! Spacious living space and rec rooms and laundry rooms in each one!

On a scale of one to ten if I had to rate Millersville University's food it would be a twelve. The food here is phenomenal. They have so many places to eat around here it's ridiculous! Most of the time it's buffet style so you can eat as much as you want! It's a pretty sweet deal so I would recommend to get the most out of your meals.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life here is great. The RA's here are very nice and they basically give you the load down on what to do and what not to do. Everyone is very easy to get along with and you meet many new friends by dorming. The dorms here for the most part are pretty legit, i mean dorms will be dorms so you just have to make the best of it!

    Academic Rigor

The academic standard here at Millersville University is held to the highest. With loving and caring professors, it is very hard not to do well as long as you seek help when needed. These professors here are always there to help you and many students are provided tutors if they need one. Millersville University cares about there students and they want you to succeed in life and provide you with opportunity.

    Tips for prospective students

My tip for a prospective student would be that if you want to make knew friends and attend a safe, warming university, then Millersville University is the place for you. This campus is also very scenic and has the best Intramural and Club sports in the nation! If you love sports but do not want to play at the collegiate level, then attend Millersville for some competitive sports.

    In three sentences

Millersville University has such a beautiful campus and a great atmosphere for new incoming and transfer students. I transferred here from Penn State University and I am so happy I made my decision to attend this university. With a great student body and awesome Professors that will help you whenever you need it, this is a university I would recommend to anyone who wants a great college experience,

    Campus Safety

This campus feels really safe, it's a small rural part of town. The only danger is cars at night.

    Clubs and Activities

There are over 150 clubs on campus. The school utilizes a website called involved@millersville that lists all the club descriptions and gives a forum where all the clubs can communicate. They post events on this website as well.

Great for these types of students

This is a great school for students who do not have a lot of money, close-by so they can commute and are willing to work their butt off. They classes are not that difficult, we have all the resources to succeed.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every spring, we have a huge fair-type thing called Superfest. It's really awesome and fun. They usually have things like laser tag, sumo wrestling, movies, prizes etc.

    Bang for the buck

Millersville is a very affordable school, especially if you can commute. The staff in the career center is very helpful. They do everything they can to help you succeed, but it is up to you to actually ask them.

    What to do for fun

A lot of the organizations on campus plan events for students. So just stay tuned for the events going on. The bus system on campus is okay. They can take you to the mall for free.

    Food and Dining

Food prices are constantly increasing and the hours for the dining halls are terrible. When you actually get in, it is overcrowded.

    Dorm Life

I did not live on campus, but I hear a lot of people complain about the dorms. I hear that they are building new suite style dorms, but they will not be completed until 2015.

    Academic Rigor

I would say from personal experience that a lot of the lower level courses (100's and 200's) are not that difficult at all. But I did see many people struggle through these courses. It's not really until your junior and senior year where the demand and expectations really rise.

    Tips for prospective students

Tips for prospective students: Don't slack off your freshmen and sophomore year. That is how you fall behind. Classes only get more difficult from there, so get a head start on a high GPA. And you really need to learn how to study. That is very important, or you will be just wasting your time.

    In three sentences

Millersville University is a small school that makes the interactions with professors and other students very close. It's great when you know most of the students and faculty by name. The faculty in the science departments are really intelligent and willing to work with you if you are having problems.

    Bang for the buck

You definitely get your bang for the buck when attending Millersville. Attending this school has to be about one of the best financial decisions someone can make.

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of things to do around campus. With buses that take you back and forth to campus, they stop at different locations leaving you never bored.

    Food and Dining

The Anchor/ Upper Deck, which is located near most of the dorms is very convenient. Especially for those who like to eat at later times. The food quality is one of the best in Pennsylvania.

    Dorm Life

Although the dorms are currently about to be reconstructed, the dorms they have now are very convenient. Mainly all of them are located in the same vicinity area and they're fairly close to the multiple dining halls.

