Great for these types of students

If you plan on entering the health care field and want to do clinicals in the Methodist hospitals. Also, if you want to provide the best care possible for your future patients.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you apply early especially for the allied health programs because they only allow so many in. I know radiology only accepts like 30 and Sonography only accepts 6

    Bang for the buck

Yes the school is expensive, but for what I have received from the school so far it is SO worth it!

    Am enjoying being here

The campus makes me feel right at home. I live on campus and I love the building I live in. We have all become so close and still find time to get together and hang out and relax.

    Academic Rigor

I am almost done with school now I feel like I have already gotten way more than what my money paid for. Everyone is willing to help you and answer all the questions you have. I love it!

    Campus Safety

Security are the nicest people you will meet. They will go out on a limb to help you. I especially had troubles with my car and they were always there to help. Also if you get locked out of your apartment or don't feel safe walking by yourself they will always help. Campus security is always making sure that the students are safe. They have made several revisions to the college to keep everyone safe. The college has cameras all around campus, and id cards to get access into buildings.

    Bang for the buck

While I consider the nursing classes a reasonable price. I don't like having to pay the same price for other minor classes (electives) that do not directly deal with nursing.

    What to do for fun

When you have time, I would go to the gym on campus or join some of the clubs the school offers. There are the different clubs depending on your major. I would definitely recommend volunteering in your own spare time as well. But with the course work load, work, and family; finding extra time can be difficult.

    Food and Dining

There is no formal cafeteria. There are the occasional vendors that come to the school and the school also has a cafe. The cafe has different foods, my favorite is the nachos. But they also have a great selection of different coffee and snacks. There are different locations to store your own food if you bring your own lunch. The school has many microwaves and different vending machines at your disposal.

    Dorm Life

I lived on campus for two years, and had a very pleasant experience. Parking can sometimes be an issue but on certain occasions. Security is around 24/7 if you ever need them. Even if you need them to kill a spider in your room. The campus is conveniently located in the center of town and there are many grocery stores all around and places of entertainment. There is no meal plan, so I had to start learning how to cook. But I was able to start eating more healthy and was more aware of the foods I was eating. The RA that lived on campus were great and were always available if you had a problem. The people that live on campus have get-togethers and fun activities like sand volleyball, bowling, and tie dying. I have met some of my closest friends by living on campus. Living on campus is very convenient because it is right across from the college. Sometimes 5 minutes is all you need to get you to your class. While I loved living on campus, it starts to get expensive. In order to save money I went to live with some relatives otherwise I would have stayed on campus.

    Academic Rigor

The curriculum is very challenging, I would prepare yourself mentally for the amount of studying required. Nursing tests can also be difficult. I found myself learning how to study, which was much different that in high school. professors want you to learn, but they want you to learn how to use critical thinking skills. Which is one of the reasons I find college so difficult, it is not just memorization its applying your knowledge to different scenarios. The answers on the test are usually all right but you have to pick the best response. Choosing the best response is difficult and that is why professors want you to learn how to use critical thinking skills.

    Tips for prospective students

I would recommend students to take general courses at a community college first because tuition can easily start to add up. Also, if you have a family member in town, I would ask if you could live with them (housing can be very expensive). Try forming study groups to help you get to know others and to find the best way to study. Studying for nursing test is very difficult. I would recommend getting to know your professors well and using their open times to ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask for help. If you take the first test and don't like your score, talk to your advisers and maybe get a tutor or ask friends for help. I would greatly recommend going to the SI sessions.

    In three sentences

Nebraska Methodist College is a great school for those interested in the health sciences. So far in my experience, I have been mentally challenged with the curriculum. Everyone, professors and staff, are extremely friendly and will do what it takes to help you succeed.
