Categories Comments Tips for prospective students I would definitely say that ORU will exceed your expectations- It certainly exceeded mine! The best advice I can give is to check out ORU during College Weekend, fly/drive to campus and see if you enjoy it. That's probably the best thing for a prospective student to do.
Bang for the buck There is a Chick-Fil-A on campus. Enough said, right?
Am enjoying being here When I arrived, I was applauded by a large crowd with hundreds of current students which really made me feel welcome. This school is different than most- there is a real sense of community and you will have no trouble fitting in no matter who you are!
Am learning a lot Not only am I learning SO much in regards to my media major and other general courses, I feel that I am learning so much about life and how to be a prospect for change in my community.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students I could say that ORU is great for everyone. But to be more specific, here are some specific traits I have noted in students here: Christian; Motivated; Ambitious; Fun-loving; Uncertain (about what you want to be when you grow up); Dedicated to Studies; Athletic; Artistic
Tips for prospective students Come check out ORU! We have College Weekends every fall and spring, and I can guarantee that we will do our best to make you feel welcome! On a more practical note, ORU will do their best to help you afford an education here. No matter who you are, funds are within your reach. Apply for scholarships and grants, or even look for a work-study job; opportunities are abundant.
Bang for the buck ORU is committed to making sure you have the best experience possible during your time here. They make the dorms as comfortable as they can, with upgrades every time you come back from a break. They do their best to help you with your studies, and get you into the right classes. They provide plenty of food options: the cafeteria, coffee shops, smoothie shops, and Chik-fil-a. There is also a great aerobics center, with an indoor track and olympic pool. Everything you need is at your fingertips.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely LOVE being here. I have made high-quality friends, and I feel totally accepted on this campus. People really care about you here, including your professors. Tulsa is also a great city to explore; there are lots of options for entertainment. Great coffee shops, bowling just down the street, Walmart across the street, all the stores you would ever think of to go to at home--you name it, it's here.
Am learning a lot ORU prioritizes you as an individual student. They challenge you and put you in the best classes available. Learning isn't restricted to the classroom. At ORU, you are learning about your entire person--spirit, mind, and body. Your person will never be bored here, unless you choose to live in disinterest.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Spirit-filled, Christian, Ambitious, Hard-working, spiritually, mentally, and physically well-rounded.
Tips for prospective students Your goal for college is not to get a degree. Your goal is to get an education. Oral Roberts University is designed to give you the education and the knowledge you need to be the best at what you will do.
Bang for the buck Whether or not my profession ever repays the whole cost of my tuition and MORE, the relationships I built here at ORU, and the knowledge I gained are without a doubt worth the cost of tuition.
Am enjoying being here I had always imagined going to college out-of-state, but overall, Tulsa is a fantastic place to live; with the big-city feel, but the small-town citizens, Tulsa has the perfect atmosphere for anyone. Oral Roberts University is also currently in the best position it has ever been since around when it opened in 1963. The newest incoming president, Mark Rutland is a phenomenal president, with the student's best interest at heart. I am thrilled to be here.
Am learning a lot The professors, in addition to being friendly, personable, and considerate of your time and feelings, are so knowledgeable about the area that they teach. Although of course, I have not had every professor, every professor I have had thus far have been beyond exceptional. I am very pleased with the amount they know, and they efforts they make to help you and your career.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students ORU is a university that is great for students that love the lord and live a Christlike lifestyle. Students at ORU hold themselves to a high moral and ethical standard. Most students have lofty goals for themselves with the determination to change their world. Prestigious leaders and ministers have come out of ORU and students are encouraged to listen to the voice of God and not belittle the possibilities for their life. ORU is great for students who know that their life has a plan and a purpose.
Tips for prospective students My advice for everyone is to get involved. The best way to make a transition easier is to find people whom you can go to during this challenging time. Join clubs and organizations, be involved with Wing Events, and talk to people in your classes. College will be a much more enjoyable experience the sooner you find someone to share it with.
Bang for the buck I must admit that ORU is an expensive University and such a financial burden may seem overwhelming. However, the University offers numerous scholarship opportunities such as the Whole Person Scholarship which is a full tuition scholarship for 4 years awarded to 25 incoming students every year. Other academic and extracurricular scholarships are available on campus. For the extra money, students can experience a smaller more personal classroom environment, a spiritually guided lecture setup, bigger dorm rooms, chapel twice a week, and a personalized caring spirit-filled campus.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely LOVE Oral Roberts University. The joyful atmosphere that fills the campus never ceases. Everyone is very helpful and accommodating to ones needs, they truly care about the students and the success of everyone post graduation. People are very friendly and caring and full of the peace of God. A great place to grow spiritually, physically, and intellectually.
Am learning a lot At ORU the teachers and faculty don't take lightly the importance of an education. They truly care about the students and not just the grade earned in the class. Teachers and faculty teach students lessons that will be useful outside the classroom in addition to factual information. Personal at ORU do everything in their power to help students grow physically, intellectually and spiritually. At ORU I feel that I have become more spiritually alive, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, socially adept, and professionally competent.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Christian, Smart, Out going, innovative, personable, world changers.
Tips for prospective students Do your homework, use available on campus resources like the library, tutors, and your teachers. All the teachers want you to succeed and enjoy being here.
Bang for the buck You get what you put into it.
Am enjoying being here I got accepted to six other colleges and this one stood out because of the joyful atmosphere that is apparent anywhere that you go on campus. The sense of community, family and innovation never disappears from the campus.
Am learning a lot All of the classes are a work out for your brain. They get both your mind and spirit engaged in the material that you are covering. With the help of experienced professors and state of the art technology learning is exciting and personal.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Everyone with a passion for God, for themselves, and for their fellow man, should apply. Even if you've been a Christian for a week, a seasoned believer, or you are still debating the 'whole Christ thing', you should apply. The environment is so loving and understanding, you will WANT to be here. No one should be without the experience of a campus like the one at Oral Roberts University.
Tips for prospective students Network. Network. Network. I cannot stress this point enough. Yes, keep your grades up, but also- get to know the people sitting next to you in class. Get to know your floor-mates, and those around you at school. You are attending a University of world changers, and your future will lie among these men and women. The ties you will find at ORU will stay for a lifetime and you will not regret it.
Bang for the buck Oral Roberts University is expensive for some, not as expensive for others. I don't come from a family with lots of College Savings, but ORU has helped so much. Their Financial Aid department is a real blessing, and they have made it possible for me to attend this fantastic University. With the quality of the staff, the loving and rich atmosphere, and the networking that you will have available, the price-tag is well-worth the prospect of what ORU has to offer.
Am enjoying being here Oral Roberts University was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. To say that I enjoy being here is like saying that standing out in the rain will probably get you wet. The atmosphere around campus is very God-centered, and very joyous. Our President, Dr. Rutland, is a true blessing to this campus and has worked hard to make sure that the life as a commuter (which I am) and a residential student are both pleasant experiences. There are people here from every walk of life, 49 states, and over 70 countries. We have Catholics, Christians, people new to the Faith, and people brought-up in the Church. The environment is so warming and loving, you will wake up every day with the true desire to attend class.
Am learning a lot The Professors here are extremely knowledgeable. I am a Theology Major and we are truly blessed to have such a strong leadership at ORU. I know that I will leave ORU with the knowledge that I didn't waste time by coming here, and that I was truly given an opportunity to excel.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students ORU is great for outgoing students who enjoy belonging to a community. However, shyer students will be able to take refuge in the spacious gardens and the multi-floor library as well as the Internet cafe and other quieter zones of the University.
Tips for prospective students People are generally friendly at ORU and enjoy having a good time. Be bold and show yourself friendly. Soon you won't have any problem maintaining an active social life. However, make sure that you leave yourself time to study because exams and final papers can creep up on you before you know it.
Bang for the buck For the money that you spend you will receive quite a few benefits from the accredited degree programs to the student resources such as the recreation center and multiple sports fields. ORU also boasts an immediate hire rate for graduating seniors of over 95 percent.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere at ORU is very friendly and incoming students will have no problem finding their own niche. The university offers multiple intramural sports, cafes, food vendors, a smoothie shack, and beautiful gardens and landscaping. For active people there is a fully stocked recreation center with a weight room, aerobics gym, basketball court, Olympic style pool with a diving board, racquetball courts, badminton courts, and other such things. There are also outdoor tennis courts, soccer fields, and large empty fields perfect for football and Frisbee.
Am learning a lot ORU offers many different degree programs such as art, music with varying concentrations, mathematics, engineering, and others. Its departments are fully accredited and it has the honor of being only one of a hundred schools in the US whose music department is an all Steinway school.

