Categories Comments Great for these types of students Oakland is great for students who are looking for a top tier education at an affordable price. Also, for students who are interested in the sciences, this is one of the best schools in the state to obtain an excellent science education. Also, students who are looking for a campus that is not overwhelmingly big will love the perfect size of Oakland and the beautiful land that it rests on.
Tips for prospective students My advice is to evaluate everything carefully before deciding to attend. Finances are definitely a big part of it but you also want to pick Oakland because you feel comfortable here. You also want to really think about what program you choose to do and make sure it is the one that will best lead you to a career you will love to do as well as support your family.
Bang for the buck This school is very affordable because it doesn't require it's students to live on campus. However, things can get quite frustrating when the financial aid office doesn't complete things in a timely manner which can cause scrambling close to the start of the new semester. The quality of the classes are definitely worth the price.
Am enjoying being here I love this campus! It is an absolutely gorgeous campus that is not too big and not too small. The students here are also of a good quality and they try their best to help you to feel at home on campus.
Am learning a lot Throughout high school I was never challenged but as soon as I came to OU that all changed. The professors have been pretty good for the most part and they have challenged me to think critically which is a lost art in our society today.

Tips for prospective students Tour the Campus before your scrambling to get to class on time - many of the buildings are very far apart. Try to coordinate your schedule so that you have time in between classes for studying, as well as socializing. Enjoy yourself, and don;t be too hard on yourself - there are tons of resources at Oakland to help you succeed.
Bang for the buck Compared to other Universities around )(University of Michigan, Wayne State university) the tuition is very reasonable. Oakland was very generous with financial aid, and they were quick to offer me work study opportunities. You also get allot more than just tuition. As an Oakland student, you have free access to the fitness center, and many other free activities going on everyday on campus.
Did enjoy being here The Campus is beautiful, the professors are knowledgeable and friendly, and I feel that I really had a great College experience. I took advantage of the extensive Kresge Library, I played trumpet in the practice rooms of Varner Hall, I studied beneath a great oak near the fountain, and I had a snowball fight on the soccer field. I cheered for the basketball team as a member of pep-band, and I read non-academic books by the fire-place in the Oakland Center. In short, Great Campus, and always lots to do.
Did learn a lot I took a variety of classes and enjoyed each and everyone of them. My favorite class of my 2008 fall semester was intro to sociology with Dr. George Sanders. We covered a wide range of topics, and Dr. Sanders employed a wide range of teaching techniques. Although I am a music major, and do not necessarily need to know the inns and outs of sociology, I will carry the knowledge I gained from this course with me forever, and I will continue to take sociology classes as electives.

Tips for prospective students -sign up for your classes early! -ASK FOR HELP WHEN YOU NEED IT! -form a study group for each class -DONT CRAM! -have fun and enjoy the campus!
Bang for the buck OU is one of the cheaper universities around MI but I am still having some trouble affording it. I have taken out stuent loans for both my freshman and sophomore year and I am still having trouble affording it. The campus is beautiful and the professors are very good but at the same time, I feel that the tuition rate is higher then what it really should be.
Am enjoying being here The campus is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! It is perfect for walking across to class or work and just relaxing. The dorms are nice as far as dorms are concerned. I have just finished my freshman year but, thus far, I am absolutely loving Oakland University!
Am learning a lot I have just finished my freshman year and so far, all of the professors I have had have been excellent! They are all willing to help you out when you need it and they do not penalize you for needing help! They are all exquisite people who are very dedicated to their professions!

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Apply for Financial Aid early so you can be sure it is set before classes start. You dont want anything to hold you back from starting on your education.
Am learning a lot Not only is Oakland a University, but the class sizes are small and you can build great relationships with your instructors. It really allows you to feel comfortable and learn a tremendous amount.

Tips for prospective students take classes that have SI's attached... they are Supplemental Instruction
Bang for the buck Not satisfied at all with this school financial aid office. I was told that If you do not have the money you will not be allowed to attend They did not offer any guidance on seeking out other forms of aid nor did they help with seeking scholarships
Am enjoying being here Oakland has a beautiful campus

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I have not picked a major yet but I know that the academic advisers will help anyone to find the right career for you. OU has some great programs and if they have the major you want to go into ,chose OU. You have to be willing to work hard, but you can also get involved into other things outside of the academics.
Tips for prospective students Never push your assignments, homework or studying back until the day before its due. Most professors will give you a detailed syllabus so you will always have enough time to get done what needs to be done. And if you struggle go to the Academic Skills Center and the tutors will help you understand the material.
Bang for the buck College will always be somewhat expensive but I think that what you are getting for your money at OU is definitely worth it. There is free tutoring,a recreational building, you get free prints every semester and they have an awesome library as well.
Am enjoying being here OU's campus is awesome, and there is so much more to do other than just going to your classes. They have the recreational building where you can work out for free and they also have a lot of groups as well as sororities/fraternities!
Am learning a lot Most of the professors are very helpful and show interest to get you the best possible grade. They offer free tutoring which helps a lot when you struggle in a class or if you just want to make sure that you are understanding the material.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Oakland is among the safest schools in Michigan with its own police department and academy located on the campus grounds. Oakland also offers blue light protection polls, which has an emergency button that students can press when they are in need of assistant any where on campus. Oakland is also a dry campus meaning we do not allow alcohol on campus grounds. This is just some of many ways that the school is equipped for safety and also keeping the students safe is one of Oakland's biggest priorities.
Greek Life Greek life is an up and coming excitement at Oakland University. Students can join the many different Greek life at Oakland starting from academic sororities to sisterhood sororities.
Clubs and Activities Over 200 student activities and organizations starting from Alternative spring breaks, where you can travel with other students to different states and help with the National relief foundation, or a cultural group such as African students association. This group sets out to educate students on what is going on in Africa and how others can help.
Great for these types of students Oakland is great for any type of students to attend. Whether your a relaxed focused student, or a free laid back student, Oakland is the school for you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One of the most interesting places on Oakland grounds is the Meadow Brook machine, which is where we have our Homecoming dance and other fun activities. It is also a historic location and museum that the people of Michigan love to visit.
Bang for the buck Oakland is a very affordable school, that is the number one reason i chose Oakland. Students at Oakland like to call the school Oakfree. This is because Oakland loves to give things out to students, including free parking, free application for entry, no extra lab fees and many scholarships to fit your academic needs and expenses.
What to do for fun There are many things to do for fun at Oakland, including volley ball, soccer, and shopping. Oakland is down the street from one of the biggest outlet malls in Michigan, also known as Great lakes crossing. Oakland has many ways to keep you involved in the school, including inter-mural sports and activities ranging from Wii bowling, basketball, fencing and so much more. Our game room offers pool, table tennis, X-box, play station and more.
Food and Dining Oakland has many food options from Mongolian BBQ to home style cooking. Oakland is also the only place in Michigan where you can get chick-fil-a. Oakland also offers forth meal for those who love to eat late at night.
Dorm Life Dorm life is exciting, mainly because you are able to chose who you want to room with. The dorms are also very spacious and offer many activities for students to do during there stay on campus. Campus life is also something that many students want to experience, and Oakland university offers it all.
Academic Rigor Oakland University has a strict criteria on academics depending on what your area of study is. They offer man undergraduate and graduate degrees, that will help any student reach there goal, and career path in life.
Tips for prospective students Get involved with at least one of the over 200 student organizations. This will give you the best experience of college life. Interact with your teacher and get to know them so you are able to gain knowledge of how to apply for graduate school, and possible jobs at the school.
In three sentences Oakland University is an involved and exciting school with so much to offer students. A place to learn and explore many options of career choices. A place to meet life long friends.