    Academic Rigor

Some classes may seem a little more challenging then others, but If that is the case you can always get a mentor. The mentors are so helpful and you actually begin to establish a more personal friendly relationship with your mentor too.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are possibly looking at attending Millersville, I would definitely suggest visiting the campus. The campus is beautiful and it's not too big or too small of a campus; making the transition from class to class very easy.

    In three sentences

Millersville was the only school that I could honestly see myself walking around on campus. They students and staff are very welcoming and made me feel like Millersville University was truly my second. I am so grateful that I was accepted into such a fine institution.

Campus police are always roaming, especially on the weekends. Card swipes are at every entrance to dorms.

    Greek Life

I'm not involved with Greek Life.

    Clubs and Activities

Seek and you shall find. Look for posters and flyers around campus. Organizations are always informing students about meetings and events. Also search in the different departments for departmental sponsored clubs.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Two resident swans. Names are Miller and S'Ville.

    Bang for the buck

    Low tuition, High quality education.

    Food and Dining

Not too bad. Good variety but needs more fruit and vegetable options. I typically find meat, carbohydrates, and potatoes everywhere I go. I love the omlette bar in Upper Deck and my favorite place is the Juice Bar, where you can get protein shakes and smoothies.

    Dorm Life

Freshmen usually are grouped together by major in all-freshmen dorms. They aren't too bad. Daily cleaning of hallways and bathrooms. Fun decor the RAs hang up. In the rooms, you get the basics: bed with mattress, desk, chair, dresser, and closet. I suggest bringing a small lamp, because the overhead light in the rooms is overpowering most of the time.

    Academic Rigor

Depends on the major but you will be challenged in every class. Make sure to take advantage of talking with professors and finding tutors.

    Tips for prospective students

Take advantage of the fitness center. It is an updated facility with a variety of classes and flexible hours and activities. I'm usually there at least three times a week, sometimes more if I am bored.

    What to do for fun

There are movies held on the quad every month. There is also a spring concert where the university gets a big name to come and perform on campus for a price that even poor students can afford! There is also Superfest in the spring. This is similar to a carnival that is held in the quad. The student body can come and enjoy a DJ, carnival games and of course free food and goodies. In addition, the many different clubs and organizations on campus sponsor a wide variety of events that are open to the general student body.

    Food and Dining

This is in the same league as the dorms. Avoid the cafeterias if at all possible! They will give you either diarrhea or constipation!

    Dorm Life

The dorms... I honestly don't even know how to make them not sound awful. All I can say is move off campus as soon as possible!

    Academic Rigor

The classes are pretty straightforward and easy. Just be sure that you actually go to them and you should be able to get at least a C with little studying.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure that you will not be too impacted if you are not able to graduate in four years. Also make sure to look at joining a club, social or academic. It is a great way to make friends with similar interests and to be able to be apart of the campus community.

    In three sentences

Millersville is a great university that offers its students many fantastic opportunities. However, it is very difficult to get into classes and therefore it is very difficult to graduate within four years.

The campus is very safe. There are hardly ever reports of theft, and never reports of violence. The campus police are scattered around campus, and Millersville has been named a safe campus for years now.

    What to do for fun

The halls usually host a whole bunch of events for the residents. And there are plently of places to hang out with friends.

    Food and Dining

The food's okay, but it's not that great. It's also annoying that it's 15 minutes away from my dorm...

    Dorm Life

As long as you talk to the people in your hall, it's always a lot of fun. And the RA's are always hosting stuff to do to make it more interesting.

    Academic Rigor

Classes aren't hard as long as you study.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you do work on time so you can hang out with people when you want. Be aware that it's pretty boring if you don't get out of your dorm and go hang out with people.

    In three sentences

Millersville is a lot of fun, but you need to go and look for it. There are always things to do, and there are many opportunities to meet new people and make friends. The people here are friendly and great to be with.

    Campus Safety

There is a whole police station on campus and there are cameras in many of the parking lots. Most areas are well-lit, and there are call boxes throughout campus where you can call a member of campus security to walk you to your destination if you feel unsafe.

    Greek Life

There are frats and sororities, although they don't have their own houses. I don't really know anything about them.

