Great for these types of students

Pacific Union College is a great place for all types of students. It provides a nice, calm, quiet campus with benches and plenty of area to simply relax under the sun. In addition, there are plenty of places to gather and simply relax with a fellow student and talk about daily issues. I truly believe that any and every type of student would enjoy his or her stay at Pacific Union College.

    Tips for prospective students

All in all, Pacific Union College is a great, fun place to spend your college life. I recommend bringing lots of food to store in one's room in case of wanting a late night snack, and even some sandals for the shower room.

    Bang for the buck

Because Pacific Union College is located on a mountain in Angwin, California, it is not easy to make trips down to the city. However, the campus offers pretty much everything one would need in order to enjoy oneself at college. For example, a college market is a walking distance from all the dorms on campus. It is located right across from a post office which is open during regular business hours. The cafeteria offers nutritional meals daily and the gym is open for anyone that wishes to stay in shape.

    Am enjoying being here

One of the most attractive aspects of Pacific Union College is the student body itself. Consisting of a small 2,000 students, everyone gets to be familiar with everyone else. Friends are easy to make and the majority of all students have a great amount of school spirit which makes all the activities that go on around campus that much more enjoyable. The dorm life is great as well in addition to the recreational activities that Pacific Union College provides.

    Am learning a lot

At Pacific Union College, the professors and entire faculty are very approachable and friendly. One should never have trouble going up to any professor to ask a question, seek guidance, or simply talk to. All the classes are very well rounded and uphold Christian ethics and values which makes the entire college experience that much better.

Great for these types of students

Someone looking for friendly peers and knowledgeable faculty. Anyone interested in Nursing, Pre Med, Psychology, Art (of any kind. Music, Fine Art, Film Making), Aviation, or Theology (To name departments I know somewhat personally that I enjoyed being at) would find high after-grad hire rates. Overall, PUC has a good reputation among employers-especially in the Nursing/Pre-Med area.

    Tips for prospective students

Go for it. Even if you end up choosing to transfer to a different school later, PUC is worth the experience. The students are fresh, unique, and the teachers know what they're doing. Even if the school isn't the perfect one for you, I don't see any way to regret spending a year or two here. If you're in doubt, feel free to contact the faculty in the department you're interested in. I can't speak for any other majors, but Kaye Varney (Aviation Director) and Chip Dillon (Assistant Director) are both very easy to contact, and great people. If you can't make up your mind, give the department a call and ask questions and see for yourself what the faculty is like.

    Bang for the buck

If you can get the financial aid, or your family has the means to pay for this school, go for it. While the price tag isn't very nice, the academics are totally worth it. I know there are cheaper schools out there, but I don't feel that they have the same sense of community or the reputation that PUC offers its students. Also, they have a lot of accomodation for students who are married or have children which is quite close to campus and try hard to keep the prices for that housing reasonable.

    Am enjoying being here

As a community student, I am not notified about any events going on around campus. When I finally do get their emails, it's already three days after the event. However, the classes themselves have been loads of fun, and the events I HAVE been to are all good. Students and faculty are very friendly and helpful. There is a great community here. Also, as an Aviation student I am a member of the Angwin Flyers club. This is a student-run group which plans various aviation related events. We're planning a lot of fun events for later in the year when the weather gets better again. All of the people in this group are fantastic, it's great to just chat with them about planes and such. There are plenty of other clubs on campus as well. Also, if you don't see a group you think should be there, you can simply make your own. Campus hotspots such as The Grind are also very fun places to hang out with friends, play pool, watch movies, etc.

    Am learning a lot

Most professors are very knowledgable, but some are a little eccentric, and tend to be very difficult. Thankfully, this campus has a wide variety of professors for their general ed classes, so finding a teacher who I actually enjoy hasn't been too much of a problem. Academic expectations are extremely high, and most everything has a practical application-even general eds. Speaking from my major-Aviation, the classes are great. The professors not only know what they're talking about, but they also explain the subject matter well.