Categories Comments Campus Safety This is seriously the safest campus I have ever seen. They have security at every housing building from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and during those times you can't get in unless you live on campus or are being personally signed in by a resident. There are alarms stationed by nearly every building, which the OU Police will respond to within 30 seconds if pushed. You must swipe your student card to enter the elevator or stairs in the dorms, no matter what time of day it is. It can be a hassle, but you definitely feel safe.
Greek Life Pretty active. I don't participate myself, but I have a lot of friends who do and say they enjoy it. It's easy to get involved with, so check it out!
Clubs and Activities I haven't joined any clubs myself but I hear about others and from what I hear they're pretty fun. I hang out with the Accappella club sometimes, and they're just a riot. There's a club for just about everything, and if there isn't, it's easy to make. Anyone can help you with that.
Great for these types of students Quiet, relaxed, and a sort of easy-going social person would do well here. If you want a beautiful campus, security, and peace and quiet, Oakland is the place to come. No one gets hurt, no one really has any trouble, and the academic program is pretty good for what you're paying.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Well, there's the Meadowbrook Mansion, which is gorgeous, and the Meadowbrook Hall Theater, which is fantastic! They have a Meadowbrook Ball in the Mansion every year, it's gorgeous, and I actually attended a concert at the Hall. Music people should definitely check that out, it was cool.
Bang for the buck I'm not sure what this means. I do have to say, if you're a raging party animal, don't come to Oakland. I love Oakland so much because there's really no partying; it's a very safe, quiet, laid-back campus. There's a lot surrounding it, but it still reminds me of being home in the country. You can find people, but you can also avoid them if you want, which I like.
What to do for fun I personally just stayed in the dorms and hung out with my friends; there are always people around and always some shenanigan or another to come up with. There are a lot of other things in the area as well, however. Clubs, restaurants, strip malls. Downtown Rochester is a nice place, and there is also Great Lakes Crossing just ten minutes away. The Palace of Auburn Hills is next door, and The Crofoot (awesome venue!) is close by too. The housing staff also throws a lot of events for the on-campus students that are pretty fun.
Food and Dining The food isn't bad for college fare - definitely a step up from high school food. It gets old after a while, though, and I would definitely recommend getting your own snacks and simple meals to keep in the dorm. Sometimes it's a hassle leaving to walk to the cafeteria. It's a nice place to eat, though, and the staff members are the cutest, friendliest things ever.
Dorm Life The dorms seem a little scary at first but you soon get pretty comfortable in them. Every RA (Resident Assistant) I met was responsible and very fun. I became close friends with not only my RA but others as well. Everyone takes good care of each other, no matter who they are. The housing and floor activities are a ton of fun too! You can win a lot of cool prizes and awards!
Academic Rigor All of the professors I had were good at what they did, and took their teaching seriously. It was a big but pleasant change from high school. It's mostly up to you, the student, to attend classes and apply yourself, but the staff really works hard to make sure you get your money's worth.
Tips for prospective students My main tip is to NOT be pessimistic. Don't expect to have a bad time or experience. Be completely open and positive, and you'll have the most amazing time in the world. And most importantly, don't be afraid to get out there both academically and socially! There are tons of great opportunities!
In three sentences Oakland University is a very fun, healthy place to be. The campus is beautiful and peaceful, the staff and students are very friendly and open, and the different academic and extracurricular opportunities are fantastic. I not only learned a great deal inside the classroom, but outside the classroom as well, and that made my college experience a lot more enjoyable.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students i believe oakland is suited to a student who would like to be near major roads and close to but not apart of cities. it is a fairly inexpensive university, that does not have any hidden fees such as having to pay for parking or using the recreation center.
Tips for prospective students decide what kind of school you would like to go to, and then apply to schools very similar to what you want from a college. doing extra curricular activities in high school is good, but don't do so many that you become overly stressed. what is most important is finding what you are passionate about and then focusing on that aspect, and showing the admissions office what you are passionate about through your actions.
Bang for the buck overall, oakland is less expensive than michigan and michigan state, however, if you are really looking to save money, i would suggest enrolling in a community college and taking a small handful of general education classes, and making sure they will transfer to the college you wish to go to. that is if you wish to finish your degree at a university. i did get quite a bit of scholarship money from the school, but still ended up having to take out government student loans.
Will enjoy being here I personally think the campus is beautiful, and they have no hidden fees, so the rec center, and parking are included in your tuition.
Academic Rigor depending on which professor and which class you take there is a lot of differences. some professors assign a lot of work and homework, and depending on the subject those classes are usually more difficult. in classes where you get almost no outside of class work, also, depending on the subject and your personal difficulty with it, those ones are usually easier. however, either way i feel like i learn a lot in my classes.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you're a drama student, I think you'd like Varner Hall and Meadowbrooke theater.
Tips for prospective students It doesn't matter if you don't what major you want. OU let's you take general education classes during your stay.
Bang for the buck Financial advisers are there to help you with loans and work study programs.
Will enjoy being here Oakland University has many extra curricular activities, great cafes and respectable sports teams. They even have their own radio station, for Pete's sake!
Will learn a lot Oakland University has a great library. They'll help you find what you need even if they have to borrow it from somewhere else.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This place is great for students that are way on top of organization and don't mind speaking up if something is out of whack.
Tips for prospective students Brace yourselves. You're in for quite a road. If you go see an adviser, learn their name and ask to see them every time you go, and TAKE NOTES. None of the advisers are on the same page.
Bang for the buck Definitely one of the cheaper universities around, but I don't feel that I'm getting very much quality for the money I'm paying.
Am enjoying being here I could do without it.
Am learning a lot As a psych major, I found that a lot of the same information tends to be repeated in class after class after class. I've found it pretty hard to pay attention and get enthused about classes that would otherwise be awesome because of this. Maybe this is the same everywhere, but I can't say I'm a fan.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Oakland has a little bit of everything, but if you are looking to be in an engineering field or nursing, this is the place to be!
Tips for prospective students Don't take your homework for granted. Do all of it, no matter how tedious! When it comes for exam time, you will be grateful for all the extra points you can get. A few points can really make or break whether you pass the class or not.
Bang for the buck The tuition for Oakland is relatively cheap, and they are very lenient with scholarships. If you make it to the honors college, you have the chance to get a full full ride scholarship, meaning you get tuition AND housing paid in full.
Am enjoying being here The campus is absolutely gorgeous, especially in the fall. The average class size is about 30 students, and the lectures are around 200. All of my professors know me by name, and I have several opportunities to get help and tutoring if I am having trouble. The environment is so friendly here! People are always inviting me to do things with them, and it really helped me make friends fast.
Am learning a lot This university is not one to brushed off as mediocre by any means. I am only a freshman, but I am taking 18 credits, and I am always working to make sure I don't fall behind in my classes. I wouldn't say Oakland is extremely difficult, but I won't say it's easy either. I am challenged in all of my classes in different ways, particularly in the math department. In case you weren't aware, Oakland has a reputation of having a math department that is worthy of U of M. It is not to be taken lightly, but by golly, it makes you work for your grade!

