I strongly recommend getting involved in campus life. One can miss out on a lot of the community that makes up Northwestern, and as a result, have a less than stellar experience. I also recommend making friends with your academic adviser. They alone can help you graduate on-time by directing you as to how to best blend your academic schedule and life most efficiently.

Go visit the campus, it is really beautiful. Also, talk to a Student Ambassador and a faculty member to find out more about specific majors and programs.

Get to know other students right away. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself to people. Get to know your professors, especially in your field of study. Buy your books online and sell them back to the campus store at the end of the semester.
