Tuition, Cost & Aid

Affordability and Cost

Average Net Price Average net price for full-time, first-time degree/certificate-seeking undergraduates paying the in-state or in-district tuition rate who were awarded grant or scholarship aid from federal, state or local governments, or the institution. Other sources of grant aid are excluded. Aid awarded anytime during the full aid year is included.

Average net price is generated by subtracting the average amount of federal, state or local government, or institutional grant and scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees (lower of in-district or in-state), books and supplies and the weighted average room and board and other expenses.

Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

What Students Are Saying

It has everything you want and then some without breaking the bank!
Jenna from Ashland, KY
Morehead's tuition is extremely affordable. I don't spend anywhere near what everyone else spends to get the same education. The housing is mediocre, but it is relatively affordable. One of the things that I think Morehead should offer would be a better option for younger students to live off campus. Overall, however, I feel like my money is well spent. There is a tuition calculator on Morehead's website that will tell you just how much you would spend in different scenarios.
Catherine from Louisville, KY
All of the dorms are pretty awesome, the dining is great, and your professors actually care about their students due to the smaller class sizes they can get to know you better, I think MSU really does give their students a great Bang for their buck!
Shianne from Elizabethtown, KY
Tuition at MSU was one of the many things that made me chose Morehead. It is reasonable, and they will help you with scholarships and financial aide in any way possible to make sure you can pay and get a good education. A lot of people end up paying absolutely nothing.
Ashley from Chavies, KY
One of the cheapest colleges I know of besides a community college. A good education at a cheaper price is never a bad combination.
Lauren from Harrodsburg, KY
I'm happy enough with my Morehead experience. It wasn't too expensive for me (so far) because of scholarships and other aid I'm receiving so I am getting a great education for very little money.
Shannon from Grayson, KY
Lots of scholarship opportunities!
Allie from Clearfield, KY
Cheapest state school in Kentucky, and it isn't bad for being so cheap.
Abbey from London, KY
Morehead State is very affordable and considering that the gym and sporting events are all free, you definitely get your money's worth.