Categories Comments What to do for fun Going to basketball game's: really good men's basketball team, pig roast, socializing with friend in between breaks, cafe, and organizations.
Academic Rigor A lot of academics going on.
Tips for prospective students Freshman: take general requirements first and also try to take some classes at a community college also. Classes are smaller and cost is affordable. Undergrads stay focus on your studies and touch base everyday on your books.
In three sentences Oakland's finical aid office is very slow at processing your information and you have to be on top of your stuff. Classes are worth taking, they are very interesting. Campus is beautiful and very active.

Categories Comments Campus Safety ou helps you in dorms. if your car is out of gas or if you are alone at night walking on campus, they will find you and escort you to your next location.
Bang for the buck there is a shuttle bus that will take you around campus every 20 minutes.
What to do for fun there are talent shows, free food, celebrities come for lectures, concerts, sports and the library is open 24 hours for the crammers.
Food and Dining you have many options.

Categories Comments Campus Safety you always see ou cop cars patrolling the campus, there are emergency phones placed in convenient places. lots of light at night, and there's usually a lot of people around. not a lot of theft goes on.
Greek Life there are sixteen sororities and fraternities on campus that are divided into four councils.
Clubs and Activities there's quite a selection of clubs and activities to join at oakland. every day there's a few clubs sitting around the eatery, trying to get new members, as well as posters, flyers and banners. it's almost impossible not to get involved in at least one.
Great for these types of students students who are willing to work hard, pay attention in class, study hard, and are determined. not for people who want to sleep through class and expect to get a good grade.
Bang for the buck newer buildings, manicured grounds, excellent professors. it's all around a great school for an affordable price.
What to do for fun hang out with friends on campus, grab a bite to eat or a drink, hang out in the dorms, watch a film. the possibilities are endless. (it's mostly a commuter university, though you can live on campus). there are some great parties thrown
Food and Dining great selection of food and drink! subway, ect.
Dorm Life i don't know, i'm a commuter. from what i hear, living in the dorms is a fun way to get to know people and they're very nice.
Academic Rigor it's harder than the private college i have previously attended, but i'm sure it's not as hard as some other universities/colleges
Tips for prospective students if you don't get something in class, and don't want to ask in front of the whole class, make sure to go and get extra help from professors during their office hours. they're more than willing to help in most situations.
In three sentences it's a very well thought out campus, that is easy to reach and easy to get around. newer buildings, great faculty members, good food and drink. overall a great place to be, i'm learning more here than at a private college.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I feel safe enough to go for a run outside on campus late at night or even if I'm walking back from the library at night I feel safe. The campus is very well lit at night.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The night before the first day of classes there is a night walk to the Mansion. You walk there with your new friends and then can tour the mansion at night. Very cool! Plus they have a DJ outside the mansion.
What to do for fun Join an intramural sports team. Attend fitness classes in their recreational facility. Go to campus events.

Dorm Life Plenty of activities to do. You meet great people. Saves time finding parking spots.

Categories Comments Campus Safety our campus is monitored very well. there are poles almost near each building in the parking lots and nears dark areas with an emergency button so if you don't feel safe the police will be there asap, they ride around the campus all day and night so they are always right.