    Clubs and Activities

There are many clubs and intramural sports to get involved in, whatever your interests may be.

Great for these types of students

Millersville is a great place for Education and Biology majors because these majors are so popular and the departments are large. Students can ride the bus into Lancaster City or to Park City Mall for free.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is a statue outside the SMC of a marauder, which supposedly gives you good luck if you put a penny on it. (The money placed on the statue goes to a scholarship association to help students.) The pond is also pretty cool.

    Bang for the buck

For a Biology major, at least, there are many opportunities to get to know professors and join academic clubs, which help students gain department scholarships and student research opportunities. The financial aid department is very helpful in getting scholarships.

    What to do for fun

I don't live there, so I'm not usually there in the evenings, but I know there are many academic clubs and church groups to get involved in, as well as varsity and intramural sports.

    Food and Dining

Again, I don't live on campus, so I don't eat much of their food. What I have had is good, and there are a variety of places to eat, both on campus and within walking distance. On campus there are 2 all-you-can-eat dining halls and 2 pay-per-item dining halls. All of the dorms are close to at least one dining hall.

    Dorm Life

I am a commuter, so I have no personal experience with the dorms. There are several options of traditional dorm rooms and campus-affiliated apartments, as well as many privately-rented apartments in the vicinity. The school plans on renovating many of the dorms in the near future.

    Academic Rigor

As with most colleges, the amount of learning you do is related to how much effort you put into your classes. Especially for more popular majors, expect large lecture hall classes for freshman, and then smaller, progressively harder classes that weed out anyone who isn't serious about their major.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't ever buy new textbooks from the student store. MyVille has a classified section where you can buy books from students who have had the class in the past, and Amazon is another great option for getting used textbooks and saving money. Also, ask the professor or previous students how much you will be using the textbook. Sometimes it is just supplementary material and you are never tested on it, other times you use it ever day.

    In three sentences

Parking is a huge hassle for commuters, university police are very strict and unhelpful on parking issues. Education and Biology are their 2 biggest majors, most other departments are very small. Financial aid office very helpful, lots of scholarships, some of which you are automatically applied for when you commit to going there.

    Food and Dining

2.5 stars. Dining hall is average quality, good number of choices. No good pizza places on campus except nikos, but they don't deliver. Three other places do but their pizza is no good.

    Dorm Life

2.5 stars. Nothing to write home about but you also won't be living in squalor.

    Academic Rigor

Read the materials you are given and you'll be fine.

    Tips for prospective students

Felt about average. Generally nice faculty. Dispute your grades when you feel there is an issue, don't just let it go. They have been doing a lot of campus renovation so it's getting pretty up to date. Warning:I feel no pride for having gone here. I should have challenged myself elsewhere even if it meant student debt.

    Greek Life

There are many options for Greek life for those that are interested. Rush is currently in progress and lots of my friends that aren't already members are joining. I believe Millersville's Greek life allows a great opportunity to make new friends and provide for the community and learn important skills that can be useful in life.

    Clubs and Activities

Many clubs are offered here at Millersville. I'm currently a tennis player for the DII team however tennis is also a club activity. Many of all the main sports and also things such as ping pong or badminton or book or chess club.

    What to do for fun

For fun here at Millersville there is so much one can indulge in. From First friday in lancaster to band venues in basements or cafes, the fun is around everywhere everyday.

    Food and Dining

The food provided isnt anything to complain about. They offer a wide variety of meals throughout the week but also provide a salad, pasta, and ice cream bar.

    Dorm Life

Dorm conditions vary however for the most part they are very much so livable. The janitors are great at their jobs and keep the bathrooms as clean as possible. The staff on hand in the dorms keeps the noise and commotion at a reasonable rate according to the time and day.

    Academic Rigor

Although some of the classes are a breeze Millersville offers a far range of rather difficult classes. I took one the hardest/ most demanding classes here at Millersville and trust me it wasn't a walk in the park. The work load was strenuous but manageable thanks to a great staff of professors.