Categories Comments Bang for the buck The food was great (there's a Chick-Fil-A). Plus, even though its a private school the cost wasn't as big as I expected it to be.
Will enjoy being here The atmosphere was so happy. When I visited there were never any sad faces. My favorite place was the Prayer Tower. There was just so much peace in the Prayer Room.

Categories Comments Tips for prospective students Come to a College Weekend and experience all that ORU has to offer. If you can't make it to a college weekend, at least schedule a campus and if you can, an overnight visit. I could tell you the greatest things about ORU but in order to truly understand how great of a school it is, I would highly recommend you to come and see for yourself.
Bang for the buck ORU is an expensive school but it's well worth it. Not only are you receiving a top-notch education but you are surrounded by brilliant, award winning professors and get to stay in beautiful dorms. There are many opportunities to succeed at ORU and our tuition money helps fund amazing programs like the APA and Tutoring centers.
Am enjoying being here Being at ORU has been a dream and prayer come true. One of the greatest things about ORU isn't just its education level or beautiful campus but the people. The students at ORU are friendly, welcoming and easily become like a second family.
Am learning a lot Education of the whole person -- mind, body and soul -- is one of the founding principles of ORU. Through their classes, chapel services and physical education requirements, they serve their purpose and they serve them well. Professors have open office hours and are more than willing to help if you're having any trouble. The tutoring centers and APA program are there for homework help and study tips. Through the chaplain program and weekly chapel services, you learn more about what living for Christ really means. While the physical education requirement may seem silly to some, it has motivated me to get healthier and to take care of my body now and in the future. ORU claims to educate the whole person and it delivers in every way.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Oral Roberts University is a spirit-filled school. If you have a heart for Jesus Christ and want to learn how to minister through whichever degree you choose, this is a wonderful place to attend. You do not have to major in a theology or missions degree. You will grow just as much spiritually if you major in a secular degree.
Tips for prospective students I just have one thing to say, go for it! If you have a heart to be at ORU, go for it! That is what I live by because I have a tendency to worry too much. I have to remember that I am not always in control and sometimes I need to follow what I believe God is telling me to do. Just go for it!
Bang for the buck The university is expensive but definitely worth every penny! The school offers many scholarships and grants which really help. I was pretty concerned with the finances to attend but God has provided for me. I am now worry free!
Am enjoying being here I LOVE it here! I would never choose to leave this school for anything. From the moment I first stepped foot on campus I felt the peace and joy that this campus is full of. The people are friendly and love God with all of their hearts. I know that I am safe here and never have to worry about a thing!
Am learning a lot The education that I am receiving is exceeding my expectations. Not only do you improve intellectually but also physically and spiritually. ORU lives on the vision of the whole person. I only thought that I would be going to class and reading some books, but the professors bring it to a new level. They are all highly educated and experienced in their fields.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Ultimate security is serious around there ain't no joke, like Houston PD.
Clubs and Activities Man we do have inter-murals and are pretty serious about them. We have dorm games and many outdoor movies and concerts.
Great for these types of students Its great for Christian students who want to learn but remain in Him and have strength to do anything!! (John 15)
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Well the hangout spot is Chick-fil-a but we also chill in the prayer gardens which are gorgeous and filled with beautiful silence ( no joke).
What to do for fun Hang with friends is a time passer, read your Word and pray in the prayer gardens, and when its nice outside play soccer, ultimate frisbee, play a lil baseball.
Food and Dining Saga (our cafateria) is delicious!!! No other words!! Chick-fil-a and a bomb smoothie place!!
Dorm Life Well I can say that people here are cool though you may run into some who don't act as you would think they would with Christ in them. But there are some genuinely sweet and lovely people here.
Academic Rigor The professors make you work really hard and teach very well. They teach with wisdom and knowledge and try not to forget Christ. These guys are awesome!!
Tips for prospective students Love and go in head first! Be cool with things you love and you'll see you are not the only one who loves those things. Also listen to the spirit with things you do and eat at saga with caution that you will probably gain weight but you'll lose it with all the exercise you will HAVE to do!!
In three sentences This place is really awesome academics, people, campus, and the hunger for Jesus Christ! The scenery on campus is beautiful as well as many of the people here. The most important thing you become mature in your walk with God if that is one of the things you wish to accomplish.