Clubs and Activities There are over 100 different clubs and organizations that are on campus that you can join
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every year when our basketball team plays this one team they always try and put their jersey on our grizz statue, so we have a event called gaurd the grizz when you stand outside and gausd the grizz and there is music , food , drinks etc.
What to do for fun Oakland is not really a party school, its more about academics, but you can make fun. There are always events going on , trips that are cheap that you can go on. Dorm Life The dorm life is fun , if you participate with the activities that they have going on . you need to be social in college because school can stress you out and talking to someone who is going through the same-thing , dorm mates is very helpful.
Academic Rigor The teachers here are very dedicated and they are always trying to help you and try to make sure you do the best you can. majority of the classes that i have taken have taught me something and pushed me to learn and work hard

Bang for the buck Cost is up there with U of M. Quality of eduction is not. Respect for the school is not.
What to do for fun The school is located in metro Detroit so if you want to drive a little you can find almost anything.
Food and Dining There are a few food opportunities. Not enough seating.
Academic Rigor Most of my classes have been easy for me. Some low level classes are unnecessarily difficult. Tutors are available.
Tips for prospective students This is a commuter school so parking can be a challenge. You will receive a reasonable education, but the cost is right up there with some of the best schools like U of M.
In three sentences Oakland U is an OK school. Advisors could be better. Professors could be better.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Oakland is a very safe place to go to school. Sometimes almost too safe lol. There is an on campus police station, that regularly sends out patrol cars lurking around campus to make sure everything is safe and sound. The police can get a little edgy, because there isn't much unusual activity. So they can be a little strict.
Greek Life To sum it up in one word... EXTRAORDINARY.
Clubs and Activities I joined the men's soccer club, and it was a blast. It was a great way to make new friends around a sport. Traveling to different colleges was a good experience and a get away from academics. There are tons a clubs to join from, Fencing to Rugby. Join one and you will have a blast!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are some trails near the campus that are a great location for runners and walkers. Take a look at the rec center and sports fields. They are beautiful works of art.
What to do for fun Joining an intramural sports team will enhance your skills while having fun, and not dealing with the pressure of a student athlete. Join a frat and go to campus gatherings. FREE food usually appears to campus-wide events.
Food and Dining The food is good, but a little pricey. I would recommend bringing a sack lunch now and then.
Dorm Life I did not live in the dorms. I commuted, so I will not know how the experience will be, but I'm sure it would be a good one.
Academic Rigor A well established criteria in all studies.
Tips for prospective students Always check the student evaluations of professors. They can be helpful. E-mail the professors, if possible, to check and see exactly what books will be used during the course. Join a frat or club to relieve some stress from a mentally draining week, and have some fun!
In three sentences Oakland University would be a top level Business and Engineering school in the state. It is a friendly environment, with beautiful facilities, and is currently building a new medical building. You will learn under qualified and friendly professors.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are several clubs and organizations to get involved in that will keep you busy. Once a week a party goes to clubs for College Night, and there are buses that take students to the shopping centers that are not too far from the school.
Food and Dining I'd say their selection of food is good. Different things are served each day, and there are four possible meals a day.
Dorm Life Dorm life is pretty nice, the dorms are nice in size, there's adequate closet space for each resident, and the on-campus policies are bearable.
Academic Rigor Course work is nowhere near easy, you must do all work given, make sure you read directions carefully because they can cost you part of your grade. All classes should ave an equal amount of study time, homework is designed for students to spend time on, make sure you take advantage of the many academic services offered.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to get or keep your GPA up, apply early, make sure you exercise ALL study tips given by professors! No matter what you've heard -college is nothing like high school or how it is portrayed on television! You must stay on top of your studying!
In three sentences Very good academic school, hard to get off track, very professional professors, comfortable housing, warm and friendly atmosphere.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus crime, in general, has gone down tremendously over the years with the help of the Oakland University Police Department. Larceny crimes have slightly increased, but the OUPD has recently installed over 1 million dollars worth of new cameras and safety features in order to ensure the safety of the students, staff, and visitors on campus. The police department is also very friendly and actively present on campus.
Clubs and Activities The clubs and activities at Oakland University are phenomenal and there are a plethora of options, but clubs may be hard to find or contact. Pay attention during orientation, because they give out many different clubs and activity opportunities. Also, many different clubs will have tables set up in the Oakland Center, which is always a good place to look if you are planning to get involved.
Great for these types of students It is great for students that want to find a quality, but non-expensive education. If you plan on focusing on your academics and not having a whole lot of extra noise to bother you, this would be the perfect college for you.
Bang for the buck Oakland University was actually my second choice college, but upon receiving my estimated tuition costs, OU was definitely my first choice. There are so many scholarships available that Oakland will give to you, and as a commuter or on-campus student, it is an offer that is very hard to pass up.
What to do for fun As long as you get involved in the different clubs and services that the Student Congress offers, you won't have time to be bored. There also is numerous recreational sports teams available to join, which you can learn more about by visiting the Rec. Center.
Food and Dining From the Oakland Center to the dining halls, the food on the Oakland University campus is surprisingly good. You have the cafe style breakfast, lunch and dinners, but in the Oakland Center, there is also a Subway, Papa Johns and Chik-Fil-A available.
Dorm Life I personally commute, but I hear that the dorm life is excellent. Since it is a large commuter school, the dorm life focuses on bringing the students that live on campus closer together and involve as many off-campus students as possible.
Academic Rigor Some classes are very simple depending on the prior knowledge you have going into a course, and other classes will put your knowledge and studying to the test. As long as you focus in classes and do the assignments, you can learn so much from all of your classes.
Tips for prospective students Make sure, if you commute, you get to campus early. Parking is insane and will only become more difficult with the completion of the new science building. Also, get to know your teachers. The more they see and hear from you, the more they realize that you care about the grade you receive.
In three sentences Overall, Oakland University is a good college to attend. Many people take for granted the friendliness and accessibility of the teachers, the beautiful campus and the wide array of classes. As long as you don't mind a slight struggle for a parking spot, it is a wonderful college.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Oakland University is one of the most affordable universities around, being about $10,000 for a full year of education is a very well rounded price for the school that Oakland University has become. The fact that there is a state of the art medical school located on campus shows that the university if managing their money well, expanding but not throwing the students under the bus with overwhelming tuition fees.
What to do for fun Oakland University have more than enough to do for fun, one can enjoy the beautiful trails that are on the outskirts of campus or have some fun on one the best golf courses in America which is located on campus. Enjoy sports? Oakland University has many Division 1 sports teams such as the basketball team. If the student is more of an art person, Oakland University has its own gallery with a variety of great art. Nonetheless there is more than enough to enjoy on campus.
Food and Dining There are not many places to eat on campus, however there is a large cafe area where students get together to eat meals or grab a snack. The food and dining on campus include pizza, subway and a variety of coffee shops like star bucks. There are many places to dine out walking distance from the campus such as Palm Palace and fast food places like McDonald's.
Dorm Life Dorm life? I donâ??t know where to start about the dorm life at Oakland University. There is literally, always, something going on. There is no moment when one will be bored if he/she lives on campus. Midnight gaming in the halls, taking walks on the large trails of Oakland before sunrise or even going for a dive in the pond on a sunny day. There are an extensive amount of dorms for all incoming freshman who wish to live on campus and upperclassmen are granted access to apartments which are very luxurious for a campus student.
Academic Rigor The academics at Oakland University are outstanding, with an uncountable number of majors and courses offered, there's much to do. Each class is unique and your learn something different. I would rate all the professors I have had so far to be very caring of their class and interested in what they teach. The higher and more advanced classes a student takes he will realize that the work load is dramatically increased and it begins to be time consuming but not life overtaking.
Tips for prospective students If you intend to go to Oakland University there are 3 main reasons why it will be beneficial for you. Firstly, it is affordable, my best tip would be that if a student wants to save money, Oakland University offers many scholarships and is about $10,000 total for the entire year if a student takes 16 credits each semester. Secondly, the environment is a great place to be, safe, friendly, and motivating. It is easy to be a responsible student as well as have fun, all one needs to do is sit in the library for 30 minutes and he/she will be tempted to study; itâ??s the magic of OU. Thirdly, a tip I would give to all prospective students is to take it easy. No need to start stressing over your GPA and extracurricular activities. The first semester at college will be a noticeable shift and somewhat difficult to adjust to but once the second semester starts it becomes much easier, work hard in your classes and try to make many friends, if a student is a social person, he/she will join many clubs and activities by the end of freshman year without even realizing.
In three sentences Oakland University has a large campus along with a very unique group of students. Anything a person could think of doing on a college campus can be found at Oakland University from Game rooms and frat houses to a beautiful pond in the middle of campus where you can take a swim.

