» Read MoreFor new students I would recommend having the money ready to buy books BUT DON'T BUY THEM BEFORE THE QUARTER STARTS. Mostly this applies to the general courses such as math and english because more than likely you will not use them very much, if at all. The library has a lot of school books on reserve for you to borrow to save hundreds of dollars. The books that are for the classes in your major wouldn't hurt you to buy ahead of time because a lot can be used as reference later on in life but it's still a good idea to wait until the teacher confirms you will need the book for the course.