If you are looking forward to coming to Pacific Union College, do alittle bit of research and decide if this school is best for your career or interest. I think that know matter what career you want to pursue, Pacific Union College can help you succeed and give you more knowledge and time. The academics at this school is very easy going and if you come undecided you can take your first year to think about what you want to do. But make sure you make a decision before your second year of college. Make sure that you do good your freshmen year in college. You don't want to slack off. Always take your time and study.

    Am enjoying being here

I really enjoy being at Pacific Union College. The atmosphere up here is very nice. Although it may seem like you are in the middle of no where, this campus is a very friendly place to meet friends. Most importantly, you will never find an empty place to study. I like studying in the library on the third floor because it is quiet and I can focus on my work and get what I need to get done on time. You must be in an atmosphere where you are comfortable and where you can learn.

    Am learning a lot

Pacific Union College is a very peaceful and quiet college to go to. The professors make sure that you are learning important things that will help you in the future. You can learn a lot from your classes and if you need help with anything, you can always ask for extra help. You can also set up one on one meetings with your professors. They are always willing to help.

Great for these types of students

Outdoors, nature, nursing majors and anyone who wants to be away from the city!

    Tips for prospective students

PUC is a great school, you will have a great experience if you attend. Study hard, get to know your Professors and be sure to get involved as much as you can in extracurricular activities!

    Bang for the buck

Due to the fact that Pacific Union College is a private school, it can be expensive. However, if you value Adventist education, it is definitely worth it, the scenery is beautiful though!

    Am enjoying being here

The school has a beautiful location. The people are great, and very friendly. The only downside is the fact that it is kind of far and other than nature exploring, and road trips, there is not much else to do.

    Am learning a lot

The Professors are here to help you learn. They are very friendly and open to your suggestions, discussions, and questions. They want to help you succeed and therefore the school provides help if you ask.

    Campus Safety

We offer public safety to all students, and these services allows students to feel safe on campus. Public Safety picks up and drops students off during the late hours of the night. They monitor all suspicious activity around campus, and they help provide safety from drugs, alcohol, and fire disasters.

    Clubs and Activities

There many different clubs at Pacific Union College. These clubs cater to the different ethnic groups and diverse people that we have at our school. Some of these include Society of Latinos club (SOL), Black Student Union (BSU), Korean Club, and Asian Club.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Pacific Union College has it's own Airport, which students use as part of their aviation training. The school also has an observatory used for astronomy classes, and where students can go and look at the stars at night.

    What to do for fun

Pacific Union College has a great athletic program, and students attend and support the sport teams and sporting events. There are also campus events such as Midnight Madness (pep rally), Talent show, Open Mic Night, and many more that provides students with opportunities to be involved on campus. Intramural sports are big part of PUC, and a great portion of students participate in these events.

    Food and Dining

We have contracted one of the finest dining companies in the United States. Bon ape-tit provides great food and service for us. They offer a variety of foods coming from difference nations. The only problem is that the food is very costly.

    Dorm Life

PUC offers a great dorm experience for students. There are plenty of activities such as dorm worships and dorm olympics. The deans often provide students with snacks and treats during the school year. Some of the dorms have chapels, study rooms, and lounges for mingling. The rooms are spacious, and they offer services such as a kitchen, laundry room, and vending machines.

    Academic Rigor

PUC has some of the most well educated and extremely qualified teachers. Our professors are very accomplished in their fields. Many of them have worked on current text books being used at other universities, or have completed research projects. They have received awards for books written and other various accomplishments. We have a great student to professor ratio, which allows each student to seek help from professors when needed. We are challenged in each class, and we are taught with great passion.

    Tips for prospective students

For prospective students, I recommend you bring a positive outlook of life, and a great attitude towards learning and discovering new things. New students should have an open mind about different cultures because Pacific Union College is very diverse. They should also be ready to enjoy the wineries and mountainous views.

    In three sentences

Pacific Union College is a school were a student can discover exactly who they are, and what they want to do for the rest of his or her life. It offers both educational and spiritual opportunities for students who are struggling to find a place in this world. This school is exceptional academically, and the people here are friendly and accepting.

