Categories Comments Great for these types of students Great for those who enjoy being academically challenged. Great for people who want to go to a small school. Great for people who enjoy diversity and are open-minded. Great for people who understand the difference and importance of a liberal arts education.
Tips for prospective students Come visit! I think it's imperative to visit all schools you're considering. It really helps to feel out the school and see if you feel that it's a place you would enjoy. Also, there's no better way to see if you're gonna like the people than if you meet as many as you can. Come to the summer programs and to summer pre-registration. Come visit on a weekend and stay with a freshmen! They were in your place not too long ago and can probably answer all your questions.
Bang for the buck True, Millsaps, is on the pricey side. I have become especially aware of this fact because I pay my own way through school. Still, I think you are getting the bang for your bucks, for the most part. There are no surprise extra costs like some that I've noticed at other schools. For instance, parking decals and printing do not cost extra. The only thing that bothers me is the meal plan. There is only one option, and it's rather expensive compared to other schools; however, this is possible to change!
Am enjoying being here After only a month of being home after my first year at Millsaps, I was already aching to be back. I can honestly say that it has become my new home. The campus is beautiful -especially in the spring! It has a homey feel without being overwhelming. As far as rules for the students go I feel that the administration has found the perfect medium between being too strict and being too relaxed. The people -students, professors, and administration- are all so welcoming and helpful. That is one of the main factors that lead me to choosing Millsaps. They really treat you like a name, not a number.
Am learning a lot The thing I love about the Millsaps curriculum is that it's interesting -I even look forward to classes everyday. I highly value the liberal arts experience because it goes beyond the flat technicalities so often taught in some subjects and encourages students to search for meaning and reason in all areas of education. What we learn is exciting, and that really helps in the learning process. For students who might be struggling in any particular subject, professors are ready and willing to offer extra help, and study groups are easy to come by.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Any student will fit into millsaps. There are different activities to fit any student. Teachers will work with students one on one if they have to, but class sizes are 13:1 so it's easy to be heard in class.
Tips for prospective students I would say visit the campus to get a feel of how it really is because Millsaps sound tv. But we strive to have a community rather than a school, so it is more like tv. Visit our website, www.millsaps.edu, to schedule a visit. You can also stay overnight. And since I am a pathfinder, I may be the one to house you or give you a tour around our campus.
Bang for the buck The whole purpose of college is to get a great education. Millsaps is worth every penny! The teachers are eagered to help and know their material. You will find yourself having discussions on things you never thought you would have learned. In addition, Millsaps makes you their personal obligation. If you start to slack, they will make sure they revive you before it's too late. They really do care about creating a successful generation of students.
Am enjoying being here I LOVE MILLSAPS! Millsaps is all about education; however, there is always something on campus to experience. In order to enjoy college, you must find where you belong. Once that is obtained, you will feel like this is the perfect place to be.
Am learning a lot Millsaps is teaching me how to enhance my thoughts by challenging my weaknesses. Despite common views, Millsaps is not hard work-wise; you just have to learn to manage time. Living on campus is a learning experience on it's on. With a roommate, I have learned how to understand people better by living with someone and coping with their needs.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students The cool nerd as the Princeton Review puts it. Millsaps is perfect for those students who are smart, but also know how to have fun. Students at Millsaps are the type you love to always be around. There is never a dull moment on campus! We know how to work hard to make good grades so we can celebrate later. Millsaps students include athletes, dancers, artists, musicians, philosophers, quiz bowlers, the talkative ones, the shy ones, writers, mathletes, poets, politicians, scientists, just about EVERYONE!
Tips for prospective students Expect the best, Millsaps is a great place to live and learn. There will be plenty of opportunities to party and have fun, but make sure you focus on your studies, it is the reason for you attending college. Do not bring too much stuff to school, you'll just have to take all of it home over summer, plus some extra stuff. Have fun, socialize, join clubs, and make friends. You will not enjoy your experience if you have no one to share it with. It's real easy to make friends at Millsaps. There will always be someone who shares your interests and ideals.
