Be different. NYU is all about diversity. Everyone you meet here is fascinating in their own way. The things you can look forward to here is bragging rights you live in one of the world's greatest cities there's basically no resource or industry not a your fingertips. Internships are everywhere if you take the chance to look and in my first year alone I've met some of my idols: film directors, DJs, musicians etc. Also a lot of kids at NYU have their heart set on what they want to do. We are really school oriented here. You can choose...

The program (I'm a graduate student in the French department) is rigorous and demanding, but the resources (libraries, events, networking functions...) make the work feel very engaging and well worth the extra effort. The professors are very well connected to the movers and shakers of New York's publishing industry and don't mind making the introductions if you need to meet so-and-so to get your foot in the door. I love how central it is and how the campus is interwoven with New York itself.

NYU is great if you want to live in a big city. There is no real campus so don't come looking for a quad or a gated campus, there isn't one. However what NYU lacks campus wise it certainly makes up for with spirit and a great sense of community.

NYU offers a very distinct college experience. It's lack of a closed campus makes it a bit more challenging to create a sense of community often, but also allows for the greatest city in the world to become your backyard. It is academically rigorous but will help you to realize your own strengths very quickly.

NYU is filled with opportunities, but it is completely up to you to pursue and work for them. There are a lot of dedicated professors who genuinely love their field, and love to share their knowledge with their students. NYU will challenge you on every single level possible, at times it will be hard, at times you will want to quit, but the people that rise up to the challenge and overcome their hardships achieve more than they can imagine.
