Norwich University

Northfield, VT, USA

Ready to tackle real-world challenges and make an impact through your education? Norwich University is the oldest private military college in the U.S. and is in the heart of the Green Mountains of Northfield, Vermont.

Founded in 1819 by Captain Alden Partridge, we are the birthplace of ROTC. Our rural location and over 200 years of impressive history allow us to offer a hands-on learning environment that gets you out of the classroom and into your education.

Depending on your academic interests, your studies may lead to serving as real-time cybersecurity for the Superbowl, working with NASA to improve a minisatellite, or joining an expedition to Antarctica!

Our 16:1 faculty-to-student ratio means small class sizes. You won’t get caught in a crowd—but are front and center throughout your college experience.

Beyond your regular classwork, Norwich offers 100+ internship opportunities and study-abroad adventures. You'll maximize your intellectual potential and poise yourself for a fulfilling career.

Military Lifestyle Opportunity

For those who are interested in the military or structured leadership experiences, we offer a distinctive cadet program that challenges students physically, mentally, and morally to excel as future leaders.

Norwich also serves civilian residential and commuter students and a large online graduate and continuing-education student body. Together they create a diverse student body that reflects the world today.

What Students Are Saying

A small, private, expensive college placed right in the middle of a beautiful Green Mountain valley of Vermont. The Corp of Cadets is the base of it's strong traditions with a twist of mainly Architecture, Engineering, and Athletic Civilians. Some students (like myself) love it here, others despise it.
Rugger
NU is a high quality educational school that prides itself on its culture, history and tradition, and ability to extract the highest level of performance from its students. The faculty is genuinely interested in the growth of the students and will go above and beyond to assist those who seek it out. The services and classrooms, as well as the housing, is kept in excellent condition making it a pure joy to attend school here.

Norwich University is a small, beautiful, historical campus split down the center: One half is civilian, the other is the corps of cadets. The classes are small with about 20 students and the work is challenging, but very rewarding. The University has a large price tag, but a lot of benefits accompany it.