Bang for the buck Millsaps is known for offering a top notch liberal arts education for much less than our competitors. According to Forbes magazine which ranks schools by affordability and productivity, Millsaps College is the best school in Mississippi and we rank in the top 20% of all schools in the nation. For the price of tuition Millsaps offers an education that is challenging but not overwhelmingly hard, a delicious meal 21 times a week, a welcoming and caring faculty/staff/student body, and a great time!!! I love Millsaps and you will too!
Am enjoying being here I cannot possibly picture myself anywhere else! Millsaps not only offers a great education, but gives you many opportunities to just have fun. I have recently joined over 10 on and off campus organizations and I am enjoying every minute of it. From Greek Life activities to just hanging out with friends, there is always something to do at Millsaps. I have never met a Millsaps student that did not have a smile on their face. The teachers are great, the students are loving, and the general atmosphere is perfect for all of your educational and recreational needs.
Am learning a lot Millsaps offers a challenging, yet fun educational experience. Millsaps College offers its students a top quality Liberal Arts Education that cannot be found anywhere else! Millsaps will open your eyes to all of the possibilities available to you and will equip you with all of the tools you need to be successful in any field of work you wish to join after your studies. Millsaps teaches us how to think, not what to think. You can't find that any other school.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Whether your passion is studying bugs, peace corps, teaching, working in obstetrics, self-expression through art, singing or preforming Bach, or politics among others, Millsaps is for you!
Tips for prospective students Word from the wise! Apply for more than enough scholarships... renewable ones! This forty thousand dollar education is equivalent to some single parent salaries. Ultimately, you will enjoy Millsaps more if you don't have the stress of paying for your tuition.
Bang for the buck Millsaps has the best liberal art education in the state! It's the only school in MS where you can major or minor in Peace Studies! Over 75% of Millsaps students study abroad, and scholarships are available to cover tuition and traveling fees. I love Millsaps for its diversity in its curriculum and in its students.
Am enjoying being here YEEEEESSSSSSSS! Most appealing was the connection Millsaps makes with its community through community service; the environment and the people made this a packaged deal! I love classes with service learning components where you go to, i.e., the Boys and Girls Club to help students develop conflict resolution skills. It's the hands-on experience that makes this educational process the best!
Am learning a lot Millsaps has taught me to embrace each and every challenge head on! As a student, you must give every class the preparation needed which requires managing your time wisely, and in order to stay sane you must manage your stress as well. Most of us are familiar with/or may be procrastinators who are often called “lazy” and “irresponsible.” But the truth is procrastinators are no less productive than people who work themselves to death under deadline stress. Although procrastinators put play ahead of work, they’re in a much better mood to do work, and creative juices flow better when you’re in a good mood. With that said, college is where you discover what works for you, and you just do it!

Categories Comments Campus Safety It's 100% safe. Everyone leaving or entering the campus goes through security so worries should be to a minimum.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus You must not walk on the M in the Bowl. If you do, it is said you will not graduate.
What to do for fun Go to the Kava house with friends and have a nice lunch or enjoy the frat parties held almost every weekend.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to work for your degree... seriously! Everything will count until the very end.
In three sentences It's a great learning enviroment! Hard work is expected but the result is worth it.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Find every possibly scholarship out there! Take those few minutes out of your day during a long summer day to help your future, trust me, it will be well worth it.
Bang for the buck Yes, Millsaps is very expensive. Although, the experience I have gained from just my first year has made these expenses worth every penny.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love Millsaps, the people, the teachers, and my team! I play softball and I am a proud Millsaps Major! We study hard and play hard.
Am learning a lot Throughout high school I was never pushed to my true potential, although, when I came to Millsaps I am pushed every day. But honestly, I love it and cannot picture it any other way! Millsaps has taught me to use every source of brain power I have.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck The long-term value of the Millsaps EMBA cannot be quantified by the tuition. The tuition is well in line with other programs of such rank and stature, nationally and internationally.
What to do for fun Jackson, MS, has a vibrant arts community and nightlife. You just have to come see it to believe it!
Academic Rigor Millsaps' level of excellence is as evident in this program as in the traditional MBA program.
Tips for prospective students Give this program serious consideration, even with a commute from outside the Jackson, MS, area!
In three sentences The Millsaps EMBA Program is the best opportunity I have found for an advanced degree while maintaining a full-time job. The Faculty is unparalleled and has been more than helpful during the admissions process. The curriculum so far is fantastic: challenging, but not overwhelming.

