Categories Comments Great for these types of students Hard workers.
Tips for prospective students Apply for the school scholarships such as the presidential, dean scholarships. These can pay up to half of your expences.
Bang for the buck I would say this only if you get a scholarship. If you are paying the whole 45K a year, then no it is not worth it. But just about any scholarship nets you a very managable payment, only a little higher than the state schools in the area. With the quality and people, I would say that it is definately worth it.
Am enjoying being here Ohio Northern has some of the best peole around. Everyone is friendly and the lady at the cafeteria always knows your name. The professors are always happy to help. The campus is beautiful and even though Ada is very sparse, I like being here on weekends.
Am learning a lot I am only a freshmen, so most of my classes are sort of repetitive. However, I have learned alot.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck I am in the pharmacy program, and it is one of the best in the nation. ONU has an extremely high pass percentage on the boards, which is comforting to students.
Am enjoying being here You meet tons of fun people from all over. It is a smaller campus, so everyone knows everyone, which makes it just like your hometown.
Am learning a lot The professors are extremely helpful and accomodating. Many of them leave in Ada and don't mind making time for students individually. Class sizes are around 30, which is benefitial.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students ONU is great for students who are looking for personalized education and a tight-knit campus community. The university has top-ranking pharmacy, engineering, and business colleges. There are also many unique degree programs, such as a 6-year Pharm D, Pharmaceutical Business, Forensic Accounting, and Forensic Biology.
Tips for prospective students Get involved as soon as you reach campus! Ada is a small community, but once you meet friends and participate in campus organizations, you will forget that you are surrounded by corn fields!
Bang for the buck It can't be denied that ONU is an expensive private school, but don't let that discourage you! Financial Aid is readily available and the quality degree programs are well-worth the investment.
Am enjoying being here Students, faculty, and staff at ONU are warm and welcoming from the moment you step foot on campus. No matter where you go, you will be greeted with a smile and a helping hand. The small school atmosphere makes it hard to not enjoy your time here...you are sure to run into a friend around every corner!
Am learning a lot Professors at ONU take an incredibly hands-on approach to teaching. Their dedication and support can't be ignored, helping students to achieve excellence and find their True North.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Love Ohio Northern and have never felt like I was in any danger here.
Food and Dining There is the main cafeteria hall- buffet style. There is Northern On Main and White Bear that will take your dining points. There is also McDonald's down the road, subway, East of Chicago, Taco Bell, local pizza places and Chinese food.
Dorm Life Some areas can be small but with proper organization it is fine. Make sure to get along with your roommate. Dorms are kept clean and well taken care of.
Academic Rigor Excellent programs, challenging and educational.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to bring warm clothing for the winter months. It's really cold! Ohio Northern has many extra curriculars to offer students. The first week there is Welcomefest to check out all the activities. I highly encourage you to check everything out, and try new things! Just don't spread yourself too thin.
In three sentences Great college in a small quiet town. The professors are amazing at their jobs and are very personable. I definitely recommend checking out Ohio Northern University as a choice for future students.

Great for these types of students students who like small schools.
What to do for fun you have to make your own fun in ada, but it can be done.
Food and Dining the food could be better, but it is pretty good for cafe food.
Dorm Life the more seniority you have the better living arrangements you get.
Academic Rigor the classes are tough academically, but as long as you study hard you will do fine.
Tips for prospective students be prepared for the hardwork and the extra studying you will have to do. but above all else enjoy your time here.
In three sentences the professors at onu tend to each student on a high level. they really care about the student's success. onu is a wonderful school.

Great for these types of students students who do not mind living in a rural area

Bang for the buck it's expensive here, but apply for scholarships early & get creative if you do not want to take out loans!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is very safe. Ada is a safe town and that aspect of safety comes into Ohio Northern. Both police forces make sure everyone is safe.
Greek Life We have the standard Greek life on campus but we also have other social fraternities and sororities and we have honors ones for specific majors to join. All the Greeks get along and there's no hazing when you're going through rush.
