“Living in a dorm has a lot of pros and a few cons. Pros: - A five to ten minute walk from all your classes - Easy access to social events -Safety -Already prepared…”
“depends on the dorm you end up in. letter dorms are the nicest; dortstein is suitable; pei is tiny; and b dorm (where i live) is classic dorm living, with…”
“If you are not a party-lover, a drinker, a smoker, or the like you may find it hard to find others similar to yourself on campus. The dorm buildings are…”
“Very social. Community parties (Walls) are held every Friday and Saturday and the campus is so small you will hear them. But, there are hundreds of places that are perfectly…”
“Personally, I love my dorm. I called it my 'mini-house'. I have my own restroom and closet in the room and the kitchen is just downstairs. …”
There is a student-run Cafe here called Four Winds, along with a cafeteria called Hamilton Center. Some might say the food here isn't the best, but there are opportunities to cook in the dorm kitchens, or go elsewhere for meals.
» Read MoreThe hours can be very inconvenient. The food tends to be fairly overpriced for what it is. If you must buy more food money buy it from other students, not from the college! the students give a much better deal on it.
» Read MoreDefinitely not going to lie about this. The food here is really rough. It is all industrial bland food made by a company who feeds people in prison. Not to say that it is utterly terrible, but I wouldn't mind it being better. This school is a small school, not too many companies think New College is worth the money. Food might be an issue if you are a picky eater.
» Read MoreThe food is pretty bad. But you'll get used to it, and the Four Winds (a student run café) offers fantastic options that are vegan and vegetarian friendly. In addition, students will set up their own café type food options sort of randomly throughout the semester so keep an eye out for those!
» Read MoreComing to New College, you will have three food choices: Hamilton Cafeteria food, a (limited) Boar's Head Cafe, and the student-run (vegan and vegetarian) Four Winds Cafe. There aren't very many restaurants within walking distance from the campus, so if you are car-less, you may become very unhappy with your choices. There are community kitchens, but the ovens and stoves don't always work, and some students don't clean up after themselves. There are always plenty of vegan and vegetarian options (half of the school is vegan or vegetarian), though the cafeteria is not very good at serving a variety of food choices. The cafeteria staff is very nice, they just don't have the resources to buy students better quality food.
» Read MoreIt's by no means a 4 star restaurant, but the options are there. There is always a vegan/vegetarian option and the staff is incredibly friendly.
» Read MoreEh, its not the best in selection and availability. The food is always decent, but you're not guaranteed a meal that you like. Hours are kinda funky too. Open for a couple hours at a time and have late night pizza mon-thu. We also have a Boar's Head sub shop open from 10-5 weekdays. Its the weekends that really suck. Brunch (which is basically breakfast) opens at 11 and dinner is at 5. So if you want breakfast before 11 then you have to seek elsewhere.
» Read MoreNot too bad as everyone else says, but not as many options as larger schools
» Read MoreHAM center, the main student food court, is horrible and the food is low quality. There is a student run food facility on the other side of campus but the prices are high.
» Read MoreSince New College is a small school (limits its entire student body to 800 students), there is not the large cafeteria one finds at a university; however, they feed the students very well and allow the students to get food throughout the day and night.

» Read MoreWe do not offer Greek life nor school sponsored sports. We of course have sports teams, soccer mostly, that compete with other teams in Sarasota, just not a collegiate competitive team like the Gators.