    Campus Safety

As a small town, Angwin is naturally on the safer side. Although there are a few small incidents here and there, the general student population is very trustworthy. This could be due in part to the fact that it is such a small school that students are more familiar with each other and therefore have more respect for one another. As an added precaution, there are locks on the dorm doors after curfew, campus security does rounds in the parking lot, and the campus is well lit.

    Greek Life

    Two words: boxer caroling :)

    Clubs and Activities

There are a ton of ethnic clubs who allow anyone to join! Clubs on campus are very active and there is an event just about every weekend that everyone is invited to attend!

Great for these types of students

There are all kinds of students on campus. The folks who just relax through the day and party all night, and the people you never see outside of class because they have their nose in their books constantly!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

On someone's birthday, his/her friends often get together and throw them into the fountain in the middle of campus. This can be a welcome cool down in June, or a icy wake up call at midnight in January!

    Bang for the buck

If you are at school on someone else's dollar, then you won't be worried nearly as much about bang for your buck. If you're just there to chill, PUC is a beautiful place to hang out, but you might be bored with the natural atmosphere. There is no mall close by or other entertainment of that sort, so it may be easy to get bored if your focus isn't studying. But if you work to pay your own tuition like I do, you will find that there are many ways to get your money's worth out of PUC. Make sure you plan a full class schedule, because you pay the same tuition no matter how many units you're registered for. If you have any extra time, clubs and activities are a great way to fill in the gaps. While there isn't a mall within ffourty minutes, I find that the lack of distractions helps me to focus on my studeis better.

    What to do for fun

While the town of Angwin itself can be rather quiet, especially on Sabbath (Saturday) afternoons, there is always something to do either alone or with a group of friends! Church members often invite students to their homes for lunch, and it's fun to go with a group of people, or meet new friends. Napa valley is known for its beauty and wine tasting, so there are plenty of tourist attractions around. The San Francisco Bay area provides an endless number of things to do, whether you go to China Town or Alcatraz, there's always something new to explore! The state capitol is just a few hours away, and students enjoy spending a weekend away. The beach is about an hour's drive off of the mountain, and this is a popular getaway especially during the hot summer months. If you don't want to go off campus, there are plenty of hiking and biking trails on the PUC property. A favorite hike is Linda Falls, just a mile or two from the gym parking lot. PUC also has a track, tennis courts, open gym, and popular intermurals for students to get involved in.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria is vegetarian, but the food is still decent. To make things easier for students, everyone is required to pay a flat fee at the beginning of each quarter. Any money that is left over at the end is not given back to you, so most students purchase cases of food and drinks at the end of the quarter to get their money's worth unless they're helping an unfortunate friend who didn't plan their funding just right. It's not hard to stay under your allotted budget, but it can happen!

    Dorm Life

While you're not in high school anymore as far as academics are concerned, sometimes in the dorm it feels like high school all over again - just with older peers! No matter which dorm you live in, enjoy the experience of sharing bathrooms and showers with your friends. Curfews are relatively strict, but not a problem if you're like me and enjoy being asleep before midnight!

    Academic Rigor

Depending on which classes you take, you will find different requiremtns. Just remember, you're not in high school anymore!

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you get your financial awards in writing. Don't get distracted by the beautiful Napa Valley, but make sure you have time to hang out with friends in nearby San Francisco or Sacramento. Use your cafeteria card wisely!

    In three sentences

PUC is a school where you will feel very comfortable if you have been raised in the Adventist church, especially if you are familiar with the more conservative side of the church. On a small campus, you will definitely have a chance to get to know a lot of people. Dorm life is amazing, and the local activities are more varied than most people think.

Great for these types of students

Only if you're extremely wealthy and you like flushing your money down the toilet.