Clubs and Activities There's something for everyone here and if there isn't something here that peaks your interest you can start your own club. The various clubs and activities introduce you to all kinds of people that will soon become your very close friends.
Great for these types of students It's good for students who want to become involved with their campus and not want to be just a number. It's also good for students who think that they would be overwhelmed by a larger campus, because we are a really small school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Mud Volleyball at the beginning of the year is always fun and so is Greekapalooza. Greekapalooza is when you meet all of the sororities and fraternities and they normally have inflatibles and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.
Bang for the buck It's a tad expensive, but that's because of the electricity bill. I'd say it's well worth the money, because the financial aid office really lowers the price so you can afford to come here.
What to do for fun There's always an event being planned for students to take part in. There's also plenty of organizations to become involved with. You can also get a group of friends together and go to Lima or the Ada movie theatre or even just walk around the beautiful Ohio Northern campus.
Food and Dining Greasy, but once you dab the grease off when it's really is greasy it's really good. I feel like they close too early on the weekends, but you can spend your points at the convenience store in the Affinity apartments and get food there earlier in the week.
Dorm Life So much fun! Since it's a small college you make friends fast. The freshman dorms are beautiful and spacious (for the most part).
Academic Rigor The professor's are nice and fun. They also know what they're talking about since they are required to have work experience in their field of teaching.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you visit, some people don't realize it's in the middle of nowhere. Make sure you bring clothes for all kinds of weather, especially rainboots because it rains often.
In three sentences Campus is really nice and there's always something to do here, meaning there are always events being planned for everyone to enjoy. The professor's are amazing and they actually have experience in what they are teaching so that makes them more knowledgable about your perspective field.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There is security that is patrolling at all times. Additionally, there are emergency buttons placed throughout campus.
Clubs and Activities There are quite a few clubs on campus. At the beginning of the school year there is this an event called Welcomefest. All of the clubs and organizations are there and hand out free stuff.
Bang for the buck I would say tuition is a little high for what we get. However, many changes are being made on campus, so it is understandable that fees start to rise.
What to do for fun There are a few dining establishments in Ada. Also, Findlay and Lima are about a 20 minute drive and there is quite a bit to do in those cities. There is a bowling alley about 5 minutes away from campus, and a movie theater within walking distance.
Food and Dining There are a number of different dining options, so usually you will be able to find something that suits you. The main cafeteria serves decent food. You get 21 meal swipes a week, which can be difficult to use all of them. Additionally you get 250 points, which you can use at various locations on campus or in town.
Dorm Life There are public bathrooms for freshman, but after freshman year you have your own, or you share it with your roommate. Each year the dorm you can stay in improves. Dorms are a little small, at first, but you are by no means cramped.
Academic Rigor Classes are pretty tough often times. They are definitely more challenging than most public schools.
Tips for prospective students Work hard from the very beginning. Start freshman year off strong, the harder you work then, the easier it will be the rest of your college career.
In three sentences Ohio Northern is strong, both academically and athletically. They have pretty tough classes, but professors are fair. Professors are very passionate about their jobs, and the material they are teaching.

Great for these types of students Pharmacy
What to do for fun Hang out with friends. There are not many things to do in town.
Academic Rigor Extremely challenging classes.
In three sentences Ohio Northern is a great school to go to if you are interested in pharmacy. It is very rigorous, but this level of difficulty fosters strong future professionals. I would not attend however if not majoring in pharmacy.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is always around.
Greek Life I don't want to be biased, so I'll just say completely worth it!!
Clubs and Activities Tons to do if you look for it and actually attend! Finding friends always helps as well! :)
Great for these types of students Students who like small environments and rural areas.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Traditions: Greekapalooza! Get to meet students involved in the local sororities and fraternities on campus and see if it is something you are interested in. Locations: El Campo!
Bang for the buck Too expensive for what you get in my opinion (again, depends on major).
What to do for fun Get involved! Get involved! Get involved!
Food and Dining MAC has few very good days. Most days you have to go back 2 and 3 times to find something that tastes good enough to satisfy your appetite. And then there are days when you just make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich and call it a day.