Bang for the buck They have free food on campus 5 out of 7 days. Always having events with free things
What to do for fun Basketball games. Always something going on on campus where you get a free tshirt and food.
Food and Dining Food is good at first, but gets pretty old. A lot of options to chose from though.
Dorm Life Great dorms. Many people go home on the weekends. Make a lot of friends living in the dorms.
Academic Rigor Differs between professors.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There's the Night Watch program for the dorms where residents must swipe their student ID to get into the buildings. They have a strict guest policy. No more than two guests per night and each guest can only stay two consecutive nights. The OUPD seems to crack down on every kind of social gathering in the dorms.
Greek Life I LOVE Oakland's Greek life!! I would strongly encourage any student to go Greek, especially commuters. It's a great way to meet and connect with other students, improve your GPA, give back, network, and to have fun! Greek life at Oakland is unique since we aren't a big school. We have a united Greek system with no rivalries and support for fellow Greek organizations.
Clubs and Activities There are over 200 organizations and a wide variety of clubs to get involved in. There's a lot of support from the faculty and staff plus it looks great on a resume.
Great for these types of students Studious, introverted, self-directed, those who are able to make their own fun
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are lots of trails through the woods to explore as well as a golf course and a bonfire pit
Bang for the buck Any college will be expensive but OU has been affordable and you get a lot for the price! Your tuition dollars cover everything from parking to a gym membership. All fees are included in tuition and you get access to lots of great on-campus resources such as the Academic Skills Center, the Advising Resource Center, and Career Services.
What to do for fun There is a Bike Share program where the school funds bikes for students to ride around campus. There are lots of events sponsored by the Residence Hall Association such as sibling weekend and a haunted house in October.
Food and Dining I'm guessing the food isn't great because OU isn't a residence school. There is one cafeteria in Vandenberg Hall and one food court in the Oakland Center. The hours are good for commuters but the food places close by 6:30 or 7 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The food quality is great when there's an orientation group or a tour coming through but otherwise it's nothing desirable. They offer very limited vegetarian and vegan options.
Dorm Life As with any college, the dorms are small and I would recommend rooming with someone you know. There are mandatory floor and building meetings each month. It's very tame and would work well for a student who doesn't like to party. The student on-campus apartments are very nice and spacious but not every student is eligible to live there.
Academic Rigor I believe that you get out of your education what you put into it. Oakland challenged me academically during my first year. I can't say how it compares to other colleges but I can tell you I was surprised by how much harder it was than I thought it would be! My advice is to develop good study habits and stick by them.
Tips for prospective students Learn how to make your own fun and realize that college involves a lot of hard work both inside and outside the classroom. Staying organized is key! You will be responsible for doing your laundry, eating healthy, staying in shape, keeping a clean room, and working out roommate issues all on top of your academic responsibilities.
In three sentences Although my first-year college experience was nothing like I expected it to be, it has been fulfilling and worthwhile. There are lots of great resources on Oakland's beautiful campus to help improve your college experience. It is recognized as a commuter school but there are good reasons to live on campus.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are hardly any incidences, but every year or two I have heard of some shady characters walking on campus.
Greek Life I am not part of it but I hear it is nice.
Clubs and Activities The campus is right near downtown Rochester so any one that wants to get a lunch or a dinner and a drink is very close to a nice little city
Great for these types of students Students that want to be serious academically but can easily get distracted.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus has lots of woods with trails, Frisbee golf, and two very nice golf courses, and deer are everywhere
Bang for the buck Great school for academics and it is close to home for most people because it is a commuters school.
What to do for fun The campus is extremely beautiful, it even has two very nice golf courses. Also there are hammocks and bikes spread through out the campus for any one to use.
Food and Dining Not much diversity for food, and there is only one food court or center.
Dorm Life I never experienced the dorm life but I heard that it wasn't anything special
Academic Rigor Not the hardest school, but there are some teachers that will really make you learn the material
Tips for prospective students Go to class, study first, and then have fun.
In three sentences In terms of class size it is a good school, because classes are not very big. There are some very good teachers here as well but there are also some not so great teachers. It is an easy school to stay focused at because there is not much partying to distract students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have always felt so safe on campus, even when walking to my car late at night. There are emergency posts all around campus, you can use them to make a call or sound an alarm if needed.
Greek Life The Greek life here involves a lot of community service and fundraisers. I always see people doing these things on campus, and have some friends in sororities. They all love being a part of the Greek Life.
Clubs and Activities There is a club for just about everyone at Oakland, so you can always get involved if you want to.
Great for these types of students If you are self-motivated and like to attend class and then go on with your day, this is a good school. I like being able to go about my day, go to work, and live in my own apartment, and just have to go to the school when I have class. It never feels odd to sit alone and study, and there are plenty of places to gather for group study or lunch.
Bang for the buck Tuition rates have risen out of control since I started here 4 years ago. I started off with scholarships and was able to pay cash for the rest of my tuition, but now I need to take out loans. For the amount of money I am paying, I wish I was going away to school.
What to do for fun There is a game room in the bottom of the Oakland Center, the campus has a golf course, and plays are put on in the theater that you may attend. In addition to this, Oakland tries to put on a variety of events for students to go to.
Food and Dining There is a good selection of things to eat in the food court, and you can find food at most places across campus. There are always healthy options. There are several coffee places that serve pretty good drinks. If you feel like heading off campus, there are about a dozen restaurants within a few miles of the college.
Dorm Life I have not lived in the dorms; most people I know live in apartments in the area.
Academic Rigor I enjoy challenging classes and I have felt that I have been challenged in most of my classes. There is an Honors college here as well, which I was a part of. I have never felt that I got a grade I did not earn, but I have never had a class that I could not pass.
Tips for prospective students Stay organized, because the offices here certainly don't. Meet with counselors often and ahead of schedule because they take a long time to get back to you and this can be a disadvantage. Their general education and degree programs are very specific, so be careful that the classes you take will count towards something or you will waste a lot of money. If you want to meet people, get involved, because people in the classes mostly come to class and leave directly after, so it's hard to socialize sometimes.
In three sentences This is a good school for those who wish to commute instead of going away. The campus is very nice and there is great availability for classes. However, it is a little expensive and it can be difficult to deal with administration here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I felt very safe walking to and from buildings, and have never had a problem with theft or violence.
Greek Life Greek life is a lot of fun, and was one of the ways I ended up having a social life at OU. Although I never joined a sorority, there are many girls I befriended by going through recruitment and there is a good relationship between the fraternities and sororities.
Clubs and Activities I never joined any. There is a wide variety of clubs and activities to join, though.
Great for these types of students Students who really want to focus on their education would be perfect at OU.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Apparently some buildings are haunted.
Bang for the buck Oakland University is very affordable and offers a good education depending on one's major.
What to do for fun Great Lakes Crossing is ten minutes away! As a girl, this was incredibly helpful especially when I had long breaks between my classes.
Food and Dining Absolutely delicious. There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan options also.
Dorm Life I wouldn't know. I commuted. From what I heard it was a good experience.
Academic Rigor I never had any problems with my classes being difficult. My teachers worked with me and my schedule.
Tips for prospective students Join a student organization. Please.
In three sentences It was really hard as a commuter because I did not join a greek system or any other student organizations. A lot of people go to classes, and then go home. The teachers are really nice, though, and I felt as though I was part of something during classroom discussions.