    Tips for prospective students

Absolutely do NOT waste your time at this school. It is way too expensive for the education you receive, and you can be in a Christian atmosphere just about anywhere you go. And trust me, there are as many bad influences at this school as anywhere else. My suggestion is to go to a junior college for 2 years, then transfer to a cheap state college. You will save yourself a TON of money and get the same education and same degree. If you're going to spend money, spend it on your master's or Phd. Don't spend it on undergrad at PUC. And don't let your parents talk you into going there because they went there. It was a whole lot CHEAPER when they went, even taking inflation into account. Also, I had some good teachers and some lousy teachers, which is the same anywhere you'll go.

    Bang for the buck

Room and board were over 30,000$ a year. An the price goes up about a 1000$ every year. Does that sound like a good deal??

    Did enjoy being here

I enjoyed the trees, but that's about it.

    Did learn a lot

I learned more at a community college after quitting PUC.

    Campus Safety

The campus is really safe. The school is basically located in the middle of nowhere on top of a mountain, so not much goes on. Though there was never a report on cougar sightings or attacks while I attended, there are most definitely cougars/mountains lions that reside in the back trails. Be careful and try not to explore the back woods alone.

    Greek Life

    Not a thing here

    Clubs and Activities

There are plenty of clubs and associations to join at PUC. The most popular clubs are SA, Business Club, Mabuhuay-Filipino Club, KASA, and BSU. Other interesting clubs include Sign Language, Amnesty International, Chess, and Music. The best way to enjoy your school and become involved. PUC always has something going on. REVO, blood drives, a pumpkin carving contest during the fall, midnight breakfast, free pizza feeds during finals week, visits to the city for shopping, there's a pool and a gym and a running track and hundreds of trails to explore. The Pacific Cafe (more commonly known as The Grind) has movie nights, live music once a month, pie eating contests, ping pong tournaments, random contests for prizes. SA does a lot too. Banquets, cheap tickets for ice skating and trampoline houses and other crazy but awesome and fun things. There's something for everyone at PUC; just pay attention and look for things that interest you.

Great for these types of students

PUC is great for someone who is hardworking, motivated, and dedicated to making a change. If you're friendly and outgoing and social, PUC is for you. The campus is quite small and everyone knows everyone, so even if you are a bit shy, it doesn't take long to come out of your shell.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Bikini caroling/ Boxer caroling: during the winter at about 12 at midnight, girls will go by the boys dorms wearing bikinis and singing Christmas songs. The guys will do the same, except wearing boxers. It's very amusing. Midnight Breakfast:The cafeteria will stay open until 1 am for one night during finals week and serve breakfast. I know people used to get tossed into the fountain on their birthday, but I don't think it's allowed anymore.

    What to do for fun

San Francisco has a ton of stuff to do, and it's only about an hour and a half away from the school. Snowboarding/skiing up in Tahoe and surfing in LA. Hiking in the backtrails of the school and plenty of events during the year hosted by clubs. St. Helena and Calistoga is where students usually go on weekends. There's a Bouchon in Yountville, they have amazing macarons. Hit up Guigni's and Azteca Market for some seriously good eats; these are both located in St. Helena.