Dorm Life The freshman dorms are small, so pack lightly. The bathrooms can be messy, but the staff does a fantastic job in cleaning them often. Making friends is fairly easy though because you really get to know everyone on your floor in your building.
Academic Rigor The liberal arts curriculum in some subjects are very demanding. Stay on top of your work, and you should be fine. Classes in your major also take hard work and discipline.
Tips for prospective students Visit before you apply. Make sure you get all of your questions answered, and try the cafeteria food. Try to sit in on a class or two in your intended major.
In three sentences Ohio Northern is a nice quaint school in the small village of Ada, Ohio. The campus is beautiful and the professors are great! You get to know them personally and they get to know you.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Again, Ada is a small town, so the most trouble you are going to have will come from other college students.
Greek Life There are several social organizations, faith based organizations, music-related service, and just plain service groups that are considered part of greek life- check them out!
Clubs and Activities I'm only involved in music and APO, but my experience with both has been phenomenal!
Great for these types of students Kids who can deal with the small town lifestyle, that can be crazy and different, and not be ashamed of it.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus After the mud volleyball games, it is a tradition to jump into what is often a freezing cold lake. We also have the tundra- you can guess what that would mean in the middle of winter. We're the polar bears, of course.
Bang for the buck ONU is an extremely expensive university, but overall I can't imagine having a better college experience elsewhere.
What to do for fun Join lots of organizations. Ada is a small town, so unless you like to party, I suggest bringing a car or finding ways to have fun (like game nights) with your group of friends.
Food and Dining See above: too much of greasy food (as always) will make you sick, and that is the bulk of what the dining hall serves. There are much better options, of course, if you know how to work the system.
Dorm Life See above: it can be fun if you have a great roommate, but this doesn't always happen. Over weekends the cleanliness of freshmen dorm bathrooms leaves a lot to be desired, but for the most part it's decent.
Academic Rigor It's not ivy league, but due to its small size teachers have a lot less to grade and can give you a larger and more rigorous workload. I rate it as a bit more difficult than the average.
Tips for prospective students *Take great care when filling out the roommate survey- it may seem like no big deal, but despite res life's claims it has a lower than expected success rate for incoming freshmen. *Be very involved in activities, be they social or service (APO is a great organization!) and get out there and make new friends. *Take care when selecting food- you can eat well and eat healthily via the meal swipes, permitted you know the schedule of when different places are open and spend your points wisely.
In three sentences It's a school where you know everyone, and just about everyone is extremely nice. The teachers, for the most part, are willing to work with you in every respect for you to succeed. It has its problems, but so does every school.

Categories Comments What to do for fun While Ada seems like a place of little to do, there really is more to this town than meets the eye. There are so many food places, and there's always something going on at school or a friend's room or apartment you can go to.
Tips for prospective students Come into college prepared to meet new people, try new things, and change. Everyone changes in some way or another, and you won't realize it as it's happening. The people at Ohio Northern will help you embrace who you are and who you become.
In three sentences Ohio Northern is a great place to be. The campus is beautiful year round regardless of the weather, and the people are always friendly and ready to help out. There isn't anywhere else I would want to be.

Categories Comments Campus Safety You can always find a security guard driving around campus, and crime is fairly uncommon. Some car break-ins have occurred, but no major violence has occurred during my time at ONU. Safety lights and phones abound on campus, and the security team has drills throughout the year. Also, the Ada police is only a block or two down the road.
Greek Life Greek life is pretty popular on campus. There are a variety of fraternities and sororitites, so you can find one that meets yours expectations. Beyond social fraternities and sororities, Ohio Northern has a large number of service and academic oriented greek organizations. These groups are more like a high school National Honor Society.
Clubs and Activities There are no clubs in the area, but the local bar and restaurants serve as great meeting places. Many groups have activities throughout the year, meaning that there is usually at least one major event each week.
Great for these types of students ONU is great for students who worked really hard in high school and want to maintain that lifestyle. Pharmacy majors especially benefit at ONU.