Great for these types of students Acacdemically challenged students will love Oakland University.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Dodge Mansion (Meadowbrook Hall) is a beautiful piece of history located on campus. There is also the original farmhouse. With OU being the biggest campus in the state of Michigan, it holds a lot of its history and land with it while having its buildings mostly concentrated in a central location.
Bang for the buck Oakland University does not add on extra fees in addition to tuition. Tuition is one of the lowest in the state of Michigan!
What to do for fun There are several on-campus activities and clubs to participate in. The Rochester area has near-by shopping, movies, and entertainment.
Academic Rigor Oakland University has proven to be a challenging institution. Professors are very knowledgeable.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Many people like to walk to the mansion at odd hours in the morning. It gets you nervous and on your toes because it's dark and a tad bit spooky, but the view of the sun rise is amazing :)
What to do for fun Attend the games, or seek out clubs, they are very fun. But if that's not your thing, Great Lakes mall is the largest mall in Michigan, and it's only ten minutes away!
Tips for prospective students Good parking spaces are hard to find after ten o'clock am, so I would suggest getting there early and either hanging out in the library or the Oakland center, or even better living on campus. Also, by your books online at Amazon, or similar sites, as books can be very expensive.
In three sentences Oakland University is very accommodating for it's students, from commuters to oncampus-ers, there is something for everyone. Academic Rigor Classes at Oakland can be tough, but there are always resources such as tutors and the Writing Center to help you keep a high GPA.

The student apartments has the type of living as an actual apartment with 2 to 4 bedrooms with open kitchen, 2 bath rooms that you will only share with 2 person if you're in a 4 bedroom apartment. Quiet atmosphere.
Academic Rigor Some of the general education courses such as English Lit, History, and the Math courses are rigorous. OU provides services such as writing assistance and tutoring programs to help you further to make sure that if it is a presentation, term paper or report you will earn the highest grade.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is very well lit, it has the classic trouble buttons everywhere, and our campus is one of the few in Michigan where it's cops have legit guns.
Greek Life Many Greek life opportunities. For being a small school we have five sororities and six fraternities.
Clubs and Activities Still haven't participated in clubs. But there are multiple clubs including a race car club.
Great for these types of students Students that don't want to be in a giant school. Students that don't mind the same food every other week.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every Tuesday a group of students participate in LARPing, which is pretty entertaining to watch.
Bang for the buck For me it was because I got good scholarship money. But for people who didn't it is a matter of opinion. You could go to a really big school like U of M for the price or a smaller school. It's a matter of taste.
What to do for fun Hang with friends. Play pool or video games in the game room. Run around screaming TACO. Whatever floats your boat.
Food and Dining Nothing special but it could be worse.
Dorm Life Living on campus is a fun experience. You get to meet many cool people. However, there is very little chance to get to sleep before midnight.
Academic Rigor The classes are a step above high school but not insanely taxing.
Tips for prospective students Stay on campus your first year. Schedule classes asap. Free parking but really hard to find spots.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are sports rec. teams you can joins, different clubs suited to your interests, and there is a greek community at Oakland as well.
Food and Dining There are lots of places to eat on campus. Food is a little bit expensive, but OU does offer meal plans.
Dorm Life I have no experienced dorm life but several of my friends have lived in the dorms. It is not as fun as other schools to be honest. I believe it's better to live in the student apartments.
Academic Rigor Classes continually challenge you. Tests are a fair assessment of what you have learned not only inside of class but outside of class studying on your own time.
Tips for prospective students Get involved on campus as much as you can. Don't just become a commuter, enjoy what the campus has to offer. Above all else, stay on top of your studies.