Categories Comments Campus Safety campus safety isn't terrible, but they often fall asleep at their posts, aren't polite, and let in random people from the surrounding area that claim to be students, without asking for any sort of identification. there isn't much to say about them really.
Greek Life greek life is literally the only social life on-campus. the school is well over 50% greek, and offers 5 fraternities and 5 sororities to choose from. the parties are pretty boring, and most people just get ridiculously intoxicated every weekend.
Clubs and Activities while there are over 40+ clubs to get involved in, most of them are loosely run and don't really do much. even the student body association (which i am a member of) has very low involvement in campus-life.
Great for these types of students people with very low expectations and/or lots of money.
Bang for the buck all in all, millsaps should cost about half of what it currently does. other than the deans and president, the administration is composed of alumni who can't get jobs anywhere else. the school is boring, the city is terrible, and the academics aren't what they claim them to be. it really is not worth the money.
What to do for fun good question. jackson is one of the most poverty-stricken cities in the united states, and millsaps is located right next to the subsidized housing neighborhoods. gunshots are a regular happening. the school provides no entertainment whatsoever, and the fraternity houses are the only places one can go. there isn't really anything to do in jackson without having to drive 30+ minutes away from the school.
Food and Dining the food at millsaps costs approx. $8.00 a meal, and you get prison-quality food. millsaps buys the lowest grade/quality for all food, and serves (more or less) no variety. it honestly couldn't get much worse.
Dorm Life the dorms here are disgusting and in heavy states of disrepair. it costs about $3,000 more to live on-campus in a cramped, mediocre dorm than it does to live off-campus in a nice, two-bedroom apartment. they attempt to require students to live on-campus by forcing on-campus students to purchase the meal plan and removing 1/3 of a student's total financial aid/scholarships if they move off-campus
Academic Rigor millsaps has always prized itself on its tough, rigorous academic programs. while academics are probably the best thing about this school, they really aren't that great. the classes are extremely easy unless you're taking advanced mathematics/physics/chemistry courses, and the professors grade incredibly hard. the professors here are generally very friendly and helpful, and always have time for students.
Tips for prospective students get involved in as many extracurricular activities as soon as possible. otherwise, you will be bored out of your mind. also, if you don't join a fraternity or sorority, you will not have much of a social life here. you should definitely explore other school options. this place is going downhill fast.
In three sentences millsaps college can be summed up in one word: pathetic. the school is way overpriced ($42,000 a year), the dorms are horrific, the academics are so-so, and there is absolutely nothing to do on or off campus. it is in one of the worst cities in the us, and the general attitude on campus couldn't be more apathetic.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities There are SO many clubs that you can participate in! It is really easy to get involved on campus.
Bang for the buck It's a great school! However, it is very expensive. You really have to decide whether or not it is worth it for you!
Food and Dining The Caf food does get a little old after awhile. Thankfully you can always go to the grill line and order something if you don't like what the other lines have. There is also Kava, which provides sandwiches and salads. You also get your choice of chips with cookies, fruit, and soup. This is included in the meal plan as well.
Dorm Life There are nice dorms on campus and bad dorms. The dorms that are bad are just old which is why they aren't the most appealing. Freshman year you don't have a lot of options, but since housing is determined by GPA for upperclassmen you have plenty of opportunity to get into a nice dorm if you work hard enough.
Academic Rigor The classes aren't impossible, but many of them are challenging. They really push you to do your best and turn you into a better student
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus! Take a tour and sit in on a class. Doing this will give you a better look at the college than just reading reviews and looking at their websites.
In three sentences Millsaps is very challenging at times but it is definitely worth it. Millsaps provides so many opportunities for students to excel. With the excellent faculty and tight-knit community, Millsaps is a great choice for those looking into private colleges.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Millsaps security is always available to walk you across campus if you are out late. It is a gated campus
Greek Life Greek life is great at Millsaps. The sororities and fraternities are small enough to where you become really close to your fellow members. It's most as competitive or nerve wracking as big state schools
Clubs and Activities Great Greek life. Many clubs and community service projects that you can get involved in. It's very easy to get involved and stay involved on campus.