    Tips for prospective students

Embrase the fact that you are making a life time investment that is well worth it. Not only should you study and work hard to be able to catch a desirable job but enjoy the social life as much as possible because social skills are needed everywhere you dont think of.

    Food and Dining

    I wouldn't know, I'm a commuter. I never got a meal plan.

    Dorm Life

    I wouldn't know, I'm a commuter.

    Academic Rigor

The more you work and study the more it feels like a normal part of your life. Once it becomes routine it becomes easy. Remember you're paying a lot of money to learn. Don't sell yourself short.

    Tips for prospective students

You only get as much out of school as you put into it. Make sure to spend a lot of time studying. Try studying in groups to share the burden and ease the pain. Although grades are important, make sure to actually learn. The more you retain from one semester the easier the following semester will be (e.g. Chem I - Chem II, Calc I - Calc II).

They decorate the halls and each plan 14 fun programs a year within the hall. MU is building all new dorms within the next 7 years!

Pathways are well lit, there are usually a few police cars patrolling the campus every night. There are safety buttons placed all around campus where if there is an emergency, you can easily access the police department and they will know where you are. If you don't want to walk around campus alone at night you can call for a police officer to drive you.

    Greek Life

There are a wide variety of Greek organizations. Some are gender specific, some are co-ed, some are race specific. There is something for everyone. There are also no Greek houses on campus, so if you decide to go Greek you will not be required to live in a frat or sorority house.

    Clubs and Activities

There is a wide variety of clubs around the campus. There are school sponsored sports as well as club sports, free work out classes to take at the gym, art clubs, music clubs, and pretty much anything else you can think of.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is one building called Biemesderfer, which is an executive building. It is the most beautiful building on campus because of all the stained glass and elaborate structure. It was so perfect when it was built, that a worker said that Only God can build something so perfect. So, since the building was too perfect, one rung along the stairs was switched upside down. It is the only imperfection about the building.

    Bang for the buck

From what I've been told, Millersville University is the highest rated public school in PA. It is also one of the highest rated pubic teaching colleges in the country. For a public school, I think the education here is better than in some private schools.

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of free activities that go on every weekend; they show movies that have not been released on DVD yet. There is also Lancaster City which has a lot of unique shops and Park City Mall which is humongous.

    Food and Dining

It depends on where you go to eat. There are 2 buffet style places which don't serve the healthiest or tastiest foods, but sometimes they serve something good. And then there are 2 market type places which have better quality food.

    Dorm Life

People are very friendly around here, I can walk around campus and say hi to many people passing by. The dorms are decent, some of them are very old and falling apart and others are almost luxury. There are plans to knock down the older dorms and build newer ones that will begin after the Fall 2013 semester.

    Academic Rigor

It depends on the classes that you take. Some professors are very challenging and it's worthwhile to take their course. Other professors can be a joke and you can receive an easy A.

    Campus Safety

There are only 3 incidences that occurred the whole year while I was attending. It was nothing serious. If you ever feel unsafe there are emergency posts where you can press the button and an escort will arrive to take you where you need to be.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a ton of clubs. There should be at least one club for everyone's interest and liking. Clubs do a lot of volunteering, field trips, and campus involvement.

Great for these types of students

MU is great for education students.

    Bang for the buck

It's like any other college you pay for what you get. The books in the store are pricey, but that is nothing out of the ordinary.

    What to do for fun

There are many clubs on campus where everyone will be interested in at least one. The clubs go on volunteer and field trips. There is also always something going on on campus, whether it be a presentation or a new movie. There is also Ville after dark which is during the weekend. It starts with an activity like a dance or laser tag. The next day is usually the latest movie released on dvd. There is also getaway weekend where there are lots of activities to get involved in.

    Food and Dining

The food is great but sometimes it gets boring after awhile. They have like 5 different food places to eat at. Whether you want a quick on the go meal or want to pig out at the upper deck buffet. The food is always fresh and warm!

    Dorm Life

I loved living in the dorms. The bathrooms could have been cleaner, but that was because of the residents, not the janitors. The residents are friendly and it's never too loud. Everyone respects each other.