Bang for the buck The vast majortiy of teachers are great at their jobs, and you get actual teachers, not assistants or student teachers. The campus is beautiful, and the dorms are acceptable. It has a very high placement rate, making the loans worth it. The only reason I did not give ONU a five is due to the shoddy meal plan.
What to do for fun There are so many groups on campus that you can plan an activity almost every night. Some are group-member only, while others are for the entire campus. The Ada movie theater sells $4 tickets, and the larger city of Lima is only 30 minutes away. Even though it is a small town, you are never bored.
Food and Dining The food is absolutely awful. It is not very healthy, and the vegetarian line is only open on weekdays. The meal plan is mandatory, so don't expect to get off it any time soon. The desserts are quite delicious, however.
Dorm Life The dorms are your typical dorms. However, the water pressure in the bathrooms is low, and they are not cleaned as often as one would wish. There is plenty of room for two people in the rooms, and lots of activities are brought via resident assistants directly to the dorms.
Academic Rigor Ohio Northern is surprisingly hard for most majors. My friends (of equal academic ability) at other private colleges are having a much easier time. Plan for at least 4-8 hours of homework night.
Tips for prospective students Bring lots of snacks and as large of a fridge as possible. The meals in the cafeteria are not very good. Rainboots are a must due to the unpredictable weather on campus. Dome umbrellas are a good plan as well.
In three sentences Ohio Northern has a beautiful, welcoming campus year round. Various groups bring tons of activities to campus since it is located in a very small town. The only downside is the dining plan.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I don't think there isn't a few hours where I don't see security or Ada police driving by. I feel comfortable walking around in the early hours of the morning by myself with no problems.
Clubs and Activities Organizations are extremely active on campus.
Great for these types of students Outgoing, creative, enthusiastic.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Mud Volleyball. Harvest Fest.
What to do for fun Hang out with friends. Attend events put on by student planning committee. Harvest Fest in the fall.
Food and Dining My mom is a great cook. So nothing can compare.
Dorm Life I'm not a fan of dorms in general.
Academic Rigor The school will definitely challenge you.
Tips for prospective students Do NOT procrastinate. It always will catch up with you. Get to know your professors; it will make the experience 10x better. Try something new!
In three sentences Very friendly school. The professors are exceptional. I am really glad that I decided to attend school here.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are plenty of activites that the student organizations for the students that are there.
Food and Dining At the university there are plenty of choices that the students can chose from. In the dining hall we have a hot fresh bar, vegetarian bar and a salad bar.
Dorm Life Everyone is very close with one another in the dorms. The RA's keep everyone informed with campus activities or anything else.
Academic Rigor The students of ONU are very rigorous about academics. ONU is rated excellent for there acadmemics.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your professors they will help you with whatever you need. Join extracurricular activities so you get to know your fellow ONU students.
In three sentences This university is one of the top private universities in the nation. Even though the location is in a small town called Ada, the community and university work as one to support one another. It is also the home of the Wilson Football Factory.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Go to the free campus events or go to any of the free sporting events! The football and basketball games are always packed.
Food and Dining I think the food at the dining hall is pretty good for college food! Some people may say otherwise, but I enjoy it. You just can't eat the same thing everyday!
Dorm Life On-campus housing is so much fun to be a part of! All of the freshman live together, which is really fun.
Academic Rigor The classes were definitely a challenge for me, but the main aspect that helped me through them were the professors. Each and every one of them is more than willing to help you if you are willing to put in some extra effort. Utilize their office hours.
Tips for prospective students Meet new people! The campus is small enough that you can get to know everyone, but it is big enough that you do not have to see them everyday. Go to the free events on campus, especially the beginning of the year comedians!
In three sentences Deciding to come to this university was the best decision of my life. Not only have I made incredible friendships, but I have gotten the most out of the academic side of ONU. I have had so many opportunities already and I still have three more years here!

Categories Comments Bang for the buck Definitely apply for scholarships, and if you get those then this school won't have a problem with providing you with a great education for your money.
Food and Dining The food has room for improvement, but there is plenty of variety at the cafeteria for anyone to eat well.
Dorm Life The dorms are great, especially with the great RA's that the school ha on staff.
