Great for these types of students

This college is excellent and perfect for students who love the Lord with all of their heart and are evidently and constantly seeking after Him to have a personal relationship with Him. And to especially those who are seeking to serve the Lord in some sort of minsitry.

    Tips for prospective students

Pray about this a lot and save! Even if you are a highschool freshman it is never to early to start saving up for college! It is not only a benefit to yourself but also to your parents. It will make things so much easier. A thousand dollars when thought of in the grand scheme of things in college doesn't sound like much, but it can be the deciding factor between college of your dreams and community college!

    Bang for the buck

Compared to most Christian colleges Northland is CHEAP!!!! And yet the academics and campus-life do not suffer because of this. Northland is definitely worth the cost! Also, if you plan on studying abroad, I'm pretty sure the tuition rates are the same so that's an extra plus!!!

    Will enjoy being here

If you love the Lord, YES!!!!! Within ten minutes of being on campus I saw three students randomly on their hands and knees praying. It was so cool!!! Literally everybody I met was nice and friendly. Northland also has great student activities to entertain you, which range from theater productions, skiing, ice skating, sports, tubing, sledding, snow ball fights, chapel, extensions and so much more! You'll never be bored!

    Will learn a lot

The teachers seemed very eager and excited to get to know you personally and teach you. Everybody seemed to be an expert in their field!!!

Great for these types of students

Any students looking for a campus where they can be themselves in a positive manner.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

During the basketball games, they body surf students, and sometimes (if willing) faculty members. Also, summer different camps are held for younger children/teens.

    Bang for the buck

Northland International University is cheaper with just ask much to offer as other schools

    What to do for fun

NIU has tons of options for fun. We have a mini-golfing area, water slides for the lakes that are here, sand volleyball area, multiple basketball courts, a rock climbing area, a zip-line area, and numerous events that occur on campus.

    Food and Dining

The dining hall has been excellent. There is a variety of choices, the food is well cooked, very healthy, and that is with all three courses.

    Dorm Life

They have the dorms are cool. Four to each room and there is a main lobby where everyone can just relax together after a long day. Everyone on the hall gets along well.

    Academic Rigor

They have a variety of great majors to choose from. The teachers are definitely passionate about what they teach. They engage you in such a way that you feel odd when NOT participating.

    Tips for prospective students

I would suggest taking a serious look at this school. There are so many doors and avenues that come with choosing this school.

    In three sentences

Northland International University is an outstanding school. The atmosphere here is unlike any school I've experienced. The students, faculty, and programs just promote positivity, love, and excellence.

    What to do for fun

Since Northland is located in the middle of the woods in northern Wisconsin there isn't much for city fun, but Northland does have a couple of lakes on campus and miles of walking/running trails. Pathways in the fall and spring are good for bike riding or running. The closest town is Iron Mountain, MI, about 30 minutes away. Many shops and restaurants are located there, and there is also a cinema where students can go and see the latest movie releases.

    Food and Dining

The food is quite decent as far as college food goes. We have a really nice salad and deli bar with fresh soup everyday and a panini maker. The food selection is pretty good for entrees and there's always a rotation bar that will have another selection everyday (normally baked potatoes, pizza, or tacos).

    Dorm Life

Nothland has separate dorms for the men and women, so I can't say anything about the guys' dorm. But coming from the girls' I can say that it was fantastic! This girls are great at this school. Usually the halls are decently quite, especially after 11:00PM. We have a kitchen and a lounge area on first floor along with a small exercise room. Girls normally are in a room of three or four (depending on student enrollment) and share one bathroom within that room. Closet space is pretty decent plus each girl gets a small set of drawers. Overall, the dorms at Northland (at least the girls') are very enjoyable to live in.

    Academic Rigor

Northland has a variety of different classes on all academic levels. But the teachers will challenge their students in all classes to put in as much effort as possible. Think of Northland as extremely challenging in its academics, but definitely doable for anyone willing to put in time and effort.

    Tips for prospective students

Tips for Prospective Students: - Don't be afraid of not knowing anyone; you will definitely be warmly welcomed by many. - The classes are a bit challenging and take some effort, but are definitely worth the extra work. Plus, teachers are more than willing to take the time to go through something individually with their students. -Expect Northland to be more than just an educational degree but a life-learning experience. The heart of Northland is expressed in the harmony and unity the student body portrays in everyday life on campus.