Great for these types of students Hardworking students who really want to learn and are looking for a close teacher student relationship.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Don't step on the Millsaps crest in the center of The Bowl, the legend is that you won't graduate in 4 years and the only way to undo it is to streak across The Bowl naked.
Bang for the buck Millsaps is expensive but it is worth it. You will not receive an education like this at a big state school and it's probably one of the best liberal arts schools in the south. Millsaps degrees can open many dorms.
What to do for fun Bar scene around Jackson is mostly 21+ but everyone is welcome at the fraternity houses on weekends and because Millsaps is a gated, small campus it provides as a safe place to party.
Food and Dining The cafeteria is not great. The food isn't horrible but it is just your standard cafeteria food. Kava house is a good alternative but you can get sick of it fast. Great off campus dining.
Dorm Life Freshmen dorms are the oldest but there is nothing wrong with them. Housing gets more expensive as you move up to the nicer dorms.
Academic Rigor Extremely rigorous. Teachers are more than willing to work with you on deadlines, to meet with you individually, and to revise your paper multiple times before you submit a final draft.
Tips for prospective students Come for a visit day and sit in on a class.
In three sentences A school for hardworking and passionate students. Millsaps will really further your horizons and you will really grow as a person.

Categories Comments Greek Life Greek Life is thriving at Millsaps! There are four sororities and five fraternities. Each fraternity and sorority has a philanthropy they are strongly dedicated to, which means that there are many philanthropic events each school year.
Great for these types of students Great for students who love to read and write. Also, it is great for students who appreciate small classes with a lot of discussion.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are a few traditional ceremonies at Millsaps: Fourth Night (for freshmen) and Eve of the Seventh Season (for rising seniors). The belltower rings every hour, which is a special comfort to all students.
What to do for fun The fraternities often have theme parties on the weekend. If you're 21, you can go to the bars downtown. There are many great restaurants to eat at located closely to the college.
Tips for prospective students Be aware that you are going to be assigned a lot of reading and writing assignments. Be open-minded to all of the new ideas and cultures you will be learning about. Get ready for a crazy ride that is--in the end--all worth it.
In three sentences Millsaps places a heavy emphasis on writing. If you do not wish to write a lot, you will struggle at Millsaps. The professors are ever-encouraging and great!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety tries, but sometimes people get by. The security at the gates usually just let anyone in in cars, unless its an important day, then they would check names and reasons for visiting just to keep from letting strays in. We have had a few hold ups in the past year, but no one was harmed. Also, the neighborhood behind Millsaps Campus is undesirable, but the campus is surrounded by gates on all sides.
Greek Life Greek life here at Millsaps is not like a normal College. Most of all the people in sororities and fraternities are not exclusive to their affiliated group. The independents often hang out at the houses too unlike a lot of state schools. It is just as great to be an independent as it is to be in a sorority or fraternity, there are no biases.
Great for these types of students EVERYONE!!!!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Ghandi Statue! The Bowl! You cannot step on the Seal in the middle of the Bowl or you'll have to run across the Bowl naked or else you will not graduate. Just a silly tradition though, its not true lol.
Bang for the buck Millsaps is alot of money a year, but the love and dedication from all the professors and staff is worth it. They really care about you and try to get to know you on a personal basis.
What to do for fun Play Frisbee in the Bowl (the big grass area in the center of campus). Go on a scavenger hunt around Jackson, MS. Go long boarding down High street! Go to all the small local restaurants around Jackson. Go to the great local consignment shops (5min away)! Visit the Fondren area (practically the art district. Its just 5 minutes away!)
Food and Dining The cafeteria has a great big range of foods to eat on a daily basis. And the cafeteria staff does a great job in trying new things to keep it new and exciting (sometimes failing, but at least they try!). You tend to get sick of the food but that happens in all places where they have a cafeteria. You have to become creative sometimes if you don't want to eat something you've never eaten before.
Dorm Life Dorm life is really fun! And surprisingly chill for a small private college. The bathrooms don't get that disgusting like you might assume they do. Overall, I love the dorm experience and living down the hall from friends. Also, when going Pot-luck, the staff does a really great job matching you with another person. I know way more students satisfied with their unknown roommates than people who aren't.