Categories Comments What to do for fun ORU has many on campus activities and concerts throughout the year. They are building a student center.
Food and Dining ORU does not have very many options. Chick fil a is a popular place on campus and there is a couple of cafes on campus. Little Ceasars pizza is right across the street for some cheap 5 dollar pizza.
Dorm Life I love the dorm life. Most floor develop a little community within in their dorm and are similar to fraternities since there are none at ORU. Being a christian school guys and girls dorms are separate and they are not allowed to enter into each others dorm, except for a designated time that the school picks out each year.
Academic Rigor ORU is competitive academically. Our SIFE business program as one many awards. Most of the professors are understanding and keep a positive attitude knowing that ORU is a rigorous christian college, they really try and help the students as much as they can.
Tips for prospective students Get past the fact that Oral Roberts is located in Tulsa. Tulsa is not the greatest city but it is not that bad. ORU has a lot of international students, meet them and learn about their culture and that relationship might open doors for you to travel to that country in the future.
In three sentences Oral Roberts is a prestiguos universisty that focuses on developing the whole person in each on their students. They believe the whole person consists of Spirit, Mind, and Body. Unlike the popular belief for most christian schools, Oral Roberts focuses on being competitive scholarly and athletically.

On campus its fun to hang out in the social room of the Francis dorms with games and music its great to get to know friends.
Food and Dining The food is amazing! They have a huge selection with most of what anyone would want. Also they make starbucks and Chick-Fil-A available on campus.
Dorm Life The dorms are an awesome place to live. Roommates are very good from my experience. Also the rooms are very nice and clean though slightly small.
Academic Rigor Academically ORU pushes there students to there best. Also Professors are always there to help. Study groups are informative and VERY helpful.
Tips for prospective students Read and buy things on the must have list. Have a Laptop for notes if possible. Get to know your roommate.

Categories Comments Greek Life There is no Greek life. The Closest you will find will be floor life.
Clubs and Activities Although limited in number, the quality of all the clubs and activities I have been apart of has been excellent. These include. the IWC, the Sous-A-Fire gosple choir, and the International Crisis Simulation.
Bang for the buck ORU is a fantastic university worth every penny, with great academics, a staff that will blow you away, and an amazing student body. The quality of the classes are far higher than the previous schools I have attended. The Spiritual atmosphere and life on the campus are that of committed Bible school, if you are willing to tap into it.
What to do for fun The campus offers the aforementioned eating locations, dorm life, and events put on by various student groups on campus which vary from dances, parties academic groups and clubs, Athletics Center, and of course the Sporting events of ORU's division one athletics program. Tulsa also offers a great many restaurants, movie theaters, malls, churches, church sponsored events, bike trails, and other outdoor opportunities. A couple regular haunts from last year were the dollar theater and McNellies known for its Wednesday night three dollar burger meal.
Food and Dining ORU uses the company Sedexo to runs the restaurants and facilities on campus and their services rank upper mid-tier to other colleges I have visited. The majority of your meals will likely be in the Dining hall or saga as we students call it. There are also a chick-fil-a a pretty good deli, several smoothie shops and a couple of new restaurants will be opening this winter quarter in the student center.
Dorm Life The dorm life at ORU varies widely, from fraternity like atmosphere in EMR and Claudius, to a quieter yet still social atmosphere in the towers and an extremely private sedated dorm in Suzie. The students are generally fun, kind, and sincere. There are also floor officers Resident Assistants, Chaplains, and Academic Peer Advisors who help to foster the values of the University on the floor and help to provide the students with a support system.
Academic Rigor Oral Roberts University is a excellent school, with high quality courses, material and staff. The university is can be very academically rigorous. The level of academic rigor may vary from department, to program, to professor, however it is all of at least a midlevel rigor.
Tips for prospective students I highly recommend that perspective students take full advantage of college weekend to get a glimpse into the University. Perspective students should also take any and all opportunities to speak with students and staff, getting to know them and as a result the university they are a part of. Students should familiarize themselves with the rich history of ORU and the mantel that they will come under attending the University.
In three sentences Oral Roberts is a wonderful university, with caring, helpful staff and a genuine, intelligent, and inspirational student body. This university's standards are high, and as a result the quality of the courses I have taken so far have been excellent. The authentic, loving, christian culture and atmosphere present at Oral Roberts University are a unique gem.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe. No drugs, alcohol, or rape occur regularly if at all.
Greek Life We don't have a Greek Life but we do have something similar--Brother and Sister Wings. Every floor or wing of every boys'/girls' dorm has a brother/sister wing/floor/ It's like a mini-sorority or fraternity for everyone.
Clubs and Activities The Intramurals are INSTENSE. ORU is a basketball school though, so no football. The clubs are okay but few.
Great for these types of students ORU is a great place for young, Christian students looking to receive a quality education.
Bang for the buck Expensive but you'll fall in love with it.
What to do for fun Tulsa has everything from paintball to state fairs to movies. There's plenty of fantastic places to eat, be entertained, or just hang out.
Food and Dining SAGA, our cafeteria, isn't exactly everyone's favorite but it's not bad for cafeteria food.
Dorm Life Dorm life ranges by floor (aka crazy to chill) but you can be assured that you will be respected by those in leadership positions and fellow students.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to make a trip to visit during College Weekend. It's a blast!
In three sentences ORU is the place where I feel most at home. It is the place I know where I'm supposed to be, learning under professors of high integrity and standards. I wouldn't go to school anywhere else.