    In three sentences

Northland is located in the beautiful woods of northern Wisconsin, giving it a wonderful atmosphere to learn in a peaceful environment. The faculty and staff truly care about their students, and the student body is like a family. The academics definitely challenge the students but are very rewarding considering students receive a biblical viewpoint in every class.

    Campus Safety

Camus safety has always been a priority and the safety of students is ensured.

    Clubs and Activities

    Basketball, Wrestling, and Volleyball

Great for these types of students

Baptist, Christian, Theology, or students wanting to learn more about the Bible and God.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Reflection Lake is a quick walk and is spectacular during sunrise or sunset. 12 foot falls is a frequent visit and has seen its fair share of engagements. The campus rec hall has always been a place to get together with friends and share a pizza.

    Bang for the buck

I am content with paying for the education and the experience that Northland Provides. I am just sad that I only have one more semester left.

    What to do for fun

Fishing, Hiking, Biking, Swimming and in the winter there are some close ski and snowboard areas.

    Food and Dining

Dinning is excellent as Northland brings in a caterer to prepare the meals. Also the dinning hall is always bustling with good conversations.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is dorm life and can be loud at times but never gets out of hand.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are challenging but appropriate for whatever degree is being earned. The curriculum and information learned however is excellent and superb.

    Tips for prospective students

The first tip I would say would be to contact Mandy McClain and watch her work her financial aid magic. The second tip is to get ready for a friendly/family environment as the student body is a close knit community.

    In three sentences

Northland is a small close knit college where education and the advancement of its students are key. The teachers interact one on one with students to the best of their abilities and has helped to create the feel of Northland.

    Campus Safety

We're located in the middle of the north woods of Wisconsin, so there's not much to worry about here! Northland does, however, have a 24/7 security department that is always on call.

    Clubs and Activities

Not only does Northland have awesome sports teams, but we also have a student council that plans fun, sometimes random activities. During my time at Northland, this has included movie nights in the gym, laser tag in the classroom buildings, an XBox tournament, bowling nights, singspirations, etc. We also have an annual Spirit Week that is full of costumes, games, and competitions. From experience, I can say that there's no lack of fun at Northland; it's finding the balance between fun and studying that can be difficult!

Great for these types of students

Students who love God and love others, and who want to develop their talents to use for God's glory.

    Bang for the buck

Definitely worth it! Our financial office is awesome; they do everything possible to help a student make it through school with no debt. For the education that you will receive, and everything else that you will experience at the same time, the cost of attending Northland is reasonable.

    What to do for fun

Because of Northland's location, fall and spring are great times to hike and explore all the waterfalls close to campus. Green Bay is 1½ hrs away, so it's also fun to go to Green Bay for the day for shopping, eating, or seeing a movie.

    Food and Dining

Northland renovated their dining hall in 2012 and hired a professional catering service. There is a great variety of food, and the new dining hall is beautiful. Free waffles and ice cream at every meal; it doesn't get much better than that!

    Dorm Life

Life in the dorms has been a great experience for me. At the beginning of each semester, I'm always nervous to find out who my new roommates are. But each year, I've been blessed with awesome roommates who have been tons of fun and have helped me grow. The RAs (Resident Assistants) and the rest of the dorm staff go out of their way to make sure we know that they care about us. I've walked into the dorm lounge several times to find gallons of sweet tea and huge plastic storage containers filled with trail mix and popcorn, all made by the dorm staff just to show us they care.

    Academic Rigor

Northland has chosen to rest on its niche, instead of trying to offer every degree and outcome. Because of this, they do what they do very well. I have been challenged more than I thought possible. Teachers can be tough and give lots of work, but because they try to know each student personally, they also work with you. The professors not only want your academic success, but also want to use each class period to glorify God and point you to Christ.

    Tips for prospective students

First, please visit! I scoured Northland's website before attending, but the atmosphere that Northland students fall in love with is difficult to explain in words. You can come visit at any time during the semester, so I'd encourage you to take the time to come see for yourself what we're all about. I promise that you won't regret it! Second, be prepared for the weather. It IS cold, but coming prepared will make your first year much easier! Third, please realize that Northland is not just a Christian university by name. Northland's mission and goals are clearly lived out by the staff and faculty, which fosters an atmosphere of discipleship and growth on campus. If that is what you're looking for in a school, you'll love Northland!

    In three sentences

I've fallen in love with Northland's rural location and have been challenged academically, but I didn't ultimately choose Northland for these reasons. I chose Northland because the atmosphere that thrives on campus is one of community, love for God, and discipleship. This incredible atmosphere combined with individualized academics has been the perfect fit to help prepare me for my future goals.
