    Campus Safety

Just look at the crime report! (There's hardly anything TO report...) Plus, since everyone knows everyone, intruders are easily idenitfied, and if you got into trouble someone would come to your aid pretty quickly. It's also well-lit at night and if someone did try to pull something you'd see it coming miles away!

    Food and Dining

One thing I really appreciated is that there is a suggestion box, AND someone on the other end who actually reads those suggestions and usually acts on them.

    Dorm Life

Very welcoming atmosphere! The facilities have something to be desired, but that should change in the next couple of years, as they are planning to build a new dorm building.

    Academic Rigor

I'm told that it's pretty easy to just brush by with C's, thus the lower rating. However, if like me you are here to really LEARN, the professors are very welcoming and will go out of their way to help you do so. In rigor potential, I would give it five stars for those who are motivated. (However, I've been told that the Psych program is very rigorous. I only took one class from the Psych professor, but I still heartily agree!)

    Tips for prospective students

If you want to go into ministry this is the college for you! But science or math... Well, they have one class for each topic. (Unless the science you're looking for is Psych - they have an entire program in Psych and the professor is really good.)

    In three sentences

It's a great college, with great professors, and a great heart for ministry! The community is very welcoming and it was a delight to attend there last semester.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are challenging but do not seem to be super difficult as long as you take the time to do your homework you will do fine.

If you are looking for a small close knit community that focuses on Biblical teaching Oak Hills is the place for you. Oak Hills is a small campus but super friendly.

    Campus Safety

The staff keeps a close eye on the surrounding rural area, as Oak Hills is right outside of town, and on the lake, to let the students know when it is safe to walk on the ice, go ice skating, or ice fishing. The security also does a great job.

    Clubs and Activities

Because of it's small size, Oak Hills only offers two sports, basketball for men, and volleyball for women, with the possibility of more in the future. Do you like to sing or play an instrument? Join the worship team! Do you like to play sports for fun? Oak Hills has intramural flag football and floor hockey. There are also random games of soccer, ultimate frisbee, and many other sports. There is a Student Leadership team you can join, and Bible studies you can attend, or even start your own!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The beautiful campus is a great place for taking walks. The lake is also a fun place to swim or canoe. One unusual tradition we have is when a couple gets engaged, the man must be laked, meaning he gets thrown in the lake!

    Bang for the buck

I have grown and learned so much since I began attending Oak Hills. I have made so many great friends. If you are concerned about the tuition, it is one of the cheapest private schools in Minnesota. I was able to get a lot of financial aid.

    What to do for fun

The campus is so small there is not always a lot going on, but the student center is an awesome place to hang out, with couches, a TV, a pool table and foosball table. It is a really good experience for students to learn leadership as you are very much encouraged to plan activities yourself. The Student Life Team does a good job of planning intramural sports, random game nights, and different activities, such as dorm get-togethers with treats and games, etc.

    Food and Dining

I enjoy the food and the staff team is great. There is room for improvement, but for being such a small school, I think they do a good job of serving. And they have a large variety of food.

    Dorm Life

The campus and dorms are small enough where you can easily make friends and get to know just about everyone. There is room for improvements, as apparently the dorm buildings are older and the electrical wiring, etc. cannot handle too much. Small electrical appliances are not allowed, such as a mini fridges and microwaves.

    Academic Rigor

I believe that the lower level classes may not be challenging as compared to the average university, but they do get more challenging. I've heard complaints about not feeling challenged, but it is hard to cater to every student. Oak Hills does a good job of staying at a happy medium.

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely come visit the campus and see if you can sit in on a class and check out the dorms. Remember that it is a very small campus and an older school, but know that this way, you are very integrated into the community, becoming part of the family.

    In three sentences

Oak Hills has a really great community feel and it is great because you basically get to know every single person on campus. The faculty are amazing and so kind and the campus is beautiful. The size can be a downside because some see it as being too small and the school could make some improvements/advancements, as in going more technological and making dorm life better.