Dorm Life The men's dorms could me updated to have better accommodations.
Academic Rigor The teachers, when I have met them, seem to be easy to learn from but also keep the classes at a challenging level.
In three sentences I have visited ORU campus and talked to the staff and it is excellent! They are very easy to work with and the campus is beautiful and peaceful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The security holds a tight lid. Students often jog at night. I, honestly, felt very safe in that school. This is a very positive environment.
Greek Life None. However, each dorm floor has its own name, with a joint sister or brother wing. So, in a way, it is like a Greek life...minus excessive parties. The student body overall cares about their academics.
Clubs and Activities They are a lot of clubs and different ways to get involved.
Great for these types of students Students who value a faith-based environment, but not limited to Christians. There were a lot of non-Christians who attended.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The 1 A.M. curfew feels unusual, because it feels like restraint. However, it is actually good. I discovered the better use of the night, which is sleep or academics. This is coming from someone who is a night-owl and will stay up until 4 A.M. to edit a video or memorize lines.
Bang for the buck I love this school! This senrich really taught me how to stand on my two-feet. In essence, it helped prepare me toward a better future through the discovery of aiming for greater heights.
What to do for fun Sports intramurals; Showcase each semester for all students who want to act in the school plays; Student Association; foreign languages' clubs; big on dorm floor events (sisterhood; brotherhood); and more.
Food and Dining The cafateria, Saga, is okay, but that's to be expected with cafeteria food. However, I'm a picky eater when it comes to food; do consider that. Upgrade: they just got a salad bar!
Dorm Life Still some 70s flare in design and architecture. But tons of recent renovations have been done within the past year (the most I have seen in all 3 years I was there). Fun fact: Oral Roberts, the founder, was colored blind and the only color that he could see in it's full hue was gold. This made me start to like all the random gold 70s design.
Academic Rigor Prepare to work hard by studying hard. This is a private school. They will make sure you get your money's worth.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus beforehand, with the College Weekend events, to check out the university and sit-in on classes.
In three sentences Oral Roberts University has pretegious standards given its location and comparisons to surrounding schools. I've grown up in different neighboring cities. The institution strives in educating the whole person: mind (with academics), body (with required health/athletic classes every semester), and soul (with twice a week chapel services, which are actually fun and relaxing).

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe on our campus
Great for these types of students People wanting to grow
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Partiestival at the beginning of every school year is so much fun! As well as Winter Homecoming
What to do for fun Movies, malls, ball games, dinner.
Food and Dining Food on campus is great. You have options to use Sodexo Bucks for Chick-Fil-A or at the delis, and coffee shops. Cafeteria has early breakfast, food throughout the day and late night dinner options.
Dorm Life Dorms are fun! You can have a roommate or a private room. Its a very close-knit community.
Academic Rigor It is tough, it feels like an Ivy League school, but we all can do it. Just have to put your mind to it.
Tips for prospective students Work hard when you get here, it is so easy to slip into the mindset of freedom at last and get caught up, making it easy to fall behind. Stay on top of school work, stay in constant communication with teachers, and grow spiritually. Allow God to develop you, take all your training.
In three sentences It is a school that truly focuses on the whole person becoming better: spiritually, physically (health/fitness), and academically. The training we receive spiritually through chapel helps to strengthen our inner-man and encourage us in our Christian walk. Physically we are encouraged to eat right and exercise. Academically, we are pushed, but it prepares us for future jobs.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities There are plenty clubs and many that continue to be added. Some majors like Accounting and Business have clubs you can be involved in a large or small scale.
Great for these types of students If you're a student who wants to be a world-changer or someone with BIG plans, ORU is the place for you. It's also great if you like being involved in community outreaches or if you like traveling to foreign nations for missions.
Bang for the buck ORU is well worth the cost. It is one of the best Christian universities because of its Christ-centered education and diversity.
What to do for fun Off campus, there's not a whole lot to do, but there are a few places like bowling alleys, skating rinks, dollar movie theaters, and museums.
Food and Dining The cafeteria food could be better, but jt does have options (such as a bakery, salad bar, fruit, cereal, pizza kitchen, deli, and a vegetarian station). There are also other places like the Deli and Chick-fil-A that are always good. If you'e looking for something light, there is a yogurt/smoothie place that is good too.
Dorm Life Dorm life is great because of the life-long friendships you can make. There are always downsides no matter where you live, but there is more positive aspects that make it good. The key is finding the right dorm that fits your personality.
Academic Rigor Academics are very rigorous especially those pertaining to one's major. The academics really do prepare you for your career and ensure that you're well equipped for the real world.
Tips for prospective students Come to ORU expecting to be challenged educationally, spiritually, mentally, socially, and physically. Take advantage of every opportunity like clubs and outreaches because there are plenty to be involved in. If you really are serious about coming and even if you're a little skeptical, come to one of the College Weekends, where you can see for yourself the campus and college life.
In three sentences ORU is a phenomenal campus that focuses on every aspect of students. Students can expect to be taught from top notch professors who enjoy what they do. Student life is overall great because of the great people and friendships that can be formed.