    Food and Dining

If you like meat and fish, you probably should not be looking into PUC. The menu is strictly vegetarian. They also offer vegan and gluten-free options, but you have to ask about that. The Dining Commons (cafeteria) usually serves three different types of meals: traditional, exhibition, and international. Traditional is usually grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup, handmade pizza, lasagna, and so forth. Exhibition is a pick-and-choose kind of deal. You decide what you want. The food is prepared on the spot and served. This usually includes pasta, veggies, fried rice, noodles, omelettes, etc. The downside about exhibition is that the line is always very long. International is international food, such as curry, bibimbap, chow mein, etc. Sandwich station is where you can custom order your sandwich. Salad bar is pretty extensive and has a lot of stuff to choose from. They also have soups of the day. HUGE selection of juice/sodas/energy drinks. Lots of different ice cream. A la carte is usually premade sandwiches, prepackaged meals and salads. There is always fresh pastries and bread and desserts and such. Look out for Hawaiian bread during the Spring quarter. They usually bake it nearing the end of the quarter and it's delicious, but it sells really fast, so make sure you get a loaf or two. They have taqueria every night, which is basically a nacho/burrito bar. The Grind is a coffee/tea/every-other-drink-you-can-think-of joint where people usually chill to do homework or hang out. The Grind offers a lot of variety in the items they sell: candy, healthy snacks, frozen foods, yoghurt, Naked juice, sodas, energy drinks, vegan sandwiches, cereals, microwaveable foods, and other stuff. The food in general is pretty good.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is what you make it, but in my experience, it was awesome. You get really close to your neighbors and RA's. Everyone is really friendly. Graf is a noisy dorm, where no one sleeps and everyone sings and blasts music in the showers at 2 am, but it's all good and it's all part of college. Graf girls are a family, and the community is tightly knit. They are there for you no matter what. Andre and Winning are the two other women's dorms, and they are pretty quiet compared to Graf.

    Academic Rigor

This is real life, people. College is not a joke. PUC has a hardcore academic program. You are expected to work hard. Your grades are your responsibility. A lot of classes are fun and interesting, but they can be demanding, so just keep in mind that this is no easy task. You can work and play but never sleep, sleep and work but never play, or play and sleep but never work. Some people find a balance between all three, but it's pretty rare. The teachers are very helpful and always willing to help you if you are struggling, but do not expect them to reach out to you. You have to be the one to show initiative. For the love of Pete, DO NOT be afraid to ask for help!! Everyone struggles. It's normal, it's nothing to be embarrassed about. That's why teachers and tutors exist, they are there to help you succeed. Just work hard and study hard. You can do it.

    Tips for prospective students

Make friends with someone who has a car if you don't already have one. They will save your life on the weekends.

    In three sentences

PUC is a beautiful campus with a strong academic program, friendly students and helpful faculty. You will learn a little bit of everything there is to know about the world and a whole lot about yourself.

    What to do for fun

There are vesper activities! There is a huge pool! There is a basketball court, rock climbing, weight room, zumba, worship is fun! There is a soccer field and Tennis court. You could go to the grind and get a latte and play pool or table ping pong or go watch a movie in the dorm chill area. Also there are super fun trips the school has like going bowling or going to Brazil for a mission trip. In febuary the school will be going skiing and snow boarding!

    Dorm Life

There is worship in the dorms weekly and fun activities that allow you to get to know other girls in the dorm. Some dorms have three levels so it can seem like a lot of walking. Since the school does not have that many students it is a great place to over achieve when it comes to excelling at your major, all the tools are available there and you can spend as much time as you need using those tools.

    Tips for prospective students

It would be smart to have a car because if not the school is far from the city life. Basically you would be stuck on campus. Bring a lot of clothes and fridge and microwave.

    In three sentences

Pacific Union College is very pretty and has a lot of nature. The college only has 1,500 students so your teachers have a lot of time to spend on each individual student. It feels like a small family environment.

Since I've attended this school, I've never felt that I was ever in harm's way. The campus is safe, we have public safety officials around the clock that respond promptly.

Great for these types of students

PUC is ranked number two in the nation for it's diversity by U.S. News, so I truly believe that anyone can fit in and feel a part of this school.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are a few traditions! :) Birthday Fountain! When it's your birthday, the tradition is to throw you in the campus fountain! Yes, even if it's raining or snowing! ;) Another is during christmas season, the girls get all dressed up in the two piece bikinis and carol to the boy's dormitories! (Yes, even in the freezing cold.) And same for the guys, except they wear boxers! Another is the ceremony of the lighting of the Christmas tree in the middle of campus with candles and singing.

    Bang for the buck

We have amazing worship services! Our campus chaplain is a spectacular leader! He knows what he is doing and he and his staff put together successful spiritual week long revivals and weekly dorm worships, this is where he and our student chaplains go dorm to dorm having worship with them and offering words of wisdom to us students. (It honestly helps)

    What to do for fun

There are trails that are safe for hiking such as hiking to Linda Falls and Devil's Punch Bowl and there is a near-by place to go mud-caving and our student association staff always have games and activities planned.

