Categories Comments Bang for the buck There is so much offered in such a little school that you definitely get your moneys worth! Everyone that graduates is ready for the next chapter in their life because of this school teaching us so much, not limited to only academics.
What to do for fun This school is always a lot of fun. Right across the street is a sports-world that has mini golf, go-carts, batting cages, pool, laser tag, and an arcade. Each year the school does many student-faculty games. It is a great way to meet other teachers and students. The student-faculty softball game is the biggest hit, mainly because of the free hot dogs given out. The other games include student-faculty volleyball, mini golf tournament, and a jeopardy tournament that pits school clubs against each other.
Food and Dining In the main building there is a kitchen that serves up breakfast items and sandwiches for lunch. You can customize anything! If the owner likes it enough, your creation can be a special that is available for everyone to try. Down the street towards the science building is a deli inside a grocery store. If you like meat it is the place for you because they pile it on. Across from the green there is a diner with excellent pancakes and next to that is a pizza place that serves the towns best pizza and garlic bread. There is a variety so you never have to worry about not finding something.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at this college, but they are open late for students to stay and study in the library or student centers.
Academic Rigor The teachers want you to learn so the class work can be challanging, but you have to expect it since it is college. The nursing program especially has very difficult classes. However, the teachers are wonderful. They have many hours on campus that are available for you to talk to them if you need help. There are many different learning styles that are put into one class. Some include, independent study, group activities, group discussions, projects, labs, and class lectures.
Tips for prospective students Meet with your advisor before picking classes if you know what you will be majoring. They are very helpful in creating a balanced schedule that works best for you. They want to see you succeed and will provide you with all the tools necessary to do it.
In three sentences This school is small but mighty. The teachers are great and always available. They offer many classes to accommodate any ones schedule including: online, in class, and hybrid.

Categories Comments Campus Safety It's like a second home.
Clubs and Activities There's not a ton of clubs and activities but there's a decent amount to get involved in and I'm sure the school would be willing to start new ones up if brought to their attention.
Great for these types of students tuition aware, eventual transfers to 4 year degree, part-time students
Bang for the buck If you're smart with your money you'll come here. It is currently the most inexpensive CT Community College for in-state students and many credits will transfer seamlessly to a variety of schools throughout Connecticut to continue your degree.
What to do for fun Winsted has a variety of places to hang out and have a good time. There's laser tag,a movie theater, R&B's sports world, a YMCA, and tons of small restaurants to try out.
Food and Dining Our on-campus store is very good but there is many other options available from big franchises such as McDonald's to small locally owned restaurants like McGrane's on the Green and Kent Pizza.
Academic Rigor Depends on what major you're going for. Classes are of quality and teacher's are normally very fair in their grading. Even if you aren't always doing well with the small class sizes and availability of the staff and tutors you can most certainly turn your academic misfortune into solid A's.
Tips for prospective students Campus is great for studying as there is usually not many distractions. If you want to party meet people and hang out.
In three sentences Here at Nortwestern CT Community College there is a student population that transcends generations. Whether you're taking a course for continued education or starting out on your path for a degree Northwestern CT has something to offer you.