    Academic Rigor

The courses are challenging. When you start taking higher level courses that's when you really need to be serious about school. The professors teach it in a way, that if you are serious and paying attention, that you will get it.

    Tips for prospective students

There is a lot of walking, but there is also the MU Express that runs and can take u to your classes. The food is good, you just have to switch around your destinations to eat every few days. The advisers will help you get the classes you need and make sure you are taking the right ones.

    In three sentences

It is a very settle, safe, and beautiful campus. The professors are some of the best professors that I ever had for my courses. The only downside is for freshmen who live in Gaige because it is a loooooong walk to the science buildings.

I usually feel safe on campus, and there are police cars patrolling at almost any time of day.

    Greek Life

Present and involved, but no houses.

    Clubs and Activities

There's a million of them, so everyone can find SOMETHING.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

If you go a year without a late night call to the Sugar Bowl or a drunk wandering to House of Pizza, you're doing it wrong. Helpful hint: Sugar Bowl delivers to anywhere on campus.

    Bang for the buck

Great education for what you pay, especially for education majors. If you do what they tell you and push yourself, you'll be ready when you leave.

    What to do for fun

The city of Lancaster is a wonderful place to explore. Lancaster county is a lot more than the Amish. There's a bus that goes from campus right into the heart of downtown.

    Food and Dining

No one would blame you for going to the Galley for every meal, but the other places on campus really aren't that bad.

    Dorm Life

It's getting better. Big plans are in the works to improve on-campus living at MU in the next few years.

    Academic Rigor

Some teachers demand more than others. You want those teachers.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't expect your adviser, teachers, or upperclassmen to tell you everything you need to do to graduate on time. Do you own research and ask a lot of questions.

    In three sentences

A great school that's not too big and not too small with a gorgeous campus. Some sketchy administration but amazing teachers. Glad I came here.

Movie nights and breakfast at midnight are offered on Fridays. Lots of other fun activities are hosted by Millersvilke all days of the week, there is always something going on.

    Food and Dining

Food is not that great, there is a wide selection of food but the selection rarely changes, so you get sick of the food offered quickly. During 12 and 5pm is the busiest and you will find yourself waiting in a long line.

    Dorm Life

Standard size dorms, separated by wings and floors. The worst part is sharing a bathroom with 30 girls, it gets messy and you have to figure out a schedule for shower times. RA's are nice as long as you respect them. I always felt safe inside my dorm.

    Academic Rigor

You must manage your time well in order to get good grades and have time to take advantage of the many opportunities that are offered on and off campus. Professors will push you hard because they want you to succeed. If you want to be a respected student you better work your hardest and not waste the professors times. In the end you will be rewarded.

    Tips for prospective students

Spend lots of time in the new library and smc and you will be successful and meet lots of new people. Take advantage of the free transit to park city and Lancaster city and enjoy the area. Participate in everything you can, you never know who you will meet.

    In three sentences

Millersville is a middle sized campus with friendly faces and beautiful buildings and landscaping all around. It is a safe and quiet campus right outside the city of Lancaster, where there is always something to do. You will meet many people and build many professional relationships with peers and professors as long as you seize the opportunities.

I always see MUPD cars patrolling campus. The officers have a great relationship with the students, they're not just there to bust you! There are also blue poles around campus for you to call for help if you are in an emergency.

    What to do for fun

Ville After Dark offers a variety of programs like midnight movie showings on weekends. During warmer weather there's events going on in the quad. Park City Mall is a 20min bus ride away!

    Food and Dining

Food isn't bad, but it's not home. There are enough places that offer buffet style or grab and go. You have to watch the prices for the grab and go so you don't go over your meal. I know the university is striving to make healthier options available and lower the prices!

    Dorm Life

I love dorm life in that you are close to everything and you're surrounded by people. The buildings could use an update, but they are in the process of building new ones now! If you have the choice, I would recommend going into a smaller dorm building. It gives you the chance to meet more people!