Tips for prospective students Visit the campus before making the commitment. Be sure that you are going to ORU for the right reasons because if so, then you'll have an awesome time.
Bang for the buck ORU is quite expensive. Like I said before, it is what you make of it.
Am enjoying being here Attending ORU took some adjustment, but eventually you will LOVE it.
Am learning a lot I am learning so much. Honestly, you get out what you put in. If you go to class, pay attention, you are bound to learn more than you have ever imagined.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students -Those wanting a spiritual environment -Those who love music -Those who love missions -Those who love business-they have a great business department -Those looking to make friends easily
Tips for prospective students Don't get too caught up in the social aspect of college to where you slack on doing your homework and studying. This is really easy to do your freshmen year.
Bang for the buck The experience here is worth every penny. Dorm life is so fun. You connect really well with your wing. You have wing events and you have a brother wing that you do a lot of events with. There are intramurals and many campus activities to get involved in where you make friendships really fast. There is also an incredible missions department at this school. I would highly recommend going here if you love going overseas. I went on a 2 month trip to India my freshmen year and it changed my life.
Am enjoying being here ORU is a truly amazing school. If you are looking for somewhere to go that is a great spiritual atmosphere, this is the place for you. It is honestly worth the money. Since coming to ORU, I have truly gone through what the school is founded on-healing. I have gone through so many processes of being healed internally from things in my life, and I would recommend this school to anyone. It's a great place to make friends easily and a very encouraging environment.
Am learning a lot In any university, you have to be smart about what major and what classes you choose to pursue. At every college, there are some teachers who do not really care about what they are teaching. You have to do your searching for the teachers who really do care and get in their classes. The same applies for your major. Many students these days are spending a lot of money to get a degree in something they aren't really learning much about in school. I would recommend you really look at what departments are the most knowledgeable and most highly spoken of so you do not waste your money. You can learn at any university you go to, it just depends on what teachers you take and what major you choose to pursue.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Everyone. All people from all walks of life would enjoy attending Oral Roberts University.
Tips for prospective students Come for College Weekend and then decide whether or not you would like to apply to ORU. Once you visit, check out the campus, view classes, and explore Tulsa to find that ORU is the right fit for you. Then when you get here, don't slack off. College is fun, but 30K a year is no joke. Apply. Study. Have Fun. Succeed. ORU is the place for that.
Bang for the buck One will not find a better combination of spiritual atmosphere and top-notch education at any other university in the world. ORU is definitely worth the expense and the experience one will have once attending.
Am enjoying being here Tulsa has so much that you can do. Is it a joy to just be on campus and it is a blast whenever one explores the surrounding city.
Am learning a lot ORU is all about the whole person education - mind, body, spirit. Every student will agree that the physical aspect of the education at Oral Roberts is quite strenuous, but it pays off in the end: you are healthier, happier, and felt better afterward. The educational system at this school is also top-notch. Most professors have doctorates in the particular field in which they teach. One cannot go wrong learning at Oral Roberts.

Categories Comments What to do for fun there are a variety of clubs to join, hangout in the fishbowl, get involved with an intramural team, or attend the events that the student association put on frequently. there is always something to do on campus. lots of friendly people!
Food and Dining the food is great, there's always a variety of choices. some days offer better food selections than others. overall, they have great cooks!
Dorm Life dorm life is a blast, but it can get a bit loud. the dorms are very social and always have different events happening on each wing. it is an experience you will not want to miss!
Academic Rigor oru does not have any blow off courses. each course is designed for the student to work hard for their grade. this university will make sure you are prepared for your career, come graduation.
Tips for prospective students i would suggest that all the prospective students learn how to manage their time well. managing time is a big factor in anyones college career. each student needs to learn how to prioritize their study time, social life, work, etc.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The security patrollers can get a little annoying at times, but the campus is incredibly safe.
Greek Life Nonexistent
Bang for the buck Tuition is pretty hefty, but not too hard to get.
What to do for fun The Armand Hammer Alumni-Student Center was just finished, which has Oklahoma's largest TV, pool tables, foosball tables, a Ping-Pong table, Xbox and Wii, and some arcade games. The campus also has a disc golf course. If you want to get off campus, Tulsa has a lot to do.
Food and Dining The campus cafeteria has pretty decent food most of the time (there's always a pizza line when it isn't so good). Chick-fil-A is always a hit. Moe's is pretty good, but expensive. The Deli is good, and both Freshens/Green Cuisine locations offer tasty things (though they're a bit pricey). Hava Java is good (it serves Starbucks coffee). Jazzman's is another coffee place, and while its coffee isn't as good, their baked goods are better. All in all, the food situation is pretty good.
Dorm Life Each floor has its own personality. You could end up with a close-knit floor or a more independent floor.
Academic Rigor General education classes tend to be a little easier than classes with a focus on a major.
Tips for prospective students If you procrastinate, it's not terrible, since deadlines are based on rolling admission, but it's not good either. Apply early and do your best in school... there are generous scholorships.
In three sentences This school is for someone who wants to get closer to God. If you're a true Christian, enjoy fellowship, and are looking for a quality education, this is your school!