Food and Dining The cafeteria is a wide range or meals and are great. The Bear Cafe has some great pastries and lattes.
Dorm Life The Oakland Center is a great place to make new friends and blow some steam.
Academic Rigor If you stay on top of your work you will be fine, try not to get behind, and be prepared to to a lot of prep time outside of class.
Tips for prospective students If you commute or plan on driving to class, make sure to get there early, and wear comfortable shoes because you may have to do some hiking. If you are weight-listed for a class, don't give up, go to that class and get an okay from the teacher, 9 time out of 10 you will get into the class.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There are cops on campus all the time! They only ever give out parking tickets.
Greek Life As a sorority sister, I give OU top marks in this category! Greek life at OU is not stereotypical at all! It's a great way to meet lots of people, develop a network of friends, keep an active social life, and many leadership opportunities are available.
Clubs and Activities Greek life, student congress, the Gender and Sexuality Center, our radio station, and many free club sports and work out classes are available! Also, there is a FREE rec center, a 24-hour library, and a state-of-the-art game room.
Great for these types of students Great for students looking to get involved on campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Don't step on the Sail patio in front of the Oakland Center, or you'll fail your next test!
Bang for the buck This school costs just as much as many other larger state schools, but without the recognizable name.
What to do for fun Sorority and fraternity life is great at OU, not at all stereotypical! There are plenty of ways for students to get involved on campus.
Tips for prospective students Get to campus early to find parking. Look up professors on Rate My Professor before class (most are great, but there are a few rotten ones). Get involved, or your time at Oakland will be lonely.
In three sentences Beautiful campus, with many social involvement opportunities. Money is ill-spent by the school. Adequate parking at a largely commuter school should be top priority-THEN they can pour money into making all of the buildings eco-friendly!

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have never heard of any issue with campus safety. There are always campus police hanging around and emergency call stations scattered throughout the campus.
Clubs and Activities Tons of clubs of all different kinds. There's literally something for everyone.
Great for these types of students Undecided students who want to have every major right at their fingertips, so when they do decide their plans they won't need to transfer. Also great for students looking to save money but still get a rigorous university experience.
Bang for the buck You get a wide variety of majors just like a larger university, but I think the tuition rate is rather cheap. My first year was entirely covered by financial aid, and even if it wasn't, I still wouldn't have had a huge problem covering the cost.
Food and Dining Definitely enough food options for me. One of the residential halls has an all-you-can-eat buffet that is part of meal plans, or costs 7 or 8 dollars if you don't have a meal plan. There is a food court in the Oakland Center with Subway, Papa John's, a little soup place, and the only Chick-Fil-A in Michigan. Coffee shops in the cafe and also in the library. There are a lot of options off campus, literally right across the street.
Dorm Life I'm a commuter student but my friend is staying in a dorm and I think it's rather nice. A group of five girls in two bedrooms share one bathroom, and there is sufficient closet space for them. Big windows let in a lot of light.
Academic Rigor All of the professors I have had so far have been rigorous but definitely very clear and willing to help their students excel. If you struggle with the material in class, attend office hours. If you don't, you should have no problem on exams.

Categories Comments Campus Safety SUCH A SAFE CAMPUS. I have never felt so safe walking from building to building at night. There are police everywhere and stations where you can immediately contact them.
Greek Life Im not too sure about their Greek Life because I don't live on campus
Clubs and Activities You name the club and Oakland has it. So may things to get involved in i encourage everyone to do so!
Great for these types of students It is absolutely wonderful for these types of students. I do not know anyone who doesn't like it here!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Always on my free time I go sit on this bench right in front of this large pond and I just relax and collect my thoughts. Tons of people come around here and its just such a nice spot for people to just let go.
Bang for the buck For the amount of money it costs to attend college i definitely think it is worth it. Not most Universities are so close knit as Oakland and it really makes a difference in the environment.
What to do for fun There are so many groups on campus that anyone can get involved in and you can always go to the rec center and have some fun there, may different activities are offered.
Food and Dining The OC is amazing, the food is delicious and you can never go wrong because you have so many wonderful options. Very modern and always a lot of people around! Also Vandenberg residence hall cafeteria is GREAT! Always a new selection everyday and its all you can eat!!!
Dorm Life Unfortunately I do not live on campus and I regret every second of it. I think I would've loved the college experience so much more if I lived there because the campus is beautiful and I had stayed in the dorms for Pom Pon camp before and it was so fun.
Academic Rigor Academically it makes students feel just like its high school. Of course there is more work involved but the fact that it is so simple to ask questions and be so open with professors really helps everything out a lot.
Tips for prospective students Stay focused on school work, it can be very easy to become distracted. Take classes that you think you would enjoy and make sure you live on campus!!!! Get involved!

Bang for the buck A great value for a university, with the same quality education or even better than higher priced schools.
What to do for fun Oakland University always has events going on, academically, or sports-related. They also have concerts and celebrity meet-and-greets, and is located close to downtown Rochester.
Food and Dining Plenty of different food to choose from on campus.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There is always something going on in Oakland Center every other week. So go check it out because they always have fun stuff there.
Food and Dining The cheapest food in OU is subway. Everything else is expensive. They do have a lot of vending machine around, but you can't rely on those when you need a whole meal. Bring your own food and save money.
Dorm Life I don't live in the dorm, however, if you do plan to do so, APPLY EARLY! There are limited dorms in OU, and a lot of them goes to international students.
Academic Rigor It depends on the amount of credits you take per semester. People who take 14-16 credits can normally work a part-time job as well.
Tips for prospective students There are a lot of opportunities in OU. So no matter what major you are, go and find for your opportunities such as National Exchange, internships, volunteers etc.
In three sentences Oakland University offers a generous amount of scholarships which makes it more affordable. The small campus size provides more classes in small sizes.

What to do for fun They're plenty of things to do, such as shopping and going to eat with friends. They're also stroll offs, which are fraternities vs. fraternities and sororities vs. sororities. Every Thursday, Tonic, a club the resides in Pontiac, bring a limo and provides transportation for 18 and older students.
Food and Dining The food is good. Oakland makes it convenient because they post some of the menu online. It's worth using, especially in the winter.
Dorm Life Dorm life, as a freshman, is great because you live in a building with all the other freshman. It's very easy to make friends. It's great for study groups as well.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is not really overdone. There's a decent amount for each class. Just stay on task.
Tips for prospective students ALWAYS study. Try studying 30 minutes at a time for each subject and repeat. The higher your grade average, the more money you'll receive.