    Food and Dining

Food is offered all the time. Dining commons (cafeteria) is open before classes start and closes at 11pm, so there's no excuse to go hungry. They offer a variety of soft drinks and water also snacks (candy, chips, pastries etc.) But although we have a variety everyday for our meals, i just wish it wasn't expensive! We also have a cafe' that opens at six closes at midnight.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is great! I live in the, (what we like to call ourselves) the family dorm It's great, it feels homey and it is home away from home!

    Academic Rigor

We have an excellent academic program with amazing professors. They challenge you, but they're not scary. They're free to talk to you and won't judge you (I've changed my major a few times, so i know quite a bit of professors.) If you want to be successful at PUC, attending classes, asking questions, and participating in class discussions are a necessity.

    Tips for prospective students

Attend class. Do not think that you can sleep through a class or ditch it, this institute goes by a quarter system and missing one day is crucial and it will affect you dramatically. Join clubs! Don't feel that you're too cool or it's not for you, PUC offers so many clubs to join, you'll find one that fits you just right!

    In three sentences

Pacific Union college provides a healthy and spiritual environment that any Christian is seeking for. The campus is beautiful, surrounded by nature making studying relaxing. And best of all, this institute is enclosed in a Godly and caring community.

    What to do for fun

Angwin has a lot of hiking trails in the back 40, and there's also Linda Falls, mudcaving, tennis courts, and the students all hang out in The Grind or the coffee shop and campus center. Napa has a ton of great eating places, and a lot of us go to St. Helena or Calistoga for super good food.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria here sucks. It is also completely vegetarian. Bon Apetit, the company that runs it can prepare a few decent things, but they charge way too much per quarter.

    Dorm Life

I have lived in almost all the women's dorms except for McReynold's Hall. I enjoyed Graf Hall the most because of the friendly atmosphere, but Winning would be my second favorite, as its good for studying as it's on the quieter side.

    Academic Rigor

It depends on the courses one is taking, for me, science classes were very challenging but I learned a lot.

    Tips for prospective students

Pacific Union College is a popular school for nursing, and pre-requisite school for Loma Linda University. Graf Hall is a great place for freshman girls, as it's the loudest and the most fun, also the easiest way to make friends. Also, join the ASA club and MFC to meet a ton of good people.

    In three sentences

Pacific Union College is a small Christian college with a great study atmosphere and full of friendly people and professors. Go off the hill and look at the vineyards 6. SF is only an hour and half away 7. Go to the movies in Napa 8. Go exploring around the campus 9. Go to Lake Berryessa, or Hennessay 10. There are annual trips to go to Lake Tahoe at the ski resort 11. Go joy riding 12. Enjoy yourself

    Food and Dining

I am giving this five stars not because of the food at school because that deserves a good 3.5 stars. If you are a vegetarian and a vegan then the school food will be no problem. The food is good and you have an assortment of vegetables and fruits and a lot of soups and salads. The food off the hill is amazing, you have Travinge Pizza, Gott's/ Taylors burgers, (so good) Giugnis Deli services the best sandwiches ever. We are also located in the Napa Valley so the dining is to die for you just have to be willing to spend.

    Dorm Life

It depends on which dorm you end up in. I only know about the girls dorm and not about the boys to much. The girls have four dorms, Winning Hall, Andre Hall, Graf Hall and McReynolds Hall. Winning, Andre and Graf are very close together and are near the campus buildings. McReynolds is for the older girls who are usually seniors or just older or people who want to live on the upper level of the hill. Kind of far from the campus. The boys Dorms are Granger, Newton and Nichol Hall. Granger and Newton are close to each other and are on campus, Nichol is next to McReynolds and is up on the upper side of the hill. Each hall has dorm worships, RA's, and each floor does different things for different seasons.