Categories Comments Campus Safety Very safe campus located between Jenks and Tulsa.
Greek Life Their is no fraternities or sororities on campus. Since ORU is a private college they opt out of that. Instead they offer the bond of brother and sister wings.
Clubs and Activities Good amount of welcoming clubs and organizations.
Great for these types of students strong people of faith, people who want to become stronger in their faith, studious individuals, student athletes, people who want to make an impact in the global community.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The prayer garden is beautiful, so is the prayer tower. Its built to resemble a cross that can be viewed from 360 degrees.
Bang for the buck I'd say if your a prospective student who wants spiritually and intellectually excellent education, ORU is the best place for that.
What to do for fun Lots of clubs on campus, plenty of opportunities to get involved in some organization. My favorite thing is the disc golf course directly on campus.
Food and Dining There are only two restaurants on camps, chick-fil-a and the dining hall. I'd say on par food most of the time, in the dinning hall.
Dorm Life My biggest peeve with the dorms is that the female students are not aloud in the guys dorms, but other than that It's great. Nice size rooms and recently refurbished.
Academic Rigor It has professors who are very strong in their faith and extremely intelligent. Has an excellent pre-med program.
Tips for prospective students Know what classes you want to enroll and and enroll as soon as you can, because the classes fill up fast.
In three sentences Oral Roberts is a very good school for spiritual development. It teaches young men and women how dress and act formally in business like settings, via the stricter rules. There is a strong sense of unity between brother and sister wings.

Clubs and Activities Many many clubs. We have, the OIL club which is the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature for you who are interested in government, we have the parqour club, we have the sign language club, and the Spanish club, just to name a few.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Internet Cafe, Deli, the ruins, we also abbrev. just about everything. make friends who can tell you about the LRC and the GC and such.
Bang for the buck If you are open to it and it seems that this is where God has called you, God will use your experience here at ORU to enlighten you on His love for you, and grow you up into the man or woman He has called you to be.
What to do for fun The new alumni student center will be completed very soon. It will be the next great hangout spot on ORU's campus. I am very excited about it.
Food and Dining The food in the dining hall is not always the best, but there are places like freshenz and the deli where there is better food.
Dorm Life I am a very social person, so I really like dorm life. I really enjoy being in a building where there can be a sense of camaraderie.
Academic Rigor The Education and engineering departments are excellent. I am an Education major and I can tell you that if you come to ORU, be ready to put your whole heart into what you do. The professors will challenge you to grow up, and step into the place God has for you next.
Tips for prospective students I would say find a Junior to show you the ropes. Find someone who knows a few people and step out of your comfort zone. If you are having any trouble in any of your classes, talk with the professors. Many of them really do care and want the best for you.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is extremely safe with a large security staff constantly on guard and patrolling not to mention that ORU is located in a very family friendly, homey, small town like environment.
Clubs and Activities You name it, ORU has it. From sports teams, to clubs and organizations, leadership opportunities, community service/outreach opportunities, and missions work opportunities.
Great for these types of students ORU is perfect for ambitious go getters who are looking to meet a diverse wide range of people, make lasting relationships, and get a quality education AND a quality clean-fun college experience.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Once a week we meet up with our floors to get together, talk, and pray for each other. We also regularly get together with our Brother/sister wing (the floor directly across from us) to socialize.
Bang for the buck At Oral Roberts University each student is put into classroom where not only are the students ambitious, eager to learn, and work hard, but also the professors are eager to teach and explain and work with students to see them succeed without compromising the curriculum.
What to do for fun There is an awesome dollar theater 10 mins away from the university. There's also the river-walk and a mall close by.
Food and Dining The food is done in a large room all you can eat buffet style with 9 eating stations packed with different types of cuisine (everything from fried foods, to completely organic, and dessert!) Also there is a chic fil a, two coffee shops, a diner, and the university is building a new dining hall that will be packed with new restaurants to choose from.
Dorm Life ORU provides a unique experience with beautiful fully furnished dorm rooms, and an incredible sense of community on each floor. No matter where you are, you will feel as if you are surrounded by family.
Academic Rigor ORU prides itself on having academically challenging courses taught by caring, passionate professor who love what they do and have a passion for helping and working with students even one a one on one basis, without compromising the academic content or speed of the class.
Tips for prospective students Continue to work hard, dream big, and be diligent, and let no one and nothing stand in the way from your aspirations. Don't reach for the stars, because the stars are not high enough.
In three sentences Oral Roberts University has perfected a true community experience. The campus is absolutely beautiful, the professors helpful and understanding, and the people warm and caring. ORU had truly become my home away from home.