Categories Comments Campus Safety OU has its own police department. They also have an opt-in emergency notification system via pre-recorded phone message or text message. They safety is top notch especially because calls also attract Oakland county, Rochester PD, and Auburn Hills PD in addition to OUPD... so their coverage is excellent.
Greek Life Fraternities put on a pig roast every fall semester with free food, rides, and games. Fun for families and people of all ages. Always attracts a huge crowd and lots of fun.
Clubs and Activities OU just approved a new club football team. They will play other club football teams including Miami (OH), OHio state, UM-Flint, and more. There are a lot of clubs, and many take a varsity approach... so it's the next best thing to NCAA.
What to do for fun There are TONS of things to do on campus. Art shows, dance recitals, concerts, club sports, intramurals, and fraternity/sorrority life is all available.
Food and Dining As long as you don't eat at noon, you can get food fast. There's a papa johns and subway in the Oakland Center.
Dorm Life This campus needs more dorms. More are planned to be built, but most people commute.
Academic Rigor The professors here are sticklers for formatting. Writing is very important. Tougher than other colleges I've attended.
Tips for prospective students Get to campus early to get the best parking spot. It's a commuter campus, so spend as much time on campus to hear of all the things going on. OU now has football! Make sure you go to their new team's games this fall.

Bang for the buck This is a great College if your interested in pursing a higher education. The people are nice, class sizes are that huge, and there is always something to do.
What to do for fun There are so many things to do for fun. Oakland is surrounded by many malls, outlets, and restaurants. But if you want to stay on campus you could go to the Rec-Center, or the Oakland Center to the game room.
Food and Dining We have great food here at Oakland. In the Oakland Center we have Subway, Papa Johns, and did I mention the only Chick F-lay in Michigan and etc. We also have great cooks in the cafe that are always nice and fun to chat with.

Academic Rigor I previously went to another University before attending this one and I am not going to lie Oakland is a lot easier.
Tips for prospective students I would not recommend living on campus, and it's not a very personal school. Such as I would never attend any type of sport games, but also that is your own preference. The school is weak in the spirit aspect.

Categories Comments Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Parking may seem like a pain at first, however you will just have to learn at what time can you find a spot in a certain parking spot. Also be prepared to wait for Subway if you're looking to get that for lunch. Or go to the only Chick fil a in Michigan! It's right on campus.
What to do for fun Plenty of activities in downtown Rochester, many biking trails in the Rochester area, intramural sports on campus, as well as many other activities the university sponsors.
Food and Dining Plenty of food on campus and off campus. I would recommend going to downtown Rochester.
Dorm Life Many dorms are available and many dorm activities! Currently we are building a new dorm for incoming students.
Academic Rigor With me being a Biology major I had a very rigorous class schedule. Going to college will challenge you, however the challenge that Oakland presents you with will enhance your character to prepare you for the work field.
Tips for prospective students If you're interested in coming to Oakland I would recommend getting involved into as many clubs as you can. Also make friends with upperclassman so that you can learn all about what you can do to make your experience and future the best.
In three sentences Oakland is a great school where it provides the resources and environment for good learning in a commuter area. With it being a relatively small school it allows for more students to be recognized and to engage in relationships with professors. Oakland also offers a diverse number of activities for students to be involved in to make the college experience one of the best.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Some things you can do for fun is attend the basketball games and participate in Homecoming week. One can also join the various clubs such as the Asian-American club or the Hispanic Club. Oakland University has a game room where one can play Xbox or billiards. You can even go to the Rec center to work out or attend one of the fitness classes provided.
Food and Dining The food is actually quite good; there are many different choices one can eat from such as Subway or Chick-fil-A. However, the food did get repetitive to me and I found myself bringing my own lunches during the middle of the semester.
Academic Rigor Many of the classes at Oakland University aren't too bad if you study hard. However, I know that many difficult classes seem to be the math and science departments. Being a nursing major, I can agree and say that chemistry kicked my butt.
Tips for prospective students Although there are many activities to do on campus, don't forget about your studies. Always come prepared to class and while it is easy to just skip your classes since the professors don't take attendance, I recommend that you don't. It is very easy for you to get behind if you skip even one lecture.
In three sentences Oakland University is a very friendly environment and keeps the students at ease. Attending the college, one will feel comfortable and enjoy themselves while attending the many events. And if you are struggling with your classes, they even provide tutoring and other resources to help you keep up with the class.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Next to nothing to do on campus. There is a game room in the Oakland center, but that's about it. There is some events throughout the year, but they are few and far between. Sporting events are good from time to time.
Food and Dining Some of the on campus dining options are just terrible. The company in charge of on campus dining, Chartwells, is notoriously bad. The redeeming factor is that the only Chick-fil-A in Michigan is on campus. Since most students don't live here, many don't bother to eat on campus.
Dorm Life Dorm life is alright. Most dorms are 2 people sharing a bathroom with another dorm room with 2 people. Showers aren't always reliable when one wants hot water. Not many events. There rules are a bit strict.
Academic Rigor Classes are not too bad. If you get a good teacher for some of the tougher classes, you'll be just fine. Requirements are not as demanding as other schools. You need to put in the effort to study and to do the work, but you will be graded fairly.
Tips for prospective students Apply to other schools too to see the best option in terms of affordability. Also, the math program is not as bad as everyone says. It just depends on the teacher that you get. Try to get as much money from them as you can.
In three sentences Overall, a decent school. Feels a bit like high school on a bigger stage unless you live on campus. Not very much to do on campus though and the surrounding city is more family oriented.

Dorm Life I commute to school so I do not really know about dorm life but Oakland University needs more activities to keep students that do drive to campus on campus.
Academic Rigor I think their math department is horrible and needs better professors.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you do research on your professor since their are a lot of foreign teachers there that are hard to understand or just plain bad teachers that will not be of any help to you.
In three sentences Oakland University is a nice place and all the buildings are close together so you do not have to walk for long periods of time. Lately they have been doing a lot of improvements that are making the college look better. I would probably rate Oakland University a 6.9 out of 10.