    Academic Rigor

It depends on the Professor and the classes that you will be taking. However, from my past experiences each professor does attendance, so go to class. You are paying a pretty penny for you not going to class. The teachers expect you to do your reading and be prepared for class. They are also very understanding if something is going on, but you have to inform them if something is up. The professors do like it when you ask a lot of questions and are very involved and they expect you to work your hardest and they will push you.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Make sure that your phone plan is Verizon, any other phone service will not do, we live on the hill. 2. Be sure that you are okay with staying on campus during the weekends if you do not have a car. 3. Makes friends with cars. 4. This is a vegetarian school so be okay with eating no meat for a while. 5. This is a Christian/SDA School so there are going to be rules. 6. Go to at least one Banquet. 7. People smile a lot (which at first I thought was creepy) but they are really nice. 8. Take Trikke, you'll get to see more the campus. 9. Get your books online and not from the bookstore. 10. Have fun, make friends or just do your own thing.

    In three sentences

For anyone who loves the outdoors and nature. A very tight knit community and very easygoing towards new comers. Beautiful campus, something you need to experience yourself.

    Campus Safety

There are regulations on drugs and all, but the school is relatively safe. Occasionally the dorms will have a practice fire drill.

    Greek Life

    There is no greek life.

    Clubs and Activities

There are plenty of clubs, from Chemistry to Music to Amnesty. And intermurals is a big thing here.

Great for these types of students

Great place to really learn more about God. And it's not to conservative but more liberal. And if you want to meet new people, this is the place. There are students from all over the place.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

During the Finals week, there is Bikini Caroling. On different nights the guys and girls go out at midnight to sing Christmas Carols outside of the opposite genders dorm. In their underwear/bikini.

    Bang for the buck

Being a private school, it is relatively expensive. However, there are plenty of scholarships that the school offers. Also, if one works for a SDA affiliated job over the summer, PUC doubles the paycheck up to $2,000.

    What to do for fun

The school holds some events for the students to do, such as intramural, bowling nights, ice skating, or movie nights, among other things. Clubs also tend to hold their own events to which any one can attend. There is also tourist attractions nearby to go to, as well as plenty of forested land in the back of the school to go hiking in.

    Food and Dining

All of the food served in the cafeteria is either vegetarian or vegan. Recently it was nominated for having some of the best vegan food compared to other campuses. Sometimes the food can get a little repetitive, but its still good. There is a deli sandwich option from Monday to Friday for lunch, and a salad bar everyday. Below the cafeteria is a cafe that serves coffee, tea, hot chocolate and other drinks and snacks. Typically, the cafe is a place to hang out and where social activities take place.

    Dorm Life

There are separate dorms for the guys and girls. If your in Nichol or McReynolds, you'll be more isolated from the rest of the school but get in a daily hike. Otherwise, the other five dorms are on the outskirts of the school. The deans are friendly, and there are usually dorm worships once a week that let the residents get together to worship. One of the girls dorms has community showers, as well as one of the guy's dorms, but that is fine since you don't have to spend time cleaning them or the bathrooms. All the other dorms have two rooms sharing a bathroom and shower.

    Academic Rigor

The classes do require time to study, but what college class doesn't? Since the school works on a quarter-based schedule, the material has to be learned quickly, but more requirements can be completed in one school year versus the semester system. The professors are friendly and helpful if a student doesn't understand the material. Some of them may pray before a class begins, or before a test, it just depends on the professor. There is also a Teaching and Learning Center that tutors students for no charge on whatever material they need help in.

    Tips for prospective students

If your looking for a school that is remote from the city, this is the place. There are some small tourist towns about 10-20 minutes away, but otherwise its the trees. There is a requirement for worship credit that varies depending on what year one is or the exceptions, but there are plenty of opportunities to fulfill them. And they do feed the soul.

    In three sentences

PUC is absolutely gorgeous in any weather. The people here are friendly and it's not hard to make new friends. It is a private Seventh Day Adventist school so be prepared to attend the inspiring Friday night Vespers.
