Categories Comments Campus Safety Never felt there was a safety issue. You are provided with a security fob when you become a student so unless you are a student you can't really get into the school without checking in at the front first. Parking is right next to the school and the lots are patrolled by security.
Greek Life None
Clubs and Activities There are boards you can participate on and occasionally there may be a Meditation or Yoga class offered by fellow students.
Great for these types of students Student's who are interested in studying alternative or complimentary medicine. You touch on other modalities besides just acupuncture so it offers you a range of opportunity and experiences.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Nothing I can really think of...
Bang for the buck It doesn't cost any more then other graduate programs. This is a specialized, accredited school so I find it well worth the $. I feel I will leave here with all the tools I need to be a great acupuncturist. One thing I really appreciated is in the 1st year they offer a business class about being an acupuncturist and the realities of starting your own business or the different areas you can use this profession. It was very informative and helps a new student understand just what they can do with such a degree.
What to do for fun It's a specialized Graduate School so there is not really a social life with in the school. Every now and then there are gatherings within the school day and meditation/wellness classes offered by fellow class mates. This type of activity is encouraged by the Dean and Student Affairs faculty.
Food and Dining No dining hall but great student lounge to store and prepare your own food. Also many local restaurants and grocery stores in walking distance from the school.
Dorm Life There are no dorms. Local apartments close to the school plus great public transportation.
Academic Rigor Very demanding and a lot of time has to be put into studying. There are 3 different tracks you can study and each requires you to learn a lot of information....especially herbs. Great Herbs program but you are expected to learn 1000's of herbs.
Tips for prospective students Expect to study a lot of information BUT there are great resources here to help you retain and understand the information (along with TA's). Sometimes it is like learning a new language because of the Chinese names and concepts but the information is enforced over and over through out your schooling.
In three sentences Love the school and the program. The school environment (other students) is very comfortable and inviting. The professors are fantastic with tons of knowledge, experience and passion. Love that there is tons of hands on rotations through out your 3-4 years here.