Academic Rigor The classes here definitely make you push yourself more than an average college or university. The small student-teacher ratio makes it impossible to skip class going unnoticed. The teachers are all very open to helping you in whatever way possible. With most of the classes here at Millsaps you cannot get away with just studying the night before and succeeding, thorough studying is required.
Tips for prospective students Come into Millsaps college with a big mindset because what you gather from going here all matters on how much you open yourself up. The campus and class size is small, but the possibilities are huge!
In three sentences Millsaps has very welcoming staff and students. Along with a beautiful campus, all of Millsaps' students are very focused on getting the best education around. The education obtained from Millsaps College is phenomenal with its diverse Major fields and well-rounded professors.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Millsaps is completely enclosed by an iron fence and has security guards at the entrance gates at all times. I fell the campus is very safe.
Greek Life The fraternities and sororities at Millsaps are very active both on campus and in the community. They are involved with many community and charity events, and they provide a good source of camaraderie and entertainment on campus.
Clubs and Activities There are several fraternities and sororities on campus, as well as sports teams.
Great for these types of students Millsaps is a college that is great for students who are serious about school, who want more out of life, and who like a small college environment.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I'm not aware of any unusual traditions yet, but I'm looking forward to finding out if they have any! I know there is a serious football rivalry between Millsaps and Mississippi College.
Bang for the buck Going to a small, private college in a metropolitan provides the best of both worlds. Because it is small, the opportunity to get to know more students better is presented. Being in a large city provides entertainment and cultural opportunities. Plus, the college provides a wonderful education that will help graduates be more successful in their careers.
What to do for fun Millsaps is located in Jackson, Mississippi, which is the state's capital. There are plenty of great restaurants, museums, and other activities in town. On campus, fraternity and sorority functions provide plenty of fun, and there are always live theatre, music and dance performances on campus. The Millsaps Lecture Series provides incredible speakers and entertainers each month.
Food and Dining I've had a few chances to dine on campus at Millsaps, and my experience has always been good. The selection is great, and the quality and portions served are excellent.
Dorm Life There are two new dorms at Millsaps, and many rooms dedicated to single rooms. For an older student like myself (23), that's a nice option. The dorms are situated conveniently close to classes and provide optimum accommodations for studying.
Academic Rigor I've spoken with many current and former Millsaps students, and the consensus is that students work hard at the college. Professors expect much from the students, yet they are accessible and willing to help students at any time. Because of that, those who earn degrees from Millsaps have a leg up in the business world.
Tips for prospective students To get the most out of the college experience, students need to know all the school has to offer. Make an effort to get involved in on-campus activities, including those that will help you do better in your major, as well as those that interest you.
In three sentences Millsaps has a reputation for having a fine business school. It is in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi in a beautiful setting. Millsaps is a liberal-arts college that places a strong emphasis on academics.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Excellent...
Greek Life The campus does have some; however it is not diverse.
Clubs and Activities Numerous activities and clubs are available.
Great for these types of students Close knit family. Mellow, quiet, routine studies, very serious about the academia.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus If you sent on the M-bench with a boy and kiss him. It is said that the two will be married.
Bang for the buck Very EXPENSIVE!!!! Great education; but be prepared to pay for it. Not sure that the education is worth graduating with $100k in debt. It costs about 46k per year to attend. Have to weigh education and affordability.
What to do for fun Attend football games and all the activities occuring on campus. Alot of college students also go to the coffee bars and pizzarias in the downtown area to hangout.
Food and Dining The cafe has great food and the chef makes your food to order. The campus also has a great late night cafe (Reubens).
Dorm Life Typical. Freshman get the worse dorms. However, better dorms are granted by highest GPA.
Academic Rigor Very HARD acadmeia. Be prepared to spend 2 hours outside of class for each course. Alot of studying.
Tips for prospective students Very small (about 1100 students). Very close knit group of students. Direct access to professors. No teaching assistants. The most students in any class is about 15. Alot of hands on and direct one-on-one with the professor. Lots of writing papers for each class (even math)! Great writing lab, be prepared to write 12-15 papers in your freshman year. Spend about
In three sentences Millsaps is a great small private liberal arts college in the heart of downtown Jackson, MS. The city is full of history and Millsaps College embraces the history and culture of this vibrant capital city. There is always something to do and the community welcomes the students to all events within the city.