Academic Rigor We're only a couple weeks in and I'm learning so much from my teachers and they know who I am.
Tips for prospective students Come for a visit! You and anyone you come with will find it beautiful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety It is very safe, I have never had any problems, even at night.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot to choose from!
What to do for fun Hangout out with friends, football games, going to surrounding towns, etc. There is not much to do in Ada so you have to find other things to do outside of the town.
Food and Dining There are lots of options but the main cafeterias food is not really that good. It has its days but usually overall its sub-par.
Dorm Life Everyone is really friendly at first and it is easy to meet people. Sometimes however, the dorms are loud so studying in the library is probably the best bet.
Academic Rigor The programs are difficult, but not unreasonable. Remember college is supposed to be more difficult as it is higher education.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus! You never know if you will like something and college is a big decision, so you want to make sure that ONU is a perfect fit for you. I knew as soon as I stepped on the campus!
In three sentences ONU is a great small school! It provides great student to professor interaction and the staff is always willing to help you if you would need them. The campus is beautiful and the education is second to none!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Emergency poles are found throughout the whole campus.
Greek Life Greek life is offered at the school, but a student is not left out of any activities or parties just because the person is not Greek. Every student is accepted and treated equally.
Clubs and Activities Many clubs are offered at Ohio Northern University and provide good reviews for future applicants for jobs.
What to do for fun Different activities are always going on and planned each week. Although Ohio Northern University might be in the middle of nowhere, there is no need to leave the school due to the amount of activities and fun you will experience right there at the school.
Food and Dining The food is decent, but could be better.
Dorm Life The dorms are fit for a typical college student. They provide the appropriate space and facilities a student needs to enjoy their stay.
Academic Rigor The academics are top-notch at Ohio Northern University.
Tips for prospective students Any high schoolers out there ready to experience college at a whole new level should consider Ohio Northern University. ONU not only has the people to make a person's experience better, but earned a well-respected reputation around the nation. The education a person will receive at Ohio Northern University will benefit greatly in the future. A simple quality is found throughout the school, whether that's in the classrooms or athletic fields, but a competitive nature is in the eyes of all students. A competitive person will achieve success through perseverance and dedication towards their goal. Ohio Northern University is a ground work for a student's success in the future.
In three sentences The atmosphere of Ohio Northern University is overwhelmed with a positive vibe invigorated in every student. The people at the school make Ohio Northern University what it is, which is an incredible educational experience. Not only are the students overcome with a passionate desire to succeed in all aspects of life, the professors show a similar pattern.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Incredibly safe. There have been no accounts of aggressive crimes. People feel safe leaving out valuables for moments at a time.
Greek Life Greek Life groups are very active on campus. They account for most of the public events in the area.
Bang for the buck Many of the majors there probably do not pay up well for students who do not have most of their tuition covered by scholarships. The school is very expensive, and many students find themselves transferring from just realizing it.
What to do for fun You'll have to get creative. But, every day there is some event to busy yourself with. Organizations are holding events all of the time. There are parties on the weekends. And, there are plenty of opportunities to get away from everybody and just hang with friends.
Food and Dining The quality and availablity of the food is acceptable, but the choice is slim to none.
Dorm Life People are very friendly, but some get out of hand.
Academic Rigor Studying is required. If you don't need to study, you'll have to put work in anyway. A lot of time can be spent studying, but passing is more than possible.
Tips for prospective students Overestimate the class rigor to make sure you're in a good position academically. Grades stick with you. You can participate in organizations anytime.
In three sentences The campus is a homey place. The students are welcoming, the teachers are helpful, and people can relax and study at the same time. Be prepared to work hard, and enjoy it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Ohio Northern University has one of the safest campuses around. As many think that Security only cares about parking tickets, they are always around to help if something is wrong. Additionally, there are many emergency poles on campus, which have a phone to call security. When speaking to my peers, the worst thing that has happened here is a few stolen bikes.