Categories Comments What to do for fun Fun on campus usually involves just being spontaneous really. You could go to different places off campus, like the pedestrian bridge, or downtown. On campus we have intramurals and in the spring we will have a new student center to hangout in.
Food and Dining The best places to eat are the deli, delicious sandwiches, and the bistro in the City Plex. though the main cafeteria is ok, it is not constantly pleasant. It mostly has moments of weird food combinations and not very well cooked food honestly.
Dorm Life Dorm life is my favorite part of ORU. Your floor mates can become your friends forever. Whether you are an introvert or and extrovert, there is a dorm and a floor that is perfect for you.
Academic Rigor Most gen eds are easy to pass if you are willing to put some effort into it. Most major classes are difficult, but are designed to push you to do well in your abilities. The teachers are really there to help you in any area of your life as well.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that you find the dorm and floor that is the best for your personality. Prepare to be pushed not only in your classes, but in your spiritual and physical life.
In three sentences ORU is a private Christian university and it is a place where you can grow, spiritually, physically, and mentally. It is a place where you make life-long friendships, and your teachers genuinely care about you, not just the work you do. Categories Comments Bang for the buck Being a private school ORU is very expensive, but in the end it is worth it.
What to do for fun It all depends on what you consider fun. If sport activities is your thing, the aerobics center is the place to be. I personally enjoy relaxing in the prayer gardens because it is so beautiful and usually quiet.
Food and Dining I don't eat on campus often but when i do it's not really all that bad. I do however have some friends that don't like it, but i also believe that everyone has their own opinion of how food tastes.
Dorm Life I am a commuter, so all I know about dome life is what my friends tell me.
Academic Rigor ORU believes in nothing but the best for their students.
Tips for prospective students Every Professor is different, some rely on technology while some barely understand how to work a dvd player but one thing they all have in common is that they want their students to be successful and more often than not begin and end class with a word of encouragement.
In three sentences This university is providing a gateway to fulfilling my dreams. The environment of ORU is always positive and uplifting. My professors always strive to be sure that my peers and I fully understand their instruction before we leave their classroom.

Food and Dining Honestly, the food isn't that great and it's overpriced.
Dorm Life Despite rules and regulations (which often challenge me), I love living on campus and I love the girls on my floor!
Academic Rigor The general education courses our pretty basic. But once you get into your major courses, the classes are challenging and very rewarding.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus, ask questions, and learn about the rules and regulations, and experience ORU for yourself before deciding if this is the school for you.
In three sentences ORU is unlike any other school. Of course, it has it's pros and cons. But it is an experience you will never forget.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities No matter what you're interested in, there's a club for it!
Great for these types of students No matter who you are, there is a place for you here. Love God? Love people? Come to ORU!
Bang for the buck To be honest, ORU is a very expensive school, in every aspect. But I promise you, it's worth it! The entire lifestyle here makes every penny spent worthwhile.
What to do for fun There are intermural sports, movies, and all kinds of activities. Close to campus are movie theaters, bowling, a river-walk and much more. Not to mention, there's a Wal-Mart across the street :)
Food and Dining There are many different on-campus dining opportunities. As far as school-food goes, it's pretty good. There is even a Chick-fil-a on campus!
Dorm Life I personally don't live on campus, but my friends do. From what I can tell, it is fun and well-worth it.
Academic Rigor At ORU, we devote our minds and our studies to God. The academics are very renown here, but all of our professors will help you as much as they can.
Tips for prospective students Come to college weekend, get oriented. Apply for scholarships early, you'll need them! Think of you're college career as an investment into your future.
In three sentences ORU is the best college I could have attended. There is a peaceful atmosphere here, and everyone is so friendly. If you want to feel accepted with no peer pressure, come to ORU: you won't regret it.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Security is top-notch. Curfews ensure students are safely in their dorms during the night.
Greek Life None.
Clubs and Activities There's endless opportunities, but be sure to get involved right away. It's very difficult to join any organizations mid-semester.
Great for these types of students Almost anyone. Although it is a Christian university, ORU accepts students from all religious backgrounds. But be forewarned, you will be expected to follow an honor code based on Christian principles.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus From buck-buck, Howard Runs, underground tunnels, and assassins, there's no limit to the strange and wacky (and illicit) games and activities on campus.
Bang for the buck With their cost vs. price packet, you'll understand the value of ORU.
What to do for fun Tulsa is a great city if you can get to know it. Most of its most excellent hangouts and activities are in hidden corners of the city. Ask a newcomer and they'll say there's nothing to do. Ask a local and you have endless possibilities.
Food and Dining With the brand new Armand Hammer Alumni-Student Center (or Hammer for short) dining on campus has just gone from average to excellent. We now have a total of 12 on-campus dining options, and tons of discounts and deals with Eagle Bucks off-campus.
Dorm Life While I commute, I know that most on-campus students have issues with some of the rules. Fortunately, talks of changes are on the horizon.
Academic Rigor ORU is challenging, but not impossible. I am currently taking 18.5 hours, and feel extremely challenged, and often crunched for time, but professors are aware that most students at ORU are high achievers and frequently give days off and extensions on projects when the know a student needs extra time.
Tips for prospective students Learn the lingo fast! There's a lot, and it will help you understand what everyone is talking about.
In three sentences Oral Roberts University truly is the most joyful campus in this or any parallel universe. ORU is just like any other top-rated school when it comes to excellence in academics, future careers, and education of students. But when it comes to our mission, ORU is unlike any other university.