    Academic Rigor

Gen ed classes are generally easy, understandable, but require a lot of work. The courses for your major are rigorous in both work, class time, and field experience.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you make the most of Orientation Week! That's the best place to make friends to help you feel comfortable in a strange place. Two years later my friends still get together with their orientation groups, so that's the first step to making you feel more comfortable. Friends in the beginning of this journey will help you through anything!

    In three sentences

    What to do for fun

On weekends and sometimes during the week there are usually a movie playing in the middle of campus, called the Quad, but occasionally there are other things going on like a carnival in the gym or a skating ring in one of the parking lots. There are also things to do in the city of Lancaster that are fun. There is First Friday, and there is a mall and some outlets that are just a bus ride away. Not to mention the clubs and sports teams have meetings and games and such. The event coordinators always try to have something going on.

    Food and Dining

On campus there is an array of dinning halls scattered throughout campus. There are the buffet style, the grab and go style, the school cafeteria feel, and the fancy restaurant style of dining. The meal plan usually covers everything, but if you find it that you don't want school food there are always other places to eat that are considered off campus but are actually on campus. The food here is pretty good but once in a while you get homesick and want grandma's cooking.

    Dorm Life

The rooms might seem a bit small at first but they are actually quite spacious. Privacy varies depending on your room mate although most times that can be worked out. The dorms have RA's that host plenty of events within the dorm to meet others. There are rules that are enforced strictly but that doesn't stop anyone from having a good time. The bathroom is a shared almost public place, beware! In movies they make dorm life to be an extremely fun experience or a really creepy, scary one. The truth of the matter is the movies lie. Being in a dorm is a great way to make friends and meet new people.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging enough to grab your attention but easy enough to understand the basic concepts. Some are intense and fast paced while others are hands on and slow going. If you don't understand don't be afraid to ask for help.

    Tips for prospective students

A great way to make friends and to get to know campus is to sit in on club meetings and to go to campus events. Don't be afraid to ask for help!

    In three sentences

The campus a fair size with a great rural feel to it. The teachers are helpful and kind. The other students, organizations, and activities are a great way to keep busy during the times you aren't studying or in classes.

Professors are a big help, you can always attend their office hours and their always here to help you whenever you are falling back. There are many resources around the school that will help you with any subjects that you are struggling in.

    Tips for prospective students

Some tips for prospective students is always stay on top of your game. Never wait till the last minute to do homework or any type of assignments that the professor has given to you. But not only that, choose your friends wisely, realize that not everyone is going to be your friend. It's not high school anymore, take care of your responsibilities and get into organization that will keep you going and learn how to network. College is fun, but at some point you have to know your values and understand the things that you have to give up in order to be successful.

    Campus Safety

Millersville has what is called MU Alert which is a system run by the campus police department which sends out warning texts to your phone and warning messages to your email detailing events that have taken place recently on campus and severe weather details. The great thing about this system is it also warns you about events that have been reported in the local community so that you can be made aware of any potential incidents. It should be noted that incidents that involve danger to students are so rarely reported I have only heard of one since I have been going there and that was at an off-campus party.

    What to do for fun

Millersville has many choices of intramurals and on-campus clubs and activities. If you can't find something you would really like, you probably haven't actually looked because they provide a little something for everyone. Millersville is also close to theaters and there are several parks and trails within a short drive of campus.

    Food and Dining

Millersville is wonderful because students are a walking distance from other businesses so they are not limited to just University Dining. There are several pizza shops and a Subway all within walking distance.

    Dorm Life

I am a commuting student so I am mostly going off of what I hear.

    Tips for prospective students

I would say prospective students need to realize how to work hard and still make time for yourself by picking activities or doing something that you love. Don't let college stress you out, it's not as scary as it seems at Millersville and the faculty is pretty willing to help you out. Pack light, bring an umbrella and a snack, and always write your homework assignments down so you don't forget; you will do great!

    In three sentences

Millersville is a cozy school in a small-town setting that makes it easy to feel comfortable and at home on campus. The programs at Millersville, particularly the education department which I am currently going up through, are very good and provide students with many unique opportunities. Millersville is a beautiful place to attend school and is constantly updating to provide it's students with technology and resources which will help them grow and succeed.