Greek Life Greek Life is a major part of Ohio Northern University. As the freshman first arrive on campus, many events are set up in order to raise Greek Life awareness. There are social, academic, service, and professional fraternities and sororities. It is important to take some time and look into all of your options, including the benefits of not being involved in Greek life.
Clubs and Activities On campus, there will always activities to join. There are shows, including a famous hypnotist that comes every year, lectures which are tailored to specific professions (ex. engineering, business or pharmacy), and pick-up games of basketball and other sports in the Kinghorn Sports Facility. Unfortunately, on weekends this campus can sometimes become quite dull, as many students who live close to the campus tend to visit home. However, if you look for activities and have a positive attitude, you will never be bored on campus. Off campus, the town can seem small and uneventful. Even though it is safe, there is not many off campus activities to do as a student. The town consists of a small grocery store, a dollar store, a rite ate, a convenient store, and a few restaurants. Most students, including myself go to Lima, the closest town 15-20 minutes away where they have everything that any student would need.
Great for these types of students Ohio Northern University is great for students who are serious about their education and major. With top of the line education, these students need to realize that academics are at a higher priority than other things (ex. dining, off-campus activities, etc).
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus This campus is pretty standard. The main dorms are in a very central location, making it easy for any major to get to class. The buildings are separated by major (ex. Pharmacy, Engineering, Sciences, Writing, etc) but with the Gen Ed's requirement, you will have classes in all buildings at some point.
Bang for the buck This Bang for the buck relies on which major the student in. For example, the characteristic 0-6 Pharmacy program may be worth more money, compared to the 2-4 program that most other Pharmacy schools offer. With a hefty price tag, it may seem daunting for students to even attempt to apply. However, admissions and financial aid end up giving lots of scholarship to those deserving.
What to do for fun On the weekdays, many students workout, play sports, play video games, attend certain organizations, and study. On the weekends, many students do the same things. However, many students tend to go home on weekends. It becomes useful to own a car or find a friend that has a car in order to go into Lima, the closest town that has many things to stay entertained.
Food and Dining When coming to visit Ohio Northern University, you may think that there is a decent food selection. I will tell you that the food stays the same and it can sometimes be unbearable. On many websites, Ohio Northern University is ranked one of the worst dining halls in the United States. I tend to disagree with the rankings, being able to eat healthy food most of the time. They have begun to change the dining hall slowly by adding nutrition facts to all foods and serving up daily specials, but in my opinion, as long as Sudexo is in charge of the dining, the food will never change for the better
Dorm Life The dorms are something that every incoming freshman worries about. The residence life at Ohio Northern is like no other, being able to have your own room by your 2nd year of school. The only rough year will be your first. Be prepared for having a roommate and sharing a bathroom with the floor. Usually the bathroom is well maintained, but, on weekends, when the janitorial staff is not around, things can get out-of-hand. In the second year, you will still have a roommate, but you will have your own room. You will only be sharing the bathroom and living area with your roommate.
Academic Rigor I have found the Academics to be quite the challenge but not unsurmountable. The coarse load is enough to keep you busy throughout the semester while still giving you time to be yourself. For example, I am still able to go to the gym everyday and still complete all of my assignments. While some classes will be easier than others, the overall academic experience is uncomparable to any other school.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should check out every college without looking at the tuition cost. In many cases, the merit scholarships will be a lot higher at the higher costing schools. Therefore, I would advise to look at every school as if they cost the same and then wait to make any decisions until the award packages come in from every school. Additionally, I would try and talk to as many students as you can when you visit campus. The guides usually say nothing but good things about the college but if you ask students for their personal opinion, I'm sure you will be able to uncover all of the cons about the particular school. Lastly, I would bring a camera and take pictures of the campus before going back home. Also, on the way home I would make a pros & cons list for every college while it is fresh on your mind. When financial aid packages come in, these pictures and charts will be a huge help.
In three sentences The academics for the Pharmacy program are incredible because of the teacher-scholar model and class size. The campus is large enough to get the college feel but small enough to be able to get to know your peers. Overall, with some downsides including the meal provider (Sudexo) and off-campus activities, this campus is just right for a student looking for Pharmacy education.