Categories Comments Campus Safety A good number of friendly security guards keeping an eye on things as they patrol campus.
Clubs and Activities I take part in Physico, a group for Physics or Engineering students.
Great for these types of students Good for students who want to get to know other people of various levels of faith. Good for students who like learning, and who like being engaged in class and in fun.
Bang for the buck The higher cost of classes goes to a higher interest in full development of a person, rather than only development in a single topic.
What to do for fun Go hiking, go biking, go exploring, go to the aquarium, go to a dance, go to a basketball game... there are so many options.
Food and Dining The food is good!
Dorm Life As a commuter, one finds that there is little connection to activities outside of in-dorm invites.
Academic Rigor The classes range from moderately easy to tough, but each one is valuable in what is being taught.
Tips for prospective students Get to know advisors and students personally before coming in order to have a better handle on the system.
In three sentences Oral Roberts University is a very friendly campus. The students are easy to meet and get along with. The classes come in great variety.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is extremely safe. We have security guards placed throughout the school, and of course we have God watching over us.
Greek Life I don't know what this means.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs I cant even list them all...There is an abundance of activities. Movie nights, the student center, sporting events, chapel events, banquets, overnight trips, and much more.
Great for these types of students This school is great for people who love Jesus. It is also great for people who want to strengthen their walk with God. If you are a party animal, chances are you will not enjoy this university and best look somewhere else.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Well, we have chapel every Wednesday and Friday. I think that is something unique and awesome. Teachers open up each class with prayer which I found unusual, but have grown to love and appreciate. The prayer tower is one of the most unusual things we have on campus. It is a tower, entirely dedicated for prayer. It is a place student can go that is quiet where they can develop their faith with God.
Bang for the buck I think this school is worth every cent if you come here with the understanding that this is a Christian University. If you come here knowing that partying is not really an option. If you come here, you will leave a changed person. This school culttivates a culture of leaders. There is such a strong emphasis placed on leadership here. I have enjoyed every second of my time here. Plus, the students here are some of the most friendly people in the world. This campus is joy filled and I have met some of the most incredible people during my time here. It's worth every penny if you aren't trying to screw around with your time here.
What to do for fun There is so much to do. The actually city of Tulsa has a lot going on if you actually get out. The campus in itself has a lot going on. There are always movies being shown, we have a newly built student center where we can play video games, pool, watch the biggest TV in Tulsa. There are sporting events and spiritually events to attend. The school also has a sister wing for each floor so you can partner up with your wing and go out.
Food and Dining I am going to be complete honest, the food sucks. That comes with college I suppose. I also do not appreciate that we are required to buy a meal plan.
Dorm Life It all depends on your preference really. I am someone who is trying to stay away from parties, and trouble. The dorm I chose to live in is more relaxed, as in we are quiet and don't get into a lot of trouble. I like the peace of my floor, but each dorm and each floor has it's own culture. It's all a matter of preference. There are party floors, and then there are academic/quiet floors.
Academic Rigor Oral Roberts University not only challenges the students spiritually, but academically as well. The education is challenging, but has ultimately proven to increase my knowledge and worldview.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of all the school has to offer. For people who aren't believers, they tend to have a difficult time dealing with the rules of the school...but if you can get past that, this is truly a wonderful school. I have learned so much in my short time here. I took advantage of what they had to offer and it has strengthened my faith and has been a beautiful experience.
In three sentences This school focuses on developing leaders. We do not have majors, we have callings and a purpose. Oral Roberts University empowers it's students to go out and change their world.

Greek Life none
Clubs and Activities loads and lots of community outreach as well
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus brand new student center
Bang for the buck feeling very prepared for my future
What to do for fun swing dance, bike, hike, run, mall
Food and Dining Not great but not bad either, weekend breakfast in the dinning hall are awesome!!!! campus restaurants are pretty good.
Dorm Life so fun, but you have to figure out which of the dorms suits you best. ORU has every variety, but still allows for plenty of study time.
Academic Rigor no one of the top in the nation but I'm beginning to feel very prepared for my future
Tips for prospective students prepare for all sorts of weather. Look at the dress code before arriving. rent most of your books
In three sentences ORU is an amazing school for students who love good, but want a job out in the real world as well. ORU does its best to build up students mentally, physically and spiritually. It is a very warm and welcoming campus.

Greek Life I do not know, but the study of Greek is pertinent to the Bible, there are resources as well as Bibles you can purchase to study definitions in the Greek.
Clubs and Activities Connect with the groups that are established at the University. There is also the Prayer Tower that you can spend time at praying. There are several good causes that you could volunteer your time in.

Dorm Life Unknown, but I do get e-mails updating anything going on which is always a plus.
Academic Rigor There is a lot of reading, frequent quizzes and finals. You will have to study, but the material is very interesting!
Tips for prospective students Study hard, read ahead. Take notes and check your spelling before you submit assignments. You do not want to get points deducted for small errors you could have corrected with a little more time.
In three sentences This University is challenging, not only to your education but to your character. The University has kind and knowledgeable staff members ready to assist via phone or email. The courses have homework that makes you think about what you are learning.

Categories Comments Campus Safety If you're aware of your surroundings, you'll be safe. But Tulsa is a bigger city, so there are definitely parts of it that aren't safe.
Greek Life No Greek life. The floor you live with is kind of like Greek Life. Every floor has a different name. Every girl's floor has a boy's floor and they are called, Brother/Sister Wings.
Clubs and Activities There are clubs for everything. I recommend finding one you enjoy, maybe a club with your major. These can be great ways to find friends.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Ask an older student what a Howard Run and a Ninja Run is. Be sure to try to do these at some point. So much fun!
Bang for the buck It's expensive, but it's worth every penny.
What to do for fun Tulsa is larger city, so there is so much to do.
Food and Dining The food is okay. There are always about 5 options, so you can find something, but not everything is always good.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms are great! It's such a great community and you will make life long friends.
Academic Rigor It's definitely a very rigorous program. You have to be driven and willing to work hard.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to check out some of the programs that you're thinking about. Meet with the dean or some of the professors to see what it's really all about. Take a tour. Figure out what kind of dorm you want to live in.Try to live on campus! It's such a great experience!
